point seven. Oh, good morning, Schmitty, Good morning. Welcome into
it a brand new week here inNovember for you and hole Leak. How
this it lia gorgeous? Sort oflike our weekend looked it was be beautiful.
Yeah, I see sixty sixty comingup this week, you guys.
(00:21):
So if you have been feeling likewe got a little cheated out of fall
because in't that little snow we hadback on Halloween? Boy, does it
look like a gorgeous opportunity to getout with the kids and hey, that
looks so bad for you either,Hunters figuring out for that opening day on
Wednesday. That's right, sunshine, mid fifties. That's not a bad way
to spend it out of the blindsthere. Yeah, I know my husband's
(00:43):
getting ready for it. You're allthe stuff putting it together. Yep.
I was gonna say this is youknow, we're here for West Michigan's Christmas
Station November fifteenth, is your isyour husband's Christmas? There's a lot of
people out there like that. Well, this is a very big deal because
it's the first year. My fiveyear old son is going with him,
So it's like a really really awesomething. He's excited about. How jacked
is he. He's just got tobe so pumped to be able to go
(01:03):
into the woods with dad. I'mgoing home with Dad. They've gone up
to the up a couple times nowto prepare and he's been super excited about
all the big kids stuff he getsto do. So I know a lot
of people out there are doing that. It's gonna be a good, good
week into the weekend to be there, movies, music and all the gossip
in one place. It's the celebritiesgoop on Star one oh five point seven.
(01:27):
Well, it was a big kickoffweekend to the international leg of the
Ariostour for Taylor Swift, who showedup and when Olsa's Argentina with a little
bit of drama, she actually hadto cancel the Friday night show due to
inclement weather. Fans got a littleshady though, when video surfaced of Travis
(01:47):
Kelcey touching down Friday afternoon to seeher. A lot of fans going,
You've done shows in the rain before, what's different now? Did you just
want to spend a night with Travisand not do your show. It came
to the point where she actually didhave to issue a statement saying, listen,
I know I'd love doing shows inthe rain, but with the wind
and other inclement problems, it wasjust not safe for fans. Saturday Night.
(02:09):
She was there though, as wasTravis, and one of the moments
that have gone absolutely viral was postshow when fans saw Taylor literally sprint to
Travis backstage. That's the moment theystarted badly making out before going into the
(02:31):
tent and leaving. There was alsoa really sweet moment where Taylor's dad was
in the VIP tent with Travis andyou can see that he's clearly given his
stamp of approval. He was wearinga Kansas City Chief's lanyard, which is
a very big deal because he's ahardcore Eagles fan. Ah who faced off
in this Super Bowl. Nonetheless,so it's gonna lose you your Philly cred.
(02:52):
I feel like we're there. BritneySpears's manager has slamming Saturday Night Live
writers and comedian Chloe Fine for impersonatingthe singer in a skit over the weekend.
Kate Hudson had some strong words afterthis bit where they're looking for different
actors or actresses to narrate the audiobookof Britney's memoir. I'm beyond touched that
(03:16):
my book The Woman in Me hitnumber one on the New York Times bestseller
List. To say the least,my audio book is read by the amazing
Michelle Williams. But she wasn't theonly one who wanted to read it.
Here's the peak at some of theother actors who auditioned to read The Woman
in Me. O. Yeah,so we had like somebody playing Alison Janny.
(03:38):
We had Timothy Shalomey who was thehost, pretending to be Martin Scorsesey.
