Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Well, of course we are well on our way to
the Super Bowl, right, but before we get to New Orleans,
the NFL community always makes a stop at the Senior
Bowl in Mobile, and what's become an annual tradition here
at NFL Network, we get to have the Move the
Sticks recent Senior Bowl roster reveal show. We're excited to
kick that off here for you today. I am Bred
(00:28):
Lewis here of course with the stars of this show,
our former NFL scouts, Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks. And it
is our great pleasure once again to welcome the executive
director of the recent Senior Bowl, Jim Naggy back here
with us.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Fellas.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Great to be here with you guys. I mean, this
really kicks off draft season as we get to know
these players that will be coming down to Mobile. And
for you, Jim, I know a point of pride to
kind of see all these names really come together after
a year's or a year's worth of calendar year's worth
of work to get all this settled in Man, you
most excited about.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, A lot of hard work by a lot of
people read. Our staff did a great job this year.
I think the thing I'm most excited about is the
buy in that we got from the junior class this year.
You know, last year, the league didn't announce that juniors
could be eligible until early November, and we just didn't
didn't get the traction with those guys last year quite
as much. You know, we had the ten first round
picks last year, all of them were seniors. So to
(01:23):
get guys, you know, if we just stay at the
defensive line position, to get guys like Walter Nolan and
Ole Miss and Dane Walker from Kentucky and Shamar Stewart
and Nick Scarton from Texas A and M just really
really good buying from the junior class, and obviously that
helps out the entire roster.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, no question, and just a quick thought DJ Bucky
from you guys here on what that means for you
guys from a scouting perspective here moving forward.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, Buck, I think it's it's already been the best
week of the season, and now that we have more
of these juniors incorporated, it's just more good on good.
It's one on ones. It's what we love about scouting.
It's why it's one of our favorite weeks. Yeah, so
now standing weeks the gout standing opportunity.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
You haven't played into Senior Bowl back in nineteen ninety four,
understand the pressure and the opportunity that comes with playing
in the game. To see more players, more top players,
being able to compete against one another.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
It is everything that you look for as and evaluate
Bucky Brooks turning that Senior Bowl into a second round
pick by the Buffalos right there. I love having our
Senior Bowl alum back with us. All right, let's get
into what the week is going to look like down
in Mobile. Can't wait to get down there this year
with our crew. We have a jam packed week for you,
as we always do. January twenty eighth through the thirtieth,
(02:36):
the meat of the practice week. You're going to see
it all right here on NFL Network and streaming on
NFL Plus, starting at three PM with the National team practice.
That'll be followed immediately by the American team practice at five.
The insiders will give us all that they've gathered throughout
the day at seven, and then you get the Senior
Bowl Recap show at eight p m.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Eastern Time.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Thursdays Recap Show will come after our airing of the
Shrine Ball and then when we get to Gain Day
about kickoff, Gain NFL Game Day Kickoff gets your rolling
at two pm. Set the stage four. What we're going
to see at two thirty Eastern time the seventy sixth
Reese's Senior Bowl with the National team versus the American team.
And without further ado, let's get to the roster reveal.
(03:20):
We'll start with the quarterbacks. Jackson Dart headlining another group
of highly talented signal callers descending on Mobile. Once again,
Dark transferred into Ole miss and has left his mark
on the record books in Oxford, passing Eli Manning to
become the schools passing yardage and total yardage career leader
and just through four touchdowns in the revs. Gator Bowl
win over Duke and it's our great pleasure. Du welcome
(03:43):
Jackson Dart right here to the recent Senior Bowl roster
reveal show. Jackson, thanks so much for being a part
of the show here today. Congrats some getting the invite
and getting this opportunity to go down to Mobile and
showcase your skills. Man, Hey, look, you know you've talked
a lot about the special relationship that you formed with
Lane kiff and you talked about him how he's not
(04:03):
just a coach that you you know, admired and or
inspired by, but one of your best friends too. Can
you give us a little bit more detail into what
Lane Kiffen has meant for your career as you move
forward to this next level.
Speaker 6 (04:15):
Yeah, obviously, you know, I've me and Coach kiff have
just grown our relationship from the minute that I got
there and having three years with him, you know, obviously
we've just formed like a super special bond from a
head coach to a quarterback. And I think that you know,
stems all the way from being on the field to
just you know, compete and pick a ball game against
each other. But yeah, he's been great for me, great
(04:36):
for my development and really excited for the future, Evince.
Speaker 7 (04:41):
And super grateful for him, Jackson.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
I appreciate you taking time away from your your throwing
workouts down there at Orange County to join the show.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
Obviously, Ole miss Man.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
There's a ton of scout traffic through Oxford in the fall,
but the difference cinemobile is there's going to be all
the guys making the picks. In April down here, the
head coach is the GM. So what do you want
to prove to those guys that maybe haven't seen you yet.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Yeah, I'm really just excited to get the opportunity to compete.
You know, there's a lot of great players there, and uh,
you know, I feel very confident in myself and how
I stack up against everybody, and you know, I'm just
really looking forward to the opportunity for everybody to see
you know what I'm about, you know, from a leadership
standpoint to how I play the game, how the ball comes.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
Off my hand.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
You've been working hard out here in California and just
the little things that I need to improve on, and
really just excited to put it fully on.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
Display, you knows, Jackson.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
I want to go back to your time at Ole
Miss and the relationship with Plane Kiff, and you talked
about how special he is to you. Well, what are
some of the things that you've learned from him that
can directly help you play well this week when it's
really a big opportunity for you to show improve in
front of NFL scouts.
