Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Let's roll it as a brand new edition of Good
Morning Football. It's Thursday, June twenty six. We got, as
you could see, a pack table, Mike am here in
Los Angeles, my guy Isaiah stand backrading Rocket Roll, Saints
offensive lineman Teaser Ruis. We got a free agent wide
receiver and chosen Anderson along with Rams defensive back and
put those two guys together for a reason. Quentin Lake,
we're breaking down a crowded NFC West and Isaiah, I
(00:30):
feel like you're gonna do what.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
You do, which you stir the pot.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Oh, you guys know I like to stir the pot. Man.
It wouldn't be an off season without another top five lists.
We're gonna talk about tight ends. Which one of your
tight ends did not make the list. Somebody gonna get
their feelings hurt. But GMFB on a Thursday, let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Welcome inside of our NFL network studios. You know, I
feel like we have a responsibility on this show to
entertain and also educate. But that education is not just
football for fans. Sometimes some of the elder statesmen need
to drop some knowledge on some of our younger casting
characters here. I just want to let everyone know movie
of conversations that were happening before the show. Do you
(01:24):
want to make sure that everyone's on the same page.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Listen, listen, so we're having a conversation. Everybody has a
pregame ritual, right, Everybody has the music that they listen to.
Some people like to turn up, some people like listen
to classical music and calm down, right, But myself, right,
I listened to a mix between gospel and a little
bit of rap, a little bit of rap. But fellas
what you would you guys got going on your playlist
pre game? Yeah? Pre game?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Yeah, I got a core Philly artists listen fifty okay,
oh some Kendrick. You know I was mixed it all. Yeah,
you all in thee What you got?
Speaker 5 (01:54):
I need something that's going to give me hype before
the game.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
To be honest, I go with Gunna Love Gunna like Future.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
You know, he gets me in the right mindset before
the game, especially, I'm trying to hit somebody, get somebody
to the ground, and then you know, a sleeper pick
for me is playbow CARDI he really gets me right,
you know, I feel like I can go out there,
fly around, have fun.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, endove my time out.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
Okay, but you got your Now, I listened to a
lot of gospel, but we so got a rout with
with dout.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
You have to tech kodak Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Right, you're not getting out of this, yem. Well you
look the ultimate Eminem lose yourself has got it.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
That's that's on the short list. Now, that's you know.
But I'm also like early two thousand, let me see.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You walking around with a hoodie do let me let
me find out.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
I used to do that Roman the Bronx at Fordham.
So we used to just trying to get out of
trouble here. And I know you were dropping some gospel.
Now you got a little bit in there, kick things up.
But Quintin is here today, so it is time for
lead block and I point you out and I single
you out because well, look, your team had some success
a season ago. Last time we saw Matthew Stafford on
(02:54):
the field, thought nearly took out the eventual Super Bowl
champs Eagles on the road. I know it's still seared
into your brain. Regular season Stafford through for nearly thirty
eight hundred year twenty touchdowns, just eight picks as they
got to the NFC West.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Division Championship matchup.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
So I think the obvious question, and maybe I'll just
set this up for you because you're gonna say it's
the super Bowl here, but for the rest of us,
we need to dissect where your squad is in this NFC.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
So make a compelling case. What you guys are leaders
of the pack?
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Well, you look at the new editions that we got
over the offseason. Davonte, Adams, poona Ford, Nate Labman. These
are all guys and pivotal guys that came into our
organization that are going to make a direct impact. I
think the biggest question really is how is Devonte gonna
kind of mix and mingle with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
And you take a look about the high powered offense.
Speaker 8 (03:46):
That we have.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Now you take a look at, you know, how Sean
McVay has been successful over the course of his career.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
In Matthew Stafford of his tenure, I think we have
a fantastic shot at being the you know, talking contender
in the NFC.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
And you know, I'm very very excited to see what
these guys.
Speaker 8 (04:01):
Are going to do.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I expect, you know, nothing less than thirty points. Again.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Now, I think the Rams are really talented young team.
I think a lot of people overlooked that last year
they played really well. They had a lot of good players,
and especially I look at their defense because you know,
we go against a defense so much. They got a
lot of young talent on the defensive line. But it's
two rookies that are you know, playing great ball. And
then you got you know a lot of other young
(04:24):
guys in the defense too. And I think once you
start building their youth and yeah, you know, the young
guys are starting to produce and look really good.
Speaker 8 (04:31):
I mean, you got to you got a good shot.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
Yeah, I think the Rams got got a great team.
Really adding DeVante Chase things to a whole other level.