The big deal here, though,is what everybody was saying about the
book, like, Oh, Ireally enjoy the Florida vernacular. Somebody else
going, this is too dumb forme to even read. Kate Hudson,
Britney's manager, said, Wow,the writers of SNL are getting worse and
worse. No wonder you all reachedout to me to get Brittany on the
(03:59):
show. Snella is on life support. You're all pathetic and this Chloe isn't
even funny. Did you find heron Craigslist or something. Brittany herself has
not spoken out about this. No, get off of it. I mean
Saturday night lab bikes, fun ofeverybody. It's your job. He had
to say something. This is veryinteresting. Rihanna and Asap Rocky trouble in
Paradise. The last few days haveshown the couple not really with each other,
(04:24):
which is strange because usually when they'reout there spotted together. So Asap
Rocky is in some legal hot waterright now. He's fighting gun charges in
court, and you would think thatRihanna would be by a side through this,
and we haven't seen them together likeat all. Thursday, rieb was
actually at San Vincente Bungalows in WestHollywood. Rocky was in an entirely different
(04:45):
part of the city. Friday night, he was seen coming out of dinner
by himself. Rihanna was with friendsacross town, and then on Sunday she
was in Santa Monica. Asap wasnowhere to be seen. Now. Some
sources say it has been very veryhard for the couple given these legal problems,
and Rihanna isn't quite sure where sheneeds to lend her support right now,
(05:06):
and so the two are just kindof taking a little bit of time
to figure out what's next, whichwould be really sex. They got two
kids together. I was gonna saytwo young kids together too. Yeah,
all of your celeb scoop at WestMichigan Star dot Com. Good lord,
it's you. It's Mack and Schmidty, hoping that you had a phenomenal weekend.
I did you, Betty. Igot to go to Chicago, went
(05:27):
and saw on Jerry Seinfeld Jim gaffagain. Oh yeah. They were over
there on Friday night, great greatshow. And then on Saturday, I
was staying with my brother. Weactually went over there for his anniversary and
his birthday, which was on Saturday, and I had to watch Michigan Playpenn
State. It had a lot offun, specifically Saturday. But they are
such better hosts than we are.He and his family because their kids and
(05:48):
our kids are so close together. They probably stay at our house more than
anybody else. We probably stay attheir house more than anybody else. It's
real close, and they're just muchbetter at home. There's certain people,
it's just in your DNA. Thisis them. Yeah, and it kind
of drives me nuts a little bit. Do you have things that you do
special for people who are coming tostay at your house, you know,
(06:11):
like this, I mean, I'mwith you, like we kind of I
couldn't think of anything like we justclean. We make it appear like we're
less sloppy people than we are. That's what we do for you. We
make sure your sheets are clean, and your the room looks thought right,
exactly clean, the bathroom that you'regoing to be used, all of those
kinds of things. They go wayabove and beyond. And I don't know
if I've mentioned it before, butthey have added a refrigerator to the guest
(06:36):
bedroom. They have added their ownlittle mini nice glass refrigerator that is one
of the night stands in the bedroom. And this has been in there,
you know, and it was justlike a couple bottles of water, you
know, things like that in therethat you might use. My brother works
and this is an office some ofthe time too, so it's sort of
as a double feature. But thistime we get there and we happen to
(06:58):
notice bitty it's stocked with all sortsof good stuff, Like it's got a
little bottle of champagne in there, multiple different kinds of drinks. And then
all sorts of different snacks, includingsomething that I knew as soon as they
saw it was specifically for me,which were these gummy worps. I am
a obsessed with these Harborough twin HarboroughI don't even know how to say it,
(07:18):
Harry Bow, Harry Bow twin snakesthat I absolutely love, buy them
all the time at my house. My brother knows I love them. So
I get there on Saturday after wecome in from downtown Chicago and they're in
the cooler. Is some delicious HarryBow, Harry Bow. That's nice.
We do that, We actually do. We will stuck beverages and stacks for
(07:40):
people that we know and what theylove. But will you put it like
in my bedroom though this is whereI absolutely well, but if it's his
office, like I like that. It's a smart idea and I just thought
it was so genius. The partwhere I backfired, maybe just a little
bit on me, is like youshould also know, as my brother,
that I am a ridiculous human being. And so when it came time for
Saturday, we watched a lot offootball day long. We had a lot
(08:01):
of good meals, We had alot of cocktails. Cocktails, Smitty and
there came time for bedtime. Idon't know about you, but I like
to I like to just stuff myface with food that you've talked this in
bed and we've done this, soyou know that's exactly what I did.
I opened up a little bit ofthe snacks and I busted out the water
on this and I got into thoseworms pretty heavy. I think. I
(08:24):
ate, I don't know, sevenor eight of them before I fell asleep.
