Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Well, good morning Sunshine, Good Morning Football. Thanks for being
here with us on a Wednesday morning, Peter Schrager, Kyle Brand,
and Jason mccortey.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
I am sure you burs he are here with you
as it is schedule release day.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
Guys.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
It feels so good.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Finally we will know where all thirty two teams are playing,
when and where. There's this nice kind of buzz in
the air that it's not just talking season anymore.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Peter, we can finally know who, when and where.

Speaker 6 (00:52):
Yeah, we sure can.

Speaker 7 (00:53):
Hello, guys, this is us, This is.

Speaker 6 (00:55):
Good Morning Football. We're back.

Speaker 8 (00:57):
This is her best studio show daily. We won the Emmy,
and I think we're going to see some Emmy Award
for form today. As far as the social media accounts go,
I want to shout them out all the different thirty
two teams that are gonna have to put out really
cool different sizzle reels about the schedule. I am most
interested about who gets the Christmas Day games to which

(01:17):
four teams, maybe six teams, maybe two tho we don't
know how many games are gonna be on Christmas, which
network gets it or which streamer gets it. It's this
big mystery that's looming over today. We'll find out tonight,
Christmas Day, Wednesday Football. I'm here for it, and we'll
find out where and who and when those games will
be played.

Speaker 9 (01:34):
Shout out to the Tennessee tian who had the schedule
release video last year. That was absolutely fantastic and Shorey,
You're right, there is a buzz in the air. You
can always look to your kids to kill that buzz.
Yesterday I had a conversation with them and I explained
to them I wasn't gonna be able to drop them
off at school this morning because I was going back
on Good Morning Football.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
They're now getting ready for school.

Speaker 9 (01:54):
They saw me in the office and they're like, I
thought you were going back on the show.

Speaker 6 (01:57):
I'm like, I am, look, I'm doing it here.

Speaker 9 (01:59):
They then decided to call my show fugazy. It was
fake because I'm still at home and I'm doing when
you're from the office, So they have no respect for
our show right now because we're not in the studio.
I told him forget about them, get out of the
house and get to school. But we got to put
some respect on our name. I might kick them out
of the house later. Kyle, how's everything going, hopefully a
little bit better?

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I had a very similar conversation last night, Jason, and
I got to tell you, I thought that this time off,
you know, I'd help get the kids ready for school,
and I'll make breareakfast and it'll be Norman Rockwell. And
it's like Brooks, like, get out of my way.

Speaker 6 (02:32):
What are you doing here?

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Get out of my way, Get out of my kitchen,
get out of here. And I'm I'm sorry, I sorry.
I don't make the eggs the way you want them. Calbum,
why don't you get off your button?

Speaker 8 (02:41):
Do it?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You entitled little jerk. It's not been the same thing
that I thought it would be. But guys, I feel
like there's a game tonight. There's not a game for
like five months, but it feels like there is. I'm
finding myself like excited about like one of the Texans
gonna play the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
I can't wait.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
It's that type of day.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Nothing like a kid to humble you.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
But there is a lot to look forward to, particularly
starting with our lead number.

Speaker 9 (03:07):
Last hour, we announced all the international games for this
upcoming season. I was at those last two games in Germany.
Fantastic finishes right there.

Speaker 6 (03:16):
But look at what we have ahead. We already said it.

Speaker 9 (03:18):
The Eagles and the Packers taking off the first ever
game in Brazil, and there we're going to London for
a stretch three straight games right there, Jaguars hosting a
game back to back, the Bears and the Patriots. We
get the Jets and the Vikings in week five, starting
off London, and then we finish up in Munich. We're

(03:39):
going back to Munich for Germany, the Giants and the
Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
Cannot wait for it.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
First game ever in Brazil for the NFL. That one
is going to be spectacular. Remember Cairo Santos was on
saying maybe the NFL isn't ready for Brazil. That's going
to be really awesome. But as we look ahead, we
do know there, Jay, as you had at the International Games.
Let's look ahead to the schedule release for the full season.
Two teams will be revealing who they're playing, when and where.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
But I want to start with you, Peter.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
As we look at this, we're also not going to
include the Super Bowl teams when it comes to primetime matchups.
But of all the other teams, who do you think
will have the most primetime games this season?

Speaker 6 (04:20):
Well, you know, it's interesting.

