five NFL season.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Abuka joined the show later.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
We've got interviews with two of those guys in new places,
one of them a rookie, one of them a veteran,
proving that he can stay on the field and have
that impact that we've seen when he's been healthy in
the past. And the NFC West, that's where Hufunga used
to play. Our Michael f Florio will give you the
fantasy outlook for that division tonight as he works his
way around the league to give you all of the

(00:55):
fantasy previews.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Welcome to the Insiders. I am Mike Garafalo.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Sitting here by myself, but don't you worry. I've got
plenty of friends along for the ride. Steve Weisch will
be joining us in a couple of minutes. Along with

and Whu Funga has a packed show tonight. Cam Wolf
gonna be with us as well.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
MICHAEH. Parsons he is going to be with the Cowboys for.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Mandatory mini camp this time last night we talked about
you know what he sit out? Would he make a
statement no. Shortly after the program, Parsons tweeted it and said,
I will be there. I haven't missed a mini camp
in four years. But here's the key part, because we
talked about the possibility of a hold in, he says,
I'm preparing as if I will be on the field
the first week of camp.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
But it's in the owner's hands. I'm ready to win
a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Well, there's that part of it, but there's also the
business part of it that needs to be handled as well.
Michael Parsons will see how it goes for him, how
it goes with regard to negotiations between him and the team. Meanwhile, JK. Dobbins,
the veteran running back who ran so well for the Chargers.
He's had some injury issues, but he showed he was
able to overcome them last year. The market not quite

(02:07):
maybe what he had hoped. Our top Pellisero reporting that
Dobbins going to meet with a AFC West arrival of
his last year. We're gonna meet with the Broncos, having
dinner this evening, going to be at the team facility
on Thursday as he explores the possibility of joining that team.
Let's go elsewhere in the AFC West where Xavier Worthy
and Rashie Rice flashing for the camera right there as

(02:30):
the Chiefs work through their offseason to try to get
back to the postseason and get back to the super
Bowl and win it this time.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
So to get there, it's going to be a long process.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
But let's bring in Jeffrey Chadia and Steve Weis to
talk about the Chiefs right now and what they need
to do, starting with Jeffrey to make that offense with
those guys and others explosive enough to get to where
they want to get to.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Jeffrey, what starts with Travis Kelce and the biggest question
about him is is he going to be in that
great shape he talked about at the end of last season.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
We know the last couple of games and not goes
the way he wanted them to go.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
He had a couple catches in the Ancy Championship Game
and only had four catches in the Super Bowl lost
to Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Fifty eight total yards in those contests. But people have
seen him.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Feel like he's starting to come around that they've seen
photos of him that show good signs. But he's been
at OTAs, but he hasn't been out there every day,
wasn't out there today. But he's his health, his conditioning,
as Mahomes has said. Patrick Mahomes has said, is a
big part of what they want to do. And the
two guys just saw in that video, Rashi Rice and
Xavier Worthy.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
How do they factor into this now?

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Because Travis Kelse is coming back in better shape, is great,
but this offense becoming more spolsive and more prolific revolves
around these two guys playing bigger roles. Travis Kelsey's going
to be thirty six years old, Rashi Rice is coming
back from that NAT injury, might be suspended, but they
like what they've seen from him so far this spring.
Matt and Naggey, their offensive coinator, talked about just the
fact that Rice being back in this offense showing the speed,

(03:56):
showing the agility.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
He's getting where it ags to be. And Xavier Worthy
Steve has done a lot of the same things. So
this offense getting better. Yeah, protection's big, but he's got
touching the passes.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
They got to be on point too, one hundred percent,
you know, and Rashid Rice him not being out last year,
they brought in Jujus Smith Schuster to kind of fill
that role. But we know, Jeff, in today's game, you
can't win without explosive play, and that's where to me,
the Chiefs running game has got to step up. You know,
we saw Isaiah Pacheck on Kareem Hunt. They kind of
grounded out when they had to grind it out, but
it seemed like Patrick Mahomes is like their biggest big

(04:27):
play threat.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
And I think a player to look out for is
Elijah Mitchell.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
A free agent running back they signed from the forty
nine ers who has not been able to stay healthy.
Was out all last season with a Hampshire injury.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
He's had some knee issues.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Before, but he was killing it for the first knee issue,
which prompted them to trade for Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
This is somebody that the.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Competition you know, plays out in the running back room,
and he stays healthy. I think he can make things
very interesting because again we talked about wide receiver. They
needs some explosive play and running back they need explosive
play in a caveat to see pictures of stuff with
Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I've seen Travis Kelsey. He looks in really good shape.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
He's not losing twenty five pounds. I talked to him
about that. He's going to play around his normal weight
of two forty two forty five. But I can tell
you this, him and Patrick Mahomes are very motivated. That
Super Bowl loss was incredibly humbling and motivating.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
The Chiefs right now sort of remind me of the
Patriots when they were humming with Brady and Belichick in
that that offense every year would sort of look different.
They figure out what they were and try to play
to their strengths. Explosiveness they're hoping is going to be
one of their strengths for this offense in twenty twenty five.
Thank you, Jeffrey Chedia. Weish hang in there. We're going
to get right back to you in just a second.

(05:40):
Here we're heading down to Florida here with the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
See Baker Mayfield right there.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
A really talented team in Tampa that they are getting
ready to put on the field this upcoming season. Todd
Bowles at the helm for the Buccaneers. Here's his thoughts
on what they're seeing this spring in Tampa.

