Speaker 1 (00:02):
If Monday night was a playoff preview, it is probably
not one. The NFL once in primetime again, But what
did it say about the Eagles and Packers moving forward?
Mark Ross and Brian Bolinger will help us break it
all down. No such problem for laf mconckey or a
Chargers offense that just.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Keeps finding away.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Ladd joins us tonight to disgusting state of play in
LA and how far these bolts can go? How far
can your fantasy team go? One key waiver edition can
make all the difference. Good thing we have our trusted guide,
Michael f. Florio here tonight to show you the way.
Welcome inside with the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance, alongside

(00:42):
Judy Matista and Mike Garafalo. I am Tom Pelisero Week
ten officially in the books, and yes we will get
to what I would nicely call a defensive struggle from
last night momentarily. First news around the NFL, including bad
news for the Jaguars. Travis Hunter officially out for the
remainder of the season after undergoing surgery or apparent injury

(01:04):
to the lateral collateral ligament.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
It is right knee.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
The good news no other damage six month recovery. The
bad news the Number two Picks rookie season is over,
Joe Burrow beating his timeline, officially returning to practice on Monday,
less than two months after undergoing surgery for a severe
turf toe injury. Joe's hair has never looked better, and
neither of his chances for playing again sooner than later.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Let's hope for that b to be potentially fully healthy,
but still not hold yourself back from that play and
given all the work you've taken to get ready to
this point.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Yeah, we'll see over the next couple weeks still to
see how it feels, and we'll make a decision.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
You know, there's, like I said, a lot of variables that.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Are going to go into this, and the number one
is how it's feeling in my health. So we'll just
take it day by day like we have been throughout
the reham.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
Processed see Washington Commanders are in Madrid for the final
game of the Internet.

Speaker 7 (02:00):
Series this year.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Not with them quarterback Jayden Daniels he stayed back with
the disclocated elbow, but receiver Terry McLaurin, who's also not
going to play in Madrid against the Dolphins. He did
make the trip despite still recovering from the quad injury
that has cost him so much time of the season.
He's played in just four games, just thirteen receptions, and finally,
when they do play on Sunday, it's going to be

(02:21):
head coach Dan Quinn doing the defensive play calling. He
took that role over from Joe Witt junior. Witt does
remain with the team, but the defense has been struggling
badly twenty nine ten points allowed, thirtieth in yards allowed,
so it was time for a change as the season
was slipping away Mike, and we believe dan Quinn is
going to be the defensive play caller the rest of
the way.

Speaker 8 (02:41):
CEJ Shroud, Texans quarterback remaining in the concussion protocol Davis
Mills leading the team to a dramatic victory over the
Jaguars the other day.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Stroud took this hit a couple of weeks ago. He
needs to.

Speaker 8 (02:53):
Start progressing through the protocol obviously before he's considered to play,
so we'll see what the practice week brings forstre but
right now in the protocol, as is Giants quarterback Jackson Dart.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
A lot of changes with the Giants this week.

Speaker 8 (03:06):
Dart in the concussion protocol after this hit here. It
seems like the NFL is content with how the protocol
was followed.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Although they'll take a full look into this one.

Speaker 8 (03:17):
If he cannot go, Interim head coach Mike Kafka will
look to either Russell Wilson or Jamis Winston to be
the starting quarterback for the team's upcoming game if Dart again,
Tom is unable to go.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I had the pleasure of being at lambeau Field last night.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
A game is so good.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
We're just going to fast forward directly to the fourth quarter.
Jordan Love Jalen Hurts, Eagles up three nothing late in
this game. First and ten from the Eagles, thirty six.
One play that worked. Hearts to Devonte Smith. This is
a thirty six yard touchdown. Great job, a high point
in the football right there by Smith. The Eagles take
a virtually insurmountable ten to nothing league But the Packers

(03:56):
did respond. Josh Jacobs off the right side, ragging defenders
into the end zone a six yard touchdown, about the
only good thing they had going on offense last night.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
To cut it to ten seven.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Late fourth quarter, now thirty three seconds left in the game,
Eagles still up ten to seven. They decided to go
for it on fourth and six. It's hurt's going deep
for a j. Brown, who was barely involved last night.
That gives the Packers one more chance. Then a bizarre
sequence there was a field goal, then an offens they
lined up, and then a shake and I was on

(04:30):
the field at the end of that game. I still
don't entirely know what to make of it. There were
not a lot of good options for the Packers. It's
either a hail Mary mike or you try the long
field goal. But Brandon mcmanuson actually previously before the Eagles
tell all the time out, said hey, let me kick this.
He came up short. They put the offense back out
and decided not to do that, and then they go

(04:52):
and they kick and it's terrible and there's a lot
to take in from the comfort of your home.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
What did you make of everything we.

Speaker 8 (04:58):
Saw last yeh, yeah, it was nice and warm on
my couch, Tom, How did you wind up doing there?

