Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello and welcome inside final hour tonight to the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Too loud
for Daddy. Today, we're live from the Tirack dot Com
studios tyrec dot com. I'll help you get there. An
unmatched election, fast free shipping, free road as a protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers tirac dot com the
way tire buying should be So yeah. Wow? Is that
(00:52):
for the PAC twelve? Sorry to getting down. Wow, it's
a final the end of the PAC twelve. The PAC
twelve is closed. We have closed the Pack twelve. The
padlock is on the door. The door has been locked.
The key has been broken off in the lock and
has been thrown to the bottom of a lake. The
pack twelve is closed. Is it a dark Scottish lake?
There is no more Pac twelve. The lock nest monster
(01:12):
has swallowed the key. So now you have to get
the broken key from inside the lock nest monster. Get out,
bring it somehow, glue it to the inside of the
key that's already in there, or just go get you know,
go get wirecutters. Well, no, you have stings.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Start singing the beginning of Synchronicity two now, and that'll
allowed NeSSI to come to.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
The surface and take that key back. What do you got, Frostberg?
The Pac twelve might be dead. Yeah, your tweet lives forever.
Long live the tweet. Yeah, no, still watching my tweet
of Oregon will smoke Washington and win in a route
go viral breeze right past fifty eight though, uh yeah,
(01:55):
watching it, just keep going fifty nine already of this tweet.
Hey on social media, love point out when you're wrong.
They love you got a prediction wrong? Oh, I love it,
love it, love it love I mean one of the
best gamblers. Yeah, but you added Washington football. Guess what
my jackass partner picked against you? Guys, ah, Like, like,
(02:15):
what was that all about?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
An attempt to make it go viral. Aler, I'm gonna tweet.
I'm gonna tweet it. Northwestern.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Hey, my partner never thought you could upset Perdue tonight
in basketball.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
He has your partners still uh still is really upset
with the administration for their handling of the football the scandal.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
You can do that. You have warn any purple in
a year you've been prep true, that is absolutely true.
Know when's last time you were purple?
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Earlier this week in the Northwestern jacket on to start
the week.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Did you yes? Did you.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Really?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Because I don't remember that purple shorts were last week?
Purple shoes, No, quite regularly, No purple purple shoes. Purple shoes, man,
I have several pair man, No, you know, but you've.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Not worn that. I know you've worn them before. We
haven't worn them a long time. Categori'm still training at them.
You don't even wear his gear anymore. He wants to
several days last week? You bet that's that was this
coincidence I did. He wants to give back is the palma,
that's just coincidencest. Purple glasses, oh.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Man, big hits man, But the packser is shoe Prince Man,
Bo Jackson, Shoe.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Prince Man, Patchigan. Uh. The PAC twelve is over. And
I've always been very puzzled by the popularity of this
song in certain circumstances, because I'm seeing people who are
in Vegas tonight for the PAC twelve Championship game. Oregon
beats Washington. Yes, I said Oregon in a route did
not work out that way, And now I'm being reminded
(03:50):
of it by scores of tens of thousands of people
telling me your rock.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Well, wait till all the Washington Oh yeah, back online
and they take my teat wait all the precincts report
in sure, no, exactly by the time we come back Monday.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I mean that's one hundred thousand Clinton. Yeah, I'm a minimum.
I'm just I'm just gonna I'm just gonna blame Oregon
that you blew it, didn't show up, you blow it.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
I analyzed the game right, you didn't play well, it's
your fault.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
But some people who have been covering the game, uh
in Vegas. I again, it's the end of the PAC twelve.
That's it. Now. People are all over social media, what's
your favorite PAC twelve memory? And all of these things
and The song playing in the stadium at Allegiance is
Green Day's good Riddance, Time of Your Life, right, which
Tysher played earlier in the show, and we'll play it
(04:40):
again now. And this is a song that kind of
since it came out off of Green Days was the
Dukie album, Right, it came out off of that. Since
it came out of Green Day's album, this song has
stood for, Hey, we're celebrating something it's not gonna be
around anymore. I hope you enjoyed it. Right, it's I
hope you had the time of your life. Right, graduations,
(05:02):
end of end of packed, end of conferences, college football,
end of a funeral. Right. But here's the thing. This
song is not about something happy. This is not about
celebrating something that has been great. Billy Joe Armstrong wrote
this song about a girlfriend that they broke up and
she moved, like to Ecuador, and he wrote this to say,
(05:25):
a blank, you hope you had the time of your life.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Like.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
It's very sarcastic, but yet this has turned into a
oh hey, this is a song that stands for all
the good No, this is part of yes. This is
a sarcastic, absolutely sarcastic song hope you had the time
you suck called see You in Hell? But yet? But yeah,
(05:50):
when hey, we need a song because something's ending, all
use good riddens, either that or My Immortal by Evanescence.
