Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Money Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Josh Allen, I could say it, it's nice and easy,
and that Bill's quarterback.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
We say his name a whole lot.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
It picked up some hardware after being the name in
the NFL MVP last season.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
But ultimately his team coming up it'll short of.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
That ultimate prize, the Lombardi Trophy, after falling to the
Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, and he told SI
dot Com the ring is still the thing that he's chasing. Yeah,
pretty much every single player right Alan's saying, quote, you know,
it's such a great honor, and I do appreciate being
honored for my work.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
But at the same time, I.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Still didn't win a Super Bowl, didn't win a ring,
and that is the only goal. It's the only focus
that I've ever had going into this league. You know,
it's tough, right Like when you have in the AFC
a guy like Patrick Mahomes who seemingly every single year
and I get it, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles won
the Super Bowl, but at least to get through Patrick
Mahomes is not necessarily the easiest thing to do. So
I ask you, who's that player, who's that team that
(01:17):
can get over the hump and finally dethrone the Kansas
City Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
You know what, this is a loaded question?
Speaker 5 (01:23):
It is This is a very loaded question because there's
two parts to it. You have the quarterback aspect and
then you have the team aspect, right, and we know that.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
The QB leads well.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
How the QB goes usually how the team goes. So
with that in mind, I am going to go with
the team and the quarterback that I feel has the
most momentum as of late, right, and I believe that
is Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills. I think in
the AFC, these guys are strong. Obviously, Josh Allen has
improved every single year. Josh Allen just won the MVP
in the league. Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills. Over
(01:51):
the last three years that went wild Card, Divisional and
now they went it all the way to the AFC
Championship Game. I believe that these guys have increased in
their production every year. Now the quarterback is probably at
the height of his game, and I think that they're
one game away from going to the big time.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Show they are.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
But yet I look at a James Cook in that
backfield contract issues there, we still question some of the
offensive pieces at that wide receiver spot around Josh Allen,
good answer, he got their home stretch here. Is there
a different team that you have on your head?
Speaker 6 (02:20):
It is? It is.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
We see Patrick Mahons he's gate keeping these rings like
Michael Jordan did back in the day. He didn't let
Charles Barkley get one. It didn't let John Stockton and
Karl Malon get one. Patrick mahoonmes is doing the same thing.
In the AFC.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It's Tom Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 7 (02:37):
Lamar Jackson, I see Lamar being the guy in the
Baltimore Ravens being the team to dethrowing the Chiefs. In
the AFC, they get over that hump. Finally, this year,
the roster is stacked. There's no better time than now.
Their latest acquisition JayR Alexander and DeAndre Hopkins on offense
(02:59):
to bake those big third down conversions.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
They just pay Forshad Bateman.
Speaker 7 (03:03):
The offensive line is stacked, right Stanley out standon left tackle,
the tight end duo, like, we can really go go
down this roster and the time is Now I think
this is the year that we he finally not we,
I don't have a dog in the race.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Shout out the Dolphins this year.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
I think Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens get past
the Kansas City Chiefs in Baltimore in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Yeah they have.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
They do have, at least in my mind, to the
best roster in the NFL, which is hard to top.
But is there an up and coming team for shot?
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Oh yeah, we'll find it out.
Speaker 8 (03:34):
Yeah, listen, we love Lamar Jackson, we love Josh Allen.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
We know what they bring to the table.
Speaker 8 (03:38):
But y'all missing of what's going on over here in
Sofi Stadium. Again, it's the charge of Art. Justin Herbert
is going to be the guy to d thrown. And
we ain't talking about somebody can win a couple of games,
actually win the Super Bowl, actually de thrown him. It
is the Charger And now you actually is it the
team or is it the player?
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Now?
Speaker 8 (03:59):
We like we like passing yards, don't we? I love
it in thousands sounds good. He was a fast to
get to ten thousand yards. And guess who we dethrown?
Speaker 5 (04:06):
That record from Patty Mahomes, y'all forget about that.
Speaker 8 (04:10):
We like tds, right, he has the most tds in
the first four consecutive seasons. We like passing yards, right,
he has his second most passing yards in the first
four seasons, behind Andrew Luck. Who Andrew Luck was coached
by Jim Harball in college. And guess who's the head
coach now with the Chargers, Jim Harball.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
You see how this works. We like consistency he has.
Speaker 8 (04:30):
He is the only only quarterback to throw for four
thousand yards his first four consecutive seasons. So with all
that in mind, plus their defense, don't get me started
about their defense.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
The defense is loaded.