Speaker 7 (06:00):
It's important because they have to learn the scheme and
they have to pick everything up and see how we
run things. And for the young guys coming in, OTA's
and mini camps are for them to get caught up
with the vets that's been here through Phase one and
phase two. So when training camp starts, they're on level
ground so we don't lose sight of that, and we
make sure they get the refs there need and the
extra meetings and the extra walkthrough so by the time

(06:22):
training camp comes they have a chance to compete.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Baldi, I was with you, Steve Wesch back with us.
Paudio was with you in training camp last year in
Tampa Bay. I know you love the physicality that they
have on both sides of the ball. They went live
hitting there while we were live down there in Tampa
for that one right there. When you look at this
Bucks team, right now now, I'm not going to have
that physicality, Baldy. It's not like back when you played.
It's OTAs. It's only helmets.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
There's not that. But what are we looking for in OTAs?
When you look at the Buccaneers.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
I'm excited about gold Tomorrow, Mike and Steve.

Speaker 8 (06:52):
You know when we were down there last year, they
looked like a good team and they turned out. They
won six of their last seven games, got to the
playoffs Women Division, fourth US in a row. But you
know what they did was they put their offensive line
together and they had an immediate jolt from the rookie class.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Graham Barton started at center all year.

Speaker 8 (07:10):
You know, Bucky Irvin took over the running back position,
average well over five yards of carry, had eight rushing touchdowns.
Jalen McMillan, the rookie wide received from Oregon, had eight
receiving touchdowns. And so what Todd was saying is right.
I want to see the rookies. I want to see
what Emica Buka looks like. He's going to get a
good chance to start right away. As Chris Godwins gets

(07:31):
healthy from an injury a year ago, I want to
see what he looks like in the chemistry with Baker.
I want to see defensively because when they lost in
the playoffs last year, they were really hurting in the secondary,
and so they went out and they drafted Benjamin Morrison
from Notre Dame, Jacob Parrish from Kansas City State guys that,
you know, I think Todd really wants those guys to
be able to step up and step in. If they

(07:53):
can get production like they got from the rookie class
last year, this would really help this defense overall.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Right now. So those are some of the things. And
then just watching.

Speaker 8 (08:03):
Baker, you know, I mean Baker right now, he's won
of ten ten quarterbacks in the history of this game
to throw for over forty touchdowns in forty five hundred yards.
That was a great season. I was got a new
offensive coordinator, Josh Grizzer. We got to see how he
handles things, replacing Liam Cohen. But one thing the Bucks

(08:23):
that they're able to do is they've been able to
overcome the loss of their coordinators that have gone on
to become head coaches. It's the credit to Todd Bowles
and really getting that pipeline ready. If they're going to
lose Zach Robinson if they're going to lose you know,
guys like Liam Poen.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
And other player other coaches that they have lost along
the way.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Looking forward to getting at Buka's thoughts on his quarterback,
the wide receivers he's playing alongside, and his new offensive coordinator.
Will get that shortly here on the Insiders when he
joins us. We know what Mike McDonald's thoughts are on
Sam Darnold and the thoughts on those that are asking
about the possibility of maybe Sam Darnald losing out on

(09:03):
that starting job. Mike McDonald says, well, and stop that.

Speaker 9 (09:07):
Is there anything that could happen other than an injury
between now and the beginning of the season that would
lead to a different quarterback?

Speaker 10 (09:15):
You guys are crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
There's no way to ask the question with that sounded
like an idiot.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I respect you got to ask it, but like there's yeah,
you guys, it's just a crazy question.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
There's just not gonna like Sam's are starting quarterback.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
We love him, He's doing a tremendous job.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah see, I would say I would say that. He
didn't say, you guys are crazy.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
The question is crazy, but he literally said you guys
are crazy way well.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
I mean, look, it's one of these things. Mike gat
no pads on. I'm sure Jayleen Milroll.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Is out there like chilling it, like exciting everybody with
no pads on. But they went on God Sam Darnald
for a reason. The one thing that's intriguing to me
is last year the Seattle Seahawks ran the ball the
third fewest times in the NFL and overall rushing attempts.
They cannot put that type of low on Sam Darnold. Now,
Donald did show last year in Minnesota if he had
to throw it thirty eight forty times a game, he

(10:05):
could do that. But they're not Roland Justin Jefferson out
there like they had. I mean, they got some good
receivers in Seattle, but last I Teck dk metcalf is
playing in Pittsburgh. So they're going to have to run
the ball more effectively and better, and they've taken some
measures to do that to enhance the offensive line. We'll
see if they can get going in the run game,
but they've got to have more of a balanced attack
for that definite starter Sam Darnold to be as effective best.

Speaker 8 (10:29):
Seeven f one of the reasons that went out and
got Clint Kubiak to run the offense.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
You know, they want to run the ball.

Speaker 8 (10:34):
They want to play action passes off the run game,
as we've seen around this league right now with guys
that are you know, have come out of that system,
Mike Shanahan system, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
They want to be able to run it.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
But I got it.

