Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's The Alley and Donovan Show, featuring Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Alie mar Peth and Donovan Smith. Now here's your host
bucks team reporter Casey Phillips. Welcome into The Alley and
Donovan Show, Week one, And if you were a fan
of the radio show we had a couple of years ago,

(00:24):
we feel like we were back. We know there's probably
a lot of new people as well, so we're gonna
do a lot of get to know the guys, get
to know the show, and it's gonna be like, I'm
team reporter Casey Phillis, are you guys excited about this?
Very your first TV show. I'm very excited. I kind
of don't know what to do. I don't know what
We look good. That's the key that's looking at the camera.
You can look at you can also look at us.

(00:46):
It's all fine. Everything's fine. Wherever you want to look
is all fine. Okay, We're gonna get to know them
in a little bit for those of you who don't
know them. But we gotta start out with that epic
win in New Orleans. That was incredible. So to start
the year going at a division rival in their home
turf and against a guy like Drew Brees and get
that win. What do you feel like that did for
you guys as a team. I think it just sort

(01:06):
of reinforced the belief that we have in ourselves or um,
it's good. We we we kind of knew the team
we were we are going into the game, but to
actually have it play out the way that it did
is always as huge for our confidence moving forward. And
it was fun and especially the offense. I mean, you
guys had to just be having so much fun out
there putting up so many yards and points how many

(01:30):
time only they didn't You didn't punt for the first
time until like seven minutes left in the third quarter.
Like it was crazy. I love the explosive plays I do,
but so like every celebration, I just it was too far.
I just turned back to Fitzy not chasing that down. Yeah,
I'm just gonna hang out with him. You acted like,

(01:51):
really you just wanted to celebrate with him. It was
actually like, yall are a little too far away. So
that's pretty great judgment call. And speaking of its, how
epic was his performance and just what is it like
to get to watch a guy like him get to
have a game like that. That was good. Um, you know,
he always comes into work ready and fits does a
great job at like just keeping everybody level head. You know.

(02:12):
It's pretty cool though he went out there in bald
that's gotta be funny. He is level headed, but he's
also like incredibly funny. I feel like he's such an
interesting dynamic and got to play with. He does play
a path like you have to love the game if
you're playing it. When how old? Is like if you're
it's too hard of a game to like before years? Yeah?
Whatever it is like, so he obviously has that level
the game. And like, again I think other guys pick

(02:36):
up on it. When are you fourteen years ago? Well?
Year is it? Give me a here? Wow? First of all,
you're not old enough to be like not able to
do that math and four yep, how old are you?
How old are you now? Middle school? I was in
middle school? Middle school? So when Fitzy started in the league,
you'll were in middle school, right, yeah? Oh seven was

(02:58):
eighth grade? Yeah, it's like fifth or six ply. Oh
my gosh, Please tell me you have pointed that out
to him, And if not, I haven't. I think you're
going to need to do that in the Chubby donny
glasses and he was already in the NFL. You guys
were in peak middle school awkwardness and he was already
in the NFL. I think you need to bring Oh
you weren't awkward, and yeah, I was like, we could

(03:21):
have evidence if we need to bust that out that
you were awkward in middle on the intro, Yeah, that
was me in middle school. Hold, that was literally Wow,
that's pretty incredible. I enjoyed that. Uh, and you guys
were giving him a whole lot of time. You talk
to those big plays. He's gotta have time to get

(03:42):
the guys down there to make those big plays. You
guys are giving Peyton Barber huge holes to run through. Overall,
how do you feel like the old line performance win? Good? Um?
Obviously we could be better. Uh, you know my part
ali part all the way through the line. Um, we
left some plays out on the field, but you know
that's all we this and watch film and do all
that this stuff. Yeah. Again, I think we definitely could

(04:05):
have done a better job. But really, our receivers and
fits and Peyton played phenomenal, so really just made our
jobs easier. Seven and complete passes. I think, yeah, yeah,
his perfect passeraining through first half, Like that's that's incredible.
I wonder we got off fantasy were yeah, fantasy people
who had him or who didn't have him. It was

(04:25):
it was getting picked up this week. Yeah, you know
he's getting picked up with ton no pressure to him
this you know, this next game or anythink there's just
gonna be a lot of people relying on him again
in my family. My family has a fantasy league, UM,
and I think someone's already called DIBs on him. That's incredible.
And you kept a certain streak alive. Was that something
you were thinking about? Your Iron Man streak? Never missed

(04:46):
a game and you've gotten hurt before the game Bravos
or bravo? So was that Was that a big deal
for you to keep that streak going? It was, you know,
I did a great job with the trainers in there,
coming in and you'd I was in here probably three
times a day, uh eight, the three UM aid them
one at three just rehab treatment and he paid all.