Speaker 8 (04:41):
And I told you they got the best duo running
back before. So as a team collectively, we got to
start talking about these charges.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Now, question for you, because I know me and my
boy tr I'm gonna ahead and pull down.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
Yeah, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
Get Now you've brought up all those stats.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yeah, what's the playoff stats? I said, what? Just ain't
not that shot? I said, what you say that? That's
the question that we all.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Want to have.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
We don't want to talk about the individual status. We
understand that the QB has the ball out, But along
with the QB the team all three phases of the game,
special teams, offense, defense.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
They got to be hitting, and they have to.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Get y'all to the playoffs in order to even think
about de throwing them boys out there in casey I'm.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
With you, Isaiah.
Speaker 7 (05:27):
I heard a lot of numbers in thousand, forty thousand
of this individual. They playoff wins.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
So what hold their role?
Speaker 6 (05:37):
Y'all?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
We want to go to the playoff role?
Speaker 2 (05:38):
It was in a SA.
Speaker 8 (05:44):
You know what, do y'all want to talk about stats?
Then let's talk about stats. Then watch o'all, don't we
how y'all like that? Okay, you're talking about the playoff,
says y'all. Bring up Josh Allen. You bring up Lamar Jackson?
Watching them head to head. Oh, they're great, absolutely great, phenomenal.
We're not taking that away. Let's go to the playoffs.
What happens to Lamar Jackson? Here, he's playing eight playoff games,
he's throwing for seventeen hundred yard. You look at Josh Allen,
(06:05):
He's only played in five. He's throwed for thirty four hundred.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
What happened. Now you look at them too, tds.
Speaker 8 (06:11):
Josh Allen is thrown for twenty five tds with four
picks in the playoffs. What happened to Lamar Jackson? Ten
touchdowns to seven interceptions?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
What happened?
Speaker 8 (06:20):
You want to bring up stats to talk about some
stats year and so when we continue to talk about
this that you start to say, okay, who were their coach? Statistically?
Jim Harball stats are insane. So now when you're pairing
the two, give them a second year? Come on, who
else you know? Gordon plays first year?
Speaker 3 (06:37):
And by the way, Justin Herbert was banged up. Remember
he got hurt before the season started, to deal with
a foot injury. So there's something here. What does the
evidence tell you? And I know you can point to
Justin Herbert in some of these losses in the postseason.
I understand that, But the question was how do you
get over the hump against Patrick Mahomes and company? The
reality is we have we saw and look, I'm with you, Toronto.
I think the Baltimore Ravens are the team to be
(06:58):
in the AFC, but they had a home AFC championship
game two years ago and couldn't close out against Patrick
and we saw that team get to the postseason. So
these these guys haven't had a ton of postseasons sex
against Mahomes and company. So maybe we point to a
team that is seeing them consistently inside that division.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Sleeper.
Speaker 6 (07:17):
Yeah, that's why we got to go with the charge.
And I love Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
I think if it's going to happen with Lamar, it
needs to be this year.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
This year.
Speaker 8 (07:22):
I mean it needs to be this year because you
got Derek Henry still running up. I mean that the
whole entire defense, Lamar is still everybody stays healthy over there.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
This is their year.
Speaker 8 (07:31):
Josh Allen's gonna be consistent. But the sleeper, seriously is
the charge?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
All Right?
Speaker 3 (07:34):
If you're going to go sleeper an up and coming team,
then that also means that windows are are going like
this for a couple of those star players and Josh
Allen are.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
About to get paid.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
So yeah, there's gonna be some people to have to
be some uh some what do you call it?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Trim the fed?
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Okay, so do we do say, like I don't want
to say this season or bust because I hate that
type of question. But the reality is if the window
is closing, does it is there a sense of desperation
to make sure that this is your year.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
I believe that the Baltimore Ravens have a sense of urgency.
She wouldn't say desperation. I would say there's a sense
of urgency because just like we've seen which just happened
to San Francisco right their whole team just got got
in terms of guys that were impact players that had
to leave the roster because you had to pay the QB.
Lamar Jackson has a contract right now, but we know
what's about to happen with Lamar's contract. Lamar was right
(08:21):
there and could have been a three time MVP. He
has a ton of leverage. If he goes out there
and does what we expect him to do this year,
he's gonna get the bag. Matter of fact, I don't
think they get They can allow him to touch the
field without him getting the bag. So I think that
once that happens, somebody's there's gonna be good to collateral damage.
So you talk about your ability to have the greatest impact,
(08:41):
your chances of having the best team, this is gonna
probably be the best team that Baltimore can put on
the field for some time to come.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Is it we we're not talking about Joe Burrow. We're
not talking about CJ.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Stratamy two years ago as good of a season we've
seen as a rookie. And we just talked to one
of his teammates, Darryl Taylor. Like that team seems like
they could potentially make a round.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
I like those two more than the Chargest no offense,
I'm not taking charge. I like Houston more than Detrolia.