And I don't see like any drop off from him
the Cooper Cup, and I think what they built last year,
you know, they weren't too far. Mean that game with
the Eagles came down to the wire, so you know
that they're that close, and you know they have to
(04:53):
win the formula They've done, They've been there before him.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
They knows what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, from the receiver standpoint, all right, you've been around
the league for a minute. Here had a great impact
at the receiver position. How much of an impact do
you foresee thembout they Addam having with under Rams, especially
playing across from cooking the.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
Court, It's gonna be it's gonna be a beautiful sight
to see, especially him in that system with on the offense,
the creativity and him pairing up with Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
That's gonna be nice to see.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
You still look at the squad, is the team listen,
as long as the coach mcvay's the head coach. I
always look at this team as a strong, strong outfit.
You know, obviously they're in the NFC WES. There's that
whole division's a little convoluted right now, right you really
don't know who is who. San Francisco, you know, had
a lot of injuries. Seattle new coach trying to enter
that regime. You know, Arizona's still trying to find their
way and creating an identity. But the Rams, you always know,
(05:41):
are gonna be tried and true. You know, all they
do is continue to add pieces that are going to
be impactful. Obviously, Cooper Cup leaves the bart to Adams
comes in. We're all excited about what that offense is
going to look like. And then that defensive line with
versus and everybody that that whole thing is nasty. That's
the one element that they have always had, but it
used to be coming from the inside with Aaron Donald.
Now they have it coming from the outside. So if
(06:02):
they can go out there and get the ball back
in the hands of the offense, put some points up
with that head coach. Yeah, you got to be on alert.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Well you're talking about this offense and I know you
made reference to it and Chosen actually brought it up.
But Quentin in the reality is, you know, it's not
necessarily sometimes about the ex's and no's, it's the Jimmy's
and Joe's. In the last couple of years, Cooper Cup
has been in a lot of ways, and I know
there's a transition to Pooka, but it's been kind of
the face of this franchise here. How does a move
away from a receiver like that impact inside that locker room.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
It was tough when Cooper Cup, when we first heard
the news that Cooper Cup wasn't going to come back.
It was more so him the locker room atmosphere. He's
a great father, a great man, a great teammate. He's
always going to put his guys around him first, very
selfless player. And when you lose a guy like that,
you kind of wonder what what are you going to
do to fill the void? Are you going to kind
of go get somebody that kind of has that leadership role.
(06:49):
Are you going to get somebody that you know has
the same effect. And what I saw when we did
get a guy like Davontae Adams is you get a
guy that's workforced.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
He's work first, He's.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Gonna go out there you know what you're going to
get every day, and going against him, I'm not gonna
lie it was it was tough. There are some days
where it's like, man, you understand why he's been at
the top of his game year in and year out.
So I think the Rams, especially the front office, they
did do a good job of addressing the issue when
Cooper Cup left. But that is not to say that
Cooper Cup is a fantastic player. He's a fantastic human being.
(07:24):
I wish him the best in Seattle, but that's not
to say that, Hey, Davante is going to be a great,
great addition for us, A great locker room guy, obviously
a great family man too, So I'm excited to see
what he does this year.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Now, Caesar, do you guys.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Perk up like when there are some changes inside of
a locker room? And obviously your team has had to
deal with a lot of that.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Yeah, it depends, you know, it all depends on who
who's getting traded or who's moving around. I personally like
to see it, you know, I like to see things
change up, you know, especially you know, being especially playing
certain divisions. I get tired of seeing the same guys
over and over and over against So you see some changes,
it's uh, it's funny.
Speaker 8 (07:59):
It shakes things up and makes it interesting.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, we talked about the leadership all the time, some
of the pieces that are there or in place here,
and I know you've made reference to some of those injuries.
I feel like the last couple of years it's been
the Rams and a little bit of back and forth
with Sprinkle in Seattle, but the Niners have been sort
of that team.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
They're healthy. How do those rosters stack up to you?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah, I mean the San Francisco forty nine ers lost
a lot. They lost a lot. Obviously they had they
had they had the breakoff brock party, give him the bag,
and by doing that, they lost what five six key
contributors on a defense side of the ball. So obviously
now they get Robert solid back. So they're going to
have the culture. They're have that that ethos of what
the times passed. But there's gonna be some players that
(08:37):
we don't necessarily talk about all the time that are
going to have to show up and show out for them.
There will be some guys, because there's always guys that
show up. He will develop them, he will get them going.
I mean, I think that they will eventually have a
research it's just a matter of how long will that take?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Chosen for you, when you assess the teams that are
out there inside that that division, is there a team
that sort of pops maybe a little bit more? And
I know you don't have to look at un when
you answer this question, but who is sort of that team.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
And the Gang Bang Bang?
Speaker 8 (09:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (09:05):
I like forty nine ers on.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
I think that you know, knowing Shanahan, knowing his competitive nature,
like the standard you know they coming to win it
all this year, and I think that what happened last year,
they hungry, you know, and I don't see them. I
don't see them, you know, falling short to what their
goals are in my opinion, in that division. But I
(09:29):
think it's gonna come down to them.
