Speaker 2 (01:48):
Anything you want.
Speaker 8 (01:49):
I've been staying busy with the kids, honestly, all through
of my kids playing basketball, my son played football as well.
So just been staying busy and transitioning over into this
media space having having fun with it.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
It's been great. That's awesome. How does the body feel? Though?
Speaker 9 (02:02):
People don't understand that A big portion for guys retiring.
Speaker 10 (02:06):
Is guys feel there.
Speaker 9 (02:07):
The bodies hurt, right, you know the camp You start
thinking about do I want to do another year?
Speaker 4 (02:10):
And you think about camp and you're like, nah, I'm good.
Speaker 9 (02:13):
So how are you feeling every day when you wake
up and get out of bed?
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Now?
Speaker 8 (02:16):
No, I feel I feel great. I feel a lot
way better than my last twelve.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
You can honestly say not.
Speaker 8 (02:22):
I wasn't looking forward to hitting nobody else bro that
that that flame kind of burned out to really go
up and you know, make that full commitment and train
and battle against those those beats on the D line.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
So I feel I feel great being a civilian.
Speaker 11 (02:39):
I got a question though, about sleeping because for me,
I don't know about you. When I retired, nobody warned
me about how awake I was going to be at night.
I'm not exhausting as much energy as I used to.
So I'm sitting here three am looking just like I
know what that. So, how have you transition with falling asleep?
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Is that a thing for you? Or No? Not really,
not really.
Speaker 8 (02:59):
I think I can go to can go to bed
kind of like flipping the switch. I stay up a
little late playing a game Mad two.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
K Okay, yeah.
Speaker 10 (03:08):
So you said we need to get that work.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Okay, that's what will you doing it?
Speaker 3 (03:14):
All right, Well, let's get to work if you will
to this time for the lead block. And last week
the New York Giants drops up their mini camp and
there are plenty of good vibes from the gm N,
the addition of Russell Wilson in free agency, then drafting
up Bill Carter and Jackson Dart. Head coach Brian dave
All wants his squad to stay locked in even with
this break in the action.
Speaker 7 (03:36):
First and foremost, what we accomplished in the OTAs and
in phase one, phase two and phase three, which we
put a lot of good work in, we can't lose
that in the next call it thirty days. In terms
of our physical abilities, our techniques, our training methods, we
have to come back when training camp hits. You know,
(03:57):
you have a do I have much tolerance for mistakes
during training camp seasons, getting close.
Speaker 12 (04:03):
We're just on this concept and growth trajectory, and we've
got to stay there, you know. I think that, you know,
we've grown so much every day, the team, the team,
the team, the team. I think we just have gotten
better and better every day offense, defense, special teams. I
think our camaraderie has been amazing. I think that, you know,
it's always cool when you know, this is my going
(04:24):
into my fourteenth year in the National Football League, and
it's it's fun to be able to see guys who
are young, you know, staying extra, doing the extra necessary things.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Oh god, going into its fourteenth season, I got to
like digest that right well, aging all of us clearly
a positive energy of course, around the Giants' off season,
the signing of Russell Wilson, the draft class featuring, of course,
first rounders of Duel Carter and Jackson Dart.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
But Rashad, you're close to the Giants, does the optism
optimism feel real?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Toy feel real? Yes, is real?
Speaker 11 (04:53):
It's a one hundred percent look the Giants fans see
a blue We have a great reason to be excited
this year for so many reason. You want to start
offensive defense, started on the defense, and lit'll get two eleven.
When they won a Super Bowl, who went how do
they win it? Because of their defense? You had straight
hand out there. You had Justin Tuck, you had Chris Canty,
had young pup JPP at the time, and they were
(05:16):
unstoppable and relentless. They have a similar situation now on defense.
They got Thibodeaux, they got Burns, they got sexy dex
is what they call them out there. And then you
got a dual carter coming off the edge. I know
it's OTA's and you really don't have to pass on.
But I remember when I was with the Giants and
I saw a guy named Odell Beckham junior run a
(05:36):
slint and OTAs and me and Hillis looked at each
other and said, hey, that guy runs different.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
You can pick up on clues who's.
Speaker 11 (05:44):
Different in OTA's and I think he's a generational talent.
And you look on offense. You bring in Russell Wilson.
He won a Super Bowl. He's one handoff or potentially
a pass away from getting two Super Bowls. And where
do you win that Super Bowl met Life Stadium, and
guess where he's at now, met Life Stadium, sitting there,
and he said that when.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I just I just bought a house. You love your neighborhood.
Speaker 11 (06:03):
You gotta check inighbors, right, And Russ said he wanted
to play one of the great winning with one of
the greatest neighbors, and that.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Is Eliku neighbors.
Speaker 11 (06:12):
We did there, So I think that is the reason
why is there a lot of optimism.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Matter of fact, we're.
Speaker 11 (06:16):
Gonna call it bullish and we're gonna step it up, bullets, bulls.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
We're gonna take it to the stock market.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Okay, you set us up so nice for the neighbors,
saying none.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Of us walk through that, but you did good.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I want to give you a props there.