Those are like the two songs. Oh you got to
use both of these songs. Like I remember when Friends
was ending, like My Immortal was playing on TV at
Friends only four more episodes of Friends, and then Friends
is ending, and seinfelt the same way, two more episodes
until Seinfeld ends and they played time in Your Life.
(06:12):
I'm like, okay, it's it's really it's about It's about
something that's really said. And the guy is bitter and
the song is bitter, and he's upset and he's pissed
and he started to but I mean, to be fair,
I mean, you don't want to be carried out at
a funeral? Is that that song? Oh? No, I got
my whole funeral planned out. It's great. What do you
have funeral for a friend? That's in there?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Okay, I mean that's part of the prosessional because that's
like an eight minute instrumental.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I sing funeral for my best friend, my class bleeding
to do that yeah, and then we'll have have mercy.
I tell my wife to listen. One thing I want
to tell you, because you're gonna play music that I like.
That's what I wanted my fear. Don't play any rat
(06:57):
no rat rat is overrated. I every time I might
turn on the Hair Nation, they play too much rat.
No rat, no rat, that's it, No rat no.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I've updated the set list for the wakes and for
the funeral, as well as the accompanying mini shots bottles
that go with it.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
But this is it's no, it's it's the end of
the Pac twelve. It's sad, it's bittersweet, it's it's that's it.
It's bitter sweet. Right, you're bitter about it, but you're
not the time you're like Pac twelve. Reggie Bush problems
you cause people are stupid. Give him back his heisman.
(07:35):
I don't understand how this song has become. That's all
it stands for. But it's anything set use green day,
use green day well, or look.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
If you use a word incorrectly and enough people do it,
they put it in the dictionary.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Now, same thing here. All it took was a couple
of people to misinterpret what was going on irregardless of
the dictionary. Yes, no, it is what's your beef with
Green Day? Man? Now I'm saying is why do you
hate green Do you have to be in love to
write a love song? Do you have to be said
to write? Wait?
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Wait?
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Are you quoting high fidelity? That was almost famous?
Speaker 5 (08:08):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:08):
No, I like Green Day, Green Day? No, I love
that it is now in it's an adverb. It's just stupid.
That's American idiot is probably here's a hot take American Idiot.
Probably the best album since two thousand? No, who is
an American Idiot? Best? The night you are? Who? Yes?
Because I picked Oregon to beat Washington in a route
and it didn't work out that way.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
No, No, it's the Seahawks, Pig, the Seahawks, me and the Browns.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Uh. No is that? I love Green Day? But this song,
like if you want to say, this song reminds me
of something. Okay, I get it right for some reason,
just because I hear this song, I heard this is
the first song I heard after my girlfriend and I
broke up, broke up, and it always reminds me that. Okay,
I get that because it just happened to be on
the radio. The first song you heard, uh you know,
(08:53):
I turned on the radio and breaking Up his Heart
to Do came on, So that became the song.
Speaker 6 (08:57):
No.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
But this is like, hey, we need to pick something
to stand for, something that says that we want to
be positive, and instead they picked this song that is
not about anything PI. I mean, even listening to the lyrics,
you're like, ooh ooh, I'm supposed to be celebrating while
he's talking about this crowd. Glad you're gone. I'm glad,
glad you're out. Hope you enjoyed the time with the
(09:18):
kid because now it's over. I never understand.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
There's the updated twenty twenty four version. I never learned
how to play a couple of chords and you can.
I'm glad you had the time with the kid.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I never did. I probably blamed Seinfeld because Seinfeld jumped
that they were the first one to use the finale
of Seinfeld was everywhere. They used this song to push
the finale of it. Now, Oh yeah, that Green Day song.
It's so sad. No, it's not a sad song. It's
a bitter, pissed off song about a guy who is
really sarcastic. That's the song. Would it be on the
Metal stand?