Speaker 8 (05:48):
Yeah. I think people kind of underestimate.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
I think there's like a weird stigma around you know,
all this quarterbacks, you know, just not being you know,
super smart, having a lot of you.
Speaker 9 (05:59):
Know, experience playing in different you know, systems and whatnot.
And I think the coach getting has done a great
job and implementing so many different schemes into his offense.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
You know, I feel like I've kind of done it all,
and you know.
Speaker 9 (06:11):
I'm really excited to just you know, show the development
and the girl that he's really you know, pushed me into.
And you know, I think I'm a really smart football
player and you know, I can draw it up. I
can do whatever you need.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
So I'm really just excited to show my knowledge.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
And it's of all the things that I've been.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Taught Jackson, You've had a lot of experience to start
a lot of games, over thirteen hundred pass attempts. There's
a lot of great moments that come with that. But
one of the things we've learned over the years and
doing this is that, you know, the guys that are
successful at the next level, they've had adversity, but they
found a way to handle it and learn from it
and move on. What what would you say is the
biggest hardship you faced during your career and how did
(06:49):
you work your way through it to get to the
other side.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
Yeah, I think it really just stems back from my
first year in college, you know, being an eighteen year
old kid being a starting quarterback at USC, and then
you know having coaches, you know, having my head coach
being fired in week two of my senior year or
my freshman year, and then you know, new coaching staff
coming in, you know, bringing in their own guys and
having to you know, unexpectedly, you know, leave and start
(07:14):
somewhere new. I think that was an adverse situation for
me of trying to just overcome you know, different things,
and I figured out really quickly how much movement there
is in the football space. And you know, it obviously
wasn't easy moving, you know, all the way to Mississippi
from you know, where I'm from in the West Coast
and being away from family. But I think it's been
(07:36):
a wonderful experience for me and I feel like I've
found the better end of it.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, Jackson, we look forward to seeing you donamobile in
the practice week and in the game as well, and
look forward to seeing where the what this opportunity does
for you as you look to make this jump to
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Thanks again for giving us a few minutes.
Speaker 8 (07:52):
Yeah, so I appreciate y'all. Look forward to it, all.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Right, Jackson Dark, they're heading down Andmobile. Now I'll look
at the quarterbacks that will be joining here as we
get you the full list as it stands now, the
quarterbacks will face off in the National Title Game. We'll
see their next action in Mobile. Will Howard has shined
in the college football playoff for Ohio State on one
side and for Notre Dame, the local favorite. Alabama's finest
(08:16):
Rianley Leonard will be there on the other side as well.
And let's kick this thing off here, Jim with a
quarterback that you are, another one of these quarterbacks that
you are excited to see, Jine.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Yeah, the Heisman finalists, Dylan Gabriel. So back to back years.
We had bo Nicks in the game last year from Oregon.
So excited to get Dylan down here, a guy that
you know a year ago. There's a lot of snark
out there, a lot of snarkiness about how old bow
Nicks was and how many starts he had.
Speaker 7 (08:44):
Well, look what it's doing right now. All these starts
are doing for him in.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
The NFL and Dylan Gabriel just broke his starts record
in college football with sixty three career starts. He's coming
into the NFL with so you know, rhythm passer really accurate.
And he's been in three different locker rooms in three
different parts of the country guys, so we're talking you
see app Oklahoma, and now out in Eugene, Oregon. So
that's that's big from like the leadership standpoint. He's been
(09:09):
around a lot of different kinds of guys and been
highly successful. So really excited to get Dellan down here.
Hopefully it's the same type of week the bon Nixon
a year ago.
Speaker 10 (09:19):
Man, Jim, it's interesting the way you described him.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
You talk about someone who's been at multiple schools, but
who's elevated the group around him. Riley Leonard, I could
say the same thing for you know, I made Duke
relevant and the job he did there. Then he goes
over to Notre Dame and as you mentioned, they find
themselves in the National Championship game. I feel confident once
we get the game day, he's gonna he's gonna wow
people with what he can do running the football and
(09:41):
the athleticism you see that on the field each and
every week at Notre Dame. The practice week for him,
I think is as big as anybody in the entire game.
You know, can he consistently stack days as a passer.
He's got a lot to gain there in Mobile. I
can't wait to see him.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
You know, DJ is funny you talk about Riley Leonard
and what he has to offer as a runner but
also needing to work on things as a passer. The
ant could be said for Jaln Milroe. We have seen
Jalen dominate games as a dual threat playmaker at Alabama.
He's a rugged player, guy who can really overwhelm defenses
with his physicality and toughness.
Speaker 8 (10:13):
As a runner. But he also has to show a
level of consistency as a passer.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
He's done it at times, but we want to see
a track record of him being able to stream together completions.
