Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lo.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
We are backstage at Lallapalooza thanks to Innovations High School,
and I'm here with Tanner Adella.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
How are you girls?

Speaker 4 (00:06):
I'm so good?

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Before we go any further, I just want don't even
look at me, just look at the fit. Okay, come on, girl,
it's given country music.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Okay with a you? Oh right? I love it?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Oh my god. So we were just talking. You just
slay the stage at How was your first Lala experience?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (00:28):
It was so great.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I feel like I you know, I see a sea
of purple. Olivia's fans are so sweet and attentive, and
I feel like everyone had a really great time.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Oh my god, I am I've loved you for so long.
I'm so excited that I got to talk to you today.
I just think you are giving everything you had it
in insane year, yes, absolutely insane. How are you just like,
how are you holding it together? Like hanging on to
sit back? And you're like, I am that girl.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
You know, I think affirmations are really important, So I
definitely do that two to three times a day.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
But that's you gotta do that.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
You know, you got to tell yourself you are these
things that you want to be it. Definitely, definitely some
mirror affirmations. I got notes on my mirror.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh my god, because you would just serve everything you're serving.
Looks you're serving amazing music.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
You're serving cunt.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
You're serving country. Sure, and I love it lyricism, you're
serving that. Yes, And I want to get into the
EP real quick. But I got to ask what was
the whole experience for Blackbird like, because that had to
be so it was such a cultural moment, not only
because obviously Beyonce did a country album, but because she
got all of you guys together to do that song.

(01:40):
You got to perform it live right, like, Yeah, walk
me through what that was like when you were like,
holy crap, I'm doing this.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
You know. I love that an artist like Beyonce took
so many of us and brought us together for the
greater good of country music. And you know, who knows
if if a black woman can make a change in
country music. But I think what she did was empower
all of us to feel like we can do.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Whatever we want.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yes, and you can.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Whatever you want to do, you can do.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
You can't you are exploding, I am I can't believe
like a year from now, you're going to be like I.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I hope I'm back. I hope I'm back right here?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, you better.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I want to go into your music a little bit.
So Going Blond I love Think. Okay, such an amazing song,
one of my favorites from you. But I had to
ask about the single cover because the hair, the hair,
and if you have not seen the single cover, check
out the hair for Going Blond?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
What's that your hair?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
I don't kiss and tell I have my secrets. My
hair is fall of secrets.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
No, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
For Going Blonde, we did a lot. I just wanted
everything blonde, but I wanted a bunch of different hair
styles and and you know, one of my kind of
concepts was the higher the hair, the closer to God.
But because my mother had passed away, it was kind
of the higher the hair, the closer to Heaven wherever
my mother is, you know, And so I wanted it big.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
I want to and it takes a lot, a lot
of hair, a lot of hair to do that.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
But it's it's not my hairs.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Have you seen Jesse Murks music video where she has
the hair?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Oh? Yeah, I was like period, period, period, we love you, Jesse,
but maybe we should collaborate something with some big hair.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
So we talk about which is out right now?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Right? What was the meaning behind me that?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
So it's it's an album sampler, it's giving it's a
teaser into what is coming. Yes, Don't Pet is a
little bit of an easter egg. As far as the
name of the album, it's a little hint as to
where I'm going with it. But you know, I think
I'm just someone who's not to be trifled with. Don't

(04:02):
tread on me, And I just felt like, don't pet,
don't pet me. Know this ain't a petting zoo, you
know what I mean. Yeah, Like that's kind of the vibe.
So just a couple of songs. I'm really proud of.
Half of it. I wrote just by myself in my
bedroom and I've been doing that, you know, a lot,
more putting out the songs that I've written by myself,
and people seem to really love it, so my gosh.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
And the lyrics are so good. The production is so good.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Like I really, as I was listening to over the
first time, I was like, Wow, you're like really sort
of stepping out, like for sure, like you know what
you want your sound to feel like, coming off as
authentic AF like like, oh my god, I stand her
so much and I'm gonna keep standing her period. You
did post a video and I want you to sort
of tell the story. Oh no, angels, drink whiskey.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Okay, yeah, because yes.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
You're so talented, because when I when, when I'm in
this state, Yes, I am not writing songs.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
I'm surviving. This is oh yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Actually though, you know, I moved to nash.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
In the summer of twenty twenty one and I sold
everything that I could. I was at school in Utah.
I never finished school, but I was at school in Utah,
Utah Valley University, Commercial Music and Vocal Performance.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yes, yeah, well you don't need to study anymore, girl,
because you're already.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah exactly, my voice coaches, why are you here? You
need to choose where you gotta go, and you just
gotta go do the thing. Shout out Nancy and yeah
she's the homie, she's a real one. And yet yet seriously,
and you know, I packed up all of my shoes
and my Yorky and I sold everything that I could,