Speaker 8 (04:21):
I think the Lions, the Ravens of course, those types
of teams that you know we're right there at the CUSP,
they're going to get those primetime games. But I gotta
think the NFL is going to go all in on
the Chicago Bears this year. That is a huge market
and there has not been excitement in that city. I
would think since when Kyle you would help since late eighties, Like,

(04:42):
this is real and it's not the last year where
so Justin Field's finished the season, Well, this is not
only the number one overall pick and a guy who's
been compared to Mahomes. But you're adding Keenan Allen, You're
adding Roma Dunz, You're adding all these different players on defense,
and all the guys who stepped up last year during

(05:02):
the second half of the season, all those young players,
they're not going into their second seasons and they're going
to I think the Icago Bears are young, one electric
and oh yeah, they're.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
In the second city.

Speaker 8 (05:16):
They're in Chicago, a market that matters. The NFL put
the Bears on primetime five times last year, and they
were a great disappointment in many of those games. I
don't think they shy away. I wouldn't be shocked if
the Bears are on primetime four or five, maybe even
six times this year. And you know what, sitting here
in May, looking at Caleb Williams highlights, I would be

(05:37):
fine with that, And I don't think it's one of
those things where like they earned their primetime game. Give
me the most exciting teams. The Bears simply are one
of them right now.

Speaker 9 (05:45):
And they're a team that we want to see. You
talked about all those additions on offense. They finished the
season last year on defense a red hot. They're gonna
be so much fun to watch this year. Can't wait
to see how many times we get them in prime time.
As I'm looking at it, and you mentioned some of
the teams, the Bengals are being in a raven some
of those teams that we know we expect.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
Them to be really good. I kind of want to
check in on a team.

Speaker 9 (06:06):
I want to see the Philadelphia Eagles in prime time
as much as possible.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
We saw them last year.

Speaker 9 (06:12):
They were unraveling towards the end of the season after
starting ten to one, and it's like that relative you have,
like Uncle Unk.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
You never know how he's doing, but.

Speaker 9 (06:20):
If you haven't heard from him for a while, you're like,
you know what, let me go check in and see
how Unk's doing. And you know it's gonna be an
all reaction no matter what, and it's going to be.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
A surprise, like, man, Unk's doing really well.

Speaker 9 (06:31):
We got to have him over for thanksgiven next year
or as to here, Unk.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
Goes again with the same old story.

Speaker 9 (06:39):
I want to see which version of the Philadelphia Eagles
are we getting.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
Nick Sirianni, that head coach. He remained.

Speaker 9 (06:45):
We know he met with Howie Rolsman, Jeff Lurry and
all of those guys. At the end of the season,
they decided to keep him. He went out and got
himself a new offensive coordinator, and Kellen Moore brought back
Vic Fangio, who he's had a relationship and work with
in the Super Bowl when they played against the Chiefs
as the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
So it's gonna be some new face.

Speaker 9 (07:04):
Is going on running the team from the office and
defensive standpoint.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
They also brought in a guy named Sa Kwon Barkley.

Speaker 9 (07:11):
Now, I live in the North Jersey area and I
see Giants fans every single day. And I was in
Dick's Boarding Good the other day and the one thing
a Giants fan said to me was, I just hope
Sa Kwon Barkley doesn't go to Philly and have this
fantastic year.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
And we kept.

Speaker 9 (07:26):
Daniel Jones and paid him all of that money, and
now say Kwon what a better offensive line is gonna
go off and he's gonna terrorize us for the next
however many years to come. I can't wait to see
this team on prime time as much as possible. And
it doesn't matter which way is going, as it's sparkling
up in the right direction or just like they're still
falling apart.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
I'm here for it and I want to see it. Kyle,
who you looking forward to seeing most?

Speaker 7 (07:50):
Well?

Speaker 1 (07:50):
First of all, sometimes i'm's not doing that well, Jason.
Sometimes Unk shows up to the barbecue, like and he
rides his bike there, and you're like, why'd you ride
your bike? Now? I just like the air you shouldn't
listen driver's licens on because you're was like twenty miles away,
and I don't know. I'm worried about the uncle. Sometimes
you do have to do a check in on him.

(08:11):
But I to a totally different direction and I'm gonna
I'm gonna shoot one from the hip right here. The
WNBA is having a massive season right now. It just
started very very important, and it was it was like
twenty five twenty eight years ago when I remember Cheryl
Swoops and Lisa Leslie and Becca Lobo announcing we got Next,
and it was this iconic campaign. We got next, We

(08:31):
got Next. I think the team that has next is
the Houston Texans, and.

