Mike Harmon. Call one eight eight farmers to switch. You
could save big on your auto insurance. It's really the
best thing you can do with your phone in a
few minutes. Just call one eight to eight farmers, that's
one triple eight farmers and start saving today. We are
(00:48):
farmers now before we get back into uh Baker in
the UFO, So I am, I am taking a page
from the Mike Harmon Book of Parenting this evening. Okay, yes, Uh,
in three hours, when one division drops, we're gonna wake
Zoe up and let her watch one division when it hits. Uh.
(01:09):
She doesn't have any test tomorrow in school, and everything
else is cool, so we're gonna wake up and like
like you've been doing so she can watch the finale
of one division. Yeah, we just had an agreement as
it began and she was all jacked up on it,
and you know, and like you do, we get deep
into their interests, right uh. I caught up on grays
anatomy for Eleanor and her love of all the medical dramas.
(01:31):
Learned some new terminology from Madeleine right now, deep into
the m c U. And you know, Harry Potter has
been pushed aside for a minute. So it's like, as
long as you're caught up on your stuff, the tests
are going well, the grades are good, because she made
sure to run down each of her courses today, saying
one more time, Dad, and it's like, here's here they
are all right. I finished soccer. I'm gonna take a
(01:53):
nap and then I'll see you later. So I mean
last year, last week, we made ben Ya's nice. We
may be before we watch Wan division beigny as now
now it's a tradition. Now you can't not have beignets
for one well we can't. Well I'm not there with
her today, so we'll have to do it virtually. Very nice,
(02:16):
make the virtual beignets, or just make beignets for yourself.
That's what I would do. I'm still gonna make beignets,
just gonna eat them all myself. Yeah, no, that I may.
I I've got half a box of the mixed left.
It's very up. Basically, it is the Cafe Dumont. Okay,
all you need is flour, the mix and some oil
and your golden and you know. And the crazy thing
(02:37):
about this tonight is that, Okay, here's one division. But
I was looking forward to getting done with the show
and watching Coming to America. Because that dropping a day early.
People are watching it now. Was supposed to come out
until tomorrow, but they decided to let it drop about
six hours early. I think at least six hours early,
most likely because they realized, you know, we're gonna get
destroyed in the path of Wan division, so why do
(03:00):
why don't we get an extra night of people getting
to watch Coming to America to Also, the reviews are
starting to come out on it now, and I would
say the reviews are mixed, which is actually good because
the worst thing that I was fearing, because I was
both excited and afraid for this movie, because you know
how great. The original is we just watched it the
other day. Um is that as long as there's some
(03:22):
really funny stuff in it, I don't care how bad
it is. Like, if there's some stuff that I can
remember and funny lines to go through, then then I
don't care that then then I'm good. But my worst
fear was that, boy, it would just be one of
those things where they they just made it, and they
it wasn't with the care that they made the first
one and and and everything that went into it. Look,
it's thirty years later, you're making a sequel and you're
(03:42):
trying to get so many people in it and have
new plot lines. I was so I'm so worried that
was just gonna be bad. But so far the reviews
are like, hey, it's a great trip down memory lane
with some really funny lines. You know, it's some parts
of it are funny, but boy, other parts of drags.
So I would say mixed reviews for Coming to America
Too is actually a good thing because the possibility this
could have been terrible and would have been a stain
(04:05):
on the movie and its memory was really big. I'm
actually okay that I'm seeing that with those reviews right now. Yeah,
don't scroll on Twitter. Then that's run bouts or Amazon
Twitter getting those reviews. Yeah no, I'm I'm I get
a streak, man, I need a t o. Hey, dude,
I'm I'm looking at people who are doing movie reviews
to review it, not just the random you know, Spike
(04:27):
J one to seven eight saying this movie sucks. There
shouldn't never done any people reviewing checkmarks. These are these
are folks that work in our extended industry here where
they're they're not kind and in two words they've said
a ton but you know what, I'll watch it and
(04:47):
and in the end, it's like watching an Adam Sandler movie.
To a degree I think is that people will hate
don't do don't do that. People are gonna go, oh no,
I'm not watching. You know, but you either appreach ate
it and you you laugh along or you don't. Right,
even the more recent ones, the ones he's done for Netflix,
some of them have some way out propositions. I know
(05:09):
you as soon as you see Jennifer Aniston, your your
negativity meter is already up. But the reality is, you know,
folks that enjoy his brand of humor, they're gonna find
some positivity to it. May not be their favorite, may not.
