Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
That's right DMB on a Tuesday, everybody, welcome inside, Jamie Mantai,
Isaac and Kyle welcome back to myself in the studio.
It feels good to be back. I was in Spain
all last week and on game day Sunday got to
like a lot of legends hanging out. I met Dan Marino,
I met Joe Daiesman. It was really cool. There was
a lot of big names, a lot of yellow jackets
walking around. Zach Thomas was one of the honorary captains

(00:29):
for the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Was the time, They're so happy to have you back, Jamee.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
I know Kyle is really appreciative that you're back because
he had to do some heavy lifting to like host
do his takes, do all of that, and there's that
awkward eight seconds where you usually kick in and say something, yeah,
I had to fill them and let's just say it
wasn't as grace was when you do it.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
So I'm happy to have you back on my right.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
It's hard.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
It's like trying to throw in and catch a ball,
which I know some gold jacket guys can do.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
But Kyle, I hear you. Sometimes I just have.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
To lend up to what you you're the brilliance that
you bring to television, like when you have to read
the short highlight from Cowboys Raiders on Monday Night for
what do you have for us?

Speaker 5 (01:05):
Makes the magic?

Speaker 6 (01:06):
He's the cake roll it.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Let's set the tone with the stock image of a
generic blue football helmet. There it is, and now let's
get to Cowboys Raiders where this was actually a very
very well done night about a very terrible story.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
I thought the tributes to Marshawn.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Nieland all of the words, all of the signs, especially
coming from Dak Prescott were really really spot on in
tone perfect More on that in a little bit. And meanwhile,
the football on the football side, I think the Cowboys
got a pretty easy win, which they have not been
able to do much this year, as you can see
by their.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Three digit record.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
But afterwards a lot of the thoughts were on Marshaw Kneeland,
the game, the year that season that the Cowboys are having.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
Let's hear from both head coaches.

Speaker 7 (01:47):
So proud of these guys, Calvin, I mean, the way
that they grieved, cried, laughed, but they wanted to honor him,
and we're not done honoring him. He's a part of
our family forever. But I'm proud of those guys because
just the way they played today, they played with marsha
ns play soft.

Speaker 8 (02:08):
We got sacked a little bit, we got hit a
little bit and didn't work out. It was really disappointed
that we didn't stop them more they had. There was
a space in that game, went three or four drives
in a row and we could couldn't get off the field.
And O Piggins was really he was really a problem
for us. It wasn't just when he caught it, it was
just after catch stuff. That really was impressive that he

(02:29):
was able to run through us like that and so
very difficult night for us. Sorry about it.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Feel bad.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
A challenge which means the Raiders are not even in
our lurking column.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
A couple of years back, guys who are.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
New to the table, we as a show decided that
we are not in the hunt. We officially make the
teams on the right hand column lurking right Texans.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Oddly enough, Chiefs and Ravens are in.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
The lurking column, which means that on the left side,
this beautiful Orange Animal with Bootman as their mascot is
taking up the left side of the screen at nine
and two with the Pats and the Colts. Someone is
telling me to say, is this the changing of the
guard or it's it just a revisiting of an old
guard from the late two thousand ten's with Eli and

(03:12):
Mansi and man Matti.

Speaker 6 (03:16):
Yes, yes, sir, yea, sir, yes, you know it again.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
I approved this.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Wait, Brady and Peyton and I don't know why, I'm
just reading the.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Names on Mansi. Is it the changing of the guards?

Speaker 4 (03:35):
I like that, James, Okay, Do I think that it's
a change of the guard in the AFC in some
In some cases yes, in some cases no.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
What Jamie is referring to and back.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
In the day was when the Cults were really good
with Peyton Manning and they had those battles with the
with the New England Patriots, the New England Patriots. This
year with Mike Rabel and Drake May has looked like
the Patriots that we used to seeing back in those
days that Jamie was referring to. I do believe that
is the changing of the guard in the AFC East.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I like what Mike Rabel has built there.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
I think he's built a Robluck foundation and the culture
that is it's easy to carry.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Over from year to year.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
As far as the AFC West, talking about the Patriots
from back in the day with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick,
I equate them to Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. As
long as those two are together, I can't say that
there's a change of guard in the AFC West.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
Now.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
That doesn't discredit what the.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Broncos and Sean Payton has been able to do this year.
But as long as fifteen is still the quarterback to
the Chiefs and Andy Reid has still coming into place,
I can't pass them up. As far as the AFC
South and the Coats, I asked the question, can you
do it again? I've seen Daniel Jones play phenomenal one year.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Can you do it two years in a row for
Shane Steichen.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
I have never seen the Coats be as dominant in
one year? Can he do it again? That man right there,
that's Karen the Ball. I've seen him do it. He's
a perennial Pro Bowl All Pro running back. So I
know that twenty eight will always answer the bill. As
far as everybody else. That is something that remains to
be determined. So that I do to answer the question, Isaac,

(05:11):
I do see a change.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Of guard in some divisions. I don't see it at all.