Speaker 7 (08:35):
I think they're gonna go big.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
I love in a second year of Stroud, second year
of pretty much everything. There's nothing more exciting than getting
a team on the way up the year that they
really blow up. If last year was like the introduction
to the Texans experience, you don't want.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
To miss out.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
If CJ's job becomes a top eight quarterback this year
or top five quarterback, if he becomes mahomes two point zero,
you don't want to miss that. Having him buried at
one PM and playing in Houston. Guys, their opponents, they
played the Chiefs, they played the Bills, they play the Ravens.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
They played the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I think we're going to get Texans Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
I don't know that, but it seems pretty cool to
have an all Texas Thanksgiving Gay Day Gay Thanksgiving.

Speaker 7 (09:19):
Day game in Texas.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
So I'm thinking it's Houston. I know there's other teams
that maybe have proven a little bit more, a little
bit longer.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
Have more proven starters.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
I don't really care. I think the Texans have next,
and I want the schedule to reflect that.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
I like that choice.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
I did go with one of the more expected teams,
Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
They have the best.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Record in primetime over the last two seasons, so at
least if you're a Baltimore fan, you know you're going
to be getting some good football. But when you think
about the addition of Derek Henry, the king in the backfield,
you already compliment Lamar Jackson coming off his second MVP year.
He's only twenty seven years old. As I think you
mentioned Jason last hour, he said he's lost ten pounds

(10:01):
this offseason. I think I gained ten pounds this off season.
It's incredible what he's able to do. This offense is
going to be spectacular. And oh yeah, Zay Flowers is
going to be in only his second season with the Ravens,
so that compliment is going to be spectacular. And then yes,
they did lose McDonald to Seattle, their old defensive coordinator,

(10:21):
but they still have a lot of those key pieces,
one of them being gro Kwan Smith, the heartbeat of
that defense. They let the league in sacks, so I'm
not expecting a huge drop off on the defense.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Give me Ravens, give me Baltimore. I want crabcakes.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
I want primetime football in the charm City.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Good morning football.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
THEFC North is amazing, entire AFC is amazing, especially the
AFC East guys. And I bring it up because we're
getting to do a very important part of the show
right now, or should I say a very important part
of the snow from Temple University and Roadway High School
in New Jersey.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
The snaven.

Speaker 10 (11:16):
On who.

Speaker 7 (11:21):
Is good morning, good morning, good morning. What an entrance man.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
We love seeing you deserve that kind of intro. So
Dion schedule comes out today. What is when it comes
out and you see it on your phone or it's
posted in the facility, whatever, what is the first thing
that you look at each year as the schedule comes out.

Speaker 7 (11:42):
First thing is Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Speaker 10 (11:45):
I want to know where I'm going to be for
Christmas and where I'm going to be for Thanksgiving every year.

Speaker 7 (11:49):
That's the biggest thing.

Speaker 10 (11:50):
But besides that, you know Hall of Fame game, But
Christmas and Thanksgiving is where I immediately.

Speaker 7 (11:57):
Like go to because those are Pinnacle times and the season.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
You've played on Buffalo thanks Buffalo's played multiple times, you
played at Theian's couple of years, going to be played
against the Cowboys when Josh Allen with absolutely nuts. Do
you like playing on Thanksgiving or are you root against
it so you can just be on the couch with
your family.

Speaker 7 (12:12):
I would hate to lie. I enjoy primetime games.

Speaker 10 (12:19):
I enjoy like primetime games because I enjoy being in
front of the world showing our best ball.

Speaker 7 (12:26):
And when Josh Allen and our guys are.

Speaker 10 (12:29):
In front of the TV and in front of the
broadcast and doing their thing, we know all the eyes
are watching.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Usually like something special like happens.

Speaker 10 (12:37):
And I'm not to say that we're better when we're
in the lights and not, but it's just cool, like
when we know that the entire world is watching because
we've worked the whole life to do this, and now
we know that there's only a couple of games on
one day.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
Cool, let us be be it well.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
When those lights are shining the brightest, whether it is
that primetime game or a regular Sunday, we will be
noticing some changes on the offense for the season, notably
Stefon Diggs now moving over the Texans, but still got
a gunslinger there in your quarterback, Josh Allen, look at
this offense this season, Just what are your expectations.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Well, my expectations are high. Every year. You know, I'm
getting older.

Speaker 10 (13:16):
I'm in year eight now, and every year you start
to see, like, all right, there's a pattern that goes on.
There's a there's a routine that is every single year,
guys come in, new positions are filled, new coaches are here,
new injuries, new this k new that new start day,
new everything goes But, uh, we got some good guys,

(13:37):
and uh, of course I have to talk about Keon.
You know Keon, he's he's one of our first pickups. Uh,
he's basically my first round draft pick. I'm happy to
have him, happy for him.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
To be here.