Speaker 10 (06:26):
So listen, I would love to be on board with you.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 9 (06:30):
Talk about the New York Giants two thousand and eleven. I
was on that squad, right, So I walked away with
a little bit of Jeorry. It's not as shiny as
t arm over here, you know what I'm saying. But
I walked away with a little bit of Jwely. So
I understand what was required to go out there and
win that championship. We were heavily defensive minded team. However,
we had a ton of talent offensively. When you start
talking about the New York Giants and what they have offensively,
there's still a lot of question marks, right, And the
(06:51):
question marks I have is what is this offense going
to produce whenever they have their weapons out there? When
you have Brian Dabole, he's on his last edge, right.
He hasn't had a quarterback that he's comfortable and confident
with the call, the type of game that he was
called when he was in Buffalo.
Speaker 10 (07:05):
The whole reason why he's a head coach or the
New York Giants.
Speaker 9 (07:07):
Is because of the offense that he was facilitating while
he was in Buffalo. But now he's in New York,
and now he has Russell Wilson. Now he has a
whole room full of quarterbacks that.
Speaker 10 (07:15):
He has to select from. But is it going to
be enough?
Speaker 9 (07:18):
These guys were bottom three in yards per game in
terms of offense in the league, bottom three right in
terms of points scored, they were bottom two. So now
all of a sudden, you started talking about Milik neighbors,
and you bring in Russell Wilson.
Speaker 10 (07:30):
Is that enough? So my question is do they have
enough talent on offense.
Speaker 9 (07:34):
Regardless of the leadership that they now have in that
quarterback room, regardless of the fact that Dave bo might
feel comfortable enough opening up the offense, I'm not sure
that they have enough talent on the offense side of
the ball to get this thing done. You guys both
make very valid points.
Speaker 8 (07:47):
I can see the reason for the optimism, especially defensively
that defensive line that you spoke on, I know the
trenches very well.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
That's my expertise.
Speaker 8 (07:54):
Brian Burns Monster, having a lot of experience against that
guy when he was in Carolina.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
He's very very impressive.
Speaker 8 (08:01):
Abdul Carter Thibodeau and Sexy Dexy, who I believe is
the best interior d liman in the league. Also the
pieces they brought in in the secondary as well to
marry with the defensive line in the past, Rush Jamiah Holland,
my former teammate, exceptional young talent. I think he takes
a step and becomes an All Pro player this year.
And also Pulso a debo also one of my former
teammates I played for it. Yeah, so I see the optimism.
(08:28):
But to Isaiah's point, offensively, it's tough and and the
division that they're playing there, you gotta see the egles twice,
you gotta see the commandis twice.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Cowboys we will see. But in that in that division
is it's tough.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
It's challenging.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
It is tough and challenging.
Speaker 11 (08:40):
But come on, so again, right, optimism, we have so
much of it this season. Seriously, the offense is gonna
come along. They're gonna come on strong, and they don't
forget about Slayton, and Slayton does help their help them
leak and Russell open up the field. I'm gonna try
to convince y'all for the show they're saying.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
With their whole test, I feel it. He definitely means
is the talent enough?
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Right?
Speaker 3 (09:03):
I think for me as will it come to because
sometimes you can't see what you can't see, and when
you're in the room and when you're in OTAs, we
can only see a little sliver of what they give us.
But once the season starts and they get out there,
what are they putting on the field and has it
all really gelled? The way that they needed to to
really be successful. So in June we can have all
(09:23):
the optimism we want.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
All right, that's what it's here for Jilly.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
But is it a must win season for the Giants,
especially for head coach Brian Daball.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
What do you think of sean must win? Always? Yes,
there's always must win.
Speaker 11 (09:34):
Nobody goes into an NFL season thinking I have room
to lose. There's always a must win. But you know,
when you think about Brian dave Ball, you think about
the history of why the Giants would even bring him in. Right,
there's a lack of us at the quarterback position with
the Giants, and that's one of the reasons why he
brought him in. He worked with Tua when he was
in Bama. He worked with Hurts when he was in Bama.
(09:57):
He worked with Josh Allen, as we know, when he
was in Buffalo, he had a cup of tea behind
working with Brett Farr. So he's worked with a caliber
of great quarterbacks in the NFL and bringing him over,
there was no doubt that he was going to be
the guy to make that position run well.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Didn't work out with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 11 (10:15):
I think now they gave an opportunity were bringing in
two veterans in the Russell Wilson and a Jameis Winston
to be able to produce. So I think it is
a must win for him right this second. Granted we
have the hardest schedule in the NFL. We understand that
the Shrimp schedule is insane. However, I think in New
York there is a must and you have to win
right now.
Speaker 10 (10:35):
It's definitely a must win. And he knows that, right.
Speaker 9 (10:38):
The GM knows that he knows that as the head coach,
and the reason being is because the only reason why
he's still there is because they understand the situation that
they put him in without a quarterback of his choice. Right,
So for the first time, he's going to have a
veteran quarterback that he doesn't have question marks around, right,
So now he's comfortable in that sense. However, he is
definitely on the line because most coaches, you want to
(11:00):
see progress. You want to see a progression. You want
to see, you are talking about being bullish, to see
that skill going up, right, you want to see that
bar graph going up. However, in his first year he
went nine to seven. Right, twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three,
he went six and eleven, right, and then last year
twenty twenty four, he went three and fourteen. Last time
I checked that as an inverse relationship with a winning record, right,
(11:20):
So that is he's not going in a direction that
you need to go as an organization, and you just
mentioned it. Now under those circumstances, he now walks into
the twenty twenty five seasons with the hardest schedule in football.