Speaker 7 (09:30):
In the rounds.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Well, what they do have a rock party who is
now signed, sealed and delivered for an extended period of time.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
We know Quinton.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
When it comes to your quarterback, Matthew Stafford, I think
I read a quote from you last night talking about
him as a future Hall of Famer, So I will
start with you. You think he gets there, but is
he a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
I no doubt in my mind that he's the first
ballot Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
There is a reason. I'll tell you this.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
The truest measure of performance is consistency, and this is
a guy that's done it year in and year. Obviously
the tenured during his lions, he might not have gotten
to the playoffs or anything like that, but he showed.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
How much of a dog he was.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
And every time we're in the locker room or we're
on the field, we always.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Call him a dog.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
I'm gonna give you a little bit of statistics. He
is number ten on all time passing yards. I'm gonna
give you a couple of names, and you can kind
of guess or kind of figure out if these guys
are first ballot Hall of Famers. Some of them are
already Hall of Famers in the subs, Tom Brady, Drew Brees,
Jack Payne Manning, Jack Brett Farv Oh yeah, Ben Roethlisberger,
(10:31):
Philip Rivers.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
You have Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Dan Marino.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
If you look at that hole list, he would be like, oh,
there are some Hall of Famers there. There are some
guys you know potentially that are still playing. And Matthew
Stafford is number ten on that list. So whenever you're
in the company of other guys like that, you can
kind of meet make an easy assessment to say, you
know what, he's the first easy first ballot Hall of
Famer as well.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Caesar, you've been in company of at least one of
those guys, and Drew Brees you've been around him. Do
you look at Stafford and his accomplishments and say, first
ballot Hall of Famer?
Speaker 6 (11:01):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Yeah, I think I think all the way back to Detroit.
You know that's back when I was I was a
kid watching Matthew Stafford. You know, uh still don't mean
to call him too old or nothing, but yeah, you
look at the compliments, you look at you know what
he's done, and like you touched on consistency, he keeps
doing it every year, every year and every year, and
I think, uh, you know, got a championship, has a
(11:22):
super Bowl, and I don't.
Speaker 8 (11:24):
I don't see why not chosen.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
You've played with a lot of quarterbacks and some talented
ones as well. How do you assess it?
Speaker 6 (11:30):
How many years was it that Matthew Stafford was in
LA and then they went to the Super Bowl?
Speaker 7 (11:34):
Was their first year?
Speaker 6 (11:36):
And was Calvin Calvin Johnson was the first ballot Hall
of Famer. So you can't put the losing in Detroit
on him. That doesn't take away from this. It set
so in my opinion, I believe.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
So, you know, I guess I'm gonna be on my
own island over here and I'm saying no disrespect. You
say whatever you want to have, you say no disrespect.
You know that, right, So no disrespects. I believe that
Matthew Stafford is an amazing player, amazing. I think he's
a great quarterback. I think he's impacted this game. But
when I when I think about first ballot, and I
(12:08):
know this conversation about Hall of Famers and who should
go in first, I think about guys that are just
they impact the game so much. There's such a weapon
that they solely take over every single game that they
that they step on on the field for. They're the
guy that you have to circle and be so concerned
about that he could just single handedly just just destroy you.
(12:29):
I don't perceive Matthew Stafford as that. I perceive Matthew Stafford.
Ask somebody that you trust, that that it's going to
be comfortable and confident that's going to lead his team.
But he's not somebody that I fear. Right, He's not
somebody that I fear. And for that reason, I don't
consider him to be a first ballot. That's not to
say that he hasn't been consistently good throughout his career,
But when I think about first ballot guys, I'm like,
(12:50):
that's the guy, no matter what, no matter who's out there,
he's the guy that I'm like, Yeah, he's on my team.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
No matter what, would you what would take him to
that point to be first ballot.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I think he begains. I think he against another ring.
I think against another ring for sure. And it's not
all about the rings and things. I know everybody talk
about the Lebron conversation right now, but you know, I
played with a lot of great players. I play with
Tom Brady, I play with t o I play with
Randy Moss. And when you hear about those guys, those
were like, okay, that's guys are first or top three
in their position group. I don't consider Matthew Stafford to
(13:18):
be that.
Speaker 8 (13:19):
Now.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
There's been a gazillion great quarterbacks over the years, but
I don't think about Matthew Stafford in that same light.
If you ask a question, is Matthew Stafford or a
first ballot or is Eli Manning a first ballot? I'm
gonna say Matthew Stafford has had better statistics, but I'm
gonna say that Eli Manning got them got them rings right,
so when he gets to the ball, he wins that thing.