Speaker 7 (13:50):
His personality is great.

Speaker 10 (13:53):
And I think that with a guy like that and
what Josh is doing and how we all surround each other,
I think that it'll be a good, you know, blossom
of that kid. And I think that he is going
to help our offense as well as everyone else that
we have already. You know, Cook is still cooked, we
still got Kinkid. We have a good team. And you know,

(14:16):
everybody's like, oh, Diggs left and all this stuff. I mean,
like Diggs is one of the best players that I've
ever played with, and Diggs is going to do in
great things. But the bills, you know, like the chapter
has closed, so onto not the next, but on to
the next.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
That's that The business is a business, Snowman.

Speaker 9 (14:34):
What I love is you looked at the Thanksgiving game,
Christmas game. The first thing I looked at was the
bye week when I was playing. I want to know
when the hell I have four days off to get
away from the facility. But it's always honored to talk
to a Jersey.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
Legend in here.

Speaker 9 (14:47):
I have to ask you, whenever the schedule comes out,
we always look at the division games because that's where
the rivalry kind of lize. The Patriots have kind of
the they're still rebuilding you guys know what the Dolphins
or robbery has been created. The New York Jets, on
the other hand, there was some off season chatter from
yourself and some members of the New York I need
to know you, good morning football. What is it that

(15:07):
you hate about I won't say he hate you dislike
strong about this New York Jets organization.

Speaker 10 (15:14):
Here we go, all right, the Jets, Okay, the Jets.
I respect players. I respect people that play the game
the right way. I respect people that play it with
the passion. Right, there's a lot of people on the
Jets that play with the passion. There's good players, but
you know, like when they're there's one person that kind

(15:36):
of does one thing, it just turns the whole channel,
like it turns the whole thing. So you know, like
there's just a couple of players that like when you
get on the football field.

Speaker 7 (15:46):
Of course, I love chatter talk. That's a part of
the game.

Speaker 10 (15:50):
But when you're saying like overly disrespectful things and you're
talking to players like seventeen that is probably the best
quarterback in the NFL. If he's the best quarterback in
the NFL, and you're saying things to him like it's
just like like what do you, like are you seriously talking?
Like are we even talking for real? Like well, like

(16:11):
you're rushing against us to try to get you can't
get there, and we're talking.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
About why are you talking to us? Like why are
you doing that to us?

Speaker 10 (16:18):
And then like you're chasing guys in the tunnel like
it's fake, Like that's fake, bro, Like look, we ain't
no gangsters.

Speaker 7 (16:24):
We ain't this.

Speaker 10 (16:25):
We're football players, bro, Like, we're football players, right, Like,
let's stop with all of this shenanigans and all this stuff.
We're football players, all right. If you want to be
a football player, be a football player, if you want
to be that, turning your jersey, your helmet, your solder
pads and go and be and be that simple as that.
And every year it's just that with the Jets. But
I hate that I have to put them all in

(16:47):
one basket because there is some some good apples over there,
like like there's a couple of guys that they're just cool.
But hey, man, like we ain't friends, dog like simple
as that, we don't call each other. We're not like yo,
what you doing? Like I'm in Miami, Like, yo, what's no,
it's none of that? So it is and what it is?
It's Bills against the world man and let's go. It'll

(17:09):
be killed and I'm rocking within?

Speaker 7 (17:14):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (17:15):
Is that? Like? From?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Is that from the head coach? Is it because they
played in New York City? And or is it just
a rival Like? Why do you think that they roll
that way?

Speaker 6 (17:22):
In your opinion?

Speaker 10 (17:23):
Well, people are natural born haters, you know, like people
are naturally born like this, So I think, uh, of
course the rivalry puts some type of tension there. But
when it comes down to it, like some people just
can't help it. Those guys know who they are and
the truth always shows.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
So all that.

Speaker 10 (17:42):
Fake tough guy stuff is only It's only matter time
and before that thumb gets pressed right on you know.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
I hear you, dude, And I can't wait till we
play this clip back before Jeff bill a Shi It's
gonna be fantastic. Snowman and the dead Man Dean. You
were at WrestleMania forty in Philadelphia. You met the Taker,
you met the let's.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
All about okay, look, Undertaker is super cool.

Speaker 10 (18:10):
Wrestle Madia and me and my brother watched wrestling our
entire life.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
This is a moment for me and my brother Undertaker.