Speaker 9 (05:04):
In Green Value The Star with Sirianni who said after
the game that he didn't want to kick the field
goal because he knew it would have to be a
low trajectory kick. Now, this is a team that had
a block field goal against the Rams to help secure
a victory here.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
So I love that part of the decision.

Speaker 10 (05:21):
I knew.

Speaker 8 (05:23):
I think you got to punt the football though, even
if it's just you pun it into the end zone
and you pick.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Up another fifteen yards. Green Base had no timeouts left.

Speaker 8 (05:29):
That's a big fifteen yards and a short amount of time.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Now there's some chatter in Philadelphia.

Speaker 8 (05:34):
About the Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown they go rogue
on this one? Is that not the play call that
was called? Look, players have a chance to make adjustments
in the field. I can't go down that road again.
Like Jalen Heart's throwing the football to AJ Brown such
a good thing.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Like, let's just stick with that being. I don't care.

Speaker 8 (05:49):
You can throw it to him out of the back
of the end zone for all I care. Just throw
it in his direction and keep them happy. So, yeah,
it was I got a feeling if these teams play
again the postseas, I feel like we're gonna look at
this game go We're going to take nothing from that.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Like there's literally nothing you could take from that game.
And apply it if they meet again into both.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
There was no storyline that we covered more leading up
to the game than the tush push. We got Judy
exactly one of those, and it was something that even
from the moon which is what I would refer to
as the Lambefield press box, which is like dangling from
the rafters there just watching you go. That didn't look right. Clearly,
that's a play that should have been blown dead.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
It wasn't.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
You can see the left guard go completely across a
full yard across the line of scrimmage here. As Michael
Parsons said after the game, Hey, they're consistent. They're just
not going to call it. If this wasn't the play
that proved that Judy, I don't know what was.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
I find it ironic and kind of amusing that the
fact that the Eagles are so often in national television
games so that the whole nation is watching is probably
what's going to end up getting the tush push banned,
because all of a sudden, everybody in the United States,
including our Brian Baldinger, can see it and say, how are.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
They not calling this?

Speaker 6 (07:01):
I mean, Joe Buck was calling it from the broadcast
booth in real time. We were all watching it at home.
I mean I could see it clearly that they were moving,
that it was a false start, that it was not
being called. This has happened week after week after week.
I can tell you this. I covered the bush band
from the very beginning when Troy Vincent first said we're

(07:21):
thinking about maybe looking at the toush push. Never did
it come up about, boy, this is going to be
tough to officiate the tush push. Maybe that's why we
should get rid of it. It was the potential for
a catastrophic injury. It was is this really a football play?
Allowing them to push somebody that shouldn't really be a
football play.

Speaker 7 (07:40):
Those were the concerns.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Maybe there was quietly concerned about how it was being officiated.
Certainly none of us ever heard it. I can't remember
an owner ever bringing that up. Nobody on the competition
committee ever mentioned it. And now that appears to be
this central issue with the tushbush. I would be very,
very surprised if they don't look very close at the
touch push as soon as they get to the competition

(08:03):
committee meetings at the Combine. Don't forget they swung an
awful lot of votes in a very short period of
time to try to get it fanned last offseason.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
They don't have that much further to go, and.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
The fact that they cannot officiate it correctly and the
entire country thinks they are failing at officiating is going
to push it over the finish line.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
And there's certainly something we said for the tough to
officiate aspect of the play. But last night, that play
looks a lot more like when a defensive lineman jumps
across the line of scrimmage. It is the left guard
two hands across a full yard across the line of scrimmage.
Here that gets called one hundred times out of one
hundred against the defense. Maybe at this point it's a
psychological warfare thing and just everybody can't see it that

(08:44):
has to be called. That's something I would anticipate that
the league is addressing this week. Hey, if the playoffs
began tomorrow, both these teams would be in by the
way their defenses. Even Jeff Afley's Packers defense was unbelievable
in that game last night. But at this point, the
Packers be in as the number seven seed. The Eagles
would be getting in by some stretch as the NFC

(09:05):
East champs and in position to compete for the number
one seed. We know Brian Baldinger was at home watching
that and not thrilled with the twitschbook push call is
either let's set that aside for a moment here, Balding.
We also saw an Eagles defense last night that really
made life difficult on the Packers, including one of.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Their new editions.

Speaker 11 (09:24):
Well, I mean, they limited the Packers to three explosive
plays one touchdown. But you could not watch that game
last night and see the immediate effect that Jalen Phillips
has had on that defense. It helps that Nolan Smith
is back healthy for the first time sin it's been
like the first week or second week in the season,
and na Kobe Deanez is starting middle linebacker and Vic

(09:46):
Fangio has all these different packages. But Jalen Phillips is
a great football player. He has an injury history. It
has you know, snuck up on him at different time,
but he started at left end. He makes that play
right there, against the run, against the pass, the push,
The plays.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Were over and over again. That's what they were looking for.