(05:10):
That's awesome. That's huge. And you you were in a
wee bit of a little tussle on the field, Ryan,
I'm not the starter of the Yeah that's true. No,
I'm not gonna start a fight with someone, but if
I see a little tussle going, you aren't going to
start it. But I finished, I got my guys back,
So like if there is an issue or something like

(05:31):
that aspect, yeah, so like that's not bad. You have
to put you there. There's a fine line. There's like
you have to and force without getting a penalty. So
like one thing I learned after my rookie year was
to pull guys in, so instead of pushing them, because
if you push them they all flopping. It's like we're
not going to do. What do you pull them in?

(05:52):
And there? What hey, we're not doing? Is that seriously?
Oh my gosh, I was like, I imagine that gets
you laughed off the field. There's I'm assuming other things
and no, no like that. That's amazing. And then you
were rather excited after the game, and I happened to
be right at the perfect spot to catch video of

(06:15):
just how excited you were. And we have the video,
so tell me the thoughts here. Yeah I saw this. Yeah, yeah,
that's a passionate man right there. We checked on Monkin
since then, any any whiplash, any I didn't see him
with a neck by you. I think that's one of

(06:39):
my favorite things I've ever seen. And have you ever
reacted like this before? No, I'm very you can actually
I'm very like so during the game. Yeah, he's he's
super even keel. I mean there are times, I guess
after big players, there's a couple of times. Yeah, after
a big players something like that, we're all celebrate. That's

(07:00):
that's a lot. That's a lot of that's excessive. That
excessive celebration. All right, Well, now, since we just because
you guys know each other pretty well, we want to
help people get to know you a little bit, we're
gonna start playing the Newlywed game. We're gonna play a
little bit in this segment, and then I know we're
gonna pick it up again in the next timent. Go
and grab those white boards you have over by your chair. Here,
this is how we're going to write down our answers.

(07:21):
Do you guys know? Do you Yes? I'm surprising them
with this, so there's no prep here. They do not
know the questions I'm gonna ask. They did not know
we were playing this game at all. So we're gonna
play how well do you two know each other, which
will then help our fans get to know both of
you as well, so there can be a winner and
loser in this, because I know competitiveness always helps a
little bit. Um. Okay, so our first question, yes, why

(07:45):
you have to write, and we're gonna turn around the
same time. Stop reading my games, stop reading my game,
play along, play by the rules, play by the rules. Okay,
So our first question, if it's about you, you're going
to write the true, the correct answer, and he's going
to write what he thinks. The answer is about you.
Everybody get it and and well there are all some
of them that nothing. The answer is nothing. First question
is what did Ali's parents do for work when he

(08:06):
was growing up? You have to write your correct answer,
and then we're going to see if Donovan gets it right.
This isn't okay? All right and ready? And I just
don't be out to script. Yeah, I like he's like,
I just like, okay, we'll be able to explain it again. Yes,
although you're he's getting very detailed over with this. This

(08:29):
is very nice. Are you? I think you think you're good?
You can there we go all right and flip and
fashion bandon fashion and like you even got the name right. Okay,
so first of all, howlaws on prozact but like that
is very close, very but yes he gets the whole
thing correct because that's a lot of details, So explain

(08:52):
the answers. Yeah, so my mom was in a band
when I was growing up. How's laws on Prozact? Mom? Mom?
Maybe they should have gone with um? And my dad
has a video production company where he films fashion shows
in New York. So that Donovan already at a point
this is I've already lost my your a little towel, okay, Leno,

(09:14):
we got some paper taels too as well. All right,
we got the towels. Okay, our next question, what is
Donovan's favorite hobby? No cheating and Philip bowling? Point for
both of you, pay for both of you? And why
do you love bowling so much? Um? It's huge my

(09:35):
mom did it, grandmother, brother, sisters, just a way to
us to compete. What's your average? Oh it sounds like
he's not happy about this. Also, he just turned into
the beast right now? Okay, that's I mean, if you're so,
that's pretty good actually to not be Yeah, this is great. Okay,
we have a lot more of these questions. The next one,

(09:56):
I will go ahead and give you the hint. It's
which one of you has the worst habit? So I
feel like things could get a little into contentious. So
on that note, we're gonna take a quick break and
we'll be right back. Welcome back into the Alien Donovan Show.
We're in the middle of the newlywed game scene how
well they know each other? To help you get to
know them better as well? And I asked a slightly

(10:16):
contentious question, so hopefully no fights breaking. Already cast a
conflict on this show. It's it's terrible. So I asked
what Alley's worst habit is, So go ahead and flip around.
I said, a dirty locker. That's what I thought you
were going to say. He said, sweaty, Paul, sweat in general.

(10:37):
That's fair. I don't know if that's a habit. That's
just like something I deal with, all right, fair enough,
dirty locker? Yeah, He's like, yeah, you got that too,
So he got real specific on that one. Sweat. Also,
if y'all held out on the show, yeah, I like that.

