Speaker 4 (00:43):
Actress Sydney Sweeney is getting absolutely annihilated on the internet
right now for her new American Eagle Denim ad So here,
I'm gonna play it for you and then we'll talk
about all the things that people are saying.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
Jans are passed on from parents to oscaring determining traits
like high color personality and nave an eye color.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
My jains are blue, Sidney's tweeny has great keens.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
What hold on, hold.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
On, hold on chans a pasta from parents to offspring,
often determining traits.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
You know, it's crazy. I didn't. I was really excited
about this. I bet you what I didn't know, But no,
I didn't want to tell you guys, I couldn't. I
was on non disclosure, non disclosure. But that's actually me
doing doing my girl voice.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Oh yeah, it sounds like it.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Passed off from trying to Santa pasta. I'm trying to
mana Blair.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Pasta from parents to offspring, often determining traits like high
color personality, nave an.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Eye color color, my jains are blue, Sidney's tweeny has
very keen.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
It was funny. Is they saved a lot of money?
I did both of the voices on that.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, No, they did save money. And that is your
girl voice. And I think that there's like a reason.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
No teeth lips.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
So here are all the layers of issues that we're
having online. So obviously, first the one that I'll smack
you right in the face, is that that is very
much a la the early two thousands add formula. Right,
we take a hot girl, we sexualize a product that
has nothing to do with being sexual at all, and
we have her kind of sort of make.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
These gems could be sexualized. You know, you see people's
curves and see their button for sure.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
But the conversation is like, usually like ads nowaday, they
just take a different format. Typically it's just the early
two thousands formula And someone said, someone wrote online, are
you trying to appeal to men by objectifying women to
increase women's gene sales?
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I guess, like, why are we?
Speaker 4 (02:50):
They're women's genes, So I don't know what we're doing there,
But that's fine.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's really not the biggest issue.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
The use of the words genes and the double meaning
that they played off of in this ad genes j
E A n S versus g E N E S.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Okay. So American Eagle is an iconic American brand.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Many people online are talking about that, how like choosing
a blonde with blue eyes, talking about how an American
brand it works, and then also saying that genetics are
passed down from your parents to your offspring. Often determining
traits like hair color, personality, and eye color. People feel
that that's not very inclusive, especially now, so I am
(03:29):
just the messenger.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
That is what people are saying online. For me, it's
a bit of a reach.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
But I'm offen about a haaka it says across.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
Yeah, I don't that's it more sting to me. Yeah, well,
everyone has their thing, but it's not great. Yeah, I
don't think in this climate it's great. In my personal opinion.
People are just saying, I really think they went that far?
You really think they meant you really think it was that.
I don't know the.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Answer, of course, because that's the thing.
Speaker 7 (03:55):
It's like, we're gonna have a little more is to
be so out there and be like, you know, spreading
this quote message and I'm using quotation marks right. I
feel like it would be a little more hidden if
that was really the situation, because why would I just
put it in your face.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, I don't know that every single person that worked
on the commercial had mal intent.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Like it's a commercial about jeans and they're talking about jeans, Like,
I suppose you could make that reach, but I see
why people would make them. But I also don't I
also don't necessarily know that. I don't I don't know
that they were that thoughtful about it. I mean, I
think they were probably focused on her looking hot in jeans,
and I think that was so. I think the rest
of it might be a little bit.
Speaker 7 (04:31):
But if you are like her PR team, wouldn't you
kind of be like, hey, maybe not like today, we
don't do this.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
That's my point is that the amount of people had
to pass through at times where we're losing inclusion programs people,
you know what this climate.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
I think it's tough to.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Say, I'm blonde hair, blue eyed, this is America, and
we passed down these traits. I don't know whatever. I mean,
that's what the internet is saying. The voice deeply offended
me as well. She doesn't talk like that, so come
on girl.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
Now.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
While we were talking about her, I do want to
mention that she was spotted jet ski with a new
mystery man in Idaho of all places.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
But I loved we don't know who this dude is.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
He was on the back of her jet ski and
I really liked that he was holding.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Her was the driver, and I really like that. That
made me because a lot of times you see that. Yeah,
the little lady you know, hanging on tight from behind it.
And in this case she was like, nope to you,
I'll drive.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
No.
Speaker 6 (05:21):
Actually, what she said is I get on that.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
That's what she said.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Hayley Williams, who you most likely know from Paramore, dropped
a surprise album seventeen tracks.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
It's a solo album called Ego.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I guess that's the word of the day, just a
few days after debuting two songs from it at a
radio station in Nashville, but she didn't say what project
it was from. Fans can access the album and there's
a couple of steps. Go to her website, enter a
sixteen digit code that you can get from buying something
from her hair dye company, good Die Young's New Drops.
So you have to buy one of her products, which
is hey, business woman, you.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Have to buy hair dye to get the code.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Okay, well, listen, we can all be offended by what
we want to be, and that's America.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
It's my job to give you things that piss you off.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
And lastly, Real Quick actor and podcaster Jack Shepherd said
that he and his wife, actress Christen Bell let their
daughters Lincoln age twelve and Delta age ten, swear at
home if it's called for and only when they're respectful,
and it stays in the house. He says, swearing is
simply just noises that come out of your mouth, which
children should understand and assign meeting to themselves with boundaries
(06:27):
like not using them at school or in restaurants. In general,
they just focus on embracing honesty and openness in their parenting.
They prioritize modeling, conflict resolution, apologizing in front of their kids,
which I love, and discussing tough topics like.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Addiction and relationships without shame. So I want them to
adopt me. I love them very much.
