This is coming to us. Goodmorning, dear Boston. I'm John Boudris,
as you might know, and welcometo a ad lib version of Safe
Money Strategies this morning. As weare here this morning to continue a tradition

(00:37):
that Bill and Kelly started many yearsago, and we are going to continue
it today. And in special recognitionof being in business for twenty years,
two decades, that deserves a hand. Bill had many many attributes, but

(00:58):
one of them was that he understoodhow this life is fleeting, temporary and
very precious and that we should celebrateevery single day. And so today is
a celebration. There's not going tobe a lot of financial drilling down.
Today is to celebrate you and tothank you for being with us for so

(01:22):
long, and in particular today forbringing the toys that you did for toys
for thoughts. And I was outunder the tree looking and I saw the
same kinds of things that I gotwhen I was a kid. There's this
funky little chemistry set that we'd lookat the directions and everything that they said
don't do, we would do.Is that there's Barbie dolls. I didn't

(01:46):
have any of those, but notthat there would be anything wrong with that
if I did. Who brought thatcrystal set making the little crystal raise your
hand? I had one of thethose are great. So Santa's going to
need more reindeer because there's so much, and thank you for that. We

(02:07):
have a lot on tap today theTufts University Beelzebubs carly Teft and before we
start, this young man over here. The first time I heard his voice
was probably about I don't know, fifteen years ago, and I was sitting
in my driveway listening to Bill onthis show. In this little teeny teeny

(02:29):
little voice came on and started tono offense mumble the Pledge of Allegiance.
And I know he's improved his publicspeaking skills. And let me introduce to
you William Kelly Junior to lead usin the Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you,
John, Please stand for the Pledgeof Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to

(02:54):
the flag of the United States ofAmerica and to the Republic for which it
stands, one nation under God,indivisible with liberty and justice. For aw

fall of nineteen seventy, Long timeago was fifty three years ago. I
was a freshman at Tuffs University andI was living in a little bunker dorm
room in the basement of Hill Hall. And what I loved doing was taking

(04:56):
my guitar out into the hallway andsing it because I had great acoustics.
And so one day I was outthere and a young lady who lived in
the dorm came and sat down andlistened to me. Next thing I knew,
there was two, and there werethree, and then four, and
there were like five, you know, college girls sitting around listening to me

(05:17):
sing. You know, I camefrom a Catholic all boys' school, and
I thought, man, this isgreat. Is this what college is all
about? And one of them saidto me, there is this singing group
here at Tufts University called the Beelzebubs, and you might be interested in auditioning
for them. And I thought Iwould have jumped off the administration building had

(05:41):
she asked me to do it.So I did, and I auditioned,
and I didn't think much of it. I was a very poor site reader.
I couldn't read notes well. Buta couple weeks later after maybe I
was about a week later after theaudition, there's a knock on my dorm
room one night, and I wasasleep, and twelve men came and serenaded

(06:04):
me, saying I was in thatgroup. They were welcoming me into this
fraternity of singers, the Tufts Universitybls bubbs. So let's bring them on.
Four two three four No, No, I'm gonna, I'm gonna.

a future in your hands, babe, and I'm yours. I'm gonna be

It is lovely to be on theEast Coast. However, it is
a little cold and it was toughnot being home. Thanksgiving is usually a

(08:15):
nice, warm day, you know, go for a run, play some
golf. Maybe that was not iton the East Coast in Boston, but
that's okay. I love it here. It's fantastic. I'm very grateful to
be here, and we're very gratefulto be here. So thank you so
much. We got a couple morefor you to get your hartbra, muskets,

(10:13):
I am the president of the group. Thanks so much again to John for
having us this morning. It's beensuch a lovely time performing for you all.
That last song was Teenage Dream byKatie Perry. I hope you all
enjoyed it. I wanted to tellyou a little bit about the history of
that song, So if you tuneinto the radio show that we did a
few days ago, you would haveheard a little bit about the history of

