(06:21):
Keith Williams.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (06:23):
I'm great. How are you doing today?

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I'm hanging. I'm hanging, brother, we hang it?

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Say it is it?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, we're hanging. You have a beautiful smile.

Speaker 8 (06:31):
Oh, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
You do you do?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
You do well? Corrections Deputy Williams, the Shelby County Sheriff's office.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
They are hiring what, Yes, we are hiring, and.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
You're looking for what kind of folks and what are
you looking for When you say you're hiring, you're hiring
who and for what?

Speaker 3 (06:49):
We're hiring for corrections, Deputy, and we're hiring for people
that wants to help the community, some people that has
that drive to reach out and help people that you know,
less fortunate and you know, and got into some trouble
in their life. And we're looking for people to come
out and you know, to put put it in their applications,

(07:09):
you know, for corrections deputy.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
And when let me back up, So when we say
corrections deputy, what does that entael?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
So basically, you supervise inmates. You supervise and manage inmates.
So the thing about it is we teach you security,
safety and management of inmates. So you get them to court,
from court to visitation to medical. That's part of your job. Okay,
you feed them and house them. You just make sure
that everything run so smooth in the facility.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
So so corrections Deputy Williams, when when you say corrections,
is are they working at the Because I always get
this confused. Downtown facility or out our east facility.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
So downtown facility house mostly our male in the facility
in the jail East it houses mostly the females and
some juveniles that's been bound over.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
But that and that is part of the sheriff's deputies.
That's part of their duties. Yes, both facilities. Yes, it
is okay, okay.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
And so when you're.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Saying you're looking for people who want to work with
the community, yes, so talk about it, talk about it, okay.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
So basically we're looking for people to have strong more
more values. Okay, You're able to be able to be
in an environment that's not not an area where most
people can do it. You have to have a strong
background with this. We are training on everything you need

(08:55):
to do. We give you twelve weeks of training Monday
through Fridays for twelve weeks from eight to four thirty.
And the starting pay is forty eight thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Oh that's good.

Speaker 8 (09:08):
Yes, that's the starting pay.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
That's starting and then three years you go to fifty
three and then in five years you go to sixty
two thousand.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
So say I, for instance, you have a college degree.
If you have a college degree, we pay you seven
point not a college degree, but a bester's degree. They
pay you seven point five percent to your annual salary. Okay,
so that's something that you get as well, plus to
pay vacations and plus you know, annual leave. So if

(09:36):
you go to in service, that's an annual in service
each year and we pay you for those you know,
hours that you do. That it's like a refresher you know,
to bring you up to date on the newest things
that's going on in corrections.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Okay, So I want to go back and at WUT
Williams when you're talking about so when these people they
apply for the job and they give hired, do you
start off at these facilities or you start off in
a patrol car. I guess you would call it.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Well, the thing about it is when you start off,
we take you through twelve weeks of training at the academy. Okay,
so you would be familiar with going to the facility,
but you won't be doing anything, you just be observing.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Doing that twelve weeks of training, we give you CPR,
other things like verbal judo. We give you things that
you may need to you know, manage the inmates and
then after that twelve weeks of training, you graduate, and
then you go to ninety days on the job training
and doing that ninety days on the job training, you're
with another officer and you're learning what you will actually

(10:42):
be doing the whole time.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
So definitely, Williams. So, so basically these jobs are you're
going to be in the facilities. You you won't be
maybe riding in a car, you know, doing that. So
basically you're that's our patrol deputy. Patrol deputy, Okay, that's
what I'm asking. Yes, so you won't be a patrol deputy,
you'll be working in the facility, yes, okay, so either

(11:07):
one downtown or jail East. Okay, now can you start
this career? People who apply say only you have a
high school diploma.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
So yes, that's all we exd for is a high
school diploma. You'd be eighteen years of age and then
just smid your application.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
You have to go through a background.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Check and they would do a psychological psychological exam on
you and you know, basically you know, we'll train you
on everything you need to do as a correctious deputy.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Okay. Okay, so that's good, So you can apply right
out out of high school, having that high school diploma.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
I had a high school diploma. If you have your
college degree, okay, you can also apply.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Okay, Yes, and I love what you said at the
starting salary forty eight Yes, it is forty eight thousand.
That's good. Yes, Now people who can Okay, we know
you can high school diploma or.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
A college graduate.