Speaker 6 (05:15):
I think all is right in the NFL right now.

Speaker 9 (05:17):
I think it's this is where the NFL has been.
If you look at the last twenty years, two decades,
this is a comfortable spot here.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
I also want to just note.

Speaker 9 (05:25):
Patriots fans are the most spoiled fans in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Let's not act like a little five year low is
something over right.

Speaker 9 (05:33):
This team is dominated for the last two decades. It
hasn't even been close by the way I played them
in twenty twenty two when I was with the Browns,
Bailey Zappi was quarterback and we were still scared. When
I say me me, I was like, I know they're serious.
I'm not sleeping on them. We don't need to roll
the tape on that. I'm just excited about these young
quarterbacks though in the AFC, specifically bow Knicks and then

(05:53):
Drake May. I mean these are two guys. I mean
these they're brand new to the NFL.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
Welcome to the league.

Speaker 9 (05:58):
You guys have not been here long and you're already
making such a splash, especially as they go, you know,
a couple of years in right, we start to learn
more about them, and I think everybody's loving it again.

Speaker 6 (06:08):
Patriots fans are spoiled.

Speaker 9 (06:09):
You have a phenomenal quarterback throwing the ball, and you
know what you what you know what else you have
is a phenomenal coach, which is very exciting when you
look at what Vrabel has been able to do already
in that organization. It's kind of a Ben Johnson cultural
play where it's everything has changed. It's like the Patriots
have been restored. Everybody can sit back and watch a
great franchise continue to do what they do. And then

(06:30):
obviously the Broncos. I mean, it's been fun to watch
Bo Nicks and this AFC West team dominate. So yeah,
it's restored, changing the guard, whatever you want to call it.
We're back to We're back to twenty ten football.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Listen.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
The guard is in Kansas City, and I think the
most interesting game of the entire regular season schedule all
eighteen weeks is Colts at Chiefs this weekend.

Speaker 6 (06:52):
I think this is huge.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Because everyone looks at the Colts and you say, I
can't believe this is happening, and everyone looks at the
Chiefs and you say, I can't believe this is happening.
There's this thing where there's a to buy into Daniel
Jones and the Chiefs, and there's a loaf ness to
really believe that maybe the Chiefs are actually dying.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
I can't wait for this game.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Is this is the biggest regular season game of Patrick
Mahomes's career because they lose this game. I mean, I'm
calling it it's over. You're five and six, You're done.
I'll stick with you at five and five, just in
case you pull off the run, but at five and six,
I'm calling it's Is this the biggest regular season game
of Andy Reid's career, whose career goes way way way.

Speaker 6 (07:32):
Back before Patrick Mahomes. I'll tell you why this is
so big.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
It's because it's more than the twenty twenty five season,
and it's more than just them going five and six.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Patrick Mahomes Chiefs are more than just football. Their history.
They're like American history.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Our kids are going to know about the Patrick Mahomes Chiefs,
Our grandkids are going to know.

Speaker 6 (07:50):
And let's be honest, there's a lot.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Of comparisons between these Chiefs and the Brady Patriots. There
always have been and there always will be. The Brady
Patriots never pulled some of this stuff. They missed the
playoffs one time, and it was when brady'sknee got nuked
in the beginning of the season, and that was it.
They didn't go five and five. Oh sorry, we had
a seven and ten season.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
They didn't do some weird filler season.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Patrick Mahomes is out there with his head coach, his
best buddy, Ty End, His wide receivers are back, the
defensive coordinator that everybody loves is still there, the kicker
is still.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
There, the band is all there.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
It is not like everybody left in free agency and
Patrick Mahomes has no one left to play with and
he just have to do it all by himself. It's
still there and they can't win. So this season will
be looked at in ten years, twenty years, fifty years
as I don't know the Brady Patriots that she's the
Mahomes Chiefs say, that's what about that twenty twenty five
season where for some reason they just went seven to

(08:43):
ten and no one understood why this is the direction
it starts to go if they lose this weekend to
who to Daniel Jones at Arrowhead Stadium. I think it
is the most intriguing game of the season and the
biggest regular season game of Mahomes and Andy.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Reid's entire careers.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
So, guys, we talked about the AFC South. We've talked
about the East, and we talked about the West.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
We have not talked about the North.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
Isaac, I'll start with you.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Have we avoided in the North because we think that
there is no change in guard with the Ravens being
so dominant.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
How do you see the AFC North.

