(00:51):
show that you know, Mike and I are best friends
and we're close.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
But I have to do my job as a.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Host sometimes and sometimes it gets difficult, and I got
to ask the very difficult questions. Yeah, I mean, you know,
sometimes I got you got to ask, and sometimes you
got to ask with people that you work with. So
I have to start tonight and you have to be
honest with me, because you know, where's our friendship if
we're not honest. Where were your brothers earlier today? And
are they trying to sell any sort of lawn maintenance

(01:18):
merchandise out of the back of a truck somewhere in
the Chicago area allegedly?

Speaker 4 (01:24):
No, that would take way too much effort for something
you don't know about. One thing my brothers and I
uh pride ourselves on is we're only getting involved with
something if we're really gonna immerse ourselves. Right, If you're
gonna bet the horses, you go and do a lot
of research, you talk to people around the stables, you
do your handicapping classes, all of that stuff. I don't

(01:47):
know anything about farm farm equipment, but they still right
and tractors and lawnmowers or whatever. That's not that's not it,
and that's not their thing either, So how do It's
not an easy fence?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
How do you know what?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Here's the thing? If you knew was their thing, that
would make them easy to catch. But it's but if
you don't know what's their thing, it makes them unaccusable.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Well, I mean, then they've really done a good job
of hiding it. For nearly half a century. It's a
whole other secret life that my brothers have been leading.
On the weekends, they drive out and they go find
their John Deere tractor. This is the giant lawnmowers. Can
I take a turn on that? It's like, well, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Hey, Mike, do they think their tractors are sexier?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Well?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
You know what? It is a theme song around the house,
all right.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I mean I just want to know, you know this
is this is you know, this has harmon. This has
the family harmon written all I'm sorry, it has a
family harmon written all over.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I mean, look, we wear suits now, yeah, yeah, but
doesn't maybe you wore suits to take the tractors. I
mean look, just in case people don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
No, I was gonna say, you really probably should explain
what Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
Yeah, Jason's accused of Harvey's family is still the just
right off the jump, It's like, wait, what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (03:04):
The latest in an endless week for the Chicago Bears Today.
We'll get to the Bears coming up in a few minutes.
There was a burglary at Soldier Field that was discovered
a few hours ago that they found stolen were ride
along Mower's and John Deere Gator utility vehicles that belonged

(03:24):
to a contractor who works with the Chicago Bears. So
all this lawn equipment that was stolen, which is you know,
right along Mower's and you tee and John Deer utility
vehicles were stolen in the in an early morning or
late night situation. The protective fence line was ripped off
its foundation to get the equipment. Estimated value of the

(03:47):
theft and damage is one hundred thousand dollars. No one's
been arrested. Police are investigating. Welcome back, my friends to
the week that never ends for the Chicago Bears. And maybe,
I mean maybe if I can help point you know, listen,
if some thing has to happen and uh, you know
your brothers have to come in for questioning, they got
to come in for questioning.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I think that's how it goes well.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I mean, look, whenever there's a big event, right, lots
of stuff, a lot of activity uh going on, the
other part of town is gonna be uh open for business,
shall we say, Right, you see a bunch of uh.
It's why people keep an eye out on the scanners.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Right.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
If all the police units are being called to one
area of town. What happens everybody else has to watch
just a little closer, because now there's opportunity. Same thing here.
The building is burning inside outside. Yeah, you might be
able to go get some of some free stuff.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
The harm and family.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I could just see Harm and his brothers.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
You know.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Don't turn the tractors on. People are gonna know.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
And you're riding them very silently, like pushing them down
the street.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Be very very quiet.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Silencers on the engines.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Well, this is where bring in.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
No.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
They they just push them to try to make sure
we don't have to turn the engines on to take them.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
To push one without the engine on harmon criuses because
they're they're silent, right, they creep up on you really fast.
You just need a little bit bigger, bigger engine in there. Uh,
and then we we can get in under cover of night.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So we have Justin Fields doesn't want to be coached.
Then says, well wait a minute, don't twist my words.
Even though he said doesn't want to be coached. The
defensive coordinator is fired. There was a raid on Hallis Hall,
then there wasn't a raid. Peter Tillman led the raid,
that he didn't lead the raid, and now lawn equipment
was stolen from soldier field.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
This is do you think this actually happened or are
they just throwing this out here? So it's just the
level of absurdity, absurdity that you stop asking questions about
why the defensive coordinator quote resigned and why you accepted
said resignation if it legitimately had a health issue, all
of those things, or the Justin Fields, I mean he hugged,