Speaker 8 (12:18):
Right and you can even have your GED. Oh, okay,
as long as you have your GED, you still can apply.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Now, are you all looking for people just from the
Memphis area, because I should tell you that if you
when you're being heard all over, or you accepting applications
from folks who may be listening, who may be in
Arkansas or Mississippi.

Speaker 8 (12:41):
Exactly, we.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Accept applications from the surrounding community as well. You don't
have to live here in Shelby County. You can live
outside Shelby Shelby County.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Okay. Now that's a good point. If you are hired
and say you live in Mississippi, you have to move
to Shelby County or state.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
You can stay in Mississippi and he still has just
come to work. Loans is in the you know the
time limit where you can get to work work behind you.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Oh that's good.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
So, folks who are listening who live over.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
In Arkansas, it's definitely you know, our brothers and sisters over.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
There in West Memphis or right down you know, Desda County,
Marshall County. You know we're close there that you can
you can apply for this job if you're hired, and
you can still live in those states.

Speaker 9 (13:33):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
And the thing about it is, uh, this is not
just a job. This is a career, okay, because get it,
get me straight. This career can take you. I mean,
in three years you can make sergeant and three years
you can go to transportation. Three years you can go
to uh special ops, you know K nine unit, gang unit. Okay,

(13:56):
you know a tender response team. I mean three years,
you can make this career.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I mean, you know, so you can sow what you're
saying to our listeners. I love this that once you're
hired and there for three years, you don't have to
stay at the facilities. You can move up to other
positions in the shelter.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
You actually can move up in rank if you want to. Okay, Okay,
there's other places that you can move around in the
sheriff Department.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
And and with that moving around, does your salary move up?

Speaker 3 (14:34):
In some cases it does, okay, especially if you apply
for sergeant whatnot, your your salary increases.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
It sounds like it's a well I'm saying it sounds
like it's an easy job.

Speaker 10 (14:47):
But I know it.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Y'all mean where you said it is not for everybody,
you know what. Everybody can't handle this, that's true.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
How long have you been with them?

Speaker 8 (15:00):
I've been one of them twenty eight years?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Wow, ma'am you're not ready to retire, No, ma'am. Oh
Keby Williams saying I almost still hang around.

Speaker 8 (15:09):
Yes, When you love what you do, is that work?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah? And so and like you said, and I get
what you're saying, it's just like me, this is not
a job. It's been a career for me.

Speaker 8 (15:20):
Correct.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
And so when you when you love what you do,
you don't mind doing it.

Speaker 8 (15:24):
You don't mind doing that, okay.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
And we also have a five thousand dollars signing retention
bonus where it's it's the five thousand dollars is given
to you after your first year, so let's added on
to your salary. They give it to you like every
six months to you get like thirteen hundred dollars and
then it goes and incomings so like that. So that's
an extra five thousand dollars added on to their forty
eight thousand.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Oh that's good.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
But you have to be in good standings though.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Yes, so what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Being in good sendings?

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Being in good standards means that you have to be
at work and come to work on time and be
at work, gotcha, yes, yeah, be on time, show up
for work, yes, right, and ready to work and ready
to work, no calling in sick and all that exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
I love that. If you've just tuned in this morning,
we are talking with corrections Deputy with the Shelby County
Shar's Office, Deputy Keith Williams. They are hiring you all.

Speaker 5 (16:22):

Speaker 5 (16:53):

Speaker 2 (16:58):

Good morning to you, Beverly, Hi Hy, good morning Bear,
Good morning, how are you.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
I'm doing well? And good morning to you, Deputy Chief Williams.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
Good morning.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
I just called to give a salute and I had
off to you and all the deputy this deputy jailous
Is that right?

Speaker 8 (19:20):
Yes, ma'am, that is correct.

Speaker 7 (19:22):
Well, if I ran things, you all will be paid
six figures plus. Thank you so much, because you all
have hazardous job you need to be given hazardous pay.
I don't know whose jobs are the most hazardous, you

(19:44):
all or the police officers. Both of you all need
a greater higher salary or you need a supplement to
your salary calling hazard's pay.

Speaker 8 (19:58):
Yes, ma'am, thank you so much. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:01):
And I just or I just when I when I
see pictures on the TV and hear about the conditions
that you all have to work in, you know, along
you know, with with those who are who are residents
of the jail and the type of people that some
of them are. I mean, your lives are in danger

(20:24):
every day, just like police officers. And one thing I did,
one thing I noticed a lot of times when they
show pictures, you know, some of the jeffinitely jailers, some
things from the jail and off a lot of you
all are big buk mean, hey.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Hey, hey, befitely right because Steffandy Williams is in here,
he's a big buck many you know what, and he's
looking handsome. I'm going like, whoa, this is a big
buck man up in here.

