Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's not about people, it's about the actual chocolate.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Y're old.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
So if you haven't had any chocolate today, today might.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Be a good day.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Maybe maybe you won't dark chocolate. I don't know, but
today is National Chocolate Day. Hey, hey, hey, everybody, come
on in, Come on in.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
How y'all doing yellow right? Happy Tuesday again?

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Nine o one five three five, nine three four two
eight hundred five zero three nine three four two eight
three three five three five nine three four to two.
Those are the numbers to get at me, all right?
Did you see her? I think her name is Alici
uh White. Bless her heart. She's the Memphis woman who

(00:44):
is in Jamaica and so about four hours ago, our
news partner Fox thirteen shared a clip where she posted
on social media, what's happening over there and bless a heart.
I can't imagine being stuck.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
I was.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
In California and we got a tornado warning. First off,
I'm like, did the tornadoes follow me to California? But
there was a tornado warning. Happened in the middle of
the night. I was yeah, I was ready to get
into tub, you know, because they said take cover. Nothing happened, nothing,

(01:28):
Thank goodness. And I cannot imagine going on a trip
to Jamaica thinking everything is gonna be fine and then
you find out it's not.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
I'm so tired, I'm sleep I have not been able
to sleep because my anxiety. Through the roof, I can
lay down, but I'm chi cheatery canse sleep. It's finally
raining here Montico Bay. It's finally raining, and the lights
were already flickering.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
And you know, I saw a video where there's a
content creator who is in Jamaica. His name is Flass,
and so he's documenting the hurricane over there, Hurricane Melissa,
and the stuff that he's showing it doesn't look good.
So I'm really hoping in praying that Alicia is okay.

(02:14):
And if you know somebody over there, you got some
family members over because there are people that are stranded
over there. So yeah, hopefully and prayer for everybody is okay.
I did see where there, uh there are people that
have lost their lives. I think they said a total
of seven lives have been lost throughout the Caribbean due
to the storm Caribbean islands. Uh So, at any rate,

(02:38):
Jamaica not so good right now. Hurricane Melissa and Melissa
is a nice name. I wonder why they named it Melissa.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Hmm.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
And when they get to the Stormers, they're going the
s is rather well they name it storm here.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
We don't know, We don't.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Know, but I do know they have a list of
the names already picked out. When they get ready to
name these storms, they already picked out.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
They got them already picked out.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
So hopefully and prayer for if you've got relatives over there,
everybody's gonna be everybody's gonna be okay. So Wanda Halbard
I just saw where you know her her case is,
she's likely seeking an appeal. She's probably gonna go it's
probably gonna go to the Tennessee Supreme Court over that ouster.

(03:28):
That's man. I know Wonda doesn't like that. She she
she had press comforts, I believe today. And yeah, and
here's the interesting thing. How long does she have to
be in that role?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
In her term? Almost up? So make it makes sense?
I mean, you know what I'm saying, terms almost up?
Is it just me.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Because by the time they make a decision, we won't
even be in the office. Probably, I mean, I don't know,
because next year are we voting next year.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I mean, I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I know what some people don't want us to be
voting on, and that is Memphis.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Shelby County school Board.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Stan talked about it a little bit this morning, and
I talked about it in the news. But the Shelby
County Commission voted to override Mayor Harris's veto cutting short
MSCs board terms.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
And I know last night there was there was some
rumbling and I think this woman is.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Fox thirteen talked to Sarah Carpenter and she had a
few things to say about, you know, now having those
Memphis Shelby County School Board members on the ballot as
the same time as other elected officials. They'll all be
on the ballot at one time, so they're kind of
just lining them up. What do y'all think about it?

(04:56):
What do y'all think? This is what happened last night
outside of the meeting.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
At the meeting, relief because we've been coming down here
too damn long about the same thing.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
It's copping old school board.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Members after run again. And if they they it's meant
for them to be there, they'll be there. And guess what,
I go sit in my rock and chair. Mm hm,
let them have This.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Is nothing personal. This is a take back of the
power for the people. Give them the opportunity to vote.
If they're supposed to be there, this second opportunity will give.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Them that Wow. So yep, a lot of people are
here for it.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Some people not, some people aren't happy about it. And
mainly the people that aren't happy about it, well y'all know.
So y'all know who them people are that are not happy.
Some of those board members. I think it's six of
them that will be put back on the ballot, and
Tijuana Murphy is one of them.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I think.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Porter quite a bit of them, quite a few of them.
So yeah, yeah, so.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
We'll see what happens, because this could.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Be an opportunity for him for them. But people look
at it as you know, the glass half empty. But
what if the glass is half full? So you got
two years, you already serve two years, you could end
up serving ten if you get re elected twice. So

(06:30):
it's kind of a win win depending on how you
look at it. You know, it's kind of a win win.
And it does make me wonder too, how how will
we feel? How you know, how people will feel? Next
time around? Will they be okay with electing some of
the people that they don't like right now. Just because

(06:51):
they don't like them right now don't mean that they
won't like them.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
You know, when election time comes around? Would you vote
for the people.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
That would be up for election? I think all of
them will be up for election next year, but I
guess the six. What I'm getting at is the six
that voted to get rid of fagins. Would you vote
for them this time around? If you're in their districts?
Would you do it?

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Hm? Hmm, Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
The Democrats are going to have a decision to make
as far as presidency is concerned next year, you guys,
m Former Vice President Kamala Harris, she's hinting that shape
she might be making another run at presidency. She might
be doing it again, running it back. But I don't

(07:46):
think she's going to be alone this time.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
She might. She might be in for a run for
her money.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
As far as the on the Democratic ticket is concerned, well,
she could end up being vice president again.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Who knows?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Or when can you be vice president again after you've
been vice president twice two times?

Speaker 7 (08:04):
Well?

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Anyway, California Governor Gavin Newsom has confirmed that he is
considering a twenty twenty eight presidential run.

Speaker 8 (08:14):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
So if it were up to you, which one would
you vote for right now? If you had a choice,
Gavin Newsom or Kamala.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Harris, what would you do? What would you do?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Big shout out to all those folks that are getting
together and helping out, you know people because of the
government shut down. I know some people that were coming
to town for the Brandy Monica concert and so now
they're changing, you know, their mind because they're unsure of
what could be happening as it relates to flights. You

(08:54):
know a lot of people that because right now it
doesn't look like the Democrats and the Republicans are going
to make up or play nice. It doesn't look like
they're gonna do it because at least we know nothing's
happened so far. But I mean, they could, they could
change their mind because I saw where one union, there's

(09:17):
a union that's saying that they're talking to the Democrats
and they're saying, hey, come on in this thing, in
this thing.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Get us get these people back to work.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
So hopefully and preyer llly that's gonna happen sometime real soon.
Hopefully we'll get back the government will get back up
and run it, and people will get paid.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
And people will keep their jobs hopefully. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Hey, did you guys hear about that truck hauling the
twenty one monkeys for a testing facility in Florida overturned
in Jasper County and Mississippi? I just steph, Yi, there's
one monkey on the loose. And this ain't good news either,
because first off, how did that flip over? And they

(10:12):
got pictures of the monkeys just coming out so aggressive
monkeys they say with hepatitis, sea herpes and COVID nineteen
are on the loose in Mississippi after that truck overturn.
Now word is they got all of them but one,
all but one.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
So hopefully I prefer for it.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Let me know they'll capture that last one. And flying Fish.
Did you guys hear that seafood restaurant in downtown Memphis
they decided to close after eighteen years.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
In a statement they said they posted to the business website,
they claimed that civil unrest in downtown Memphis is the
reason why they're closing. They said it's taunted their sales
to the point of no return. That's what they're saying,
but a lot of people are saying, uh, uh, it

(11:11):
ain't true, not true at all. So one of the person, uh,
let me see, I was looking at one of the
news stations and they had somebody that said, this is
the biggest joke I've seen in a while, flying Fish.
It may be because your of your inability to stay relevant,