(05:41):
had a couple hundred bucks and moved to Nashville after
not ever being there.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
I had never been before, never been before. I didn't
know anyone.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Packed up everything except for my piano, which I sold
is the most valuable thing that I had. It was
the hardest thing for me to sell and sold my
piano gave me a couple hundred bucks to be able
to move to Nashville. And the first probably year, so
you know, I was living in low income housing. I
was having my lights turned off, doors, having an event
that I was playing at in the dark, getting ready

(06:14):
in my room with a light.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Like on my phone light, trying to get ready.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
And one of those nights was one of those nights
and I I need a drink. I had a little
drinky drink and whiskey is my favorite. And I was
just sitting there and that inspiration kind of came to me.
And then the rest is kind of a blur because

(06:40):
I woke up the next morning and I had I
had a phone on my phone always the chorus and
the chords, and I was just kind of seeing it.
And then the next day I was trying to do
my laundry actually, and this was the first video I
posted on TikTok. Was I was in the middle of
doing my laundry and I was like, I can't get

(07:00):
this song out of my head.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I have to finished it.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
And I sat played it on TikTok and it did
really really well on TikTok and for that for over
a year, so it's been a long time coming for
that song. But I finished it, and I'm proud of it,
and I'm proud that I wrote it myself. And it
just feels like kind of meant to be.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah you, and I think what you go through, that
whole struggle and everything that you went through. I hope
that it makes you feel that this is so much
more special, like all the success you're having right now,
because like that means you deserve it, and that makes
people like me you want to like yeah you and
like really back you because you deserve it, right, Please
don't ever forget that.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Okay, thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Listen that story you're Oh my god, I love so much. Okay,
So what is coming up for you? Yes, okay, I'm
in the middle of the story right O. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So I'm literally on tour right now. It's a giddy up,
gorgeous tour. My first stop was Chicago and Milwaukee and
then we have Lollapalooza here. I'm headed to Cleveland and
Cincinnati next week, which is Midwest.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Oh hi, yeah, yeah yeah, and just continuing my tour.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
I'm working on my album, finishing that up, wrapping that up,
and just I'm an independent artist, honey, I'm doing this myself, so.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
You better work. I came to work. But yeah, just
on my tour and finishing my album.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
My god, I'm so excited. I'm so excited to hear
another full project from you. Yes, but real quick, we're
gonna do some Laboo Boo bucket questions.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Okay, so this is the lab Boo Boo bucket. Oh
my god, I'm gonna pick a question out.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
We're gonna answer it. I'll answer it Tuesday, not by yourself.
But what will the boobo give to you?

Speaker 4 (08:33):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Question.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
I'm very like into Fortune cookies too.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Whatever I get, I'm scared who I am for the
rest of my life? Oh no, oh no, no, the
tea is hot? Something you think is overrated? Let me

(09:00):
go through my list.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
What's overrated? Okay, I think about this. Uh, what is overrated?
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
I'm not on one, but I don't know if I
should say it.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Okay, and this isn't this isn't, this isn't all of them.
There are a lot of them that I like. Okay, no, no,
I can't say it.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I have one.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
I have one when I went. I think tall guys
are overrated because I love my short kings.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
You're tall.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
I know I'm overrated, but everyone's like, no one people
discount the short kings.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Short people in general are just their bite size. They're
perfectly sized. I don't mind. I don't mind. I did.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Actually I have dated a lot of short guys. Okay, yeah,
my first boyfriend was really sure.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Well, I always felt like I wanted to be like overpowered,
you know, but like my boyfriend of fourteen years is
like a foot tall sure than me. So I'm like,
oh okay, yeah, and no Ring, so Mike right now, hello,
tell him you're like Ring.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Harry one more.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Let's hope it's a little bit scared of that. What
do you pick the same one?

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Like?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Okay to sign sign the number one. This is a
good one.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
I like this one and this will become my whole
personality this week. What is your death row meal.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Oh okay, okay, like that a lot better.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I'm a surfing turf girl. I want a filet mignon.
I want to lapse this tail. Oh and I want
a sticky toffee pudding for dessert because I'm a big
dessert person.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Mine is a lot less bougie Taco Bell.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
What if that would have been?

Speaker 1 (10:54):
That was the first thing that came to mind, But
I was like, no, I can't go out on Taco Bell.
I ate it every day. Do you want to know something?
The most interesting thing about me? I have the purple
card you talk about every day. I really love Taco Bell.
Shout out Taco Bell, Yes, shout out Yeah. If I
ever go to jail, send me stuff, send me talk
about everything.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Please. Oh my god, Tanner Adel, you are everything. Thank
you so much for stopping by. I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
You explode like you are so amazing and you're serving everything,
serving any think you allow to pose up