It's not looking good for the New York Giants. It's
not looking good for Brian Dabole. I hope that they
were able to put together some good production out there,
but it's not I'm not very optimistic.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
Should I say, like you said with shot it's always
must win in NFL, I agree, but I honestly, I
think it's unrealistic for them to really think that they
have a chance at the super Bowl. Honestly, like I said,
with the strength of schedule in the division alonge you
notice send the commanders twice. I don't think Brian dava
I don't think his his job is on the line
(12:02):
this year. Progress. You want to see progress, You want
to see a upticking wins. Like you say, the downfall
of the wins and the losses. You want to see
the wins start to produce, but must win. That's I
don't think that's realistic.
Speaker 11 (12:16):
I just want to remind y'all that the Johns won
the Super Bowl. You sneaking in nine and seven in
twenty eleven, and you know that was there. So when
we talk about the Johns there build a little bit
different than New York.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
All you have to do is get a slither in.
Speaker 11 (12:30):
Russell Wilson, that defense Malik. The guys that they have
around have the capability to do just that. And I
agree with y'all don't think he's on the chopping block.
I don't, but I will say this though, if if
you go, you gotta think of it. It's a long
line that has to make these things happen.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
But bear with me.
Speaker 11 (12:49):
If Russell Wilson goes out there and doesn't produce well,
if then Jameis Winston you put him in, he doesn't
produce well, then which ain't none of this is going
to happen. And then Jackson's guard goes in and he
doesn't produce.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
And then if with the Coats, Daniel Jones.
Speaker 11 (13:06):
Goes out there and takes the coat of the playoffs. Okay,
then we might have some questions about that coach, but
we won't wow because in twenty twenty two, guess what
he did Coach of the Year. All he needs is
his quarterback. Giants are in a great position.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Yeah, that was a lot of layers and then I
got it.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
That's a lot of ingredients I got there.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
But there was something you really wanted to point out
for us to keep our eye on as we head
into the twenty twenty five seasons for the Giants. I
told him, we only see what we can see, so
open up our eyes.
Speaker 11 (13:40):
And it leads into that a little bit right of
what I was saying, If that's the only thing they
could maybe I don't know what's going on in New York,
but I tell you this, New York Giants, just as
you know when coach Coughlin was there, he says the
same things all the time. One of the things that
stood out to me is faces may change, but expectations
never will, right, And that's what we have in New York,
and the expectation is constantly to win championships.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
So that's the mindset in New York.
Speaker 11 (14:04):
Trust me, Even though I know the NFC, this is
a tough division.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
But look for the Giants to surprise everybody.
Speaker 10 (14:11):
Surprise, surprise.
Speaker 9 (14:12):
So when you say surprise, I want a realistic projection
from you. Right, So you just gave us a depth
chart in your eyes, you said Russell Wilson, right, Jameis Winson,
and then we started talking about Jackson dark. If you
get to the fact work darts in the game, then
the season is pretty much over. I would imagine what
is a realistic projection for the New York Giants record
this year? Knowing that the division that they're in and
(14:32):
knowing the schedule that they have.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
I think we could pull I think we give with
non wins. Non we're gonna get nine.
Speaker 11 (14:39):
I think we get non wins, be competitive, and then
at the end, who knows, you may slip in. I
think non wins is realistic with this, with this, with
this division and the schedule listener.
Speaker 10 (14:50):
Okay, so let me let me let me piggyback off
of that.
Speaker 9 (14:52):
In this division, right, you got the Washington Commanders were
beating the first game, okay, September seven.
Speaker 10 (14:56):
So Washington, Washingtonmmanders, Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 9 (15:02):
What is it going to be your record versus those
three of oponents in those two games that you face them.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Uh, we're gonna beat the Commanders twice. Sweep. Yeah, sweeping Commanders.
Speaker 11 (15:10):
I have I see an opportunity Dallas.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
We may go fifty to fifty.
Speaker 11 (15:16):
And then the same thing with the Eagles. That's how
I feel. We're going to win both at home. Yeah,
which we were catching them slipping early. They still don't
know what they're doing. And it's coming to the sophomore slums
are real. I'm not I'm not. I'm not hoping for
downfalls over there because I like Jay Nails, but this
is a real thing.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Okay, you said nine wins, nine wins keep table.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
At hitch coach.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Oh, yes, not wins keeps.
Speaker 11 (15:40):
Every everybody is staying the same over there, especially because
because this is our backs against the wall. The beautiful
thing about when you're back against the wall. Guess what,
you know, everything's in front of you. You ain't got
to worry about your back. And that's what we're coming
out doing this year. I'm excited for the team, I'm
excited for the position we're in. I'm excited because we
are prime time New York and we're gonna show while
(16:02):
New York.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Johns are the giant said that you're excited, Yeah, coming
for you.
Speaker 11 (16:09):
I'm excitedly I'll see I remember this conversation well.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
The clip we're keeping it and then we will roll
it back in September seventh.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
We will immediately be calling you up.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Start the group chatting out all right, Seahawks wide receiver
Cooper Coms dragging the show in a little bit. We're
gonna check in to see how he'ssapting to life in Seattle.
Plus get his thoughts on his new people, Stam Darnold, Isaiah,
what else is going on today?