Speaker 9 (09:11):
I think it's just been a weird year for the
AFC North. We've seen I mean, everybody was excited about
the Ravens coming into this year, as they should be, right,
you have Lamar Jackson and you have one of the
best running backs in the NFL that we've seen period,
and then what happens first two games.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
It's not exciting, and so I think it's just been
a weird year.

Speaker 9 (09:28):
And then obviously the quarterback issues a lot of injuries.
So yeah, I don't think this is a division that
really should be talked about on this segment, I think
the Steelers is the only team as you guys see,
that's kind of exciting. But even then, now we don't
have Roger, so it's interesting.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
You know, who wants to be on hand for if
the changing of the guard does happen is CBS. An
interesting nuance to all of this is that the a
crew at CBS that the Tony Romo, the Jim Nanza,
Trace Wilson. Four games straight.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
These guys have been on site to watch the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
They've watched the goods, the bads, and we don't know
what's going to happen this weekend, Kyle, in the spirit
of NBC flexing games taking.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Them, it becomes a broadcast whatnot?

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Like your thoughts and sants on the fact that it
has been a Jim nance Chiefs experience, like the CBS
fully committed to the Chiefs and like whatever has ever
happened the last month, But now here we go, they're
going to be on hand to watch the Colts and
we'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Well, I think it's it's appropriate because you either see
the Chiefs get off the mat or you're there for
the chief's funeral. And I mean I say that respectfully.
It's the end of the season. I want to hear
Jim Nance as the Chiefs that the clock goes to
triple zero and the Chiefs go to five and six
and Patrick Mahomes is walking around shaking hands with Daniel Chom.
What a weird time to be alive. It's a really

(10:42):
really crazy thing. So I think they're like, listen, it's
maybe there's other games we could go to, and there's
some really good games this weekend. Yeah, but whatever happens
here is interesting. The Chiefs survive or oh my god,
the Colts put them down and Jonathan Taylor's still running.
You gotta be there. It's all eyes on this game.
I love this game.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Absolutely all right. So that's this weekend on CBS.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Elsewhere on CBS it's Patriots at Bengals, and the Bengals
could be with out one of their Star Wride receivers.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
As we welcome in Tom.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Pellisero, our NFL Network insider with us today. Tom, we
saw what went down between the Steelers and the Bengals
this last weekend, but now we know a little bit
more in terms of the interaction between Jamar Chase.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
And Jalen Ramsey.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
That's right, Jamie.

Speaker 10 (11:20):
The NFL has suspended Jamar Chase for one game without
pay after he was caught on camera spitting on Steelers
defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Chase is appealing this. I am
told that appeal will be heard today. If it fails,
then Chase will be out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
It's important to understand the precedent in this matter. Go

(11:42):
back to Week one, Jalen Carter of the Eagles was
ejected before the opening snap for spitting on Dak Prescott. Ultimately,
Carter was suspended one game without pay with credit four
times served.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
But because Carter and his.

Speaker 10 (11:57):
Agent did not appeal that, the NFL would say the
president is set spitting is now an automatic one game suspended.
The NFL Players Association might have different ideas on that.
That's what this appeal is going to be about. If
Chase does indeed miss the week's game, he would leaves
over a half million dollars or roughly four hundred forty
eight thousand dollars game check, as well as his more

(12:19):
than fifty eight thousand dollars active roster bonus. In other news,
the Jets are making a quarterback change at last, justin
Fields to the bench. Tyrod Taylor will get the start
on Sunday against the Ravens. Now It seemed like this
was going to happen about a month ago, but Taylor
ended up dealing with a knee injury. Fields remained in
the lineup led the Jets two consecutive wins, but then

(12:40):
this past week did not play well in a Thursday
night game against the Patriots that quite likely his last
start in a Jets uniform. He is fully guaranteed ten
million dollars in twenty twenty six. That's something that the
Jets could relatively easily get out of. Big changes likely
coming in the offseason in New York. As for the
Steelers of their quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he suffered a small

(13:03):
fracture and his left wrist his non throwing risk. It
kept him out in the second half of Sunday's game
against the Bengals. Now, my understanding has been this is
not believed to be anything long term for Rogers. He
underwent a variety of scans on Monday. The whole is
that he is not going to need surgery. Potentially can

