(00:00):
One of two five canes Today's BestCountry and all time favorites. I'm barrel
boy and I got on the phoneright now Ricky Stanhous Junior number forty seven,
to ask her Cup Series driving forJT. G. Daughtry Racing sponsored
by Kroger. Welcome to Canoe Country, Ricky. How are you all?
It's always good to be on acountry station. So I'm just good.
(00:20):
Just looking forward to getting out toyou know, Phoenix and racing this weekend.
And then you know, just nevera bad time to be in the
sun. Well, that's what Iwas going to ask you. I didn't
know if you stayed out west likesome of the drivers do after Las Vegas,
but it sounds like you went backhome to North Carolina. We did.
You know a lot of times wedo stay out. I would say
ninety percent of the time we stayout. Had some things to get done
(00:43):
this week. I went to theshop, hung out with the guys,
and really prepped hard for this weekend. Then, you know, so we
we came on back after Vegas.I understand. And you have a little
one on the way, and yougot a pregnant wife, so she may
not have understood if you decided tostay out west and go golfing for a
few days. Yeah, that mayhave been frowned up bomb, but I
got some golf done in Vegas.I actually thought about golfing here, and
(01:06):
then we just got so much goingon around our ranch and and here at
the race shop that we just decidedto come on back. She normally will
stay out West with me. Butyou know, all in all, it's
always enjoy the West Coast Swing, being out in Vegas and Phoenix, and
then obviously we used to be outin California as well. But yeah,
West Coast swen is a good time, very cool. Yeah. And you
(01:30):
spoke about your ranch, you callwhat slide job ranch kind of referencing your
dirt racing days. Correct, that'sexactly right. Well, Uh, we
do a little ranch, and Iwould say it's loose ranching. Uh.
You know, we got some longorange and some donkeys and got a lot
of grass to cut. Very good. I know that, Ricky. You
are super into your fitness. Sowhat is a pre race meal look like
(01:51):
for you? Most of the timeit's you know, some type of you
know, grilled chicken, ground turkeywith some veggie. Uh, you know,
something fairly light, you know, and it varies on the weekend,
you know, race to race, but yeah, just something like just different
protein and then you know, sofor me that's the biggest thing. And
(02:13):
then afterwards, uh my, mybus driver will generally have me a file
a cooked up so good good dinnerafter after the race. Yeah, very
sure. I mean you burn aton of calories. And I mean obviously
you can pick up all those itemsin the pre and the post race meal
at your local Kruger or here inArizona we call them fries here, so
I mean got to make sure youswing by fries get everything you need for
(02:36):
race weekend out at Phoenix Raceway. And speaking of race weekend, you are
coming to town, uh Friday, you are going to be here tomorrow from
five to six pm. You aregoing to be at the fries at Litchfield
and Camelback Litchfield Park. But theevent goes on from two to six.
It's the freshest pit crew competition, but you can come out from five to
(02:59):
six meet Ricky. Yeah, no, it's uh, you know, it's
store appearance that we've done quite afew times there and it's always received really
well. Hell obviously not too farfrom the racetrack, which is nice.
A lot of our fans love beingable to you know, come see us
drivers outside of the racetrack. Youknow, I mean, we're always so
busy inside the racetrack and you know, got meetings to go to and practices
(03:21):
and qualifying and so, you know, we found a lot of autographs and
stop and say hey to people, but you know, we're always kind of
on the move. So it's alwaysnice to get out in the community and
go to a store, appearents anddo them in the parking lots like I
feel like back in the you know, nineties, early two thousands, I
feel like we used to do alot of that, especially when I got
here, you know, kind ofthe mid two thousands. So looking forward
(03:45):
to you know, getting back outthere and seeing everyone and they can come
sample all our great you know companiesthat are in our COG Racing program.
Absolutely, there's gonna be tons ofgreat samples. It's a great family friendly
event. Again. That's Friday Tomorrow, two to six is the freshest pit
crew competition is gonna be at Lichfieldand Campbell back Road Litchfield Park. Ricky's
(04:06):
going to be there after practicing,uh from five to six pm, So
come by get an autograph from him. Now, Ricky, I know you've
signed a ton autographs in your career. What is the strangest thing that you
have ever been asked to sign?Always kind of go to I signed a
guy's forehead one time, and Ithink that was in Arizona at Phoenix Raceway
(04:29):
one time. So that was alittle odd. It was a little sweaty
had the white sweat off to dothat, and I think it ruined my
sharpy. But uh, anyway,I think that's that's been the oddest thing
so far. Would we say thathe was sober or not sober? Uh?
No, he actually was sober. You know. I think he was
just like, hey, let's doit. So uh, just he was.
(04:50):
He was there at the racetrack tohave a good time there you go
get after it. And uh,you mentioned earlier, you know you were
excited to being a counchry station.Who are you? Who do you like?
Country music? What bands? Songs? What are you feeling right now?
Parker McCollums a buddy of mine andso I definitely gravitate towards you know,
his music, Larry Fleet as well. I listened to a lot of
(05:13):
nineties country. Is kind of whereI've not really grown out of the country
scene. Like my Mount Rushmore wouldbe like Darth, George Allen and uh,
I don't know after that Brooks anddun dude, what what man?
That's a hell of Mount Rushmore. And speaking of Parker, he's actually going
(05:34):
to be doing a show. Youmissed him by a week. He's going
to be doing a show for usnext Saturday here in Cadox Country. He's
playing at what we call the SmokeShow. It's a barbecue and a country
music festival with Parker. Yeah,it seems like we miss him about about
a week here actually over the lastyou know few races that we've read.
(05:54):
So that's a bummer. I'm gonnatell us guys to uh to schedule up
his his shows closer to race weekend. All right, And last question,
speaking of music, I know atsome tracks in Bristol and I think even
maybe Phoenix does it. What isyour walkout song? It changes? You
know, I don't remember which songI picked last, but you know,
(06:17):
I just kind of just kind ofjust change it up all the time.
So go with whatever you're feeling, right, Yeah, I just kind of
go with whatever I'm feeling. Ilike Rodeo by Garth Brooks a lot is
probably one of my favorite songs, and so I generally gravitate towards that absolutely.
And so race is the number fortyseven for JTG Daughtry Racing. This
(06:41):
Sunday out of Phoenix Race, wewith a cup race. What what's the
car look like this week? Iknow you guys often have a lot of
the different brands a part of theKroger Racing family. Who's on the car
this week? Yeah, it's gotFroze on the hood obviously being out there.
You got the got the Red schemegoing on, and in Coca Cola
on there as well. So,yeah, our sponsors changed so much,
(07:03):
you know throughout the year, We'veyou know, we had Tree Top applesol
from there. Last week, youknow, we ran the five hundred with
Cottonell on the car. So youknow, it's always cool that, you
know, we got so many partnersin our race program and it rotates every
week. All right, very good, Well come on and see twenty twenty
(07:25):
three, Day two on a fivehundred Champion Ricky Stenhouse Friday Tomorrow, two
to six pm Litchfield and Countback Road, the Fries. There for the Freshest
pit crew competition. Ricky will besign an autograph from five to six.
Cheer on the forty seven if you'regoing to the race. If not,
watch it on Fox. Thank youRicky, and good luck to you.
Thank you appreciate it.
