Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, friend?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
One thing about me, I am going to be consistent, okay,
And I have had the craziest week of my life.
I always say that, like every week is the craziest
week of my life, very dramatic.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
But I had a very busy week last week.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
And I looked up and it was already Tuesday, and
I'm like, hold on, we have not recorded a podcast
for the Keykey Court podcast, and we will be staying consistent.
So let's get into a friend. This is actually being
recorded on my phone. I am at my house. I
am sitting on my couch. Lux is sitting in front
(00:35):
of the couch on his little bed or as I
like to call it, his little love seat. My air
conditioner is right next to me, so my little furnace
closet or whatever is so loud, so I hope that's
not interfering with our chat. I have Little Wayne the
Carter six playing in the background on my Alexa in
(00:57):
the kitchen because I was mopping my living room and
playing the Alexa and now I told Alexa to turn off,
but she won't turn off because she can't hear me
over my loud ass HVAC system. So welcome to my
chaotic life. I'm just trying to set the scene for you.
(01:18):
I'm sitting here phone in hand on the couch, in
that little sunken spot on my couch because I've had
this couch for well over ten years now and I
sit on the same part of the couch, so it's
like a nice little crease from all this ass AnyWho.
But yeah, I was like, I'm determined to get another
(01:39):
episode up because I really take Kekey Court. Like I
love Keicki Karayoki. That's so fun to me. Like I
love just having fun and being able to not talk
about heavy stuff and just laugh and play with my
my friends. But Kekey Court is something that I really
want to grow and to really be something like a
(02:00):
really big feature in a really big segment because I
get so many messages from so many people about just
different things going on in everybody's life that we all
can have an opinion about.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
So I'm serious about it.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
So we'll always start off, you know Tuesday's episode. Oh, actually,
the HVAC just went off, So let's see if Alexi
will listen.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Hold on, Alexa turn off? Oh did she listen? Okay,
she did? Wow?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Anyhom So we always have so many things to like
discuss and so much to say, and so I think
this is the perfect place for us.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
And yeah, if.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
You guys missed on Monday, well I don't know who
who is you guys, it's you, because I don't know
who else listening to this part.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Just mean you.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Anyway, if you missed Monday's case, there was a mom
who wrote in and she said that, you know, her
daughter had a friend at school that she would play
with from time to time and go visit. And her
daughter was like, Mom, I don't enjoy going over to
her house because you know, all she does is stare
at her phone and her iPad and she's always on
a video game. Like she's just always on a screen.
(03:09):
And this particular mom has very limited screen time for
her kids, so you know, she's like, my kids only
sit on the on the screen for thirty minutes. Today
they get thirty minutes of screen time and outside of
that thirty minutes, they need to be doing other activities,
which I mean, kudos to you, baby girl. Like in
today's world, today's technology world, managing the kids screen time,
(03:30):
I'm sure it's very hard for parents. I don't have children,
but I have nephews, and yes, I have nephews who
love their iPad, won't leave home without their iPad or
you know, are always on their video game or their phones.
Like it's not you know, I'm not i don't know
what's right or wrong. I'm not a parent, but you know, obviously,
(03:51):
in today's world and technology, we wish kids would go
outside and play more. We wish that they would, you know,
be more engaging in screen time can be extremely addictive.
I'm an adult and I love being on my phone.
I'm always on my phone. I'm always scrolling, I'm always
looking at some type of social media app. You know,
a lot of it is for my job, but outside
(04:12):
of that, my sense of enjoyment, my sense of like
a day off is me rotting on my couch scrolling
TikTok and laughing like.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
That's fun to me, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
And so I can understand how screen time can be
addictive and it could be a problem. So this particular mom,
she's like, absolutely not, my kids only get thirty minutes
of screen time. So her daughter stopped going to visit
the girl and kind of started ghosting her friend, and
the friend's mom inquired, like, hey, why is she she
coming over anymore? And why isn't she you know, wanting
(04:42):
to hang out with my kid my kid anymore? And
she said she tried to be nice at first and
just say, hey, you know, I think they're growing apart.
I think they have different interests. And she was like, girl, no,
what's the real reason. And the mom was like, okay,
well she doesn't want to hang out with your daughter
because your daughter.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Is a screen zombie.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
And then she just went off and was like, you know,
be a real parent and stop letting the iPad raise
your kids. And we just went left from there. And
so she's like, am I wrong for what I said?