So that's how I weigh it. And it's a very
(13:40):
tricky conversation. But I don't perceive him as a first ballot,
but he's definitely a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 7 (13:45):
But everything in his situation wasn't in his control. You're
absolutely correct. Eli I had was in a.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Lot better situation, better defense, better team, you know, better
situation to win. Matthew wasn't in that, and he went
to a situation that was like that was ideal, and
you know he's doing it.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
I agree, I agree. It's definitely a conversation to be had.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
You know, yesterday on the show, we were talking about,
you know, opportunity to go win a Super Bowl. Right,
there's MVPs for Lamar Jackson. We got Josh Allen who's
there as well. And I think you even said, hey,
the situation for Lamar is a better situation you had, Josh.
Actually you thought the Bills were, you know, getting to
a super Bowl. And maybe adding to that resume from
Matthew Stafford will come down to that supporting cast. There's
(14:23):
a good stretch of losses that racked up when he
was in Detroit there. I can't imagine if Matthew was
playing maybe on better, stronger teams earlier in his career,
maybe we're having a different conversation and Quinton's does not
have to pound the table here and going, hey, here's
a first year.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
And you know what, and it comes. And the thing
about the Hall of Fame conversations is it's all opinion, right,
It's all opinion base. Everybody's gonna look at it, perceive
it differently, you know. Like I said, I mentioned I played.
Speaker 8 (14:45):
With t O.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
T O to me is top three, hands down receivers
of all time. But he was a first ballot, right,
So it's not just about yours, it's not just about
the production. Right. People are gonna perceive it differently, right,
So in my eyes, that's a no brainer. He's first ballot.
He wasn't, right, So when you start talking about guys
like Matthew Stafford, do you look at Matthew Stafford in
the same light as a t O Me.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
No, I'll give you the last bite of the apple
here quick.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Because you are one of his teammates, you do think
he is a future first ballot Hall of Famer?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Is there a moment?
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Is there a story that will resonate because we don't
know you said, hey, like we call him a dog
inside the locker room.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
We can reference the stats, and I think the reality.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Is when we have conversations when we haven't played with him,
we're not inside that locker room. That's the thing that
we can point to. Is there something that you would
point to that puts him over the top.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
The biggest thing that I've noticed about Matthew Stafford is
his resiliency. There's two clips that have been played consistently
over time in our team meetings, and that has been
one when.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
He was at Detroit. He threw it was a two
minute drive.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
He was driving down the field, he gets drilled by
a defender, his shoulder pops out, comes down the field,
is able to throw, is able to throw a.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Touchdown pass with his shoulder popped out. So that's one example.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
When we played the Detroit Lions and I saw this firsthand,
I was amazed about how tough he was. He gets
hit by Aiden Hutchinson, and no one really tells you.
You know, sometimes you hear players of stories of them
getting knocked out, but they'll lie a little bit and
say that he was blacked out on the field, gets up,
pops up and starts talking to Aiden Hutchinson right there.
(16:18):
And then I'm like, that is a dog. That is
a guy I can rally behind. That is a guy
I want to be at the leader of my team.
So there are a lot of things. And you guys, know,
you hear stories all the time, guys that you have
been knocked out or guys that are playing through injuries.
But those sometimes aren't things that the media shows or
sometimes the media hears. And I think when you see
(16:38):
those stories or see those things as a player, it just.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Gives you a more appreciation of that player. Those are
trait games, by the way. They feel different, right, completely different.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
The atmosphere when we first played them in the first
playoff game when they got back what was it two
years ago? It was and it was probably the most
anybody to tell you that played in that game, it
was the most incredible environment ever. I mean, you have
fans are right behind your head. So the playoffs are
a different environment in the sells. But then when we
had Detroit, when we went over there to Ford Field,
(17:11):
I enjoyed it. I know, you know, the outcome wasn't
the way we wanted to, but you know it's a
great environment always playing in the playoffs, especially like a
place like that.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, we will continue this conversation, by the way, on
the NFC specifically.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Inside that division. But we do have some breaking news.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Don't always get to say that this early in the day,
but yes, SR Mike Garrafollo is reporting that there's at
least reason to smile here if you are.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
A Tampa Bay Bucks fan.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
The Bucks have agreed to a multi year contract extension
with Todd Bowles and Jason Light.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
How about this.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Bucks have won three straight division titles under Bowls and Light.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
The two have helped take Tampa Bay at this.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Point to the only NFC team to reach the playoffs
in the past five years.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
You know coach pretty well.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
I do. Min When I came in as a rookie
to the Dallas Cowboys back in two thousand and seven,
he was our secondary's coach, so I had an opportunity
to see him early on in his career and to
see him really a sin from you know, the secondary
coach to a decordinator to obviously a head coach down
there in Tampa and see exactly what he's done with
that team, with that organization. And now he has his
quarterback that's really at the helm of things. It's never
(18:12):
been a question. They're concerned about his defense, his ability
for his defensive produced. But now he has this QB
and those guys have been balling out, They've been winning games,
and now Tampa is one of the most respected and
feared teams in the league.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
You see these guys season on a regular basis. Here,
What do you make of this news.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Congratulations to him. I mean it was earned. You know,
they went to the they want a division. I think
it was four straight years, I think was it. I
mean he earned it. So congratulations to him.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
I feel like there's like a little reluctant to talk
about about this having as.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Much I'm always going to give credit with credit due
for sure. You know, you know it's it's it's time
to hate. There's a time and place to hate him,
you know, hate the Bucks. But you know, right now,
congratulations to him. You know grave yah close bow.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
That was my first coach coming into the NFL, So
you congratulations to him for sure. You know, he's a
great man, great coach. I can still pick up the
phone to this day to call him. You know, it
was really there for me more than me as not
just a football player, but as a man. You know,
taught us life off the field, you know, how to
conduct ourselves and you know he's a fair guy. You know,
he's a coach that is off the integrity of you
(19:19):
work hard, you get what you deserve. You go out
there and earn it and you'll get it. So, you know,
salute to him, you know, a big shot out to him.