Speaker 11 (10:07):
They've been looking at since they lost Josh we in
free agency a year ago. They've got him in Jalen Phillips.
They've gotten Nolan Smith back. Now Jalen Smith can have
a reserve role. And the big thing going forward is
his team is built for the postseason. And what they
want to do, Mark is you know they want to
be able to keep guys fresh, wave guys through and

(10:27):
so now they've got the debt on the defense line
that they covet with playmakers at those positions.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Flip sid that we know the Eagles defense is really good, Mark,
this is a Packers offense. So that the third time
this season that they have really struggled, it was Week
three in Cleveland, it was last Sunday against the Panthers,
and then it was last night. They are tied for
the lowest amount of points ever given up over the
last forty years in losses to this point in the season.
What is your level of concern and how without Tucker

(10:55):
Craft coming back now, some additional injuries, Elton Jagins going
out last night, how did they get this thing going well?

Speaker 12 (11:00):
Remember a couple weeks ago against Pittsburgh and Jordan Love
was looking like an MVP candidate and they he fens
could not be stopped, so they've got the highest of
the highs and the lowest of the lows. For some reason,
and a lot of it has to do with Jordan
Love just doesn't look confident in certain games, and it
kind of he starts getting into a funk and it's
almost as if they start playing not to lose, and

(11:21):
the play calling is not to lose. So many runs
inside the tackles, a lot of conservative throws, and Jordan Love,
even throughout his years when he was younger, avern in college,
he just had this free flowing play about him, quick
mind about him. Even when he was making mistakes, he
had that sort of play style. And now he just

(11:41):
plays very, very robotic and almost like a deer in
headlights when the rush comes at him.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
And you saw that a lot last night.

Speaker 12 (11:49):
So I'm not sure if it's his confidence level when
he gets in the games and he just can't get
out of the funk. And part of it may be
the play calling, because Josh Shakins after the game, if
you heard him say they knew on that crucial fourth
down that the Eagles were all calling out that play
and he didn't even want to run the ball.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
I had never heard a player say.

Speaker 12 (12:06):
Like, I didn't even want to get the ball because
of the their calling out the play. So I think
it's multiple factors of Jordan Love's confidence level. The play
calling has to be a little bit more wide open
and take advantage of that, and then the playmakers also
have to step up.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
But I'm betting on them to figure this out.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
One other thing too, the depth issues the Packers have
on both sides. Bull Melton, who's a converted wide receiver
now playing corner as their number four cornerback. Last night
he ends up also as their wide receiver three drops
a big ball on fourth down, gets an illegal alignment penalty. Like,
there's a lot of different things right now. Green Bay
has to smooth out. Baldy Mark, do not move more
from you in just a.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Bit, Mike tom The set news last week of Marshawn
Neelan's untimely death at the age of twenty four certainly
has rocked the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
The Cowboys through Jerry.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
Jones saying that they will honor Neiland by wearing a
special helmet decal for the rest the season. They will
also have shirts that they will wear in the pregame
to honor Neiland coming up here in their next game
on Monday night against the Raiders, and then the following
home game against the Eagles on November twenty third, the
team holding a memorial service for Neil, and my understanding

(13:17):
is they have done as much as they possibly can
do for his family already and in the near future.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
The Cowboys posting this to the social media.

The Insiders is presented by Progressive get coverage you can
count on with home and auto at Progressive dot com News.

Speaker 8 (13:56):
Into the Insiders here Jayer Alexander, whom the Eagles acquired
in a trade from the Baltimore Ravens before the deadline.
Stepping away from football to get right physically and mentally.
Alexander will then decide on his future. The other day,
the team announced a knee slash coaches decision as the
reason for why Alexander didn't travel to the game against

(14:16):
the Packers. Going to take his time before he decides
his football future.

Speaker 6 (14:20):
Welcome back to the Insiders, presented by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
It is Veterans Day.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
That's the Buffalo Bills speaking for all of us, thanking
veterans for their service to our country. We thank them
every day, but especially today, and we're really lucky today
to be able to catch up with one of our
very favorite Buffalo Bills. That's safety Demor Hamlin. I'm Judy Batista.
That's Mike Carafalo, I should say safety Demor Hanlin, and

(14:45):
also actor DeMar Hamlin. We're going to get to football
in just a second, but let's talk about what you're
doing off the field, because you're going to be in
a holiday movie the day after Thanksgiving.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
It premieres on the Wholemark Channel.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
The more the Merrier, and some of your co stars
are people from the Heart Mats community.

Speaker 7 (15:05):
Tell us what that is and how you got involved
with it.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Oh, for sure.

Speaker 13 (15:09):
So the Heart Mas Community is a partnership I have
with Abbott and I'm an ambassador for the Heart Mas community.
And what heart MACE is is. It is a community
of people that has been formed that have all experienced
different kinds of cardiovascular conditions. And through this community, you know,
we all relate to one another, We share stories, we

(15:31):
bounce ideas off of each other, and you know, a
lot of people tell me I'm their inspiration, but I
truly get my inspiration from kids, the people that are
part of the Heart MACE community.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
And you know, some things of the community.