A lot of people you know, called in and said no,
she wasn't wrong. Like the mom pressed her for an answer,
she gave her an answer. I just feel like, and
(05:21):
this is probably maybe because of like even with my nephews,
Like I look at my brothers and how they parent,
and I always have an opinion, you know, but it's
like I can't even raise this damn dog.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Like my dog is still.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Not completely botty trained and he doesn't do you know,
he's not the perfect dog, and so it's hard to
judge somebody's parents and skills when you haven't done it.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
So I think I was giving the mom a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Of grace, like, well, you know, her kid might be,
you know, have a little social anxiety, or maybe autistic,
or maybe you know, you don't know the reason. Maybe
the mom is overworked, or the mom is depressed herself
and she can't entertain her kids, whatever the situation may be.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
I was just trying to give the lady grace.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Like, you know, I personally wouldn't have called her kid
a screen zombie, and you know, I wouldn't have judged
her for saying, you know, don't let the iPad raise
your kid. But a lot of parents called in and
said no, like, you have children, you have to be
a parent.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And I'm like, I get that side too.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
So it was a perfect case basically to bring to
a keiki court because I was torn on it and
I need I needed to hear the opinions of people
who have experience and people who just you know, could
give a valuable insight on it. So all of that
to say, like, I still feel like, you know, there's
a way to say things to people, and we can
(06:43):
always extend grace to people because You just never know
someone's situation, but you you do, as a parent, need
to manage your child's screen time because in today's society,
I even find it hard. And some adults can't even
make eye contact anymore, Like some adults have an issue,
(07:05):
you know, holding a conversation. I'm one of those people.
I can obviously hold a conversation. I'm a certified yapper,
but I don't enjoy small talk, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I don't enjoy And maybe it's because of the people
that I have to have small talk with sometimes I
know they're like full of shit, so maybe that's why.
But like you know, I don't necessarily I'm not a
big talker outside.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Of I can't say that I do like talking.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
It's you're right, it's just the people that I know
full of shit anyway. But I know some people, some adults,
grown ups, who don't who can't hold a conversation, can't
make eye contact because they're so addicted to their phones
and to their screens.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
So I get what she was saying.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I just felt like she could have delivered it a
little bit more gently, because you just never know what
another parent or whatever is going through. Or what a
kid's you know, issues are or what they may be.
So anyway, that's my take on it. Let me know
what you think about it. Outside of that, I have
another case, but I think I'm gonna save it until
(08:10):
I'm back in the studio so I can record it
and make sure it sounds it is delivered correctly to you.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
But we can just like I can just vent real quick.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Since you've listened this far, you're clearly one of my
day once and I love you a long time, yes, frien,
I just it's been like a very long week. If
you follow me on social media, you saw I went
to LA to cover the BET Awards, and it's such
an amazing experience to be invited to do something like that,
(08:41):
especially for somebody who loves hip hop culture, loves R
and B, grew up you know, watching BT obviously as
a black kid. It means the world to me as
somebody who loves media and entertainment to be invited there
and for many like the last couple of years that
I've gone, I've paid for myself to go, you.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Know, and I've gone out there.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I've had friends who have been invited and like they
needed a cameraman or they needed an assistant, and I
was like, I'll go, you know, I'll go just to
be in a room and be in the atmosphere and
it's such a great experience. So this time to actually
be invited with Super Dope and be able to go,
and like, you know, I was able to interview so
(09:27):
many people, like so many people in pop culture and
hip hop, and you know, I talked to Jermaine dupri,
I talked to Sierra.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
I'm losing names.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
But it was just like it's almost like you sit
in a room for two days and you do speed dating,
but with celebrities, and you just sit in it, like
you sit in this little living room setup that they
have for each brand that they invite, and the chair
just switches like it's your celebrity of celebrity, all the
Real Housewives and like all a lot of my reality
(10:01):
stars and rappers. So they all came through and it
was just like.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
An amazing weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