You know, love the Coach Bowls for certain you know,
same college, you know, and definitely deserves it.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
He's got a moment that we head for him.
Speaker 9 (19:43):
Here comes up within got there to flect it away.
By the way, quitting lay I touched to the quarterback for.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
A guy that's a safety sometimes in the corner sometimes,
he said, Nicole really does a good job.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
There's the stuff they needed. He is a little bit
of a stud here.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
We got defensive that all right, friends, I'm getting flat.
It's either Quinn or it's MJD one of those guys
sort of yelling rams house at some point here on
an NFL network set here. But because Quinton is with us,
we're gonna play a little game, and yes we are
calling it right on cute. We're going to see you
up on a question here and you get an opportunity
to pick a team and then maybe even a specific player.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
And we have emojis that we're gonna have to uh
ready rock and roll here, ready rock roll?
Speaker 2 (20:32):
All right, So first question, you get to pick a
team to answer this question for what under the radar
player on this team do defenses need to respect more?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Who's the team of the player?
Speaker 5 (20:41):
The team I'm going to pick right now is going
to be actually the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I like them a lot. I think, uh it's going
to be.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Interesting in the player that I'm going to choose is
Jays sin Or Jackson Smith and Jigba.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Last year he had a coming into the league season.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
He tied the franchise record for the Seattle Seahawks for receptions,
had over one thousand yards last season. He plays strong,
he's fast, he understands the offense. I'm really excited to
go against him, but also see what he does throughout year.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
All right, in terms of some of those players, he
just dropped a wide receivers to chosen.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
What do you think about you as n Jays? He
he's like that for sure.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
He's definitely going to continue to evolve and I feel
like he's still he hasn't even know really reached the
prime of his career. But definitely definitely top ten receiving
in NFLS season.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
You buying that top ten at a lot of good.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Like I said, like, there's no direspect to anybody.
Speaker 8 (21:42):
It's just a lot of receivers.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
So I think when you talk about top ten, you
put that could be in the changele a lot once
you get to eight.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
Nine, ten. But I think he can be top ten.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
I think he can for sure be solidified top ten
to where I'm not even thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Okay, to your point, there's a lot of a lot
of good receivers in this league. I don't consider hiing
to be a top ten yet, but it's very indicative
of what the with the team and organization things about him.
To let Tyler Lockett go and DK Micatt go and
say here take the rem.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Okay, And by the way, we can't go and with Seattle.
So we're picking some other team here. So what player
do you think of first when you face this team?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Well, I'm gonna go with a new league guy. How
to slide this over?
Speaker 5 (22:22):
A newly guy that just got paid with the San
Francisco forty nineals.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Talk a little bit about brock Party.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Now brock Party, he's been successful over his tenure at
the forty nine Ers. He's been able to go to
the Super Bowl, go to a couple NFC championships, and
there is really a reason why they paid him.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
They trust him. Kyle Shanahan does a great job.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Of putting him in positions to, you know, throw the
ball to his premier supporting cast and you know, that
is a team that you know, I don't necessarily like,
but you have to watch out for. They have him,
they have Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams who's been amazing, George Kibble,
these are all guys who's had.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Continued success in the league. So it should be interesting
to see what they do this year that.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
A healthy Brandon and I, by the way, I feel
like I don't necessarily like them, or something along those lines.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
That is a quote from Quentin.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Lake with regarding the San Francisco forty nine Ers not
shocking there, chosere What do you make of the Niners?
Speaker 7 (23:15):
I like forty nine ers, That's my favorite in the NFC.
Speaker 8 (23:17):
Wes.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Like I said, I think they coming in with a
chip on they shoulder. You know, they've been there before.
They know what it takes, you know, they have some
new pieces, but I think they have the right pieces.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
It's Rock Party for UC's or the guy that you
think of for.
Speaker 8 (23:29):
This team, Yeah for sure.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
No, I know most people are, but I'm off this line.