Speaker 3 (09:48):
I'm working on different categories from my show if I
want the Metal Stand to come out, Okay, so would
that be on the metal stand of pissed Off?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
It's on my metal stand right now because of the
use of the song. I'm here by the time. I
hope you enjoyed that song that didn't stand for what
you thought it would stand for, and now you're listening.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
To it that there you go. That's like that, because
that's that's kind of where I'm going with it.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
There's a lot of project, but a lot of bitter
pissed off songs you can use. But that's my pointy.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, we can get a lot of I'm gonna have
a whole channel. Yeah, that I dedicate to it. Not
go tears for fears.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
No, this is true. Stop stops Michael on Twitter.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
They did remind us that it's from the Nimrod album Nimrod,
I said, Duke, I mean they could.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Have done this.
Speaker 6 (10:34):
Hey, Jason, you want to know something, I'm working on
a couple of Christmas.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Specials with this.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
You're working on a couple of what Christmas specials?
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Really? When you need Christmas specials, Well, like a Star
Wars Christmas special. No, I'm using tears for fears, tears
like for a TV show. No, No, for like a
special for just this show.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Special project or special project for you know what, because
you got to say thank him, because he's putting in
a lot of time behind the scenes to really augment
what we're doing this holiday.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Let me holiday holiday, c hopeing at the time of
your life, ty shirt, thank you Jason, just for that.
I'm leaving you had a good run. Uh Noo, There's
there's other songs you could write that evoke memories of sadness,
who hurt you, wistfulness of that? I just I hear
that go It's like there's no other song. Oh I'm sad,
(11:22):
So let's use Green Day. Hey, can we have some
Fogelberg Washington. You're expecting them to be creative, like, what
are you doing here? Well? No, no, it's just no.
This is for the PAC twelve. This is like you're
expecting the PAC twelve whose demises tonight? It's ending to
be creative. Hey, Hey, anybody got a good song we
could use? You know, dum, here's what here's what you use,
(11:47):
here's your song, here's your song God Only Knows by
the Beach Boys West Coast Beach Boys. I may not
always don't even know who the Beach Boys are. I
got explaining the Generation X with the Beach Boys.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
My favorite was the one they did for the BBC.
Did you ever see that cut up? So it's like
all these different, uh huge music acts and they take
turns and it's a great video.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
And then at some point you got Dave Grohl and
a cloud going God Only like it's great. A little
too early for the BBC Bike BBC Now, No, listen
the lyrics on this. Think about the Pac twelve going
away Stars above you. You never need to doubt it.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
See and now you put everybody to sleep.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Good job without you. All this to video Reggie Bush
getting pushed over the goal line, you know, the guy
scoring the touchdown and spiking it on the trombone player
and the play. Yeah, that's a good one. It's better
than Green Day better.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
It's the line in the song Jason, I hope you
have the time of your life.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah, but it's sarcastic. She said. He's saying, hope at
the time of your life, you suck. It's something unforgettable
is right. You may as well play the sex pistols.
What's a song that goes you suck you suck, you suck,
you suck. What's the Holidays in the Sun? That's the one,
you suck you Holiday in the Sun? Holiday in the
(13:19):
Sun would be pretty sarcastic, cat well saltiness. I don't
want a holiday and that's god, I don't want that
would work. No, I can get on board this screen days.
Let's celebrate. Yes, it's the end of the PAC twelve.
Oh this is better. Eh, wheezer, this would be great,
the end of the PAC twelve and they all this
(13:41):
singing along, just bopping. The PAC twelve is dead. Long
live the New Big ten and the other two teams
that are playing Mountain West schedules, which came out earlier today.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (13:53):

When Trevor Hoffman closed things out near the Christmas holiday,
this was his entrance song. You want to explain to
millennials who Trevor Hoffin was. I gotta explain letos who
ACDC is. Now they're gonna be back on tour in
twenty twenty four. Johnson's back Baby Fox Sports Radio the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Garment, and
hopefully they'll sing this as part of the sentlist at
(16:43):
you want, you want a great Christmas song You've never
heard of?
Speaker 6 (16:46):
I feel like I've played a lot of great ones,
but sure when I haven't.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Heard of you, You've played a couple good ones, all right,
com but you've never heard of Hailstorm, Mistress for Christmas, Hailstorm,
Hailstorm You Will Love So Their cover he Hailstorm for Christmas?