(11:32):
or you know, as newer, more exciting dining experiences have
come to downtown and are booming. And then who was
this Downtown Neighborhood Association, the president Jarrett Price. Anyway, Uh,
that was part of what he said. And then he said, folks,

(11:52):
we just had four to five new restaurants opening downtown
and have flourished since they're opening.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Don't let these people.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Use civil unrest as an excuse to bad business practices
and failing attendance.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
A lot of people ain't too.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Happy about the fact that they are saying it's civil unrest,
is it. It's not what a lot of people are
saying on social media. So hopefully they're going to be well,
they're closing, but a lot of people are defending the
fact that they're that's not the reason why they're closing.
That ain't why they're closing. M that's what they're saying. Yeah,

(12:38):
it's linefish. In a statement posted to the business's website,
that's what they're saying. However, the president of the Downtown
Neighborhood Association, he had some other things to say, and
a lot of people like I said that I saw
on social media. You guys ever eat there? If you did,
let me know, maybe you'd like the food.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Maybe you did, maybe you didn't, I don't know. You
know what I found out. I was looking on social
media and I found out something. I found out that
I am a tests optimist. I saw that word today,
first time I ever saw it. And I'm curious if

(13:23):
you guys feel the same way.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
So I've been told for quite some time.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
That I'm running late all the time, and you know,
I hate it when I do that because I think
I have more time, but I don't, and sometimes I'm
running late for stuff.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Can't figure it out. I don't understand it at any rate.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
I found out today that a test optimist is a
person who consistently runs late because they think they have
more time than they actually do. And it said it's
really not a bad thing. It's not being lazy or
nothing like that. It's a thinking pattern shaped by the
way your brain handles time and optimism. Instead of planning

(14:04):
for real life delays, the brain imagines the best case
scenario and underestimates how long things will take.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Now that's me.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I do that quite a bit, and I'm not sure
why I do it. I just know it's something that
I do.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
I don't like it.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
I try to be I'm pretty much on time when
I go to places.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
But sometimes sometimes I'd be running a little late.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
And for me, I feel like being on time for
something is actually being early, and for a lot of things,
when I have to host something or go do something
like that, for a lot of things, being early is
on time because when you're early, you actually, you know,

(14:52):
get a chance to talk to people and get a
chance to kind of go over what it is, whatever
it is that you got to do for that event
or whatever, you know what I'm saying, especially if I'm,
like I said, hosting or m seeing something.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
But hearing that I'm a test.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Optimist makes me not feel so bad about it now.
And I didn't know there was some optimism involved in
that had no idea, but there is. Yeah, and then
I saw something on social media. If you want to
weigh in on it, feel free to do.

Speaker 9 (15:33):
So.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Family had a situation at a funeral. You know, when
it comes to people passing away, people get really emotional
sometimes those life events, it doesn't matter any kind of
life event that you go to, your family, you're part of,
people get really emotional, but especially when somebody passes away.
And I saw this video on social media where there

(16:01):
was some people's names that were left off the obituary
and what happened. Some people at the funeral didn't like it,
so they got into a fight.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
In the church. So I just won't tell you.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
When it comes to somebody passing away, people, like I said,
they get pretty emotional.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
They do. Oh, I'm hearing some noise out there. What
is going on?

Speaker 1 (16:31):
We got some people working around here are engineers. But
at any rate, Yeah, this situation may be kind of
sad because these folks were arguing because their names were
left off of the obituary.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
I've seen it before.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Y'all probably have too, but I've seen it before where
family members get upset about things. Some one family member
pays for everything and they do it the way they
It just happens, y'all.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Just know, you know, if.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
You're going through something like that, sending some love out
to you, but when somebody passes away, it's.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
It's it's just just.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Just prepare for the drama, any kind of life event.
Like I said, prepare for the drama. Let's go to
the phones and see what you guys are saying on today.

Speaker 10 (17:19):
W D I A hello, thanks going me.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Hey there, I'm doing good.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
How are you? I'm good good.

Speaker 11 (17:29):
I just want to have but I just want to
make a comment in regards to.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
The shut down.

Speaker 9 (17:38):
I just I just want to.

Speaker 11 (17:39):
Say that it is so unfortunate. I'm fortunate that the
people that voted these people in are the people that
are not getting paid.

Speaker 12 (17:53):
I don't like it.

Speaker 11 (17:54):
I think that the system is messed up that way
because the people that's not recent in their money, for
going to for going to work.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
These are the people that.

Speaker 10 (18:03):
Put you in office.

Speaker 11 (18:05):
But yet you guys set up there and take your
time and bicker and not making decisions in the best
interest for the people. I honestly think that until you
all can get together and make a decision, I think
that they shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Receive their salary.

Speaker 11 (18:23):
Why should the people that put you in office?

Speaker 10 (18:27):
Yep, it doesn't make any.

Speaker 11 (18:29):
Sense until I think if you did not receive your salary,
your benefits, I think you would be much quicker to
go to the table and work things out. But you're
not losing anything. And I don't think it's fair because
these are the people that put you in office, So

(18:49):
you shouldn't have the right to receive a.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Salary until you can do what you've.

Speaker 11 (18:54):
Been put up there to do and make a decision
that's in the best interest for.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Their from people. I don't understand it either. I don't
understand it. It's almost like.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
People lose them out.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
They can't feed their.

Speaker 11 (19:07):
Families and all that. But what do they What have
they done to to to end up having to suffer
those consequences. They haven't done anything. You are all out
of one's and the problem.

Speaker 10 (19:19):
You understand what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I understand what you're saying.

Speaker 11 (19:22):
That's my opinion about that whole shutdown thing, all right, Sam,
thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Oh, thank you so much for calling in. What's your name?

Speaker 10 (19:30):
Jannis Janis?

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Hey, Jannis, congratulations too, girl.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Oh, thank you so much. I appreciate you.

Speaker 11 (19:41):
Sorry, you're giving me hope in my uh that.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
A part of my years.

Speaker 13 (19:48):
I'm happy that.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
I was very very excited to hear, daddy.

Speaker 14 (19:51):
It was very good news.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Oh, thank you so much. Yeah, thank you so much.
I appreciate that. I really do, I really do all right,
bye bye? Yeah, because it was something I never thought that.
I mean, I really never thought I would do.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
I don't know why. I just never thought that I
would do it.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
I you know, I started to want it, and I did,
like I said before, work on myself, and then eventually
it happened, like came out of nowhere.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
It was a pleasant surprise. W d I A hello,
what's up, glad? How you doing?

Speaker 14 (20:31):
Oh?

Speaker 15 (20:31):
Hanging on the stormy you was a special lady. Thank
you were not looking for love and all the wrong
places it came to you.

Speaker 16 (20:40):
So that's when.

Speaker 10 (20:41):
It's real special right there. Yeah, And you never don't
kill women all the time.

Speaker 15 (20:45):
You never know who's watching you. She ain't gonna be
out there looking for no man. Somebody got their eye
on you. But the women mess up because they don't
take the one that's watching them, because.

Speaker 12 (20:58):
He's not he's not the man they looking for.

Speaker 15 (21:02):
They they don't realize you getting more from the man
than looking for you than the one you're looking for.
I got some friends trapped over there in Jamaica. Yeah,
I got some fans trapped over there. They took them
on the trip and they wasn't speaking it to happen.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Hmm.

Speaker 16 (21:21):
So I'm waiting.

Speaker 15 (21:22):
I'm waiting to hear from what I'm saying of my
other budgets here from and see.

Speaker 16 (21:26):
How things went.

Speaker 15 (21:30):
Yeah, and they need to leave one of the house
alone that I'm gonna serve the turn because he's almost
old with.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
That's what I thought. It'll be up in a minute.

Speaker 15 (21:41):
Yeah, and just justn't leave along cause it's like every
every kind of every kind.

Speaker 9 (21:45):
Of trick they try, it ain't working.

Speaker 15 (21:47):
She beat him, He beat them every time. Mm.

Speaker 16 (21:51):
I mean, just didn't leave alone.