I like Cincinnati more than the Chargers. Pick with Cincinnati,
their their defense and Trey Henderson, they get him signed
and well paid, well paid. That defense is different, it's
a different dynamic. But they're playing those games. They start
(09:19):
getting into training camp, no deal done. If their defense
doesn't have that man on the edge, they're not in
the race, they're not in the picture. I don't really
care what they can do offensively in the playoffs. You
gotta be able to stop somebody physical football, bully football.
Speaker 8 (09:32):
You know, how did the Philadelphia Eagles talking about de
throwing it right, but that's AFC.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
How did they beat Patty Mahoons? They fell us big
fellas being physical?
Speaker 8 (09:42):
Who did Chargers offensive line right with bully ball. The
way that Jim Harball wants to play in an efficiency
behind a Justin Herbert is the recipe. I mean, you
got to put together a full course mill if you
want to beat them.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Now, Lamar Jackson, josh Alla.
Speaker 8 (09:56):
I think they put together a good state you know
what I mean, a good flameme on. But we're talking
about we need to dessert. You need to come clean
the crew up.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
All that.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
I one percent agree with you, and I felt that
Philly was going to do that to Kansas City just
because of who they had. But when we start talking
about you know some of the top teams of AFC.
Once you go Kansas City, once you go the Bills,
once you go the Ravens. For me, the number four
is Houston because you started talking about the bully ball.
Look what Houston's done with their offensive line. Look what
Houston's done with their d line. We just got off
the call with them, right Their defense is absolutely disgusting.
(10:26):
You start talking about protecting CJ. Stroud and now he
has all his weapons back on the field. Matter of fact,
they doubled down and added more weapons for him to
distribute the ball out to. Who do they have in
the backfield two headed monster that's nasty, got mixing and chubbs.
So you start talking about being able to play bully
ball and take the ball away.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
H Town is a team you better have your eye
off for.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
So then put them head to head. You got you
got Houston and you got you got.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
The charges ro Houston has a better say so then
we have to better. I don't know about that. I
think they're very similar to I think they're very similar.
Though very similar though, but the edge goes to the quarterback.
Who are you taking as your quarterback? Kit? Would you
rather have ce J Stroud in this shrap? But would
you rather have Justin Herbert? That's a hard conversation.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Caesar Shroud proved to win in the playoffs first year?
Speaker 8 (11:08):
Oh did the team? Because you talk about the team
in the coach'ston.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
Herbert was up twenty four points. Houston has enough playoff
team against Jacksonville.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
Yeah, yeah, I got me one.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
That was that was a collapse, but that also led
to the harball to get to harball, right like that?
Speaker 2 (11:23):
That those issues.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
That's why with about horrorball. I know that happened without
them our ball. I ain't passing the ball to nobody.
It was twenty four points. Get the job.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
But even before I think you can start having a
conversation about the Chargers, right, I talked about the top
four teams, Houston being my number four, my number five.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
It has to be uh, it has to be Denver.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I was just about to bring that they were a
playoff squad a season ago.
Speaker 6 (11:44):
Were just afraid of the sophomore sloan.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
We did see it a little bit with Stroud.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Dolphins.
Speaker 7 (11:49):
Guys don't forget the Dolph gut Gott running look, and.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
I know you're not going to throw shade at that squad,
but they go as far as tu it goes right,
and like there's some issues that we have seen where
I think all of us see some of the hits
that he's taken and we go, oh my god, please,
I don't I don't want to see you in the
long term if he's not out there, like there's a
real dropping production.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
Yeah, no, absolutely, absolutely. The Dolphins go as far as
to it takes them, for sure. But as we talk
about the numbers, we get into the analytics, it's not
many differences between Justin Herbert and Tua as far as
their production as a passer. They haven't had the production
in the postseason, neither one of them. So we can't
elevate Justin Herbert and what he's done statistically.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
In the regular season and not give to it the
same grace.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
And Tua has far more dangerous weapons. That's it's not
a conversation to.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Justin Herbert as what was going on.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
But you put when you put those two, when you
put those two passers on the field with their weapons,
I am much more afraid of the Miami Dolphins than
I am of the Chargers. I'm talking about take the running.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Game out of it. I'm talking about how you gonna
take the game.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
How you gonna take the running game out of it?
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Don't tell aout running game out of it.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
Don't take it.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
The running game is a bigger part what opens up.
