Speaker 1 (00:09):
Purty.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Pretty rich, that's what we're calling it. See his name
is Brock Purty and he is now officially one San
Francisco forty nine is franchise quarterback two paid a very
rich man. Will tell you why and how much for
Brock Purty's massive, massive payday. Meanwhile, Tennessee Titans star safety
(00:33):
Xavier Woods takes time out from his running and owning
a Smoothie King to join us on the Insiders and
talk about cam Lord and why he finally finally ended
up joining his hometown team. And then Adam Rank, our
good buddy, joined us as he usually does on a Friday,
to talk about his favorite revenge games, including this one,
(00:55):
which was just brutal. Not so much this, but what
happened at the end one is probably a lot worse.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
No, don't show it, don't show it. Oh we showed it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Dolcome inside with the Insiders in Rapaport, Judy Bautista. There's
a lot to get to in today's massive, massive show.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I don't want to mess around.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Let's start with the big time breaking news that we
had just moments ago. Sources tell the Insiders that Brock
Party is very, very rich, unbelievably rich five years two
hundred and sixty five million dollars on his contract extension
done by agent Kyle strong In of Brain Sports, one
hundred and eighty one million dollars in total guarantees one
(01:40):
hundred and sixty five point one million over the first
three years of the deal. On its face, the average
is fifty three million dollars per year. Based on the
new money, he gets fifty five million dollars average per
year over the first three years. That is how they
make all this make sense. Remember brock Party was mister
irrelevant signed for seventy seven thousand dollars, now gets a
(02:04):
two hundred and sixty five million dollar extension. You can
argue all you want about what he's worth. That is
a franchise quarterback. These numbers do not lie. Perdy has
been sensational. He has led the forty nine ers to
almost everything you would want a quarterback to lead you to.
And now he gets his contract. So let's bring in
(02:24):
our good friend. Omar Ruiz recovers the forty nine ers
very closely for us, and of course Judy Batista. Omar
I will start with you, how important was this for
the forty nine Ers to get this done today.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Well, you mentioned just the great story that this is
the incredible turnaround from Brock pretty being the mister irrelevant
to somebody who has taken that team, one of the
more illustrious franchises in NFL history, to a super Bowl appearance.
He's played at an MVP type level. And when you
talk about getting that George Kittle deal done a couple
of weeks ago, one of the more popular players in
(02:58):
recent forty nine ers history, and now their franchise quarterback
is in place, so there are no discussions if is
he or is he not going to participate in OTA's
Will this linger into training camp? We've seen the last
several years. We saw it with Brandon Auk and Trent Williams.
Last year, we saw it with Nick Bosa, the year
(03:19):
before that, Deebo Samuel back to twenty twenty two, a
lot of that bad juju perhaps lingering around that will
not happen this year with Brock Purdy and George Kittle
more recently a couple weeks ago, to get this deal done,
to have their franchise quarterback in play, somebody that they
can rally around.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
And you mentioned Ian there he runs.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Kyle Shanahan as well as any quarterback we have seen since.
Kyle Shanahan has been one of the foremost and premier
play colors in recent NFL history. Not only that, but
it's his consistent leadership behind the scenes, whether they're winning
an NFC championship game and going to the Super Bowl
or losing a Super Bowl, no matter what they've encountered
since has been their quarterback. He is consistent and that
(04:03):
is something else they wanted to build around. Judy Well.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
It always felt like this was moving in the positive direction,
Unlike as you mentioned Omar in previous years, where a
contract situation sort of dragged on into very very late
into the summer right up to the start of the season.
It never felt like they wanted to let that happen
With Brock Perdy, not a surprise. He's your franchise quarterback.
And I've seen a little bit of that reaction Ian
(04:27):
that you mentioned, people saying, well, is.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
He worth it?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Are they overpaying it? No, they believe he is the
franchise quarterback. They believed that for quite a long time.