Speaker 13 (15:45):
You know, dealing with all kinds of heart conditions can
be very isolating, it can be a lonely journey. And
I think I'm one that have experienced it personally how
heart health can change lives physically and emotionally. So to
have that, you know, not only to raise awareness for

(16:06):
these kind of things, but also to create that connection
through the Heart MAZ community has been very unique and
very special, and I'm super excited to, you know, have
our community showcased on the big screen through Hallmark Movie,
through our Hallmark movie.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
That's great stuff, Damar, And that's great.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
That Avan and Hallmark have asked you to be in
a movie with five kids who have experienced heart health
challenges like yourself.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
And to work on those acting chops.

Speaker 8 (16:32):
I guess during the season, our off season, whenever you've
got any chance.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
To do that.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
Let's let's talk football here, because this Bills team, you know,
I know, we talked about you guys being the leading
candidates in the a FC East, potentially the AFC as well.
It's hard to win football games in the NFL. Give
me the pulse of the Bills where they are, where
you guys are in that locker room right now, and
how much confidence you have that this thing is going
to get righted and moving in the right direction.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
I got extreme confidence in my teammates.

Speaker 13 (17:00):
I would figure, just like y'all got confidence in one another,
that y'all gonna get your job done as well. But
you know, I have nothing but believe in my teammates,
and I truly think it's a blessing to be a
part of, you know, the Buffalo Bills organization in any
kind of way or capacity.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
So you know, I'm just appreciating my blessing.

Speaker 13 (17:20):
And you know, even though I'm not able to be
out there right now with my teammates on the field,
you know I'm playing my role in being able to
make sure that you know, all our goals to intact
with they are. So you know, like I said, it's
truly a blessing to be a part of, you know,
an organization that truly cares about the players how they do,

(17:41):
and I think that's why we get the results that
we do well.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
You referenced this. You haven't been on the field much.
We haven't seen you in a month. You've been on
IR with the peck injury. How's your recovery coming along.
How are you doing?

Speaker 5 (17:53):
Me myself, I'm doing amazing. I'm blessed.

Speaker 13 (17:55):
I'm using the time wisely, truly, you know, allowing myself
to road within ways that you know will ultimately make
me better as a player and a person.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
Through this a little bit of adversity.

Speaker 13 (18:08):
This ain't the first bit of adversity that anybody has
seen me go through. So you know, I'm just I'm
just using the time to focus up and get myself
together to you know, ultimately be better afterwards.

Speaker 8 (18:21):
Yeah, we heard a little something about some of the
previous adversities that you've dealt with. I mean, does it
give you the perspective I mean, when you suffer an injury,
you know, I know that's a big thing for a
lot of people when you're playing in the NFL, like,
do you are you able to take this with all
perspective given that you've been through so much in your
entire career.

Speaker 13 (18:40):
Yeah, And I think the main thing of it all
is what you said, perspective.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
I think perspective is everything.

Speaker 13 (18:47):
And just to be able to have big perspective and
see everything through our angles, see through the lens of myself,
see through the lens of you, know of God first
and foremost, then myself, and then through everybody around me,
and then understand the common goal of where we're all
trying to go. I think is I think that's the

(19:08):
recipe for myself personally.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
Well, we certainly can't wait to see you back on
the field whenever that is. But in the meantime, we
can't wait to watch you on the Hallmark Channel. It's
November twenty eighth, that's Black Friday, eight pm Eastern. So
you've had your leftovers, you've done your shopping, you've watched
the game on Prime Video, and then you can settle
in and get in the holiday spirit with Damar. It's

(19:31):
called the More the Merrier Damar and the folks from
the Heartmates community, Tamarrow thanks so much. It's always so
great to talk to you. Talk to you again soon.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Time now for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance. The
Bills defense has been providing good coverage all season. Bubbalo
ranks third in the league in passing yards per game
allowed at just over one hundred and seventy yards per game.
Bills are fifth in opponent completion percentage, and yet after
that dud last week in Miami, they are second in
the a FCE, sitting a game and a half behind

(20:03):
the Patriots. Is welcome our Brian Baldinger back to the conversation, Baldy,
you were there Patriots Bucks on Sunday. It was another
big win for a New England team that continues to
climb or in the mix right now for the number
one seed in the AFC. What are you seeing from
Mike Vrabel's group, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 11 (20:22):
Well, they went into that game number one against the
run in defense, and so that's a rebuilt defensive line
led by Williams Harold Landry like Hayvon Chase Han along
with Roberts Blaine and middle linebacker. They're all new thirty
new players that have a big role in this team
right now. Kyus Talger right there making that play. But

(20:43):
they have a real chess piece in Christian Gonzalez. He
lined up on Emaica Buka a great deal during the game.
It was a good matchup. But he is a guy
that can take out your number one receiver. He is
a talented player that are very good tacklers in the secondary.
Tom So, I thought that, honestly, Tampa really had a
hard time moving the ball and getting explosive plays against

(21:07):
this defense. They've got two young secondary safeties and Craig
Woodson a rookie, and Jalen Hawkins who.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Was a free agent.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
But they like this pretty sticky coverage right there.

