Good day due well over a million of you, go

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Listen now on Arte Radio.

Speaker 5 (00:18):
Player, brought to you by Heineken zero zero. Get the facts,
be drink aware? Is it drinkaware? Dot i E.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
He claims he brought the mullet back, his short shorts
are a bit too short, and he's nowhere to be
found when it's his round.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
There's my Heineken zero zero.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
But he's our best mate, and even though he's always
banging on about stats past completion, there's no one we'd
rather watch the magic to the sports that bring us together.
Heineken zero zero.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
You know, last night's a really good reason why I
continue to watch baseball. Hi, everybody, welcome on a Wednesday,
here to exis and bros throughout the state of Michigan.
I'm met Shepherd Trent values with us as well, and
we appreciate you being with us and joining us on
the Meyer Hotline eight six six eight three, eight forty eight,
forty three, or via text at Sports Radio twenty one thousand.

(01:13):
You know how we always complain that managers get too
caught up in analytics. You know how we talk about
pulling players too early, substituting things in a game that
don't make a whole lot of sense, at least to
us at the time. And that's not always fair. But
I do think it's very interesting that Dave Roberts is

(01:36):
considered one of the best managers in baseball, one of
the best. Okay, when you accomplish what he's accomplished, winning championships,
I guess it would be roster turnover to a certain extent.
All right, He's got great players. We know that. I
mean even my wife. I was watching the game last night.

(01:58):
My wife's like and the Dodgers, they've got so many
good players. Even she recognizes it. She recognizes it. We
I'll notice it, right because she's not knee deep into baseball,
but she's looking at man, they've got Mookie Betts, They've
got Freddy Freeman. And I said, yeah, and Will Smith's
one of the best catchers in all of baseball, I said.

(02:18):
Taoscar Hernandez is a guy that I really liked and
I wanted Tommy Edmund Not that he's one of the
best players in baseball, but he is a very good
postseason performer and a very steady guy. Max Munsey steady guy,
you know, not saying he's the best of his position,
just saying he's a very steady player. You can win

(02:40):
with players like that. How's that? Okay? Remember they had
Cody Bellinger gone, they had Gavin Lux gone, and Clayton
Kershaw is not on their playoff roster. All right? Last
night they'd beat Milwaukee five to one. Munsey, by the way,
had a home run. That's his thirteenth career postseason homer.

(03:00):
Do you know who owns the playoff record for the
Los Angeles Dodgers for postseason home runs? Do you have
any idea? I mean, that's that's a pretty would you
say it's a pretty rich tradition, Trent would? Yeah? Okay,
So who do you think owns? So they've had some
great players, right, Who's who owns the most home runs

(03:21):
in Dodgers playoff history? I have no idea, Chef, Who
is it? Is it? Max Monsey? Now it is? Wow? Yeah?
Who's that incredible? To me when I read that. When
I saw that, I went, what, Max Munsey, are you
kidding me? A guy who was waived by the Oakland

(03:43):
A's you know, how in the world does that happen?
And yet he goes to Los Angeles and he becomes
a star. He's he's one, He's gone to All Star Games,
all this stuff, right, they've got rings. It's crazy, but
it's true. Corey Seger, I think is number two. Okay, Okay,

(04:04):
I was going to guess Key k Hernandez, that's a
good one. He's got ten. So it's Muncy Seeger, Justin Turner,
Duke Snyder. Duke Snyder has eleven, all right, So Hernandez
could Steve Garvey, who probably should be in the Hall
of Fame. That guy's playoff numbers are are stupid. He's

(04:29):
a three forty six lifetime playoff hitter, Steve Garvey, the
former Spartan absurd. It is three forty six and on top,
excuse me, on top of that ten home runs. That's
just with the Dodgers. By the way, because he played
for the Podres and in nineteen eighty four was the

(04:50):
primary reason that the Padres got to the World Series
and upset the Cups. But I digress. The Dodgers are
are a pretty rich history, and they've had some outstanding,
you know, outstanding players. We know that Yoshii Yamamoto last

(05:13):
night threw a complete game at the Brewers. The last
time he played against the Brewers, he lasted two thirds
of an inning. They beat him all over the yard
in an eight one route. That was during the regular season.
A regular season. I might add that the Brewers won
all six meetings with the Dodgers. LA wins Game one
and then last night wins Game two, five to one.

(05:37):
Yamamoto throws the complete game. He threw one hundred and
eleven pitches. Not a lot of stressful innings, unheard of today.
But the first pitch, Trent went over the wall. Jack
Centurio went over the wall on the first pitch of
the game to get things going there, Yeah, talk about

(05:59):
getting your hope up and then yeah, ANSI climactic for
the Brewers. Meanwhile, Milwaukee collects just two hits after that.
Yamamoto one hundred and eleven pitches in nine innings. I'm sorry,
could not help but think back and go hmm. I

(06:23):
wanted one more inning out of Tererek's schooble. This is
where my mind goes, It's probably wrong. No, how can
it not? How can it not? After what we just wanted.
I wanted one more inning against Seattle out of Terrek's
schooble one he had thrown ninety nine pitches. You remember,
of course you do. Could he have gotten through another

(06:46):
inning on twelve pitches? And I'm just using Yamamoto as
the bar there? Could he have? Remember I've said this before.
This is a manager in aj Hinch, who has confidently
told us I'm the guy who left Edwin Jackson in
for one hundred and forty nine pitches in a no

(07:09):
hit bid in twenty ten. Why does it take us
to go flipping back into the record books to figure
out the last time a guy could go a little
bit deeper than maybe the manager thinks he could. And
before we say, well that manager said he emptied his tank.

(07:31):
We've heard that before. Why is it the player said
I felt good? Then? Which is it you felt good
or you emptied the tank? Which one? All I know
is that there are probably two pitchers on the entire
Tigers staff who you truly trust in their respective situations.

(07:54):
Trek Skouble as a starter, will vest in the ninth inning.
Those are the two guys you feel really good about
in between, you know, the seventh, the eighth extras. It's
a juggling match. I feel pretty good with Kyle Finnegan.

(08:14):
I guess it would be three. Correct me if I'm
wrong there. Maybe you feel good with Jack Flaherty on
the start. I don't. Maybe you feel really good with
Casey Mice. He deserves more than me, saying only Tarrek
Scoubel as a starter. Yeah, I'd put him there before
Jack Flaherty. Oh for sure. We're ranking. Yeah, I'm not

(08:35):
ranking guys here. What we're asking is who do you
feel totally comfortable when Trek Scoobl's out there? And if
I'm going to use his postgame words, I felt good
and he sowed ninety nine pitches and my team is
up by a run, and it'd said he it's the
last game of the season. If we don't win the game,

(09:00):
I want to stay with the guy who feels good
and is it ninety nine pitches? That's what I want
And we didn't get it. And I can't help but
think back and go why not? Why can Yoshi Yamamoto
go longer in a game than Terrek Schooble. Riddle me

(09:23):
that it's frustrating, it's really frustrating.
