Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, they talk better than they These are the radio
blogs on the Fred Show, like for writing in our diaries,
except we say them aloud. We call them blogs. I'm
gonna take this one, dear blog. Can we talk about
concert etiquette? You know, I don't go to a lot
of concerts. I like concerts, but I don't go to
a lot of them because they most of them take
(00:21):
place after six pm on a weeknight, and most of
them involve large crowds of people, and some can be
difficult to get to and fro, you know, depending on
the venue. But this one, you know, it all came
together Jason and our boy Derek at the United Center.
(00:43):
Last minute. There were some extra tickets and we got
to go. So Kaylin, Jason and I we went to
the to the event concert Event of the Century Janet Jackson.
If she's coming to a city near you, I recommend
that you go. I was very impressed. She looks great.
She was really singing most of the songs, and the
one time I don't think she was singing was when
she was dancing her ass off. Oh my god. I
(01:05):
did a lot of anxiety watching She had like four
I think she had four or five backup dancers. It
was her and four or five backup dancers, male backup dancers,
and that was the whole show. Forty songs. She did
forty songs with like maybe thirty second breaks in between acts.
She would do like ten songs in a row and
then take a thirty second break and then do ten
more songs. It was wild. But how the hell this
(01:26):
is actually a side rant? Do those people remember the
dances for forty songs? Like every song has its own choreography,
every song, and they can and I realized repetition and
whatever else, but like that's their job. I don't care. Yeah,
I can't remember what we talked about on the show
(01:47):
last hour and I haven't gotten out of this chair.
It becomes muscle memory. Yeah, like you don't even think
about it after you do it enough times. I was
just amazed. But it was amazing. And like Janet was dancing,
but she was singing a lot, so she wouldn't do
all of the moves. But those guys were dancing their
asses off for three hours. They did it the night
before too, in another city. They do whatever, And I
(02:10):
don't know how they remember. I truly don't know how
they remember. All the moves to forty different songs.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
She had the most clothes on too, Like, did you
know she was wearing every clothing I don't get.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
A trench coat on. I'm like, yeah, my girl, you
gotta be hot in there. But did you go home?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
And you were like because I was, yeah, I was like,
what did you do when you got home?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
For I went to bed? Oh yeah, this is a
big night for you guys. This is a really big night.
The concert event didn't begin until like nine to fifteen
begin Yeah, I mean I was in bedded like midnight.
It's a big night up at four. It's a regular
concert schedule. Okay, But that's not how That's not how
(02:49):
Grandpa over here. That's not how people. It's stressful when
you know you got to wake up earlier this morning.
That's the thing. If it were a weekend, I would
have just, you know, Jesus take the wheel. But here's
my thing. First of all, to standard to stand, and
I feel especially bad because I'm so tall. Now arenas
it works, okay because usually the pitch is, you know,
the pitch of like the seating is such that like
(03:11):
the person behind me was okay, I looked and checked,
like to make sure.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
But because we could see you across the arena, you
could yes, and you.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Were perfectly little. Literally it's like hit you immensely. Like
I was like, oh my god, you could feel you
could see Fred from all the way there. Yeah, I
know you guys love there. Fred was down the well.
I was on the stage. That's why I was. That's why,
that's why I was lit up. There was the Janet section, yeah,
there was on the part where she was feeling up
(03:39):
all the dancers that was me.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, I saw you seeling and I was stressed for
the person behind you, but they were cool.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah. I only had to I was nervous about the
other thirty nine dances. I only had to know the
choreography were one day and that was where I sat
there and she felt me up. Yeah during what song
it was, I can't remember, but she got real handsy
and they got real handsy with her, and I realized
that most of those dancers were born probably thirty years
after her prime. Well for them to be to this
(04:05):
amazing music that and like they're like they were feeling
up Janet freaking Jackson, like honestly, and I thought a
few times, like I was looking at the big screen
and they were like a few shots from the center
where all the dancers were like you know, position, and
she was in the middle. I'm like, I hope someone
takes a screenshot of that and like thirty years from now,
(04:26):
those dudes are like they can look at that picture
and be like I did that, because it's I don't
even know if they can truly appreciate how iconic being
on and I don't know, she's amazing, but to stand
or not to stand because a lot of people were standing,
A lot of people were not standing, and the vibe
of the concert went up and down because she's got
bangers and then she's got slow songs, and so we
(04:49):
I didn't know what to do, Like, am I standing?
I'm going. The other thing is do we do we
talk at all during a concert? Because the person my
friend who went with me, there were some gentlemen next
to us who were very into the event. They were
already wearing their country tea. I don't know if maybe
they got it at a previous engagement and wore it out.
I don't know what it was, but they were like
(05:10):
dancing and they're having a great time and Apparently at
some point my friend leaned over to one of them
and said, what's your favorite song? And the response was
shut up, I'm trying to watch the show, no way.
And that's all she said was what's your favorite song?
