Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio. Yeah Baby, ten Takes ten minutes. Symmetry, simplicity,
and off we go, Take number one. It's the best

(00:25):
time of the year in the NFL right now, just starting.
It's just starting playoffs or playoffs, I get it. Opening
weekend is opening weekend. It's all kind of fun and festive.
I'd like right now, just as we're rulling into Thanksgiving,
because teams are starting to not just get beaten, they're
starting to get exposed and players are getting exposed, and

(00:46):
it's compelling and it's dramatic. There is a group of
quarterbacks in the league that are really good quarterbacks. There's
that group, and then there's a much smaller group of
really good quarterbacks that you can trust, that you have
pure faith in that win or lose, they're gonna show up,
they're gonna play. There's some other guys that we don't.

(01:09):
I like that. You see these guys just fall in
their faces, or maybe it's a guy you're like, I
don't think he's in the trust group. Oh my god,
he was incredible. They lost, but he threw for four touchdowns.
He was not bothered, his hair didn't blowback, his pols
didn't bounce. I think you saw some of that this weekend.
I mean, we have to talk about Sam Darnold. Are
we even at the point we can totally trust Jared Goff,

(01:32):
a guy we've seen for years in many playoff games.
It's not just the usual suspects. Oh, it's definitely the
usual suspects. But you lose Week three and you don't
play well, Oh well, you got a lot of football left.
You lose. As we're heading towards Thanksgiving, you start to
think like, well, we don't have a quarterback anymore. We
don't have time to bounce back. It's cold now. It
can't play outdoors. They can't play at night, they can't

(01:52):
play in the cold. The stakes feel so different when
you watch the games right now, don't they didn't Philadelphia
Detroit feel different? Didn't Denver case feel different than a
game even three weeks ago? Take number two. More to
this point, we're careening towards the postseason with this fun
little pack of unprovens. We have our established relationship with

(02:14):
guys like Matthew Stafford or Josh Allen. Even Jalen Hurts
pretty much know what we're gonna get from those guys,
and then there's this pack of misfits that we don't
know how the hell they're gonna show up, and it
could be a nuclear embarrassment. Daniel Jones is probably gonna
play a playoff game. Caleb Williams might be in one.
Drake may never seen him do anything like this. Bo

(02:37):
Knicks still very young. He wasn't the playoffs last year.
But do you have any confidence for sure that, like, well,
I don't know how the Broncos are going to be
in that first playoff game, but Nicks will be set.
I don't. I have the opposite. In fact, even Sam Darnold,
I'm like, I'm nervous for Seattle to have a big
playoff game. If you like Sam Donald, which I do,
and I got to meet him, it's just a totally

(02:57):
great guy. I see the Seahawks playoff schedule drop and
it says at Philadelphia. Oh no o, Sam. There could
be a reparable damage done to Sam Darnold in that game.
I don't like it. Take number three more of this,
Jared Goff. I thought we'd passed the point of this
with Jared Goff plays the really bad Super Bowl, McVeigh

(03:18):
breaks up with him. He's a hero. In Detroit. They
chant his name at the grocery store. He had a
game last year where it was like a perfect game,
like no incompletions, and then I'm watching him in Philadelphia
in the cold against that d line and in his
final twenty passes he had eighteen in completions. When you
have sixteen out of your final twenty, don't you dial
up a screen or a checkdown or just anything that

(03:40):
makes the ball go from his hand to someone else's
without hitting the ground. This is not some up and comer.
This is Jared Goff, an established brand, a guy that
we like, a guy you'll start in fantasy, a guy
who win for you in fantasy. And either he was
turned inside out in those conditions against that team, or
the Eagles have the best defense that we've seen in
twenty years and it's even better than their team last year.

(04:02):
It better be the second one, because come on, Jared Goff,
I fight for you, I root for you. Good story,
good guy. You can't come up and play like that
against philadelp You can lose, of course, I don't mind
you lose. Can you not go eight of twenty and
your final twenty. This is such a negative pod today,
it's now it's gonna get worse. Taking them before Sam Donald, Man, Sam,

(04:23):
help us, help you. If you're someone who is like,
oh dude, don't invest in Sam Donald, he gets the yips.
Sam Donald starts sailing passes when the stakes get high.
I had Bikings fans texting me yesterday. I told you.
I told you at Bikings fans as if you have
any ground to stand on with the guy that you
broke up with Donald to have, We'll get to him later.

(04:44):
The Bikings fans are very satisfied with Sam Donald's game yesterday.
If you're one of those people, yesterday was your Lollapalooza
meets Comic Con meets Marty Grab because it was Donald
just just chucking interceptions walking out of the locker room.
I think he actually threw one in the locker room.
Somehow one of the rams got in there and intercepted it.