If you put out a big ranking of all the
Adam Sandler films, it's not gonna crack the top five. Likewise,
with this, if you appreciate the humor and the stylings
(05:30):
of Eddie Murphy and our Cineo Hall, and you have
such fondness for the first one, I'm sure there's gonna
be a couple of one liners that hit well for you.
So you know what, teach their own enjoy it critics
be damned and t J clearly coming to America hopening
to be an uncut gem that people respond to. Nice
(05:53):
Jason spent showing my car and live from the Farmer's
Insurance studio. So yeah, so wait, and you know, it
looks as long as there's some fun stuff. And look,
they have the barbershop scenes, so it can't be all bad. Uh.
You know, they have sexual chocolates in it, so it
can't be all bad. I mean, there's got to be
some fun stuff in it. So I am just hoping
that you know, there's there's more than like one or
two scenes. I'm hoping it's not Wonder Woman eighty four. Yeah,
(06:14):
that's that's my that's my big thing. It's like, well
that needed about half Yeah, it was about a half
hour of exercising stuff. It would have worked. No, I
think it needed about two and a half hours exercised
off you like you. It's a superhero movie that had
three scenes with a superhero in it. The vast majority
of the movie had no superheroes. It's a superhero movie.
Where's a superhero? It's not going to be in the
(06:35):
super Oh it's not. Yeah, okay, I mean that was
really that. That That's where I look back and I go,
you talk about a really bad movie that got positive
press because it came out during a pandemic and it
was free. That's Wonder Woman eighty four. Man, Because if
it was a normal year and that movie came out, Boy,
that that that you would say, this is what not
(06:56):
to do with a superhero movie. Wonder Woman eighty four,
This is how not to do it. We were gonna
have hours and hours on screen of just her not
being a superhero in a movie that's about superheroes. Yeah. No,
Like it was a bold proposition. It's a bold strategy,
Cotton if it pays off. Uh So, Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield
(07:17):
and the UFO again, not a story I thought we'd be.
Is it a chicken UFO ty shirt? You're playing? No,
that's alien sounds. That's don't play that again. That sounds
like a chicken. That's so. Apparently aliens are gonna come
out of space. They're gonna be chickens and they're gonna
(07:39):
they're Gonzo is their leader? Are we? Are we going
into a full pigs in space? Before done here? Then
suddenly it's gonna be Oh my god. Then Popeye's and
Wendy's has to get there. Hey, the chicken sandwich wars
are blowing up. Now we got alien chicken sandwiches. We
can serve. Hey, we can have this now. Who wants
to have the first alien chicken sandwich? All good? Uh? So?
(08:03):
Last night Baker Mayfield of The Browns claimed that he
almost saw UFO. He was coming back from dinner with
his wife and he thought he saw UFO. He put
this out on Twitter. Almost m and I, his wife Emily,
saw UFO drop straight out of the sky on our
way home from dinner. We stopped and looked at each
other and asked if either of us saw it. Very
(08:23):
bright ball of light going straight down out of the
sky towards Lake Travis. Anybody else witnessed this? His wife
backed him up on Twitter, saying all I know is
I saw something tonight I've never seen. I'm thrown off.
I'm typically not someone who buys into UFO talks. She
talked more about this on Instagram, saying, there was a
light that caught our eye. We were very, very confused.
(08:44):
According to the New York Posts, data from the National
UFO Reporting Center shows that UFO sightings are up fifty
percent since the COVID nineteen pandemic began last March. Maybe
more aliens are coming to our planet because they want
to see how we're handling the pandemic. Maybe it's research.
But I have questions about this because the right way
to attack this story is just let's let's let's talk
about UFOs here for a second. Uh. You know, I
(09:05):
don't think for a second Baker Mayfield is gonna have
a bad year next year in the NFL because he
says he thought he saw UFL. I don't think that's
it for a second. He's not gonna not win a
Super Bowl because he thought he saw UFO. You know,
last hour, we talked about a couple of big things.