Speaker 10 (21:54):
So when it comes down.

Speaker 15 (21:55):
Family, you know, family the worst thing.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
Family.

Speaker 15 (21:58):
I don't know whether the word the churches for a family.
Anytime it comes to a filom, I ain't never seen
people act their food and cut up. And the one
that'd be falling out hot and the screaming majority of
the time, that's the one that never did nothing.

Speaker 16 (22:15):
For the person.

Speaker 15 (22:17):
They just feel bad because the person's dad and they
didn't they didn't get said to do nothing.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Mm hm.

Speaker 15 (22:24):
So I mean, I just it's just it's just tell
always don't be the one that take care of them.
Did hear the other folks come then? Like I had
a finger up. She took care of her uncle. His
kids didn't do nothing for him. As soon as he died.
They came in there and took over everything. As long
as he died, they can't do anything. But they wouldn't

(22:45):
even come to take him to the hospital, make sure
his military and all that did up. She did everything.
And it's amazing how they just come out the wheelwork
and take over everything.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
It happens sometimes, Like I said, Clyde, when when stuff
like that happens, look out for the drama.

Speaker 15 (23:08):
Oh yeah, I just sit back and and this back
and watch it because I know it's coming.

Speaker 7 (23:13):
M h.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
And it happens to all of us. Thank you, Clyde.
It happens to all of us. It's not just uh,
this person or that part. It happens to everybody's family.
Everybody goes through it. You can be rich or you
can be poor. When it comes to stuff like that.
It happens to everybody.

Speaker 15 (23:32):
I know.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
For a second there, we were off the air, so
let me apologize for that. I don't know what was
going on for some folks. They said, we blanked out,
we blinked off for a minute, but we're back up
and running. Uh yeah, mister Burke's how you doing? He said,
Happy chocolate day. Ah. Let's see, the food was probably disgusting,
as people in Memphis love good food. You're talking about

(23:54):
the Flying what's the name of that place, the Flying.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Fish.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah, people said it was disgusting. That's what I'm That's
what I didn't say it because I don't think I
ever ate there. But that's what a lot of people
are saying that of all things. If you're going to
say you went out of business for a reason, don't
use that. Let's see, African Consultants says, if the food
and service in Memphis is good, you won't have a

(24:22):
problem staying in business.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Ain't that the truth?

Speaker 13 (24:25):
All right?

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Got some lines open if you want to get in here.
Nine oh one five three five nine three four two
eight hundred five zero three nine three four two eight
three three five three five nine three four two we'll
be back in a moment. Yesterday, I think it was
a couple of days ago it was Cranky co Worker's Day.
But shout out to all the folks out there that
are just trying to do their job wherever they're working

(24:48):
at and just trying to make a living.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Shout out to you, and.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Shout out to all the folks that are working for
the go them at right there, right now.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
And ain't getting a dime.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
I think some of the government workers their pay has
already been cut off, and in a couple of days
there's gonna be a lot of people that won't be able.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
To get their snap benefits a couple of days.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
And another shout out to all those folks who have said,
you know what, we're gonna join you in the fight.
We're gonna start helping people out. Maybe that's something you
guys want to do. I don't know if you want
to do it or not, but it's gonna be a
good time for all of us to come together and
help some people.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
But anyway, shout out to you.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Let's get back to these phones and see what you're
talking about on today.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
W D I A hello, hey there, David.

Speaker 15 (25:55):
Yeah, one of My favorite website is invest Media, and
I wanted to look at the reasons that people declared
bankrupt in America. I knew that medical extensions was number
one and number two, but according to Investorpedia, number one
is lost of income. Number two is medical extensions. Number

(26:17):
three is I get through all these ads affordable mortgage
flash foreclosure. Number four is overspending. Number five is providing
financial assistance, meaning that you provide financial assistance to a
relatives sold somebody else. I say that to say this,

(26:37):
I think the Democrats just did a very very poor
job of explaining way before the shutdown. In fact, last summer,
they should have started while when they made the deal
with the Republicans in regards to the Affordable CARECT or
the negotiation there.

Speaker 17 (26:55):
So people don't.

Speaker 15 (26:57):
Really understand what to stay with folks who don't get
medical care, probably affordable care aka Obamacare. So folks are
thinking that the Democrats are just just it just came
out of the blue. But that's not the people's fault
that they feel that way. It's a Democrats fault that
they didn't sell it from then and now. I think

(27:17):
that what folks should realize is that we should have
to make a choice between food and medical expenses, either
both of them to kill you sooner or later. I
know people who worked their whole life, worked hard and
honestly got sick and then had to declare bankruptcy, whose
everything give it to the government in order to go

(27:38):
into a nursing's home and all that kind of thing.
There's no diganty in that. So I think that we
need to have a come to Jesus meeting. White was
held on ball Show with the two lawyers she had
on there, and talk to people about this state and
why this fight is worth it. One thing I know
for sure, and I've known Republicans a long time, I

(27:59):
don't consider these teos the magas Republicans. I believe there's
something else altogether. But one thing I know for sure,
rich folks ain't never cried about post folks province. And
if you don't.

Speaker 18 (28:11):
Have somebody that is that is in your corner fighting
for you, yeah, and you just butt naked without any
type of line, lifeline or anything else to save you.

Speaker 17 (28:22):
So you know, I co sign on what you said.

Speaker 15 (28:26):
I really appreciate all these people stepping up and stepping in,
but you can't have a fight and what you decide
which round the fight is over if the US with
your opponent says he's gonna fight until eternity. And I
think that's what the Democrats just don't get, is that
they don't care how long it takes. They gonna keep
on taking away, keep on fighting, keep on doing whatever

(28:47):
they have to.

Speaker 16 (28:47):
Do to win.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
That is crazy to me, all of it, you know,
on both sides, it's crazy to me.

Speaker 7 (28:55):
You know.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Wow, You know something, David, I saw something, uh, yesterday
on a friend of mine on Facebook posted something, and
I thought it was really really interesting, y'all because I
think sometimes when we sometimes we are myopic, and by
that I mean we we only look at a thing
in one direction and we don't think about other things

(29:19):
that could be happening outside of what we can see.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
But she posted on social media that they're about to
let me let me repeat it so I can tell
you what I'm talking about before I say it.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
She was made a.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Post on social media and I think it was today.
The US Treasury has stopped production of pennies, which is
now impacting supply. If using cash for pay for payment,
please consider providing exact change so they stop with pennies

(29:55):
or they start with pennies and then what's next? You
know what I'm saying, And thank you for calling David.
What's next? Is it something that we're not seeing or
is there something bigger happening in America that we because
we always miss stuff. We because we are so focused

(30:17):
on one thing, we're not seeing everything else that could
be going on. And I said, I just it made
me think, Man, is there something else going on behind
the scenes that we don't know? That's because we're so
focused on what's happening now we can't see what else
somebody else may have up their sleeves.

Speaker 9 (30:36):
WD I A hello, are you this missus storing me?

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Hey there, young August? How are you?

Speaker 19 (30:44):
I am gad, how are you?

Speaker 3 (30:45):
I'm doing good, doing good.

Speaker 10 (30:48):
It's I Nor'm a little late, but this is my
first time talking to you.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
So congratulations mail.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Thank you, I appreciate you.

Speaker 19 (30:57):
Y's mail.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (30:59):
See yeah, yeah, Miss Dormant went. When it comes to
us missing something that's going.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
On behind the scene, that happens a lot.

Speaker 10 (31:07):
We just never know until they show us. We never
know because they can be cooking up anything.

Speaker 12 (31:14):
We never know.

Speaker 10 (31:15):
And that's I think.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
That's one of the dangerous sides of it because this
could end quickly.

Speaker 19 (31:19):
And I'm just waiting for the.

Speaker 10 (31:21):
Ad traffic controllers to end this like.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
They did before.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
And it may come to that because they're not getting
paid if they stay home and they delay flights. That
got me a problem before.

