Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
It is Jason Brown from The Fred Show, and I
am so excited to talk to this artist today because
I think.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Everyone knows a viral track by him.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
But then when I sort of dug through the rest
of desography, I was so impressed.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
So I want to welcome alumni Cloud. How are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Hey, I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Thanks for taking the time to chat with me today.
Because you're staying booked and busy. Your man, you're flowing up.
So I am super honored to talk to you now
because I'm sharing like a year from now, you're gonna
be like, Jason, who who are we talking to? I
have five billion million streams a month. You don't even
need to worry about me. How First off, let's just
start out, how are you? How are you doing?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm doing great. Honestly, it's been it's been an incredible
journey and uh, just a whirlwind of you know, how
things have started moving in motion and uh it's just
so incredible to finally get to, you know, make music
for a living and do what I love as you know,
a profession.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I mean everyone deserves to do what they love to
do and what they're put here on this earth to do.
And I truly think that that you're in your right spot.
You're doing exactly what you were called to do.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
But if anyone.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Hasn't heard of you or no of you, can you
give me a little bit about, you know, where you
started and why you decided to get into music and
make this sort of your your lane.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, So it's actually really funny. The earliest video that
I have of me ever, you know, doing any music
of any sorts, I was five years old and my
mother made the incredible mistake of leaving a freestyle Friday
on the television, okay, and I sat there and I
was just absolutely astounded by watching these artists just come

(01:49):
up with lyrics off the top of their head. And
I it was sort of like the skies opened up,
and it was like, this is exactly what I want
to do with my life. So I spent twenty years
perfecting my freestyling abilities. I competed in all sorts of competitions.
I actually went sixteen competitions undefeated for my freestyling, which
was yeah, super duper awesome. And that's when I sort

(02:14):
of took this step into all right. I think it's
time I start recording actual songs. And then my most
my current single that's a really big popular hit at
the moment. Two. Since most of that is actually a freestyle,
I sat down and just turned the microphone on and said,
all right, let me just you know, say what my
heart is feeling right now, and I just I love

(02:35):
that it's resonated so well.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
That's awesome because we talked to a lot of artists
and watch a lot of interviews and whatnot, and it's like,
to me, it seems like the magic always comes from
the songs that like didn't take hours and hours and
hours and days and days for the majority of it
to come out. I know that, you know, you kind
of always tweak you here and there, but like the
general idea or lyrics or in your or in your

(02:58):
you know, in your case, the bars just sort of
came out right as you said, Like that should feel special,
because like that should feel like you were in the
right place, the right time, doing what you were meant
to do.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Right.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Absolutely, it was that song in particular, was I had
legitimately three days prior, I had quit my job and
said I'm going full time on music. I'm gonna lock in,
and I sold my car to pay the rest of
my bills for the rest of my lease, and I said,
you have until the end of this lease to make

(03:32):
something happen. And I was really just sitting in that
headspace of you know, I want to chase my dreams,
but it's kind of impossible. Yeah, not impossible, clearly, because
now as we all see, it's turned out very well.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
But it possible for you, very possible for you.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, it's possible for everyone. Truly. I think there's enough
room at the table for everyone to eat. I think
that there's you know, plenty of talent and just lovely
people out there in the world who just need to
take that chance on them and take that risk. And
I'm so happy that I did it because I knew
if I didn't, twenty years down the road, I would
resent myself for it.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So yeah, no, take the risk, I mean, and it's
paying off. I mean, it's huge.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Can you sort of let you're talking about your song
two Cents, which I'm sure everyone has seen tiktoks people
using your sound and all that stuff. Can you tell
me just from like the day or the morning that
you woke up and you saw the jumping streams or
the jump in usage, like.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
What that felt like?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Like? Try to put that into words, because I'm sure
it was like out of this world, see.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Right, Absolutely it was. Honestly, I think I had my
first outer body experience. Like I remember, I had been
checking the streams daily, and you know, I was happy
when I was getting two thousand plays a day. I
was like, this is so cool. You know, two thousand
people out here, you know, listening to my stuff. And
one day I wake up and I look and it

(04:57):
had two hundred thousand streams in a day, over one
hundred fifty different listeners, and I immediately like what. Yeah,
I remember I shook my girlfriend awake, I show her.
I was like, babe, look at what's going on right now.
And then from there it's just been on an upward
trajectory that has really, you know, changed my life for
the better. And I honestly, words will never describe how

