On the latest NFL Players: Second Acts Podcast, Peanut and Roman are joined by two legendary icons of the game, Deion Sanders and Lawrence Taylor. Deion shares what a successful season will look like for the Colorado Buffaloes and how last year they instilled hope, but this year they’ll live up to expectations. He mentions how he doesn’t inherit a legacy, he builds it, debunking any rumors of him joining the SEC. He also opens up about overcoming a dark period and living a life of gratitude each day. Then, Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, aka L.T., joins the show. He talks about the evolution of the rules of the game and how he would probably end up owing the NFL money after each season if he were playing today. He then shares with the duo what separated him from any other linebacker, and why he's considered the greatest defensive player in NFL History.

Appreciate that, man, keep it going.

So over the next couple of weeks, we'll be rolling
out a lot of our podcasts. I know the other

right now we're gonna show you.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Deon.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Hold up, let's not just skip over that these are
the two considerably the two best defensive players in NFL history.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Now roll it.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I didn't I didn't mean any disrespect by that Coach
Prime in LT. But anyway, right now we're gonna roll
it to you. Check out Coach Prime, our next guest.
I don't even need to read a resume like just the.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Goat of all time.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
We dB three DB's. He was here last year, ladies, gentleman,
Deon Sims Prime.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Come on, but you know what, I.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Man, I'm upset that only time I get to be
on with y'all to see y'all is here in the
Super Bowl, and I don't like that.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Like it? What's up?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I tell you we need to come you come out
the Bowler, but at least list give me a couple
of times.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
You something?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, I got you, all right your DB's.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I heard this petup punch and said, we got to
I got you.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
No, I want you now come out there. I'm putting
you to work. Now, Hey, I can't put your work.
We're gonna do this. I got what you're gonna Coach.
I let you know your DV you. You'll lead the
conference and and force that you don't really mess with
the Big twelve and all that.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
But I need you to take off your hat over
and put on his hat and.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
I need you.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Hey, look, I mean a prime call. I got the
show up. I want you, and like you said, I
ain't hard to find.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I want to let's talk about this real quick, because
you're here. You used to be the forty nine ers.
I loved you when you were there. Who you picking
the to win the game? That's tough because I love
me some Travis Kelson.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You gotta understand that's that's the dog, that's the like,
that's that that's that prime tight end.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
You know that he comes back. Yeah all day, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
But I'm an underdog type guy. Man.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I love brought pretty the best story and probably two
decades what he's accomplished, and you know, people underestimate his
importance with this offense. But if I'm saying, Fran, I'm
taking away Kelsey and I'm making you beat me with
your other weapons.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, and it's.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Hard to take away all those weapons that San Fran had,
I agree So with that saying who I like I
like a certain team, but I love me some Travis Kelsey,
all right, all right, I do.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
So.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
One of the things that you said numerous time was
your job was to retire your mama. It's right, and
you've you've done that, and she's done a hell of
a job raising you. And I think what she's done
with you, you and what you've done with your kids, all
the blessings, and now your kids brought you a home.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
What they didn't buy it.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
We're home shopping, home shopping. So they wanted me to
see a certain home, and they wanted me comfortable because
especially with Shiloh, all he has to do is running
four or five and I think he'll be in the
first round as a safety. Shandor is Shandor's are cold
be the first pick of the whole draft.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
You know that.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
So they're gonna be straight. And Junior is killing it
on YouTube. You know, yeah, you saw the video killing it.
So I love the gesture. But I wouldn't be the
man that I am if I allowed my kids to
make a purchase of that magnitude. Right now, we just
purchased like almost two hundred more acres behind the acres
that we already have because I want in the long run,
I want them to Bill Holmes right there. I just

(04:24):
sent them a legacy. I just sent them something on
the ground yesterday was two brothers built identical homes and
they put a lake in between two twin brothers, and
I sent them that. I said, that's what I want
for y'all. I want y'all shot like I don't want
to live about your door. You know you always get
that one son. Yeah, but Buckie and you know Junior

(04:45):
and stra Door, they definitely will pu shallow up be
out there so that I want them all at the
end of the day to come back home one day.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
So last year, you know, football wise, at Colorado, you
burst on the scene, took over the national college football
by storm.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I had an opportunity.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
They brought me on Saturday morning ABC More National Show
to talk about Dion Sanders and I don't even cover you,
but that is what you did in college football last year. Fact,
what is what does a successful season look like?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
This year?