Speaker 10 (18:16):
You know, I used my relationship with my agency to
connect us and we connected, and me and my brother,
we would love to be in the WWE in one
day because we've always dreamed my and my brother that's
standing next to Undertaker. He's just as good as an
athlete as me, maybe even better. And you know, Undertaker,

(18:37):
he's one of our home heroes in our household. So
Undertaker was one of those moments that it was just
like wow, Bro, we just met the Undertaker and one day,
hopefully we'll be on that stage. If he's walking out
with a cane and we're wrestling, it doesn't.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
Matter, but we would love to do it.

Speaker 10 (18:54):
He's one of the greats, just like Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy,
all these guys man like they are super lit bro.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
So Undertaker is one of those ones. He's one of
those ones. Man, how are you?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
And this guy's going to try to give the tombstone
pile drivers to the entire AFC this year. Eon Dawkins,
the Snowman, the Legend.

Speaker 10 (19:11):
We love you man, thank you so much, Good luck,
Love bro appreciate it.

Speaker 11 (19:14):
Oh man, here you go to well in the bullets
and board material already because the full reveal of the
entire schedule is coming your way tonight at eight pm.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
One of the highlights of this offseason.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
You can see where your team will be playing and
just makes the season feel so much closer. The schedule release,
presented by Verizon, is tonight at eight pm Eastern on
NFL Network.

Speaker 9 (19:39):
All Right, we just heard from the Snowman and we're
talking Miami Dolphins Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
That's going to be the first Amazon Prime game.

Speaker 9 (19:45):
We're going to hear from somebody that's going to be
in attendance, Kaylee harton for Prime.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
She's joining our show. We have all the questions for
her about the schedule release.

Speaker 9 (19:54):
And being a broadcaster on the scene. Can't wait for Kaylee.

Speaker 12 (20:09):
Good morning.

Speaker 8 (20:12):
Our next guest is a great friend of the show.
You've seen her on the Amazon Sidelines the last few seasons.
You've seen her on NFL Network at the Draft. You've
seen her on the Today Show.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
Recently.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
I saw you with with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt
in a stunt car. I was like, all right, Kaylee,
I was impressed.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
That might have been the best shoot of my life.
No anybody else I've ever interviewed, but Ryan Gosling and
Emily Blunt that that's gonna be tough to be pretty cool.

Speaker 8 (20:38):
You're here on schedule release day, Kaylee Hartung, we love
you on the show. And yesterday it was announced with
the Amazon upfronts that the Week two matchup will be
Bill's versus Dolphins. Remember they finished the season playing against
each other, then of course have this great rivalry against
each other Bill's Dolphins. What was your reaction when you
saw that that is the Amazon Prime kickoff game, that we.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Are starting our season joining the party in Week two
with a musty game. I mean, come on, you just
mentioned it. That's how they ended last year's regular season,
a disappointing finish for the Dolphins, the Bills getting that
AFC East title, and then that meant the Dolphins ended
up in Kansas City for their wild card game where

(21:21):
we all froze our tail off tails off anybody who
was there for sure. So I'm excited to get a
trip to Miami some warmer weather for coverage of them.
But yeah, I think that it's It's just awesome to
see a game right out the gate for our Thursday
night schedule that you know people are going to want
to watch. I think we've gotten a lot of black
for a schedule that that people say is lackluster to

(21:43):
some degree, certainly more in the first year than in
the second. But this one, like, you just can't argue
this is a killer way to start off the season.
And I can't wait to interview Keon Coleman, like Deon
Dawkins even just talking about what a character he is,
Like that's where my head goes when I see a
game like those on the schedule. So we are looking
forward to the season ahead.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
And Kaylee, I want to give a shit out to
the sideline reporters there, girl, because you are working. You're
the only one down there on the sideline to have
this unique perspective. What is the most intriguing storyline or
lines that you're looking forward to when you look ahead
to this next year.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Oh, I think for this season as a whole. Maybe
it's because I'm still on the high of getting to
be a part of Draft Night, which was such a
cool thing to get to do and talk to those
guys as they were chosen in the first round up
on stage in Detroit. But I mean these rookies, like
you guys were just talking about it is Kayleb Williams
ready for the bright lights? What does Jade and Daniels

(22:37):
do in Washington? I think that this rookie class, for
all of the attention that has just been put on
them as they've had their team select them, what does
that translate to, Especially when we're coming off a season
where CJ. Strout had such an impact right out of
the gate, right, I think that for me, it's all
about these rookies and what they can do. You know.