Take the running game. The top two people that Herberts
throwing the ball to. You gotta think you talk about it.
He's coming up coming. I do have to think about it.
Speaker 8 (13:07):
But the point is that regardless of that, it's the
same thing with Josh Allen. You had to think about it.
You had to think about who's his top catchers, because
it's him he is that good. He's established. These records
are just do not happen. I can't make this stuff
up again. Look, I get things from the internet.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
What's that old adage, right, like your best skill is availability.
I know there's a I am missing, but we see
Justin Herbert out on the football field.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Not always the case.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I think there's an argument to be made about some
of the pieces that Miami has compared to the Chargers.
But that is new school football, you know, because you
played there versus old school football.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
And if we do see that matchup clash in a.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Posseason, I'd love to see.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
That would be a tremendous.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Now, we started this conversation with kind of like a
two horse race here with Lamar and Josh Allen, and
we said, hey, maybe that windows drinking just a little bit.
Who gets that Super Bowl first?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Between who Lamar and Josh?
Speaker 5 (13:57):
I think Josh gets it. Wow, I really like I'm
a big Lamar fan. There's just something about the Ravens
that's just been missing, and you can't put your finger
on it. And I don't think Baltimore could put their
finger on it either. They're trying to figure it out also, right,
which is why they're stacking the roster and they're trying
to put.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
As much talent as they can.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
But something is missing and you don't feel the momentum
of their team gradually building every single year. Regular season, yes,
but in the playoffs, you get to the playoffs and
you just have that. You got that queasy feeling about Baltimore, Right,
you're not fully confident. The same argument with Buffalo. Buffalo argument,
but I went back into history Buffalo again. Wild Card
Division AFC Championship. They're growing towards towards the Super Bowl, right,
(14:38):
So they're migrating up along with their quarterback. Right, Josh
Allen was close to the MVP racing now he won
the MVP right at the same time that this team
got to the last game, probably before going to the
super Bowl. So they have the momentum on their side.
With the Baltimore, we keep going back and saying, well,
their rosters don't Yeah, that's all we can lean on
right now.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (14:59):
Well, I mean, but I think though Lamar Jackson, if
I had to put my money on it happening this year,
it would be his best chances this year. I really
do think that we've already alluded to the contract. Things
are going to change. I don't think you could keep
Mark Andrews and likely the next year. Like, there's a
lot of things that have to change. So if it's
going to be Lamar's turn has got to be this year.
(15:20):
Josh Allen though, I mean, I think he's going to
be consistent. He's done more with less.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
I like him.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
I like both do too, Yes, but in the clutch,
like who do you have to lean on? Right, it's
a combination of a little bit of history. But who
you trust?
Speaker 6 (15:35):
And that's a tough one.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I'm going Lamar. I'm going Lamar.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
Forty one touchdowns, four interceptions and saying, yeah, you know
what I mean. That's efficiency, that's protection of the ball.
Turnover is the number one stat in the NFL. If
somebody's protecting the ball, I'm going with that guy. I
trust that guy.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Well, if you if you look at the rosters, right,
and it does come down to a trust issue, the
better team on paper is Baltimore, right, I mean, just
based off of the offseason acquisitions, the draft was absolutely
tremendous for him and the pieces that they already have
in place.
Speaker 8 (16:04):
Yeah, I just never seen a piece of paper, win
a ring. So you know what I mean, Like we
can talk about papers all day. I know how that goes.
That the boy you gotta get out there and play,
and you know consistently Josh Allen's been that guy.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Money. The Eagles defense has been terrific. We've been domaining
all year.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
You mentioned Quinnyon, you mentioned Coop.
Speaker 6 (16:43):
It's Kayleb Carter can't block.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
Him, suck one first tea ball through interset the sleep.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Looking fees, gotta cool hot, no long jump within.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
These guys dunts out of a pun. Eagle common praised
be the snow Beau wasn't born to go mean.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
These young players in Philadelphia, they've been incredible.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Job like Jay.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Cutter, James Eagles fans Saybridge and we.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Joined what even now?
Speaker 5 (17:24):
I think it's better if you.
Speaker 9 (17:26):
Get what an amazing year for you, Knowling and your Eagles.
I need you to take us there because we watched along.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I was at a couple of.
Speaker 9 (17:37):
The games last year. But for you, what was that
season like? To go through that and then winning Super
Bowl fifty nine?
Speaker 10 (17:43):
Man, I'll say the ebbs and flows of the season,
the ups and downs when when we started two and
two and it brought us closer together when we lost.