Speaker 1 (05:17):
I saw you bringing in thirty one recruits. Yeah, only
seven from high school. But it's the way you're doing
it is your way is my way. I love it.
But what does a successful season look like for Dion
Sanders in the Colorado buff.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Last year, we instill hope this year we're gonna live
up to expectation. Last year, we instill hope. We got
our bus kicked twice. The rest of the games, we
were within seven points. Yes a victory. We just didn't
have enough dogs to win. We didn't have enough understanding
to go to that next level. We went and got them.
Now we started. I started outside in because my tractability

(05:53):
is for the skill position.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Ye, so our skills positions.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Were phenomenal last year, but we were suffering up front
on both lanes. So now I went out and signed
seven linemen to protect your door. I went out and
signed several dogs on the defensive side to go after
the quarterback and go and sign two more corners so
we could bump all day at night. So we feel
like we have the formula. Now we have the people
in house. We change both coordinators, and both coordinators have

(06:19):
matriculated from the NFL.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
So you know, I love handling recruiting.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
They love it because you gotta understand when you go
into a school with your Colorado stuff on, it's a
whole like it's like it's the King is here, Like
they get welcome flowers throwing at their feet, like they
absolutely love it. And we have a recruiting team that
is awesome. And eighty five percent of the young men

(06:45):
that come to Colorado on a visit, we sign them
eighty five percent, So we have a rate of success
rate that's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
We just got to get them there.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
But I love what we have in house right now
and the expectation we're gonna live up to it.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
But I think the schedule is a little bit more manageable. Well,
you had some really really tough home games.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
The Big Twelve was Quarterback Central.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, and you know, to have a good team, you
got to start out with a good quarterback, and we
played against some really good quarterbacks. Yes, I'm sorry the
Pack twelve last year, Big twelve. Where we're going into
this year. I'm not saying the quarterbacks are not great,
they're good, but it's much more manageable.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
No, norec see the top of that that whole conference.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
You know, what's your door better be at the top
of the whole college football forget to come there.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
It is.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, we got great coaches. You're becoming a great coach.
You're on your way.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Do you think we've seen.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
The last of the old school of great coaches with
Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, Nick Saban?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
No, because you gotta understand, it's not that they passed
their time. They just accomplished so much. It's like why
some things, It's like, why why am I putting up
with this? Why am I condoning this? Why am I
doing this? Would have already accomplished all this. Sometimes you
reach that level and that understanding, and uh, those guys
will forever be they set the standard.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Man.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah, I don't believe nobody would ever accomplish what coach
saban is accomplished or coach Belichick.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I don't think that would ever happen. Yeah, And I.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Don't think people if you don't, if you don't follow
the college space. The scheduling of the college space is
so tough right now because of the where the transfer
reporter opens up at the end of the year, and
then you also got to get ready for bowl games.
You gotta you know, all these things are happening in
the early signing period is right around the corner.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
So it's a lot of things going on, going on,
all in the same time.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Now, you did tweet something when Marlin Humphrey Ravens dB
tweeted something about Bill Belichick and he, you know, six
out of six coaches or six out of six coaching
jobs and you didn't get one. And I think your
tweet was like, Lord, have mercy, he don't know what
he's doing.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
I said, Lord, man, mercy, let's pray it.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, let's pray for him something.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
You can't do that, man, No, it's completely you can't
come on man like I'm an old school like what
we were taught. If you ain't got none to say,
don't say none at all. But I'm so old school
that I'm gonna give homage to like you guys, what
you accomplish, what you your tenure, that you played. Just
this is just a level of respect that we were
birth with. Man, we were taught with. Like, you can't

(09:13):
do that, like nobody, How can you have the gall
to put your mouth on Bill Belichick? Man, don't just
Bill Belichick please. I didn't appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
I want to say, all right, I want to know
this because you're a very personable coach.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Like people see you, they want to be a part
of it.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
And I don't even think you realize the power of
your spirit, your aura until we put all these cameras
around you all the time. You're like, you know what,
I think it is right and so understanding that you
are one of one.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
What do you think that does for you?