Speaker 8 (10:47):
I was around John Schneider a couple of weeks ago
out of camp in California, and it won't surprise me
to see JAYL. Milroe on on the field. I mean,
he's just that impressive of you know, as a prospect
as a rookie. You know his background, the way that
he was raised like he is all in and they

(11:08):
have he has been impressive. We know the athletic ability
when he busts a four three seven forty in the
forty and you run through LSU and some of the
teams that he did last year Georgia where they couldn't
touch him. He was just the best player on the field.
They know they've got a bundle of talent there. And
John Snider was raving about Matt and I'm not saying

(11:32):
anything that John, I wouldn't say anywhere else, but it
won't surprise me to see packages for jail and on
the field.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
And that's not no knock on Sam Darton.

Speaker 8 (11:41):
Sam's the starter, but he's just that impressive an athlete
that you might want to find a way to get
him on the field.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
And Baldy, that's how I wanted to come back to
your conversation with Sneyder. You were talking about Mirroe in packages,
not in a full force, no small package.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
And you see got Baldi out there.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
He says he's going to Buck Sotas, He's had a
football camp with John Stander's been to the Giants, he's
been to the Jets, has been an eagle. That map
behind him is not just decor. That's where he's trying
to get to to get you the football ahead of
the twenty twenty five season.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Body, what are you doing here?

Speaker 1 (12:16):
You got a flight to catch somewhere in there by
five point.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Thirty in the morning. Go to Tampa tomorrow. I'll be
there there you go tomorrow morning.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Bryan Baldinger premiere on so many airlines, all the hairs
flowing out there in Colorado, telling Noah hofunga Yeah, three years,
forty five million dollar deal with twenty million guaranteed to
head from San Francisco to Denver to be part of
that secondary. And now he's going to be a part
of the Insiders because he's joining myself, Mike Arroon, Polo and.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Steve Weiss here. He's got the hair up.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You know, I don't don't have these problems, so I
don't know how to out of work this kind of stuff, Tolly,
But thank you for joining us. How are things going
now in your first bring out there with the Devil broadcast?

Speaker 11 (13:02):
Man, Well, thank you guys for having me. Man, I'm
been blessed.

Speaker 12 (13:05):
The spring has been well, learning a new defense as
much as I can, just coming here and just being
as sponge and absorbing as much knowledge as I can,
just trying to earn respect of my guys. So it's
definitely a humbling process just to come in the building
every day and work as hard as you can and
show up so.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
And tell though, to kind of build off of that look.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
In your career in the NFL with the forty nine ers,
you pretty much have done nothing but one right, NFC Championship,
Super Bowl appearances. What is it like changing to a
team that's on the come up like the Broncos.

Speaker 11 (13:36):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 12 (13:36):
I think for me it's a it's a great opportunity
for me to express the stuff that I've been through,
the games that I've been a part of, winning and losing.

Speaker 11 (13:44):
I think that's the thing you learned from and it's constant.

Speaker 12 (13:47):
But you know, I was talking to my team earlier,
it's a clean slate every year, regardless even when I
was a brand.

Speaker 11 (13:52):
You know, you got you got to you got to
prove it each and every year.

Speaker 12 (13:55):
And so for us, it's it's a it's a grind
and that's what we're here for and that's why we're
working and showing up Ota is step one, and so
for me, I'm just excited to be part of a
great unit, a defense that was amazing last year and
just coming out here to help be a part of
it and help make plays and ultimately win Games's.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
New seeing it right now, we're showing it as we're
talking to you with these highlights of you. Physicality a
big part of what you do being around the football,
awareness getting up to make a tackle there closer to
the light of scrimmage as well.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I mean you've been all over the field.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
The question has been the injuries in the past and
that comes with that physical style of play. For the
Broncos to put that contract out there to you this offseason,
how much did that mean to you them showing the
confidence that this has been some let's say, fluky type
stuff and that you're going to be on the field
for then while continuing to play that physical style.

Speaker 12 (14:46):
Yeah, well, injuries are part of this game. It's an
NFL as a one hundred percent injury rate to begin with.
But I think the Broncos have full confidence in their
chaining staff. I think that's something that they definitely may
notice as I got here and what they're willing to
buy and help you achieve your goals, but achieve your
bodily goals and making sure your body is correct and
every day trying to get out there on the field

(15:07):
to pursue your dream of playing the NFL. So for me,
very blessed that they took a chance on me come
out here and I got to prove the contract and
earn it for sure.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
Okay, so let's follow that part up, because your defensive
coordinator Van Joseph told me he's like Steve. Our defense
was already smacking people in the mouth. Now we got
Tana Jufenga, who's gonna beensive face mask. But also your
former Niners teammate Drake Greenlaw comes over with you, and
we know the fury that he plays with. What about
the addition of two players with your style, your range,

(15:36):
and how they factor into the scheme that you're learning.

Speaker 12 (15:39):
Well, I think you know, bj has done a great
job of showing his presence of his defense is aggressive
and that's the style that we play. And a guy
like Dre just an incredible human being. He was my
locker partner in San fran and he's my locker partner
here at the Broncos, so very blessed to play with him.
I just go out there and play desperate. I think
that's the name of the game. Got to go out

(16:00):
there and earn, earn your right to get off the field,
create turnovers and ultimately england games as well.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
When you're a safety in a defense where you've got
the defensive player of the you're no knock on any
You play with some really good cornerbacks in San Francisco,
but we're talking about the defensive player of the year
here and patrick'stan. When you know he's got it on lock.
What does that do for you as a safety? That
does that allow you maybe the lean elsewhere? I mean,
I know you've got good players elsewhere in the secondary.
Does that free you up to do something? Maybe you're

(16:28):
still learning this right now.