I think of Trent, the big fella. Yeah, well, when
we thought about forty nine ers, I'm thinking the Trent.
You know what I'm saying. The guys up front, So
that's the think of forty nine first guy come in
my mind?
Speaker 3 (23:44):
All right? For me, I'm gonna say this is the
This is the vibe of the forty nine ers right now.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Right now?
Speaker 3 (23:48):
They're mad, right, they're mad because last year just wasn't
their year. They had a lot of injuries.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
You've always known the forty nine ers as being the
top dogs, highly competitive, but now last year they were down, right,
they were down and out. Not only were they down
and out, they knew that they that was the last
year that they're gonna be able to retain all their goals.
They had to pay Brock Party. By paying Brock Party,
you lost all your contributors on defense, not all, most
most of them, right, So now you got to get
some young bucks in there. So I think they're mad, right,
(24:13):
now because they don't have the respect that they're your
customed to have.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oka, you have to now talk about the Arizona Cardinals,
So you tell me what makes that team difficult to face.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
The thing that makes this team difficult to face, the
Arizona Cardinals is the fact that you have a mobile quarterback.
Anytime you have a mobile quarterback, especially me being a
defensive guy, is you have to look at it two ways.
You know, when the quarterback gets outside of the pocket,
there's a lot of different things that he can do.
You also have to think about his supporting cast as well,
James Connor, Marvin Harrison Junior. You have a lot of
(24:46):
guys that can make plays, and it's interesting to see
what they did. They were very competitive in a lot
of their games last year, so it should be surprising
I say, you know, not going to say they're contenders
in the NFC West, but definitely a team to watch
out for.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Okay, chosen, how do you dissect that squad?
Speaker 6 (25:00):
I feel like what Arizona did a team you can't
sleep on. You know, with Kyler and what he's able
to do back there, and James Connor, you know, he's
he's he's a he's a dog, you know, defense with
Buddha Baker. You know, they have some good pieces. They've
got some good young weapons at receivers. So they definitely
a team you can't look at and like, you know,
figure it's just an automatic wine.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Chose to know your teammates here because any time you're
going to make reference to a Washington here, he's gonna
light up here. What about freezeaster when it comes to
the Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
Yeah, when it comes to the Cardinals, I said last
year they didn't you know, it wasn't you know, an
amazing season. But I get like you said, it's not
a team you want to sleep on, you know, as
of any team, but you don't want to sleep on
the car because they have a.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
Lot of weapons around them.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
And you know, once those guys start to jail together,
I think I think at some point they can be
a really good Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, the thing you said was at some point, right,
So the fact that you said at some point it's
really good, I mean, I don't know, I don't know.
I don't know who the Arizona Cardinals are from week
to week. We know that they have a lot of
really good talent. We know we got we got McBride. Okay,
they got Connor Murray. We know their defense is coming along.
But I don't truly think that you have an identity
just yet. When you step on the field against the Cardinals.
(26:08):
You can put me wrong. I've been out the game
for a minute, right, But you're on the field those guys.
Do you know what you're going to get when you
face these guys on a Sunday?
Speaker 1 (26:16):
I think you do.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
There have been times where they have been challenging. They
come out to play in certain occasions. Obviously, you know,
over the last couple of years, there has been a
little bit of injury. Kyler Murray did have a significant
knee injury, you know, a couple of years ago, so
that played a little bit of a factor. But whenever
we played them, those games were close. You know, one
of the games, unfortunately we got blown out.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Early in the season.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
You know, later in the season, we obviously that that
game came down to the wire. So they always come
to play and they kind of hit their stride later
in the season. I think they got a good team.
I'm not too sure obviously, you know, it is a
who knows. They have to prove it. They haven't been
to the playoffs in a little while, so there is
a lot to prove. It's still a young team there,
(26:59):
I mean, go ahead. Like I said, there's a lot
to prove. I'm not going to say that they don't
have the time, but there is just a stepping stone
that they need to hit to be able to get
to that contender level.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
All Right, I'm going to give you an opportunity talk
about your spot. Who's the one player you can't wait
to see on the field.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
I've talked about it before, but I'm still I'm going
to double down on it. Davonte Adams.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
You look at a guy that has been at the
top of his game and people always talk about and chose.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
You may know this too.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
When guys hit thirty, there's almost a stigma around this
thirty year old receiver. You know, has he lost his
step is? Does he have the same quaintness? Does he
have the same speed? I see him every day and
it is the same guy that you looked at when
he was on the Packers and when he was on
the Raiders as well, and even last year when he
was on the Jets. There is something about him where
he's when he's there.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
He's gone.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
The next second, It's almost like he's you know, Magisiman
or something out there. Footwork is clean, strong hands at
the point of attack.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
He's everything that you wanted a receiver.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
So I can't wait to see exactly what he does,
especially with you know, a great quarterback and a great
coordinator like and great head coach like Sean Devilliam metis.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Yeah, pumped to see him out on the football field
and how that duo is going to match up with
Matthew Stafford. All right, we got to use some sliders
for the Niners. Give me the emotion we can go with. Yeah,
I'll let you sliding here. Okay, you want to go
the forty nine Yeah, you'll go Niners.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Okay, let's go forty nine ers. I think that the
forty nine ers are deer in the hairlines right now, right,
I think they're deer in their hairlines. And the reason
being is, before everything I just mentioned earlier, they want
to get back to what they've always been known for me, right,
they want to get back to walking out with the boombox. Okay,
they want to go out there, they want to hit
you in the mouth. But now they've lost that identity
(28:39):
a little bit. Now. These guys have to reprove themselves now.