He's taken them to a super Bowl, They've played in
two conference championship games, and I would just remind everybody
the market is only going up. This contract puts him
in the top ten of contracts. He's not even in
the top five. There's plenty of money flowing into the teams.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
The market is going to rise.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Other people are going to top his contract, And of
course the salary cap has been jumping in the last
few years by pretty big chunks. So don't worry about
brock Purty being a drag on the San Francis for
forty nine Ers wallets.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
He is more than worth everything they are paying.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Him, and the forty nine Ers did shed a bunch
of salaries earlier on this offseason in part to make
room for this big time brock pretty deal and Tom
pel Serol mentioned it and a beautifully crafted tweet on
Twitter earlier today. Pretty showed up. He did what he
needed to do. He was a good guy in the
building and now he gets rewarded for that on off
(05:32):
the field. One of the faces of this San Francisco
forty nine Ers franchise now officially very very rich. Will
Micah Parsons get very rich? That is a big question, really,
one of our big time storylines this offseason, probably right
behind the brock Purty deal which got done today.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Parsons entering the last year of his deal.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
He has dot everything he could to become one of
the best defenders in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Will he get this new deal? Well?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
COO Stephen Jones spoke to media yesterday and addressed exactly that.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
You know, I don't comment on slows or far away
or any of that those things. Usually, you know, when
the right pieces, you know, when the right.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
Things come together and everybody's ready to do a deal,
then it happens.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
And I certainly we want Mike to hear and he
knows we want him here, and.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I think ultimately we'll get some done.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Well, that's what the Cowboys have been saying for the
last I don't know, a month or so, two months,
maybe three months. It seems every time there's a Stephen
Jones SoundBite, that's kind of what he says, Let's hold
off on how close are they Let's figure out, Judy,
how essential is this for the Cowboys to get done
before the season?
Speaker 5 (06:48):
Super essential? Super essential?
Speaker 4 (06:50):
There doesn't seem to be a ton of urgency the
tone of voice there. But as we have been saying
with all of the contracts that have come before and
all of the ones that are still to the.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Market only goes up. The price is only.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Going to go up for Micah Parsons, and he is
just like brock perty Worth. Whatever they're going to pay him,
all of the money that they're going to pay him,
he deserves it.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
But the price keeps rising.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
And we had seen this happen in the last few
contracts with the Cowboys, where again they have let it
linger linger linger until literally moments before seasons start they
get contracts done, and you wonder, first of all, how.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Much more they are paying because of that.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
But second of all, you do wonder what kind of
toll that takes on the team and on the player
to have this hanging over their head. Now Micah appears
to be handling it, just buying psychologically, but you do
wonder if it drags further and further into the summer
and towards the season, you know, if that weighs on him,
weighs on the team that this is not done yet.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Certainly it would.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Becoove the Cowboys, for Michaeh Parson's own sake and financially,
to get this done sooner rather than later, because they're
there are other contracts coming behind us.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
And to your point, Judy, you mentioned how much more
this might cost them going forward to not get it
done sooner. Just look at Dak Prescott's contract last year,
taking it all the way up to the start of
the season, paying sixty million dollars average annual salary at
this point. Several quarterbacks, several franchise quarterback we just saw
on today and Brock Purty fifty three million dollars per year,
(08:25):
not coming close to that sixty million dollars for Dak Prescott.
Obviously they had Ceedee Lamb taken up to the wire
last year as well, and who knows what sort of
bad juju we mentioned that for the forty nine ers,
not wanting to have that with the Trent Williams and
Brandon Ayuk. Who knows how that bled into the season
for CD and Dak last year. Avoiding that this time around,
avoiding that costly late tax. Maybe we could call it
(08:48):
ian something the Cowboys would look to avoid with this
Michael Parsons contract.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, we could just wait until an hour or two
before kickoff for the opener, and may it be scrambling
on our phones to send on the tweet and get
the attention of Game day morning producers because oh my god,
Mikey Parsons finally got his deal.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Gotta be fun if that happens, maybe or not.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Omar, thank you as always for joining us great info.
The weight is over, the countdown to kickoff has begun.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Welcome back to the insiders.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
There's the lineup of international games this season, seven in all, Madrid, Berlin, Dublin, London,
of course, and no team has done more of the
international games than the Jacksonville Jaguars. They, of course are
going to play in London again this season. Look at
that very cool collage with the Jaguar on the football field.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
Kind of cool. I like it.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Big Ben is there. They have played fourteen international games.
That is more than any other team in NFL history
by quite a large margin. And to talk more about
the Jacksonville Jaguars, let's bring in our very own Sarah Walsh.
Now look there is an awful lot to be excited about.
I am personally very excited to watch Travis Hunter, Sarah,
(10:20):
but what else is there that we should be paying
attention to with the Jaguars offense?