Speaker 12 (16:30):
I'm definitely learning. I guess you know watching him, I've
studied a lot of tape on him to begin with.
You know, just what he does on the field is unbelievable.
He shuts down the whole entire side and that that
just makes your job easier, makes the other guys on
the team easier. And for me, you just want to
go out there and make Pat go do it again.
I want him to be another defensive player to the year.
And what can I do to make him Put him

(16:51):
in the best spots to show something else in the
disguise and make sure he gets to pick, and make sure.

Speaker 11 (16:56):
He ends up and ends on if I can get
a block.

Speaker 13 (16:58):
So just things like that.

Speaker 11 (17:00):
And I love playing with guys like that.

Speaker 12 (17:01):
And we got a bunch of dogs, so it's not
just Pat, but there's a bunch of guys out there
that can play for sure, all.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
Right, if you're coming from a team in San Francisco
where you see you saw a rookie quarterback making an
immediate impact in Rock Party and continue to grow and elevate.
Now you saw bow Knicks come in as a rookie
get the Broncos to the playoffs. Just in your few
moments months whatever around him? What has he showing you
the things he can be? Maybe on that same ascension
as Brock.

Speaker 11 (17:26):
Oh yeah, most definitely great leaders both quarterbacks. You know,
it's tough. You know, everybody wants to is he better?

Speaker 12 (17:33):
Is that?

Speaker 11 (17:33):
It's not a comparison game.

Speaker 12 (17:35):
I'm blessed to just be part of a new team
be around a quarterback that just goes out there and
works every day. You know, bo is a guy that's
first in, last out, shows up, and the first in line.
I think that's one thing even during the conditioning drills,
is first in line. He's running out down the field,
he's leading the pack, and you just want that as
a quarterback to be that leader, especially for a guy
that's young going into the second year, really taking command

(17:56):
of the team super exciting and he's teaching me. I'm
a guy that I'm trying to give him the best
look I can on defense. But he's showing me some
really good stuff so far during ots as a quarterback
in the second year.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Real quick before I let you go, Sean Payton in
one or two sentences, what's it been like playing for him?

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Oh? So far?

Speaker 11 (18:16):
You know, one word that cust to mind is just
very diligent. He's very smart when it comes.

Speaker 12 (18:22):
He has all the knicks in the next and understands
he's seen a lot of ball, you know, just coming
out there and give me just a little bits and
stuff that I'm you know, I just haven't heard of
my career and trying to take.

Speaker 11 (18:32):
That in and go out there and apply it to
my game and the best way possible to help us win.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Awesome, Tally. Appreciate your time here, man. I hope you
can spend some more time with us in the future.
You're always welcome on the insiders to let your hair
down or up. I mean, whatever you want to do
with it, man, we will.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Throw it up off, throw it up. Let him know.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
It is telling Funkah coming to a secondary near you
to make and plays. If you are a Broncos fan
coming up next, go to talk Eagles with our guy
Cameron Wolfs he's from the Philly area, and Brian Bollinger,
He's in the Philly area.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
A lot of Philly talk on the end Saturday. After this,
the wait is over.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
At the countdown, the kickoff has begun. Single game tickets
for the twenty twenty five NFL season are on sale now.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Visit NFL dot.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Com slash tickets to purchase tickets today. Tickets are available
through the NFL ticket network, including Ticketmaster, Sea Geek, and
Sports Illustrated Tickets.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Tickets for the Eagles is gonna be tough to come
by this season.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
That's the way it is always in Philadelphia, but particularly
after winning the Super Bowl. The Eagles OTAs as they
go about their title defense are underway there in South Philly.
BC Fangio mean while says, to get back to where
they need to get back to, you need turnovers, just
like last year.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
You need to do it this year.

Speaker 14 (19:58):
I look at this year very similar to last year
in that at this time last year, you know, we
had a lot of turnover in personnel from the previous year.
You know, you had Bond, Nobody knew what he was
at this point. Last year You had Nakobe who hadn't
played any meaningful NFL football in his first two years.

(20:21):
You had Orrin Burke's who we had just signed. You
had Isaiah Rogers, who he had just signed. You had
Ojomo who didn't play hardly at all his rookie year.
Got Nolan, who didn't play hardly at all his rookie year.
We got Chauncey Back, We drafted Q Cooper, Jlex. You know,

(20:46):
we had a lot of you know, question marks at
that time, or you didn't know, you know, this year,
those names are replaced Ringo, Adri Sydney, McCollum, Old, Juli Oocha,
Byron Young, Gabe, hal Booker, Jihad, you know, all the

(21:08):
draft picks, mccouba, Robinson, you know, Smile and then the
rest of the rookies. Some of those guys in that
second list have to become like those guys in the
first list.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Trim Gumbo, Trimp Salad. I think that's about it. And
by the way, he was talking about that, the only
turnover there was me.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
I fumbled it. I thought he was talking about turnovers.
He's talking about turnover as in turno whatever. Anyway, Cam
Wolf is here, Brian Boldinger is here as well.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Cam what players need to step up and please don't
name like seventeen of them like mcvangio did they when
players need to step up here for the Eagles this
upcoming season.