Speaker 11 (31:35):
Yeah, it got their attention before, and then they do it.
They probably have to do it since the government said
they seem not to want to come together, which don't.

Speaker 10 (31:43):
Make any sense because they can. Yeah, but I wouldn't
be surprised if they start canceling these flights because they
don't show up to work and that may be what
brings them to make a defeasion.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah, and they haven't started doing that yet, but I
did see a video where, you know, people are bringing
food to the airports to help. You know, these folks
eat because they're not getting paid. And I know somebody
that actually works at the airport and you know, thank goodness,
she's married and her husband is working, so they have
his income where he might work for the government too,

(32:19):
Oh my goodness. Yeah, so's it's it's a pretty unfortunate
situation for a lot of them right now.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
But you're right, somebody's got to step in. I saw
where one of.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
The largest laborers laborer companies in the country has stepped
up and they are demanding. Their demand is with the Democrats.
And I'm not sure why, but I did see that
on social media. But they're like, hey, let's y'all get
to the table. Here's the thing that I don't like,
a bunch of rich people deciding what happens with all

(32:51):
us poor people.

Speaker 10 (32:54):
Yeah, and not.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
A bunch of wealthy people, because them folks got a
bunch of money.

Speaker 10 (33:01):
They are wealthy, and they're still making money becoming more wealthy.
We there, Yeah, they don't care. It's here in these
psis just acting like they.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Care, m hm.

Speaker 15 (33:13):
And I don't like you decide.

Speaker 8 (33:16):
You know.

Speaker 10 (33:16):
I was talking to a friend over the weekend.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
He's to be in the military. Uh, he ended up
quitting because he couldn't continue going to work not getting
paid m hm.

Speaker 12 (33:28):
And so now he's.

Speaker 10 (33:29):
Considering relocating back here to where he grew up because
he just couldn't continue to work.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
And for one, he didn't like you know.

Speaker 10 (33:38):
It was just tough on the job anyway. But so
many people are suffering, and guys, I just hope it
comes to end.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
So yeah, I hope so too.

Speaker 10 (33:47):
But last thing is we were talking about the funeral home,
not the funeral. The funeral home the funeral going.

Speaker 19 (33:54):
Kind of crazy.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
That's the I know that when this this father passed,
he had a bunch of kids, and when they were
preparing for the funeral, the family couldn't decide on what
to do. Whose name was gonna go in the bituary
because he had so many kids, there were people that
they didn't want on the obituary. So because they could
not agree, they ended up not putting any other children's

(34:16):
name on thebituary.

Speaker 20 (34:17):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
That it was so much commotion that they said forget it.
And so the bituary had the man's mother, father, the
fact that here was the deacon and the other things
he did, but not one of the children's name was
listening and he had a bunch of mm.

Speaker 10 (34:31):
And this because of the means that they caused before
the funeral.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (34:36):
So yeah, it's just a lot of that stuff that
goes on.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, thank you for calling in August. Yeah, the drama,
the drama, the drama, and it's gonna it happens to
everybody's family, you know, A lot of people think, oh,
it's just my family.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Oh it's not.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
It's everybody's mind, and it's everybody else's wd I a hello,
hello there, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
How were you time?

Speaker 12 (35:00):
Fine?

Speaker 16 (35:00):
Story.

Speaker 9 (35:02):
I'm listening to everyone talking about this thing.

Speaker 7 (35:05):
With you know, with the Republican Democrats, with the government
being closed down.

Speaker 15 (35:09):
But let me start with the task force coming to Memphis.
A lot of people upset with the with the mayors
and the chief of police, but the governor Bill Lee,
President Trump. When you get your governor and your president
in in charge of what's going on, your local officials

(35:32):
is out of that hand. It's it's it's either we worked,
you work with them, or or whatever. They don't have
no say in it, is it right?

Speaker 3 (35:41):
No?

Speaker 15 (35:42):
Because now some people say, and what I look at
every night every morning when I listen to the news, somebody.

Speaker 17 (35:51):
Has been shot or somebody has been killed.

Speaker 15 (35:55):
So the the murder and that type of thing is
still going on. You're giving out a bunch of tickets
because you got enough people out there to do it.
You're catching a lot of people because you got a
lot of people.

Speaker 16 (36:08):
Here to do it.

Speaker 15 (36:09):
But the aftermath is what are you gonna do? When
it comes down to the courts, because when it comes
down sending court, you don't have enough to deal with
getting them in the court. Now as far as dealing
what we're yet, we're going on about the healthcare situation. Yes,
it's bad, but let's face it, Trump be wanting to

(36:31):
get rid of Obama Care for the loaners, and what
it boils down to if if the Democrats give in,
uh that a lot of us are gonna be stuck.
And I'm pickled because that co pay or just trying
to get that insurance. It's gonna be gone. Because you
can get rid of something, what you're gonna put back

(36:52):
in place of it that not be probably not off
or noo.

Speaker 17 (36:55):
And the thing about.

Speaker 15 (36:56):
It is Trump want to be a dictator and and
and you know what a dictator. He want to rule everything.
And the reason why he's sitting in the state troopers
there because he signed you he don't want to leave
guess what he can call it state troopers out.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
He can't touch it.

Speaker 15 (37:12):
That's what that's all about. And then the last thing
is you have to watch what he doing. Never heard
of nobody going to the you know, President gonna go
in and just this, this demolished a building, just destroy
it and put up a big old not call his
banquet hall. That's what it's all about. He want to

(37:34):
leave a legacy. And then the last thing is this,
he's so upset with Obama getting a Nobel peace pride
that that's what he wants and he's not gonna rest
until he get it.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Anyway, have a good one, all right, Thank you so
much for calling and appreciate you. W D I A hello, Stormy? Hey,
what's going on? What's going on when you girl can't
call it?

Speaker 16 (37:54):
Check?

Speaker 3 (37:55):
What's going on with you?

Speaker 15 (37:56):
Oh? Man? Sending to y'all talk about than that? Man,
There's so many things, but I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Let me touch on.

Speaker 15 (38:03):
The funeral situation. I didn't see it all. I just
saw part of where the sawyer got into with the folks.
But you know, like they call us it before, that's
that's almost unfortunate standard in the black community.

Speaker 17 (38:17):
Usually one ghost child.

Speaker 15 (38:19):
Well, I don't know what you want to call it,
but there are some kids you know on the outside.
Uh that that's that's just one of the things I
had to deal with that years ago with my uncle
when he passed. He had a lot. I was over
the over the probate and the wheel, and then you know,
we wound up there. Like they said, I didn't list
everybody on there. I listed the legitimate kids, the ones

(38:42):
by the by the wife or wife. He had two wives,
so those the only ones that I listed, but he
had several outside unfortunately, so I had to deal with that.
And you know, that's the kind of thing that that
actually happened. That's terribly unfortunate. But you know it's it's
it's in in our community.

Speaker 16 (39:03):
So uh, it's not started now.

Speaker 7 (39:07):
And as far as the the other part about the
task force, when he gentleman was speaking about tak force,
let me tell you something is good and bad. They
hear it makes some people feel comfortable. Uh, but but
hear me when I say this, all of this is
the in my opinion, In my opinion, this is all.

Speaker 12 (39:25):
A precursor to what he's trying to.

Speaker 15 (39:28):
Do in the long run, because why are they only
in democratic cities or states, you know, so areas where
he's going to contest any election. Uh, he's increased ice.
What I mean, you know, this is all secret police,
secret police, and and that's just still you know, my opinion,
and so it's gonna get ugly in November this year.