Speaker 7 (21:02):
That's one thing I noticed. The mother a bump, I mean, and.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
I'm sure that's what a change you can hand on the.

Speaker 7 (21:10):
One hundred and forty five pounds man walking up and
the criminals d I mean, I don't mean to be
putting nobody down, but it's not necessarily.

Speaker 8 (21:19):
So man, that's not necessarily.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
You don't have to be big in buff as long
as you are able to be fir, firm, and consistent.

Speaker 8 (21:29):
It's not about your size. It's how you carry yourself.
That's right.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
I understand that. But I believe just an asset is
a big asset we have.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
We have a young lady this there, she's probably about
eighty five pounds, and wow, she runs a dormitory better
than some men do.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
So you know, yeah, size of better.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
Yeah, yes, I'm just just an observation. Why But like
I said, give an asset, all right? You talk to
you all and all the workers, and I hope you
get some recruits. What out here it is badly needed?

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Is bad?

Speaker 8 (22:12):
We need some help, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
All right, keep up the good work. Thank you, welcome,
bye bye bye bye.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
W d I a high caller.

Speaker 11 (22:24):
Job, hey, Clyde, and how your kids doing a right?

Speaker 8 (22:29):
How you doing Clyde?

Speaker 4 (22:30):
All right?

Speaker 10 (22:31):
But I just want to know two questions.

Speaker 12 (22:33):
I want to know what was the age limit that
you start that you can start out and can you
have a feeling.

Speaker 13 (22:40):
It or not to do that job?

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Good questions, Clyde Good questions, Clyde, thank you, Clyde Good questions.
I wants to know the age limit. Age limit is
eighteen and over.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
As long as you're eighteen to have a high school
diploma or you know, a college graduate or whatever you
know or ge, you're able to apply for this position.
But unfortunately with a feeling that you are not able
to because you'll be working for the sheriff office, so.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
You're not able to apply.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
No. Okay, hey, Frank, are you doing I'm doing well today,
Frank yourself.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
I'm doing all right.

Speaker 14 (23:20):
I'm doing all right. I agree with the young ladies
that they should be paid, you know, if they wouldn't
have paid them the right way, But it's the system.
The system allow people to put their lives in danger

(23:41):
because they don't care. But also they can use them
as well. That's why we have so much call up
because they're not getting paid enough to put their lives
in danger and the system knows this. And it's both
said that they depend on these people with their lives

(24:05):
and then they'll get somebody to run up and down
the football field and that playing games and give them
two and three eight million up and down the court.
And here's these people risking their lives to keep them safe,
but they don't care people.

Speaker 6 (24:25):
It's sad that we need to wake up and demand
that's what a routing, routing need to be and the
people that's protecting us, we need to really be focused
on them.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
Frank, do you have a specific question for Deputy Williams.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
Yes, ma'am, Yes, ma'am. When are you all.

Speaker 14 (24:51):
Is gonna just clean house, spark press and demand that
these new recruits get paid. That's what really have to happen.
To get a beautiful.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
Start, you need a pay raise with a new start
and a new training.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Letting them know that she you well, I think, Frank,
I think w even said if you if you missed it,
that they give him good training and they have a
good starting salary.

Speaker 10 (25:20):
Now, yes, I mean the more.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
The more, the more of the money, the more of
people is being lawful to the job. And that's been
pretty much what we're dinning.

Speaker 14 (25:35):
We have to deal with the truth to correct ourselves.
We can't be in denied.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Well, I know and deny, but I love what he said, Frank,
that they you know, they get a five thousand dollars
signing bonus. You know, some jobs on off of that,
and I know it's a dangerous job, but.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
That's the good.

Speaker 10 (25:53):
Why can't it be ten?

Speaker 6 (25:55):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Commission Frank, let me tell you, Deputy Williams say, you
have to talk. That's the county commissioners. They set the salary.

Speaker 8 (26:07):
Talk to them.

Speaker 14 (26:08):
We all got to talk one person.