(05:56):
he hugged everybody yesterday. I mean, everything's good, right.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
I can't take any more questions about Justin Fields. Can
we go?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Can we can we leak that to the press that
people stole all those lawns because Harmon's either that or
you're either see here's the thing is either your brothers
I strike you, they strike me as hey, they can
go get it, or it would be like that plot
and Goodfellas where one of them's on the inside, like
one of your brother's a security guard and he gets
a job there for like a couple of months and
then sets it up where one night, you know, your
other brother comes in and and it's it seems pretty easy,

(06:25):
but they did have to break stuff down, so I
know it wasn't an inside job. I mean you made
it look like an inside job, and that's what happened.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Yeah again, if they've been living double lives. I mean,
as far as I'm aware, their jobs are at a
bank and at a commercial real estate.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Far as you're aware, that's the wow.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
I mean, look, as far as you're aware, Well, if
we're gonna throw alleged le's on a bunch of stuff,
I might as well throw that caveat out there. It's
not like I've just sat and watched them work like
my brother works them. But every time I call, they
say he's out of the office. But like for me, right,
there's no hiding. I'm yelling out the radio four hours
a night behind the microphone, either from my home or

(07:03):
sitting next to and throwing things at you. Right, there's
no hiding. I am what I am everybody else. Hey man,
I don't know what your jobs are. I've had people
in my life I couldn't tell you what they did
under exciting security measures and other.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Things I don't know for all was never a cop.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Wow. That would cut me to the quick. Maybe you
know now I have to wont I mean maybe he
was security for the Bears.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Maybe he just dressed up like a cop.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
He was security for the Bears. Oh, he got feep.
Kept stealing stuff all the time, he got fired.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
He remember all those game game used jerseys we had
laying around.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
What the hell do you think those games?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
How do you think we outfitted the kids with all
those Bears helmets?

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Your dad was like, who was the who was the
guy that stole?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
What was he seen stealing at the Super Bowl a
few years ago?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Yeah? Remember they had to go get it in Mexico.
Glazier was a big.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Part of Oh that's right, Glazier led the sting on that.
That's what I forgot about that.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
That's right, Officer Glazier.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
It's a man of many hats.

Speaker 1 (08:13):

Jason, you walk in the Harmon's house in Chicago or
where his parents live in Florida, and every family portraits
is just in Dicka sweaters.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
May or may not been a popular outfit in the
fall back when we were children.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah, sure, sure I can see where that with the
mustache and the and the and the.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Sunglasses, I'm ready for Halloween. That might be the outfit. Uh,
that might be the outfit for for the end of October. Here.
It just might become a regular thing because they need
Ditka back to get back, the fire to get back.
I mean, people are asking this on Twitter. Where was
Swollen Dome and all the Chicago affiliates I got friends, We'll.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Have more on this game and maybe more in this
story if we can. If I can bring Hey, if
I can break this story wide open on the show,
I will do it.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I mean, this will be a show getting stuff done.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Hey, look at that big, big caper solved by Radio
Hot solved caper from two thousand miles away.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I mean, I always had people that said I could
get things done for you, or I can get your stuff.
I don't remember it ever involving talks of lawnmowers or
any of that.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
The subheadline is gonna say, turns out it was radio
Partner's family members.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
I gotta click on that. I gotta read that on TA.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Being with the guy in the place. They thought it
would help change the narrative of the team. Instead, it
just got worse.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Oh boy.

Speaker 1 (09:53):

(10:15):
tons of NFL to get to give you all our
big picks for the week and the weekend. Coming up
a very big baseball headline. Make it not one, not two,
but three home runs All rise.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Swing on there.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
It goes to right, hit us high, hit us bar
heard us time his third home run of the game.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
It's only the seventh inning. I don't know if we'll
get up again. So there it is.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yankees Radio Network, John Sterling on the call, Aaron Judge
in a season where the Yankees are a couple of
days away from being eliminated from playoff contention, Judge with
three home runs in the game, first Yankee ever to
have multiple three home.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Run games in the same season.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Yankees win it tonight easy over the Diamondbacks, seven to one.
But this underscores just the future of the Yankees. And
if I'm not I want to want to paint this
as bleak, but I want to paint this is a
time of change, because I've told her from the beginning,
the Yankee team you're gonna see next year is gonna
be unrecognizable from the Yankee team that's on the field

