Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
For legacy, sure.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Go through the Chiefs, and for things like us and
what we do, go through the Chiefs. I really think
for Josh Allen, he has one purpose in his entire life,
and it is to win a Super Bowl for Buffalo.
I really think it's like Texans Chiefs. I know, Moham,
I just want to bring a parade to Buffalo and
then I can rest. I really do feel that way,
and I even think he feels that way. Like he
goes in and he'll all this week if any media
(00:46):
he does, which won't be much, he goes into automatic
pilot for the Chiefs. He's had the same speech, the
same soundbites for years. They're at the top there where
we're trying to get to.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
They're they're perennially the best. Mahomes is great. He just
does it.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
He won't deviate, and inside his head does he feel like, man,
I want to beat that solb I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Maybe I think he wants to win a Super Bowl.
I will say this.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
The eighty five Bears were fifteen to one and they
lost to Dan Marino, and they tore them apart and
there was a fight on the sideline. It's this big
blemish on them, and they wanted revenge. You gotta beat
Marino in the playoffs. You gotta do it well. Marino
got upset in the playoffs by the Patriots. The Bears
beat the but Jesus out of the Patriots. They're maybe
the most beloved Super Bowl champion in history. And when
you talk about the eighty five Bears, do you.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Sit there and say, oh, yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Never didn't get revenge against the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's just they're the eighty five Bears. I think immediately
with the media now you.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Might say, oh, how Astros Astris? If you feel that way,
time will show that, Okay, he didn't be the Chiefs guys.
He brought a Super Bowl championship to Buffalo, to Buffalo
and they haven't even played it in thirty years.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I actually say no on this.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I think this is a really big deal for the
Patriots because I've long believed this.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
There's a group of individuals that.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I called the North Turner Club, and it's kind of patronizing,
but I'm sorry. I call it as I see it.
These are guys who are prolific coordinators. They get the
call up. Maybe they can call up a couple of times.
It just doesn't work out as head coach, and they're
meant to be coordinators. This North Turner, it's maybe Wade Phillips,
Vic Fangio, Josh McDaniels. It might turn out to be Cliff,
it might turn out to be Ben Johnson, and there's
nothing wrong with that. You are a fantastic coordinator. Josh
(02:17):
McDaniel's had a couple of different turns as head coach.
They did not work out. He is a great coordinator,
and it's almost like you have a second head coach.
It's a double advantage. But this is the most interesting part.
I don't usually live in Scoopville, as you know. I
know somebody with the Patriots, and I heard something and
I'm not making this up. Josh and Rabel and there's
this idea that this is not the Belichick era.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
We're not going to be on no days off, blah
blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
McDaniels has insisted upon his agreement that he has what
they call the in stadium party coordinator, and they're bringing
it and I'm not You think I'm making this up there.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It is.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
He's gonna be on the Mike showing and there's Peter
in MTV spring Break. He just got a toss from
Serena atchwell and he's about to interview the guys from
Fuel and Peter's gonna be in the statement, Got Shimmer, Shimmer,
He's gonna have test tube shots, he's gonna have body
shots and it's.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Going to be incredible.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
And then we'll go and we'll bring in I don't know, vertical.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Horizon and they'll just bring this set down for halftime.
So that's coming to New England. Two guys.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's not the same old Patriots, so that's pretty easy.
I think we've all been really really impressed with Terry McLaurin.
He's been one of the best players in the playoffs.
He's incredible.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
There's a guy on the other side who's been around.
We like him. If you call yourself big play slay,
it is a big game type game for slay.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Don't let Terry mcclaurin go running through the secondary, don't
let Zach Kertz be.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Showing up in the red zone. Big play Slay.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
You know I love you and you want to talk
about talking.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
It says talk to talk.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Akbar went out of his way to say the guy
doesn't talk enough, so I'll try to make up for
it more than it literally says below you talk the
talk on the screen, talk to talk. Last week, Darius
Slay when he gets his former teammate Matthew Stafford after
the game, he said, it was fun as hell until
he started trying me the last two drives. Damn staff
Calm down, Calm the blake down, like bleef. You've been
slinging that bleep, bleep bleep. He had this whole debriefot
(04:04):
Matt Stafford trying to throw at him, and it was
very profanity ly and I just did the best I could. Now,
he's going against a rookie quarterback in your house, big play, Sleigh.
Is he going to be the guy who keeps you
from going to the super Bowl? If you are big play,
it is a big day and big players make big
plays in big sleigh, something like that.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I got to see something from Darius Slay. Let's go.
I'm happy for him too. I'm happy for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
I'm happy for their fans, and I hope that Aaron
Glenn connects as a motivator, and he knows how to
connect with the players and connect conet, connect connects. I
do understand, though, there is a voice of the fan
out here of like we're twenty seven dresses. We keep
doing it, except this twenty seven coaches, we keep doing
the same thing.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I looked up last night.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
I looked up the introductory press conferences from the Jets
for Todd Bowles, Robert Sala and Rex Ryan.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Guys. They're the same picture.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
It's the ownership, talks about communicator, leader, motivator, and passion.
Those four wards come up. They will come up, and
they introduced Aaron Glenn. The same words always come up.