(10:35):
the group. But basically, inthe twenty tens, the Bubbs did a
lot of the music for Glee, which is a popular TV show that featured
a lot of acapella performing. Sothat last song was from the TV show
Glee and it's the same arrangement we'vebeen doing for ten years. So that
is a little bit special that wecan do things like that, and it's
really awesome to have such a tightalumni connection to the previous groups in the

(10:58):
past. So here's thank you Otwo three four. See you're breaking tor't
just shaking too, cop, Nostay to me. Oh, I'm down

introduce to you the Kelly Financial Advisorsand they would present two US pertinent information
about things going on in markets andall kinds of things related to your retirement
planning. But today we're going todivert a little bit from that, and

(14:45):
I'm going to have Mike Doucet comeon up here and introduce the Kelly Financial
team. Mike, as you know, is Kelly Financial's c Ooh, that's
Chief Operational Officer, Chief operating Officer. I like to think of him as
the General George Patton of the office, and so we're gonna turn everything over

(15:07):
to him right now. Thank you, John, welcome, it's great to
see everybody and his John promise,we're not going to get into any heavy
financial topic today. Although the stockmarket has been on a nice run,
so now could be the appropriate time, but we're gonna hold off on that.
I have two promises for you. That's number one, We're not gonna
get deep into any financial topic, and I promise We're not gonna sing either.

(15:28):
It's gonna be tough to follow upthat act. But I'm gonna ask
the advisory team to join me onstage for a little Q and A session.
I want you guys to like dancelike the Bubbs work. Come on,
let's go, so joining me onstage. Hopefully these faces look familiar.
At Kelly Financial, we work asa team. It really is a

(15:48):
collaborative effort. But every client hasan assigned advisor, so a primary advisor.
But when that advisor is tied upin something or maybe on vacation,
you know, we fill in.So we do work as a team.
I'm going to just go from leftto right. I've asked the gentleman just
to give some thought to Kelly Financial, their experience at the firm, and
how it's different than maybe some otherfirms that they've worked at. Starting with

(16:12):
Greg Murray. Actually everyone on stagehas over ten years of industry experience,
including myself, so it's a pleasureto come to work with these gentlemen.
They really make my job easy.I'm going to start with Greg, who's
been here for over thirteen years.Greg, you've kind of seen it all.
Bill was your mentor you work veryclosely with Bill Kelly. You've seen
the firm grow over the last thirteenyears. You kind of know the direction

(16:33):
that we're going. What jumps outat you? I mean, what would
you highlight from those thirteen years workingat Kelly Financial. We've seen a lot
of changes in the past thirteen years. If this year's our twentieth anniversary,
which to me is amazing. I'veseen a lot of faces here that I've
been seeing for a decade or more. I mean, to me, that's
awesome. When I first started,Actually I go backtrack a little bit more.

(16:53):
I mean, Missus Kelly's over there, and I remember one of her
favorite stories of telling me is whenI first got hired. I started in
twenty ten, And what she likesto say is I showed up two hours
early for my interview, and thenMissus Kelly and I ended up talking for
about three to four hours. Likeevery time that I would stand up to
kind of leave, we'd start talkingabout another topic. And that's kind of

(17:17):
what's carried on for the last decade. I mean, it feels like I'm
home. It feels like family. So that's one of the things that I
really like about Kelly Financial and lookingat in a business perspective. When I
first started, we had twenty fivemillion dollars under management. We are relatively
a small financial services firm, andthen over that time, I mean I

(17:37):
don't look at it on a dailybasis, but what are we up to
as of like Friday, as ofyesterday, we currently actively manage four hundred
and ten million, So pretty goodjump from the twenty five. Thank you.
As many of you probably know,we haven't really focused in two areas.
Wealth management would be the number thatGreg's your shit with the room.
We also have a book of insurancebusiness that is a couple hundred million as