(11:23):
right now. Right You're gonna you're gonna see a new
new manager who knows if Brian Cashman is going to
be able to survive. If I can convince everybody that
it's not my fault and player wise, you watch what
the turnover can be. I'll tell you right now. I'll
tell you right now. I guarantee that this is if
you said to me, if you put a gun to
my head and said, or if your brother's grabbed me
and we're gonna beat me up and said, hey, you
got to tell me something. If you said to me,

(11:46):
what what Yankees are gonna be Yankees next year? Right now,
you say this for a bunch of teams I can say,
even for the Mets, who's gonna be on the Mets? Okay,
well next year, well, they're not gonna trade Alonzo. They'll
have Alonzo. They're gonna have Lindor, they're gonna have Alvarez.
They're gonna If you said to me, what Yankees could
I guarantee you will be on the opening day lineup?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
All right?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
The starting lineup of opening Day. The only position players
I can give you or Aaron Judging, Labor Torus, that's it.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
All the other guys are older, they are they could
wind up getting dealt they might wind up getting brought back.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Gen Carlos Stanton.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
They're gonna try some way, I'm sure to try to
get out of his contract because he's been diminishing returns
since he came to the Yankees, and he's injured all
the time. And so the only guy I can guarantee,
the only two guys guarantee you in the Yankee lineup
for opening day Labor Taurus, Aaron Judge.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Those are the only guys I can tell you say yes,
they're gonna be there. Gartt Cole, I'm pretty sure is
gonna be there. Look, the guy's gonna be Saw Young
Finalists this year and he's got a big contract. So yeah,
Garrit Cole, but you tell position players, those are the
only guys I can guarantee. That's how much change the
Yankees are gonna have next year.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Well, le Mayhew's still gonna be there. He's still got
several years on his contract and he's making million.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
You ain't anymore, man, No, no, no, But what are
you gonna do.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
You're just gonna say we're gonna eat sixty million dollars.
Nobody you traded him to anybody. Nobody's taking that salary
on you. I'm not saying he's in the lineup every day.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
But hey, listen, Yankees, Yanke. Yankees are able to trade. Uh.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
The Mets are able to trade Verlander and and Sures
here and eat a lot of money. I'm not saying
the Yankees aren't gonna eat money in this situation, but
there's gonna be a lot of new players and I
can see them. Can you eat money to trade le
Mehe yes, you absolutely can. You can eat some of that.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
I have no doubt that there's great turnover. There has
to be, right, it's the old do something even if
it's wrong. I mean, the first thing you have to
do is bring in a shaman, a medicine man, somebody
to try to keep the stars that you're paying a
lot of money healthy, right, Aaron Judge thirty five home run,
seventy RBI. Great, he played in a hundred games.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Right.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
So now it's John Carlos Stanton. If he's there and
he's part of your squad, can he play every day?
He played a lot of money to bring in from
the pitching side of things, Carlos Rodan, can he stay
healthy or is that just money that you're burning in
a dumpster that's floating down the river. I mean, you know,
from the position side, one of the guys you thought

(14:14):
was gonna take a slot and Domingus had to have surgery.
When's he gonna be ready in theory pretty early in
the year in theory. But yeah, it's it's complete overhaul.
And that's how you justify keeping your job. If you're
cash man, Hey, I need to make a lot of
change because because I mean, this is how I keep

(14:35):
my job. I mean, you keep continuity, and I mean
its gonna be a lot of change around here, something's
got to stay the same. I mean Boone's not walking
through that door again.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
I mean he's walking walking out of the door and
not coming back.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
You got track out. He thought it was a revolving door. No, no, no,
it locked behind him and turned into a solid wall.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Wait wait, let me back in. I forgot some stuff.
Now Otani left stuff.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
He's not coming back to get omailing to you.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Just send us your forward to address. We'll send you.
Don't worry about it. Exit.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
How about a Fresca exit swollen dome. Just watch change
eating money trades. That's what the Yankees have this offseason.
It's going to be something tonight, Joe. Brought to you
by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Get
a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
ATV and more all your protection in one plays. Bundle
and save at Progressive dot com. Well, coming up next,

(15:23):
we start our big football Friday weekend. We got big
picks from the NFL and a bit of announced from
college football, not involving Colorado.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Big story, big stuff involving Colorado. How about that?