But I wanted to make sure that, you know, I
was back on time for Kiki Court on the Fresh
Show Monday morning. So the BT room actually like the
media set up or whatever where we do all the
interviews that ended on Sunday at five thirty pm. My
flight originally was set for five point fifty pm and
(10:31):
I would land back in Chicago at midnight and then
I would get up at three am and go to
the Fresh show.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
That was my original plan.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
However, so you know, in order for me to make
that five fifty flight, I would have had to miss
half of the day on Sunday at BET And it's
only a two day thing, so to miss half a day,
it's like a big deal. And when I was getting
ready to leave to get my uber, you know, they
were like, well, we we got more celebrities coming.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
And we got more opportunities for you to interview.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Like you know, we haven't say you gotta go, but
like we just want to let you know, like you know,
this is so and so it's coming. And I'm like,
oh my gosh. So I got on my phone. I
found another flight. The flight. The flight was at ten
forty pm, right leaving out of Lax, and I would
(11:27):
take that flight and land in Chicago at four thirty am. Okay,
so we would leave Lax at ten forty and land
in Chicago at four thirty. I have to be at
the radio station by five.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Thirty at the latest.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Okay, so really really pushing it. But like I refuse
to call off or miss out on the Friend Show,
you know. I mean everybody gets opportunities to do really
cool things, and obviously, you know you want to be
able to go do that. But you know, I just
didn't want to miss miss the show. So I'm like
(12:08):
forget it. Like I'll take the ten forty flight, I'll land,
I'll grab my bags, I'll get an uber straight to
the station.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
You know.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
After the BT thing, I'll go to the hotel, freshen up,
pack my clothes, head to the airport, and I'll do
the show and then I'll go home. So I it's
like everybody wants to be Ryan Seacrest, everybody wants to
be Steve Well. I don't know about anybody, but for me,
I look at like Ryan Seacrest, Steve Harvey, I'm I'm
(12:41):
you know, even Charlotte Mane, I'm my man was, but
Charlottage and the God Like, these people have multiple jobs
and they are in multiple places. You know, Ryan is
doing the American Idol, He's doing Full of Fortune, He's
doing well, I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I think. It's full of fortune, he's doing.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
The radio show, he's doing you know, he's producing tell
other television shows, he's he's everywhere, and I think people
don't realize all that goes into that. And so I
felt like this was my first kind of like let's
see if I can really do this, Like, let's see if,
because what you don't want to do is try to
do one hundred different jobs and be bad at all
(13:23):
of them. Right, So like for me, I want to
do one hundred different jobs, but I want to be
I want to be excellent at every one of them.
And I refuse to let anything lack or fall by
the wayside. Like for instance, I'm sitting here literally on
my couch recording this podcast into my phone because I
refused to drop the ball on what's important to me.
(13:48):
And I couldn't believe that it worked out and I
pulled it off and I got back. You know, we
landed at O'Hare at four thirty. I caught an uber
God bless this uber guy. He drove so like he
got me right to the station and I was still
there like not even at not even at the latest.
I was there early, you know what I'm saying. So
it was like, Okay, you can do this. And I
(14:11):
got there and I had a good time with the
show and I did my segment, and you know, right
now we're in the process of trying to program cameras
in the studio so that we can live stream during
the show. And I, you know, I handle all the
digital stuff for the show. I handle like posts, you know,
everything that happens after the show, everything that happens during
(14:33):
the show, And I don't think people understand sometimes all
that goes into it. But like coming back from that
type of trip and then sitting on the phone with
engineers for hours to try to program you know, cameras,
and I was like, but this is what you want
to do, right, Like this is a part of that
hole Ryan Seacrest thing, Like you cannot not want to
(14:55):
do that. You know, if you're gonna go out and
be a superstar in LA you need to get back
and handle your responsibility. So that was my my little whirlwind,
and I was so impressed, like I really made it back,
Like oh my god, I just you know, I was
like on a plane, like please don't get delayed, please don't.
You know, sometimes you can get off the plane and
they will take two hours to.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Give you your bag.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
But it all worked out, and I was so grateful
and so thankful. And then I looked up and today
and I'm like, I came home. You know, we did
the show this morning. We did we did the show.
I edited some video for Staygo. I took another call
with the engineers and we went over another training and
(15:38):
you know, we're trying to get these glitches fixed so
that we can stream on YouTube and in TikTok or
whatever during the show so you could actually watch it.