(39:49):
Uh and uh going forward to the mid term. You
hear me, all right, So I have a.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Great day, all right, Thank you, Chuck, you too. Yeah,
that's interesting. There's a lot of political infighting right now
because because what's going on with some candidates, as far
as these parties are concerned, is interesting.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
It's a lot of drama.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
The drama especially locally as far as when you look
at the Steve Moulroy, not Steve Moulroy, I'm talking about
our district attorney, not him, but when you look at
Cohen Cohen and Justin Pearson mm hm, that's supposed to
be one of those situations where they getting along and

(40:34):
they're not. So it's a lot of and I'm sure
it's a lot of that on the other side. And
I don't keep up with the other side as much
as you know I do this, I'd probably some infighting
with if if it is true that Marshall Blackburn wants
to snap benefits to continue and wants Tennessee to step in,
then there could be some infighting with you know, her
and Governor Lee and other Republicans grand standing or not

(41:00):
a bunch of political drama happening. But I asked the
question earlier. So if Kamala, if it's Kamala and Gavin Newsom,
who you wit?

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Like Bernie Mac used to say, who you win? So
shout out to all the chalk, the people out there
that's listening to the show. Appreciate you. Appreciate you too,
and you too.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
All right, let's see, let me go to the to
my emails, says, because people have emailed me.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Let's see.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
An African consultant says the caller Janice hit the head
or nail on the head. There are career politicians, and
they put the country in debt. They have shipped the
manufacturing jobs overseas. They have promoted all these wars overseas
that put the country further in debt, a trillion dollar

(41:44):
defense budget. Now they're busy fingers pointing while the citizens suffer. Yeah,
so Ms Thomas messaged me. She says, Hello, Stormy. These
politicians seem to be in it for themselves. They have
too much energy to fight each other. But here we
are in a government shutdown that should have been avoided.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
I agree. They don't care about us.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
They care more about their own agenda, and they're trying
to make the other side look bad. The Republicans should
have done what it takes to keep insurance costs down,
but they chose to lie, even though illegals aren't eligible
for the Affordable Care Act benefits. Then the Democrats decided

(42:29):
not to accept the extension to allow funds to be
in place through November because they wanted to force the
Republicans to negotiate. So much for serving their constituents. I
hate this is happening, but this is a good time
for us to be our brothers keeper.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
M So I'm done. All right there, let's go back
to the phones. WDIA, Hello, call you there.

Speaker 16 (42:55):
Story.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
Hey, how's it going, brother Bernard.

Speaker 16 (43:00):
You know it's going well.

Speaker 21 (43:01):
You know what on the people losing the snap the
food benefits strom it, that's that's that's that's unfortunate.

Speaker 15 (43:11):
I mean, this is a serious business.

Speaker 21 (43:14):
Yet you know, we we also know many of not
all of us, somebody who had uh as they say
them stamps for Salem and and you know, I mean
it's it's a shame for the people that have been
doing right, you know, by the system.

Speaker 17 (43:31):
But I believe at some point.

Speaker 21 (43:33):
They may have they may have reviewed, you know, tracking
and spending a lot of junk food and so on,
and you know it's it's it's unfortunate. Then it's coming
up on Thanksgiving and so on. But you know, before
our leaders on this note, we need to get back
as a people to our conservative values. And by that,

(43:56):
you know, it seems as though you know, we are
doing any in almost everything. We need to sort of
restore some order and just not think that we can
just be so liberal to a point. And I believe
it's a it's a situation where we sort of straight
away from realizing that where God's people. We we admit

(44:17):
to that, but we don't want but we don't want
to operate by any godly order.

Speaker 15 (44:23):
I want to thank you for taking my car.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
I appreciate your brother, Barna, thank you for making that call.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
W D I A.

Speaker 16 (44:29):
Hello, Stormy, how you doing around?

Speaker 3 (44:34):
I'm doing good, mister Henry Lee. How you doing?

Speaker 16 (44:38):
Oh I'm all right now, A Stormy, I'm doing all
right now.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
Oh that's good. I'm so glad. Yeah, I haven't heard
from you in a while.

Speaker 16 (44:48):
Yeah, and talk to you. Well, Well, let me say
I guess I shaid a congratulation to you and you
and that man now you.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 16 (45:06):
Yeah, you know you were thrown a while storming in,
I started back looking at old Steve Harvey.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Yeah, now are you cheating on me?

Speaker 16 (45:21):
N I listened in and I kept you know, I
heard her should that I had heard before. Figure you going,
and I started back looking at Steve Harvey. But uh,
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 22 (45:36):
Showing me that mint Wood come down into me you
had getting married, and that showed upset me.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
I did, I did.

Speaker 1 (45:44):
Yeah, I'm really happy, Henry, I'm very happy.

Speaker 22 (45:48):
Well that's what I told Connie. Well that's what I
told miss Wood. I told her the picture. She she, uh,
you look real good and happy on them pictures, and
well it with it upset me and I was so
glad you you got a big smile on your fish.

Speaker 3 (46:07):
Thank you so much, thank you.

Speaker 16 (46:10):
Yeah. I had a headache for a while.

Speaker 22 (46:16):
I took me a BC and a coke because I
had a headache. And you got a little upset with you
at first. But it ain't my place to be like that.

Speaker 14 (46:25):
M M.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
You gotta be happy for me.

Speaker 16 (46:30):
Yeah, yeah, I'm happy. You know you you always been
my second choice anyway, you know after.

Speaker 23 (46:40):
What yeah, yeah, well, yeah, okay, yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
Yeah, second choice.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yeah yeah, I'm glad I'm somebody's first choice.

Speaker 16 (46:50):
But but oh yeah, yeah, well nurse, I know she
got good feelings for me long I got with her. Rule,
I ain't gonna.

Speaker 22 (47:01):
I ain't gonna be greeting, be mad at you.

Speaker 16 (47:03):
And upset with you, and I got somebody Okay, I
won't somebody in nurse building, but you know, uh mm hmm, yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Yeah, bless your heart.

Speaker 16 (47:18):
Yeah, I'm going to call you.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
I'm so glad you did. I'm glad that you're doing well.
I really am.

Speaker 16 (47:25):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, I ain't gonna hold you. I feel
a little different talking to you now, Okay, I'm glad,
you know, yeah, yeah, I feel a little different. But
the man that marriage, I know, he happy, he is,
got a bit smile on his face. Yep, yeah yeah,

(47:47):
but I hope he don't tipple you like I do sometimes,
you know.

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Oh my goodness, he makes me laugh so very much
because then really, you know, it's a lot of single
women that call the station.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
Now I can I can hook you up?

Speaker 16 (48:01):
Well, no, I didn't. I don't want to upset nurse Beebly.
I hadn't made her from us. If some would have
happened to her husband, I'd be there to help out
out too. I don't want to make no one, you know, man,
I'd be nice to somebody, but I don't want to
make no mistake with with nurse. I think.

Speaker 3 (48:22):
I think Nurse Beverly will be just fine.

Speaker 16 (48:25):
Well I don't. I already told I'd be there for
if some want to happened. So ain't no sense in me,
Ain't no cension. You looking for nobody for me? Right now?

Speaker 1 (48:35):
I'm gonna help you out. We're gonna find you a
single woman. I'm gonna help you out, Okay, mmm.

Speaker 16 (48:41):
Yeah, well I tell you we'll talk about that some
other time.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
Yeah, a single woman. There's plenty of them that call here.
You see, Golden Girl is.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
Single, Miss Cassandra.

Speaker 16 (48:57):
No, I know one of them. One of them said
some about man. I don't know about Miss Freddie or.

Speaker 1 (49:01):
What miss I think Miss Freddy single? Yeah, miss you, well.

Speaker 16 (49:07):
Yeah, I believe she liked me in a little bit.
But but but I just want to be sure thing
to tear it up with me and nurse first.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
I think you just fine. I thank you you know
what I'm saying. I think you could move on.

Speaker 16 (49:24):
I just see. We'll talk about that some other time.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
Okay, okay, all right, Well.

Speaker 16 (49:32):
I wanted to talk to you and hello to you.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
Well, thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 22 (49:37):
All right, you have a good one.

Speaker 16 (49:39):
I call you another time.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
All right, thank you for calling. All right, all right, bye? Bye?

Speaker 1 (49:46):
Oh bless us hard, Oh bless it's hard. Mmmmm bless
his heart.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
W D I a hello.