Speaker 6 (16:59):
Who is Hailstorm?
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Hailston's Lizzy Hale's the lead singers, one of the best
rock bands the last ten years. Oh, Lizzie Maguire, No Lizzy,
Lizzy was Snakes, Yes, l z z y l. I
think Hailstorm is a game on Xbox. No Heilstone, I
want to Mistress for Chris. But yeah, wasn't that uh well,
(17:23):
it sounds that you know what, how blank you blank
you blank, you blake all of you? Okay? Or legitimately
wasn't that He's gonna win this game in a route
or it's gonna be rout. But they do a good
version of it cover saying yes. I'm saying, oh, you're
playing all original Christmas songs? Or are you playing covers
(17:46):
of song mine? What do you mean? All your claim
them all.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
You're so maddening, You're so just like claimable takes tonight.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
I had.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I had a roommate my freshman year in college, and
he and I were like oil water because he would
argue without logic, and it was it would frustrate the
hell out of me. And it would be he would
argue something and I would go, I just want to
I want to bang your head against the wall because
I hate I can't argue people without logic, and and
it's it's a thing. And I get to that point sometimes.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
With well, Jason, logic, I guess. But it isn't like
a truth, just a consensus agree in upon. It's not
really true.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
What what is anything? I just said, No, that's good.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
Just enough people agree about it doesn't make it true.
But that's what a truth is.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
What is it? Listen, this is your brain on vegetables.
All I want is some truth. Losing is a disease.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Well, Jason, I also found this song you just talked
about and it's not good.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
I'll play it for you.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
Oh it sounds like Dolly Parton trying to come back
into the scene.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
That's not Dolly. Is that off for new rock star? Hesday?
Speaker 6 (18:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (18:58):
But I do want to say something serious a second.
That was time serious for a second? All right, do
you want to play Sharons song?
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Suggestion? Maybe he plays underneath here this is the door? No, no,
d we do that.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
In the complements we talk about the end of the
PAC twelve. Uh. No, I do want to say this because, uh,
the last couple of weeks, it's been a bit of
a thing. We had Johnny Ramos leave, who has been
a Fox Sports Radio employee for a long time. Yea
worked during the day running all the shows from Jay
Moore's Show to Doug Gottlieb Show, Everybody Show, and since
(19:31):
he left, one of the great dudes. Since he's been gone,
there was the possibility that Alex Tyshert was gonna move
and work during the day and we would lose him
and his all of his efforts on the show. And
when Alex had the chance to either move or stay,
could have worked earlier in the day, could have done
(19:51):
a lot, I think, could have done on a May
much earlier in the day. He decided to make the
decision to stay with us, which I just want to say,
thank you very much. It's awesome that you're here. It's
awesome that you stayed. Frostburg would have quit if you
left as well. I don't know if that's good or bad,
but the threat was made. But you've always done a
(20:12):
phenomenal job, and it's awesome that you're gonna stay here
with us and continue on.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Thank you, Jason.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
So you can clip that off. I don't know what
that's worth, because I ain't saying nothing nice about you
ever wanted. It's all I ever want back to how
much your music sucks. Thank you? If only that was
sincere Wow? Wow, really no, I meant the part about
I don't know if you quitting would have been good
or bad. I didn't know that was true. Yeah, I
didn't know that part that was true. I don't know.
(20:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
Can I just get you to say, Jason, I am
the best here because you said I was one of
the best.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Oh yeah, sure, I am the best here. Thank you God. Okay,
we're good.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
You're gonna do the how many you know? Where do
I rank on the list of people you've worked with?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
It you're one of them? You're one of them? Yes, uh,
Alex Ticher, if you were in House of the Dragon,
you would have been the one kid that got killed
very early. That that that just yeah, that would be
that's not fair. I want to write a dragon at
least if only the move was up to Alex. Yeah,
I like that. I don't want to ride the dragon.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
All right, we're drifting into a hole of it.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
That's aday. That's a different BBC.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
You know.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Look which really if you want talk about shows on BBC. Yeah,
Oregon and they blow Jason Smith said Oregon gold with
meat washed it aroute and he was wrong, and that
he's going viral all across across the globe. He picked,
He picked the duck of husky, eat them by a husky,
(21:42):
ask you would eat it and we would split With
his friends it was said, look, you eat the bill,
you gotta eat the tail. I'm gonna eat the legs,
and we eat the duck in the BBC's not in
New Zealand. Man, BBC is all over now, and you're
going down a d C is all over sixty four
thousand people now, it's all sixty four, it's all over.