Speaker 9 (21:53):
Yeah, vic Vangiel's message, Cleary there is show me young guys,
show me something. And I can't wait to watch these
training battles, particularly in the secondary. And let's start at safety.
Read Blanken Ship's going to be one starter. They have
an open spot with Chauncey Gardner Johnson getting traded. In
that battle between Sidney Brown, their incumbent who was a
high draft pick a few years ago, and Andrew mccouba,

(22:15):
who they drafted the second round this year, is already
heating up. It's neck and neck from people I talked to,
their Sidney's obviously got a little bit of an advantage
because he's got knowledge of that defense. From what I understand,
he's taking a big step forward this offseason. Read blanket
Ship compared him to crash Bandicoot and how he plays.
He's a wild player. He comes in and.

Speaker 10 (22:34):
Hits and it can be good and bad, but he's
a guy who knows the defense.

Speaker 9 (22:37):
And then mcouba a lot of comparisons to Gardner Johnson
from people I talk to. In a skill set, He's rangy,
he can hit, he can play multiple positions. He can
be the short term and potentially long term starter at
that spot. And they got a good safety coach and
Joe Casper to help develop those guys.

Speaker 10 (22:53):
So that's one spot to look at. The cornerback spot
is the other spot.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
Keeley Ringo, another high draft pick from a couple of
years ago, is competing with a veteran and a Dori Jackson.
They also have been splitting those first team reps. They're
trying to replace Darius Slay, who was a really, really
good player for them in that Super Bowl run.

Speaker 10 (23:11):
And I'll tell you this.

Speaker 9 (23:12):
Keeley Ringo discussed how he's been working with their secondary coach,
Christian Parker, about learning the whole defense, not just his position,
to know what his help is. He's been groomed to
be ready for this role and the hope is he
can take over and that youth helps them potentially get
another Super Bowl in Philly.

Speaker 8 (23:29):
Paldy, you know, Cam, you said something that was really
spot on about Vic Fangio and this defense, and it
was you know, show me is really what he wants
to see. I remember being in Brazil week one against
Green May and it was a little bit uncertain who's
gonna be in the right corner.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
James Bradnor is fighting through an injury.

Speaker 8 (23:50):
They hadn't really named Quinnyon Mitchell to be the starter
of the right corner, but they started him that night,
and he started him for the next twenty games in
a row. And he was a star, and so was
Cooper dejen And at this time last year they were
just rookies, but they were the right rookies.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
And just watching him in mini camp.

Speaker 8 (24:07):
Last Wednesday, these guys never stopped working on the fundamentals,
the drills to footwork, Like it was impressive to watch
them go to work.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
Now you know they go out in the draft.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
Jahat Campbell, they trade up together, and so when you
watch him like he's not practicing now he's coming back,
you know from the shoulder, you know ailment that he
had a year ago. But you put jahat Campbell and
Zach Bawd together, it might be it might be the
best linebacking corpt football. I thought Zach Bond was the

(24:37):
best linebacker in football last year. I thought he could
easily been the defensive player of the year. He fit
perfectly in the scheme and so now you're just okay,
like put that together, put the rotation together.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
On the defensive line.

Speaker 8 (24:49):
Jorge Davis is lighter than he was any point the
last three years. He should play more. You know, you
go out and get Josh Uesday, and you go back
and you get Azizo Jallai to go with Nolan Spin
and you get depth. I mean, they want to rotate
eight guys up front every game and just rotate them through,
keep them fresh. The one guy that played more staff
to anybody last year was Jalen Carter, and he should

(25:11):
He's just that dominant.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
He's that good.

Speaker 8 (25:13):
He's gonna draw double teams almost every single play he's
used to seeing it and freeze up everybody else, you know,
and a lot of protections to win one on ones.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
And it was a big part of their success last year.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
It's Baldy versus Vic Fang. You to see how many
players can be named in one sound. I'm still laughing
at Vic. I counted twenty three that he named, but
that count may have been off because our producer Todd
Mosberg kept hitting the button to laugh every time he
said another player name.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
But yeah, you guys both do a great job. And
THO and the roster topped a bottom as well.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Cam Wolf, hang in there because we're going up the
turnpike to the Jets. Justin Fields he signed that deal
and everybody said, well, it's really not like top starting money,
so maybe they'll do No, They're going into the season
giving the ball to Justin. Field's confident in him that
he could be the starter and he can help this
he even win some games. Here is Aaron Glenn, the
new coach, on his new quarterback.

Speaker 15 (26:05):
He leads by the way that he wants to lead,
all right. His influence with the guys out there. I
think you guys can see it. He can galvanize a
group of men.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Listen.

Speaker 15 (26:18):
Obviously, he's a talented player, and I'm happy that I
have him as my quarterback.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
I really am, because I think I think the Scott's
are limit for this player.

Speaker 6 (26:26):
I really do. Listen.

Speaker 15 (26:27):
I'm not going to go out there and say that
he's the next Joe Name or anything like that, but
I will tell you what, man, He's gonna be a
good player for us, and I'm excited what he's gonna
do for us this season.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Look, Baldy and Caam, you look at this and you say,
some people say, well, Justin Field may not be a
complete NFL quarterback, but the one thing throughout his career
he's always had the respect of the locker room.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
So you talk about leadership there.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
In fact, last year in Pittsburgh when they made the change,
a lot of guys in that locker room looking around
like why.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Are we doing this right now? So you know he's
got that leadership and that ability he does.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
And I is a good word that Aeron Glenn used.