Number one, why is it only one or two people
at the time to see UFOs at some point? They've
never been seen over a Mets game, although that wasn't
(09:27):
in Men in Black and Bernard guilty slide. But it's
not over a concert. Not not over it's one we
had shark made Oh that's what we did have Sharknado.
But shark Nado was real. I mean that happened. So
I mean that that that's why. But you don't you
don't see more than one or two people reporting on
UFOs at a time. Okay, Why is it always that
aliens are more intelligent than we are? Why do they
(09:49):
have all the greater techno? Why can't we have the
best technology? We don't know anything about other life forms
That could just be a bunch of slugs on planets
that can barely move. Theywhere if they're legitimately being seen
and they're here in our time in space? Yeah? But
are they? But are they? Are they really? I mean,
(10:09):
Baker Mayfield, I'm not gonna throw away what he asked
to say. So here's my question, here's my go ahead. Okay,
So what do you means that of all the times
that people have seen UFOs right in the world, we
have a lot of airports, right, we have tons of airports, right,
tons tons tons of airports. Um, all the UFOs apparently
(10:31):
have been able to avoid all kinds of airport radar,
all kinds of planes in the sky, all that no
one's seen any outside the window of a plane. No
radars ever picked one up when the UFOs are flying low, apparently,
like over lakes and different things. Not once, not one time.
If we gotten something from L A X or or
JFK Airport or Dullest or anywhere else, Hey, you know
(10:52):
we got we got something strange on this so well
we got on our radar here it's a big round ship,
it's a it's something, it's a spaceship. Why have we
not had that once? Why have we not had it?
And then they use the flashy thing to make you
forget about it? Or maybe they're all grounded, they're in
area you don't know. So you're thinking, if I'm trying
(11:14):
to read, what you're saying is that sometimes movies that
are made about aliens are actually based on real life
experiences that they can't tell the public because it's too
dangerous and might cause mass panic and hysteria. Correct, Okay,
And that's why the aliens appear only to one or
two people at a time. That way their their presence
(11:34):
is known. But there's still enough skeptics that as they
plan for the takeover. Sorry, folks, Uh they Why are
they always planning to take over? Why can't they? Hey,
we want to meet friends, Want I have new friends?
Right when they could? But they're still a game to
be had. Why why does there he can? Like I said,
maybe we're the smartest ones, Maybe we have all the resources.
(11:56):
Maybe why the why do they always have to take
us over? Why can't they? Just in my head as
you're speaking, the Roger Waters album Amused to Death is
playing this species has amused itself to death? Really a
deep thing. And this was long before the internet was
as pervasive as it is now in social media, Uh
(12:18):
did not exist. This goes all the way back to
the to the nineties. Man. We're back in the nineties, man,
but just a blip for aliens because they traveled millions.
But that's what I mean. But even then he was
saying that, you know, it's the species that amused itself
to death, and and you couldn't you couldn't possibly fathom
all these great things because you're too busy watching um
(12:41):
a sitcom. Okay, now, let's letter really ask you another
question about this, another question. So, if aliens have been
coming for so long, right now, these sightings are up
now and then forty three years, right Brady, right, right, right?
So at least that long and area fifty one is
what's sixty years old? Right started in the fifties, I think,
I mean that's when they gave it a proper name.
But go ahead, okay, so you at some point they've
(13:04):
kind of learned all they need to learn about the earth.
So why wouldn't they stop and say hi, or you know,
or attempt to take over of us like they've got
Why do they always show up and then the minute
they could be seen by one or two people, we
gotta go, well, what's the purpose of flying? However, many
millions of miles you have to fly to get here?
It's like it's like passengers where you know, do they
sleep for eighty years? Like Chris Pratt did break it out? No,
(13:28):
but but that but that's a popular thing now, you know,
when you're going from one planet to another, you have
to go into some kind of suspended animation for like
a hundred years, and you wake up and everybody you
know is long since dead and you're still twenty five
and thirty years old and you're on a new planet now,
I mean it takes a long time people again here.
Why would they just get in and say no, gotta
go by now they know Earth, we haven't changed that much.
(13:49):
Earth still looks the same now as it did a
whole bunch of years ago. There's more, you know, floral
carbon gas in the air, but it looks pretty much
the same. Why wouldn't they stop and say hi at
this point? Why would they just keep saying oh, no, no, no.