(22:03):
I think that started with a thousand man. Yeah, uh yeah.
Always always fun to go viral when you when you
pick the wrong game and you're very loud about it.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah, but you know what, if you're gonna go viral
about something in our business a wrong.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Just pick it. True. We saw Washington win tonight. They're
moving on to the playoff. Nothing that that's not even
a question anymore. Impressive wind champion. Yeah, for a conference
that for a long time was looked at as hey,
this is the bestest conference has been Maybe it's the
(22:38):
best conference in college football. Washington is in the other
three teams that are ranked in the top four all
playing tomorrow. Are they all in win or in type situations? Well,
certainly Georgia and Michigan are. If you listen to Pete
Futek was with us earlier in the show. He said,
even if Michigan loses, I can't see them not getting
I disagree vehemently with that. But the big thing, well, look,
(23:01):
anybody who loses is gonna be no no.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
But if you lose to Iowa as a twenty two
twenty three, the running the laughing stock.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
But then it depends what other games happen.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Like let's just say they would need other stuff to
help them, right, because it definitely everybody else.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
You know, it takes care of business and they lose. No, see,
because you're looking at if Texas could lose to Oklahoma State.
Other things could happen, But if you're looking at a
chance for the undefeated teams to lose, I'm will give
you two things for tomorrow. The first one because I'm
red hot with my Organ's gonna win in a route
Louisville over Florida State in a route. Look, I don't
(23:36):
two points sprints, so that's okay. I don't know that
winning for Florida State is even enough. I don't know
that winning this game is enough winning ugly. They might
have to win forty five to three to say okay,
this undefeated ACC team is into the College Football Playoff
because we talked about the Playoff Committee chair who said
earlier this week, yeah, hey, Florida State's undefeated old team Corgan,
(24:00):
different team without Jordan Travis said it twice, different team
without Jordan Travis. They are dying to be able to
kick them out because they're looking behind them. Going Texas
is probably better. Alabama would be better, but Alabama's gotta
win because you can't take a two loss Alabama team.
But they are dying to say one of these teams win.
Guess what, Florida State, We're ready to kick you out.
We got our foot right behind your butt right now.
(24:20):
Doesn't matter you don't play well, we can kick you out.
I can see an undefeated Florida State team not making
the College Football Playoff, especially if it's an ugly game.
And right now, we don't know if they're gonna have
their second string quarterback because it's a game time decision tomorrow,
and I don't really know. I don't really know if
(24:42):
I can expect them to win no matter who plays quarterback,
because unless it's Charlie Ward, because this is a Florida
State team that struggled immensely last week with Florida who
is not great. Florida's defense is not good at all,
and still it took everything they could to win this game.
The road to maker is a game time decision. Not
(25:02):
like he played great last week, you'd be down to
him or your third guy. Louisville's defensive line is really good.
This is the best team Florida State is going to
play and will have played all you. Yes, they played LSU,
it was week one. It would be a different game now.
LSU would probably win by two or three touchdowns, so
they don't have a great resume their other big wins
(25:22):
against Duke, which okay, it's nice to be the seven
and five Duke team. So I don't expect them to
win tomorrow. And even if they win, I don't think
they get in.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
See I like gear analysis of the game. I'm gonna
go to the committee itself, right, because the game analysis
unless they win in a blowout, I don't think it's
a locked and loaded, right, it's not, Hey, bust out
the sharpie, you're in, I think from the committee side,
And we've talked with Pete a couple of times as
this has gone on the last couple of weeks, tried
(25:52):
to dissect some of Bout Corrigan's comments because week to
week kind of shuffles a little bit. Because remember when
florida'stake got bounced out at the top four, it was
we like the way Washington, Washington did blow anybody out, Right,
they didn't win that game convincingly, but decided well, you know,
just coincidental that the quarterback went down and they won
(26:13):
a game fifty eight three.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
You know it should have been a shutout. No, So
so they make that move.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
I go to the point that when we're talking about precedents,
we're talking about all of the mechanics of this that
have gone on for a couple of years, because that's
all this playoff stuff is. Let's not get all excited
like this is some forty year history there. We could
lament the loss of the pac twelve pack, ten pack eight,
(26:40):
all of this stuff and their rich history and all
these players, great coaches and moments in football history and
all of the great great highlights that we have players
that have gone to the pros, whatever else. When we're
talking about the playoff run and just saying, well, they've
never done this before, it's gone after this year in
(27:01):
this format, So what's holding you to any standard of
what was college football? Has been blown up over the
last couple of years. Next year we're talking about new rivalryes,
all of like Phil Steele's book is gonna suck, and
I love Phil Steele.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Phil Steele's book comes out tomorrow actually.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
But for next year, a lot of the data points
that we've relied on building they don't matter anymore, no,
because all of these new conferences, all of these like
a lot of the histories go out the window.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
And that's the same here when we look at the playoffs.