Speaker 8 (27:01):
He did the same thing at Ohio State when he
was there as well, fighting through the pandemic and playing.
But you know, you go out and watching them on
the field, you can't take your eyes off of them
because you might miss Aaron Judge at the plate hitting
a home run. That's what I saw and practiced last week.
But I'll say this, in just watching armand Membu the
new right tackle, like I think, you know, the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
Is only good as the pieces around him.

Speaker 8 (27:26):
I believe that Justin Fields might very well be playing
behind the best offensive line he's played behind before. There's
Aaron Glenn looking over his offensive line right there and
watching the guys go to work.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
But you know, they're young.

Speaker 8 (27:38):
They got to come together, but they've got pieces there,
and they've got depth, young guys that have played. Last year,
there's time we had a lot of veteran guys that
weren't practicing. They're all rehabilitating injuries. They've got a healthy,
young group that can go out there and work every day.
And that's what Eric Glenn saw in Detroit with all
of his offensive line. And if this group comes to

(28:00):
yeahther right now, I mean, I'm just taking Justin Fields
watching in practice, running through the defense, throwing a Mason Taylor,
you know, hitting Derrick Wilson down the field.

Speaker 6 (28:08):
Like, I think the offense has a chance to.

Speaker 8 (28:10):
Be really good if they're really good up from because
the backs are there. The tight end is young, but
he's going to be a good player. And if Justin
Fields gets the trust that he might not have had
in past years in this line camp, like this fight
just might have a chance to take off.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
Baldy.

Speaker 9 (28:27):
Just fans should be excited about this new era of
Justin Fields and Aaron Glenn. And the word trust you
use is a great point. Aaron Glenn talked about the
quiet confidence that feels has and allowing him to lead
his way, allowing him to play the full quarterback position.
So often he's been pressed into being this runner or
doing these different elements. He's been empowered by this new

(28:47):
staff and we saw him last year in Pittsburgh. He
had a great spurt before he was benched. He's got
a bond with Garrett Wilson. They played together Ohio State.
Fields was talking about how they played two K in
their dorm and the play Madden. Recently, they're kindling that
bond together. And what's interesting you might have saw on
one of those clips, Field's is wearing the helmet camera
on the top of his helmet. All the Jets quarterbacks

(29:10):
are doing something to help them for their progression. It's
a learning tool, something they can watch back and help
them through some of the things Fields may have struggled
through early in his career.

Speaker 10 (29:18):
Is something Miami's done with Tuatsungo Bailoa.

Speaker 9 (29:21):
Atlanta did it last year with Kirk Cousins of Michael Pennix,
and so just an example of how this new staff
is trying.

Speaker 10 (29:26):
To get the most out of justin fields and.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
You justin fields and the Jets a couple of more
practices here to polish up in the spring before they
get ready for training camp in the summer. Brian Faudinger,
go catch that flight to Tampa Bay Camera Wolf. Appreciate you.
Always looking for more insight from you. As the spring
session winds up and the NFL preseason is just around
the corner, An NFL Network will carry twenty one line games,

(29:51):
including a week one doubleheader on Thursday, August seventh featuring
the content Ravens, followed by Pete Carroll's return to Seattle
as Raiders head coach, and that Friday night after could
see Browns quarterback Shadors Sanders under center for some reps
versus the Panthers. Go to NFL Network on Instagram to
see the entire schedule. Might even see me, Might even

(30:12):
see Michael f. Florio, who knows we gotta produce that content.
Though Florio no pressure here. So let's go to the
fantasy outlook for the NFC West. Let's start with the
forty nine ers. Do you factor in like contract drama
when it comes to forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Because there is none This year they took care of everything.
Does that help their fantasy outlook?

Speaker 16 (30:32):
Yeah, last year was such a weird year for like
every single forty nine er, and it's led to them
being maybe the most discounted offense in fantasy football.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Kyle Sheenhan's offenses every year three years in a.

Speaker 16 (30:43):
Row, top five in total yards, and Brock Perdy last
year he had the largest difference in twenty twenty four
touchdown rate compared to career normal, so luck was not
on his side. He still was QB ten in points
per game and he's getting drafted.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Even later than that.

Speaker 16 (30:58):
CMC's upside is still the player in fantasy, but he
goes in round two, the cheapest he has been since
he broke out in Carolina. Kittle is the one forty
nine er you really don't get a discount on most
points he scored in fantasy since twenty eighteen. Kind of
a career year, which gives me a little skeptical to
pay full price.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
And then they're wide receivers.

Speaker 16 (31:17):
None of them have an ADP inside the top thirty five,
despite Juwan Jennings being top ten and fantasy points per
targets Pearsol average eighteen Fantasy points per game and Ayuk
had a super efficient year two years ago, and then
the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
They're oc Drew Petsing. He has a very run heavy system.

Speaker 16 (31:36):
Top ten in rushing yards and touchdowns both years he's
been there, never been top twenty in passing touchdowns, and
that hurt Kyler Murray because despite running for the second
most yards and touchdowns of his career, he posted a
career low fantasy points per game last season.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
And then Marvin Harrison junior.