Speaker 1 (10:25):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 8 (10:26):
Travis Hunter, and deservedly so, has gotten so much attention
since this draft and leading up to the draft. But
maybe what's most exciting for Jaguars fans is who Travis
Hunter is going to be paired with when you look
at this offense, because I feel like a little bit
Brian Thomas Junior. Whether it's because the Jags didn't get
where they wanted to go last season or just beat
in a smaller market, I'm not sure that Thomas Junior
(10:48):
gets the attention that he deserved a season ago because
as a rookie, ten touchdowns, more than twelve hundred yards
and Judy, if you take a look at the company
that puts him with in the Super Bowl era, only
three of receivers have put up those kind of numbers
in their rookie years and that was Jamar Chase, Odell
Beckham Junior, and a guy named Randy Moss. That is
(11:08):
the company that Thomas Junior finds himself in I was
able to speak with Jacksonville's wide receiver this week, and
he told me how much better he even feels already
this year, not having to do the combine, not having
to do all those interviews, just being able to show
up and go to work. He told me he has
focused on being a better leader in year two, and
he is also a locker neighbor. He told me of
(11:28):
Travis Hunter, and I said, well, what advice would you
give to him? You just went through the rookie experience,
And he said, I would tell him to take care
of his body because it's such a long season. And
I said, you know, when your head was swimming that
first year and you still put up incredible numbers, what
would it have.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Been like if you were in these receiver room.
Speaker 8 (11:46):
Meetings and then, by the way, had to get up,
go out, go in the defensive meetings. He said that
he called that situation quote very wild to me. But
he said what he noticed about Hunter or ready somebody
that he said he clicked with.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
He said, he's.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
Already seen just how detail oriented this player is, which
bodes well if you have to go to eight hundred
meetings a day.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Judy, I am with you also that we should be
paying a lot more attention to Brian Thomas Junior this season.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
All right, Sarah, to make all of this work.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Of course, it's going to be Liam Cohen's offense. How
are they receiving Cohen's offense so far?
Speaker 8 (12:20):
Well, I got a chance to watch Liam code here
and Tampa reinvigorate the Bucks offense, took him to a
top five scoring offense, and then he got a run
game going that had long been missing here in Tampa Bay.
Since I was talking to Thomas Junior this week, I said, look,
I know that you haven't spent a lot of time
with him, but what are some of the things that
you've picked up already? And he said, one of the
things he's sort of hammered these guys and in very
short time is he wants them to be able to
(12:43):
have an answer to everything that's going on, why we're
calling a certain play, why we're seeing a certain defense.
He also told me what's really stood out to him
is how active he is with the players.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
And I said, well, what do you mean by that?
Speaker 8 (12:54):
And he said, he's just actively around the guys. He said,
is communications over little things has made him stand out
so far. He told me that there is an energy,
there is an atmosphere around that building, and they hope
that it bodes well for a successful season in Jacksonville.
By the way, Judy, they open up the ear you
were talking about the London games. They're going to open
up against the Panthers. And that's interesting because it pits
(13:16):
the Bucks former two offensive coordinators who each spent one
year on the job in Tampa and then got head
coaching gigs. So they will meet in week one, which
will be Liam Cohen's NFL head coaching debut.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
I am very much looking forward to seeing what the
Jacksonville Jaguars look like this season.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Sarah Walsh, thank you very.
Speaker 9 (13:33):
Much, ladies and Channel Today. You or like, oh giant,
(14:04):
he could go away. If you're not on that, sure
you're a.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Live I got a lot of questions. I got a
lot of questions.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
We don't have enough show to answer all the questions
I have about that.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
We just watched the Broncos announcing their schedule.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Speaking of Broncos, they are going to be playing on
Christmas Day, a Christmas Day tripleheader, really fun one.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
As a matter of fact, it.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Was so fun last year. You know what, let's do
it again. Three games this time. Yes, I imagine this
will be our lives from now to eternity, many many
games on Christmas.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Let's go. Let's bring back in our friend.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Omar ruizl on course with our good friend Judy Batista Omar.
Let's break down some of the fun schedule things that
we learned Wednesday, Thursday and then today take us through
the AFC West.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
What takeaways you had?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Well, first of all, the Kansas City Chiefs taking the
international stage once again. We've seen in this Patrick Mahomes era.
They go to Mexico, they've gone to Germany, and now
they'll go to Brazil. So seeing how Andy Reid and
the rest of that staff managed the irregular schedules like
we saw them face last year. Of course, they played
(15:20):
on six different days of the week. In twenty twenty four,
every day except Tuesday they played. And this year they're
gonna have seven primetime games. They'll play on Thanksgiving, they'll
play on Christmas. And from talking to people in that building, yes,
Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes great break play calling. What they
do on the field is extraordinary, but it's what Andy
(15:40):
Reid does behind the scenes, managing this team's workload, how
they practice, how they work, when to push, when to pull,
Relying on those veterans like Patrick Mahomes, like Travis Kelce,
like Chris Jones, pushing those younger players for when they
do have those mental day practices and it's not as
physical for them, not to waste time, not to waste reps.