The weekend Mobile will be big for him in his
draft status.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
As I mentioned, Will Howard has had a fantastic college
football playoff. I love his mindset, I love his competitiveness,
I love his desire to get better. One of the
big reasons why he went to Ohio State wanted to
be coached by Ryan Day to be coached by Chip Kelly,
and with a full year under there Tootelage, he feels
like he has become a completely different player.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
So excited to see him showcase those.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Skills down Amobile as he has on the national stage
these last couple of weeks. Okay, so the quarterbacks always
a big priority as we judge these guys that are
out there on the field, but we're also going to
get a look at some of the running backs who
are down in Mobile this year. I'm going to take
a look at some of the guys that Jim has assembled.
(11:07):
He in his terrific scouting staff that has had the
opportunity to.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Watch these guys on tape.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Well, you know Donovan Edwards, right, he was on the
cover of the new EA Sports College Football video game,
and now he is in the game for the Senior Bowl.
A couple of touchdowns as you might remember in Michigan's
national championship victory Up and Down twenty four.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
But with talent the Wow evaluators in Mobile.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
One of the faces of Lance Leipolt's Kansas rebuild will
be among the running back group as well. Devin Neil
Now Kansas is all time leading rusher both in yards
and touchdowns, will put his production to the test for
NFL teams.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Jim, what you got here in this running back group,
I'll start with R. J.
Speaker 7 (11:45):
Harvey.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Kick us off with him. I think right now he's
the number one rated senior running back on a lot
of teams boards right now, probably with Trevion Henderson from
Bio State. But this guy made a nice jump this
year and we're seeing it right now, some of the
things he can do in the passing game. This guy's
a true true weapon on third down. He's that change
of paceback with really dynamic ability. You know, average almost
(12:09):
seven yards of carry this year, fifteen hundred yards, twenty
two touchdowns. He's just dynamic and we're seeing it here
on all these slips right now. But he can make
people miss. He's got home run speed. He's really a
guy right now that everyone in the league. There was
starting to a buzz started with this guy probably in
late September, early.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
October, and he's just a true big play bread.
Speaker 8 (12:33):
You know, you're talking about big play thrists, Jim.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
The guy that got my own is the Oklahoma States
stand out Ali Gordon Ali Gordon in twenty twenty three
was a cast me out I head over seventeen hundred yards.
He's a guy who's proven that he can do things,
special things as a runner and receiver. I kind of
want to see him remind everybody of his greatness and
his potential.
Speaker 8 (12:50):
This is a big opportunity for him down to the
Senior Bowl and Buck.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
I'm looking at what he marks as someone at SC
who can really really catch the ball out of the
back field. I think if you watch the playoff game
the other night, or if you've watched Tampa Bay Bucks
this year, I think America would all agree that Bucky
Irving has been the world's second favorite Bucky, and I
think you're trying to find the next Bucky Irving. I
think what he marks can fill that type of a
(13:16):
role really really quick, elusive. It can catch the heck
out of the football.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, and he'll know how to run counter. After playing
for Lane Kiffin this last year with USC, I want
to talk. I mentioned Donovan Edwards talking about these running backs,
but it was really his team at Kleel Mullings that
stole the show at running back for the Michigan Wolverines
this year. Goes from linebacker to lead back right. Sharon Moore,
the head coach, said he can run you over. He's
done just about everything for us. Great pass Patrick protector.
(13:42):
He's been incredible in the locker room and also had
some explosive this year taking his game to the next level.
Can't wait to see his physicality on display down in Mobile.
So we're just getting started here with the reveals quarterbacks.
Running backs are now in the books, but we got
wide receivers on the wave for you. We have another
Ladi McConkie going down to Mobile this year, somebody who
(14:04):
can steal the show in those one on ones that
we love for you. Will highlight this wide receiver group
when we come back. Certainly a team game, but boy
and the practice opportunities down at the Senior Bowl, individuals
get a chance to shine. If you did that brighter
than Ladi McConkie at last year's Senior Bowl, I mean
(14:25):
some of the routes and some of the break points.
I think the defensive backs are still trying to wipe
those nightmares out of their brains after what Lad put
on tape turned that into a second round pick for
them from the LA Chargers. In a phenomenal rookie year
which he had over eleven hundred receiving yards. Let's take
a look at the receivers going down to Mobile this year.
How about a ten touchdown season at Illinois this season
(14:48):
for Pat Bryant put his name at the forefront of
the Big ten a wide receiver conversation. Was voted a
captain for the first time, and makes sense when you
hear him say, I just want to be remembered as
a tough, smart, dependable player who makes the has happened
when my team needs back to back thousand yard receiving
seasons from Miami's Exavier Ristreppo. And while he wasn't the
most highly recruited receiver to hit the hurricane scene, he
(15:09):
is now the career leader in receiving yards passing Santana
loss this season. So as we talk about these wide receivers,
there will be one there, Jim Naggy with a heavy
heart suiting up in Mobile, and that's Jack Pash.
Speaker 8 (15:24):
Yeah, Rad, I'd.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Be remiss not to start by saying everyone here in
Mobile is praying for Jack and his family, and we're
actually going to do something special for We're going to
do helmet stickers to.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
Commemorate his brother.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
But you know, Jack the player is really a guy
that came off the radar for US this past year
probably is the biggest riser of anyone at the wide
receiver position for US. This guy fifty more catches and
almost nine hundred more yards this year for TIFU.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
But he's not really a one year wonder. You go
back in his play history. This guy played a lot
when he was at LSU. So what I love about him.