Speaker 10 (26:12):
We all got to talk that protector, not twenty You
get a man twenty million to run up and down
the court. It's the same system, okay. And then the
person that's protecting you, you got the limited out.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Well, thank well, I'm gonna be with you. We're gonna
talk to those county commissioners, all right, thank you, Frank
wad say it's not up to you. It's the county
commissioners that set the salary. Indeed, yeah, w d I
a unforgetful.

Speaker 10 (26:47):
Hey, thank you, Mischelle, Yes, but will you I did
not shoot the sure.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Okay, don't shoot the either, though, all right, you want to.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
I do want to ask some tough questions. I hope
you can answer them personally. Okay, you did twenty eight year, right, yes, sir,
tell me about your retirement when you retire.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yes, so at twenty five years, I've opted into where
I can retire after twenty five years and I get
a pension.

Speaker 10 (27:27):
Okay, that's great.

Speaker 13 (27:28):
I'm glad to hear that.

Speaker 10 (27:29):
So if someone want to make this career out of something,
they will get a pension.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Well, the thing about it is when I signed up
for it, that was twenty five years ago, so I
can get a pinsion. So now I can retire it
either fifty five or I could if I got twenty
five years.

Speaker 8 (27:46):
But now it's the.

Speaker 10 (27:48):
People going now will not get a pension.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Well, they will get a pension, but it's a little longer.
They have to stay a little longer than I did.

Speaker 9 (27:56):
I mean, Oh.

Speaker 10 (27:57):
Okay, yeah, like I say, maybe another boy nine ten years.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
Okay, next question.

Speaker 10 (28:05):
Hey, now these is a hard question there, johnsy.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Okay, Well we're waiting for him.

Speaker 10 (28:13):
You know you heard about New Orleans breakdown there, right, Yes,
And I was just wondering what kind of system y'all
got there for Debu Day. That's honest and decent and
everything because I know they arrested a lot of people
in the system down there in New Orleans. A healthy
fields and break. Y'all have a in general?

Speaker 2 (28:38):
And what do you call.

Speaker 10 (28:40):
Good?

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Yeah, we know what you're asking. That's a good little question. Okay,
your deputy Williams.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
So you got to understand you have good and bad
wherever you go. Uh, you could be a school team teacher.
You have good school teachers, you have bad school teachers.
That's just the world. So you know, we try to
do the best job that we possibly can because we're
trying to serve the community and take care of our
families as well.

Speaker 10 (29:07):
Okay, when you open up the show, you said that
when you go through the training, yes, you're gonna be
put with some old school that's already there. Let's say
he corrupt. What a chance to do a person to
have if he knows he's to rupt, who could he
go to the an idea or what you guy, ain't

(29:29):
turn to files or something? What can you do?

Speaker 3 (29:31):
So he can report that person to his sergeant, or
he can report it to a lieutenant captain or whatnot,
you know, or he can you know, report it to
one of his supervisors.

Speaker 10 (29:40):
Yes, Okay, that's the only way you can do that.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
Yes, he can report it. That's the best thing to
do is to report.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
If you see somebody doing something wrong and you know
that's not part of part of our policies or procedures,
then you want to try to say, hey, look I
got one guy. He did something that I saw that
didn't look at ethical, so you know, and then we'll
take it from there.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
All right. I forget for a good yeah, good question.

Speaker 10 (30:10):
Some bad things, yeah, but but they don't.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
They don't caught those brothers except for two.

Speaker 10 (30:16):
I want the reason they got out because of the wow.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
And you're right, and and that's everywhere. I'm forgetful. Thank
you on forgetful. We appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Good questions.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
W d I a high caller. How y'all doing doing
well in yourself?

Speaker 14 (30:34):
Yes?

Speaker 13 (30:35):
Uh lol, Oh, let me help y'all out here. My
song worked it down there for twenty seven years and
uh he retired, he left still now he done started
another career. Matter of fact, his wife is still down there. Okay,
he's starting down there. It's so good to heal any
young man that can come out of high school and

(30:58):
looking for something to do. Sir, go to the Sheriff's department.
This is a good job and they have good dinner. Fits.
If I was a young man out of did the
same thing my son did out of came on there. Yeah,
so it's a good job. And he don retired. He
was down at twenty seven years.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
All right, mister Biddle, Well, thank you, mister.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
B thank you.