But I took that, you know, did the meeting with them,
and then I went and did my other podcast with
Tone and Sack, and then I was in the car
and the way home and I was like, oh, hell no,
Like I didn't do Kicky Gort today. I didn't do
(15:59):
the podcast yes today, And I was like, that's unacceptable.
So just giving you all of that to kind of
let you know where my mind has been and where
how serious I am about this. So you know, hey,
and I don't know if you whatever you're going through
or whatever you're trying to, you know, you might be
(16:19):
being pulled in a bunch of different directions too. But
never forget like your goal and why you started doing something,
and you know, try your best to be consistent because
consistency really is the key to everything. So if I
gotta get on this phone, if I gotta talk to you,
do a podcast in the airport, whatever, it's gonna get done.
(16:40):
And I just appreciate you even listening to this point,
but I do want to start bringing you on. So
if you have you know, thoughts, opinions on some of
the cases, or you just want to, you know, give
your insight about some things, start messaging me on Instagram
so you can get it like scheduled up or you
(17:01):
can email me, and my email is in my Instagram
and in my bio and all my social sites. But
I definitely want to start bringing you into the conversation
so we can continue to, you know, help people figure
out their lives and figure out tough situations, because you know,
I'm like, I read some of these messages and I'm
(17:23):
just like, wow, you don't think you don't think that
this is happening in people's lives, or you think like, well,
it would be so simple you just do this, and
you know, but it's not always that simple, and I
need your insight and I need your your your thoughts
and opinions always are welcome because I'm not always on
the right side of history as we If you listen
to me on most shows or on my podcast.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
I'm sure you know that by now, but you know
it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
And the each day, I think the more we chat
and discuss things, we can get better understanding for each other.
So you know, with all that being said, I will
be back on Thursday with another case, a new case
that we haven't discussed. But I would love for you
(18:11):
to give me your opinion on the case from Monday
that I broke down earlier, and you can even comment
on it because I put a video up, and I
put videos up of all the cases on my social
Fred show, Socials anywhere.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
So that's it, friend. I'm going to now.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I just mopped the floors dry now as I've been
running my mouth, But I'm gonna go back in the kitchen,
turn on the Carter six Little wayningstew album. Listen to
that while I make some salmon. I'm gonna make stuff
salmon with spinach over homemade mashed potatoes. So I got
some actual potatoes that I'm gonna peel and then I'm
(18:54):
gonna make me some salmon's stuff it put in the oven,
and then I'm going to turn on the BET Awards
and watch them again because I fell asleep on some
of it last night.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
And that was another thing, Like I didn't.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Get to go to the actual awards show this year
because it was on a Monday, and I didn't want
to miss the show. And I'm kind of like, I'm
so bummed because it was this year's award show was
like one of the best that they've ever had, and
I was like, dang man, I could.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Have been there.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
But you know, everything happens for a reason, and I
think I made the right decision. So I'm going to
rewatch it tonight and try to take it all in.
And yeah, so I'm gonna eat my salmon.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
You know.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
I'll probably put videos of what I cooked on social too,
because I can't. For some reason, I can't cook without
making a video. I just think people want to see
it because I love food and I know people love food.
But anyway, Okay, my phone lighting up now, it's been
twenty minutes.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
I love you.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Thank you for listening this far, and I appreciate you
guys for holding me down on any platut for that
you consume my content like the shit means.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
So I think you stop cursing. I don't know why
I be cursing so much these days. I didn't go
back to church. I haven't been at church in a while.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
I just been like watching church on YouTube anyway. But
I love you and I appreciate you so much for
any form of support that.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
You give me, Like it means the world to me.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
This is all I've ever wanted to do with my life,
and so the fact that I get to do it,
I'm just hello, appreciative and I love you so Not
to be all muchy, but I just wanted to give
you a glimpse of what's really, what's you know, the
other side of my life. And I feel like this
is the place where I'm gonna be doing that.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
You know, I'm not here. It's gonna be me you.
It's like me and my friends chopping it up.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
It's not you know, it's not what you get on
what more, it's not what you get on Fred's show.
It's not It's just it's us chit chatting. So sometimes
we'll do like the first two episodes, and sometimes it
might just be me getting out here venting. But I
love y'all, and I love you because I don't know
who else since it is. But I love you, and
I appreciate you and enjoy your day. We'll be back
(21:05):
in the courtroom on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Don't be late. By