(16:00):
I look forward to seeing the Chiefs manage that schedule
again in twenty twenty five. Similarly the Christmas game you
mentioned Ian the Chiefs and Broncos. The Broncos are back
in primetime for primetime game schedule. They also have the
London game against the Jets. Last year, we just saw
them have two scheduled games for primetime. They had that
Thursday when they went to New Orleans and Sean Payton's
(16:21):
homecoming against the Saints. They also had that late one
against the Browns on Monday Night Football. They also got
flexed into the first Thursday game against the Chargers. But
with Bo Nicks and Sean Payton back in the spotlight now,
they're expecting a big season in Denver in twenty twenty five.
And you know, Sean Payton one of the best coaches
I have ever seen about managing the collective team's emotional intelligence.
(16:46):
I look forward to him managing that. But the Broncos
in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
You know who's also a pretty good team. The Buffalo Bills.
They have proven once again, even in a year like
last year, we's theoretically transition here.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Not a lot of transitioning the Bills schedule all it
is right there, a lot of fun ones to get through.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Let's go back to Judy to.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Break down your takeaways from the ABC, specifically the Bills
and then the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Yeah, the Bills actually, I think have a pretty easy path.
I know Sean McDermott is probably going to yell at
me when he sees me about saying that. But six
of their first seven games or against teams that did
not make the playoffs last year, and four of their
final five games or against teams that did not make
the playoffs last year. Of all the teams that you
would expect are going to challenge Kansas City for AFC supremacy,
(17:37):
the Bills have by far the easiest strength of schedule.
I believe they're twenty third overall in the league. The
next closest team is something like the Houston Texans at eighteenth.
So the Bills have a pretty smooth path to roll
up a lot of wins and perhaps, in their case,
finally get home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Now let's talk about New England, who is poised.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
It looks, according to the schedule, for a pretty good
bounce back. They have one of the easiest schedules in
the entire league, thirtieth overall in strength of schedule, and
there's a stretch in the middle of the season where
they play the Saints, Titans, and Browns in order. That
could be three teams that at that point could all
be starting rookie quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
So they've done a lot of.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Work this offseason. In New England, they did a lot
of roster turnover. Of course, they hired Mike Rabel. Look
for a pretty good bounce back for the Patriots this season.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
It certainly should be.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Meanwhile, a team that does not need to bounce back,
which needs to steadily improve. The Arizona Cardinas are one
of the coolest schedule releases.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Mac Wilson released his song it was.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Kind of fire, as he said, and we learned about
the Cowboys. The Cardinals schedule right here, go right back
to omar Omar break down the NFC West, highlighting Cardinals
and Rams ready to go.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Yeah, just like Judy, you mentioned, Sean McDermott would give
you brief for saying grief that the Bill's schedule was easy. Similarly,
in not said Jonathan Gannon would give me grief. I
said the Cardinals schedule was easy, but in their first
twelve weeks they only faced one team that made the
playoffs last year, So a great opportunity for them to
jump out and start quickly, and they may need it
(19:14):
because down the stretch their last six games of the season,
five of them are against teams that made the playoffs
last year, including four of them on the road. So
last year we saw them go six and four and
then down the stretch two and five to miss the playoffs.
They finish eight and nine, third place on the schedule,
so another good opportunity for them to start quickly but
(19:36):
finish strong this time around. Similarly for the Rams, kind
of like the opposite for them. In twenty three, we
started to see them start three and six. Last year
they were one in four. We've seen Sean mcvay's teams
over the years get better as the year goes on,
but this year, with so much expectations, going toe to
toe with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional round of
(19:58):
the playoffs, then getting Davonte, the way that young defensive
corps has matured, Super Bowl aspirations on the mind for
the La Rams. Maybe NFC Championship home game, a number
one seed might be on the horizon for them. So
a quick start for them could be in order. And
when you look at their first five games, their home
(20:18):
against the Texans and they're at Tennessee, it'll be cam
Ward's first home game at Philly, obviously it would be tough,
and then at home against the Colts and Niners. So
great opportunity for this year the Rams to start fast.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Right, let's focus in on the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
They're not gonna let this segment go by without hitting
Dallas hard.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
There's their schedule right now.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
It's actually a beautiful picture kind of mixing the some
different Dallas undertones in a couple of different ways.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Good job there, all right, Judy, back to you. Let's
hit on the NFCS. Give me some more on the
Cowboys and the Giants.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
The Cowboys have a brutal stretch during the holiday season.
It starts in Week twelve with the Eagles. Then they
have Thanksgiving, of course, a short week against the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
On the road, against the Lions, home.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Against the Vikings, the Chargers, Christmas Day at Washington, all
in a row. Very very tough stretch for the Dallas Cowboys.