You know, he's six one and a half two.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Hundred and twenty pounds and his acceleration off the line
of scrimmage. Right, I don't know what the top in
speed's gonna be, but this guy gets the tough end fast,
and he's big, he's physical, he'll block Like I just
I think teams are gonna love this guy what he's
all about. I mean, he's a good receiver, yes, but
he's just a he's a football player. So everyone's looking
(16:24):
for the next Bluk in Nakua. That's kind of been
the thing the last couple of years. Like I see
some stuff. I see some of the same stuff that
made Buca a great player in.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Zach Best, Yeah, and it was Jack's brother Tiger was
one of the unfortunate victims in the tragedy in New
Orleans on New Year's Day, certainly keeping his family in
our thoughts, DJ, you want to get to another receiver
for us here amongst this talented group.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
Yeah, look, Iowa State had a pair of talented receivers.
I'm excited to see him both there in Mobile. But
I'm going to go with Jalen Noel as my pick
for someone in one on ones that's gonna pop. We
showed those highlights of Lad McConkie. What a nightmare he
was to cover inside the slot, the quickness at the
line of scrimmage, at the top of routes. Jalen Noel
is excellent. And just because I've got two former scouts
(17:09):
here with me, I like to go in the way
back machine with my comp He gave me some Eddie
Royal vibes. I watched him, so he's a really good player.
Look forward to seeing him there.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Hey, look, DJ, we can never get enough good players
that are can making their way to Mobile and eventually
make their way into the league. So how about Tez
Johnson going back to Alabama being able to play in
front of some of the home folks. But this is
someone who is really really productive over three hundred catches
in his career, first at Troy Dinnert Oregon, and then look,
you talked about someone who has twenty eight touchdowns t
(17:40):
in each in the past few years at Oregon. He
is someone that is of interest because we love craftsman
outstanding route runners. He certainly has some talent that you
want to harness at the next level.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
I'm not sure we're going to hear a more common
comp than Tank Dell for Tess Johnson in this draft cycle.
Certainly plenty to get into with that comparison. Another one
that I was intrigued by was Tai Felton, wide receiver
of Maryland, who really popped onto the scene second half
of the twenty twenty three season. And you know, coaches there,
Mike Waxley.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
And Marylyn say to it.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
He came in to College Park with a knee injury,
and once he recovered from that, he got his confidence back.
It really allowed that explosiveness to take hold and start
to show up again on tape and he was a
force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten this season.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Let's show you some of the tight ends. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 8 (18:26):
Hold on whoa?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
I know, Nagi is turned into a marketing genius and
if you follow the Senior Bowl on all socials, it's
off the charts what they do. Of course, here's my
free of charge free advice from the Move to six
marketing department. A most valuable Jalen this week, because I
think they're ninety four James in this game. That needs
to be a trophy and that needs to be handed
out by the end of the week.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Got it, Nags, Get the trophy makers done amobile on
that one, in addition to all the great Practice Player
of the Week awards that you end up handing out.
All right, let's get to the tight ends here. This
is an intriguing group. Terrence fergus And is one that
has certainly caught my eye. Here a stellar career in Eugene,
one that's recognized by his defensive teammates who call him
crafty and a challenge to your mental acuity because he
(19:11):
knows how to get you in a certain technique so
that he can take advantage and win. Plenty of big
time playmakers, including Harold fannin junior was a record setter
at the position done at Bowling Green and had a
fun invite acceptance from Jim and the crew.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
I think you know where I'm standing up here.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
I usually do this for seniors, but it was pretty
cool last year.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
The NFL is let us bring on your classmen in
the Senior Bowl now for the second year.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
And this is this is a group thing, man.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
I know it's you know, it's not just one individual.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
But you guys know there's a special guy in the
steam that's out a special year.
Speaker 7 (19:45):
So let's bring up Harold fan and where are you.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
All right? I want to thank Joe for opportunity on
a fans baron close left on flushing me making me
go hard.
Speaker 8 (20:01):
Thank you guys could have done it.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
What else?
Speaker 8 (20:05):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Grays to Harold Fana Junior DJ A guy I know
you're studying on tape.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yeah, someone, I think he just caught three more passes
while you were doing that video there. I mean the
productions off the chart. You see the numbers at the
bottom of the screen. Look, I don't love Hall of
Fame comps because it makes you look like an idiot.
But he just movement wise, he's not as big, but
he gave me like Antonio Gates vibe. It's just kind
of the movement. It's kind of like that subtle where
(20:29):
you're like, I don't know if he's fast, but he's
sure is faster than everybody else is trying to catch him.
And that included in a sixty five yard against Texas
A and M.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
He's just a really.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Really smooth mover who can make things happen after the catch.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Yeah, if we're staying at tight end, I'm gonna go
to another guy talk about Hall of Fame comps.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
I'm not couting new on Hall of Famer, but he's
the son of a Hall.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Of Famer, Jason Taylor, the great Miami Dolphins defensive and
who was part of our Senior Bowl seventy fifth anniversary
team last year.
Speaker 7 (20:58):
His son Mason Taylor.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
He's Leamond lsu is the all time leading tight ends
guy in receptions and yards.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
And I'll take you back to last year's.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Brode right, it was Jade Daniels Lake neighbors Brian Thomas Junior.
To me, this guy stole the show, I mean, because
they didn't use him in a lot of veried routes.
Few years ago and to see him run a full
NFL route tree during that workout, I was blown away.