(13:23):
brace it up, protect it and play as soon as
this week, but certainly with a forty one year old
future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, something worth monitoring closely as
we move through this week.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
Jamie.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
I don't have your sources, Tom, but I maintain that
Aaron Rodgers it means so much to him to go
to Soldier Field, which I consider his home stadium as
the Steeler and play that game. If there's anything he
can do, I know he'll be out there. But one
of his teammates, Tom, circling back to your first story,
I'm intrigued by the role of Jalen Ramsey in the
Jamar Chase spitting incidents. What awaits Jalen Ramsey Just my

(13:55):
opinion here, he's going face to face, he gets spit
on and shoves his face away. I feel like completely justified.
If someone spits in your face and that's all that
you do. I hope there's not not something hugely punitive
coming from him. Tell me what's waiting for Jalen Ramsey.

Speaker 10 (14:10):
Well, you certainly if you watch the video can see
there is a direct correlation between the spit and moments
later when Jalen Ramsey grabs Jamar Chase's face mask ends
up with both of his hands around the chin of
Jamar Chase. For Ramsey, first of all, this is not
much of a punch. This is not hauling off like
Doron Pain did against Aman Ross, saying brown and truly

(14:32):
taking a swing. You can see Ramsey is very upset
in this moment. He ends up getting ejected. Nothing happened
in the game to Jamar Chase. Officials didn't throw a flight,
They didn't see the spit. What that means is the
league office can only intervene if there is a foul
called on the play. In other words, if Jamar Chase
had been flagged from sportsmanlike conduct, the NFL could.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
Have weighed in and ejected him.

Speaker 10 (14:56):
Instead, what they see, as so often happens, is the
reaction by Jalen Ramsey he gets ejected. There is not, though,
some type of an automatic fine or loss of a
game check or anything like that. When it comes to
a player rejection. Everything is about the act that takes place.
It's not even a guarantee that Jalen Ramsey ends up
getting fined, given the fact that again he paid a

(15:18):
pretty stiff price for retaliating at somebody who will apparently
spit on him. The fine for a first defense for
kicking or striking or punching, it's about fourteen thousand dollars.
This would not be the first time that Jalen Ramsey
has run a foul of the player's safety rules, but
certainly seems like if there is any fine, it will
be very small in comparison to what Jamar Chase is

(15:40):
now facing here with a one game on fun paid suspension.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Cop The the Hawks, more specifically Sam Darnold, had a
tough outing against their division rival, the Rams of so
Far over the weekend. Their head coach Mike McDonald, in
his press conference yesterday said that despite the performance, he
doesn't want his quarterback to change the type of player
that he is.

Speaker 11 (16:04):
Just need to get to the next play. And Sam's
played in time and in rhythm a lot this year,
and he's made a lot of plays for us doing that,
and he's also made a lot of plays off schedule.
So again, you don't want to take the playmaker out
of out of him. And but you also understand, you know,
when we when we need to when we need to
be able to get the next play versus you know,

(16:26):
putting the ball in jeopardy. Down the field and and
we'll learn from it and we'll grow from it.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
But that's that's really what we.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Saw, all right.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
I understand the philosophy that one bad outing can't define
a player, but Sam Donald hasn't spent a lot of
time on task and big moments to define that. He
is a big time quarterback, big moment quarterback. So, Isaac,
what do you make of this when you see how
Donald played? It was a four interception game? Big deal
or no big deal? What we saw from Donald against
the Rams on Sunday.

Speaker 9 (16:54):
I think it's a big deal. Okay, and this this
is what I wrote down. It's a big deal until
proven otherwise. It's like guilty until proven otherwise or excuse me,
and it's sent. But what is Mike McDonald's supposed to say,
Like he's going to come in the media and praise
his quarterback. He should do that as a head coach
and a leader. I think ultimately, as a spectator, you
have to find issues with this. I mean, this is

(17:14):
not the first time that Sam Donald has struggled in
these big games, specifically against the Rams. Right now, if
he comes out, this team is going to go to
the playoffs. If we watch him Week one, week two
of the playoffs. If they continue to progress in that
way and he plays well, sure all bets are off.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Right.

Speaker 9 (17:31):
You don't need to talk about Sam Donald being a
big game issue quarterback. But when you play an important
game and you throw four picks, and I know it's
three true picks.

Speaker 6 (17:40):
One was not his fault.