Of course, they are in the limelight lots of primetime games,
but that is some lineup of playoff caliber teams, and
then going to their NFC East rival, the New York Giants.
(21:28):
They have the hardest schedule strength of schedule in the
entire NFL this season, ten games against teams that made
the playoffs last year, and the first half of the
season is especially tough. It is a lineup of teams,
many of whom had really excellent pass defenses last season.
The Giants believe they are an improved team, that they
(21:49):
have a better roster, and that Russell Wilson will play
steadier quarterback, but they really have their work cutout for
them in the first half this season, and to make
matters even more difficult, the bye week doesn't come until
Week fourteen. Very very linked by so there's not a
natural opening to make a quarterback change if they want
to get Jackson Dart in there.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I know this, Judy, not just because I read the schedule,
but because every Giants fan I know is texting me
like seriously his schedule as if I'm like standing there
writing it. I didn't create the schedule. Also, they got
to play all those teams anyway, so just really matter
what order it's in. But yes, it's all tough for
the Giants. I have a funny feeling we will be
discussing this and them a little bit this season. Omar,
(22:30):
thank you as always for hanging out lists. You mentioned
Judy stellar pass defense. Let's get to a stellar pass defender.
That's a pretty nice player, right there. Xavier Woods joining
us next on The Insiders. We're going to talk about
all sorts of his favorite things, including smoothie Kings, Titans,
and rookie quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Get right to our breaking new is of the day.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
The San Francisco forty nine ers make it official. Brock
Party is their franchise quarterback. He agreed to terms on
a five year, two hundred and sixty five million dollar
contract extension his agent Kyle Strong and told the insiders
one hundred and eighty one million in total guarantees fifty
three million average per year based on new money over
(23:22):
the first three years, though it's fifty five million dollars
per year. It was all sorts of discussion about the
forty nine ers and how they do contracts and taking
this one.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
To the wire.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
No need, Now that is done, and Brock Party, who
played at Iowa State, who was really really good at
Iowa State and still is mister irrelevant, gets the bag
and his alma mater celebrates an incredible day for Purty,
the forty nine ers, really anyone else in his orbit.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
We in the NFL in league.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Man, you gotta s cauch bons, you gotta stuch bone.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
I scored three at this school. That's his fast his
I like it. Strike that thing. Oh, come on, pantention,
you only got one. Come on, go agat go, can't
come on? Hurry on? Yeah, I have I see you.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
Stop walking them up.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oh we got discipline, We got disciplined, We got discipline.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (24:21):
Yeah, I have fun football, smust be fun.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
If you're tired, that's okay, okay, I'll see you to city.
I see. Oh yeah, good work, boy, good communication.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Greg Communic Casa, I get talk y'all, I get talk,
I get talk.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Good talk is right.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Tennessee Titans are on the field, and as they continue
to be on the field for the rest of the
springing into the summer, so will Xavier Woods, one of
their big ticket free agent signings this past offseason, entering
is ninth season in the NFL, now expected to be
a key part of this Titans defense. Xavier, thank you
(25:02):
very much for joining us on the Insiders. Ian Rappaport,
Judy Batista. There will start off with a very simple
basic question. Everyone's busy. Obviously, football is on all of
our minds. You took time away from your smoothie king
to join us. Who's manning the shop and how has
that been.
Speaker 10 (25:21):
I have a great team, have a great team behind me,
me and my wife, So me and my wife and keys.
We're here in Nashville, but we do have a great
team behind that's running the ship down there in Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I actually want to know what your go to smoothie
order is, but I also have a football question after that.
You're going into your ninth season, which is long for anybody,
but especially for somebody who started out as a six
round draft pick. So first tell me what your smoothie
order is, and second of all, tell me what your
advice is to those rookies who are in camp right now.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
No funny thing.
Speaker 10 (25:55):
I actually just got my favorite order today.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Was extra but.
Speaker 10 (26:02):
It comes with a salu bowl with strawberries, bananas and
blueberries and granola sprinkle some peanut butter on top, and
also the strawberry ad peanut butter. So I had those
two today. That's my favorite. And just you know, some
I tell the rookies, and I've kind of told the
rookies so far. I mean, just enjoy the process. This
(26:26):
is a life changing experience. This game doesn't love you.
This is a is a privilege, and it's definitely just
an opportunity. You can be in here one day out
the next day. I was a six round drift pick,
and so I wasn't promised. It wasn't like I was
going to training camp being a number on the roster,
being on the fifty three. I had to work my
(26:47):
way to it. And so just enjoy the process. Work
every day. Any opportunity that you get, don't give it back.
Don't give it back. Everyone's going to get opportunity, whether
it's in pre season, whether it's in OTA's training camp.