And so this guy, I think Mason Taylor's got a
chance to be the first tight end taken in this draft.
(21:26):
And you're not hearing a lot of that right now.
I think you're going to hear a lot more of
it as we lead up to April.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
That's the opportunity that these guys get by going down
a mobile and putting.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Their skills on display at the Senior Bowl. Much more
to come that that.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
The receivers are in the books, and it's not just
you know, wide receiver dB one on ones that we love.
It is also those offensive linemen and the big guys
on the defensive front.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Going at at one on one.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
We'll get to see some of the guys who will
be in that drill when we come back with our
offensive lineman reveal. And what a special moment, Dad on
the phone crying, John Stalworth, Alabama a and Mlum's senior
ball alum and Steelers great giving Carson Vincent the invite
(22:10):
which he accepted, and coming in from the HBCU ranks.
All right, offensive lineman, as we look here for the
senior ball. Look at Connor, Lely and Cornelius to book
in tackles for the Ducks. Are there trio of LSU
Tigers making the short drive the mobile for bat Rouge, Dellager,
Fraser and Jones. How about Jonah Manheim from USC could
have gone to the league last year after playing most
of his career as a tackle. Instead makes the move
(22:31):
to center and it's paid off. Lincoln Riley called him
the lynchpin of the Trojans offensive line. Gray Zabel grew
up in Mound City, South Dakota, population seventy as in
seven zero, on the family farm. Small town kid, big
time player, dated North Dakota State because he said family
and friends were more important than nil money. He's a
major in agriculture and a minor in agrib business, which
(22:54):
I'm told DJ also has in his repertoire from app State.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
Is that right?
Speaker 10 (23:01):
Very similar? Very similar degrees? Very similar.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Yeah, you said agriculture, because when I watched him, I
thought it was aggravated.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
I didn't know that that was his major, But that
makes sense.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
Can I talk?
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Can I watch some tape on this day we talk
about him? Grey Zabel. When you go to the Senior Ball.
If you watch with us each and every year, you
know there's going to be a lineman who's going to
end up ticking off the defensive lineman because he's such
a nasty finisher and how aggressive he is. Graysabel's my
selection to be that guy this year. You watch him
in the run game. He moves people, he finishes people
(23:32):
in past protection. He's really strong and firmed. I want
to see him against some elite edge rushers. How does
he move around, how does he redirect? I think he's
going to be just fine there. But one I'll definitely
have my eyes on. He is a he might have
a degree in agriculture, but he's got a master's and aggravated.
Speaker 9 (23:50):
Well.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
DJ There's another guy down here that I think is
gonna really get after people, and that's Big Jonas Savinea
from Arizona. You know, we had Jordan Morgan, his former
teammate in the Senior Bowl last year, went in the
first round to the Green Break Packers.
Speaker 7 (24:06):
And Big Joony. You talk about a guy that can
recreate the line of scrimmage, it's this guy.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
This is a massive balancy player man, and he's played
right tackle mostly.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
We're going to kick him inside and let him play
some guard during the week.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
To me, this is a guy that has Pro Bowl
type ability, and I think he's going to be in
that mix for one of the first offensive lineman taken
in this draft.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
You know, I love when you talk about into your
players and how gask and have an opportunity to really
show improve but also love when small school guys get
a chance, and so Jackson Slater is a guy to
have my eye on them.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
From sax State. We understand how we've seen so many.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
People leverage this game and use it as an opportunity
to really enhance that draft status.
Speaker 8 (24:45):
Forty four stars can play either side at guard.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
I just love what he's going to have an opportunity
to do, show improve that he can play with the
big boys. If he does it, it's certainly going to
hance this conversation in a draft room.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
A right, guys been to a family connection here for
me as it talking about Ozzie Trapillo from Boston College.
So my dad, who also doubles as the medical coordinator
for the Senior Bowl, taped Ozzie's dad's ankles, Steve Trapillo,
when both were with the New Orleans Saints, So we
got a little bit of a connection there. Ozzie's dad, Steve, though,
you know, unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away when Ozzie was
(25:19):
two years old, but it was clear the family business
was in his blood. Followed dad footsteps at at Boston College,
and now we'll do the same in the NFL. Ozzie,
it looked forward to meeting him and look forward to
chatting with him about his family lineage. It's really cool
to see that story make its way to the NFL. Now,
all right, guys, so we've done the offensive lineman. Now
time to get the other side of the line of scrimmage.
(25:40):
We'll bring the defensive lineman. Interview edge rushers and defensive
tackles when we come back right here on the Move
to Sticks a Senior Bowl roster reveal show.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Here in Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
We're all just heartbroken by the devastation and rush from
the raging wildfrars across the Greater LA region. Helped the
American Red Cross respond to and help people recover from
these disasters. You can donate today to support relief efforts
by going to Redcross dot org.
Speaker 8 (26:13):
Slash NFL.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Getting back to the roster reveal here for the twenty
twenty five Reese's Senior Bowl.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
We're going to talk about some of the defensive linemen.