(22:58):
I mean our first season at TNF, I mean we
had two Texans games on our schedule including the preseason,
and then ye'r two, we didn't have one year three, Like, please,
let's get the Texan onment's schedule, right, because you see
what a difference the season can make and the way
that a guy, even in his first year can change
what a team's product looks like. So it looks like

(23:19):
on the field. So yeah, let's get the rookies in
action and follow this incredible next step in their journeys.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Kayley, the rookies path started in Detroit. I got to
see you there. We got to see two hundred and
seventy five thousand people show out for the draft. I
felt like there was a real sense of pride on
behalf of Detroit and this this was really their moment.
Maybe they're not New York City or Los Angeles, Chicago,
but this was their moment and they completely crushed it.
You were in the crowd on the stage all around.
What was your favorite part or maybe your favorite memory

(23:49):
of the Detroit Draft.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Terry and Arnold, hands down, that was my favorite moment.
I mean, I learned a long time ago never give
up the mic when you're doing an interview. And I
tell you I I've never been so willing in that
moment the Lions making their pick, you know the crowd's
going to go wild. It's Terry and Arnold. He's one

(24:12):
of the last guys left in the green room. And
I knew what a personality he had just from doing
my prep and watching interviews that he'd done. I was like,
this is a perfect fit for so many reasons, not
to mention the player that he is. But when we
walked out on that stage, I said to him, you know,
introduce yourself to the city of Detroit, and I didn't
anticipate him taking the microphone, but when he did, it

(24:35):
spun around and spoke right to the crowd. I mean,
we're all in the TV business, right You're looking for
those moments that you can't manufacture, and that was one
of them. It was so genuine. The crowd, all nearly
three hundred thousand of them, were going absolutely wild, and
he was the perfect guy for that moment, and I
just felt really lucky to be a part of it.

(24:56):
But man, Detroit is really building a special place in
my heart.

Speaker 6 (24:59):
I got to.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Work the divisional there with NBC and to get to
see the excitement that's surrounding the Lions team there. I
never I don't think I've ever worked a game in
a stadium where the crowd was so dominantly one team.
I mean, God bless the Buccaneers fans who made the
trip to Detroit, but there might have been five of

(25:20):
them in that stadium. So I just I think the
timing was right for the draft to be in Detroit.
But that place has all the love and passion and
excitement that we all appreciate fans having for this game
that we all love so much.

Speaker 8 (25:33):
Such a cool deal, such a cool time for Detroit.
We'll see how many primetime games, how many TNF games
they get. Kaylee Hart, We've never been to Detroit.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
T and F has never gotten to go to Detroit,
So I really hope that I'll be looking for Yeah, I'm.

Speaker 8 (25:45):
Sure al Michaels. Sure, al Michaels is dying to get
to Detroit. I just know Al and that's the first
spot he wants to be. On that note, we will
see how many primetime games they get.

Speaker 6 (25:56):
Where you guys will be And Kaylee, you were awesome
on the draft.

Speaker 8 (25:59):
Thanks so much for joining our show this morning on
a very special Good Morning football.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Oh it's Christmas Day, guys, glad to be with you.

Speaker 9 (26:05):
You know, while we're here, it's Wednesday, it is scheduled
release day.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
And we have a special guest.

Speaker 9 (26:10):
One of the people has a hand and bringing that
schedule to you guys, coming up with it. And this
is a Charlotte Carey, the senior broadcast manager for the NFL. Charlotte,
thank you for waking up. We know you're probably not getting.

Speaker 6 (26:22):
Much sleep these days, so thank you for being with
us this morning.

Speaker 13 (26:25):
Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Guys.

Speaker 13 (26:26):
It's an exciting day.

Speaker 9 (26:28):
It's always awesome to see you this time and the year,
and everybody sees the schedule come out this evening and
they're all looking to see where their favorite teams playing,
who's playing on this day? When do you guys start
planning for the schedule. How many variations of it are there?
How do you guys finally land on the finished product
that we'll see this evening when it's all revealed.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
Yeah, great question, Jason. I mean, it's honestly a little
bit like groundhog Day. We talk about this year after
your wake up, look through everything that we got from
the night before, the good, the bad, the ugly, write
new rules to bid them again and see what we
get the next day.

Speaker 12 (26:59):
This year, we looked at thousands.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Of variations, as we generally do, but it was like
we had more schedules than ever down the stretch.

Speaker 13 (27:06):
We generally have what we call the leader in the clubhouse.