(17:59):
well. The growth that we've seenfrom twenty five to four hundred and ten
over a decade is pretty substantial, going from a small registered investment advisory firm
to now considered a medium size andI know we're poison positioned well to continue
with that growth. Thank you,Greg. I'm not saying it's all because
of me, but it isn't allbecause of you, but you certainly are
a key player and we appreciate youevery day. Thank you. Next on

(18:22):
the podium here is Greg Workman.I've worked with Greg for maybe seven years
now. Greg's background is unique. He actually kind of like what you see
in movies, the stockbrokers, right, So he worked for a big wirehouse
in downtown Boston. That's how hestarted in the industry, and he's now
transitioned over the last five or sixyears into more holistic planning. That's what
we do here at Kelly Financial. So Greg, I would just kind of

(18:45):
ask you, what have you seenin the industry and your time at Kelly
Financial. That's unique. So Ithink a word or a phrase that's thrown
around a lot in the industry isfiduciary, and that simply means acting in
your client's best interest. So Ithink a lot of firms large and small,
use that in their marketing, usethat in their face to face communications

(19:06):
with clients and prospective clients. Ithink it's refreshing to be at a firm
like Kelly Financial where I think wecan walk the talk and missus Kelly has
taken that to the next level andthe nature in which we're compensated. So
what I'm recommending from across the tableisn't linked to my compensation, It isn't
linked directly to any kind of proprietaryrelationship, and I think that's what our

(19:30):
clients love about working with us.I think it's an honest relationship, one
that's built on integrity and trust andmakes me feel good. Out of all
the places I've worked, I feelthe best when I look in someone's eye
and say, you know, thisis the best thing to do, because
it truly is excellent. Thank you, Greg. Next on the podium is
Tom Schleeger. Tom is somewhat ofa unique role here. He only focuses

(19:53):
on insurance strategies and that's his background. Tom and I started working together thirteen
years ago. Little odd that heenjoys insurance that much, but he does,
and it's to our benefit. Sohe's seen a lot in the industry.
As with any industry, it changesover a decade. Tom, anything
jump out to you that's unique aboutKelly Financial and how we implement insurance strategies.

(20:15):
Well, certainly the most unique partof Kelly Financial is just how it's
so family oriented and they treat everyoneas their own as their family. One
of the biggest changes over the lastthirteen years, certainly in the insurance industry,
is it's always been a very transactionalwith a lot of advisors where they

(20:36):
sell the insurance and then you neversee that advisor again. Well, here
at Kelly Financial, we don't takethat approach. We want to be invested
with you. We want to makesure that you can always contact us and
have that connection with us, andthat family vibe and connection that Kelly has
really enhances that. Yeah, thelast thing we want is and we've all

(20:57):
experienced it. You've callin AI numberand you're on hold for a half hour
and you bumped around, transferred acouple of times. It's unique at Kelly
Financial and it took me a littlegetting used to. We don't have direct
extensions, and I know that canbe somewhat frustrating occasionally if you want to
just get a hold of Greg Marieor Tom Schleger, but that's intentional.
We want you to speak to somebody. That's why Carter and Michelle and Kayla

(21:21):
do such a great job. Occasionallythey're tied up, they may be on
another call and you do get bouncedto our phone service, but that phone
provider then sends us a text message. I get them all the time.
The gentleman on the podium get thosetext messages as well, and that's our
commitment to service. So that's Tom'ssole role at Kelly Financial is to make
sure we don't have an insurance strategythat was implemented years ago and we're not

(21:41):
doing those annual reviews. So gladto have him as part of the team.
And then, last, but notleast, is Charles Gable. Charlie's
the newest member of our team. He's been with Kelly Financial. He's approaching
his one year anniversary. Charlie graduatedfrom Babson. All of the gentlemen have
an investment background, but Charlie reallyis a big part of our investment can
So I just want to ask Charlie, from his experience in the industry in