Speaker 7 (26:22):
Now.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
The Hendricks Award, winner given to the nation's best defensive end,
stands out among a talented group of edge rushers. Talking
about Boston Colleges, Donovan Zeraku thirty career sacks at BC,
second only the Matthias Kimlin Nuka in school history. Olo
if Emmy Oladaejo is a great story of selflessness bringing
both individual and unit success. He was a linebacker by
(26:43):
trade until a few weeks into this season, then made
the move to edge rusher and has excelled so much
against the Senior Bowl invite as an edge rusher. So,
guys talking about edge rushers here, we certainly got a
bunch of them. They are going to wreak some havoc
out there on the field. Inmobile, Jim Naggie, what stands
out to you, my friend, Well, I'll.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Start at my alma mater in Josiah Stewart. And when
you say that name, the word violent comes good.
Speaker 7 (27:10):
It just comes to mind. Take you back a couple
of years, three four years ago.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Now, Coastal Carolina was playing a game here in Mobile
against South Alabama, and I was out there to see
Isaiah likely the great.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
Baltimore Ravens tight end.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Now in one of the coaches they're like, you're going
to be coming after this guy in a few years.
That was Josiah's true freshman season, twelve and a half
sacks in the Sun Belt. Fast forward, now he's at
Michigan and he's not just a pass rusher. Guys like
when you see this guy take on pullers, he buckles people.
Really fun guy to watch, high infer player, explosive player.
(27:44):
He's the guy that I think is really going to
tear people up into one on one stuff.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
You know, Jim, we love explosive players when we're looking
at past rushers. And Mike Green from Marshall is someone
that really stands out to me when you're dig in
his background and you see that he was a decorated
wrestling participant in high school and then he goes to Virginia,
makes his way to Marshall and it has terrific production.
His final season seventeen sax threeforce fumbles. A guy that
(28:09):
has that first step of quickness and burst that you like,
we always talk about in college sach production translates really
well to the NFL. We will have an opportunity to
see if Mike Green can translates some of that superior
sech artistry into big time production at the next Lowe.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Well, you guys have already discussed who my favorite players
that are going to be at the Senior bol I
think it's the best position group. I think it's the
star of the show is going to be this defensive line,
including Land and Jackson, who is someone when you watch him,
First of all, he looks enormous. He's almost sixty six,
he's near two hundred and eighty pounds, he's long, he's rangy.
Jim talked about that violence with Josiah Stewart. You see
(28:46):
the same type of violence system in a little bit
bigger and longer package here from Land and Jackson. The
numbers on the screen do not do justice to how
impressive his tape is. And he's going to be a
nightmare when we get to these one on ones and mobile.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Another guy who kind of fits the physicality and size
kind of frame piece of the Pustle is ty Robinson
from Nebraska. In fact, so much of that frame feels
like it has some inside outside situational scheme versatility there
depending on where he ends up in the league. But
you want to watch some tape on him, go watch
that Colorado game you're seeing on your screen.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
He was a runaway freight train coming down the tracks.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
A foundational player in Matt Rules two years there for
the Huskers, getting him back to Bowl eligibility this season. Okay,
so let's switch now from the edge rushers to the
interior defensive alignment.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
Here.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Hot name among scouts this year that I talked to
and my travels throughout the Big Ten.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Black from Iowa said he got whooped by Tyler Linderbaum
in practice every day when he was a freshman. Helped
him become the player he is now. Vocal leader for
the Hawkeys this season. Cameron Jackson from Florida made an
effort to trim some weight this season to play more
snaps faster this year. Wanted to put that on tape
as well as his improved in tearing or pass rush,
(30:01):
and they'll have another opportunity to showcase that improvement down
in Mobile. Jim Nagi tak a look at that defensive tackle.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Group for US.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Yeah, I'll start with Omar Norman Lot at Tennessee.
Speaker 7 (30:13):
Now he's the guy.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
This happens every year we announced players accepting their invites
and and inevitably my phone will start, you know, blowing
up from NFL scouts.
Speaker 7 (30:21):
And that happened with Omar Norman Lot.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
We all saw what what the Senior Bowl did last
year for Braden Fists, right, I mean, so athletic guys
didn't even get a hand out of in the past
row stuff. And then Omar Norman Lot has a chance
to be that guy this year. Nine and a half
sacks over the last two years. He wins right away
with that, with that initial get off, really athletic. Once
he gets into the backfield. So teams looking for a
(30:44):
fifth type player, then they should be. Because Fist had
eight and a half sacks.
Speaker 7 (30:48):
This year as a rookie. Omar Norman Lot fills that role.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Yeah, you talk about some traits with him as well,
and that leads me right to Schmark Turner. You see
the numbers two sacks and you're gonna roll your eyes
and say, well, okay, was this guy just an edge setter. Look,
the production might not be there, but the disruption is
definitely on the tape. I wrote down juicy and underlined
it about four times when I was going through His
(31:15):
VP is explosive. He can jack guys back with big
town power. He can play on the edge, he can
play inside if you want him to. He's real versatile.
Just look at him. I mean, there will be nobody
that looks better getting off that Senior Bowl bus short
of the trainer of the said All Star Game, but
that is it. Nobody else beside Dean Kleidzman will look
(31:35):
that good on that field.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
DJ.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Just to follow up on that, this is another guy
that there's a lot of people in the league think
this guy is a chance to be a first round
draft pick. And you know, you talk about the traits
and the tools for two and ninety or two hundred
and ninety five pounds, when you watch this guy, he
moves like he's two sixty or two sixty five, So
you know, it really belies the size this movement does.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
So yeah, I'm really excited to get you. Well.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Also, we'll have the Jalen Trophy. Will also need the
Texas A and M Schamar Trophy obviously with Shamar Stewart
also in the game. I think Jim scout spent the
entire season in college station ringing the entire A and
M defensive line to mobile this year.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Excited for it.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Okay, when we come back here, going to stay on
the defensive side of the ball. Get to the dbs,
the corners in safeties looking to make a name for
themselves on the next level in front of NFL evaluators.
