Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's the one good thing about a bye week for
somebody like you that really works on a games game
basis in the industry is that you're looking at You're
looking at a pretty much slate in the Big Ten
as well, including a massive game over there in Eugene.
What you know that seemingly everybody's game they're paying the
closest attention to here. But there's a couple other ones
that I think my eyeball is going to be on,

(00:21):
and that includes in southern California.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I think, yeah, Penn State versus USC, and the data
is out there. Only one Big Ten team has won
this year when traveling two or more time zones, and
that was Indiana winning at UCLA in the Rose Bowl.
Every other team, I believe it's seven or eight have
lost when they make these double time zone trips. Now,
Penn State they flew out from Harrisburg because they couldn't

(00:46):
even fly the plane out of State College because the
size of the plane needed the fuel that's needed to
make that trip. That's five and a half hours to
get to that game. So they had they left Thursday,
and you know, you just don't see that in the
Big Ten. But we're seeing a lot of these teams
have to adjust their travel and how they get ready
for these games. You know, when Nebraska played USC in

(01:07):
two thousand and seven, they were right number one in
the country and Pete Carroll was the coach. They actually
flew into Omaha on Thursday and they stayed down at
the Regency Maryot I remember, and they actually held a
practice on Friday at Westside High School just to kind of,
you know, shake off the jet lag and get used
to the time difference. Then they drove out to Memorial

(01:27):
Stadium on Friday and held another walk through. So you know,
everybody does it differently, and for a lot of these
Big Ten teams, you know, these trips are an adjustment.
For Nebraska, you know, this is actually an advantage because
for them, they can get anywhere in the Big Ten
and two to three hours tops. I mean, you look
at the flights to get to these places. They can
get to most of them in under three hours with

(01:48):
the location. So it's the one advantage right now. You
look at the conference for Nebraska, They're never gonna have
to really deal with this. We've played games at Oregon
and UCLA and USC already in Washington it's a and
a road trip for Nebraska. It's not as big of
a deal as maybe what Penn State's having to go
through to play this game on Saturday, no.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Doubt, No doubt. Sean Callahan joining us just before I
let you go. Sean, I know you're going to talk
a lot of Nebraska and a lot of college football
in the Husk Gar online show coming up at the
top of the six o'clock hour. But I saw the
head football coach for Indiana say next week's game against
the Huskers a sellout. Indiana hasn't suffered a loss yet,
Nebraska just one loss. I don't know how many people

(02:26):
thought this was going to be a premieer game mid
season in the Big Ten, but it's got all the
makings of it right now, right yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
You looked at I mean, here's the data though, of
the twelve games that Indiana Nebraska played this year, Nebraska
and Indiana have actually been favored in all twelve of
them in terms of vegas points spreads. Nebraska did lose,
as we know, the Illinois game, so these teams have
won the games for the most part they're supposed to win.
Indiana has been gifted an unbelievable non conference schedule to
build the momentum up, and then they were really given

(02:56):
a really good conference schedule to start things out. A
struggling first year head coach UCLA team Maryland who lost
a lot of good players from their team a year ago,
including Tongue of Bilo at quarterback, and then they'll win
last week. It's Northwestern who seems to really be transitioning
now in year two with David Brown. So it's been
a great schedule for Kurtzinega Signetti and getting that team,

(03:17):
you know, to this point and game is sold out.
It's going to be maybe the biggest home game we've
seen in years. Of a lot of speculation in the circles.
I talked to that that will be another big Newton
kickoff game, meaning at an eleven am kickoff, which I'm
all four on the road. I think those are for
a road team starting at eleven, the crowds is not
going to be near as jazzed up as you would

(03:38):
play in the night game or a later game of
the day. So hopefully that's the case for Indiana and
in Ohio state for Nebraska traveling on the road to
play at.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Eleven o'clock definitely something to keep an eye on. Plenty
more coming for you from Sean Callahan and the guys,
with the Husker Online Show coming up at six o'clock tonight.
Sean is always it's great. Enjoy your day off as
far as Husker coverage tomorrow and we'll chat Indiana throughout
next week and can't wait to do so.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Hey, thanks every We have a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah, you as well.