When we lost by the little things, you know, when
they talk about the little things, if we would have
did this year, we would have did that there. That
just brought us closer together. And then the team's success. Man,
when we started rolling and guys start to believing and
(18:05):
jelling and stuff like that. And you know, we see
in all the clips when offensive players making players, you
see the whole defensive sideline just erupts and goes up,
and you know, and the same thing for us, when
we make a play on defense, the whole offensive erupts
and it's just, man, just that connection piece to jeling together. Man,
it was fun and I just I want to pick
up where we left off. I'm not talking about wins.
(18:27):
I'm not talking about none of that stuff. I'm talking
about the connection piece to communication. Like if lane blocking
someone the whole game and he locked him up, I'm
coming when he comes to the side, like keep.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Doing it, keep doing it.
Speaker 10 (18:37):
Like look, just that just that on and off the
field stuff that you know, the little things that you
don't see on camera. So I can't wait for that
part of the game. You see that puts a bigger
smile on my face.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
My guys, I was.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
With the defensive quarter, the big Fangio down in Miami
four season. I have a ton of respect for him.
He's a brilliant defensive mind. You guys, you and the
and the defense were a huge part of the success
y'all had in the regular season and especially in the playoffs.
What really click for you guys on the defensive side
of the.
Speaker 10 (19:06):
Ball, man, I'll say, just like you said, man, Coach Vangiel.
Coach Vangiel, coach is one of the best, and we'll
all be on the same page and we'll all see
it through the same lens. And he's one of those
one of those coaches that if y'all all saw it
like that, then y'all play football.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
And you can't ask.
Speaker 10 (19:23):
For anything more and all he the only thing he
asks for us is effort and hard work.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
And in the lead, you know we're going to bring
that every day.
Speaker 10 (19:31):
So when you ask for effort and hard work and
he putting us in the right spots, it's so hard
not to, you know, just be great, just go out there,
and he tell us to be yourself. And I love
Coach Vangiel when he tells me that just be yourself,
and Nolan just played football.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Just be a good football player. You don't have to
do this, you don't have to do that, just play football.
Love it all, right, man.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
You guys just came back to Mini camp, right and
but this time you guys came back at Super Bowl Champs,
right and so. But coach Nick Sirianni had this to
say about turning the page.
Speaker 11 (20:00):
So first, I want to say, the celebration is over. Okay,
the celebration is over. Preparation is here. Celebration is over.
Preparation is here. As we continue through here. Last year,
as we went, as we came into the twenty twenty
four season, there was a lot that we talked about
of handling adversity.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Now it's a little different.
Speaker 11 (20:21):
You got to handle success, right, It's a different it's
a different animal.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Right.
Speaker 11 (20:25):
You got to handle success everyone right now, right for
the guys that have been here are telling you how
good you are. Treat praise like perfume. Sniff it, don't
drink it. It's poison.
Speaker 9 (20:39):
Oh good advice for life.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Well side aside, real quick, hold on, I gotta turn
up no seriously, A coach Sirianni. Obviously we see a
lot of him forward facing, but help us understand who
is he as a coach?
Speaker 6 (20:53):
Right?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
And then what is it like with him day in
and day out? Like how is it to happen as
a head coach?
Speaker 10 (20:57):
Man coach Sirianni is Really he's the energy guy.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
I say.
Speaker 10 (21:01):
He brings a lot of energy to the met is
and he gives a clear cut mess to the team
and what we need to hear for the week. And
I'll say that message when he walked in that set
the town for the whole OTAs for gods to be like, Okay,
like that's last year, just like I told you when
we sat down, that's last year. Let's see what we
can do this year and let's turn the page. And
just like you said, man, success is like perfume. You're
(21:24):
gonna sniffet. Everyone's going to talk about how when you
do good and stuff like that, but you know you can't,
you can't drink it. You gotta take a little bit
at a time and just keep moving. Like we got
to turn the page eventually at some point, just because
last year's this year and.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Everybody's hunting for us. So I love it.
Speaker 10 (21:40):
I love the challenge. What, as we say at Georgia,
We're never going to be the hunted. We're always going
to be the hunters.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
So what is one thing that most people on the
outside don't know about Coach Sirianni.
Speaker 10 (21:52):
Oh man, he loves to play basketball. He loves well,
he's a real hooper.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
He has a nice shot.
Speaker 10 (21:59):
Coach Sirianni, I'm giving you your flowers, right, you do
got a nice shot.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
It is. I never told you that to his face,
but he do.
Speaker 10 (22:06):
Got a nice shot. And on my Top thirty visit,
we shot back and forth. We played pig, that's what
we did. And I say, man, he got a nice shot.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
For real, he said in one though you didn't say
who won? Oh and come on now, I'm a real competitor.