(05:19):
how honored I am that people love this song, but
just truly that people have even taken the time to
listen to me. I love it truly.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, Well, that's amazing that you still feel that way,
and hopefully that continues because these are the You're the
type of person that we want to root for, right
that we want to see you know, success and songs
and albums and plaques and tours and like all that
good stuff. And as I was diving through, like the
rest of the stuff that you have out right now,
you have a couple songs out on streaming obviously two cents,

(05:51):
and then there's there's at least one other where it's
sort of you get this sort of like throwback e
vibe when it comes to the beat or whatever. What
me did you sort of use that sample or go
in that lane of using that sort of old school
almost like jazzy vibe in a couple of your tracks.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, I I love music as a whole. I am
not I will never label myself as a rapper, as
a you know, as a singer, as a pop artist.
I like to just say that I am an artist
through and through. Whatever sort of you know, pulls at
my heart in the moment is exactly what I like

(06:32):
to work with. And that's why if you go through
my discography, it was it was a hard to sell
it first, but I'm glad that it's working out with
a lot of you know, places where like we we
want you to you know, rap, you're really good at rapping,
You're really good at freestyling, So rap rap, rap, rap rap.
And I said, that's great, But I don't know a

(06:53):
single person on this planet who only likes one genre
of music. So why why must we continuously put artists
into a box where they can only do one style
of thing for the rest of their career. And so
I wanted to make sure that my discography out the gate,
every single song sounded completely different and had a different vibe.

(07:15):
So whenever you're going through my catalog, you can never
be like, yeah, that's that's the rapper. No, it's it's
he's he raps, but he sings, he does, he plays
all these instruments. He does. He loves jazz, he loves soul,
he loves folk, he loves funked whatever it is. Yeah,
if it sounds good, I love it.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yeah, No, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
And you could tell that, and I will shout out
pleasure because you mentioned that you sing, you sing a
little bit, No, you sing bro like it Like, No,
it's not because I guess people that just hear too
cent for the first time, right, Just like you said like, oh,
he's a raper, blah blah blah. But then when you
follow up his other stuff like no weight, like you
dabble in electronic like super Seat of Technoe sort of stuff, right,

(07:54):
and then you have pleasure. That's almost like I sent
it to our program director who handles our R and
B stage, because I was like, this is an R
and B song, Like you need to like check this out, Like,
but it's so cool, But can I make you just
your request. I'm obviously we played Top forty here, so
we play a little bit of everything.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
But I'm a big country fan, so.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I need you to dabble a little bit in that realm,
like give me a little you know, Cowboy Carter moment.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
No, I what's really funny about that? So shout out
to my grandmother real quick. She actually spent you know,
her entire upbringing, you know, chasing the country music artist,
you know stable. She wrote a whole bunch of songs
and did a whole bunch of stuff, and it never
really came to too much fruition. But I actually I've
been recently trying to drag her back in and say

(08:40):
you made some great music. Let's let's make a country
song together, Let's do you know, Let's let's.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Show the Grandma feature.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
We need that. But right now, I actually, believe it
or not, I have about forty five songs that are
already set and ready to go, fully mixed, mastered, produced
by me. And the next one that's dropping is with
a great friend of mine. His name is Johnston, and
it is called Pack your Bag. It's actually a pop

(09:09):
punk hip hop fusion and it goes crazy. It is
so good. I'm so excited to get it out there.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
I'm so excited for that because I actually was having
a conversation the other day, we were talking about booking
a show an artists or whatever. I was like, there's
such a revival right now of that, like two thousand's
pop punk, like that sort of vibe. Like I find
myself listening to like my old playlist and stuff because
I'm like, oh wait, like that early too, like all
American rejacs and like all that like is just like
so in right I don't know everything throwback is in

(09:37):
right now, but like it's like that is such a vibe.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
I can't wait to hear that. Besides that song, what
else do you have coming up in twenty twenty five?
More music? Are we doing shows? What's the plan?