A lot of their contributors are a little bit older, Right,
do they still got the juice? And you know they
get you loose? So kidd Or got a ball out,
Trent Williams got a ball out, Brock Purdy got a
He has to fulfill that contract now. So a lot
of guys have to step up for them. So I
think right now they're like, ooh, do we still got it?
Oh know, we got to prove it.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
All right, chosen We were loving up this Cardinals. Seen
Quint was being diplomatic about the squad. What's the emoji
that you would associate with them?
Speaker 8 (29:04):
Put that?
Speaker 6 (29:05):
You know they're happy, you know they living in Arizona.
I feel like they like, you know, kind of like
they're not scared when it comes to game. They you know,
like they vibe and Colin Murray cool dude and whatnot.
But it's you know, I'm gonna give them. You gotta
get arizonam they're living nice.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I feel like if you're gonna go Arizona, you're gonna
make reference to the weather. You got to have the
shade that's fine, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
Left for you sees your Seattle.
Speaker 8 (29:29):
Well, we're talking about weather.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
You're not sliding it.
Speaker 8 (29:34):
Yeah, we talking about weather. It's not gonna slide.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
But uh, you know a lot of changes another team
I'm I'm.
Speaker 8 (29:39):
Not sure about. Oh man, oh.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
You're good, You're good, You're good. It'll still work.
Speaker 8 (29:45):
I think.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Different perspective, So I think, uh feel battle for them,
We understand that.
Speaker 8 (29:51):
Yeah, I don't like that emotion. We're gonna we wanna
put them here. Right. This is a smiley face because
you know, I like it's neutral. Like I don't.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
We don't know too much. We don't we don't know
what to expect, so I keep miley face.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
You know, everyone talks about the Seattle weather you played college.
I just want to throw this out there. In the summer,
I used to head up to Washington Beauty and it.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Is up there only Yeah, yes, so it's not all
year long.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
I just I'm just trying to find a ray of sunshine,
and there's some of it in those summer months.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
We got more GMFP still to come here.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Oh yeah, it's the off season. That means that you're
getting another list from yours truly, But this time around,
we're talking about the fellas who do the dirty work.
The boys we have to put their hand in the ground,
block the big fellas, and then they're gonna go out
there and show a little and get their hands dirty
and get the yak yardage with their with their fingertips.
Talking about the tight ends. Hey, the guys that I
(30:53):
considered to be one of the most underrated, undervalue players
on the field, We're gonna get into a top five list.
Your favorite might not be on this list. Don't come
at me, Come with me.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
They're gonna be coming at You're gonna be number five
on my lists.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
We're gonna go to a dude who just might bite
off your knee cap from his head coach and name
is Sam Laporta. This dude is a complete dog. He's
been in the league for two years. Sixteen hundred yards
seventeen let me run that back, seventeen touchdowns in two
years as a tight end. He is in the perfect
offense that allows for him to do the dirty work
(31:27):
at the line of scrimmage by getting the running game going,
and then he can go out there and route up linebackers,
safeties and nickelbacks. Sam Laporter comes in at my number
five on the best tight ends in the current league. Now,
this is where everybody's gonna come at. Don't come at me.
Speaker 8 (31:43):
This dude.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
All he does is collect rings. You might as well
call him sognic. But Travis Kelce is number four on
my list. We know that this dude has been a
dog for a long time. Over twelve years, this dude
has over a thousand yards, a thousand receptions. This dude
has over twelve thousand yards. He is considered to be
one of the most respectable, most consistent tight ends in
(32:04):
the league. Last year, we know it was a down
year for him, but don't count him out. And this
dude knows how to get in the end zone. Seventy
seven touchdowns on his career. I think he's gonna have
a nice little resurgence this year. Now, you're probably got
to be crazy. How to heck this Travis Kelsey not
get into the top three. Well, he doesn't get into
the top three because there's some young bucks that are
on this list, And the young buck that I want
to talk about next he just might be an Olympics
(32:25):
His name is Trey McBride. This dude will jump and
hurdle over anybody. He is somebody who wants the smoke.