Speaker 13 (31:22):
Yeah, y'all have a good day, you too, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Bye bye. Deputy Williams, let me get these before I
go back to our phone lines. I have some emails
for you, and it says Deputy Williams, Hey, how are you?
I just wanted to ask will you be able to
apply for the job if you have long dread locks?
And do you have to have a driver's license? That's

(31:47):
a good question.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
That's a good question. You don't have to have a
driver's license as long as you have a valid I D.
And you can't have dreads. Oh God asks that you
put them up because of the training that we do.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Oh okay, okay, very good. Thank you Danny for that question.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
The next question from Jay is there a physical endurance
test required, such as fireman would have to do or
body weight limitations?

Speaker 8 (32:15):
That's that's a know on that.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
With our physical agility test, it's been postponed because we're
trying to get people in to apply because most of
the time when people look at physical agility tests and
they said, well, I ain't gonna baby do that. I
can't do a push up, right, So we postponed that
and you won't have to worry about that part, you know.

Speaker 8 (32:35):
But we do do some active stuff where we do
a lot of walking and stuff.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Oh okay, sounds good, going back to oh they hung
up phone lines. Oh so so giving all this good information,
Deputy Williams. You also people can get it on. You
have a website, yes, I do. They can go to
ww dot s c SO careers with an S dot com.
Or they can give me a call at nine on

(32:58):
one five six nine zero four three zero and just
text me hey, corrections or I'm looking for a job.
I'm interested, and I will shoot them the email or
I will shoot them the website and then they can apply.
Then okay, give that website again and your phone number.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
The website is ww dot SCS Careers with Aness dot com.
My telephone number is nine on one five six nine
zero four three zero.

Speaker 8 (33:30):
If you have any questions, just give me a call.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Okay. Now you know I didn't ask this question, well
you kind of hint at it. So are are women
welcome to apply?

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Most differently, the majority of our staff and is female
because a lot of men they think.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
No, Jeffarty Williams, Really.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
A lot of men think that they have to be
buff or you know, they have to be big, or
they're gonna be fighting. We're not paying you to Okay,
you know this is not You're not being paid to
be a boxer. So what we're training you to do
is have safety security management over inmates. Oh wow, you
don't have to be the big, buff guy like, yeah,

(34:14):
you could be small.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
So so, so women are welcome.

Speaker 8 (34:17):
Yes, women are welcomed. Most of our applicants are women. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
That's interesting because they when they do get there, the
men look at them as like a mother figure okay, cousins,
you know, sister or something like that.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
You know.

Speaker 8 (34:34):
The men I mostly might like mentors.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Okay, good, So if you're interested in being a mentor
and trying to, you know, help somebody out, because a
lot of these guys just trying to find their way.

Speaker 8 (34:44):
Yeah, you know, I think Yeah, a lot.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Of them trying to find their way once they find
out they're in trouble, then they're looking for an outlet.

Speaker 8 (34:50):
You know, what should I do next?

Speaker 3 (34:53):
And if you're a mentor that this is a good
you know, career for you to get into that way
you can be hands on and you can you know,
talk to him about a change your life.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
You know, what are you gonna do next? When you
get ready to get out?

Speaker 2 (35:04):
You know, sounds good. We are talking to Deputy Keith
Williams from the Shelby County Shar's Office.

Hall of Famer Bev Johnson.

Speaker 4 (36:03):

Speaker 1 (36:39):
I'm telling him, everyone come talking, everyone.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Welcome back. We are talking with Deputy Keith Williams of
the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. They're hiring.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Going back to our phone lines to talk with you.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Hi, Linda, Hello, Bell, How are y'all?

Speaker 7 (37:08):
I'm great?

Speaker 9 (37:10):
Of course is the top of the age eighteen? How old?

Speaker 10 (37:19):
What's the the old that she could be?

Speaker 8 (37:22):
So it's not an age limit cap on that.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
We have an officer that's I think he's like, uh,
I think it's about eighty years old.

Speaker 8 (37:32):
What he's like, he just.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
Walked out of a magazine, I mean uniform press earned,
you know, everyday boot shine. And I'm telling you it's
not a set certain age.

Speaker 8 (37:46):
That you have to be to do this position.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
So you know, if you feel like that, hey, I
want to help the community, I want to do something,
you know, to try to help others, then.

Speaker 8 (37:56):
This is position for you.

Speaker 9 (37:58):
Okay, that sounds good because I'm senior citizen, but i'm military.

Speaker 8 (38:03):
Great, great, Thank you for you, sir, And I do three.

Speaker 7 (38:07):
Miles as Chevy Farms every morning.

Speaker 8 (38:10):
Oh yeah, you're ready? Then you're ready?