Speaker 9 (16:33):
Plus our guys Aron arm Said is going to give
us the state of the Dolphins as they head into
an important offseason for quel be to talk about and
head coach Mike McDaniel, all that and so much more.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
On a Monday gmf B. Let's go see.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Now it's my turn to p Yeah, okay, I'm to
talk about a real.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
Talk about.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Good money.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
All right, welcome back into GMFB, and we have.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
To flex a little bit with our guys.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
For On Armstead, who announced his retirement just a few
months ago, he's hanging with us for the next three days,
putting him to work. All right, retirement, huh, to be
on the field, not up in here.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
All right.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
You've played with the Saints and of course for the
Miami Dolphins, polarizing players in Miami. A lot of personality
for sure. But let's start with our QB. Tua talking
by Lowa and I want to start on the field
with two in your thoughts.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
I think he's special. I do, I really do. I've
been very loudly by my support of Toua as a teammate,
as a fan. I think he can do really special
things with the football in his hand. I may be
the one that originated the Drew Brees comparison, and I'll
stand on that.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
I will.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
He's very talented. His anticipation is accuracy, his precision. It's
very few guys that's walked his plane of deck can
do what he can do with.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
The football in his hand.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Why do you stand on that though?
Speaker 8 (18:00):
I've seen it. I've seen it in close proximity. I've
seen his preparation. I've seen them. We've seen them collectively
as football as we've seen him improved since his rookie
year until now. You know, he let the league in
passing yards a couple of years ago. He leads the
league in completion percentage. Every year, those are winning, that's
what those are winning statue. And I think even even
more this year, he takes another step in his leadership.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
He takes another step in.
Speaker 8 (18:23):
The fourth quarter two men and drills those late game
situations that really separate the good from the great.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
I think it's time.
Speaker 9 (18:29):
You know, I don't disagree with the fact that he
is a talented He's a talented guy, right, great.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
QB when he's present on the field.
Speaker 9 (18:35):
Unfortunately, as fans, we've had to bear witness to some
of the injuries that he sustained. We understand that on
the football team in the locker room, these are our brothers,
rights our family, these are our guys. Not only was
that your brother? Is that your brother? But you're responsible
for blocking for him. So when you have a guy
like like your quarterback that gets hurt, what is that
like seeing him go down and wildam, What were some
(18:56):
of the conversations that you guys had while he was
trying to recover and get back on the field.
Speaker 6 (18:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (19:00):
No, it's tough, it's tough, it's challenging and especially seeing
the ones that we've seen with to us specifically, you
think about the man instantly, you know what I mean.
You remove the game, you remove the sport completely. Just
think about the man and with him in his last
concussion that he had earlier Week three this this past season,
(19:20):
it was a lot of talk about retirement circulating in
the news, but being with him and seeing.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Him, that was never part of the discussion. That was
never a thought.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
He's he's married to this game, like genuinely, he loves
this game so much. Everything that his entire being is football.
He's been he's been doing it since he was old
enough to walk, you know, So our conversations was really him.
He was just talking about getting back and he would
pop into every position room and going O line and
get a deeper understanding of protections and where we're sliding
(19:51):
and how we're seeing blitz is he going to receivers
and they're getting deeper understanding of timing and the concept
same thing with the running backs and tight end. So uh,
he was just he was so eager to get back.
It was never any thought of walking away from the game.
Speaker 11 (20:03):
Yeah, another player on the office side of the ball
that is a power.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Name is Tyreek Hill Cheetah.
Speaker 11 (20:09):
Yeah, geez, everybody wants to know more about this guy.
He's a great SoundBite, its talented, is completely unmatched, hard worker.
But you've been around him personally? What's something about him
that we don't know how?
Speaker 4 (20:21):
What makes him tick?
Speaker 8 (20:23):
He's very passionate, you know what I mean, which I'm
sure a.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Lot a lot of people know that about him.
Speaker 8 (20:30):
I think the way the season ended last year for
Tyreek and the whole dilemma with him coming out the game,
I think it has ignited him and the season and
go the way that he wanted. We had no Pro
Bowlers on the initial ballot, like all those things fuel
a guy like Tyrek Hill. He's a He's an underdog,
small school, small player, you know what I mean. But
(20:52):
he plays big, big personality. I think we see a
whole new Tyrek Hill. I think we see the Super
Bowl champion, we see the All Pro. We see Tyrek
Hill maybe two k you know, they might go for
the two thousand receiving yards this year.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
He's motivated. Man, you see him on the track.
Speaker 8 (21:08):
He's like, I'm super excited to watch Cheetah ball out
this year.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Okay, the is insane.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
But we can't talk about big personalities in Miami and
not talk about head coach and Mike Vicdaniel. First, let's
watching enjoy the sights and sounds of head coach by mcdanny, who's.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Hey, if we had a helmetless football league, you'd be
the face of it.
Speaker 10 (21:32):
I'm fighting myself, and myself is winning.
Speaker 6 (21:35):
Passing, accepted Jayleen Vesey, and it bounds totally disappointed me.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
He called that he was going to come back and
have a pick six, not a pickfield goal.
Speaker 10 (21:46):
My intent is never to go viral.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Georgia is definitely the best SEC school.
Speaker 6 (21:51):
I'm so glad to can't hear me.
Speaker 7 (21:52):
I'm very aware that sometimes myself doesn't come off hilarious
to everybody.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
And so then I.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
YouTube viewed showing all this high school from you, right,
and bro.