Speaker 9 (17:41):
When you throw three picks, that's an issue and your
team lost by three. Literally just take away one of
those and then you win.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (17:49):
I think it's an issue until prove another one.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Yeah, and I think it's a big deal that he
threw the picks, But I don't think it's a big
deal that he struggles against a certain team.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Why because there has been so many.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Quarterbacks in this league that just seem to struggle with
a certain team. Look no further than current MVP Josh
Josh Allen is an amazing quarterback, but he struggles against
a certain team like the Chiefs. He's own four against
the Chiefs in the playoffs. Tom Brady. Tom Brady struggled
against the Eli Manning and the Giants and the biggest
game there is in the Super Bowl. We can keep

(18:18):
going down the list Peyton Manny versus Patriots. We lost
ten of their first twelve games, including the playoffs. Kirk
Warner versus saintsh and two in the playoffs through three
or more interceptions in those games. Steve Young versus Packers,
He's ohing eight until in nineteen ninety eight in the
wildcard game they had to catch verse two Virgin two
the terro Owens, and then Joe Montanno versus Broncos owing

(18:41):
three until finally beating them in Super Bowl twenty four.
So that Sam donald narrative about him struggling against the Rams,
it's not a big deal because it happens in this league.
What is a big deal is the fact that he
threw for all of those interceptions last week.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
That's what I consider a big deal.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
But to have a quarterback that has struggles against a
certain team, this is not something that's new to Sam Donald.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
It happens.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
That's happened throughout the hit of this game, and it
will continue to happen. So that's not a big deal
to me.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Caugh This is all across the board. This is not
a big deal. It's not a no big deal. It's
a massive deal. It's a huge deal. There's the sense
if you're following the league like we are, when you
look at the Seahawks, you can choose to think like
this is not going to end well, is it?

Speaker 6 (19:24):
I can just see it.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Now or Sam Donald surprises everybody and turns it around.
People get reputations for a reason.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
They're unfair. They're fair until you unearn them. Sam Donald
right now.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Has a reputation of a very good quarterback who in
very big moments does not play his best ball.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
I'll say that respectfully.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
We saw it last year, we've seen it from years before,
and we saw it in this game. It was confirming
everyone's fears about Sam Donald that you know, he can
light up someone like Arizona, but then you go against
this Rams defense and he doesn't look like the same player.
The best thing we can say about him in that game,
Isaac just said it.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
I've said it myself. Well, the fourth interception wasn't his fault.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
I mean, you have it three were That's the best
thing we could possibly say in one of your a
couple of your comparisonst man Tie about.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Historical great quarterbacks who've struggled.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
You know, I look at Peyton Manning, and how did
he finally beat Tom Brady. He got him at home
in the playoffs with Indianapolis. He got him at home
in the playoffs again when he was with Denver. Here's
the deal. They're gonna face their Rams again in a
few weeks. It's on Amazon Prime, it's on Thursday. It's
gonna be in Seattle. If he struggles in that game,
it's gonna be really rough in the media and what

(20:30):
we do. And then there's a really good chance they're
going to play the Rams in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
Is it at home? Is in LA and doesn't even matter.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Sam Donald should be one of the true great stories
about one of the true great guys. The problem is
when you play really poor in a huge game, you
don't get to have the great story label. The great
story has to come with it great football in great opportunities,
and he's missing that right now. Maybe he'll surprise us,
but it feels a little bit like the writing's on
the wall for a Seahawks team that is a great

(20:57):
team from top to bottom if their quarterback can only
throw better in bigger moments.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
And God bless him, I hope he does.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Another version of the personal story great story label is.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
Developing in Cleveland right now.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
With everything that Miles Garrett is doing for the Browns defense, It's.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Really fun to watch him.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
It's painful to watch the Browns at times because you
just don't know what product they're putting on the field
on all three phases, but you know what you're always
going to get from Miles Garrett, which means his name
continues to pass guys on all time sack leader This
season alone.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
The man has fifteen sacks.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
However, in his last three games he has ten, which
means he's jumping guys on the all time sacks leader
board like JJ Watt, Chandler Jones, TJ Watt. It's crazy
a lot of those guys still playing. But Miles Garrett
is constantly on the move in the opposing team's backfield
and in NFL history on the sack list. So the
accolades are well within reach and that's wonderful, but the

(21:51):
Browns aren't winning.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
Mantai, is this a big deal or is it an
no big deal?