Speaker 16 (31:55):
He brings upside as a wide receiver two, but last
season he had the second highest rate of own catchable targets,
most tight window targets, and a lot of downfield usage
from volatility week to week.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Chry McBride is a.

Speaker 16 (32:06):
Beast, but he needs some more touchdowns right, highest red
zone usage of all tight ends and only scored two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
But James Connor another.

Speaker 10 (32:14):
Value, So go out and draft James Connor again this year.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
You know it's rough fantasy analysis. When the close captains,
I don't even know what they put in the bottom there.
When Michae left, Florio goes, I don't even know how
you would spell that. Michael f Let's move along to
the Seattle Seahawks. We covered this earlier in the show.
If you indicate that Sam Donald won't be the starter,
Mike McDonald says, you are crazy. So in the words
of the Late Prince, let's get nuts. No, let's just

(32:40):
cover the Seahawks. However you want to cover the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
I'm not getting crazy.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Look, Sam Donald is going to be the starter.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
That's one of their two big changes.

Speaker 16 (32:47):
The other is Clint Kubiak is their new play caller,
and he runs a lot of outside zone runs, which
could be a really good thing for Kenneth Walker. He
excelled in that system a couple of years ago, although
it is worth pointing out that he took a little
bit of a step back in that regard last season.
And as for Sammy D, he's coming off of a
career year. Lots of doubts if he could duplicate it

(33:08):
again without koc and the Vikings weapons, So he is
just going as a late round pick in fantasy. But
JSN is the one that I have the biggest questions
on last year because he led the NFL.

Speaker 10 (33:18):
In yards from the slot.

Speaker 16 (33:20):
But Cooper cup is also better from the slot, so
if he has to play more out wide. That is
a volatility that makes him more of a wide receiver.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Two.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
And then there's the rams, which are as straightforward as
you can get right.

Speaker 16 (33:31):
Phoka Nakua being the crown jewel there because last season
he was top five in targets, yards, and fantasy points
per game. He led all receivers and fantasy points per route,
finishing as the best wide receiver in fantasy.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Is in his range of outcomes.

Speaker 16 (33:46):
DeVante Adams made a move to the slot last year
and it really helped him in fantasy. So this year
playing the cup role, operating out of the slot and
likely seeing a lot of end zone usage, he is
a safe wide receiver too. And then there's Kyenilliams, who
is top thirteen hundred yards and fifteen touchdowns two years
in row, yet he's always doubted in fantasy. He goes

(34:07):
outside the top ten running backs in the late third round.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
I'll take Kyron at that price all year. Depending on
how it goes.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Kyra Williams could be playing for a contract, which is
good to have that kind of motivation on your side
for fantasy purposes. Michael f Florio catch him on the
NFL Network Instagram. Maybe I thought that was a good
segment right there. We'll see if it winds up there.
Buccaneers rookie camp is approaching and Mecca Igbuka, the first
round pick arriving in the sweetest shirt. Hey, what's up
Nowson Luis Buccaneers Media Relations.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
That is an amazing shirt. I'm not a Buccaneers fan,
never been one, not a fan of any team right now,
but I would love to have I would wear that shirt.
That's how sweet that shirt is.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Sarah Walsh and like Jerry Seifeld talking about Jack Klumpass's pen,
the Buccaneers said, you like the shirt, take the shirt,
Nelson Louise, send me the shirt right here.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
It's real straight. He's got Bucko brew Us in the backround.
I'm going to become unplugged. But I want to show
you that.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
And they said, we're gonna do you one better, Steve Weish,
We're gonna get you and Mecca and Boka for the show.
While you're wearing the shirt, joins us, It's amazing. How
many times have you done this one at Mecca? Because
this thing is awesome? Yeah, no, it's amazing. I mean
you look great. You you rocket probably better than I
do well.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
I got at least I got the colors that.

Speaker 13 (35:26):
Yeah, exactly, you look good, you know.

Speaker 17 (35:28):
I mean I'm just hearing my you know, post workout days,
straight out of the meetings, all that type of stuff
I should have I should have thrown on my own shirt.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Then it's all it's all good.

Speaker 13 (35:38):
Yeah, he's doing the real work.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
He's doing the real work.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
He is.

Speaker 13 (35:42):
You know, you talk about, you know.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Doing the work and come out of meetings and all
this stuff. Right now, the OTAs, what are some of
the things that you have learned, you have, coaches, your teammates,
whatever that you think are going to help make you
better entering your rookie season.

Speaker 17 (35:57):
Yeah, I think you know, con dur in the room
that I'm in with such you know, established vets and pros,
and you know, with a guy like Baker kind of
at the helm of the offense. I'm just taking bits
and pieces every single day learned from them. There's really
not you know, something a scenario throughout the day where
I don't learn from them. So I'm just trying to,

(36:18):
you know, use every experience here to be able to
learn and grow and establish really a routine here in Tampa.

Speaker 13 (36:24):
So that I can be the most successful I can be,
and back.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
I want to talk about your relationship with Baker. I mean,
you get drafted and immediately Baker says, I need his number.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
I got to text him.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Jason Light says, you're gonna love this guy. You're out
to brunch with him and his wife, Emily just a
couple of days later. How has he helped you assimilate
right away? And how much of that excitement that Jason
Light said he was going to have. How much is
that shown itself already?

Speaker 13 (36:51):
Yeah, it's been awesome.