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Your your technique was trash.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
I would like a lot of things.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I'm just trying not to get fired.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Uh scenes He's like, that's the motto.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
I think it's all you're trying to keep our jobs.
We know how entertaining he is. I got to see
him close up before he.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Was a head coach, when he was in San Francisco,
and I covered that to you so closely. But tell
us what you knows him as his player behind the scenes,
because there's so many more layers of what we see
out the podium.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
No, honestly, though, what you what you see, MJ is
that's Mike. That's Mike.
Speaker 8 (22:31):
And that's what I appreciated about him the most. He's
genuine He's genuinely him. It's no situation too serious.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
You know. He always likes to just.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
Bring fun and bring life to any situation. So toughest moments,
when you're at your highest, when you're at your lowest,
he's even killed.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
And you appreciate that about your head coach.
Speaker 8 (22:48):
You don't want someone that's getting rattled, that's losing it,
you know, in big game situations. He's always a constant,
constant demeanor, constant mentality.
Speaker 9 (22:57):
Now, I love everything about coach McDaniels. He's different than
all the other head coaches in the league. He has
his own personality, has his own swag. I see you
brought some of the swag the heat that he takes
on the field as well.
Speaker 10 (23:07):
But we want to know about this coming season.
Speaker 9 (23:10):
If everything is all good, everybody's healthy, tools in the
in the saddle calling the shots.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
You're able to get the.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
Ball to ty Rig Waddle, all the guys, all the resources.
What does the outlook for the twenty twenty five Miami
Dolphins look like?
Speaker 4 (23:23):
The sealing is high. Honestly, we heard what shot talk
about the Giants.
Speaker 10 (23:27):
You can't look at me like that breaks But no.
Speaker 8 (23:34):
I think if we got two or under center, yeah
every snap. Yeah, there is no game on the schedule,
the Dolphins cannot win.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
I feel that strongly.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
Another variable to me, Jalen Phillips and Bradley Chubb. We
can get those two guys healthy on the defense, along
with emerging Chop Robinson, it changes the entire dynamic of
the defense back to the Giants. The defensive line is dangerous, Yes,
very dangerous. I feel strongly about those guys in New York.
I feel the same way about those guys in Miami,
Zach Seeler, Bradley Chubb, Jalen Phillips, Chop Robinson. That defensive
(24:03):
line healthy, top three defensive line in the league.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Monster, How you're gonna do with Holland? What did Holland go?
Speaker 10 (24:14):
What team did he go?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
I forget. I'm a huge fan, A huge fan of Javon.
He's going to be great in New York. Miami. We
got some working We got an actual chance.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Not put it to a nicer note, because we did
get a great snapshot of you and coach especially right, look.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
At that.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Swag clean, Yes, what was going on here? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (24:36):
So this is at my retirement party April fifth, down
in Miami. Money Mike came, show, showed love. Just we
just we shared our moments of gratitude for each other.
I was like one of his first signing, maybe his
first free agents signing, as after he got the head
coaching job and then traded for Tyreek Hill the same day,
which was kind of crazy because I didn't even really
get my.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Chances on the news.
Speaker 8 (24:58):
You know, I signed and then we got Tyreek, So
it's all about the Tyreek.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Is all good though, Appreciate you, Mike. Yeah, Money, Mike
funny Mike. Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
We're going talking more about Money Mike in a second.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
All right.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I love that the Jaguars open training camp in just
over a month. But their fans got some good news
on Sunday as Travis Hunter is officially signed, sealed and
delivered in Jacksonville, and if on Network, insider Ian Rappaport
is reporting the second overall pick in this year's draft
has signed his rookie deal. It's a four year contract
worth more than forty six million dollars with a thirty
(25:31):
million dollars signing bonus. With Hunter signed, that leaves Justin
Mark Stewart of the Bengals and Today Baron of the
Broncos as the only first round picks yet to sign
their rookie deal. Jackson general manager James Sladstone recently spoke
getting Hunter up to speed on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 13 (25:48):
Travis is most naturally comfortable, most naturally in tune on
the defensive side of the ball. We wanted to load
him offensively throughout this window.
Speaker 14 (25:58):
To ensure that by the time we got to training
camp we had a runway built up on that side,
because there's so much more nuanced, so much more adjustments
in real time on the offensive side of the ball
that would require a lot more learning.
Speaker 13 (26:12):
I do think there's a little bit of a misconception
and that it's wide receiver first, corner second as much
as it is the learning methodology of wide receiver through
this phase and then continuing to trickle in more defense,
since that is his primary background.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
When we come back, we'll be joined by new Seahawks
wide receiver and friend of the show, Cooper Cup.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
We'll talk about his move to Seattle and.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
His business venture as he moves in into the north busk.
Speaker 9 (26:41):
There he is.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
What's that comber?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
We'll see him on the other side of the fringing.
Speaker 10 (26:55):
Good morning football.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Our next guest is a super Bowl champion. He's a
Super Bowl MVP. He's a longtime front of the show
and one of the newest members of the Seattle Seahawks. Guys,
please welco man Cooper Cut.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Great to see you, Coop. Is that a Dodo coffee
that you're drinking there?
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Because we wanted to That's all I drink.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Okay, Well, we'll get to that in a second.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Back in March, you signed with the Seahawks. Two questions,
how's it going so far? And what was it about
the Seahawks that really attracted you to the franchise.