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Linda? Say you ready? You ready?

Speaker 12 (38:17):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (38:18):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Again?

Speaker 3 (38:20):
My number is nine on one five six nine zero
four three zero and the website is ww dot s
c s O Careers with the nest dot com and
submit your application.

Speaker 10 (38:34):
Okay, sound good?

Speaker 9 (38:35):
All right?

Speaker 8 (38:36):
Three?

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Thank you, thank you, Bye bye, Hi Golden girl.

Speaker 10 (38:42):
Bye.

Speaker 9 (38:43):
How you guys doing well? Almost afternoon? She asked, my question,
it's going to be my seniors and grandma, So yes,
you do so want it?

Speaker 8 (38:58):
No, it's not.

Speaker 9 (39:01):
Okay, great, And my next question is what would eliminate
someone from the training. You said the training is ninety day,
so what would eliminate them that they would make it
through the training.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
So the training is twelve weeks, you get twelve weeks
of training at the academy, then you go to ninety
days on the job training. So some of the things
you know that make you know attendance. So if you're
not at work, we can't use you. You know, we
need you to be at work because you're showing us that, Hey,
I'm persistent about this. I want this job, i want

(39:35):
this career, and that's what I'm gonna be. I'm gonna
be here every day on time, not on time, but
I'm gonna be there before time. And then I'm gonna
be ready to you know, to work. So one of
the things that is not being at work, they could disqualify.

Speaker 9 (39:52):
That's that's forward any job, really, right, Okay, something to
do for a young person. Okay, So my next question
is after the training and your only job for the
ninety days is the training is inter position inside the
jail system or can you be a patrol man out

(40:12):
of training? It's a patrolman position or is that like
a rate like a what you came on it?

Speaker 3 (40:19):
So, so basically, if you're in the recruit class and
you say, hey, I think I want to apply for.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
A patrol deputy, We'll let you apply for it.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Let you go out and you know, do the physical
agility test, because they have an agility test for them.
And what they would do is we will let you
leave class and go and do what you need to
do for them, Say for instran you're doing the ritten test,
We'll let you leave and go do the ridden test
and you know it won't count against you. And then

(40:48):
if you get that position, then you would leave you
know the corrections deputy and then move over to patrol.

Speaker 8 (40:56):
It's really a way to get your foot in the door.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
If you want to go patrol, if you want to
do something different. You know this, this is a career
for you.

Speaker 9 (41:06):
Okay, So you just basically have to qualify for the
position that you want.

Speaker 8 (41:12):
Yes, you have to qualify. We have requirements for each position.

Speaker 9 (41:17):
Gotcha. Okay, Well, thank you very much, Thank you girl,
Bye bye.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
W D I a hey caller, Hello bell, Hey Chaplain Cummins.
How are you?

Speaker 9 (41:30):
Oh?

Speaker 12 (41:31):
Just great albums?

Speaker 14 (41:32):
I listen to the recruiter there, yes, sir, and uh.

Speaker 12 (41:34):
I like to little put a little add on many
people getting out. You know, we've got a little bit
of a problem people getting getting out in just fifteen
young people and they're well trained, and I want them
to know the Memphis is a good place to lave.
See them Emphy police who wanted the finds in the world.
You get out, Come on down to Memphis, put in
you already got some just filling in. You go through

(41:56):
your twelve weeks. Yes, become one about great. We need
to good polks who understand how to get along with
other people too, So we're looking for you in Memphis.
Come on nine and put in for.

Speaker 8 (42:06):
The Memphis to the police department.

Speaker 6 (42:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 14 (42:09):
What's all one?

Speaker 12 (42:09):

Speaker 2 (42:10):
All right, thank you Chaplain Bye, okay, bye bye. W Williams.
You got some folks on your side. They're trying to
help you out.

Speaker 8 (42:17):
Yeah, but make sure they come to the sheriff's office.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
Yeah, the Sheriff's not the policef yes, so so W. Williams.
As we get ready to close out again, tell our
listeners what you're what you're looking for.

able to retire exactly. Yes, have a good career. And
also again you said you're looking for folks eighteen and up.

Speaker 8 (43:08):

Speaker 9 (43:12):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
Cut up it up and just again, a high school
diploma or ged yes, uh huh, or college college or
you can just have college credits.

Speaker 2 (43:28):

all your uniforms are paid for. What Yes, we pay
for all your uniform Then you get a uniform alignment