The minute we think we're getting seen by a person
slash quarterback, we need to we need to take off
and go back. Maybe there's some fear, Maybe they're shy,
but why are they coming here? They're going They're coming
(14:12):
all the way to Earth and they're shy. But maybe
they could come as fast as the Fano snap traveling
through the universe. You don't know. Then, why wouldn't they
show up more? Though? If they could get here, they
don't with a snap I mean, because they've they've been
showing up on the cover of the National Enquirer for years.
That's true, that's true. Maybe maybe the National Choir is
(14:34):
owned by Aliensay is still out there and he's ready
to take a take on his share in the world. Okay, alright, alright, maybe, okay,
I'll give you that that potentially Aliens could own the
Inquiry and they've been trying to get us used to
alien presence for the last thirty five years with stories
on the front cover. That's that's what you start to
become a little more accepting, because I think there needs
(14:56):
to be a healthy bit of skepticism in the world
of all things, right. I mean, I'm just gonna leave
it there because everybody will then tell me that I'm
I'm going into crackpot theories and and trying to read
into my words and just say, you know what, in life,
always read and think for yourself. Just so many questions
(15:17):
going on when it comes to aliens and what we see.
There's just so many questions. And you got the chickens,
the alien chickens now apparently so, but that would that
would probably be a big push, should be would you
find that's a marketing campaign like from Popeyes. And and
when they bought into you know, to push the chicken
wars to the next level. It would even I mean,
it would be better obviously if they all talk like
(15:40):
alf if you Howard Dean maybe an alien. If you
were if you were offered an alien chicken sandwich, would
you eat it? Or would you say no, I want
a regular chicken sandwich. Does it taste like chicken? Sure,
but it's an alien chicken? And no, no, the chicken
doesn't have to be shot tight shirt. Aliens may have
(16:01):
ways of just instantly making chicken sandwiches, do you think so?
They may just walk off the chip and just plot
between a bunt and go okay, I'm ready, and then boom,
suddenly you could just eat it. They don't say okay,
I'm ready, you know what? They say a little little
twitter and out about a Fresco. Mike gets swollen, doum.
You know what. Sometimes it's just one of those nights.
(16:22):
Uh call one triple a Farmers a switch you can
say for bundle on your auto insurance. I bet you
aliens stick. Maybe they're still scared of Mulder and Scully.

We are Farmers, written by Farmers, refinsurance changes and available
every state. Fox Sports Training on the Jason Smith Show
with Mike carbon I feel like we're doing an art
bell show. We're talking about us Hall all because Baker
(18:40):
Mayfield says he saw UFO last night. Now, look, this
has been a big topic of conversation all day today,
and I'll tell you my Twitter timeline is absolutely hysterical
now that we've been talking about. Now, Look, do I
believe that we're alone in the universe, No, obviously, I
think there's other places for some kind of life. You know,
is it always going to be life that is much
(19:01):
more sophisticated where all you have to do is think
things and they actually happen in front of you, and
you know, and and every aliens you know, they're wearing
high turtlenecks, Like what does fashion look like for rich
people in the seventies. I mean, it doesn't have to
be that way. Could could alien life be something simple
as some kind of amiba that slowly moves like like
an inch every hundred years on another planet shore I
(19:24):
see that. But to to think that something is is
so incredibly advanced, I mean, look, we're really advanced, or
it's been around for about four and a half a
billion years. I have to think if something was way
more advanced than us, and and and may that being
able to travel between dimensions and travel dimensions now something
I'm an Avengers movie and try and travel space as
(19:47):
far as you can and travel you know, twelve or
thirteen parsecs if you could travel that front, we would
know by now, and we would know by now that
there would be more because who knows the Earth is
four and half billion. There could be other places that
we're ten to twelve fifteen billion years old we hit,
We hit that airplane stuff and you couldn't we figured
out television streaming like five billion years ago. Man, Yeah,
you should see what we're on now. I have to
(20:08):
think that there would be more advancement and we would
actually have some kind of alien settling or or here,
and they would you know, try to get to know us,
because apparently they can live on a planet that is
very similar to ours unless their their system inside is
just you know, recycled air or whatever they is. Whether
the aliens are breathing as they're running things, you know,
I think they would have stopped by by now and
(20:29):
we we would actually would have met some maybe they've assimilating.
You just don't know. Don't you remember the movie V.