Speaker 12 (27:09):
We had our leader, you know, pretty pretty early on
and kept trying to beat it day after day after.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Day and really did have new leaders almost daily down
and stretch there. And the final schedule was honestly the
last schedule we looked at, So you know, process worked.
Everyone got there that mythical, magical perfect schedule.

Speaker 13 (27:28):
We think we found it this year.

Speaker 8 (27:29):
There's so many different mouths to feed. You've got the
teams who obviously have requests, You've got the networks who
obviously have requests, and then you've got the league itself
that wants to promote the best games possible. How do
you balance it all?

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Shaw?

Speaker 8 (27:42):
And then at the end of the day, will there
be teams that'll get their schedule from you guys today
and say, hey, what the heck we got done dirty?

Speaker 13 (27:51):
It's a good question.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
I mean, honestly, I do think that you know everyone,
every coach you could ask. We say this again a
year after year. You can ask all the coaches you know,
what's the worst thing we can possibly do, and you're
gonna get thirty.

Speaker 13 (28:03):
Two different answers.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
So I do think that we try to make sure
that we have a fair schedule for everybody from a
TV perspective, making sure we're putting the best matchups in
the best spots for our fans.

Speaker 13 (28:13):
Making sure that the teams you know we are, we.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Are making sure that it's not too much pain on
any particular team, and trying to come up with the
best overall mix.

Speaker 13 (28:22):
I think that, you know, again, you could you can
hand a team a schedule and it could be.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
What we think is perfect, and they make them up
with something that they find, you know, not to be
exactly what they were hoping for.

Speaker 13 (28:32):
You're going to get that year after year.

Speaker 5 (28:34):
But overall, we think that this is a pretty fair
good schedule with great TV and a good structure.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
So, Charlotte, the term is is glow up where someone
immediately becomes much more attractive and as kind of a
make over for I look at the Bears and you
go into the draft, they have the number one pick.
You think they're going to get a quarterback. They do,
it's this usc guy. I was really exciting, and then
they get a wide receiver right after that. How does
something like that affect how you view the watchability of

(29:03):
the teams, the demand for the teams, because also the
Bears did big things in free agency, So how does
that affect what you do?

Speaker 13 (29:09):
Yeah, it's a you know, it's a good question.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
I think that draft and free agency both play a
huge part in this entire process. Right we you know,
we know kind of half the puzzle as we lock
ourselves in this room and have to wait and see
what ends up shaking out through free agency.

Speaker 13 (29:22):
And then of course draft.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
You know, through that free agency period over the last
few years you've had moves like Brady to Tampa, Rogers,
the Jets, and this year Kirk Cousins to Atlanta.

Speaker 13 (29:31):
So it definitely plays a role.

Speaker 12 (29:33):
As for draft, this is an exciting rookie class. You know.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
I'm sure you remember not too long ago, the schedule
came out prior to the draft and we couldn't capture
what actually happened during the draft and make pages to
this final schedule.

Speaker 13 (29:46):
Shifting it back a couple of weeks, we've.

Speaker 12 (29:48):
Been able to really factor in the draft.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
Picks, which is a big deal for us, whether in
actual prime time games and moving things around, or if
we're using teams more on Sunday afternoon and we look
at a weekly Sunday afternoon map.

Speaker 13 (29:59):
And say, actually, that could be our high coverage game here.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
You know, a Chicago game could be really interesting and
cover most the country.

Speaker 13 (30:05):
So the Bears are a great.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
Example, and you'll find out a little bit more tonight
how we use them.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
As we wait for the full schedule.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
We do know that the Chiefs starting off the season Thursday,
September fifth, on NBC against the Ravens. Kansas City has
some pretty juicy mashchups just across the board. Also, the
Bengals game also looking very appealing. But Charlotte, can you
tell us why you thought Chiefs Ravens was the way
to kick off the season.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
Yeah, you know, Casey had a lot of great opponents
this year, and we honestly let this one float a
little bit and let the computer.

Speaker 13 (30:37):
Come back with different looks.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
We definitely looked at games like Cincinnati and Houston divisional
games and we got pretty comfortable with most of them,
but really liked the way that this laid out, you know,
starting the season with two of the most exciting teams
and quarterbacks and the rematch DFC championship game just really
felt like the right way to start the year.