(22:03):
building portfolios for clients at other firms, is there anything that jumps out of
you that makes Kelly a little bitdifferent. Yeah. I think from what
I've noticed over the last year, what's really refreshing is the independence and we're
truly an independent firm and able togo out there kind of along the fiduciary
mindset as well. We're always educatingourselves to make sure we're on top of

(22:25):
what's the best product or the bestinvestment strategy and We're not tied to anyone
proprietary product or solution. We getthe question often, you know, how
are we making investment decisions? Soit's a combination of many things. But
the size of the firm, asI said a minute ago, we're considered
a medium sized registered investment advisor. And what that provides us with is access

(22:47):
to investment firms that have large deathsof certified financial analysts and certified financial planners.
Every name that you know on WallStreet, whether it's Vanguard or Fidelity,
you name them, JP Morgan,we have access to them. So
I know Charlie and the rest ofthe team on a weekly basis is speaking
with those firms, and then weget together on a weekly basis to ultimately

(23:07):
make the moves in our client's portfolio. Solot goes into that and Charlie has
been a big piece to that investmentcommittee meeting. We're really happy that he
joined the firm last year. Sothat's all we had. I promise we
would keep it short. How abouta round of applause for the advisory team
invested Greetings from all of us atKelly Financial Services. Call the team on

going to give a toast, andthat would be the CEO in partner of
Kelly Financial, missus, Kelly Kelly. Today marks the fulfillment of a promise
that my husband, the late BillKelly, and I made more than twenty

(24:42):
years ago when we started what wouldbecome Kelly Financial Services. We envisioned a
financial services company built upon and dedicatedto a single but powerful concept, family
values combined with financial knowledge. Weset out to serve the people of Greater

(25:04):
Boston, whom we felt were underservedin the marketplace. Strangely, the idea
is so simple that it seems almostradical today. But here we are twenty
years later, and it is ablessing that we are here this morning.
Our mission does not stop. Wecontinue to strive to serve people to the

(25:26):
best of our ability, and wefeel very strongly that our role is not
only to help each and every oneof you to be better off, but
to be better Today is a celebrationof each and every one of you,
our cherished clients, for you havehelped us achieve the kind of company we

(25:49):
literally dreamed of more than two decadesago. We are grateful, and on
the occasion of this Bill Kelly's annualChristmas Brunch, I am reminded of a
quote by Apple computer founder Steve Jobs. Your work is going to fill a
large part of your life, andthe only way to be truly satisfied is

(26:11):
to do what you believe is greatwork. And the only way to do
great work is to love what youdo. If you haven't found it yet,
keep looking, don't settle. Aswith all matters of the heart,
you'll know it when you find it. Bill and I found that work,

(26:32):
when we found you are clients, and when you found others, your friends
and family to share in that work. We think that captures the spirit of
Kelly Financial Services in twenty twenty three. As we celebrate you, our clients,
and celebrate this milestone together, youare not numbers to us, but

(26:53):
people, friends, family. Infact, we think you're like us,
a mind and caring group who growas individuals for ourselves, our families,
our communities in our country. Soraise your glass on behalf of the entire

That's my term. The Boston Globecalled her redheaded Moxie. Now I wish

(29:11):
I had written that line. Everyonce in a while a writer will see
a line and you think to yourself, well, I wish I wrote that.
And everyone who grew up in NewEngland knows what moxie means. Of

my favorite songs from the Nine.Hope y'all will enjoy. How many is

We would get in. So Iwas chatting with Kelly and Mary and William

(33:21):
Junior and unfortunately we have a lotin common losing a parent. I lost
my mom two years ago to breastcancer and it was the most challenging experience
of my life. About a monthafter she passed away, I went to
a beach on Cape Cod that I'venever been to before. I've never been
since. I walked down there andthere was a woman who was definitely an