Speaker 17 (50:00):
Been showing me how you're doing it.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
I'm doing good. I feel kind of sad for mister
Henry Lee.

Speaker 17 (50:05):
You don't want to move on, mister Henry Lee. Is
a song by jay Z and two short calls.

Speaker 19 (50:12):
Just a week ago, it was all It was all
good just a week ago. It wasn't alone.

Speaker 17 (50:20):
Okay, listen to that song. It was all good just
a week ago, the same.

Speaker 19 (50:25):
Yeah you asked about Kamala and Gavin Newsom Caddy. Yeah,
Kamala is not a good candidate. She wasn't a good
candidate the first time. They didn't prepare her.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
But she's thinking about doing it again.

Speaker 19 (50:42):
Well, mean, it's better than the cool that they pulled
to get the president they had, so at least this time,
they can see it coming. They had time to prepare
Gavin Newsom, Gavin Newsom is not going to get the
black vote because he's gonna lose a lot of black
voat in California. Why do you say that stuff he put.

Speaker 17 (51:02):
Because of what he put with the reparations.

Speaker 19 (51:04):
Billin, he drafted Reverence and he and he vetold both times,
so they hadn't forgotten that. So yeah, the and it's
all fun and games because I put it this way,
we have one hundred us senders, right, all one hundreds
of them in our meanings, every last right. And the

(51:29):
Congress people they come to office, they may not be,
but by the time they leave they are too.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
And here's the thing. They're getting richer and richer.

Speaker 19 (51:38):
Every day, right because their slaves to the lobbyists, the donors.
The donors, the lobbyists get them, they hook them in. Hey,
if you get money to this person, they they'll take
care of you. So they're like, okay, fine. And when
people and people have and I always say that I
hate to the forgiveness and the weakness, and my people

(52:00):
Black people have fooled themselves into thinking that somehow the
Democrat give a crab about that. And before you Republican
boot looking logs get all happen, you know that they
don't care about black people leaving. And see they get
there and it's all about money and everybody needs money,
and everybody understands, everybody respects that.

Speaker 17 (52:20):
But you can sing them to you are blue in
the face. People are not.

Speaker 19 (52:24):
Gonna have food, they don't care for holidays are come up.

Speaker 17 (52:27):
They don't care. People make that from it.

Speaker 19 (52:30):
They don't care. Now Democrats not Republicans. They get on
TV and they show both. And I've said to them,
the black folks love all them days. Get somebody to
come and slick talk and put on the show. We
love them. We'll vote to them. But what they get done,
I don't know, but I like it, okay. And white

(52:53):
people are just as bad. They get the person that
says the stuff that they're killed to them.

Speaker 15 (52:58):
Well, I won't make it.

Speaker 19 (53:00):
I'm not gonna do anything for you, but I make
sure those folks over there don't get nothing either. Okay,
we're gonna vote in and that's the way to live
in there, Stormy. It doesn't matter. If you've seen the
movie Gladiator, the scene where the young guy college who
killed his father and be can't imp And the guy
told them, You're like man, people know you just giving

(53:21):
them games? You think, yes they will. You have to
look at where we are, look at where the world is.
You can't have a conversation without some conservative, as they
call it, mentioning woke liberal or left and Democrats don't
get happy because you guys are blind because y'all think
that they care about it. Meanwhile, here we are, I

(53:44):
can give you numbers about the definity and how little
the snap benefits afective, most of it.

Speaker 16 (53:53):
To the cat.

Speaker 19 (53:54):
They know that. The last thing before I get off,
they want to get rid of you affordable care. But
nobody asked the question, Okay, well.

Speaker 17 (54:03):
What are you gonna replace it?

Speaker 16 (54:03):
What are you gonna do?

Speaker 19 (54:04):
They don't have anything to replace to with storman. You
know why because the Affordable Care Act was their plan
all Obama gain was taking getting passed. That's why they've
never been able to produce and I'm waiting to hear
one of your line conservatives, they've never been able to
produce another plan to replace it.

Speaker 9 (54:24):
Trump was in.

Speaker 19 (54:24):
Office with eight years ago. You didn't have one then,
you don't have one now because the planet they got
now was dazz And I give Obama that he was
smart enough to be like, Okay, we want to give
y'all y'all stuff, and y'all vote against. But that's all
I have in store. I mean, you pray for people
because again, like I said.

Speaker 17 (54:41):
Maybe you know y'all praying Christian?

Speaker 8 (54:44):
Do that?

Speaker 19 (54:45):
Do that and when the peopuld come up with vote again.
You know what you're gonna do.

Speaker 12 (54:48):
Well.

Speaker 17 (54:48):
I like it you're gonna vote for them again.

Speaker 3 (54:53):
I got your mind.

Speaker 9 (54:55):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (54:56):
No, I appreciate you calling in. Thank you so much.
W d I A Hello? Oh hello? Hey kay?

Speaker 1 (55:07):
Uh something's going on with your phone?

Speaker 3 (55:11):
Well call you that?

Speaker 1 (55:16):
Uh yeah, yeah, you call me back. Yeah, because yeah,
it sounds like that Chipmunk line. That line is good
get people every now and then it just shows up.
It's like what, w d I A Hello.

Speaker 14 (55:28):
Well, I'll show over, don't show up on black Tastic baby.

Speaker 3 (55:31):
No, you sound pretty good right about now. Yeah, you're
doing good?

Speaker 9 (55:35):
All right, my sister, how you doing.

Speaker 3 (55:37):
I'm blessed. I'm better than I should be. You know
what I'm saying. I'm blessed. I'm black Tastic too. I'm
black tastic too. Yes, sir, yes, sir, there you go.

Speaker 16 (55:47):
Well, I want to.

Speaker 17 (55:47):
Say to the last say they want to be pulling both.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
Over the publicly.

Speaker 14 (55:51):
They don't love me either. They're proving that over and
over again. So but anyway, I'm I'm I'm not getting
too deep in that old politics because I don't trust
much of any of them. Do and be honest with you,
you know, we have a few good ones here, but
when it comes to putting out trust and Republicans and
some Democrats, man, we you.

Speaker 16 (56:12):
Know, we still.

Speaker 17 (56:14):
We're still in trouble, and we've.

Speaker 14 (56:16):
Been in trouble for a long time as a people,
and it's even worse now. But I don't care what
people say and how they look at it. The Republicans
can have Republicans could have shut that down right now,
even without the Democrats. They could have done that. They
don't have to do all they're doing to hurt people
the way in which they're doing, and they come on
that's that make it make sense? How many children are

(56:37):
suffering as a result of their evilness and their hatred,
and you got we have these people who want to
lift them up and all this other crap and talk
about how much they love and want to put somewhere.
I promise you that's not where I'm going with it.
My goal right now is hopefully our people are empowered
more and then we get out and really really vote
this time and make sure we do the right thing

(56:59):
where our people have concerned. Being that we are suffering
the way we are suffering now and the way we're
still trying to wipe our history and everything else from us.
That I will tell us something right there that I
would be enough the crowd for every last one of
us to get up and vote, register to vote, and
get others out there to vote as well and make
it happen. And if Commas decided to run again, god knows,

(57:22):
I would be supporting her, voting for her. But I'll
tell you know who I would really like to see
as president, cool Jasmine crocod Baby. I mean, it's probably
will happen because see, they hate it too much, Republicans
hate it too much.

Speaker 17 (57:35):
But that's a bad.

Speaker 14 (57:37):
System right up by the Memphis, Tennessee baby from Rhodes College.
Yeah she is, So you know, that's the onely thing
I think we need to do. And putting more emphasis
on teaching our history and culture. The more they try
to wipe it out, take it from us, the more
we all be teaching and working toward educating our people
and empower our people, and certainly carry our people to

(58:00):
get out and vote and take care of themselves and
help each other, help each other. That's what we ought
to be really putting out emphasis I think.

Speaker 16 (58:11):
Anyway, since I.