Speaker 4 (21:55):
I think it's a huge deal, Jamie, because if we
all remember where we were when historical moments happened. I
remember where I was in two thousand and five when
there's the Bush push Notre Dame versus USC at Notre Dame.
I was at my uncle David's house and just crying
because at that time I was a USC fan. I
thought US was going to lose. I remember where I
was in six when LT broke that rushing record he
ran to the left side against the Denver Broncos, and

(22:17):
how they celebrated.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
They lifted him up and he pointed that way.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
I also remember where I was on October eight, twenty eighteen,
when Drew Brees broke the all time passing record currently
held by Peyton Manning. I was literally on the sideline
guys watching this play where he hit Trey Coon Smith
on the right side and he's running down the sideline.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I remember how I felt. I remember what I remember
what I did. Matter of fact, I think we have
clips of what I actually did. Like we're all celebrating.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
You have Drew Brees over there were congratulating him, and
everybody's in a helmet, and then you see one dude
run on there with a beatie and that's your boy,
your boy boy. I'm so glad that Sean didn't get
mad at me.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
That Yeah, that's.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Where I remember I.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Was in historical moments and historical time, and from Miles
Garrett to continue to make and accomplish all of these
great things.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
If and when he does break another.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
Record, I think there are going to be so many
people that going to remember.

Speaker 9 (23:14):
Where they are at Isaac, Yeah, I mean the question
here is why are we talking about this? Why is
this important for this segment?

Speaker 6 (23:20):
A big deal or no big deal?

Speaker 9 (23:22):
It's because the Browns consistently have not created a winning culture,
have not been able to find a consistent quarterback situation.
So now we have to talk about is this a
big deal that Miles is doing this? Is this an
important part of this franchise and the bigger picture. If
he was on a winning team, this would be all
we're talking about, right and it would be a big

(23:42):
deal and it wouldn't be a question. The issue right
now is the team that he's on, And.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago. They
have to do better for Miles. When you have a
guy who's.

Speaker 9 (23:51):
Got fifteen sacks through eleven weeks, that's crazy, that doesn't happen.
We're talking about a guy who is generational and this
franchise has not been able to keep up with him
up to this point. So I'm just frustrated that we
even have to talk about this because of the franchise that.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
He's been in.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Isaac, I am picking up what you are putting down.
I can't stand this.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
This is a shame to me. He's going to do it.
I think he's got it.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I think he's going he's got what seven games left
or whoever many sacks he's going to get. Understand that
Miles Garrett is likely, in my opinion, going to break
the sack record, which is one of the records that
we do really follow. And remember, he's probably going to
do it in Week eighteen on a last place, terrible
team on the road against a terrible Cincinnati team, not

(24:40):
even so much as the Browns fans being there to
celebrate to cheer for him. This is weird. This is
really weird. It's just this is not going to be memorable.
This is not going to be something that we're like, Wow,
that great twenty twenty five Miles Garrett season. At least listen,
TJ Wadde is twenty two and a half and he
tied the record. He did that in the final week
of the season against the Ravens, the rival Ravens to

(25:02):
get the Steelers into the.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
Playoffs, and had some steaks. This is empty calories. He
could have ten sacks in the last game. They're like, yeah,
great as the Browns. This Miles Garrett.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
It's just like, it's a football shame to me that
if this happens. I really respect that number. And this
is gonna follow Miles Garrett around. This is not gonna
be a great thing for him. It's going to be
looked at. Oh yeah, like you were on that terrible
team and you took tons of money after saying you
didn't want to be on the team, and then you
showed up and the team sucked like you knew it would, and.

Speaker 6 (25:28):
You had a bunch of sacks. Like look at straight hands.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Stray Han's got to answer every single time about their
sack record that Farm handed it to him.

Speaker 6 (25:35):
It's a loaded thing for the rest of your life.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
So I don't know, Like, I love Miles Garrett as
a player, and I think it seems like a really
interesting guy.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
I hope he doesn't get the sack record.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
I don't want it to be I want it to
be on something more triumphant.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
More memorable and not so loaded and negative. I hope
he doesn't get it.

Speaker 5 (25:50):
I appreciate what you all are saying.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
It's like either forcing our hand to talk about this
headline and this record, and it's we all hate empty calories.
But it is the holiday season, so sometimes you just
have to deal with.

Speaker 12 (26:00):
It live callers on the air, so few shows on
this television here dare to do it.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
We're not great. We want to touch it and see
if we burn. And for that we go to the
phone line. Thirty seconds will be on the clock. You
got thirty seconds.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
To give your take.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Today is an area of grievances, or rather an airing
of concerns. You're worried about your team? Who isn't tell
me what you're worried about? Tom me what we're gonna
do about it. Let's get it started. We'll all pick
our favorite call at the end of the segment. Let's
first go to Wisconsin, my guy, Chuck, Chuck, you from
bar Boosha, Boygan, Pelwaukee, Auclaire, Lacrosse, Madison.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Where are you from, Chuck? And what do you want
to say about your packers?