Speaker 1 (09:47):
As far as recruiting guys, allowing players to want to
be a part of what you're building, and you also
being able to sell them a dream as well.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Well, I'm not selling them anything. I'm really challenging them
to go get their dream back. You're right, You're right,
You're right.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
It's not easy, my brother.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
The reason is not easy because you're African American man
trying to do his best for your team, which is
based on probably seventy five percent African American young men,
and you're being shot at and attacked by not only media,
but some of the other coaches in this profession because
they know when.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
You get it rolling, it's a rap.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
When you get it rolling as a rap, Like if
I go in that living room, I don't give it
durn who got in there before me. I'm getting a
kid because I'm gonna be honest with him. I don't
need no script, no paperwork. It is what it is.
I'm gonna tell you what it is, and i'm gonna
tell you you're gonna have to earn every bit of it,
and I ain't giving you nothing.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
But when you leave here, you're gonna be a man.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
You're gonna make proper decisions, and I am the navigational
system to tell you how to get there when all
these other cats are playing, I don't need to use
a young man. I want to help a young man.
I'm not doing it for no bag. I'm not doing
it for no fame. I am who I am before
I got there, and when I leave, I'm still gonna
be that dude. So I'm doing it for a whole
different reason than I love it. So that's why I

(11:04):
trip out with They like he's gonna leave and go
to the sec what. I don't even have the legacy
I built it. Yeah, I'm not built like that, man.
I want my own thing.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I thought the most the funniest thing I saw from
you last year was when you guys lost the organ
and Dan Lanning.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Was he He was on one like this is the
same kid was clapping yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
And the thing is, I love your response, you like,
the problem is is that I ain't playing, and so
these people talk like they playing against me when it's
really the kids is playing. Because you know, if I
had to play against one on one, it wouldn't be close.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
It wouldn't be close.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
And so that's what I give you your props for
because no matter what they say, Number one is real.
You still stand on your own and you come from
a respect factor that has.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
To be I was raised that way man, and I've
never talked down on any opponent. I've never talked junk
to any opponent, contrary to what they said I said
on the field. Never in my life. I never said
nothing to opponent. I said something to the media about me,
but never down another man another opponent. I don't believe
in that. Neither do I condone that. So when these

(12:12):
coaches take their shots and tell these kids see our
recruits come and tell us everything, I mean, they got
it on they got it on video. They like, they
took the recording in the meeting, put the coaches and
they got it. I've heard these coaches kill us and
destroy us and talk about my character heard it too,
which is unduunbelievable to me. And we don't talk about nobody.

(12:32):
I don't allow my staff to talk about anyone as well.
So what are you doing with the almond board? Let
me read this because I want to get it right.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Oh please do. First of all, I'm an almonds guy. Yeah,
I eat. You're like all you guys eat good.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Nos. You guys still looking good because you eat right? Yes,
and you work out. So I believe in almonds, that
I believe in recovering, and I believe in recovery. And
I'm here today of California Almas to declare for February twelfth,
the day after that big game, because we can't call
it the name, you know, it's National Recovery Day. And
we're gonna start the off season all right and continue
putting in that work.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Man. I work every day. And see I'm always with
my kids. I mean the weight room with them.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
I'm trying now I could jog a little bit, so
I'm jogging with them. And I absolutely love it just
being there and getting my work in, man, I really do.
And I'm thankful that Almos as partner with me to
help me fulfill my dream and continue to live the
lifestyle I love.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
And you know, talking about that, this dream, this fitness
journey you've been on. I think it's amazing, especially through
all the injuries, the surgeries you've all documented that, we've
all got to see that. But I saw you running
the other day on your Instagram, and uh, you talked
about being the best you that you can be possibly be.
How important that is to continue to pass along that message.