Speaker 4 (15:39):
That's just crazy?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Here, Jason and Mike and maybe we get Harmon's brothers
on the line.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
That's coming up next Fox.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My bas
friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Yeah, what is it?

Speaker 3 (16:01):
What is this song? Tight Shirt?

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Taking it back to nineteen ninety nine? Go Tight Shirt?

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yeah, the shout out to Harmon's brothers. This one is
she thinks mont Tractor sexy.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
My younger brother also said he needed to get back
what the city is stolen from him.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Wow, he's going on for an eye.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Talking about taxes and some of the policies of the
last several years.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
That's exactly what the bad guys saying in the movies. Wait,
why are you doing this? Because I'm taking back what
the city didn't give me.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
I'm pretty sure you end up in jail for that.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I'm pretty sure that was the plot of the Taking
of Pelham one, two three, with the remake with Travolta
and Denzel.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Of course, he's currently in Louisiana. They're going to see
Arkansas LSU tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Hmmm, so stuff is missing from Soldier Field today, your
brothers are about as far away from Chicago as they
could be. No, everything is fine here. Everything is fine.
Nothing is a brilliant job. Well, you know what the
other is if you're really building the narrative. You know,
when we were growing up, and this is always something
that we've never really been able.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
To get a good answer on.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Back in the nineteen hundreds.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Yeah, yeah, back of the nineteen hundred. So all those
years ago, my mom wouldn't let us mow the lawn
or do anything like most kids, like, all right, that's
one of the chores you're gonna do for us. It
was all about how clean and whatever. And then she'd
allow us to have friends over and play whiffle ball
or play football or run over like idiots where there's
giant holes and we're tearing it up. Yet we couldn't

(17:31):
mow it because it might not have been straight. So
there you go.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
That was my younger brother responding, just saying, oh yeah, yeah,
but oh look he got to he worked a little
dark early in it, just saying, yeah, the week of
the Bears, dot dog, they're as far away south as
they can come out. Don't give me no l by

(17:59):
you from.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
These things are a lot of money to get up.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
Man, it's really loud. You can't call me now, Jason.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
I'm picturing Pat Tillman, not Pat Tillman, whatever his name is.
Peanut Tilman, Oh, Peanut Tilman.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Chase guy, yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Chasing them, trying to punch the gear out from behind.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
With a Tommy gun.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Oh boy.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Uh so yeah, we got football coming up in a second.
But we asked some history to tell you about two
big things. We had to get to here for a
couple of seconds because we saw we've just seen two
big things in Major League Baseball tonight number one. Finally, Okay, everybody, yes,
Ronald m'cunya. Now you can sit here and say look
at it. Yes, now, finally he is a forty forty guy,
just the fifth player ever with a forty forty season,

(18:44):
hitting his fortieth home run tonight against the Nationals. Now,
he's really a forty sixty guy. But forty forty is
you know, that's how it goes. Forty forty sixty doesn't
sound as sexy. It's like that he's twenty nine seventy five.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, but he's the.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Fifth forty forty player ever, joining up Fonso Soriano, who
was the last guy to do it back in two
thousand and six, a Rod, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco only members.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Of the forty forty club.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
And then we had history just moments ago, standing ovation
at Dodger Stadium for Freddie Freeman, who just collected his
two hundredth hit of the season for the Dodgers, and
really quick Frostburg has has a trivia question for us.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Go ahead, Frostburg, what do you.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
Got Who was the last Dodger to record two hundred hits?

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Wow, last Dodger for two hundred hits? Last Dodger two?

Speaker 4 (19:33):
If you're oh, elma co, No, just kidding.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Okay, okay, okay, hang on, and you're asking.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Me you're googling it? No, no, I can hear you typing.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Buddy, I'm not typing it. That's Harmon typing.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
He's trying. He's got it. He's trying to figure exactly
where his brothers.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
The easiest way to get rid of a tractor that's
emblazoned with a team logo.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
On, Hey, Mike, can you help me?