Speaker 15 (27:31):
Yeah, well, you know, it's going great and it's been
a lot of fun for growing through, learning this offense,
going through things for the first time all together. I
think that's that really is good to the next question.
That's one of the things that I really liked about
this was stepping in there. I was going to be
able to be a part of it from the ground up,
with this new offense that was coming in and you know,
learn it with the guys, and you know, when I
(27:53):
came into this league, I was able to be a
part of an offense that was just growing, that was
just starting out and being at the foundation of something
understanding why we do things and you know, being a
part of.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
The growth of you know, this is how we do things.
Speaker 15 (28:05):
This house is going to adapt and grow as the
season goes on, as time goes on. That was something
that was excited about. And it's an offense that I
believe in.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
Yeah, I know, it's office that you believe in. You've
been an absolute dog in his league for some time.
You've played with quarterbacks Jared Golf, you played with Matthew Stafford,
and now after you've signed with Seattle back in March,
they signed Sam Donald. What are you looking forward to
most about working with Sam Darnold in this new city,
in this new offense.
Speaker 15 (28:30):
Yeah, I mean I've been watching Sam for a long time.
You know, something that he's always been an incredible throw
up the football, and you know, you watch him the
ability to move and throw off of any base.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
There's no question that you can spend the ball.
Speaker 15 (28:43):
And early in his career playing for a lot of
different teams, a lot of different offensive coordinators, lost stuff
going on there and wasn't able to get things to
kind of, you know, fall in place as a as
a team where.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
He was at.
Speaker 15 (28:53):
But you saw over the last couple of years, even
though some of stuff that he did in San Francisco
and it's limited time there, but also obviously in Minnesota
when when you have pieces around him, when you've got
pieces around that guys can that can make plays and
being a part of an offense that I think is
leading the forefront of innovation in this league. And when
you have things like that in place, you've seen the
(29:14):
success that you can have. And so I'm really excited
about being out there with Salmon. I'm just being able
to be with him during Oka's incredibly smart human being
smart football player, and man he loves to compete, which
you know, it's the recipe for a really good quarterback.
Speaker 8 (29:26):
Coop, I want to check in on your on your
mental You had such an amazing run with the with
the Rams, Triple crown winner, super Bowl MVP, just legendary,
legendary time with the Rams.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
After battling with injuries the past couple of years. What's
your what's your mindset going into this.
Speaker 8 (29:42):
Year with Seattle? Do you feel like you have to
prove yourself again?
Speaker 6 (29:45):
Yeah, well, I think there's always a piece of that.
Speaker 15 (29:46):
I mean, I think every year it feels like there's
a piece of proving yourself over and over and over again.
And that's kind of the mindset I've taken my entire
football career. It's been a piece of you know, my
DNA is to go out there and prove that you
can do it.
Speaker 6 (29:59):
And so there's not.
Speaker 15 (30:00):
So much this added thing of anything changing because you know,
the career and you know, or the team change and
things like that. It's more so just about you know,
my continual just growth as a football player, and I
want to go out there and continue to you know,
be a football player. Is improving, It's getting better year
by year, and there's let's let's lesson let's about feeling
like I need to prove anything to anyone else, more
(30:21):
so about being able to prove it to myself, I
can go out there and play a game at a
high level and and continue to do that and continue
that growth better than that I've had over the course
of my career.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Uns are on mentioned your time there with the Rams.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
I want to just roll it back for a second,
because that final workout, what did that mean to you
and how did that come about?
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (30:39):
So, uh, it was cool. I mean we you know,
a lot of it was that.
Speaker 15 (30:43):
A lot of it is the group that I work
out with was a part of just workouts daily. And
then you know, we were actually leaving that day, my
family and I were to head up to Seattle and
you know, with and and Matthew showed up and just
wanted I mean, Matthew would originally agreed that he was
going to do the workout with us, and then he says,
you know, something happened course at the last seconds, No,
(31:06):
I can't do that, but yeah.
Speaker 6 (31:09):
That got you.
Speaker 15 (31:10):
But now I appreciate those guys coming out and obviously
what they've meant to me and being able to just
spend a little time together was was really cool, really meaningful,
really meaningful time for those guys.
Speaker 11 (31:19):
You played alongside of Pulka and Okula with the Rams
a young star and he also appair with another young
star and Jackson Smith and nigg. But can you give
us a little bit of your veteran insight and a
scott and report on Jackson?
Speaker 4 (31:34):
What's impressed you so far being around him?
Speaker 15 (31:38):
Yeah, man, that's a good question. I mean, there is
there's a lot. I mean he I think the first
thing that struck me was he's a lot strong.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
He plays a lot stronger, and he's a lot stronger.
Speaker 15 (31:49):
Than I think people know about Jackson, and there's a
there's a play strength that comes along with that.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
Being able to be on the field and.
Speaker 15 (31:55):
His decisiveness is you know, is his I think's his
belief in himself and what he can do and then
being able to go out there and just make it happen.
Incredibly competitive and uh, you know, I think that's that's
one of those things as as a receiver. You get
into some positions right hey, I'm I'm impressed, and I've
got a plan. Boom, I hit my first move, I
hit my counter and that's just still not there.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
But the competitiveness to just say, I just know I'm
not gonna lose. I'm going to find a way to win.