Don't you remember the movie V when they were actually
lizard people? So there, that's right, Yeah, that was Robert
was in there. Yeah, yeah, okay, it's you know that
Robert in one of those two like V was like
(20:50):
three Man V was like it in the in the
like right after Et came out to the you know,
there was you know, Et came from another planet. And
the sequel's gonna be Elliott going to eats planet and
he's gonna get sick and have to come back home.
That's gonna that was always a big rumor for E
T two Electric Boogaloo that that was gonna be the plot.
But like, I just I feel like if there were
(21:12):
aliens that could travel here, they would have and they
wouldn't come just to do it, just to do a
drive by and then leave, like my dad who comes
over every day for like ninety seconds. Everything, Okay, yeah,
you come on in. I got hey, Zoe Dick did
great on their test. Here, we got this. No, I
got milk in the car. I just want to make
sure everybody is okay. All right, Dad, We'll see you.
I mean, I gotta think they do more of than
a drive by by. Now, well, maybe they planted seed
(21:33):
Robert England and Michael Iron's side and Jane Badler, Faye
Grant and Mark Singer when when he wasn't in Beast Master.
Maybe maybe they're just watching Uh, what gets beamed out
into the universe and they're just seeing Avengers movies all
the time because they're on and they go, we can't
mess with these guys. Man. That Iron Man, dude, he
is something. But Captain Marvel, do you want to risk
(21:55):
that she's on Earth right now? Maybe she's another galaxy,
but if she's on Earth, we're screwed. Man. Are you
using that fantos guy? Man? He had all the had
all the stones and everything else. Man, We're not doing that.
Not There's no way. I mean say, look, could could
could we do what we wanted to do do with people
like Spider Man Shore? I mean, he's Spider Man. You
know we could do that. Captain America's got a shield, yea.
But some of those people, man, they're pretty powerful. Here's
(22:16):
not many has Guardians left all with new as Garden now,
but four when he's not fat, he's pretty tough to beat.
I don't know, we can mess with these people. Hey,
you leave Growth or alone? Wear that T shirt with
the fried chicken bucket proudly. Um. I've always wondered why
they didn't, you know, have InterPlaNet Janet become part of
the theme song for Captain Marvel, but I'll spare that
(22:39):
you of my other roominations. Uh and theories here. Well,
she travels like a rocket with her common team. And
there's never been a planet Janet hasn't seen. And that's
the bottom line. I scared you with that, knowing the
InterPlaNet general. No, no, I'm impressed, you know. And we
are fountains of pop culture random references. Uh, there's gotta
(23:00):
be a podcast or some way to monetize that for
the IR media empire, no question about it. So tonight
we saw the end of the first half in the
NBA season, and look, Phoenix has a big win over
Golden State and it has been some kind of first half. Look,
no Steph Curry tonight. So the Sun's win easy one,
(23:22):
and the Sun's finished the first half at twenty three
and eleven, and they are sitting very pretty right now
in the two spots in the West, and there are
three games behind the Jazz. Monty Williams has done a
phenomenal job with the Sons, and look, you can argue
that Chris Paul, the addition of him, I gotta I
got a big hot take on Chris Paul. We will
do that tomorrow night. But you can argue his edition
(23:43):
Look Phoenix is doing terrific things. They're one of the
three biggest surprises in the NBA this season. The seventies
six is finished the first half on top in the
East by a half game over the Nets. Doc Rivers
is showing up and look and bead taking this season,
jumping into being an m v P candidate, the overall favorite. Really,
as far as we go for m VP candidates, the
(24:05):
Sixers have become an even bigger surprise because they've gone
from being a team that, hey, there are a nice
team that wins around fifty games. Maybe they win their
first round of the playoffs, maybe not, but then they
go home in the second round. And now they've become
a team that's a huge competitor and one of the
six best teams in the league, one of the few
teams has a chance to win the NBA title. So
Doc Rivers clearly great job with the seventies Sixers. The
(24:27):
NBA Coach of the Year for the first half is
Tom Thibodeaux. And this is not me being Jason Smith
Knicks fan Nicks Nick Knicks, but just think about what
he's done for a second. Alright, if you if you're
saying these are the three biggest surprises in the NBA
this season, uh Doc Rivers has a couple of all
star huge All Star caliber players on the team in
one playing like an m v P. Monty Williams has
(24:48):
one has two huge All Star caliber players on the team.