Speaker 3 (09:47):
So right now I am I'm sort of I actually
have I have three albums that I'm currently working on
simultaneously with three different producers, and then I have my
own EP that I'm dropping as well as long as
as well as a whole bunch of other singles. I
have a whole bunch of music that's on the way,
so please stay tuned for that. My goal is I really,

(10:08):
really really want to get a tour going here very soon.
I want to start, you know, really getting out there
and getting to just perform. And the big thing that
I really want the world to know about me is
if you ever come and see me in concert, I'm
known for being very lively and having a great time,
but I have always started my shows with a freestyle,
and that is what I'm so excited to start getting

(10:32):
out there into the world. I know I've done lots
of shows in the past, I've had lots of fun,
but that is the one thing I truly truly want
to be remembered for is just I love freestyling. Hip
Hop is my home, it's my heart, is my soul passion,
and I'm so excited to get to share that with
the world because we live in the unfortunate day where

(10:54):
no matter what you can say, it's a freestyle but
unless you're there in person and seeing it with your
own wise, yeah, you never know if you can truly
believe it. And I've sort of I've come up with
ways so I can show that this is really off
the top of the head thick well.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I bet, I bet.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Alumni Cloud Live experience is like the vibes are just immaculate.
Just I could tell just from the type of person
you are in your persona online and now you know,
meeting you, like I could just tell. So make sure
you do a Chicago date please, And I want to
make sure that you stop by. But also that I
want to do ticket giveaways. I want to promote it.
I want to spread the word about Alumni Cloud please.

(11:31):
So I always end with two questions. And I think
I can tell a lot of people by okay, and
they do not relate to each other, but they're very
important to who I am as a person. Okay, So
if you're on the road, you're on a road trip.
I don't know if you're did a road trip. But
if you're driving and you're you're hungry a little bit,
you want to stop at a gas station. What's your
go to gas station snack?

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Go to gas station snack that? Okay you know those
those uh they're the little like garlic bread chips.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, they come in like.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
The checks mix, but they sell bags that are just
specific like just the garlic.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Okay, got it. Oh, okay that.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
With like a nice like mountain dew voltage. Any day
of the week, I'm a happy camper.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Yeah, that's gonna keep you awake to the rest of
the road trip. Mine's very similar. I have and my
friend actually turned this on to me, so I can't
claim it that I discovered it. But it's the combos.
You get one bag of cheese, you get one bag
of pepperoni, you mix it together, and that is like
the combination off the hollows, you know.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
What I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
So that sounds incredible.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
It is it is.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
I also think like gas station cuisine is like something
we don't talk about, but like it is something like
it is you like you can there's some good ship.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Absolutely listen. The amount of times seven eleven like Midnight
there you get just like the hot dogs off the
spinning wheel, Like that's my jam.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
And finally, I am a huge pop music fan. I
will always say my ultimate queen of all time is
Britney Spears. That is my queen of music. If you
had to pick one female artist of all time, that
is your queen.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Who is it?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Oh uh? You know? There is one album that I
perpetually re listen to anytime I want to, you know,
feel something that can always invoke emotion, and that's gonna
I'm gonna have to go with Lona del Ray because
Lona del Ray her her whole you know, Summertime Sadness
Era really just like floored me. I remember I could

(13:36):
like see colors listening to that song that when it
first like played through my speakers, I was like, this
is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, and I
have chased trying to create that level of beauty to
this day.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
I'm like, well, you're gonna get there. I know you will.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
And that's so funny, Like I literally have children right
now because I do a show on Saturday where I
get to pick one song. I call it my certified
Bop of the week and I get to pick one
on that maybe you haven't heard in a minute, and
I picked for this week Summertime Sadness on adult Right,
I'm not even drinking, like I just did it. I
just recorded it. Like that's so crazy, Like we're like

(14:11):
meant to be best friends. That's what that may think,
you know. Oh my god, well, Alumni Cloud, you are amazing.
Two cents is a song out right, is the song
right now that everyone knows. But Pleasure is your latest
release right with more music to come. So if you
haven't checked him out, like please, wherever you get your
wherever you're stream your music, check out Alumni Cloud. Like
he is so talented, the production is so good, the

(14:33):
lyrics are so good, and I can't wait to see
what happens the rest of this year and beyond, because
you're about to blow up already know it.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Thank you, Thank you so much. And one last little
fun fact before we get out of here. Uh you
know Illinois. I actually I graduated from o'fallen Township High
School in o'fallen, Illinois, so not too far away by
any means, oh my god, born and raised, but I
did live in that small, little town for quite some time,

(15:00):
and I do have some love for Illinoid till the
day I die, for sure.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Awesome. Well that's gonna make your hometown show even bigger.
I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Absolutely well, thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
I really love my cloud. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Have a good rest of your day, and we'll talk soon,
all right, of course, bye bye.