Speaker 15 (32:20):
You know, Jackson has that's similar to what you know
Pooka was like coming in as well. Just the competitiveness
and the play strength. They're both very similar. And so
I'm really excited about being out there with Jackson's awesome dude,
wants to get better, wants to yeah, ask all the
right questions, and is striving.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
He's striving.
Speaker 15 (32:39):
He's striving to find ways to to find an edge,
and it's gonna be a lot of fun playing from
this year.
Speaker 8 (32:44):
Cool when the when the schedule comes out, we all
we all like to lock in on week one. We
all all of our training and our goals. We focus
on winning that first game and starting the season fast.
But I have to mention November sixteen, it's your first
time back in so far.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
What's your what's your thoughts?
Speaker 15 (32:59):
Yeah, you know, like you said, I really try not
to let myself get there. Like you said, you've got
to focus on the first game. There's so much that
has to happen still, even that first game, I'm not
even I'm not watching forty nine er film.
Speaker 6 (33:12):
You know, Like we're we're preparing, we're growing, we're.
Speaker 15 (33:15):
Building our stuff as a as a team and doing
what we can do to be the best versions of
ourselves right now and seeing who we're going to be
as we prepare for training camp, and then it's can be,
you know, getting ready for the Niners. And I just
can't let myself get to this point where I'm looking
at these other games that just you know, just it
just doesn't work for me. It's not how I operate.
And you know, trying my best not to look there
(33:36):
or go there. I know that the emotions and all
that stuff will be there when that time comes, but.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Try not to want it. Broh the forward.
Speaker 6 (33:46):
Trust me. I would love to a great time.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Man, Look cool.
Speaker 9 (33:52):
Now we have to give you an opportunity to talk
about the lightning boat energy bus head coach that used
to have down here at LA mister Sean McVay. We
had him on the show last week. It was absolutely awesome.
But tell us what does he mean you? What has
he meant to you over your entire career?
Speaker 15 (34:07):
Yeah, you know, Sean has been such a huge part
of building me into the player that I am today
and incredibly thankful for the time that we've had together.
And you know, there's no doubt in my mind like
there's I'm not who I am today without Sean as
the head coach and the way that he coached and
the way that he you know, built guys up and
want guys to understand the game. And if you're a
guy that came in with the mentality you guys, if
(34:28):
you wanted to know what was going off, you wanted
the intense, if you wanted the reasons that we're doing
what we're doing, and he's ready to give you everything
you need to go out there and next year at
a high level. And obviously an incredible football coach. So yeah,
it was a really fun time being with Sean. And
it's a you know, it's a tough thing.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
We move on. Tough thing, we move on. But yeah,
I'm always gonna love Sean.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
That's love, that's respect.
Speaker 9 (34:50):
Now you are now playing for the Seahawks. You are
in what I considered to be my city. I was
born and raised in Seattle. I consider it to be
the headquarters of coffee. Right, everybody in her mama drinks
coffee in Seattle. And we know about all the other brands,
but you and your wife Anna started Dodo Coffee Company,
and you guys, are you started about a year ago.
And now you guys are bringing that se Seattle. We
(35:11):
need all the details and tell us about it because
we need to get something.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
It's early over here.
Speaker 15 (35:15):
Now look, I'm gonna send y'all. I'm gonna send you
all some for sure. And it's been so much fun.
It's like you said, it's a family owned thing. It's
something that we want to build a company that we're like, hey,
we're going to use this all if you're gonna build
something that I want to use this. I want to
be so good that I want to use it all
the time. And so that's what we've done. No cut corners.
It's just like, how can we make this the best
possible thing for how we want to operate, best ingredients,
(35:37):
making sure we're not putting anything that's not good into
the coffee out of the coffee shop, or sourcing, you know,
sourcing milk from a creamery, doing our own syrups, doing
all this different stuff where we're having a local company
make them. You know, we roast the coffee that we
have come in comes from an import that only wants
to deal with the top one percent. He wants to
deal with people the right way. He wants to protect
the farmers. He wants to protect this industry from really
(35:59):
what is a lot of corruption, a lot of really
bad stuff going on as you go down the chain,
keeping the export poitation from being the people at the
very beginning, right, but being able to find ways to
support them, bringing all the way through to a point
where it's like this is just going to be a
wholesome quality products all the way through. And it's been
a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed it, and at
(36:20):
the end of the day, I get to drink it
every day, which I do.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
I love that the mission statement is perfect, is good enough.
Where did the name come from though? Is it Dodo
asn't the bird?
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Yeah, so the name is Dodo like the bird. It's
really my son, my son, my uh and his cousin.
Speaker 15 (36:39):
They used to jump on the couch and jump off
and it was called Dodo for jumping and they would
just you know, it was like, you know, two year
olds that was everything like Dodo for jumping. And so
when we're coming up with a name, like hey, this
is a family thing. This would be something that's a
fun thing that we get to do and pass along
to our kids. Eventually, and so just this name that
like reminds us of the fun, of the joy of
what this gets to be.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Oh, I love that cool.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
I need to know.
Speaker 9 (37:02):
Is there some Dodo swag online that we can copy,
we can grab because I see the hat.
Speaker 10 (37:06):
I need one of those joys.
Speaker 15 (37:07):
Can I go support go, look, go, look, there's some
there's some good stuff going. And my wife does most
of the design stuff for the merchandise, and she's a
pretty good job with this.
Speaker 6 (37:16):
Just check it out. It's uh, some good stuff.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
That's what's up.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
I love that, Coop, Thank you so much for joining us.