Speaker 11 (21:18):
They really challenge it. They really challenge it, and then
they have the ability to get after you. I think
they're very well coached. You know, Christian Barmore is healthy
this year after the blood clot so he's back there.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
He has a big role. So I think.

Speaker 11 (21:31):
Going forward, it's not just Drake May and the offense
right now, the defense can carry this a long long
waves as we go forward.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Nobody better than Baldy breaking it down. You got to
break down tomorrow on the Rams offense. Can't wait to
see that right here on this show. Thank you very much.
Still more to come on this episode of the program.
An interview with Ladd mccacky. He is dancing to the
end zone. He cost me a fantasy game last week.
More importantly, it's helping the Chargers win. Lad on the

(21:59):
End Siders presented by Progressive Insurance Next.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
It has been a very good start to the season
for Lad McConkie. Here is how he is doing among
AFC wide receivers. Fourth in receptions, third in receiving yards,
and tied for ninth with receiving touchdowns. We just showed
you One of those are Ian Rappaport. Caught up with
Ladd earlier.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Welcome inside with the Insiders. Ladd McConkie Chargers standout receiver,
fresh off a very very impressive win for the Chargers
over the Steelers.

Speaker 14 (22:35):
On Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
It was it was a lot offensively, you kind of
overwhelmed them a little bit. Certainly, I think the kind
of dominant performance that can really make you guys stand
out on national TV coming off that game, and I
know you had a big game.

Speaker 14 (22:50):
We'll get to that in a second.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
What do you think you guys showed the entire NFL
world watching that on Sunday.

Speaker 10 (22:56):
I think we just show that we're a complimentary football team.
I feel like, you know, we showed up and made
plays when we had two on offense. But our defense,
I mean, my goodness, they great turnovers, get a safety.
They played lots out special teams, we got a turnover.
So I think it was just all around good team ball.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yeah, there's been uh and there's going to be a
lot to talk about. Jesse Minter, your defensive coordinator, potentially
in the mix for some head coaching jobs. And you know,
he is a He is a stud, which is good,
but it's also bad because you guys could potentially lose him.
You see him every day in practice and all in
training camp. Why is that defense so good?

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (23:36):
First off, with Jesse, like selfishly, I hope hope he
stays with us, you know, forever.

Speaker 15 (23:42):
But no, whatever he gets, he deserves it.

Speaker 10 (23:44):
He's a heck of a coach, and he just gets
those guys to rally behind him. They scheme wise, they
doll it up, they do this, they do that, But
when it comes like that defense is really connected.

Speaker 15 (23:54):
They got guys that love each other over there and
that are playing for each other, and I think that's
that goes a long way.

Speaker 14 (23:58):
A really cool thing happened on Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Keenan Allen came into the game close to breaking the
franchise record for catches. Antonio Gates was in attendance. You
guys are away next week and Antonio Gates is presumably
not going to be there. It seemed to me as
someone watching that, Jim Harbaugh was like, we are going
to make sure that this guy gets the record. Was

(24:24):
that your sent and how meaningful is that for players
to see?

Speaker 15 (24:29):
Yeah? For sure, we wanted two things.

Speaker 10 (24:31):
We wanted to get the record and we wanted to
get a win so that we can enjoy that record
and really recognize it for him.

Speaker 15 (24:38):
And we did both of those, so we accomplished it.

Speaker 10 (24:40):
But no, Keenan zag of a player for him to
you know, achieve that, he's I mean, he's gonna be
the Hall of Fame one day.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
He's a stud.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Yeah, one of my favorites to watch, but always been
one of my favorites to watch.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
You know.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
One thing, so you are obviously in La and the
Olympics are coming to La. You are someone in football,
you are very very good in flag football. I feel
like you would be just as good or maybe better. Again,
the Olympics are coming to your backyard. Is that something
that you have thought about potentially playing it?

Speaker 15 (25:15):
Where do I sign up?

Speaker 10 (25:16):
I'd love to go compete for our country, win a
gold metal like that.

Speaker 15 (25:19):
That would be awesome. So if I get the opportunity,
I'll for sure jump on.

Speaker 14 (25:24):
Have you ever I assume you played growing up, right?

Speaker 10 (25:27):
I think I played on like six five or six
and then go straight into tackle. But yeah, I played
flag football. I feel like it's like backyard football, go around,
just you know, mess around, have fun.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I think you'd be I somehow, I think you'd be
able to be pretty good at it. So I want
to go back to Sunday Night more of a tackle
football question, not as much as of a flag football question.
Your precision on routes is really interesting to watch. Like

(26:00):
sometimes when you're just you know, you beat a guy
off the line, Like on your touchdown, you get open,
you had probably like a seemed like a.