Speaker 14 (58:12):
Just want you to know how much I appreciate you.
Enjoy what you're doing, man, and just keep up the
great work I watched. I watched that meeting last night,
and I tell you it was a mess, the kind
of commission meeting. It was a mess. But I'm telling you,
at one time, I have to say that Tawanna Murphy,
in my opinion, was not wrong. I think people should

(58:36):
have left. They shouldn't be attacking her, especially improve her
daughter in mess. That's that's shameful. That's very disrespectful. I
don't know green was the way tell she has done things,
But I certainly wouldn't be attacking her, nor would I.

Speaker 17 (58:50):
Be at that child there.

Speaker 11 (58:52):
That's wrong.

Speaker 9 (58:53):
Yeah, that's wrong, man, she don't.

Speaker 14 (58:55):
It's really know nobody we should do that to know
about it, include their children in our mess. Right, So anyway,
thank you so such for allowing me to share.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
Thank you mister Redwing, and for all you do over
at the African Village.

Speaker 3 (59:08):
We do appreciate you, We really do.

Speaker 17 (59:10):
Thank you, sir.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
All right, bye bye, Let's see let's go back to
the phones and see who's holding on here?

Speaker 3 (59:16):
W G I A hello, yes, hello, hey there? How
are you all right?

Speaker 8 (59:23):
How you're doing ma'am? I would just call it telling
me what that older gentleman was he for real?

Speaker 19 (59:29):
Or you know what I lie?

Speaker 3 (59:32):
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know because
he tickles me and sometimes look.

Speaker 8 (59:39):
I'm trying not to laugh. But I couldn't believe.

Speaker 16 (59:42):
That, you know.

Speaker 8 (59:43):
But to the people out there, if you got some
elderly or some older dust in your family, please check
on them. That's that right there. I couldn't believe it,
you know, but I can't believe it.

Speaker 17 (59:55):
So that's why I'm calling you.

Speaker 8 (59:56):
I figure you could know, tell me the truth, you know.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
I you know, one day, some days I think yeah,
and then some days I don't know, So I just
you know, Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:00:10):
That's that's why we have to pick on our people.

Speaker 9 (01:00:12):
Please, Yeah, you know, but I'm joined the show.

Speaker 8 (01:00:15):
And thank you again for.

Speaker 15 (01:00:16):
Taking a call.

Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
You're very welcome. Thank you for making that call. Yeah,
uh listen, Uh, let me I tell you what. I'm
gonna take a break and I'm gonna come back and
I'm gonna get with you guys that have tapped in
on this iHeartRadio app and those of you that are
on the phone so very much. Thank you to all
of the uh the new callers that have been calling
into the show.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Thank you so much. And thank you to all the
folks that are new and calling back. Yeah, continue to
do that.

Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Make a name for yourself here. You'd be the next
new let's see radio star. People be calling your name. Yeah,
that could be you. But thank you again to all
of you the call in check in with the show.
All right, let me see some of your emails here,
Clyde says, Miss Stormy, y'all act like Donald Trump is

(01:01:08):
the first president that had a shut down. This ain't
the first time. You're right, Clyde, You're right, you're right,
not the first time. Ralph Bell says it's easy for
the Union to pressure Democrats to give in.

Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
All of their members have insurance.

Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
That's what this country is becoming, the haves versus the
have nots. I see, mister Ernest, says Kamala Harris. Good afternoon, Stormy.
This is ec and I like Kamala Harris. I believe
that she is more than qualified to be president. Kamala
cannot win president in the United States because of racism
and sexism. President Obama was lucky and came along at

(01:01:45):
the right time. It is going to be almost impossible
for a person of color to win. I would love
to see a male or female of color to win,
but if a Democrat wants to win, they need a
white male candidate. In twenty twenty eight, we must realize
that blacks are only twelve percent of the population. Let's

(01:02:09):
go to this appen see what you're saying this on
this app today.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Hey, beautiful Stormy.

Speaker 24 (01:02:15):
Oh lady God, I'm just really tripping off mister Henry Lee.
He sounds like he's just has.

Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
A broken heart both ways.

Speaker 24 (01:02:24):
I mean you, Miss Beverly, really you although you were
his second choice, but his little heart is just broken.
Mister Henry Lee, don't feel that way. We love you,
mister henri Ly. Keep calling in Stormy your friend and
miss Beverley still your friends.

Speaker 16 (01:02:40):
We love you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:40):
Don't feel that way. God bless you.

Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Yeah, we love you. Mister Henry Lee, I don't feel
that way. Don't do it even in stormy good evening.

Speaker 23 (01:02:50):
Mister John Henry, you can move on there. You can't
outwait coach Coach got it so down o whatever, Nurse Bell,
he ain't going nowhere, baby, better pick one of them
ladies storming trying to hook you up with your chances
might be better.

Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
Have a great day.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Yeah, yep, that's miss Ann Missterimly she.

Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
Might be single.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
I'm just saying, I'm just saying, miss saying, I'm sorry,
let me put you put you out there like that.
But rob okay, let's go back to the phones and
see what you guys are saying.

Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
Who's been holding the longest w D I A hello, hey,
nothing much? What's going on? Honest? Man? Oh hey, I.

Speaker 25 (01:03:31):
Like the old folks say, come on in ob lines
over gas. I long to say something like, uh we
better watch marcha Blackbarn.

Speaker 19 (01:03:42):
Now.

Speaker 16 (01:03:42):
She said when she got an office and when she ran.

Speaker 25 (01:03:44):
The last time that see anything Trump come over with,
she gonna vote for it. So she's she's using this
this uh uh what you call well, you know that
about the pools. She used that program for my day
fighting against one of the other home leading let us
trying to get our mind on something else till we
vote for her.

Speaker 16 (01:04:04):
Then she gonna go.

Speaker 25 (01:04:04):
Riding with Trump and shut it down, you know what
I'm saying. So don't be fool.

Speaker 16 (01:04:08):
Out that people about that. Don't let this woman.

Speaker 25 (01:04:11):
Did you If anybody run against the vote for him.
I mean, whether it whatever it is, you know, hopefully
it'll be a Democrat or something like I said, but
I digate it in that area. But unless Henry Lee
issued mister Henry Lee is the old man and he
needs uh some type of companion, somebody just to you know,
talk to him and set around with him and and

(01:04:32):
help him pass the time.

Speaker 22 (01:04:33):
And it ain't got to be involved in those sections.

Speaker 25 (01:04:35):
Nothing, no money and stuff like this.

Speaker 16 (01:04:36):
See. But I hope if you.

Speaker 25 (01:04:37):
Do meet somebody, you know, they won't go in and
try to take advantage of.

Speaker 17 (01:04:41):
The old man.

Speaker 16 (01:04:41):
Because there's some sick women's out here, Likeking, some.

Speaker 25 (01:04:43):
Snick men, and they mostly try to pray on older men.
So you know, just getting a woman out here, some
of these women call her on this radio just as
mean as a snake, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 16 (01:04:53):
And you can hear him.

Speaker 25 (01:04:54):
Talking about how to but this man needs to take
care of that woman rented a whole year.

Speaker 16 (01:04:58):
You know what makes out. I ain't gon ain't gonna
do that. I don't tell y'all. I ain't gonna make
no black stament like that.

Speaker 25 (01:05:03):
But these women need to quit. They was there is
the man, according to God, there is the man.

Speaker 8 (01:05:08):
Helped me.

Speaker 16 (01:05:09):
You helped the man, but they're pushed it around.

Speaker 25 (01:05:12):
The man got to help them, They got the man
all got to bring something you you made, God made
you hit help me?

Speaker 16 (01:05:18):
And then and then they go to church.

Speaker 25 (01:05:19):
Sonny, it didn't do you no good if you come
right back ahead through the week and talk to the
saying talk about what what position man had and all
this kind of stuff. But you know, I rest my
cage on that, because see all them Republicans like back
Marca Blackburn, they all lie the same way. They'll say
you they're gonna do something today and turn around the
mind and do somebody totally difference.

Speaker 16 (01:05:38):
And Trump Trump good at that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
Yeah, yeah, I ain't mean to cut you off. You
said he's good at that.