(33:45):
angel, and she saw me cryingas I was watching the sunset, and
she said, are you okay? And I said, no, I just
lost my mom. She looked atme and she said, she hasn't left
you. She's just ahead of you. I've never heard anyone put it that

(34:10):
way. I've never heard anyone explainit in that way since. And I
think that's just the most beautiful thingwe can all come back to, is
that our loved ones are just aheadof us. So I hope you'll enjoy
the song called ahead of me.Never thought to see the day the day

(34:37):
you went away, even though weare all doing this life supermo kind of
style. Thoughts you'd stay here fora whole, But there's bigger planes for
you in the sky. Hate toask one, no answers good enough?

(35:05):

one or go to Kelly Financial dotorg. I got into a little bit
of a what did my grandfathers saybucks this year? That was the specific
word he used. Did not intendto. The short story is I was

(37:07):
invited by former President Donald Trump tosing the national anthem and thank you and
for me, I mean, theonly greater honor of singing for a former
president is to be singing for acurrent president. So I automatically said yes,
just went up there very much liketoday, went up did my thing

(37:30):
saying it, and unfortunately a venueon Cape Cod that I've performed at for
about six years, they called me, and it was the strangest phone called
my life. They basically said, you know, are you a Trump supporter?
We just have to know. AndI just said, look, first
and foremost, the only person Iwill hardly support is my Lord and Savior

(37:52):
of God Jesus, So I thankyou. Every politician is divisive, every
politician is going to let you down. We're human, right, But like
I said, singing the national anthemis for everyone in this country and it's
very positive and that's how I viewit. And he apparently liked my answer,
but he still said, you know, we're just gonna go ahead and

(38:13):
cancel your performances for the remainder ofthe year. Isn't that crazy? I
still can't believe it. Every timeI tell the story, it's wild.
And I almost decided not to speakabout this, But then I realized,
you know, if I don't speakabout this, what happens If this happens
to my future children one day? What happens if this happens to a friend

(38:34):
of mine, a family member.I would want to be there for them
and speak up for them, becauseto me, the national anthem is not
political, it's for all of us. It's very positive. So I'm very
grateful to have had so much supportthroughout this crazy few months, and throughout
this journey. I decided to writea song about my experience, and it's
called Freedom in This Country Carly's version. It's the latest single available everywhere,

(39:00):
and I hope you'll enjoy the song. How did I Vent up this way?
Cheven troop just gets you shame? But I am scared to walk by
faith ort to sing for the wormof the break. When alas and hate

(39:22):

When Jim asked me to introduce KellyKelly, I thought that's going to be
easy. I mean, I've knownher a long time. I've seen her

(45:08):
struggle through some of the most difficultlosses a person can experience in their life,
loss of parent, loss of aspouse. So I thought, oh,
it's going to be a snap.That's not because I don't have enough
time. But I will tell youone thing. We've nicknamed her grizz after

(45:29):
a grizzly bear, and how amama grizzly bear protects her young. And
if you've seen the way she's rearedWilliam and Mary Madline, you know that
she has sharp claws. She writestight herd on them. She is tenacious,
and she's tenacious in every way.And for many of you here,

(45:49):
I would say for most of youhere, she takes care of your money
tenaciously. I hear Abraham Lincoln screamingwhen she's pinching pennies here. And she
loves you all. She truly does. When you toasted her this morning raising
those five hundred glasses, do youknow who washed each and every one of

(46:10):
them by hand and dried them, not me, not William, not Mary
Madline, but Kelly did it allherself. So thank you for that.
Kelly. And the mud pies thatshe sends out it festive times. She
doesn't buy them and pretends that shemakes them. She makes them from scratch.