Devin Booker is one of the best players in the NBA.
Julius Randall is good player, He's an All Star. But
clearly the roster he has with the Knicks not nearly
what you have. And some of the other coaches have
been able to win and win big. This is a
roster that is a game over five hundred and is
in the five spot now in the East. And this
(25:09):
has surprised everybody. Look, I told you beginning of the
season that Thiboteau is gonna have a quick path to
Coach of the Year because it's very much cut through
the clutter. If he makes the Knicks good, he's gonna
win because he's got the spotlight, he has the attention,
he has the storyline. And as much as we're talking
about the Nets and how great they have been and
their Big three, we're talking as much about the Knicks
because it's such a big surprise, and he's got them
(25:32):
doing two things. He's got them playing great defense, which
I knew was gonna happen, and he's actually winning more
than I thought he wouldn't at this point, because I
thought the first half of the season the Knicks would
have an okay record, they'd be under five hundred, but
they would be losing games close and they wouldn't be
really being a threat until later on in the season.
(25:53):
But here they are right now, They're over five hundred.
They're just as good as everybody else. I look, there
a half game behind the cell Sex all right, and
as well Celtics are could be a championship. They're a
half game behind the Celtics. They're ahead of the Heat
in the standings. All right. This is how good they've
played this season is this is where they are. And
Thibodeaux has done this, and he's identified players who can
(26:14):
be cornerstones on this team. Julius Randall, R. J. Barrett,
and Manuel Quickly. I told you he was gonna identify
two or three of these guys. You're gonna find out
two of these guys could be building blocks with the
Knicks after this season. And you've already gotten those three
guys in in Barrett and Quickly and and all Star
and Julius Randall. He's the coach of the year. All right,
Other coaches doing great jobs. I can't slight some of
(26:35):
the jobs they're doing. You know, Quinn Snyder's doing great
in Utah. But come on, man, you got Donovan Mitchel
and Rudy Gobert. I mean, seriously, you have a you
have a terrific team. You are built with two big
all stars. All these teams are built with two big
all stars the Knicks. And they have a couple of
nice players and a lot of tape and uh and
and glue and and and we're trying to cut and
paste things together. Those coach of the year seven and three,
(26:56):
last ten, best defense in the Eastern Conference overall. It
will will see how sustainable it is as their point
differential per game point five. That's right, they average one
oh four point nine points per game. One oh four
point four allowed. Good enough? Uh, and growth from r J. Barrett,
(27:17):
I think is is a huge deal because well, remember, uh,
there were a lot of folks after his rookie season
that we're wringing their hands, going, so what's r J.
Barrett gonna be so then the fact that he's had
the growth that he's had in his sophomore season, I
think is immense and speaks to the coaching staff. So yeah,
I'll give you the nod there. I obviously was banging
(27:39):
the drum from Monti Williams button. Beyond what he's done,
you you mentioned Chris Paul. That has a lot to
do with it, you know, and having another coach on
the court, uh as your leader certainly is a big deal.
You know, we we've looked at some of the other
would be contenders. They've fallen off the pace a little bit,
(28:00):
Doc Rivers, this is what we expected, Like he wins
the award if they do well in the second half, right,
and then they if they can win the Eastern Conference, uh,
coming out and you know regular season obviously because of
when awards are are voted upon, but you know that
would do it because everybody else you're you're looking at
going disappointment, disappointment. That guy could get fired, that guy's
(28:22):
are disappointed. So yeah, you're Tom Thibodeau. As much as
I'd love to argue against it, because well that would
be fun, I can't, I really can't I mean, he's
done a fantastic job, as we know, first half, getting
everybody fired up. Uh, And certainly they've bought in defensively,
which in the NBA, as we know, guys can do
(28:43):
for a stretch. Teams do for playoff runs, but generally
the regular season that's not where you see top notch
defense displayed for seventy two games. Not that they've gotten
to seventy two, but the point being, uh, that they
buy in for the regular season normally it's a all right,
let's grind this out as like, all right, second season
has begun and basketball has played in a completely different fashion.