Speaker 17 (36:52):
You know, at that brunch it was Baker and his
wife obviously, but he also invited kind of all starting
alignment out so able to you know, meet them for
the first time and see who's going to be holding
up for protection while I'm.

Speaker 13 (37:05):
Trying to get open downfield and everything like that. So
you all them was really cool.

Speaker 17 (37:09):
But you know, Bakers is such a professional in the
way that he handles all of his business, and you know,
I think I am in that way as well, so
to be able to learn from him, and you know,
kind of after practice, whenever we you know, connect on
a pass or even if we don't connect on a pass.

Speaker 13 (37:25):
We're always learning for ways to grow and get better.

Speaker 17 (37:27):
And know he's always given me, you know, nuggets to
be able to analyze defenses and how to you know,
change my route and all that type of stuff. So
it's always a very cerebral approach when it comes to
our conversations on the field.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
And I'm sure you appreciate him being wise enough to
take care of his offensive lineman, you know, like he
does to protect him.

Speaker 13 (37:45):
But I want to tell you.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
You mentioned earlier about the room you're in Mike Evans,
Chris Godwin, Sterling, Shepard, guys like that, veteran players. What
are some of the things I mean, do they talk
to you about this or that? Are they kind of
let you be you and kind of figure things out
on your own.

Speaker 17 (38:00):
No, it's they're very supportive and everything that I do,
and give me a lot of tips and advice. I
think that, you know, kind of every time I come
back from running a router or maybe I ran a
good route, or if I if I didn't run a
good so good route. You know, Sterling's one of the
first ones to be able to tell me and we'll, uh,
you know, watch it together on film. You know post

(38:21):
practice and we're always studying the game. So and then
you know Mike and Chris their guys who I can
just pick their brain about anything football or not football.
They're always here to be able to help me. So
that's something I've really learned since the second I got
here in Tampa. They're they're very supportive.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
You got a new offensive coordinator this year, Josh Grizzard,
the new OC. They're another change in offensive coordinator. Keep
getting hired away there in Tampa Bay. But this is
your first intro here. From what you're seeing from the system,
because this is the time of year where you're installing
a lot of the key elements.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
How do you think that's going to benefit what you
do and what the team has in general?

Speaker 17 (38:58):
Yeah, I think playing for coach grid As thus far
has been a really good experience for me, just seeing
how his mind works, how he's able to put players
in positions to be able to get you know, certain
looks and targets and get the ball in the hands
of all the playmakers and stuff like that. Very creative
with all the stuff that he does, but also doesn't
over complicate things, allow us to you know, go out
there and play football, like how we know how to

(39:20):
you know, we get paid a lot of money to
be able to do this, so he puts a lot
of the trust in the players.

Speaker 13 (39:24):
So I really respect that, Beka.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
One of the things that the Buccant is they're very
involved within the community and recently, you guys just did
the Cut and Color Funds the Cure event, which helps
raise money and awareness of pediatric cancer. What was that
like for you, especially because so many folks in an
organization have participated in this for years.

Speaker 13 (39:44):
Yeah, it was amazing. That was obviously a first experience
for me.

Speaker 17 (39:47):
Kind of just right after we got off the practice
field yesterday, we headed on to the indoor and we
got the kids, you know, shave a couple of people's
heads and spray paint everything.

Speaker 13 (39:55):
I got my beard done and it washed off on now,
but you know, I have this side was read.

Speaker 17 (39:59):
This side was so just being able to connect with
those kids, and honestly, they just inspire me and give
me hope knowing the things that they're battling and going through.

Speaker 13 (40:09):
You know, they're a lot stronger than I could ever be.
So I know that they look up to this team.

Speaker 17 (40:13):
There's a lot of people who are huge fans of
the Buccaneers, and just to be able to take that
second out of my day and make theirs mental world to.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Me, good on you, Good on the Bucks.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Over eight hundred thousand rays now in the history of
the event for the Buccaneers, getting close to a million,
going to cross that threshold, and Mecca, look, I'll keep
this in the closet.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
The next time you come on, you throw it on.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Okay, so make sure that I'm wearing this, But I
gotta be honest, like there's different ways I've got it
buttoned up. Bert Kreischer one of the more famous Buccaneers
fans that's out there, the comedian. You know, he's known
for taking his show, so he wears it open. Is
a relatively tame picture, but he usually wears it open.
Should I go Burt style or should I go with
the style that I got right now?

Speaker 4 (40:56):
What do you think?

Speaker 13 (40:57):
I think?

Speaker 17 (40:57):
It depends on the scenario. It's a very versatile shirt.
I'm saying, if you're at the beach or something like that,
you got to wear it open. That's the only that's
the only acceptable answer. But right now, you know we're
we're on talk show I think it's appropriate to have
it buttoned up.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Goods.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Yeah, well its not the This is not the beach
behind me. I don't see any palm trees behind me,
So we'll keep it.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Buttoned up and business like a mecca booka U man,
what a great appearance from you here on The Insiders,
the first of many. We hope as you set on
your NFL career. Wish you the best, looking forward to
talk to you in the future.

Speaker 13 (41:28):
Yes, sir, thank you guys so much for having me.
It's been in blast.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
The Buccaneers have won a Super Bowl? How about the
teams that haven't. Who's got the best shot in twenty
twenty five?