(11:02):
So because very kinds, that's incredible. I was about to
ask if y'all were holding hands and meetings or something,
and why you knew this? You know? Now you can
get some revenge. It's time for Donovan's worst habit. So
now see, you set yourself up here, you went all in,

(11:22):
and now he has to answered about you. Okay, I
don't always have it. Now he's like, okay in that case,
there's no I mean, all right, flow it around loud
music and yeah, okay, so let's fix it. We're fixing this. Yeah,

(11:51):
chocolate chip No, obviously, Why why are cookies a bad habit?
It's just the part of the diet sucker for chocolate
chip cookies? You soccer? That's true, that's pretty funny. Okay,
that's all right. Uh we have maybe one or two
more here. All right? What was this? One's tough? If
you get this, I'm gonna be real impressed. What was

(12:11):
Donovan's nickname as a kid. We talked about on the
radio show a couple of years ago. Come on, Ali,
do you know it? And you came up it's a
food that I don't don't you got nothing, pick something, choose,
just go for it. Don't you cheat, don't you cheat?

(12:34):
But I have to live it around he's like cookies
saw okay, remind us of the story of why my
middle name is Cole so my twin sister and brothers
and then would just call me cole slaw. Yeah, that's
pretty It wasn't even about that. I can't. I'm so sad. Okay,
last one. I'm sorry, man, this is the last one here,

(12:56):
which one of you is smoother with the ladies. You
have to write your aunt sir every time he's writing,
like an essay over here, make it simple? Yeah, alright,
flipping around. He even answered you. He even the full name,
just so there wasn't any confusion. He plays his game.

(13:16):
He knows the game. He knows that's part of it.
But you have to be good at the game because
you don't want to be rejected. He guys. He's like
afraid of rejection. So he plays like I really am
and you're like, oh no, there's no reason to be
a friend. He's just a kid playing up that all
I've seen it in in a thousand times. Did you just

(13:37):
basically spoil his game forever? Now, like all the ladies
out there watching are now I'm going to be like yeah,
now they know, they know there's more there's more subtleties
the game from it. That's one of the games, one
of the games we still have toimes. We're coming up
here on the Alley and Donovan Shows, so don't go anywhere.
We'll be right back. Welcome back into the Alley and

(14:01):
Donovan Show. Earlier we were showing how well they knew
each other, and now we also know the things that
you want to ask them. We're going to take some
fan questions. You can also tweet at us with all
of your questions you want answered on the show every week.
And then in a minute, we're gonna get to one
of our favorite segments we had on the radio show,
Big Man Struggles. That's going to be a recurring It's

(14:22):
going to be a recurring theme. So let's begin with
the fan questions. Believe me, you will want to stay
around for the Big Man Struggles. Jackie wants to know,
is Ali's still borrowing Donovan's clothes? Okay, so I don't
know if I borrowed like many clothes like I had borrowed.
I think shoes, I think that's it, right, Maybe a
T shirt or two. I gave you a Burberry p

(14:47):
Burberry Polo and shoes, And yes, I still have the
shoes you gave back the Polos. It's a little it's
actually tight. I don't know what unless have done something,
but I don't want to drive something. He borrowed it
and ruined it, is what I'm hearing. He was too
definitely too tight for him. That's why I got it. Okay,

(15:08):
then that's better. That's and so you still have the shoes.
For people who don't know the story, why do you
have Donovan the shoes? I didn't have any good dress shoes.
Rookie year. Yeah, rookie year. And I said, Ali, what
are you doing? Because you were just so disgraced by
what he had on his feet that you were like,
you made these more than me. I don't even know
if I had anything. You didn't have any dress shoes.
You did. I don't know what it was. They were

(15:28):
something real sketchy I've made. So I wanted to get
new shoes. I just haven't gotten around two in three years.
So you still are wearing the year four. You're rocking
Donovan clart. It's nice. That's still kinda alright. The second
half of this question was has Ali convinced Donovan the
Hawaiian shirts are a fashion forward look. Yeah, yeah, you're

(15:53):
really like three wow? Oh yeah. Next week all Hawaiian
shirts and all three of us are gonna be wearing them.
I'm not going to show up and be the only one. Okay,
this is what I like to say. Yes, he convinced you.
I like it. Okay. Buck fan said who would win
in an arm wrestling match between you two? I'm also

(16:15):
first of all offended I was not included on this,
you know, discussion of which one of us would win.
I think I have a decent shot. I'm going to
say impossible to the side based on the sweaty palm situation,
the weather condition raindally so not not applicable here. Every

(16:40):
single time you go to start, just good question, good question.
Well now we have to do it because I got
to see this. Oh my gosh, Okay, it's incredible. And
then you have done him in the help you make

(17:00):
fun of yourself. We have more fan questions. We're gonna
get to those next week for sure, and keep sending
those in as well. The more ridiculous the better. Now
it's time for our favorite the big Man struggle. So
we this is a common thing that comes up is
that when you are as big as these two guys,
are there just things in life that are not built
for you, these chairs and that amazingly chairs was the

(17:22):
topic I was going to bring up, and so that
already works out. Well, tell me limit about the chairs.
They have to be why they have to be thirty
and it's yeah, I hear creaking and a little that's
just inable. It's the chairs settling. Yeah, it's perfect. Uh.