Once you get that chance, don't give it back.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
And so they're just.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
Some of the things that small tickets that I just
try to give the rookies.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Some that's some good advice. And I assume you'll be
sharing sharing your wisdom with plenty of those guys as
you kind of mingle back together as the team gets
together for off season workouts. Uh, you had a pretty
high profile rookie, cam Ward number one overall pick. You know,
we've spent so much time talking about some of the
other quarterbacks in the draft, it's almost like this guy, uh,
(27:29):
the potential superstar quarterback has been overlooked.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Have you gotten a look at him? Have you met him?
Speaker 2 (27:34):
And what do you think is the potential future face
of this Titans franchise.
Speaker 10 (27:39):
I've got a small glimpse and OTAs you know, we
kind of a part defense in offense and offense. So
I've just kind of gotten a quick look at him
just from you know, whether it's Callie showing some of
the offensive film and team meetings and just saying some
highlights like you guys are showing now. So I got
a small glimps we was and cars I got the
(28:00):
watch a couple of games. You know why the time allowed.
But I mean the head coaches think that he's going
to be a heck of a quarterback. I mean they
wouldn't have selected him first overall if they didn't think so.
And so I think, just as the team overall, we
hope he just comes in and brings us sparking, uplifted
team to where it needs to be.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Uh Well, I wanted to ask you that because you
and cam Ward were both part of a pretty active
offseason by the Titans. There's a whole lot of new
stuff there. What's the vibe around the team right now,
including cam including.
Speaker 10 (28:34):
You just getting back on track, I would say, getting
back on track, getting his team back into this winning ways.
Growing up, I was a tendency Titan fan honestly, so,
I mean my favorite players was definitely was Adie, George,
Chris Johnson, and then Steve Mayn their rest in peace.
That was my ultimately it was my favorite player of
(28:55):
all time. I was number nine all through you football,
So just being on being on the Titans.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Dream come true for me.
Speaker 10 (29:01):
I even wrote that down when I was a youth
being that I want to be on the Titan So
just getting the Tennessee Titans back to the hem winning
ball games. Ultimately, it's just the number one goal. Winning
ball games is the main goal for this team.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Wait, hang on a second, So you grew up a
Titans fan. You're obviously still someone we can listen to
you speak, still someone who cares about this organization.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
This is your ninth season. Why did it take you
so long to sign with the Titans.
Speaker 10 (29:32):
I mean, you gotta be wanting Hell, you gotta go
with I mean draft the Dallas So sometimes you gotta
go where you want it at the time. At the time,
you know, other teams may have wanted me, and so
I went there. But I mean, it's definitely a dream
come true to be able to play for the Titans
team that I grew up watching my first football game
that I could ever remember with Super Bowl and them
(29:54):
coming when you are sure, So that's the first game
I can ever remember watching. So ever since then, I've
just been on Titans fan, has been from Afar always,
you know, kind of look and see what the Titans
doing when I mean other teams. But it's definitely a
dream come true.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
All right, let's fast forward to the twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
The schedule just came out this week.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
The Titans are not in a prime time game this year,
at least not so far. You could play your way
into it. But as a player, when you looked at
the schedule, what were you struck by?
Speaker 5 (30:24):
What are you looking forward to?
Speaker 10 (30:26):
I mean, first and foremost, I think any player looks
and sees do hav any prime time games? That's I
think there's any player.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
And then I.
Speaker 10 (30:34):
Think players can see do that have the twelve o'clock games?
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Because we don't play time.
Speaker 10 (30:40):
I think any player will say they wont a twelve
o'clock game. It's nothing like getting getting finished or getting
done with a game at three or four o'clock and
having the rest of the day.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
I think it's nothing like it.
Speaker 10 (30:53):
It's nothing like it. So we have any prime time games,
which we didn't have any prime time games last year
in Carolina, so I was used to it. May I
have experience with that, but getting some twelve o'clock games
is crucial, and it's definitely for I'm getting old with
the man being able to play the gamers and get
home and go tell on that couch.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
It's joy to me.
Speaker 10 (31:16):
I take that over four o'clock or you know, some time,
I take it over the prime time. I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Stars, they're just like us.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
They sit on the couch, they watched football at night.
I love Exager. Thank you so much for joining us
on the in centers and let's just say the vibe
is good in Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
We hope you guys play your way.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Into some primetime games either this season or coming up.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Appreciate your time, man, Thank.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
You, thank you all, Thank you all for having me.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Fun one with Xavier Woods, fun one coming.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Up, I assume maybe not with Adam Rank, our good
buddy breaking down some of the big time revenge games
coming up in twenty twenty five, like.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
That when you saw right there, like this one right here.