Speaker 13 (26:38):
All right, I'm from Appleton, I'm a lifelong Package fan,
and I just got to say, we think, what are
we doing out there? Jordan Love? We got Jordan Love
drowing fifty yard bomb into tip coverage certain times? What
are you doing? We got guys wearing longestly shirt thermal
in the frozen tundra, And I just want the old Darthack.

(26:59):
Where's the not cold guard? Give me Don Beebe, give
me much Murra, Edgar Bennett, Buba Frank, send me the
old guys. Where's the great Bigger?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
I hate to cut you off in the grave Digger
Gilbert Brown, but I love the references. I love that
you choose to think of Don Beebe as a packer
and we had a Mark Shimura shout out. I also
love that Packers fans are upset. I've said this many times.
You guys have such a wonderful life. You're still in
the playoffs, you still have a franchise quarterback. Things aren't
exactly miserable for you. But I do hear what you're saying, Chuck.
It doesn't seem like this is going to be a

(27:31):
super Bowl season, at least not now. Cold weather or
two that weren't sleeves at Jersey This weekend against the Giants.

Speaker 6 (27:38):
Trust me, I live here, Chuck.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
It's not pleasant, and there's me a lot of sleeves
in the pregame. I'll be tracking it next. Let's go
to something warmer state of Florida. Who knows where? I
just only see States Mark in Florida, but a Steelers fan,
part of Steelers Nation Mark.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
Let a rip, baby, I'd eat.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Aaron Rodgers to man up, put the cat on and
let's get into ball game this weekend.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
We know it's being a Steeler fans. Our court quarterback
as Roblisberger's play injured carry even played with a cast
on at seven and seven for two months.

Speaker 14 (28:08):
So Aaron put the.

Speaker 13 (28:09):
Cast don bluck it up and let's getting the ball
game and with the fair fat on Sunday, let's get done.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
You have ten seconds.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Give me one word to describe how you're feeling as
a Steeler fan about Rodgers.

Speaker 13 (28:20):
One word good because he's solid.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
You know what that's you guys, though, isn't it Mark?
You're solid, You're always solid, You're always good, and that
can kind of be a bad thing. I've said this
since the injury happened. I'm not an insider. I don't
do the injury reports. I don't go with the sources,
but I know Aaron Rodgers and I feel like he
is playing in that game. He is playing in that game.
It's his non throwing hand. There's an issue of him

(28:45):
taking the snap. I don't think he gives a damn.
That is his home field, Soldier Field. It should be
called Rodgers Field. He's in the owner's box. He wants
to play this game so badly, more than any other
game on the Steelers schedule. He is so mad that
he's injured. And I believe you've heard it here. I
think Aaron Rodgers is going to play in that game. Next,
let's go to the state of ohiob Ub, Bob, Bob.

(29:06):
I haven't taked that everyone from a certain generation is
named Bob. My father's named Bob, my uncle was named Bob.
My middle name is Bob.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
Bob. Are you over sixty five years old?

Speaker 8 (29:16):
No?

Speaker 15 (29:17):
Hey, no, I'm not. I'm close sixty one.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
All right under the wire, Bob, I love it, a
youthful sixty one.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
What do you feel about the Browns, Bob?

Speaker 15 (29:25):
Oh, my goodness. We can't throw, run, block, catch, but
we make up for it with awful special teams. I
think the fans are our own worst enemy. We keep
feeding the Golden Goose, but we don't get any of
the eggs. And I'm going to petition the NFL to
give us our own division since we're already always in

(29:47):
last place. By October, I want them to make up
our own division called the AFC fourth, so we're guaranteed
to win the division for the first time.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Bob, that's a great call. He wants another division called
the AFC. Bob, I love the idea.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
Of the Browns. Can we can you hear me out?
Can we put the Jets in it too? And can
we put the Raiders in it?

Speaker 14 (30:10):
Like?

Speaker 1 (30:10):
We can round that thing out and really have like
a dummy division to see who.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Can win that. He said, we keep.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Feeding the golden goose, but we never get the eggs.
Bob sow that on a pillow on a Tuesday morning.
Bob's your clubhouse leader. Guys, you only got a couple
of calls left. Who can chase Bob down? My man,
Bobina House sixty one, It's like, don't be insulting me
like that.

Speaker 6 (30:30):
From sixty one, Let's go to my native state, the
state of Illinois, the land of Lincoln.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Where my guy Anthony wants to talk about the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Anthony thirty seconds let a rip baby, Yeah, hold loop man.