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I'm trying to google I had to take a tractor
over the border and nothing is coming up. If you're
asking me, I'm gonna I'm gonna go detective on you here.
If you're asking me, I think it's got to do
with the fact, because that's the Because I'm a Met
fan and who played for the Dodgers and Mets as
a star, I'm gonna say, Mike Piazza, you are incorrect.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Oh, one hundred hits.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Did he have a two hundred hit season?

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Probably not?

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Never's Okay, two hundreds a lot, man, I gotta look
that up now, Okay, hang on.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
It's Adrian Beltray two thousand and four.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Really wow, well, because I know he had what like
one hundred extra base hits, right that was like the
forty eight fifty one or whatever the hell he had.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
And then we'll open it up a little bigger here.
The last Dodger first baseman to hit two hundred home
two hundred hits was Steve Garvey, that is correct, nineteen eighty.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Working with those fore arms back in the day, he
had a perfect swing.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Steve Garvey.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I really wish Steve Garvey and Jim Rice and David
Wright honestly had the three perfect swings because they just
wing down on the ball, the way they're writ the
way they're the top wrist comes over the next one,
the power they generate. They're perfect swings. They were, And
I wish I could have swung like that, but I'm
not had this big long looping it. The one I hit,
the one I hit, the ball hit afar, but I
had too much of a bit of a wind up.

(21:14):
I couldn't make a compact. But just the way you
see them swing down on the ball and it just
fly off the bat. Those three guys are the best
three things I've ever seen. Now, since we're on this topic,
why don't we open this up. But he just celebrated
a birthday earlier in the week, turning thirty four, Gary Freeman,
let's open this up. If you see my brother the

(21:36):
attractor somewhere in the deep sound.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Yeah, at Swollen Dome. If there's a guy with a
number thirty three jersey chase, and if.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
The guy on the tractor's wearing a Cutler jersey, but
then it's definitely my brother.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
If they're wearing a uh, you know, Halloween's coming up.
If they're wearing a mask of one of the presidents,
please let me know it's.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
A John Dylinger mask, the guy in a Michael Meyers
mask and a Jake Cuttler.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Sure he's driving it. Yeah, that's a harmon.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
That, right, he is dressed like al Capone.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Oh boy, oh.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Boy, next level stuff right there? All right, all right,
go ahead, But but this this really goes to something
we talk about legacy history, all of that fun stuff.
Three straight years, one hundred and eighty hits, one hundred
and ninety nine. Now he goes to two hundred for
Freddie Freeman, which takes him to twenty one oh three
for his career, and he just turned thirty four. Now
I wonder if we don't have to leave the three

(22:36):
thousand hit door cracked open. Yeah, no, definitely, given what
he's done the last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Yeah, well, especially now, especially now that the designated hitter
has been approved of the National League. Now this gives
a few, maybe a couple of more years to guys
where they might not have had that before, because look,
Freddy Freeman eventually is going to be a He's going
to be like Edgar Martinez, like he could be one
of those guys in the in the year. He's not
even gonna play the field. He's just gonna hit, right,

(23:04):
I mean, guy should care his body really well. He's
always has been that guy. Look when you're thirty four
and you're still playing like an MVP, that's something. But
that opens the door to that, Hey, uh, can we
can we can get somebody else to play first base
if this means he can be an MVP TITLESO yeah,
three or four years Yeah, sure, sure, meat Alonzo, Sure

(23:25):
for Alonzo, for James Outman, We'll do.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
It right now, We'll get it done.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
No, no, I can I can see that For Freddy Freeman.
I mean he's got to be able to keep up
a pretty torrid pace, Like you're talking about one hundred
and eighty hits a year. Sure, and that's a lot
of hits as you get to be thirty five, thirty six,
thirty seven. But we've seen guys do it in in
LA for a long time. Man, I think I think
we do have to crack that door open a little.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Well, he's also stolen the most bases of his career,
so he's actually fond the fountain of youth.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
Yeah, he has, he has.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
And oh, by the way, Mike Piazza in nineteen ninety
seven two hundred and one hits.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Los Angeles Dodgers good for two hundred and one hits, a.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Lot of opposite field hits. Yeah, I've never seen a
guy hit a ball out of a glove like like
Mike Piazza.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Now, but let me say this before we move on
to what's trending. We get to our first of our picks.
Here in the NFL, Acunya is going to win the
MVP because forty forty season just cuts through the clutter.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Right.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
You can say, hey, two hundred season is great, but
you can say, here's a guy as team won the
division going away, and he's the fifth forty forty guy ever,
that's gonna win the MVP for you, right, and that's
Ronald Lecunya. Now is when I tell you things are
gonna get interesting for the Braves, like this is a
World Series or Bussies.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
They should win the World Series this year.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
They've been really, really smart the last few years when
when a young player comes up, they signed him to
a big, long term contract. We don't have to pay
you now, but we're gonna pay you now to give
you money for the first four or five years of
your contract, and then we're gonna make the money back
the last five or six years, right because Acuna signed
like a ten year, one hundred million dollar contract like
four years ago when they thought he was gonna be great.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Okay, so we got paid a lot early.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
He's making like forty million dollars before he would even
make you know, probably fifteen or you know, ten or
twelve million. So that's been great, But just what because
do you really think do you really think coming off
a year where he's winning the MVP and whatever the
Braves wind up doing, he's gonna come to spring training
and say I'm good with my contract. He's gonna come