How many times in the show we're gonna show Mark
Andrews drop. I hope he is not watching.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Let's get a little more on the Ravens Ode because
their star linebacker Rokeewan Smith was on our schedule release show,
hanging out with Richison, telling us what he thinks about
week one.
Speaker 11 (32:18):
Well, what was the first game you look for when
you looked at the schedule requa.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
The first game of the year. That's how you start
the season off, and that's gonna set the tone for
the entire season. So that's the first game for sure.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Well that's at the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Yeah, just how I like it exactly. Okay, served as
a cold dish, you know, So it'll be nice to
get up there in Buffalo and get a little payback
for those guys from the end of the year.

Speaker 11 (33:15):
The Bengals trying to win it from the three yard
line of Denver Burrow looking to throw his pass.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
It is te Claw, my tea.
Speaker 11 (33:23):
He is touchdown. It's Olengals have the final playoff spot
get the NFC will not be decided until the final
week of the regular season. The Cincinnati Bengals are still alive.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
That was a classic.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
That's one revenge game we're going to see again in
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
What about this one?
Speaker 2 (33:48):
We know how this ends isaaa likely with the game
winning touchdown pass that definitely would have counted except for
one big toe at a bounds Chiefs and the beating
the Ravens twenty seven in a game that you know
the Ravens are just dying, dying to get revenge for.
Let's bring in our good friend Adam Rank to break
down all of his best revenge games for the twenty
(34:12):
twenty five season.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Right, start us off with number one.
Speaker 7 (34:15):
Yeah, we're gonna start with number one, and it's once
again going to involve the Baltimore Ravens, but this time
it's going to be going up against the Buffalo Bills.
There's a lot of intrigue. Obviously, the Kansas City Chiefs
are the headliners in this situation, and the Bills and
the Ravens kind of play like the supporting act, kind
of like in nineteen ninety one New Year's Eve, I
(34:36):
drove up to San Jose to go to the Cow
Palace to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The two
opening bands, Nirvana and Pearl Jam that's kind of I
don't know who Nirvana is.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
I don't know who.
Speaker 7 (34:46):
Pearl Jam is. You guys can debate that later. But
these teams have a lot to offer. Obviously, the Mark
I don't want to listen. You don't have to show
the Mark Andrews thing. I kept thinking about Josh Allen
because he kept Lamar Jackson from claiming his second consecutive
and third total MVP award.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
I feel like that's the big one.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
We don't need to drag Mark Andrews through this.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
It's a tough play.
Speaker 7 (35:08):
I think the two quarterbacks make this a very compelling matchup.
And now it just seems like the Ravens are going
to lead off every season.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Now, what's the record at a show for most times
showing Mark Andrews drop on the goal on I don't
know what it is.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
We're sading it.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Congratulations, NFL Network, what a record to set. Take us
rank it's the number two.
Speaker 7 (35:27):
Well, this is one I kind of wish they would
have put on Thanksgiving Day. But of course it's going
to be the Chicago Bears playing the Detroit Lions. And
if you think of all the missteps the Bears had
last season, it was the Caleb Williams game. It was
that game on Thanksgiving against the Lions not calling a
timeout in the final eighty seconds. It felt like but
(35:49):
now there's a real there's more. There's more intrigue here
because Ben Jonson is obviously the new head coach of
the Chicago Bears. And let's be honest, the fans in
Detroit are not taking this well as a as matter
of fact, Bee, I know it's new territory for the
Lions to have people come in and poach your coaches.
This is what happens to go to organizations. I'm sorry, Detroit,
(36:10):
you over at chie or not over a chief. You
played very well last year, you got the number one
seed in the NFC. Teams are going to come and
steal your coaches and so this is going to be great.
And you know that Ben Johnson is petty like he's
added in for Matt Lafleur for whatever reason, calling him
out by name. He doesn't like Brian Flores because he
was fired in Miami when Brian.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Flores was the head coach.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
But I think this matchup against Detroit are going to
be key this coming season.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
One thing I really appreciate just of our's overall traits, pettiness.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
I'm a big fan. Take us to number three rank.
Why don't we go with a rematch?
Speaker 7 (36:49):
A Super Bowl rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and the
Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs, obviously, we're going for a
third consecutive Super Bowl, an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
And it wasn't close.
Speaker 7 (37:01):
It was not a competitive contest, not at all. The
Philadelphia Eagles ran out to a twenty four to nothing
lead in the first half, never looked back. They were
sort of running up the score, sort of not running
up to score. I don't know if this was ayso
I think Nick Sirianni would have gotten an email from
the board being like, hey, sportsmanship's a big thing. But
(37:23):
at the same time, it's still a Super Bowl. And honestly,
this is one of those things where the Chiefs are
still one of the top.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Teams in the AFC.