(29:05):
You know, but you do you know it's not gonna
be all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows because certain things that
will happen have happened. Tom Thibodeaux and in all of
his stops he plays his players way too many minutes
and it gets difficult. I mean, look, Julius Randall played
every minute of a twenty point win over the Pistons,
you know, three nights ago. What why is why is
that happening? Right? You don't need that to happen. Eventually,
(29:27):
he does rub people the wrong way. He's he's one
of those coaches that is he someone that stays someplace
for seven or eight years. No, but he's someone who
stays a place for three or four years. It gets
a team going in the right direction. Yeah, And I'll
worry about those problems when they come up. Right now,
I'm just I'm just happy that the Knicks are actually
good and I can savor this for a week and
a half that they're over five hundred. I mean it really,
(29:49):
it was so improbable that anything like this could happen,
and to be sitting here like this, it's probably the
most improbable story of the first half. That the Knicks
are playing this Well, everything else you can kind of explain,
you know, I mean, because at least we knew, Okay,
the Sixers and Sons were gonna be good, you know
they're gonna be this good. But the Knicks, you look,
go look at everybody's prediction where the Knicks lottery, lottery, lottery,
(30:10):
lottery all the way through. Now it is a very
weird year where there are six great teams and everybody
else is the Knicks. Everybody else is five hundred. Al
right throughout the league. The next twenty teams are all
at five hundred and you have the bottom three or
four teams that are just terrible. So it really is
a big glut of teams in the middle. But when
you go from being a team that if you had
ten wins at this point, teams would say, hey, that's
(30:32):
not bad. Yeah. Yeah, clearly NBA Coach of the Year
and anybody that had the the over for Knicks wins
this year uh in the NBA season, you are feeling
really good right now, you are feeling awesome because the
over under was I think twenty five and the Knicks
are already at nineteen. You want to say that, try,
I think it was twenty four and a half. Yeah,
so you're feeling pretty good now that Nicks are gonna
was like fifteen in a row out of the All
(30:53):
Star Break. But you're feeling pretty good if you had
that bet that that is pretty impressive. The the only
other UH coach I think I might raise my hand
and say, hey, what do you think UH? Is Burrego
in it with in Charlotte with what they've been able
to do right Yes, they're not above five dred like
the Knicks, but now they're not as good right there,
(31:17):
and that LaMelo balls come in and been the player
that he has because I don't I don't think expectations. Uh,
he is grossly exceeded. Like everybody thought he could be
a good player, some highlight real stuff, but he's been
far beyond that thus far. So you got that, you
got Gordon Hayward rediscovering his shot, Graham PJ. Washington off
(31:40):
the bench. You've got some guys that can play. So
I think it's curious, but you know that that's an
also ran because let's face it, the headlines coming out
of New York are going to be much stronger. And
the NBA, while they may have been wringing their hands
over a lot of things, right, here's a bunch of
teams that had to do some postponements a game games.
Here's a bunch of guys that miss time either due
(32:02):
to injuries or due to COVID protocol. And you've navigated
through that. Having the Knicks be back and be relevant.
Come on, there's gotta be a couple of fist bumps
and and just general excitement in the offices there in
New York. Be sure to catch live editions of The

the Farmers Insurance Studios. And we are getting close to
the end of the regular season in college basketball. We've
got games rest of this week and then we have
the conference tournaments coming up next week. So we're getting there. Uh.
Tonight Michigan clinched the Big ten, big game of the
night in college hoops. They just crushed Michigan State sixty
(33:08):
to fifty second. Right, Wolverines that are now a basketball
school officially. Then they actually dropped the football program. Uh.
Part of what spurred them on tonight, according to the the
head coach Juwan Howard, was a video form Michigan State
star Draymond Green trash talking the Wolverines. He played the
video for them before the game to help motivate them
and boom, it's their first Big Ten title since. And
(33:31):
I'll tell you what, you have the Gonzaga as having
a phenomenal year of more than them coming up in
a second so was Baylor. But UH, for Juwan Howard
to take over from a cupboard that was not exactly
bear when John bee Line left, because he built a
pretty great, great program. Uh. To have this team this
good and to come in and put his own stamp
on the program, I think Juwan Howard's a coach the
(33:51):
year in college basketball. Oh. I don't think there's any
question about it. What he's been able to do. Uh.
And just racing through the schedule as they have been,
and the Big Ten has been fantastic, right Ohio State, Illinois,
Iowa and Garza as a potential Player of the Year.