(25:22):
to spring training and say, yep, Nope, he's gonna say
I've outperformed my contract and something's got to be done
because now it's okay, wait a minute, Yeah I made
that money, but I've been great for that entire time.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
So the Braves have.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Been able to reap the rewards of me playing really
really well and not paying me while I'm doing it.
Now Here, I am entering my prime where I could
If Ronald Cooney became a free agent right now, what
kind of deal would he get? I mean, you're talking
about a guy twenty five years old, twenty six years old.
They would get they would get the biggest deal for
someone not named Otani. And now he's gonna come back
next year and say, yeah, I'm good at seventeen million.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
No no no, no, no, no, no, this.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Is gonna be it. Just why this season is going
to be great. And then the off season for the Braves.
Do you really think that's gonna that's where the headache
is gonna start?

Speaker 3 (26:05):
For Atlanta?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Just watch three more years at seventeen million per and
at the end of twenty twenty six, he'll still be
twenty eight years old. And then there's two years of
the club option, which are great either he makes seventeen
million or there's a ten million.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Dollar by out. I love that.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
That's just funny because I mean, you know this goes
south for so many of these other deals, but signs
so young. Look, now it's time to get creative and
get into some fuzzy math because you still have several
other guys you haven't paid yet in this process to
go through. But yeah, I don't expect there to be

(26:46):
much much of an issue here, but it does make
for an interesting wrinkle here. As we get into the
final couple weeks of the regular season, looking ahead, based
on that dollar amount seventeen million, do you pay that
bay a fifth starter?

Speaker 6 (27:02):
That?

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Hell you pay an opener that anymore? But wait, but
we paid you early. Yeah, you know that's great, and
I delivered for you and I delivered. But this is
this is how, this is how work is done now.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
But if you invested well in mutual funds, you made
that much more money because we took care of you.

(27:53):
Acunya forty forty Freddie Freeman two hundred hits. Yeah, and
how the Fund's gonna start for the Braves.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Get ready.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
But looking ahead at a very big weekend in the NFL,
let's talk about the biggest game of the weekend, all right,
and nothing has changed. I said it on Monday, and
it the same is true today. The game of the
week in the NFL because of the stakes involved for
each team that loses, it's the Chargers and the Vikings.

(28:21):
Well well no, yeah, well the Vikings could then trade
Kirk Cousins. Okay, the Patriots and the Jets still the
game of the week at the interest level, and Belichick
and the Jets and all of this, but mainly it's
about what's going to happen to each team if they lose.
The game has become the season way more for the

(28:42):
Patriots than it has come for the Jets. But it's
still big. There's still big ramifications for the Jets. But
as far as both teams, hey, the season's here, the
season's over now. The Jets lose, they fall to one
and two. If you said the Jets would be one
and two after their first three games, you would say,
even with Aaron Rodgers, you would say, yeah, okay, Bills, Cowboys, Patriots,
all right, one and two is about where they should be.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Okay, so here one and two. But for the Patriots,
this is it all right?

Speaker 1 (29:06):
You had Marlon Humphrey questioning that you just heard the
uh the SoundBite on you here playing all the time
on the promos for the odd couple, saying as Belichick
the genius is Tom Brady the genius. The ball is
starting to roll downhill in the anti Bill Belichick. This
is gonna be it for him. We told you a
week ago. This season starts out bad. It's gonna be
ugly all year, and you know Belichick's gone at the end.