Speaker 8 (30:55):
Charlotte, this is the first time we're going to have
Wednesday football. It sounds like Christmas Day and I everyone's
saying there's two games, but I haven't seen it anywhere
from the league that there's one game, two game, three games?
Are there four games? I have no idea because it
hasn't come from the league. We don't know where these
games are being broadcasted. Would you say that the Christmas
Day game and which network or streamer is broadcasting them?

(31:18):
How many games there will be? Is why we pushed
the schedule back a week. Is there any info on
the Christmas Day games that we can share here on
Good Morning Football?

Speaker 13 (31:26):
Ooh, Peter's that's a good one.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
I can tell you that.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
The schedule team will take every ounce of time that
you'll give us, and we will use it to keep
on iterating that Groundhog Day keeps going on. And we
found the schedule as the last possible schedule we looked
at on Sunday.

Speaker 12 (31:42):
Night here, so I can tell you that we took the.

Speaker 13 (31:44):
Extra time and loved it.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
But the actual Christmas side of things, we're gonna have
to wait until tonight and see where things shake out.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
Okay, I love that.

Speaker 9 (31:53):
Charlotte, that's the director of broadcasting know exactly how to answer.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
Like that from either one and only Peter Schuger.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
My question will be a lot easier. We unveiled the
Internet games. Who's going who's playing there? I want to
know when you guys get to do these games, how
do you guys decide which teams are going international because
so many wives are so happy telling their husbands like,
that's your favorite team, right, Okay, let's.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
Go watch them in London.

Speaker 9 (32:17):
And do you have teams lobbying to get a chance
to play overseas?

Speaker 5 (32:21):
Yeah, you know, all teams that play nationally at some point,
and certain teams definitely have opinions on where they'd like
to go and things that we'd like to they'd like
to see. But the way it works is there are
designated teams company the league every year and they give
up a game at their stadium and play at internationally.

Speaker 10 (32:38):
You know.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
The one exception to this is the Jaguars, who the
last couple of years have played actually two in London.
One is the road team and run one as a
designated team. But in terms of opponent, the designated teams
can protect one home opponent every year from being played internationally,
and we generally don't play division games.

Speaker 13 (32:55):
Other than that, everything.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Can really float and we see a lot of different
looks and some really fun matchups. You know, they're definitely
matchups for some of the team. These teams that we
earmark for different areas of the schedule, so we sometimes
take those out of the mix, but otherwise we really
just let the computer show us as many different iterations
as we can find and look for the best possible
matchups for both international games and also over the course.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Of the schedule.

Speaker 6 (33:18):
Charlie, thank you for waking up.

Speaker 9 (33:20):
We know it's probably been a crazy last several weeks months,
and we know you're a mom, so there's a lot
going on at home as well. Take some time off,
go relax. You guys have done an awesome job. I'm
anticipating tonight is going to be fantastic, so thank you
for coming about this morning.

Speaker 13 (33:35):
Thank you guys. Enjoy.

Speaker 14 (33:38):
First of all, I think it's incredible that the release
of the schedule it generates the kind of excite me.
You know what I'm talking about. It is unbelievable, Like
what a privilege to play in a sport where my
high school friends are like refreshing their computer every second
to try to see what the schedule is. I'm like,
I think I've been a good line of work if
that's the demand for this sport. So kudos to the
NFL on that.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Thank you, Thank you for their cousins.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
I love it as high school friends are so intense
to actually check the schedule their shooter, not their phone.
They have the laptop open to peter your thoughts.

Speaker 7 (34:09):
I love it. I share it with Kirk.

Speaker 8 (34:10):
I actually feel like this year, as we record this
in the morning, like there haven't been that many leaks.
We've been announced, but there haven't been leaks. So we
still don't know the Thanksgiving games.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
We still don't know.

Speaker 8 (34:18):
NBC Sunday Night game the first week, and we still
don't know what's going on with this Christmas. Charlotte Carey
from the scheduling group, seemed a little queasy when I
asked about Christmas.

Speaker 6 (34:26):
Is it going to be on Netflix? Going to be
on Amazon?

Speaker 7 (34:27):
We'll find out tonight. No one knows the answers.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
Jason, are you looking forward to it?

Speaker 9 (34:31):
I'm just here to see all the who all the broadcasting.

Speaker 6 (34:33):
Teams are going to be. Which games is number one?

Speaker 9 (34:36):
CBS, Romo and NaN's gonna get NBC? Who's going to
get those games? I'm here just for the broadcasting teams.

Speaker 6 (34:41):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
I can't wait for actual football. I'm gonna start looking
at my schedules. Penciling in the calendar is going to
be great. It's been great being with you Thanks here
for good morning football.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