You've got four teams in the top eight. It is
(34:14):
a season in which we have seen excellence and then
we've seen a lot of you know, that's kind of
a lot of the blue bloods have just been borderline, uh,
grossly inefficient would be the nice way to say. You know.
And the thing is is that even though we're going
in we're just getting ready to get into March. It's
it's gonna be the big month. We're gonna have a tournament.
(34:35):
It's gonna be extremely exciting. Uh It's I'll tell you this.
I think the tournament is going to be the big
uh conduit from COVID nineteen, from isolation into opening back
up of the country. As long as we keep doing
well and continuing to do the right things to avoid
COVID nineteen, We're gonna see the tournament. It's gonna feel
(34:56):
like a normal March. And then we're gonna get into
baseball season and f are gonna get to go to games.
You're gonna see a lot of fans of games. It's outdoors.
It's it's much easier to go to a baseball game.
It's easier to play baseball with COVID nineteen restrictions. I
think that this is now gonna be the big uh
leaping off point of us for Hey, we're starting to
get things back to normal, but we gotta gotta keep
doing well. Don't forget that the fight's not over. But
(35:18):
everything going on in Indianapolis and then uh Dallas adjacent, Yes,
the huge places for us here. Tell you that n
I T final between Duke and Carolina is gonna be
off the hook. But I don't, you know, I always
want to be creative and when I'm picking my brackets
for the college for for the tournament and everything. So really,
if you're trying to win and I want to win,
(35:40):
there's no way I don't pick three of my final
four being Gonzaga, Baylor, and Michigan because no matter what,
they're gonna be three of the top the top four seats. Yeah,
the other top four seed could be Houston, it could
be somebody else, but they're gonna be three of the
top four seats and they're by far and away better
than everybody else in college basketball. Now, yeah, it's one
(36:00):
game anytime. Could these teams get upset, Sure, But am
I really going to pick a team and say, hey,
you know what, I think so and so can get
through it and they can beat Gonzaga and get to
the final. No, I mean, and I don't think I'm alone.
I think you're gonna see the vast majority of of
of people pick those three of those four teams in
the final four, and whoever wins your office pool tournament's
gonna be the one that is lucky enough to get
(36:21):
that fourth team that gets all the way through and
gets all the way to the final four. Because really,
if you're picking against these teams right now, you're you're
just gonna wind up losing because they are just that
much better than everybody else. Well, either that or you're
then out thinking the room, which is always a dangerous proposition.
But that's also on that ledges where geniuses stand, Oh wow,
(36:42):
did you borrow that from somebody? Just come up with that?
Because that's pretty good. It's me. I like that. Out
on the ledgers, genus stand, I like that. That's a
good You gotta be away from the pack, right, That's
why the aliens appear to only one or two at
a time. Have you not been paying attention to everything
I've said tonight? Okay? No, I I get that, and
I I I okay, I'm Livia, I I like you.
(37:07):
I always one team that that that could crack the party.
I mentioned them and this, you know, this is tough
for me because they are the rival, uh the fighting
a line. I they handled Michigan the other day and
getting good work out of their guards. Likewise, Bob Huggins
in West Virginia. You got three guards that that have
(37:31):
been very good for him all season long. Yes, you
have your prohibitive favorites, and like as much as you
don't want to bet chalk, at least two of them
have to find their way through your bracket. But you
know what, we haven't gotten into full bracketology yet. You
know why because most of the teams were normally talking
about are gonna be stacked in the n I t
Are we gonna have the companion bracket? Yeah? That's gonna
(37:52):
be a really tough thing because the you know, you're
you're two and three seeds aren't gonna be Duke Carolina, Kentucky,
you like, you know, Michigan State, like we're used to
your two and three scenes. Are gonna be Alabama and
West Virginia and Iowa and Ohio State and Craighton. I
mean these more more research you're gonna have to go
on here. Man, It's it's really gonna be something. This
(38:15):
is in Diego State? Good? Are they be a crazy
ass tournament this year? Are you LOYALA? Chicago is gonna
be back in the dance? Are you kidding? Little Chicago
coming coming back? Man? Yeah, they're gonna be a big
seed like LOYALA. Chicago is gonna be like a four five. Yeah,
Oh my goodness, it's it's gonna be that kind of tournament.