They are under the microscope and we return.
Speaker 7 (32:32):
A right.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
The twenty twenty five Senior Well Roster Reveal Show continues
on the defensive side of the ball. Looking at the linebackers.
You want to talk about a guy with the mental makeup,
leadership and functional ability to be the catalyst for your
defense on the second level, Look no further than Oregon's
Jeffrey Bossa, a guy who made it go for the
Ducks on that side of the ball.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
You know I mentioned earlier with Fimi Oladejo and UCLA.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
A selfless move to edge actually allowed Carson Swessinger to
get on the field as a starting linebacker and became
a rising start a position nationwide Buckets Award finalist after
playing about nine games at the position. Incredibly instinctual player
with some big time production in a limited time frame
Jim Naggy, and let's look at this linebacker group.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Demetrius Knight from South Carolina. Guys, this is a guy
that I think the league right now is higher on
than than the media. I think the media will catch
up on this guy. Two things, speed and aggression. This
guy plays with an edge, he covers a ton of ground,
He's super physical, and I love the makeup of the guy.
Speaker 8 (33:31):
Right.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
So when he was at Charlotte, he's a family man,
he's got a wife and a child. He did door
dash after games to make extra money because they didn't
have the nil funds that they did in South Carolina.
And then just checking in with his agent this week.
He's a guy like he's not going off to one
of these fancy training places. This guy is staying in Columbia,
South Carolina and just getting all his work done there
(33:54):
at the school. So those are some of the little
things that NFL scouts are going to love about this guy.
And you see you see that makeup come out on
the tape. I mean, this guy just flies around and
places bought off.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
I think Dan Campbell just took a couple of notes.
I think Brat Holmes just took a couple of notes there.
Speaker 10 (34:08):
We need to know what his rating is. I need
to know what his delivery rating is. That's where you
draft him. Let's homework on this.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Yeah, that's right, five star without question on that front.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Okay, let's move to the cornerbacks here fellas and look
a bit of a roller coaster of a career for
Tommy Hill out of Nebraska, but really excelled.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Got his confidence back once Matt rule took over.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Therefore, the corner Huskers re established himself as a top
flight corner at a big pick six off Shandor Sanders
in the Huskers emotional win over Colorado. Hey converted wide
receiver and special teams ace turned top flight corner Darian
Porter from Iowa State. It'll be a fun one to
watch in one on ones, Porter, whose defensive coordinator John
Haycock said, has an unlimited ceiling, a little young in
(34:52):
the position, but man, some serious upside there. Can't wait
to watch him get on the field and try to
d up some of these wider and we've been talking
about already in the.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Senior Bowl Roster Reveals show.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Let's talk to DJ a little bit about a corner
that's kind of caught your eye.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Yeah, Maxwell Harriston from Kentucky. Long explosive, rangy, athletic corner,
but they'll use in a variety of techniques. You'll see
him get up in press, which I love him up there.
He's real physical at the line of scrimmage. From off coverage,
he'll just kind of squad on routes because he trusts
his deep speed. If you're going to get to him,
he can flip and turn and recover in a heartbeat.
(35:29):
Not a ton of ball production this year, but someone
who I think is going to show out very well
when we get into a competitive atmosphere those one on ones,
just because how fluid and smooth he is.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
Yeah, DJ, I mean Max.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Harris didn't really popped for us last year when we
were watching Drew Phillips tape the great rookie for the
New York Giants. But I'll stick another big, long, physical
press corner and that's Bazari and Thomas from Florida State.
This guy's got position versatility. He plays big at the
catch point. Like I said, he's good in press, really competitive.
So he's to be a coach right now. By Patrick
(36:01):
certain at Florida State Senior Bowl Hall of Famer that
we put in our Hall of Fame a couple.
Speaker 7 (36:06):
Of summers ago. Rhett, you know you did that. You
did that announcement.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
When you talk to Pat, I mean, he just loves
this guy as a competitor, right, and so that's that's
why I'm excited to see him on our practice field,
just the level of competes that he's going to bring
to this game.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
And I got really a versatile player, smart player.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
They moved around a lot. So again he's got position versatility,
but outside as a press man guy, I think that's
where he's going to excel.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Okay, So from the cornerbacks, we'll move to the safeties.
Heading down a mobile as part of this year's class,
we'll start with a two in green wave Thrived in
your Wonder. John Summral brought Caleb Ransall with him from Troy.
You some raw says, you know, two hundred pound kid
with a major dB skill set who can cover an
outside receiver or work inside. You know that versatility often
(36:52):
popular down in the practice week at.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
The Senior Bowl. Hunter Wohler is always searching for a
heat signature and he usually.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Finds one and arrives with bad intentions, heartbeat of a
Wisconsin defense despite some turbulent times the last couple of
years in Madison, A Bucky. How about another name that
stands out to you amongst that crup.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Okay, look, I'm guilty as charge because sometimes you're not
supposed to scout development, but I'm scouting to him. And
when it comes to Iowa DBS, they've been so successful
putting guys into the league that Sebastian Castro is the
guy that I have my eye on.