Speaker 10 (22:19):
I'm a real competitor, man, I compete at everything.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
So yeah, I want break.
Speaker 10 (22:25):
Oh yeah, just so nice little follow Mama was a
basketball player. Like I told him backstage, I ain't got
nothing but ten points for you and five good files.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Ten points and five good files. That's about it. The
game lift it up there, amazing, all right.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
We want to play a little game that we're calling
bird is the word I can't sing the song. Can
we do have the rights to it?
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I wish I did.
Speaker 9 (22:50):
Let me just play it safe, but y'all know what
I'm talking about. Watch family guy, No, and we have
a few questions for you, and we'll use your whiteboard
to come up with one word to describe it. So quick, hitters,
let us know, and let's start with one.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Of your teammates.
Speaker 9 (23:07):
This was a pretty iconic moment because Cooper signed the
Patrick Mahomes card, Go Birds.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
What's one word.
Speaker 9 (23:14):
That you'd use to describe Cooper and his game?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Man, not him signing.
Speaker 10 (23:20):
I would say the sign Cooper in his game electric, electrifying.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Oh oh, listen, I had my other word written for
my other one.
Speaker 9 (23:29):
Oh okay, well we'll start verbalizeder.
Speaker 10 (23:32):
Yeah, we'll start. We'll start verbal I'll say electric. And
he has a lot of juice, you know. Man, playing
in the slot is kind of tough, and he's he's
going against really good talent, really fast guys, and he's
always had his feet calmed and settled and he's always
in the right position at the right time. So man,
he's one of those guys that you know you can
count on in the back end and like I said,
(23:53):
he makes my job easier. I was just on a
podcast talking to him. We call it the marriage of
the Defense. You know, you don't see it, but it's
one of the greatest marriages ever. How to back in
in the front end. Work together. Man, it comes when
it comes together, it's beautiful.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
That's love. I love.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
I love the passion. Man.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
But there's one play that happened this year that everybody
was talking about. Man, is the Saquon Barkley reverse herd
old backfoot whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
To call it.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
What is the word that you would say applies to
this move right here?
Speaker 10 (24:28):
Yeah, see, I already written this down. This is the
one that I was ready for. I was flabbergasted when
I say, when I say, overly shocked, mouth on the floor,
look at that, I say, Okay, he broke one. Then
he spun and then jumped over another person.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
The whole sideline went crazy. You I've never seen anything
like that.
Speaker 10 (24:50):
And you know, that's one of the guys in the
locker room that we look up to, that is one
of our leaders.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
And that's when earlier, you know, it.
Speaker 10 (24:57):
Got it got a little territorial because that's my guy,
and you know, in the trenches. We got to protect
each other.
Speaker 9 (25:03):
We were just talking about bodies.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
He was like, absolutely not there.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Oh my god, it.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Was a compliment.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
I too can.
Speaker 9 (25:17):
I'm curd you know, but flabbergasted for sure. Because it's
the spin before the back of hurdle.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
The set up, the set up till to to the
R two to the spine?
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Are we talking about to jump?
Speaker 7 (25:30):
Who thinks about the while spinning with the back turn?
Speaker 10 (25:34):
I I still don't know how they're gonna put it
in the man, But when they do, you got to
press a lot of buttons.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Now that that's not.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
A easy like as the whole control.
Speaker 10 (25:45):
Yeah, you gotta go from R two circle to aid
the jump and all of that.
Speaker 9 (25:50):
So you're gonna got a cramp carpal tunnel and your
hands just sitting there doing that.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
Let's talk to your quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
He posted yesterday about his new children's book, What's What's
one word that describes Jailen Hurts?
Speaker 4 (26:05):
By the way, that's pretty dope that he has a children.
Speaker 9 (26:07):
I'm gonna go for my niece, the one, ooh.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
The one.
Speaker 10 (26:10):
I'll say he's the one just like his jersey. But man,
he's the leader of men, you know, in the matrix.
He's on his own timing and stuff like that, and
he's cool and calm and collective, just like I want
my quarterback to be.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
I don't want my.
Speaker 10 (26:23):
Quarterback to be too juiced up to he's I think
he's perfect. And then when it's time for him to speak,
maybe before.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
The games, man, he get me going and he.
Speaker 10 (26:32):
Gives the message to every different game. It's not the
same message, especially I say, the messages on the road,
different places that we play. It all plays together, and
he just gets us going and leads us in the
right direction. You know, certain people can push you in
the wrong direction, but he's leading us always in the
right direction. And he's selfless, and you can't ask from
anything more than your quarterback to be selfless. He's a
(26:55):
selfless player. He's a selfless guy, and he just wants
to help and lead.