We will of course be keeping a close eye on
you on the field.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Good luck this season.
Speaker 11 (37:29):
Have we ever signed one for Micah and someone who's jersey?
Speaker 6 (37:32):
The jersey I've never got.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
I never got one, I've never gone. I called you
on last year about it. I never got one. Bro.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
I just want a jerseys bro put in my house.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
We're on, We're on, We're on.
Speaker 8 (37:56):
I'm go open the post that final and Tom Jersey
it's em I'm supporting.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Maybe you that gave me a jersey, I had supported
you too. That's good if you know I appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
I'm good.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
If you weren't watching that, you think it was just
a fan like Bugg and Tom Berry about a jersey.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
No, it was Mike Parking.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Let's be in a good mood, which is great. I
heard Fanataspress was a blast. But we gave both of
these guys a chance to really hype up their teams.
Why they would come leave you out? Man, Go ahead,
take a deep breath. Why are the Cowboys going to
the Super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (38:32):
And action take a really deep breath.
Speaker 9 (38:40):
Wait a minute, mister Jackson. Okay, so we talked about
the Giants. Okay, we talked about Miami and respect to
both organizations, but they're not the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 10 (38:48):
And we know that the Dallas Cowboys this.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
Year are going to be a problem.
Speaker 9 (38:52):
Now, when I say are going to be a problem,
I mean yes, they're going to be at the top
of their division.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Will they win it? I don't know.
Speaker 9 (38:58):
It's going to be either them or it's gonna be Philadelphia.
But there are three really strong teams in the NFC
each You noticed I said three and not four.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
But last year was the first year.
Speaker 9 (39:12):
That Dallas hasn't had any real success in a while.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Right, They had a down season.
Speaker 9 (39:16):
Okay, and the reason why they had a down season
because they had a ton of injuries.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
They lost their QB one.
Speaker 9 (39:21):
There's not one team in this league that has been
good and had a good season while losing their QB one. Right,
Dak Prescott is that guy for them. He tore his
hamstring literally off the bone. Since then, it's been to prepare.
Since then, he's done OTA. Since then, he's done the
mini camps, So they have that in place. They have
really focused on establishing this offensive line.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
T arm. You know how important it is to have
a solid old line.
Speaker 9 (39:44):
These guys now have three first round picks on the
offensive line. Okay, they have replaced Zach Martin. He's gone,
he's retired, but they've replaced him, so they have a
solid front. They really want to get back to running
the ball. They have picked up multiple offensive line coaches.
They picked up one of the best old line coaches
in the league. They picked up one of the best
line coaches in college football. The emphasis is in the trenches.
(40:07):
They want to play bully ball, and if you could
play bully ball, you can do all the things you
want to in the passing game. Oh yeah, the passing
game there's a dude by the name of c. D.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
Lamb out there. Oh and if you didn't think.
Speaker 9 (40:19):
That that was enough, they picked of a dude by
the name of George Piggins. Oh yeah, So you got
both of those guys on the outside. And if you
want to have both guys covered by cornerbacks with the
safety over the top, then who is.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Going to be working the middle.
Speaker 9 (40:31):
Well, you're gonna have a linebacker and a linebacker has
to cover somebody by the name of Jake Ferguson Roll
who had a Pro Bowl year two years ago. He
disappeared last year. Why because he was injured. So now
when you get all these guys back offensively, this team
is going to be a problem. But as much as
I believe that their offense is nasty and has always
been at the top of the league, I ain't believe
(40:52):
that their defense.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Is going to be their calling card.
Speaker 9 (40:54):
Yes, their defense, right, They picked up Aaron White Cotton
out of New York, Jetsey defensive line coach from there
who's world renowned. These guys have not only Micah Parsons,
they got a healthy Sam Williams. They picked up Johntay
Fowler Junior, who was there just a couple of years ago,
but left to go play with Dan Quinn. He just
happened to be one of the best pass rushers in
the league last year, quietly out there with that successful
(41:15):
Commanders team. These guys are going to elicit a ton
of pressure on their on the ball out on the outside.
They have really good defensive backs. Right, they got treymont
Dix who was going to be healthy eventually. Right, they
got Jaron Bland, who was a ballhowk both of those
guys together, They picked up Rebel out there in the draft.
These guys have Kyri Elam out there as well. He's
going to be playing out there as well. So these
(41:36):
guys have really good secondary and they picked up some
very sneaky free agents at the linebacker position as well,
and in Sam Bourne and Kenneth Murray Junior.
Speaker 10 (41:44):
These guys have done a lot of work Solomon Thomas
on the d line as well, very very sneaky, not
a lot of flash.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Right, you heard about the George Pickens, But these guys
gonna be a problem.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Isaiah. We said, take a deep breath, yea.
Speaker 11 (41:55):
He needed a couple of deep press because you know
what happens.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
He didn't want try to argue with him.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
He didn't want to don PC's.
Speaker 11 (42:01):
I've had an issue with PC's along the way right,
and I'll call it. I got a Troubleshoe told them
all this information, and you know what, they came back
and told me, turn it on. That's all you gotta do.
Sometimes in the Dallas Cowboys, they got all that, but
they don't know how to turn it on.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
So I hear you.
Speaker 6 (42:15):
But it's not just they not they not.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Do you think argument to break?
Speaker 10 (42:20):
They got a child, boys,