So what do they need to do in the final
iteration of the four team playoff. It's not about upholding
some arbitrary standard saying well, we've always done it this way.
You're looking for the best TV show to get everybody
excited about what you've got and the product that you
can put in front of you. And if that means
(27:53):
Florida State, even if they win, is left home, nobody's
gonna cry.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
It's a Uh, it's gonna be a thing when you see,
whether it's whether it's Boo or somebody else, the matter
with my Boo, whether it's Boo, Corgan or not, is
going to say this when they try to when they
attempt to justify leaving out Florida State getting Alabama in.
If Alabama beats Georgia and then suddenly you're knocking two
(28:20):
teams out, uh, it's gonna be This is gonna be
their statement. It is not our job to break down
the resume of what teams have accomplished. It is our
job to put the four best teams right now in
college football in the playoff, and that means Alabama gets
in over Texas because right now Alabama is a better team,
but Texas bea to Alabama. You know what doesn't matter
(28:42):
in the NFL. You lose to one team week two,
you can beat them in week ten. That's champion between
Trump's everything not but right, but not our job. Florida State,
they're undefeated. What else do you want to do? They're
undefeated in the ACC. They will get smoked. They are
not one of the four best teams in the playoffs.
Smoke down's gonna Texas is a better football team than
(29:05):
Florida State. That's going to be what they're gonna stand on.
And that's always should have been what the committee stands
on when picking who are the four best teams in
the country. And what you do is you play. And
it doesn't mean that your resume is irrelevant, but it
means you need to be playing your best and being
that best team that combination when the playoffs start and
(29:26):
where you are right now, because that's really what's gonna
portend to being able to win. That's gonna be what
they say, This is our job. Who are the four
best teams? And we believe, we know we put the
four best teams in the playoff and it's gonna piss
off Florida State, it'll piss off Texas somebody else. But
that's how it's gonna go.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
But then you decide who's your odds maker of choice,
You brand with them, and you say, all right, you're
the one that sets the odds to create the best
four games possible. Because right now, everything I've seen, if
you took the top five as they stood coming into
this week's action, Florida of State was would be a
double digit underdog.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Against all of them.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Yeah, twelve points or more every one of those games,
right easy. But like that, those were the the look
ahead lines. So if that's the case, they're out because
all these other teams rate better, Yeah, as well as
a few teams behind the Florida.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
State would be would be an underdog to Alabama. They'd
be an underdog to Texas, three underdog to Ohio State.
Would beat Syracuse though, they'd be I might be a
pick them because fran Brown's taking all the guys from
Georgia with him too. Syracuse. Really, yeah, be a pick them,
pick them, pick them? They would destroy here. They already did.
I think what was final was it for? I think, yeah,
(30:38):
I already did earlier this year. Right now, let's find
out what's trending from someone for the final time tonight.
For the final time tonight, this will be the last
update Steve de Sager ever gives. While the PAC twelve
is a conference, did you have the time of your life?
You will? You will never cast another update? While the
Pack twelve is a co who was at Sergia dip?
(31:00):
Was that that guy's name having the time of his life?
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:04):
I wondered why all the mascots were standing there cheering
in the corner here. That's what's going on, you know.
The most recent Pact twelve football team to make the
playoff was Washington twenty sixteen. They're making it this year.