Speaker 14 (26:06):
Two yards or more of separation.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
There are some times when it's like this much and
you have to be so precise, just to get the completion,
then the yards after the catch a whole different thing.
How specific are you when it comes to route running
and how much do you train that?

Speaker 9 (26:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (26:22):
I try to be.

Speaker 10 (26:23):
I try to be very detailed with it, and that
you know that starts in practice of the week, whether
it's you know, routes on rear and we're just dial
in and tom and footwork all that stuff and then
obvious sudden there practice trip. So try to be super
detailed and not try to be be consistent when I'm
running routes and not you know, not full of quarterback.
If I'm we're on the same page. No matter what
I do, we can get the job done. And those

(26:45):
those top windows, it definitely helps when you when you
got ten back there he can dial it up.

Speaker 14 (26:50):
How how how good is he?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Now?

Speaker 14 (26:52):
First two things? Two things on ten?

Speaker 2 (26:54):
How good is he?

Speaker 14 (26:54):
And are there times when you're like, can you just
not throw it as hard? H?

Speaker 15 (27:00):
He's a stud?

Speaker 10 (27:01):
Like I mean, I feel like, uh, he does, like
he gets recognition, but I don't think he gets the
recognition he deserves. He's playing lots out this year, so
we're lucky to have lucky to have him on our
team and also like he can sling it and he
can you know, make any and every throw on the field.

Speaker 15 (27:16):
But he does a good job like layering balls like
it's good.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Yeah, no doubt even probably doesn't get as much credit
for layering balls as he probably should. Yeah, I think again,
the world is watching is watching you guys. I'm gonna
be watching a lot more this season. Uh, before I
let you go, explain to me what you were doing
with the uh Dr Pepper Pepper portal.

Speaker 10 (27:38):
Yeah, yeah, no, just partner with Dr Pepper. Like, I'm
super excited about it. I feel like they do a
great job of like bringing college football fans together and
I really allowing them to engage. I know Georgia fans
will be you know, super excited about and eat it up.
So the Pepper Portal was like, uh, it's Georgia and
Texas playing playing this week, so like fans can interact

(27:59):
with each other, like Georgia fans can call the dogs
and Texas fans can do whatever they do, Egan horns
down whatever, you know, have some friendly competition in banners.
So it's really cool too. I'm excited to be a
part of it.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Yeah, I would say I spent five years in the South,
that covered Misissippi State, that covered Alabama every game. I
literally could not drink more. Doctor pevbow is the best
thing about covering games, So.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
I am for it.

Speaker 14 (28:25):
Let me show you stand up, per secon. Let me
see your shirt.

Speaker 15 (28:27):
Oh yeah, we got it on. We have the Doctor
Peppers shirt on.

Speaker 14 (28:30):
Okay, all right, I'm gonna have to get myself one
of those.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Glad.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Thank you very much for hanging out with us on
the Insiders continued luck this year.

Speaker 14 (28:38):
You guys are killing it. Cannot wait to see it
going forward.

Speaker 15 (28:41):
Yes, sir, thank you, I appreciate it.

Speaker 8 (28:43):
Well.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
The Chargers offense has been playing well, Not so much
the Packers offense.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
Look at this.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
Their defense has allowed fewer than seventeen points in each
of their three losses. Only two teams in history have
more such losses. The two thousand and eight Browns and
they finished four and twelve, and the two thousand and
seven Dolphins they finished one and fifteen.

Speaker 7 (29:03):
Yikes.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
Very bad company for the Packers to be in right now.
It is certainly overreaction season, and that means it's time
to bring in our Jeffrey Chadia and Mark Ross we're
going to talk about Jeffries a first read column this
week which focuses on overreactions that you are not sweating.
So let's go straight to the Packers. Lafleur's job security.

Speaker 16 (29:25):
I know Matt Lafleur was asked about this after that game, Judy,
but I'm going to be on his side. The Packers
have missed the playoffs only one time in a six
years he's been the head coach.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
You had a triggling on offense.

Speaker 16 (29:34):
They've only got thirty points in those three losses they have,
but there's still very much to the NFC North race.
At the very least, they're going to be a wild card.
I have a feeling that Matt Lafleur is going to
be appreciated as the season goes on because he's done
a pretty good job.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
Of coaching this team. Yeah, he's got a county in extension.

Speaker 16 (29:50):
He's got to figure out Mark, but he's gotten this
team pretty far in the past.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (29:54):
I thought he really was underrated coming into this season.
Cover them during training camp and the consistency was the
thing where I thought he was underrated. But it is
kind of shocking this year to see them be so inconsistent.
I mean, two weeks ago against Pittsburgh, they end the
opening game against the lines look like the best team
in football, and now the last couple of weeks they
can't even get a first down. So the best thing

(30:16):
about this form Matt Lafore the rest of the year,
he can writ in this ship and go get a
new contract.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
All right, Jeffery, you are not overreacting to the Buffalo
Bills getting wiped out by the Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 13 (30:28):
No.