(13:44):
And also I can't run like I used to, but
darn it, I can run, man.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
And how good does that feel?

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Too?

Speaker 5 (13:51):
You don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Where that came from, man, Like that came from four
o'clock in the morning on man's hitting that button that
pain relief and I'm about to I'm about to lose
my mind. And uh, never looking down at my leg
for the first time seeing two toes amputated in the
sides of my leg cut out, That's where that came
from those late nights in the hospital, man. And that

(14:13):
was tough to understand. You were this type of athlete.
Now you could bareter even walk like you in an
electric chair to even get around to coach. That stuff
came from a deep place, man. Yeah, And I'm thankful
and I thank God just to even to be able
to walk into run and try to keep up like
I once did.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Man, I love it.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
No, I felt that when you say thank you.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
All right, Well, you just heard Coach Prime talking to
us greatness, man, wisdom and not all that. But he
invited us the bowlers. So we're going, we're going, we come.
We ain't hard to find. We don't have we don't
have all the gear. I wanted to shade the whole night.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
We're all in. So look our next guest. We're gonna
roll them out.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Man possibly considered, in my opinion, the greatest defensive players.
It's still a bit in NFL and he's still kind
of scared, not gonna lie, very competitive.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
You see it in his eyes. And you're talking about
Lawrence Taylor.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Thanks for tuning in the NFL Player Second Acts Podcast.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
I'm Peanut Tillman and my guy Roman Harper. What's up baby?
What's so?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Man?

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I can't wait? Let's just jump right into it. Special
special guests here today. Greet that resume off, Peanut.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Go ahead, here we go.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
He has a wallet that says bad mother. I can't
say the rest, but you know what it is. I mean,
we can't say that.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
I don't want to say it. I'm not gonna say it.
I'll let him say it.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
He's a Hall of Famer, two time Super Bowl champ,
considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history.
He has a foundation Nady runs with his daughter. Ladies
and gentlemen, please.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Welcome mister Lawrence Taylor to the show, thank you or
to the pot.

Speaker 5 (15:55):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
First off, respect, respect, love, love your style of play.
Grew up watch and how you played the game. I'm
a fan of all your force fumbles and I think
we share a commonality. You know, we have a similarity
with the force fumbles. I just had to throw it
out there, man, just huge respect, huge respect.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I mean, do we It was just do we go
by mister LT.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Lauren Like, hey, LT called me a Lawrence LT. I
don't know. I just want to.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Show the correct amount of respect, right the greatest.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I love that. I love that.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
You already just set the tone that it's all over
where we can move on. So tell me this. You
just had a birthday February the fourth, You turned sixty five,
opposite of.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Fifty six, your number.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
What did you do for it? Was anything special? What
sets this birthday apart and making sure I had my medicate.
I've signed up for everything. I forgot about that, but
that aarp, my hill boy. I'll tell you what. That's
signed up for everything.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
So what's it I mean you, I don't know. I
feel like I'm in football royalty right now.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
What's it?

Speaker 1 (16:59):
What's it like being Lawrence Taylor? I know a couple
years back in the interview you said I enjoy being me?

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Like, what's it? What's it like being you? Every day?
With all the attention that you have? And what's your
name carries?

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Well? You know, God, I don't say all the attention
I mean is of course if you go out into
the public, see you're gonna get killed, okay, because it's
not killed, but you know everybody will recognize you, and
any want this and one of that. But I play
a lot of golf, you know what. Me and my

(17:31):
partner Trish, we go places together, we we eat together,
and I spend a lot of time at home. And
then I like seeing my grandkids. You know, I got
almost about fifteen of them, so I enjoy seeing them.
I enjoy playing with them, and I just enjoy life

(17:51):
right now. You know, it's not I think about sometimes
I may put turn on the TV and put off
football game, but very seldom. You know, if if you
want to watch football, don't come to my house. That's
because I ain't watching it. I'm serious. I don't you know.