Speaker 7 (37:33):
Like, regardless of what happened in the Super Bowl, and
obviously that was a disaster, they're still the favorite to
get back to the Big Game. And now they got
an opportunity to go out there and beat the Philadelphia Eagles.
And I know it's not the same to beat them
in the regular season. It's like one of those old
wrestling matches where it's like, hey, we're fighting on Saturday
Night's main event in a non title match, but it's
(37:53):
still going to be very compelling for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Weve Saturday night and made them it was Saturday night
primetime wrestling that was Those were events in my househen
I got to stay up late.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
It was pretty awesome. Anyway, take us rank to number four.
Speaker 7 (38:10):
I'm gonna go with a game that we just saw
here in the open, the Bengals and the Broncos. It's
it's incredible because last season that was one of the
most compelling games of the entire year.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
And obviously this is the past.
Speaker 7 (38:21):
The t Higgins, the Bengals win this one, and we remember,
like living in this moment. We all remember the vibe
in the AFC was please don't let the Bengals into
the tournament. Nobody wanted to see the Bengals into the tournament.
So this set up a Week eighteen match between the
Broncos and the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are like, yeah,
we're just gonna play some of the backups.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Yeah, We're gonna try to win.
Speaker 7 (38:45):
I guess I don't know, kind of like when you're
playing your kids in the backyard and you're like, I'm
not trying, you know, I'm not going Draymond Green on
my son here. But at the same time, I think
that the Bengals might have a bigger beef with the
Kansas City Chiefs in this instant, but they get an
opportunity to go against the Denver Broncos. So I think
this is gonna be a very good one. And I
(39:06):
and again is one of the Day one believers. I'm
looking forward to the Broncos going out and proving that
last year was not a flute.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
You know, I like, do we have you on here
to rank games?
Speaker 2 (39:18):
It'll be like Mead coming on a show and rapping
because it's out of my name.
Speaker 7 (39:23):
I'm in, Yeah, let's let's make that a segment. I
want to see that.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Let's let's not give us number five rank.
Speaker 7 (39:32):
I'm gonna go with an NFC East clash. I think
it's gonna be amazing this year. The Eagles and the
Commanders last year. Obviously, this is a repeat of the
NFC Championship game. We're going to be able to see
this a couple of times. And this is a big
question that I have coming into the season. Is Number one,
can Saquon Barkley continue to be the guy that he
was last year? I think for the fantasy aspect of it,
(39:55):
I was bullish on Saquon Barkley last year. I've got
him as my number one player this season. I really
do believe he's gonna go out there and repeat. But
the big question too, what about the Commanders. Is there
going to be a sophomore slump for Jade and Daniels?
Is there going to be a step back? Because in
a way, the Commanders did sort of overachieve. Like remember
(40:16):
they have this second overall pick in the draft and
then all of a sudden they were in the NFC
Championship game.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Are they really that good?
Speaker 7 (40:22):
We'll get an opportunity to find out, Eagles Commanders playing
a couple of times at the end of the season,
and that will probably have the NFC East on the line.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Cannot wait. If only there was a way to find out.
Oh yeah, watch the games anyway.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
For more from rank nfl dot com, slash revenge. For
the whole rankings, our good friend Nick Schuck put together
the best twelve person NFL flag football team roster.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Did it all on NFL dot Com. Some might call
it a dream team. I don't know. You might call
it that.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I mean, this would be a pretty nasty flag football team,
if I do say so much myself. Which got us
here thinking on the insiders as we bring back our
good friends Judy btc hent Omar. Ways, all right, if
you guys are selecting a flag football team.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Who are you going with first? We will start with Judy.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
I would watch Lamar Jackson play checkers, So Lamar Jackson
would absolutely be my first I mean, look at this,
I would watch him play anything.
Speaker 5 (41:27):
Absolutely, Lamar Jackson's the first pick.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
All right, good choice.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
There is no question in my mind that Tyreek Hill
would be my number one pick. I've always said throughout
his career. When you watch Tyreek Hill play, it looks
like he is on fast forward. Everybody else is on
regular speed. On the flag football field. I think that
would translate tremendously LA twenty eight, let's go.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
My choice has not even taken the NFL football field yet,
and that is Travis Hunter.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
One spot all the physicians.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
We already put him in the Hall of fame based
on his rookie Mini Camp performance and I'm good with
that anyway, he is on my team.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Great show, have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Goodbye everyone,