Speaker 25 (01:05:44):
Yeah, yeah, it's not that no prep book, no, no Trump.
I'm talking about to then see all of them following Trump,
all them runners, all the all these advocates of Hill
that call around here members, you know, and stuff like that.
They know that man, and you know, yeah theyd about
the government ship. Now whoever tore up a government like this? Mantan,
you can to destroying everything that could benefit the.

Speaker 16 (01:06:07):
People that say you.

Speaker 25 (01:06:09):
It don't make no sense.

Speaker 16 (01:06:11):
And them they can't see this, you know, like I said,
you can't see the fire for.

Speaker 25 (01:06:15):
The trees, not realizing that the trees is the fire.

Speaker 1 (01:06:20):
All right, thank you so much for okay, yeah you too. Yeah,
people in Memphis are concerned about those monkeys, man. People
are Yeah, people are getting a little concerned because those
monkeys are loose in Mississippi. The word is they found

(01:06:40):
all of them but one. It was twenty one monkeys.
They were going to a test facility. What they're doing
with their monkeys? They said, the monkeys are aggressive and
they got hepatitis.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
C herpes in COVID nineteen. Now on the loose, they
got them all but one.

Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
Below infective.

Speaker 9 (01:07:05):
Hello there, how are you want to you're talking to Russell.

Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
Yes, I am mister Russell. How are you?

Speaker 19 (01:07:15):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (01:07:15):
I got I.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Got two things, okay.

Speaker 9 (01:07:19):
First, first, the old gentleman, my old woman, the flag
general you know best. The biggest smile I ever saw
off of a big ladies, the real well you know,
I'm a helpless romantic, so okay, I do the things

(01:07:41):
a little different from most guys. And my I'm talked
of twenty four roses and taking them out to dinner
and all of this good.

Speaker 16 (01:07:53):
Stuff, you know.

Speaker 9 (01:07:54):
But the biggest smile and the greatest hoods that I
ever got was give them, uh did some lady's uh
rose tudles?

Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute from who was it
your smile? You or the women as a smile when
you was giving them them rose petals?

Speaker 9 (01:08:16):
They were they they'll smiles in my you know leaf
for there. You would have to see.

Speaker 16 (01:08:25):
It, you know, but.

Speaker 9 (01:08:30):
Like if you came to my company, they would.

Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
Show you.

Speaker 9 (01:08:36):
The rose feels leaf yes on me, and I mean
they treasured. And then one asked me, say, how did
you know to do this? I said, I got sisters.
When sis tell me do this or do that? Usual

(01:08:57):
there a good uh idea and a lot of ladies
will tell you right off, what do I want to
do with Roses?

Speaker 19 (01:09:12):
That's right here is real.

Speaker 9 (01:09:13):
That's what he told me. This is real.

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Wow, mister Russell, are you married?

Speaker 9 (01:09:20):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
So you're single too? Excuse me, you're a bachelor.

Speaker 9 (01:09:26):
You know I've been two beds and playing wrong in
your Oh I don't know, but that that when you're
being truthful with him. I mean you would be surprised because.

Speaker 15 (01:09:44):
I need downtown me.

Speaker 9 (01:09:47):
What am I supposed to do?

Speaker 16 (01:09:48):
Now?

Speaker 9 (01:09:49):
Go to my sister? Hey, what do I supposed to do?
That's something you you know, when you really won't true feelings,
give him something that most most people would wonder. Why
is he coming on?

Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Don't give him no ideas. Don't give miss him really
no ideas. Mister Russell.

Speaker 9 (01:10:17):
It looks like they're doing pretty good to me.

Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
No, he ain't getting nowhere.

Speaker 9 (01:10:22):
Uh uh, I don't know, you know, we just uh
on the other hand.

Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
On the phone. That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
We don't know what's really going on with him and
Miss w I.

Speaker 9 (01:10:33):
Personal And the second thing I had was, you know,
have you ever heard this uh saying uh silon coop?
You know cool a ti mm hmmm, well then, Simon
Coop is when you don't go in with guns, blason

(01:10:55):
and all this, that's what Donald trumpets, printer Trump. He's
taking over all the Democrats, credit physics cities. You don't
care if you don't get completely taken over, just as
long as he reads chaos wherever he goes. Because you

Sorry, listen to me.

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
It takes somebody that it's so heartless.

Speaker 13 (01:18:05):
Their man had called in and said that he did
a pharaoh and he didn't include the outside kids that
with his kids.

Speaker 19 (01:18:12):
I just got a question why why?

Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
Like, how would that hurt you?

Speaker 13 (01:18:17):
You can you can devastate someone else's feelings, You can
send him into a state of depression, you can make
them feel unloved.

Speaker 19 (01:18:25):
You can do so many things to hurt them. But
how is it hurting you? Like, like, why wouldn't you
do it? You know?

Speaker 13 (01:18:31):
I mean so he said it, like I'm proud, Well
you know this is how it was. You know, we
just didn't do it again.

Speaker 19 (01:18:34):
Let me ask you why?

outside kids and get married to Mama wanted.

Speaker 19 (01:18:45):
They were still his flesh and gloves.

Speaker 13 (01:18:46):
Let me ask you again why they in bothering you
to add them to his thebituary. People need to stop
and think how they hurt and what they do and
what kind of trauma they calls our children or people
over something stupid. In my notes, it's no reason why
you at you left them out. They don't get me wrong,
I hate people had a fight at a fereal.

Speaker 19 (01:19:06):
But my sister when hurt.

Speaker 13 (01:19:08):
Baby Daddy died in nefficent and c he was in
the military. He had a lot going over himself and
he you know, he was put on child the boy.

Speaker 8 (01:19:17):
So he's pretty much.

Speaker 13 (01:19:18):
Told my sister, if you put me inside the fort,
I don't want nothing to do with the kids.

Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
So when he died, I was going to go to
the theeral.

Speaker 9 (01:19:24):
I didn't go because I'm telling me, if I go
to the theeral.

Speaker 19 (01:19:26):
I'm gonna stand up and get my testimony what.

Speaker 16 (01:19:29):
A dead bee he was.

Speaker 13 (01:19:30):
So unless y'all want me to any hystereial tell what
a dead bee he was to say, I don't leave
it all that line.

Speaker 19 (01:19:35):
I mean, I'd rather not say.

Speaker 13 (01:19:36):
Nothing at all and get there.

Speaker 17 (01:19:37):
Oh he was a great person.

Speaker 13 (01:19:38):
No, I'm not going to sit there and listen to
all the line.

Speaker 19 (01:19:40):
I'm gonna sit up and say, no, he wasn't.

Speaker 12 (01:19:42):
He was a dead beat.

Speaker 13 (01:19:43):
You got two beautiful girls here and you didn't take
care of them at all. So I didn't go for
that reason.

Speaker 15 (01:19:47):
But yeah, but if I do.

Speaker 13 (01:19:49):
Understand why people say, well, sireal was not the time
in place for there, I said I made a different
When is it this is the only time he's gonna
get everybody in one place that did he know, I
mean everybody to know he was a dead beating nothing.

Speaker 19 (01:20:00):
So yeah, I would do something like that, and I
with I fight.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
No, never thlew to that level.

Speaker 19 (01:20:04):
But I will get up there and tell the truth
about how you lived the life and deal with down line.

Speaker 17 (01:20:09):
I did my own brother.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
I did my brother.

Speaker 13 (01:20:11):
I'll say I made my thing.

Speaker 19 (01:20:12):
And I said, I hope I'll see you again if
you know what, maybe not.

Speaker 15 (01:20:15):
I mean, you was a murder.

Speaker 19 (01:20:16):
I don't want to say you again. You rota to
be going hand. I'm not going to see you again.

Speaker 13 (01:20:19):
And then but before I know it, you gonna say

I hope he's prepaying before you.

it a couple of times to some people today. And
I'm not sure why it happened on the particular lines
that had happened on, but yeah, it happens.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