(18:13):
Of course, when it gets dound to the Super Bowl
and the playoffs and stuff, you're gonna you're gonna watch
and stuff and and it's been exciting. Uh, but the
game has changed, you know, the game is listen. I
don't know if I can even if I can even
watch the games now on day and then go back

(18:34):
in and play the game in my head. I'm like, hey, man,
I would have took that check that guy's head off
if it was but out you.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
If you had no money, you gotta find a whole
lot of money.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
I've been the only guy in history that they're gonna
have to owe their money after after a contract that.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I got a question for you. You're talking about not
being able to play in today's game.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Now, what position would you play? Would you be like
a four, like a D lineman. I know you played
outside linebacker, but the you know, the offenses were so
different with all the spreads and all that, Like, what
would you probably play?

Speaker 5 (19:08):
I wouldn't see a changeing of my I wouldn't change
my position because I still uh covered as I played
that covered the past. I rushed the quarterback, I make tackles.
You know, I play special teams. I mean they I'll
be the same person Lawrence Taylor played specialty. Yes, yes,

(19:28):
that is new information for me. I put on your
best out there. Yeah, I'm one of.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Those that you are that you are so, I know
I have a foundation, Roma has a foundation, and we've
done some some work in our communities. Uh talk about
what you and your foundation doing. The Lawrence Taylor Family Foundation.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Oh wow, you know. Uh, I tell you my daughter
Tanisha Taylor Jones. Yeah, she really runs that foundation. And
nobody can talk bet better than her about better about
the foundation than she can. I'm gonna try to give
you some you know, some points. We try to educate.

(20:10):
We we're family oriented. We I mean the things that
we do it you just don't see people doing like
food drives mentorship. We're taking people on on the kids
on trips in the understand or connect with their their livelihood.

(20:36):
But I'll telling you a nobody can talk to good
as because I'm the face of it. I go and
we have a lot of events this week here in
Las Vegas. I show up that say, hey, I try
to show up and keep my mouth shut. Okay, you
know that's what mama says.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Smart.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Smart, Uh you know, I got it.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
I saw this in a video and I'm really truly
because Peanut does not have this, even though he already
give you credit for it. Do you really have film
or like of all your calls form fumbles in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Like, do you really have that somewhere?

Speaker 1 (21:14):
I do have all my you do? I do have
all my force fumbles in my phone. Just f y,
I'm throwing it out.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Somebody made a real for me. Oh and uh it yeah,
sixty six force fumbles. Okay, sixty six. They don't count
them all because you know, they didn't count fumbles and
stuff way back when I was playing. But yeah, I
got them all. I've seen them all.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
I would they are they on the phone? Like you
just got a real and it's just all there. That's amazing, Like,
I wish somebody cared about my.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Career that much.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
WHOA for your career?

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Eleven years?

Speaker 5 (21:48):
I see?

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Yay?

Speaker 5 (21:50):
I mean you dare already, you dare already. He didn't
get that.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
He didn't get the memo. I got thirty. I played thirteen,
so I got I got you want to see him?
I pull, I go to my little one drive. I'll
pull or drop boxcuse me, I can go to drop
box right now. I got the file. Boom, I hit
it drop I got thumb drive. Yeah, I got the
wide copy and I got the tight copy. You got
all that I got? Yeah, I got like the game film.

(22:16):
I got the wide game film that we that we watched.
And then I got the tight copy. I got all
twenty two, and then I got like all like the
back copy of like Lineman or whatever.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Didn't even know that.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Now, out of these sixty six force fumbles, do you
think it's more or less?

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Like?

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Do you think you have more than that? Or you
you cool with sixty six?

Speaker 5 (22:33):
I'm cool with sixty six right now, okay, and am
cool with that. But you know what, I tell you what.
I look at the films and I look at the game,
and I don't not that much anymore. But I was.
I was pretty I was pretty pretty tough. And that's
why you select that. What's the difference between tall back

(22:56):
in another linebacker. Well, one player and another player. You know,
my way of playing is not just making the tackle.
I got to separate you from the ball. Yes, Okay,
Once I separate you for the ball, that I can
do whatever I want with you on the ground.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Now, out of the sixty six, I got forty four,
and I got a favorite one out.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Of forty four.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Okay, out of your sixty six, what's probably one of
your favorite ones?