Speaker 16 (30:28):
Look, I've seen them play tough game with Miami every year.
It feels like at least once or twice a year
that happens. It's a divisional game, so don't put much
stock on that, and they're coming off a big win
over Kansas City. I imagine this was a letdown game
for them. But I have a good feeling about Buffalo
moving forward. They tend to play really well in the
second half. Josh Allen, James Cook, the defenses come around,

(30:49):
this is going to be a blit for them. This
still feels like a team Mark that's going to end
up about twelve thirteen wins by.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
Times is all said and done.

Speaker 12 (30:55):
Yeah, as long as you have Josh Allen you're going
to be in the mix, and Shoan McDermott talk about
good consistent code, which is that was a shock.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Even though Miami has played them tough.

Speaker 12 (31:02):
To go down there and actually lose and just look
unprepared was shocking.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
But they do have some serious flaws.

Speaker 12 (31:08):
Thirtieth in the league in the first run defense, and
then I'm just worried about the playmakers on offense outside
of Josh Allen, if he's going to have to do
too much against the better teams.

Speaker 6 (31:18):
Judy Jeffrey, what do you make about the Denver Broncos
offense and they're very slow starts.

Speaker 16 (31:23):
Well, I was there for that game on Thursday night
and I'm still recovering from I got some PTSD that
happened from That's kind of like Mark watching like Brown
be Prenceton in Equestrian or something like that. But bow
Knicks is Boon Knicks. This team is built on defense,
It's built on run game. That defense has forty six
sacks through ten games.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
I imagine Sean.

Speaker 16 (31:42):
Payton has some tricked up his sleeve to play out
in the second half with this game against Kannas City
coming up.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
I don't think Denver's offense going to look that bad,
h Asi the Chiefs this coming week.

Speaker 12 (31:52):
Mark, Well, the concern is where what is the ceiling
for this team? This defense is going to keep them
in every game this season. They could win flat win games.
They they've done for most of the season. But what
is the ceiling for Botnicks and this offense to go
get a Buffalo? Who beat a Buffalo we just talked about,
to beat Kansas City, to beat the Ravens, to beat
the better teams in the AFC. Is this just, hey,

(32:13):
a nice good team that may win or compete for
a playoff spot, or is this a true Super Bowl
contender with the Flaws?

Speaker 7 (32:18):
All right? For more of Jeffrey just chilling.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
He's not overreacting to anything right now, go to nfl
dot com slash first Read. You should be reading it
every week anyway.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Week ten is over, not quite week eleven. You know
what that means.

Speaker 8 (32:32):
Waiver Wire times. We go inside with NFL Fantasy Live
and our guy Michael f Florio, who says, you got
to get some claims in for these dudes right here
that we're about to lay out for you. At every
position here except defense. Ian does IDP. I think it's dumb.
Jacoby Brissett. He's not here to defend himself.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Jacoby.

Speaker 8 (32:49):
Jacobys said quarterback should we be claiming at the quarterback position?

Speaker 17 (32:54):
Jacoby Pressett, Jacobyssett, who I know the outside has might
need some quarterback help. This guy averaged one fantasy points
per game in his four starts.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
That is more than Herbert.

Speaker 17 (33:04):
Domes Dak Baker at least nineteen in every start, so
it's a safe floor. And he gets the forty nine
ers who have allowed nineteen or more fantasy points to
quarterbacks in five of their last six games. So a
sneaky start this week and some favorable matchups ahead, so
we might not just be a one week thing. Also,
just want to say, check if the Bengals Joe's are
out there, because they should be rostered as well.

Speaker 8 (33:26):
The Bengals Joe's, Joe Barrow, Oh, both Joe's. I got it, Okay,
you know what I should check that? I should see
if he was dropped. Meanwhile, you tell us a running back,
and I totally don't have a list of who's in
front of me, so I don't know who you're going
to say.

Speaker 17 (33:39):
Sean Tucker because earning more work lately, eleven or more
opportunities in each of his last two games.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
But what I love, nineteen.

Speaker 17 (33:49):
Percent of his runs in that span have been explosed
to ten or more yards, and that span where Sean
White has zero and the Bills have allowed explosive runs
at the fourth highest rate this year. So I think
Tucker is in play as a sleeper this week, and
with Bucky Irvings still very much up in the air,
he could become even more than just a one week thing,
maybe a flex option moving forward.

Speaker 8 (34:11):
Joe Burrow is available and I am totally not going
to put a waiverclaim in for him, just in case
somebody in our league is watching wide receiver who woked
shoulder the burden of nevermind, God.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I see what you did there. Luther Burden the third look.

Speaker 17 (34:30):
I'm no Baldy, but every year around the NFL Draft
I watch a ton of college games, and Burden was
a prospect I was enamored with. Extremely tough to tackle,
he could win after the catch. I think he's better
downfield than he gets credit for, and he's starting to
get more utilized. Last week he played a season high
forty nine percent of snaps. There's a lot of buzz
about getting him more involved coming out of Chicago.

Speaker 7 (34:52):
DJ Moors banged up, so he's.