It's what they want, it's what they look for, and
that's fine if it would I just wish it would
work a little bit better.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I also, I have to be candid here.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
I hate the Aaron Glenn knows with that Jersey film.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I think it is irrelevant.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I think it is window dressing to kiss up to
fans who just want a good.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Coach and don't care about that.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
I cannot possibly have more respect for Bill Parcells.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I feel like, in a way I was raised by him.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
We are taking the word of someone who hasn't coached
for about twenty years about a player he hasn't coached
for nearly thirty years. And that means something because it
has this parcelian stamp of approval. It is wonderful and
it is respectful. It is really old fashioned, dare I
say archaic, and that we're changing the game here and
(05:45):
we got coaches doing all sorts of brilliant different things.
And you can respect your past without having to wield
it to make a decision that is this important. Maybe
it's all just smoking mirrors and Bill Parcells responds to
a few emails, or maybe he's intimately involved. I really
hope this works because I'm rooting for the Jets. It
(06:06):
does feel a little bit groundhog day e though, And
I just have to be candid and admit that it's
crazy for me too that a rookie quarterback is now
playing in his twentieth game of the season. You know,
he's supposed to be done six seven games, but even
at LSU, it's nuts and he's still playing that well.
I talk about Jalen Hurts too. I think he is
the most interesting player all weekend. We can have Mahomes
(06:26):
and Allan and all Jayden is great. Jalen Hurts is
fascinating because he is starting his second title game. He
makes the playoffs every single year, and there's this general
perception from Philadelphia that's like me, who is this guy?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Is he our guy?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
And it's an amazing thing that all he does is
win and there's still a met him And it's not
a loot of it has to do with how incredible
Saquan is.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
And it's not even.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
This thing though, where it's like Saquan is Jordan and
Jalen's Pippin.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Like he's not. He's like he's looked at his like
Bill Cartwright.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Just be there and get some rebounds and just play
your role. It's not like Saquan is Batman and Jalen
is rob and it's like Jalen is Alfred, Like get
Batman breakfast and like get him dressed and then go
do whatever you do plus a doku. I just think
at this game, a coach like dan Quinn, a defensive
coach through and through. There is no way he's gonna
say anything other than, guys, if we go down in Philly,
(07:15):
we are not going down because we have front row
seats to another Saquon Barkley track meet. We're just we're
not gonna do it. We're gonna do everything short of
parking the team busts.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
In front of the D line, in front of Saquon.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Saquon, by the way, who two games against the Commanders
went for two ninety six and four touchdown.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
That's that's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
So Quinn's gonna be like, listenon, we have to do everything.
Eight in the bux, nine in the box, eleft, I
don't care. We have to make Jalen Hurts beat us,
especially now that Jalen Hurts is hurt. He's not even
the same his knees all busted up. So you got
this idea as an Egos fan, and certainly has the
Eagles offensive coaches right, We've got to get the passing game.
We gotta do it finally, finally, and yet do they.
(07:56):
There's this weird thing that over Jalen hurts career. If
you follow this, he is four and three in the playoffs.
He has four wins, three losses. In the four wins,
he goes for one hundred and thirty five yards passing
one thirty five that's the average. In the three losses,
he goes for two seventy exactly double. So in those
games when he gets the passing game going or has
(08:19):
to get the passing, they lose, including in the Super Bowl.
So there's this tracker online you can follow that will
he get to one thirty five that is the point
of no return. It he goes over one thirty five
passing pretty modest numbers, he's going to lose.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
So it's all over the place.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
It's like, you want Jalen to get the passing and
going sort of.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
But if Jalen is getting big passing numbers to Sekuon's
getting stuffed. It is such an interesting game.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
And my bottom line is that a player who's made
the playoffs every year as a starter and it is
starting his second title game in that media market is
still looked at as like, hello, Mitch Fly, are you awake?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Do you want to do anything for us?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It's a strange relationship that I think he has a
chance to really take one way or another. This weekend,
have the Hero game and Jalen hurts and Steakon's getting stuffed.
You're at Philadelphia, legend, You're starting your second Super Bowl collapse,
limp around your knees hurt. You can't save Saquon, You're
gonna be looked down upon for a long time. I
think he is a lot at stake this week and
the most interesting player in the league. For me, I
(09:15):
will pull from the Year of Our Lord nineteen ninety nine,
maybe the best year of movies of all time. I'm
gonna go with the Eagles and Fight Club, and I'll
tell you why. I look at their backfield and I
look at this dichotomy.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
And on the left you have the Ed Norton.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
It's just kind of this sort of every man who's
in a struggle and is a little bit confused about
some things. And on the right you have this ideal,
like angelic, perfect figure that is almost like.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Something from your imagination.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
And I just look at Norton and I look at Jalen.
It's like I am Jalen Hurt's left knee. Asked me
about next weekend. Saque comes out and says, the first
rule of the Eagles passing games we do not.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Talk about the Eagles passing game.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
The second rule of the Eagles passing game is we
do not talk about the Eagles passing game.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
I love this one. What's gonna make soap this weekend.
Do they get knocked off at the end, We're gonna
hear the Pixies as the confetti falls. Will find these
two fight club Now you love It.