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Force fumbles?

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Force fumbles? Oh god, the.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
One that just kind of stands out is like, you
know what, Yeah, that's probably I remember that one, the
one that.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Just stands out.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
Got None of them really stand out like that. Man,
It's not like you know, yeah, none of them really
stand out. I mean it's like being there. I've been there,
yeah a million times. Maneah. I mean when I go
into a game and I rushing quarterback or chase on

(23:53):
the run, I expect him because if he's getting making yards,
I gotta make him pay for the yards you just
got right right show this. I expectedly make them cot
that ball up.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
So I played, I played thirteen, rong played eleven. And
I know, for me, at least I get nervous when
I get around Hall of Famers because y'all are like, man, y'all,
y'all are the Ghats, and we had really good careers.
We get noticed every so often, and you notice when
you came around, it was like we damn do we
call you Lawrence?

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Mister Taylor?

Speaker 4 (24:21):
You know?

Speaker 1 (24:22):
So, I guess my question you is we kind of Look,
we still get starstrucks when we see Hall of Famers,
at least I do. Really, yeah, every every every time,
all the time.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
My question is, hey, man, how you working this guy?

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Sadly every day? I'm about to cry over here, so,
but how do you Is there anyone you get starstruck over?

Speaker 5 (24:47):
Star struck.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Or just in an all like wow, that's that's so
and so or you know.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Yeah, I mean yeah, there's quite a few people, you
know now they say Tom Brady or some of the
quarterbacks and leave not well maybe not the present day quarterback,
but the older quarterback. And that's guys that I only
see when I'm this close to them. Okay, yeah, I

(25:16):
guess yeah. I like to seeing those guys. I love
to seeing it, and I love it when they are recognized,
when they recognized me. Yeh know, Lit's say, because you've
seen this face before, my friend.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
I love how you have not the competitiveness is not
going away, like it's still in you. Like who you are,
that tough son of a you know what that I
saw in the NFL hardest hits growing up, Like the
all the films that I watch, I got one right now,
just watch the last night of highlight tape of.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
View of your best hits like that has not gone anywhere.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
I want to, first of all say that, and I
appreciate that because that means it's not gonna leave me either.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yeah, it's not going to leave me either. So I
appreciate that. Number One.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
What I want to know, though, is what it means
to you to be considered the greatest defensive player of
all time in the NFL's history. And I know that's
a you know, I don't want you to have to
bragen yourself too much. But when somebody says that, how
does that make you feel?

Speaker 4 (26:19):
What is that?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
How do you internalize?

Speaker 5 (26:20):
You know? How it feels good? Because you know what
hey with Like even with the Family Foundation, Hey, you
walk in there and you know the kids will be
scattered everywhere and everything, and and you can give them
some information. You can talk to them you can do

(26:41):
certain things and they look at me and say, like,
you know, like they understand. They like I want somebody
to understand what I'm talking about, you know, hey, And
I can't talk about unless I've already done it, you know.
And so hey, and that's what we talked about that
in the in the in the family foundation, we try

(27:04):
to make them responsible for their actions and simply that's
what we did. Yeah, like I said, wish my daughter
was up here talking about it. She is so good
at this because she's that's what she does. But uh,
I mean she she's in it with her whole heart

(27:26):
and soul and everything. And while I'm on the golf course,
she's still working.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
You know.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Look, we appreciate you coming on the podcast. I can't
thank you enough for Football Royalty. Thank you for going

we actually got to sit down with some of the
greatest of all time that they allow us to be
in front of these people. Go to jackets, yes, gold jackets.
I just like how he just was he loves being himself.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yes, he loves being himself. Till is competitive on the inside.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
You heard it in his in his comments when when
we're talking to him, he was just like, I just
want to separate the.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Man from the ball. That's just what I was. I'm
old as he's talking, he's getting worked up.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Yes, I'm glad he didn't put a sweat on though,
because I think he had a late night to night before.