(29:28):
We could tell look what I mean, the show should
be ahead of the curve with Jason Smith and Mike Carmen.
They lose to the Jets and it's we can't even
beat the Jets. We beat bleeping fourteen times in a row.
How do we do it? And you're oh to three
and there's no answers. You're the worst team in the division.
You're you're streaming towards a high pick in the NFL draft.
Maybe Belichick's whole plan. He hasn't told any buddies We're

(29:48):
gonna tank and get Caleb Williams and everything's gonna be
wind up great, but this is gonna be it. If
they stink and they fall to oh to three, that's
it and things get ugly really really fast. Matt Jones
and Belichick they're gonna be headlines. Mac Jones gonna say
things about the offense. Belichick's gonna say things. He's already
trolling Zach Wilson this week, so you know he feels

(30:09):
the pressure to win a game this weekend. This has
become the season for the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Well, you've had a couple of years where it's been
a five hundred squad and you can still celebrate Belichick
the coach and separate him from Belichick to GM, and
now that's kind of starting to morph. I don't I
don't know that you can excuse it and separate those anymore.
And certainly Robert Kraft and all the brass there right

(30:36):
his family and anybody else that's got to say it
gets in his ear. You know, it's the all right,
when are we finally going to make some headway? You know,
when we've got reports that one of your big free
agents signing has a knee that could blow up at
any time. That was the quote that you know, you're
you're not looking at another year of trying to grind

(30:58):
out nine and eight, steal an extra game and maybe
get to ten and seven and back into the playoffs
in a crowded AFC. No, it's it's now that that
point where every move, every misthrow, every missed opportunity is analyzed,
not just on hey, is Mac Jones just a guy
or less than a guy? It's the all right, Bill

(31:19):
Belichick isn't able to get it done. And certainly, look
it's low hanging fruit, you know right now, you know
to kick a guy while he's well, he's down because
for two decades everybody had to watch him run rough
shot over them. So certainly you're gonna see more of that.
But this is the week when you've had a fourteen
game streak. You got Edelman joking about media appearances and

(31:41):
everything else of what an easy run it's been. Yeah,
this is one that carries so much more weight.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
And now for the Jets, before I give you my
pick for the Jets, they fall the one into there's
a reason why they haven't signed another quarterback yet. And
just think about this, right, they always Zach's job at
Zach job, And yes, he's the right guy right now.
They could have brought in another quarterback, but they know
the guy they need to bring in is gonna be
somebody who potentially could start for them. So it's a

(32:09):
bigger move than saying who's unemployed and let's go sign
them and bring him in. They're giving Zach Wilson a
chance to win this job, and Sunday is high noon
for him.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
If he has.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Another crap tastic game like he had last year, when
the Jets realize we need another quarterback and they went
out and got Aaron Rodgers, by Tuesday, they will have
a new quarterback and it's gonna be this guy is
taking over at some point for Zach Wilson because they're
not gonna let this season go down the tubes because
it's they put invested too much into this say okay,
well we'll wait until Aaron Rodgers comes back next year.

(32:42):
They've been waiting for a reason to not get a quarterback,
and if Zach Wilson doesn't show the improvement on Sunday,
then they're gonna go out and get him and it's
gonna be a big thing. But I will say this
in breaking this game down, you can scheme, and you
can own one team for as long.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
As you can.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
But the bottom line is the Jets have a better roster.
The Jets defense is incredibly well, is incredibly well matched
for this game, well versed for this game. They're not
playing the Cowboys. This is a really bad Patriots offense,
and you can scheme all you want, but this Jets
defense is incredibly talented.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
They'll be the difference. Jets win twenty to sixteen. Look
at you.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I could I could have wagered with ty Shirt and
Frostburg that you were gonna make that pick, just because I.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Could have bet on what bet I was going to make.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
How about Bett, It's like an inception kind of thing,
thing with the guy in the place looking for Look
the offense. Both offenses are going to be trash. So
it's Ken Belichick scheme it up to get one more
mistake out of Zach Wilson. I say, yes, they win
a close one, and we hit the under, which is
sitting at thirty five and thirty five and a half.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
You might get down to twenty five by.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
It'll be fifteen straight for the Bats.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Twelve six, your final twelve six.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
We got more NFL picks coming up two other big
games on the way, Fox