Speaker 9 (27:00):
I feel like all of that tracks like they're every
word that you're saying. I wouldn't question any of it,
and we're not there in it with him every single day,
but we just see the way that he moves and
the way that he operates, both on and off the field.
So We love to hear your direct perspective.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
On Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 9 (27:16):
He is he is the one or the one one
more though, and this one it's not spicy. Because I'm
right here with you, I feel like I'm gonna have
the same message. What would you say to the teams
that tried to ban the tush push? Why don't you
like fun things?
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Oh? I would say.
Speaker 10 (27:32):
I would say this, people are upset because we got
good at something and they couldn't stop it.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
That's that's the truth.
Speaker 10 (27:39):
You can't ban something that like the like let's say
they went out and ran ISO when yeah, yeah, a
little bit more than one word, is that?
Speaker 4 (27:47):
What would do?
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (27:49):
If they go out and run ISO a thousand times
and ALT gets ten thousand yards, y'all going to ban
the ISO play run no eventually stop it? And I
know that in practice, we talked about it. I think
several defenses have good tactics. I'm not going to say
who so they go back and look it up. Some
defense had good tactics. But at the end of the day, man,
(28:11):
it's really about those guys up front in the middle
and the determination to push one side or the other.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
So that's really about it.
Speaker 10 (28:18):
But it's a good it's a good football play, and
it's in the game for a reason. Don't try to
ban a play because just because we're good at it.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
How hard is it to execute? Actual it's very hard
to execute. It's very hard to think thousands of pounds.
Speaker 10 (28:32):
And every so that's the that's the key thing about it.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Everybody know we're going.
Speaker 10 (28:36):
To do it, and you can't stop it. I think
that's one of the hardest things. And a lot of
people go about a certain different way.
Speaker 6 (28:44):
You know.
Speaker 10 (28:44):
They try to jump over. Well one's too strong, he
gonna put you on your back and carry you. They
try to submarine our lineman. Well one gonna jump over
because he do squat five hundred. So I'll say it's on.
It's the quarterback and center exchange. And it's a lot
that goes into it that people don't see.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
It is not an easy play to run at all.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Good money, Oh yeah, it's the offseason.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
That means that you're getting.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
Another list from yours truly, but this time around, we're
talking about the fellas who do the dirty work. The
boys we have to put their hand in the ground,
block the big fellas and then they're gonna go out
there and show a little and get the hands dirty
and get the yak yardage with their with their fingertips.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
They're talking about the tight ends.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
Hey, the guys that I considered to be one of
the most underrated, undervalue players on the field. We're gonna
get into a top five list. Your favorite might not
be on this list. Don't come at me, come with me.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
They're gonna be coming at They're gonna be that'serfectly fine.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Number five on my lists.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
We're gonna go to a dude who just might bite
off your kneecap from his head.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Coach, and name is Sam Laporta.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
This dude is it's a complete dog. He's been in
the league for two years. Sixteen hundred yards seventeen let
me run that back. Seventeen touchdowns in two years as
a tight end. He is in the perfect offense that
allows for him to do the dirty work at the
line of scrimmage by getting the running game going, and
then he can go out there and route up linebackers,
safeties and nickelbacks. Sam Laporter comes in at my number
(30:26):
five on the best tight ends in the current league. Now,
this is where everybody's gonna come at me, don't come
at me. This dude all he does is collect rings.
You might as well call him sonic. But Travis Kelce
is number four on my list. We know that this
dude has been a dog for a long time. Over
twelve years, this dude has over one thousand yards or a
(30:47):
thousand receptions. This dude has over twelve thousand yards. He
is considered to be one of the most respectable, most
consistent tight.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
Ends in the league.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Last year, we know it was a down year for him,
but don't count him out. And this dude knows how
to get in the end zone. Seventy seven touchdowns on
his career. I think he's going to have a nice
little resurgence this year. Now, you're probably gonna be crazy.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
How to heck this? Travis Kelsey not get into the
top three. Well, he doesn't get into the top three
because there's a young bucks that are.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
On this list, and the young buck that I want
to talk about next he just might be an Olympics.
His name is Trey McBride. This dude would jump and
hurdle over anybody. He is somebody who wants the smoke.
You better bring more people, because this dude is gonna
run through the first guy you see him on there. Nope,
not big enough, you need more. He's gonna go out there. Yep,
hurtle over. You give me all that like reach mound. Okay,
(31:33):
two hundred and twenty one undred and twenty one receptions,
all right. He has over eleven hundred yards last year alone,
one hundred and eleven receptions. This dude catches the rock.