(05:04):
Four picks. Three were his faults, but I don't care.
Only one wasn't his fault. Well, he threw three in
the biggest game of the year, and we just last year.
If you have a pretty decent memory. Remember that he
looked like a different player at the end of the
season for the Vikings. I like Sam Donald. Damn it.
I hate this take. I hate this pod right now.
I want to bail after five minutes, but I can't
halfway for him. Take number five. The Bears are the

(05:25):
strangest team. They're very flawed. I've been saying that all
year for seven and three. They have a lot of flaws,
but they have something that a lot of teams don't,
even really good teams don't have this. The Bears have
an identity. Keep it close, stay close, even if you
have to come from ahead. Just be in a close game,
lead the NFL in interceptions, and win at the end

(05:46):
of the game. That's it. You know what I like
about the Bears. The Bears are the too much time team.
What do I mean by that? The second I knew
the Bears are going to win this game is when
JJ McCarthy threw the go ahead touchdown pas to Jordan Edison.
That sounds backwards, doesn't make sense, Yes it does because
when he threw it there were fifty seconds left in
the clock and the Bears had all their timeouts the
second and Addison cut to go head touchdown. Oh Bears
win because that's what they do all year that they

(06:08):
are the too much time team. Leave too much time
on the clock, you will lose to the Bears. I
don't care that their kicker missed the last one. I
knew he'd make the next one. And so to Ben Johnson,
it's cool to be the too much time team. Teams
have to completely milk the clock out or you'll find
a way to beat them. They get the big kick
return and it was over. I knew it. And the
Bears are really messed up and they are strange seven

(06:29):
and three, but they do have an identity. You can
win with an identity. Take number six. I hate what's
happening to the Chiefs. Hate it. Hate it. If you
are rejoicing and you're loving it, I totally understand. And
the Chiefs are finally getting their medicine and they're five
and five and they're losing games, and Mahomes doesn't look
good and the team's body language is bad and on
and on, and if you've been waiting for this for
eight nine years, God bless you. I don't want it.

(06:49):
And I'll tell you why I want the Chiefs in
the playoffs. I've said this before. I don't want a
Chief free AFC playoffs. If you want the Chiefs get
beaten in the playoffs, fine, I wanted to see finally
Buffalo or Baltimore, somebody who we have investment in beat
the Chiefs. I don't want him to go through like
a wounded Chargers team and a Daniel Jones Colt's team. No,

(07:10):
beat the Chiefs. Take them out on your way to
the super Bowl. Or there's this strange almost like Houston
Rockets the Lajah won titles Factor where they didn't go
through Jordan. I don't know. I want the Chiefs in
and so they can be properly eliminated. Take number seven.
I compare him to Gus Spring. Follow me on this,
Gus Spring, all time villain breaking bad Giancarlo Esposito. I

(07:31):
don't like Gus Spring's death. I'm gonna take some time
on this. Gus Spring is meeting Hector Salamanca in the
nursing home and he gets caught with Walter White's pipe bomb.
They get sets off by the bells. All right, A
couple things I don't like about Gus springs death. We've
been waiting and waiting and waiting, want to satisfying death.
I wasn't satisfied. For one. We got the special effects
where half his faces melted off, and it was a

(07:53):
really tough beat for Vince Gilligan and all the breaking
bad people because we had just seen that from Harvey
Dent in The Dark Knight Rises. We were just coming
off seeing, Oh wow, a character is half his face
blown off. That's really gnarly. The second I saw Gus
Springs half face blown off, I'm like, he's two faces
and I just saw this. But the most important part
is I don't like the way that they had Gus
spring who had half his face blown off, walk out

(08:14):
like a gentleman, tighten his tie, be composed, straight face,
and then fall down and die. You know why I
wanted to see Gus s Frings suffer. I wanted to
see him WinCE and moan and cry and be in
pain and really suffer for all the pain he had inflicted.
If the Chiefs are gonna go down, I went them
going down on CBS with Nanson Romo on the call,

(08:37):
and they get their doors blown off by some AFC
up and comer or one of the old faithful, like
Buffalo and Baltimore, and there's a glorious Viking funeral where
Josh Allen Lamar Jackson shoots the flaming arrow onto their
raft and the Chiefs are set on fire. That's not
gonna happen if they finish seven to ten, don't make
the playoffs. I hate it. I gotta hurry off. Take
number eight. Josh Allen has the most powerful A plus

(08:59):
game in the league. His aplus is better than anybody
else's A plus when he goes to full powers. He
is the best football player at any position in the
league in this century. Maybe I mean six touchdowns. There's
no way you're gonna beat him. The problem is is
that I look at that Bills team. It's not a
great team. Even by Josh Allen Aristanders, It's not one
of the best teams they've had. I feel like he
needs to be the A plus like four times in

(09:20):
the playoffs or they're gonna lose. Take number nine. I'm
already excited for Thanksgiving. I don't care. I'm weaker. It's
my favorite holiday. Have you seen what the networks are doing.
They're making it a John Madden extravaganza. Each game is
going to have the special Madden Thanksgiving Treatment. John Madden
is the Santa Claus of Thanksgiving. They're making him the
face of the holiday and I absolutely love it. I
will be there. The games are good too. Take number

(09:41):
ten for parents. Musical pride is greater than sports pride.
What do I mean by that? This weekend, my nine
year old daughter was in a musical. She was in
a Little mor Mate and she played Ariel. She went
out there and sang part of your World, and I
was in the tenth throw sobbing my eyes out. I
could not believe how happy, how emotional, how proud I
was of her. I have seen the same daughter hit

(10:02):
a big free throw in a little girl's beast. I've
seen her brother strike out the side in baseball or
get a sack in football, and I am so proud.
There's something about the music. There's something about your child
being out there on stage in a dark audience by themselves,
singing a song and hitting notes that brings the house down.
Never been more proud of one of my children. I
hope my son's not listening to this. I love you.

(10:24):
Hav one great job. That great job, little mommade. Absolutely brush,
That's it. Guys. The bomb went off just as I
was stoling how broud I am of my daughter, and
there was an explosion. But that's the kind of show
that we have. This show is very negative up top.
I had to end it with like a little bit
of sweetness. I hope you enjoyed it. Well, see next week.
It's only ten minutes, but it's called ten takes. Glad
you liked it to see that a five. Ten Takes

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