Speaker 8 (37:25):
When you look at what he's able to do a
little bit of diversatility.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
We see sack production, we see the ball production in
terms of interceptions, but it's the awareness and the overall
IQ that he brings to the field. When you look
at how successful I was safeties in particular have had
and transition from college to pro. I'm just a believer
that he is going to have a similar path to
the National Football League. Look for him to be somewhere
that stands out and practices and probably makes a player
(37:51):
to win the game when he gets a chance.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Yeah, I'm going to stay in that same conference. Buck,
I'm going to go to Ohio State with one big
game yet to play, Leithan Ransom has just been a
steady eddie. You watch him, He's consistent. He's an excellent
open field tackler. I don't think he's going to wow
with the testing, but what you're going to see is
someone as you're looking at the highlights, who can poke
the ball away. He's instinctive, he's smart, he can be
(38:16):
the traffic cop and can play high as well as low.
So I love the sum of his parts as it
all comes together.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Yeah, here to ear.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Grin from Ohio State Safety's coach mcgarari when I was
asking him about Leith and Ransom said, we've literally asked
him to do everything. You want to put him back
as the deep safety. You want to drop him down
and try to be a more physical player in a
run game.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
If you need it, he can do it.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
He's a guy that can cover some tight ends and
just a guy with a great head on his shoulders,
understands the opportunities in front of him and will take advantage.
So really excited to see teams kind of fall in
love with the player in person that Leith and Ransom is.
It certainly came back from a big time injury to
have a terrific career at Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Okay, when we come back, we've given you the offer,
We've given you some defense.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
We've got to give you some specialists and some final
thoughts on this twenty twenty five roster that Jim and
his staff have expertly put together for us when we
come back.
Speaker 11 (39:15):
I was just excited at the opportunity because I'd seen
the Senior Bowl numerous times. I was excited to go
and compete against the other quarterbacks and DB's and seven
on seven and one on ones and just kind of
see what the next level was going to look like
from that lens. I was just excited to, you know,
have a chance to play in front of you know,
NFL scouts, GMS owners, and practice down on the field,
(39:38):
you know, being around that in that environment, you know,
having NFL coaches coach you throughout the week. So really
just I thought it was a great opportunity to continue
to develop and improve my game.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Love that mentality from Carson.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Palmer went from Heisman Trophy to mobile to a number
one overall pick of the Cincinnati Bengals. All right, let's
get to some of the specialists that we're going to
see as well, we got some blue blood brands there,
Jim Nagy, and you've got some blue chippers that you
like out of this group.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
Well, the two punters Bernart and Crosshaw both bossis, so
we love our offs punters here and then the name
of stix out Kate and Davis from Old Miss. If
you talk to special teams coaches around the NFL with
this new kickoff rule, some of these guys just want
an automatic touch back a lot of the time, and
that is that is Kate and Davis. This dude's hang
times on kickoffs are over five seconds, which most scouts
(40:30):
don't like to pull out the stop watch and do
that kind of stuff, but a five second hang time
on a kick is ridiculous. So that's why we added
kateen because special team coaches are gonna love this guy.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Dj A, you got the obviously still got the stopwatch ready.
Speaker 10 (40:43):
I'm just working.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
I'm working on touchdow till punters right now, so I'll
get back to the kickers and just a little bit
fal thought.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
So with the sure sets up to be an incredible
weak heremobile daj.
Speaker 10 (40:55):
Yeah, I'm fired up.
Speaker 4 (40:56):
You know, Jim's done a wonderful job with his staff
putting together this roster, and I think it's going to
be as competitive as we've ever seen down there and
each and every year. Last year ten first rounders. I
think you'll see even more out of this group. It
is the best week of the year. Yeah, it is
the best week of the year because you get to
see real competition, a scals. We love to see best
on best.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
We get a chance to see all these guys go
against the best and other positions.
Speaker 7 (41:18):
I love that.
Speaker 8 (41:19):
That's why I sauch an exciting week.
Speaker 7 (41:20):
I'd just like to end with some thank you. Thank
you guys for the show.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Thanks thanks to our staff for putting in all the
time on the road this fall and scouting these players,
and then the NFL teams for helping out with our process.
It's always huge And guys, we're everyone. I just want
everyone to know that we're all praying for you and
mobile everyone in LA praying for you guys.
Speaker 10 (41:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
That's awesome. Jim. I'm always great to spend some time
with you. Appreciate your kind thoughts for all of us.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
And all that are dealing with what's been a really
rough week here in Los Angeles. Excited to get down
a mobile though, where you'll have Senior Bowl practices for
you all day long, starting at three o'clock, and then
we get the insiders at seven. Senior Bowl Recap show
comes at eight, and on game Day, the NFL Game
Day Kickoff pregame show starts at two pm Eastern Time,
(42:05):
with the main event shortly there to follow at two thirty.
We'll wrap it up with the NFL Game Day Final
at five thirty. That's going to do it for us,
for Jim Naggy, Bucky Brooks, Daniel Jeremiah, and our great
production crew. I'm Read Lewis, thanks for being with us.
We'll catch you next time.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Here I'll move this day