(46:34):
In her basement, piled Florida ceilingare crates of chocolate and all of
the other secret ingredients that I don'teven know the recipe of. It's only
Mary Madline knows, and she Ibelieve she makes every one of those for
you. She wraps them, shedoes everything, and she thinks about you
all the time. It's my honorto welcome her. Kelly, when to

(47:04):
walk. One morning, I wokeup and I knew that you were gone,
a new day, a new way. I knew I should see it
along and carry on. Those arethe opening words to Crosby, Stills and
Nashes carry On. Many of yourecognize the song as it is fittingly the

(47:30):
theme song to our Safe Money Strategiesradio show, We Indeed carry On On
Sunday, October fifteenth, twenty seventeen. I became a single mother, a
client, a CEO. Life canand does change unexpectedly, and as sad

(47:52):
and tragic and chaotic as those firstminutes, days, weeks, months were,
I realize something really special in thewake of it all, that I
get to carry on. We getto carry on, and that is a

(48:12):
blessing. Bill's passing was tough onall of us, including you, our
clients, but we endured, wepersevered, we carried on, and it
is you, our clients, whomwe celebrate today. Whether you've been with
us twenty years or just two weeks, or maybe you're contemplating working with us.

(48:34):
The twenty twenty three Bill Kelly's annualChristmas Brunch is all about you,
So give yourselves a round of applause. From the bottom of my heart,
I want to thank each and everyone of you. You're not like family
to me, you are family tome. You have made us a part

(48:58):
of your lives, a part ofyour families. You've turned to us in
good times and in bad times. You've allowed us to grow as people,
as a community, and become agreat success in our community. Without your
loyalty and faith, it would havebeen impossible to conceive Kelly Financial as an

(49:19):
intergenerational service that it has become. And without a doubt, we are better
because of you. The company thatBill and I built is in many ways
the same company it was twenty yearsago. Technology may have changed the way
we work, but that's a tinypart of the story. Our vision has

(49:40):
always been centered around people. Wethink that three principal qualities bind us together.
The first is of values. Wethink that success of any long term
relationship is rooted in a common setof values. Kelly Financial has proudly worn

(50:00):
values on its sleeve since Bill andI started the company. It's more than
portfolios and pensions. We believe thata fulfilling retirement is also about growth in
faith and family and friends. Thesecond value is trust. One of our
core principles is to earn and keepyour trust, and that starts with me.

(50:22):
The financial advisors that you work withmanage my money too. I trust
them with my own retirement plans.I am a client just as much as
I run the company. The thirdvalue is knowledge and capabilities. Is important
to us that you are achieving yourgoals and living a desired lifestyle. I

(50:45):
strive to have a team that isknowledgeable, capable, compassionate, and kind,
and I believe I've achieved that. These are the people who have helped
us achieve this milestone of serving youfor twenty years, and they are all
here today. So please give myteam, the people you speak with,

(51:07):
the people you work with, andthe people you see every day a round
of applause to So what can Isay about Mary Magdaline and William Junior.
They have literally grown up with ourcompany, and the company has grown up
with them. They've sacrificed a lot, and I know Bill is looking down

(51:30):
from heaven, pleased and proud thatthey are a part of Kelly Financial,
a part of the mission, apart of the future. I'll lead the
applause for this round. They arethe next gin. They are the future
of the company. They are thecontinuation of the legacy begun by their father

(51:54):
and shepherded by me. They inturn, will also carry on one important
lesson that I've learned since I becameCEO on that fateful day. Retirement planning
and wealth management is not about thepast. It's about your future. It's
about your family's future, your grandkid'sfuture. At Kelly Financial, we are

(52:16):
here to serve the greatest generation andthe next generation too. I'm confident that
together we will see a bright futurethis year and in the next twenty years,
not because we got to carry on, but because we get to carry
on. Thank you so very much, God, bless and merry Christmas.

(52:46):
I think we have Oh wait asecond, what's coming to do? We
look at this? What is it'sall about? How did I not know
about this? We fooled you? That's why you don't No, I cannot
keep a secret, but you dothis, yeah, for the first time.
So today we just wanted to thanksomeone really special here, our amazing
