Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Democrats waive the white flag of surrender. After a
forty day government shut down, the longest shutdown in American history,
Chuck Schumer lost, Donald Trump won. The news broke yesterday
late evening early morning that eight Democrats, to be specific,

(00:25):
seven Democrats independent Senator Angus King Fromaine who caucuses with
the Democrats, so all eight of them bolted from the
Democratic Party, joined the Republicans and voted to end the
filibuster and reopened the government. And the reason was simple.
They realized that the public was turning on the Democrats

(00:49):
who voted fourteen consecutive times to keep the government shut down.
And by the end of forty days, air traffic controllers
were not showing up to work because they weren't being paid,
which led to thousands and thousands of flights being canceled,
people unable to travel. Air travel was essentially paralyzed. On

(01:14):
top of now people losing or about to lose food
stamps and snap benefits. Americans are on the verge forty
two million of going hungry, and so with Donald Trump
not giving an inch, the Democrats had no choice but
to capitulate, and Schumer now is getting tremendous blame from

(01:38):
Democrats and from his entire liberal base. He's the one
who vowed that he would win the shutdown battle, that Trump,
like the Republicans in the past, would eventually cave, But
this time they didn't. They held the line for forty days,
even though they imposed tremendous misery and suffering on the

(02:01):
American people and on the country. They got nothing. No
extensions to the Obamacare subsidies as they demanded. They didn't
even get a year extension. No free healthcare for illegals,
no circumcisions in Zambia, no taxpayer funded transgender surgeries in Serbia.

(02:23):
Everything that they demanded they got zilch, nada, nothing. The
Democrats lost this shutdown, and now this stain on them
is going to cripple and damage the party going into
next year's midterm elections. And let me tell you ultimately,
who the biggest loser is, Chuck U. Schumer. He waged

(02:48):
the shutdown to appease the radical left wing of his party,
to show that he was fighting Trump, standing up to Trump,
blocking Trump in order to prevent a primary challenge from
AOC Alexandria Okazio Cortes. Now, after this surrender, it all

(03:12):
but guarantees an AOC primary challenge, and you can hold
me to this. AOC is going to do to Schumer
what Mamdani did to Andrew Cuomo in New York City.
She is going to destroy him because Schumer allowed the
socialists and the radical leftists into his party, and like

(03:34):
Frankenstein's monster, they are now turning on the old guard
and on the establishment. Chuck Schumer, in his speech yesterday, ranting, raving,
attacking Trump, was signing and stating his own political obituary.

(03:56):
The shutdown is not just a big loss for Schumer.
It is a massive loss for the Democrats and a
massive loss to the democratic establishment. Trump took Schumer and
broke his back. The art of the deal and how
did Trump do it. He leveraged the fact that the

(04:19):
airlines were now canceling flights. He leveraged the snap benefits.
He leveraged the fact that he was threatening to end
the filibuster. He used maximum pressure, maximum leverage, and he
told the Republicans hold the line. Trump now has broken

(04:40):
the Democrats, and now the only thing left to do
is for the Republicans in the Senate to break and
end the filibuster. Invoke the so called nuclear option, and
then pass the entire MAGA agenda on a fifty plus
one vote. And that includes voter ID laws, that includes

(05:04):
ending mail in balloting, that includes restoring a one day
to vote national election day. In other words, to end
the massive voter fraud and electoral corruption that Democrats have
used to steal election after election after election. If the
Republicans do this, the Democrats' defeat will be complete. Schumer

(05:32):
took on Trump and they played a game of chicken,
and Schumer blinked

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