Speaker 17 (34:54):
Free upside that you could get off the waiver wire
right now.

Speaker 8 (34:56):
And finally, who should someone pick up if they're tight
end position and is soft as cotton which is spelled
see Aughton.

Speaker 17 (35:04):
There's no cotton about that, shepro kept saying. Look, twelve
targets last week for Caid and since Week five with
the Bucks very banged up, he's averaging over twelve Fantasy
points per game and he has double digits in all
but one in that span, so a save floor, some
upside there, And I know the Bills are the toughest

(35:24):
matchup for tight ends, but I think this is going
to be a high scoring game. The Bucks could be
chasing points and for me is a sneaky start.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
But there's a lot of good tight ends out there.

Speaker 17 (35:35):
It's a good streaming quarterback week, and then there's upside
plays at wide receiver and a couple of running backs
who are just an injury away from becoming an RB one.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
So lots of good names for you to grab out
there on.

Speaker 8 (35:46):
The waiver wire this week. From our newsroom, via text.
These t ups are ridiculous. I didn't mean to do it.
I just I tipped off the first one, so I kind.

Speaker 9 (35:53):
Of sort of counted on it the next one.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Stop it.

Speaker 8 (35:57):
Loll well, good news for you, Clayton. The segment is over.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Michael F.

Speaker 8 (36:02):
Florio, give me you the advice on who to put
those waiver claims in Florida God in the waiver wire.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Order be with you.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Patriots Jets on Thursday night to kick off week eleven,
and the Patriots will be dressing as the Chargers. Now,
actually these are there Nor'easter Rivalry uniforms. They will be
debuting for the first time on Thursday. Now, let's welcome
in Sam Schwartztein, our buddy Prime Video and tnf's analytics expert,
to go deep into this matchup. Sam, I won't get

(36:32):
your uniform takes. Give me a Drake May take. He's
obviously played really well in year two, maybe even MVP
can it.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
What's he doing well?

Speaker 18 (36:40):
I mean it's bringing back color Rush Thursdays with the
rivalry uniforms. But Drake May's performing at MVP level and
we can see that analytically from his drop back EPA
drop back EPA measures almost everything you do, the results
of the play that down in distance to see which
players helping their team chance of scoring the most in
the NFL, and this trick is actually the best at

(37:01):
predicting who will win the MVP. Fifteen in the past
seventeen years, the leader in dropback EPA won the MVP.
And it's showing up on film too. He's checking into
the right place, he's throwing one under pressure, and he's
making the big play. Drake May has taken the biggest
jump from year one to year two at a quarterback
we've seen in so many years. I think it's going

(37:22):
to be only signs for things to come for Drake May.
Is now the Patriots lead the NFC AFC East.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Well, whenever you're talking to scouts, they always talking about
what's the player's dominant traite, their elite trade that they're
going to be able to fall back on. You see
that with all the different quarterbacks from Lamar to josh
Allen Mahomes on down what is Drake May's dominant trait?

Speaker 18 (37:42):
I mean, you can't teach the deep ball and he
has that in spades, the ability to throw over twenty
ear yards that's twenty yards in the line of scrimmage.
He's one of the best of the NFL and just
completing those passes. Fifty seven point one percent of his
deep passes have been completed. That's sixteen point three percent
over expected. We're using AI and machine learning to identify
what an average quarterback complete in these same spots. He's

(38:04):
helped out by some great wide receivers Kashawn Booty Stefan
Diggs to the highest in the NFL in that deep
ball has rating. And then when we think about the
EPA that he's generated from that, we said seventy three
EPA on overall this season, forty three points six EPA
has been generated just on these deep balls.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Brice Hall was a name we heard quite a bit
around the trade deadline. There were some rumors that the
Chiefs had made an offer, which by the way, did
not actually happen. Tell me about Brice Hall coming off
of a couple of really good games, share what he
means to that Jets offense.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yeah, Breece Hall.

Speaker 18 (38:36):
He can move, he can scoot, everyone knows that, But
it's all about the blocking up front that he gets
to him. When you're using next gen Stats Expected rushing Model,
which is machine learning to identify how many yards would
average running back gett those snartos when you look at
just the ones that are isolated to get five yards,
Bristol is one of the best in the NFL seven
points six yards per rush. The problem is on those
plays where they don't block well for him, it's only

(38:56):
around three yards per carry. And this is an explosive backfield.
They are the four with the most runs over ten
yards in the NFL at thirty seven. Problem is they're
not consistent enough. Their success rate is only forty percent.
That's twenty fifth in the NFL. But here's how they
can win this game. The linebackers for the Patriots are
the weakest part of their defense. Their ability to run sideline.

(39:16):
The sideline cannot match up with the backfield speed of
the Jets.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Check out Sam on the prime video at next Gen
stat Stream every Thursday night. Nobody better. He's calling out
plays like Tony Romo. Sam, thank you as always. Time
right now to go and vote if you will, you
can keep walking the show while you do it. NFL

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