Speaker 13 (30:43):
First of all, a huge fan of the show, Senna Lebar,
I have a concern, kicker mans Man. That's the least concern.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
That I have, meg faking on past.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
You know, we got Robbie gold Led a couple of
years with us and them.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
The NFL and Clouds, Oh my cape.

Speaker 13 (31:02):
I prot talking about Caleb Williams and that team. He
cannot sum them right.

Speaker 15 (31:09):
No, eyes don't right.

Speaker 14 (31:11):
People to Brady.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Anthony, I like your passion. I like that Midwestern pride
you have. There was a kicker taken there in which
you're bemoaning Cairo Santos. I know you missed one of
the kicks in that game, Anthony, but.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
He made the game winner. Like that's a pretty big deal.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Today is the day you choose to call about Cairo Santos.
He's a really hugely important player and for their team
because all the Bearsgans are close, so Santos is massive.
But then he was fired up about Caleb, like we
all are huge game Anthony this week and against the Stevens.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
All right, we have one more call, one more call.
Let's go back to Ohio. This is my guy, Ali Ali.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
In Ohio wants to talk about the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
Ali, you're on the air letter.

Speaker 14 (31:52):
Rip Hi, Kyle, thanks for having me. I'm concerned about
bone Knicks because his Brett Farb guns from your mentality
could be a detchment to a strong defensive team like
the Denver Broncos if he steps up. The Broncos are
the heat and gym NFL, much like you are correct
the Sneaker. He is the hidden gym of the nineteen nineties.
Also like the hitting gym of the two thousands is

(32:12):
broken Windows of Films areing Larissa o'lennox, Alex Mack, Michael Gross,
mister Keith and ours truly a twenty nine year old
kids from Chicago, Kyle.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Brand OLLI, that's not the direction I thought that call
was going to go. Ali is referencing a small independent
movie that I did when I was an actor in
La and I started with Liverisa hollyan Neck, who's from
Ten Things.

Speaker 6 (32:30):
I Hate About You.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
There was ten things I liked about that call, Ali,
mostly the fact that you were very articulate, you had takes.
You referenced the smovie Sneakers with Robert Redford. Ali, you
really closed the show, although you were worried about Bo Nick.
Let's bring in my jolly friends here. It's the holiday
season in Inglewood, California.

Speaker 6 (32:47):
Ladies and gentlemen, or lady and gentlemen. What did you think?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Who was your favorite call? Call it out right now,
let's crown a winner.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
I think no doubt, my boy, that said Manu. Manu.

Speaker 9 (32:57):
He told Rogers to get his mind right castet up.

Speaker 6 (33:00):
This a good old lunch pail guy.

Speaker 9 (33:02):
You asked him to describe it in one word good good, good,
and it's not good unless you're playing get your mind.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
Right good solid That I was solid by Mark Mark
from Florida, Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Speaker 6 (33:12):
I got to go with.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
The next caller was Bob, who Kyle almost got his
age right. Bob sixty one from Ohio reference to Golden
Goose they never got the egg Cleveland Brown fan and
then represent a new division to AFC fourth. I thought,
you know, I mean, that was pretty brilliant, So I
gotta go with Bob.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
An official selection of the San Diego Film Festival winner
of Cinema City International.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
Five women and a few days that will.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Change their lives forever, Kyle Brand, I didn't know you
were in Broken Windows.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
The lineup on this cast.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
I need five teams whose lives will change forever.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
Maybe this weekend. That was such a poll.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Now I know a little bit more about Kyle's resume.
I also lastly appreciated Chuck and Anthony in the Midwest.
I could feel that wind whipping off the lake effect
in both Appleton and Illinois. So shout out to that
cell phone. Sometimes you got to muffle that wind, you know,
but it's cold there.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
They were cool.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
This is too old of them in a reference for
you guys, But I'm that movie broken with. They got
to hang out with Michael Gross, who is the Dad
and Family Ties and he's in the Tremors movies.

Speaker 6 (34:08):
I was so happy about it.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
I love Michael Gross, and I love Bob and Ohio.

Speaker 6 (34:12):
Bob came with you know what Bob did.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
He had an original take as a complaining Browns fan,
which is very, very.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
Difficult to do.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
It's kind of like they've already been said, Bob and Ohio,
you are a golden Goose and you get the end today, Bob.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
Finally a win for the Browns. Way to go, Bob.
We're cheering for you, We love you and guys.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Until next time, the phone lines are open, the microphone
is on, Come on in GMFBE Radio will be back
right after this.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
That was fun.

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