You better bring more people, because this dude is gonna
run through the first guy you see him on there. Nope,
not big enough. Do you need more? He's gonna go
out there, Yep, hurtle over. You give me all that
like reach mound. Okay, two hundred and twenty one, two
and twenty one receptions, all right, he has over eleven
(32:46):
hundred yards last year alone, one hundred eleven receptions. This
dude catches the rock. No matter who you want to
put on him, he can match up well against him,
and he's not going to go down easy. He is set.
He has a nice little safety blanket out there for
Kyler Murray and he's gonna continue to do great things
in this league. He's only played three years now. The
next cat that I got, this dude came up on
the scene and he is your number one fantasy receiver,
(33:09):
slast tight end, whatever you want to call him. He
is brock Bowers. He did the work in Georgia down
there with the Bulldogs, and now he's on the scene
with the Raiders. He has a new quarterback and he
is going to continue to do work. He's somebody that
you have to be feared, fearful up. He's somebody that
can route you up, just like you see on the screen.
He's shifty, he's shaky, he's physical, he has hands like
(33:30):
a receiver, and he's somebody who has a knack for
the end zone. You see it right there on your
screen that half the team is trying to bring him
down and is still not enough. I'm looking forward to
continue to see this dude's career. He's just getting going now.
Speaker 8 (33:42):
Number one, what I.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Consider to be the man who does it all, the
man with the plan George Chittle put a WWE belt
around his waist. He loves the game. He has the energy,
he has tenacity. Look at him, He's nothing but a
ball of energy. He will rout you up. He gets
dirty in the running game. It doesn't matter if you're
a defensive lineman, it doesn't matter if you're in safety.
You have to put respect on this man's name. He
(34:06):
impacts the game whenever he's on the field, and he
makes and obviously he's going ouf there you trying to
chase some more rings. Rock Purty. That's your best friend
going forward. And if you're alignment. Oh you better buck
up your chance draft, but he's gonna try to put
you in the mud. That is what I got for you.
M on the top five. I know I have a
table full of cats that have something that can contribute
to this. What do y'all think about the list?
Speaker 5 (34:27):
You know, surprisingly, that's a great that's a great list.
These are all guys, if you think about it, that
can line up by themselves and be mismatches.
Speaker 8 (34:34):
You know.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Sometimes you know offenses they'll just put a tight end.
You know, they'll put all the receivers on one side,
tight end none the other. You're not worried about the
tight end. But all these guys that you just listen,
that is the primary. That is a quarterback's favorite quarterback
safety blanket. Like you talked about, so great list. Honestly,
what you got?
Speaker 6 (34:51):
What you I think the list pretty solid? Only damn
I'm sitting here debating is the number five. I kind
of feel based on last year his production that Janus
Smith could have pushed that you know, set in that
tight end record for the offense last year and what
he did in Atlanta and like this explosively and I
feel like he's a running back at tight end, you know,
and he's like a cannon ball, So I kind of
(35:12):
feel like that part of.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
It was like in there.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
Yeah, But besides that, I think everything is pretty solid.
Definitely on Trey McBride, you know, I've been around him.
He's definitely a dog. Definitely him and Kelsey. You know,
I still think Kessey's you know, him and Kittle one
and two.
Speaker 7 (35:27):
But definitely agree with the list the.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Big fellows up front. What you think, Hey, I'm with you.
I want to disagree with you, but you hoop him
right now. And it's one thing I want to touch
on too, is how George Kittle is number one and
I think he's going to continue to because he has
a number one spot for me, he's going to continue
to be that number one tight end because of how
dirty he gets in the run game and a lot
of tight ends, you know, he's basically like an extra
(35:52):
offensive lineman that's out there running routes and blocking, and
he makes an impact in the run game too as
if he was offensive lineman. So I think he's always
going to be at that number one spot. And I
think you touched on a great point too when you
said getting dirty in the run game and offensive lineman.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
We love that, So I actually don't think many people
are going to have a problem with you. I know
you name checked it with Kelsey. It's not a lifetime
Achievement award. It was entering this upcoming season. I think
the rankings would be different if it was their entire career.
You probably wouldn't have some of these young bucks there.
Josn brings up Johnny Smith, I Kate Otten, you and
I were talking about him.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
There's some Mark Andrewsale likely on that team.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
There's some guys that are definitely honorable mention. But these guys,
to me, are either being so consistent for so long, right,
or these guys with some young bucks, a lot of
young talent, that tight end that's coming up on the scene,
and they're making it hard for some of these older
guys to kind of stick around.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Yeah, Bill's Mafia is sitting there going you're not mentioning
our dudes. So just to throw that out there, there's
some really good options. Trey McBride, though probably doesn't get
enough love for what he is able to do on
the field. Anytime you watch this dude on the sideline
just kind of working in great hands for him and
brock Bauers. You make an argument he could be number one.
This season has gone up