No matter who you want to put on him, he
can match up well against them, and he's not going
to go down easy.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
He is a set.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
He has a nice little safety blanket out there for
Kyler Murray and he's gonna continue to do great things
in this league. He's only played three years now. The
next capt that I got, this dude came up on
the scene and he is your number one fantasy receiver, slash.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Tight end, whatever you want to call him.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
He is brock Bowers did the work in Georgia down
there with the Bulldogs, and now he's on the scene
with the Raiders. He has a new quarterback and he
is going to continue to do work. He's somebody that
you have to be feared, fearful up. He's somebody that
can rout you up, just like you see on the screen.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
He's shifty, he's shaky.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
He's physical, he has hands like a receiver, and he's
somebody who has a knack.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
For the end zone.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
You see it right there on your screen that half
the team is trying to bring him down and it's
still not enough.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
I'm looking forward to continue to see this dude's career.
He's just getting going now.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
Number one, when I consider to be the man who
does it all, the man with the plan, George Chittle
put a WWE belt around his waist.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
He loves the game.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
He has the energy, he has tenacity. Looked at him.
He's nothing but a ball of energy. He will route
you up. He gets dirty in the running game. It
doesn't matter if you're a defensive lineman, it doesn't matter
if you're in safety.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
You have to put respect on this man's name.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
He impacts the game whenever he's on the field, and
he makes.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
And obviously he's going out there. You trying to chase
some more rings. Rock Purty.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
That's your best going forward, and if you are aligneman,
you better buckle up your chance.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
Draft.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
But he's gonna try to put you in the mud.
That is what I got for m on the top five.
I know I have a table full of cats that
have something that can contribute to this.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
What do y'all think about the list?
Speaker 12 (33:17):
You know, surprisingly, that's a great that's a great list.
These are all guys, if you think about it, that
can line up by themselves and be mismatches.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
You know.
Speaker 12 (33:25):
Sometimes you know offenses they'll just put a tight end.
You know, they'll put all the receivers on one side,
tight end none the other. You're not worried about the
tight end. But all these guys that you just listen,
that is the primary That is a quarterback's favorite quarterback
safety blanket.
Speaker 13 (33:38):
Like you talked about, so great list. Honestly, what you got,
what you think? I think the list pretty solid. Only
thing I'm sitting here debating is the number five. I
kind of feel based on last year his production, that
Janus Smith could have pushed that you know, set in
that tight end record for the Dolphins last year and
what he did in Atlanta and like this explosively and
(33:58):
I feel like he's a running back at tight end, yeah,
you know, and he's like a cannon ball. So I
kind of feel like that that part of it, it
was in there. Yeah, But besides that, I think everything
is pretty solid. Definitely on trade McBride. You know, I've
been around him. He's definitely a dog. Definitely him and Kelsey.
You know, I still think Kelsey's you know, him and
Kittle one and two. But definitely agree with the list the.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Big fellows up front.
Speaker 14 (34:21):
What you think, Hey, I'm with you. I want to
disagree with you, but you hoop him right now. And
it's one thing I want to touch on too, is
how George Kittle is number one and I think he's
going to continue to because he has a number one
spot for me, He's going to continue to be that
number one tight end because of how dirty he gets
in the run game.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
A lot of tight ends, you know.
Speaker 14 (34:41):
He's basically like an extra offensive lineman that's out there
running routes and blocking, and he makes an impact in
the run game too as if he was offensive lineman.
So I think he's always going to be at that
number one spot. And I think you touched on a
great point too, and you said getting dirty in the
run game is offensive lineman.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
We love that.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
So I actually don't think many people are going to
have a problem with you. I know your name checked
it with Kelsey. It's not a lifetime Achievement award. It
was entering this upcoming season. I think the Kings would
be different if it was their entire career. You probably
wouldn't have some of these young bucks there. Josen brings
up Johnny Smith, I Kate Otten, you and I were
talking about him.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
There's some Mark Andrews likely on that team.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
There's some guys that are definitely honorable mention. But these guys,
to me, are either being so consistent for so long, right,
or these guys with some young bucks, a lot of
young talent, that tight end that's coming up on the scene,
and they're making it hard for some of these older
guys to kind of stick around.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Yeah, Bill's Mafia sitting there going you're not mentioning our dudes.
So just to throw that out there, there's some really
good options. Trey McBride, though probably doesn't get enough love
for what he is.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Able to do on the field.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Anytime you watch this dude on the sideline just kind
of working in great hands for him and Brock Bauers,
you make an argument he could be number one. This
season has gone on,
