to a blog, shall we audio journals like running in
our diaries Kalin.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Go, Thank you, dear blog.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
So, if you've ever lived in any sort of apartment building,
depending on how much they care about their like quote
unquote culture in the building and the vibes, they may
throw some kind of wacky events. Like my last building,
I was like, who is going They would host like
and I'd send them to Jason like lectures on a

(00:51):
certain painter or you know, paint Easter eggs, you know,
as a group for some event. And I'm always like,
who the heck is going to these things? And I
recently moved, and they do do some fun things, like
I'll say, they'll have like some.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Workout classes, or whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
But I got an email about a new event they're
trying to do, and I've never heard of anything like this,
And you guys tell me if I should go or
try to go enter myself. So they said, ready to
meet your neighbors in a fun and memorable way. We're
excited to host dinner with strangers. And that was the
That was the heading for the email. A unique dining
experience designed to bring the Blop community together. Twelve lucky

(01:32):
residents will be selected at random.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Lucky because they're going to be such a mad dash
for this right.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Well to enjoy an all extents paid three cours dinner
and two complimentary drinks.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Oh they made me a mad das for that.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
I might mad dash and I won't say where or when,
but you know they want us to connect, share stories,
and make new friends within our community.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Why wouldn't you go to them? Why not stand for that?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I'm not your far more social than I am, but
I would go to somebody. I think I would even
go to something like that, Like okay, so like, let's
meet the neighbors. I don't really know any of my
neighbors that lived in the same building forever.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, I don't, and I will say.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
We use this app called Kobu, which I actually really like,
and there's a ton of message boards, like there's groups
for people who like wine, there's groups for people who
like certain food.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
You can sell things on there. So I do really
like that.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
But I'm I'm social if I have like one other person,
I'm a little shy if I go into something by myself, and.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I feel a little self.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Conscious about it, like being like because I don't think
you know, both have.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
The energy for that. Yeah, you know, I'm sorry to
know you both get Yeah, so I don't.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
So I'm like, Okay, there's a lot of energy because
it's you when you say twelve people.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Twelve twelve of us.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
If we go to eleven.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
People that you're gonna have to engage with and probably
tell the same story over and over, like you know,
my background or whatever. Unless just sit in bios out
ahead of time, that'd be helpful.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Oh yeah, I don't know. It's just so I never
thought of anything like that.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
And you know, I love a free meal and a
free drink, so I might enter, but I'm a little
shy about it.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I should. I think it would be it would be
cool to know.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, why not, because you you may not have the
occasion to meet any of these people.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Friends I need, not new ones.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
I love you guys if you're listening, but they all
moved away, so I need friends here.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Does your building do things like this, Oh that's a
little cute.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
S they do, like I think they do like a quarterly,
like a little like a like a happy hour in
the lobby kind of thing. The demographic in my building
is usually much older than me. Oh, so it's like
I don't Usually I wouldn't say I don't go because
I'm not interested in meeting these people. They are all
very nice people, but I just I don't know, like
it's not it's usually couples, and it's not really my scene.

(03:33):
I've walked through it before, like leaving, and I'm just
sort of like, all right, this.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Is a little booze. It's almost like it's a little
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, yeah, there's no one, no one. It's not a
place that you would really live with kids. People do,
but it's very few and far between the people who
live in fact, most people I know who were my
age who lived in the building wound up moving out
of it to go to the suburbs to then have
a kid, right, you know, because it wouldn't be easy
because it's small spaces, you know, So you're dealing with
people who mostly have done all that and then move

(04:02):
to the city like empty nesters. Yeah, and so I
probably there's probably a lot of like influential people I
could meet, like your lawyers and judges and doctors.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
And who know, I love old people. I would totally go.
You might get in somebody's will.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
You never know very well, you know what, I'm going
to the next one, thank you go.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
But yeah, so I might. I'll enter myself and tell
you guys if I win.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I've also thought about running for the HOA, the homeowners
you should we should do that. Well, I have no
clue what I even be setting up for. I think
the voting already happened, but I just they complained. People
complain about an awful lot of stuff, and stuff's kind of
whack sometimes, you know, I need to maybe I should
have a voice in this. Then like I'll I'll join
the ho A and then I'll go to the board

(04:42):
meetings and be like, huhuh, you should.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
One of our coworkers is like the president of his
like building, and he's always getting calls though, like yeah
this is broken. The snow is too high, or the
grass is too long, or the washing machine is broken.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Oh yeah, he's the top guy though, right right, That's
why I don't be a full other, full time job
energying to build it.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
You got to be like the secretary or I'm the
treasurer of my You got to.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
The treasure a lot of power. They obviously never listened
to the show. You can't even get on the HIA
asked you to venmo something. You're like, well, actually, as
a treasure, I'm banned from prohibited.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, but I'm a good treasure.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
But I really do much. I just collect the money.
And when you do that, Yeah, they didn't look into
this at all today.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Hey, they don't got to know nothing. Lord, I think
I told you, like they my building's not I don't know.
I mean spend here as long as I've lived here,
so you know, over a decade, but not that long ago.
They decided to repaint the hallways and like recarpet and
it was just this whole project and I like the
way that it was, and I think whoever developed the building.

(05:45):
We spent a lot of money clearly to have like
a design firm. I mean, if you build a seventy
story building, like somebody came in and decked it out,
designed it. You know, it looked great, I thought, and
then we went and changed it because it was it
was the carpet needed replacing stuff. So I get that,
but it was like, I don't know who picked this
stuff out, Like it doesn't it looked better before, Like
why not just upgrade what we already had? Sense whatever.

(06:08):
And so I'm in the elevator after they do this
and this lady's like, what do you think of the redesign.
I'm like, it's ugly, and she's like, I'm sorry you
feel that way. I was the head of the design
committee for the building, and I was like, lady, look,
I'm not trying to offend you. I'm not trying to
offend you, ma'am. I just said, I you know, it
looks very different from the way that it did, and
I just I don't know why we did that. And

(06:29):
I think her, you know, her thing to me was
kind of like, well, then maybe you should be on
the board. And it's like, well, maybe I should.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
She no, I don't like what she did. I think
that that was a satub and that was unfair.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
It would have been nicer for some contact, because I
would have been nicer about it. Of Course, I might
have said, like, you know what, it looks nice, it's
not my taste because it's not my taste. Yeah, because
it's just different. But anyway, yeah, that's probably why I
don't go to the happy hours, because I'm I get
evicted or something