That was all she was trying to vibe. And I
would think I've never been to a concert with a
single artist, a singular artist where everybody is not equally
(05:33):
excited to be there, and that wouldn't have been like
a vibe question, like you know, you're asking your seat mate,
like what are he is most excited? To me, it
was real quick, like yeah, that's what I mean, because
we're all there's ninety years that to be able there
for the same reason, like we're all there to see her,
especially and she was amazing, but she's also been around
for forty years, so like it's not exactly like it's
(05:56):
a new fad artist, like you got to be a fan,
you know what I mean. And the tickets were not
cheap either, so like but but I'm like, wait a minute,
so now we don't we don't try and vibe with
our seat mates now, like we don't try to have
like a little party and have like a good old time,
you know, because everybody else was just super happy to
be there. Yeah, and like if you're there and they're there,
(06:17):
then we're all doing the same thing. So I guess
we don't talk. We don't try and make friends at
a concert event, apparently to stand or not to say,
how do we kick you? How do we evaluate? I mean,
there is a seat there, yes, but but if everybody
and I could, I could actually sit and still see
over the people standing. But yet I'm very tall, and
I really felt bad because it's like, if I stand,
(06:37):
I am, I am, I am, you basically got limited
view seating. That's your problem though, that you didn't know
by sitting behind me, you essentially had a poll in
front of you at the Janet Jackson concert event.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's not your fault though, And I always go off
of the person in front of me, So if they
stay in, I'm not going to have an obstructive view.
So I'm gonna stand, And that's what I kind of
judge it off of. And I'm like sorry to the
person behind me, But my issue is the people who
keep going to the bathroom and the bar during the show, Like,
get that.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Together, okay, So we need to be a little more organized.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Yeah, it's like an airplane, bro, get an aisle. See
if you know that you cannot sit still for an hour, right,
it drives me nuts, Like excuse me, stand up and
like I'm big, so like I have to literally stand up,
move out of the high all.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
The way to the air Yeah, you're.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Gonna do that, at least do it when she's not performing.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
The bankers like yeah that.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah, there's a time in a place to go to
the bathroom and go to the bar. Yes, it's when
you're the biggest hits. Yeah, like when you're a little
kid and your mom. I'm about to go on the plane,
like you need to go potty before we go, you know.
It's like I need to say these people, like you
need to go partty because you know she's about to
do forty songs and like you know, I know you're
gonna be drinking your cosmos and whatever, but like come
on now, right, you know now it's not the time
to go merch shopping like we are focused.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yes, I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, don't don't come to my section trying to find
you a seat in the middle of a performance, Like, bro,
wait to the intermission.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Go watch it at the door. Here's another one. If
you know already that you're in a seat, this happened
last night too. If you already know that you're in
a seat that's not yours, don't act surprise. Don't act
surprise when I come walking up, or mad when we
come walking up and we the person is in our
seats and we're like, hey, I think these are ours,
(08:16):
and they're like, I don't think so. I don't think that.
It's like, well, can we just see your ticket? And
there is no ticket because you're not supposed to be there.
That happened to me yesterday. I took Ash into the
movies and it happened at the movie theater.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
What yeah, children at a theater where you have to
reserve the ticket.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
See, I did the whole thing, like.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I waited till the after the previews, so we got
all on popcorn. The movie's about to start. We get
to the seat and there's a guy and his kids
sitting there. I was like, excuse me, sir, I think
you're in our seat. He's just like, well, you could
just sit anywhere.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I was like, no, I paid for these two seats
right here. I have a ticket. I was like not
for these two seats. I was like, get up and move. Yes,
I don't blame you, like you reserve the seats you
paid right, but like if you we've all done the
thing where we go to a concert or in a
sporting event or whatever and we sneak down to seats
that are better than the ones that we paid for,
(09:06):
because I got it, like we've all done it. But
I know the whole time I'm sitting there that like
I'm not where I'm supposed to be, So if somebody
shows up, I need to be very nice and respectful
and get the hell out of there because I'm you know, whatever, No,
this person looks at us like we're the idiots, and
it's like you knew when you stood there, those were
not your seats. You knew there was a chance that
somebody was gonna come and take so just just be
(09:26):
gracious and get the hell out of way, exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
And it also bugs me when they when they finally
do get up and move, and then they go like
two rows down and they fill another pierce of seats,
and you're.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Just like I just want to tell somebody, like I
gotta I gotta tell theybody these people don't belong in this.
That's what I'm saying. You already get the authorities in vote.
We get the authorities in vote. Let me take the
usher right now. I'm gonna get I will get the
authorities in voute. We can do this right now. We
can throw down right now. And I'm missing escapade because
you are in a seat that is not yours. Okay,
(09:56):
I want to take you on an escapade to jail,
straight to jail. Okay, So succeeding, and then don't sit
in the seat that's on yours. And then I agree
with that bathroom and concession break we needed. We need
to plan that out accordingly. I agree with that. And
then let's be nice to each other at a shared
interest of that right, okay,