Thirteen and zero rank third in the country. Washington edge
number five ranked Oregon to win the Pac twelve title
tonight in Vegas thirty four thirty one. Oregon's only loss
(31:26):

(32:50):
but they won't be in the Mountain West standings. Washington

close the book on the PAC twelve conference. Our final
thoughts on what stands out to us over the course
of the past fifty years. The one play we think
about or play as we think about see if you
can play along what you think The play of the
night is going to be coming up next again the
(35:43):
play of the Night next next, Top Fox.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
Most Don Jason hold On.
Speaker 2 (35:54):

Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays, said ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
I say something nice about the guy, and look what happens.
Say what a great what a great person he is?
The songs for you PAC twelve the night the PAC
(36:23):
twelve died. Congratulations to Washington, You're a last PAC twelve champion.
We'll have to play then. I come on your way
in a couple of seconds. But you know, part of
the breakdown and people are all thinking about you know,
it's the end of the PAC twelve. We're never going
to see it again. You know, it's still sad to
(36:44):
think about the end of the PAC twelve. And it
really what I get to what I think of the most.
This is the image I have in my head is
that you had the rock Star program that was USC
with Pete Carroll and it was what everybody sees right
now with Colorado for September. This was USC for three
or four years and they just owned the sport and
(37:06):
the power of the Pac twelve, which was when you
would see USC in this run, whether whoever the quarterback was,
where it was Linered or Sanchez or Booty, whatever it was,
they would play once a year, twice a year, they'd
have that Thursday night or Saturday night game either at
Washington or at Washington State, or at Oregon or at
(37:28):
Oregon State in like early November, where it was cold,
but the atmosphere was insane and it was a game
that USC should win and sometimes they lost it, and
the and the atmosphere was like a regular SEC game
where if Alabama's playing at Mississippi State, like, wow, my god,
Starkville is insane. Well, yeah, because that's the SEC. That's
(37:49):
how big and how powerful and how popular and how
rabbid the Pac twelve was. And in ten years it's
gone to we mismanage it and now.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
A Scott Well, but think about it, you know, just
from a you know, celebrity and that kind of excitement.
I mean, we saw it in September with Colorado, right,
it was a brief period where we recalled all of
those glory days and what ended up happening after the
Carol and everything going on there with Reggie Bush and
(38:19):
the sanctions and all that. All of a sudden they
were telling all these guys to stay away, right, But
you know that was at its peak. I mean, that
was an NFL Sunday, right. That was some of these big,
big time events that we've been able to celebrate here
from behind the desk at Fox Sports Radio these last years.
I mean, sad tonight, they had like some great moments,
(38:42):
great highlights these players. We saw the next round of
NC double A, you know, college Football Hall of Famers,
and Reggie Bush is on that list. You know, like, ah,
you remember how great he was. No Heisman, but you
remember how great he was. But now that the conference
goes into the good night.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
But this is how it ends. It said that this
is how it ends from that power that was so great. Yeah,
and this is ten years have gone to now this
is how it ends. Oh, because you assigned a really
terrible TV deal. It's more than that.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
But yeah, well but I mean that that's one of
the large problems with I mean, look at where the
Big ten. They did it right, and all they've been
able to do is expand and expand and expand.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Time out for the progressive Play of the Night brought
to by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.

ATV and more all your protection in one plays Bundle

the end of the PAC twelve, the PAC twelve is closed. Yeah,
my tweet about Oregon blowing out Washington closing the pack
(39:46):
twe why did we get to it on at this point? Uh?
Seventy grand I don't probably seventy Uh. There is only
one play of the night that stands for the PAC twelve.
That is also the most famous play in college football history.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Armon will probably try to swim it, and he does.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
All comes Ruth of the Bears have to get out
of bounds. Come Bears Rogers along the sideline. On other one,
they're still in deep trouble and veil. They tried to
duel a puple of the ball. It's still loop and
they get it for Rogers. They get it backed out
of the Bernie. We're down at the twenty. All the
band is out of the field.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
Down one.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
The Bears have one, Oh my.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
God, amazing sensational traumatic, heart running, exciting twilly.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
Finish in the history of college football. All the band
is out of the field. The play, the final play
of the night day, the Pac twelve is no more.
Cal Bear's acc cal Bear's Radio No Rogers was part
of that history. Coming up next Burning Bernie Frid of
this as FOS