(17:43):
And how many issues with chairs have you guys each
had in your life? Are broken a couple? Do you think?
Probably too? Oh? Okay, sounds like you've broken more than two. Well,
there's some chairs like like if you include beach chairs,
uh like those like, oh, it sounds like didn't even
count those chairs if we're not including those, because those

(18:04):
don't everyone's broken those class I don't feel like I've
broken one of those. I just like those little foldable chairs. Gosh,
the worst situation you've had because of a chair being
too small? Was there like a super embarrassing moment or
thing that happened school? I broke a desk just like
it's just demolished. How old were you? High school? Struggles?

(18:29):
Struggles was the desk that you slided. Oh it's like
built in with the chair. Wow, not built It wasn't
even that big in high school and those were just
a nightmare. God, that's incredible. And so like when you
go somewhere like let's say a picnic, are you naturally
like thinking like you need to bring your own chair
instead of like b y o B. It's like b

(18:50):
y oc for you, guys. I can see this stand
up just anywhere. We had a family really even know Hi,
My mom had to get big man specific chairs, so
I was only allotted to certain there was the Alley chair,
big Man hip, and don't you break all these other
nice chairs we have because we actually my brother and

(19:10):
not even me, was the one who ended up breaking it.
You're supposed to send a big man chair and he didn't,
and he didn't do it. That's so tragic. I love it. Right,
We saw one more segment coming up next. We're gonna
get to looking at that Eagles game home opener. Don't
go anywhere. It's time for our final segment here on
The Alley and Donovan Show. But thankfully we have this

(19:31):
all year and we've already just in the Brake discussed
so many more big man struggles we want to go over,
but we're not going to give them all to do.
You know, you gotta keep coming back. It's a tease.
That's how we handle it. So Philly at home this
next week, How are you guys feeling about taking on
the defending Super Bowl champs home opener like this is?
Everybody says, oh, it's one game. Every game is one game,
but I have to imagine it doesn't really feel like

(19:51):
just one game. It's fair. Yeah, So I think for
us it's it's just a great opportunity to play a
good team at home, which we love being the home opener. Uh.
For us, it's another way just to keep establishing the
confidence in the dominance that we want to have this year. Yeah,
for sure. And then uh, you know that's that's the standard.
So you know, you go out there play your best

(20:12):
ball with the team that they say is the best. So,
I mean, I imagine that a win feels good no
matter what. But do wins feel a little different depending
on who you're playing? Yeah, So I think wins in
like the division, say I went on the tough win
on the road like against New Orleans. I think there
are some different wins, and I think, yeah, hole more weight,

(20:33):
and I think, uh, you know, being the defending champs
would be great for us. And what do you guys
know about Phillis defense? And are you going to try
to ask bow Allen and Vinny Curry for some some insights?
We've got some insider information. Insider info that's pretty handy. No,
wonder you guys decided to steal a couple of their alignment.
It's like, is that is that common for you guys
to ask people from former teams? Yeah, so I figured, yeah,

(20:56):
there are the Bucks now yah. Yeah, they know their
tea mates and know how they play. And I think
it's gonna they're just gonna are you guys here and
the the Philly defense is gonna be quite a task
for you guys. Yeah. I mean they've got a bunch
of talented guys and they've made some new acquisitions, specifically
on the defensive line. Yeah, we're gonna be trying to
put forty eight up again. Obviously that's you settling the

(21:17):
shore sixty sixty. Yeah, that's that's very true. So we
I mean, now whatever, this is what we're gonna go for. Now,
this is the new this is the new goal. I
like it. Oh yeah, you know, we won't talk about that.
It's fine. This this is y'all show. You don't have
to talk about that stuff. That's where everybody else's show.

(21:39):
It's not ours and here, you guys never do anything
wrong in here in this show. This is where everybody's perfect.
No statty problem. Is nothing bad happening here? All right?
That's gonna do it for us on week one of
The Alien Ottoman Show, and make sure you're back here
every single week for more big man struggles, fan questions,
them telling about some awkwardness that the other person does.
It's it's really great. Yeah, so I'm gonna show my sweatstains.

(22:01):
I'm You're deal without pep you next time when I'm
not wearing a grace shop. Yep, we'll see you next
time