Well, lo and behold, Iwake up in the morning. I
am downstairs getting my coffee already whenhis daughter, my niece, goes,
Uncle Johnny, what's on your leg? What are you talking about? I'm
just wearing like athletic shorts that Ihad born to bed. I'm like,
what the I had a gummy wormso embedded into my leg hair smitty that
(08:48):
it was literally it wouldn't I hadto rip out leg hair in order to
pull the gummy worms out of Likemy wife's eyes rolled so far into the
back of her head. She's like, I am married to such a child.
She's like, I'm like they puttingin the room. This was the
purpose that went way better than Ithought. I thought you were gonna wake
up and someone was gonna be like, why is there blood all over your
(09:09):
sheets? And you were gonna go, oh, it was just me accidentally
falling asleep with gummy worms hanging outof my mouth. Oh thanks. Worse
could have been the chocolate bar.It could have been the chocolate bar.
Smooth, then you don't know what'sgoing on. As a matter of fact,
chocolate bar happens, and maybe Ieven have to question how out of
hand things happened. Honestly, gummywhere I'm embedded in your leg is like
the best case scenario for you.Thank you, Yeah, almost, given
(09:33):
the snackage history on you appreciate thatone. Thank you sometimes because I get
a good feeling. Let's get thisweek off to a great start with a
little positivity. It's feeling good rightnow. In staveto FM points seven macka
smitty with you and I gotta giveit up for your link. Oh yes,
once again your glee at Conference championsYes, Grand Valley States took down
(09:56):
Davenport on Saturday in front of asold out ten zousand person crowd over there
at Lubbers and got the victory inconvincing fashion thirty eight to nothing for the
number two ranked team in the country, but now yes, winning the outright
conference championship in the GLEEAC where theywin six to zero and ad one of
(10:16):
the nation's stuff is schedules too, only dropping a heartbreaker the very first game
of the season against Colorado School ofMines. But next up, Shmidy,
it's the playoffs and it starts witha very familiar foe. Grand Valley has
to play Farris State, the twotime defending national champions, in the opening
round of the playoffs. This ismassive for both schools, of course,
(10:41):
Like I said, Farris State tryingto win their third national championship in a
row, Grand Valley trying to breakthrough, and they will get a chance
to do so playing at Lubbers onePM this Saturday. Grand Valley, by
the way, winning its nineteenth conferencechampionship, and it's already got FEIGN national
championships and six title game appearances.OPA neu let the Lakers make that five
(11:03):
national championships. Not that I wantto hate on our Bulldogs. I love
the rivalry, but yeah, akorruptall right, this is incredible. After
seventeen years serving in the Michigan ArmyNational Guard, Tony Geerheuser decided to continue
his service by helping veterans in adifferent way. He's been working with the
West Michigan branch of the American RedCross to supply aid and resources to vets,
(11:28):
active duty military as well as theirfamilies. Of course, this is
very fitting timing as it was VeteransDay on Saturday, and to be able
to celebrate the service beyond the militarythat so many of our veterans do is
what we do. Being the executivedirector and seeing progress we've been able to
make in our veteran community has beenphenomenal, Tony tells wood TV and a
(11:50):
lot of people don't know the kindof resources that we offer to the military.
For instance, the West Michigan RedCross helps over two hundred and forty
thousand million teary members and their familiesevery single year through different methods, and
that's been a huge part of thispassion for Gearheiser talking to wood TV eight.
Being able to reach out even beyondservice actually started when he was in
(12:13):
the service. I remember when Iwas in Poland a few years back and
I was able to help three soldiersget back home and through that process that
connected with the American Red Cross whileI was serving with them right hand in
hand, being able to educate themon what they can do to contact American
Cross, have their families reach outand build a Red Cross masters and get
them home. Dur An emergency Yeah. Previously working with Red Cross Services to
(12:35):
the Armed Forces program. He isnow executive director of our West Michigan branch
and said his focus is continuing toeducate members of the Armed Forces on the
services that this nonprofit provides to them. I mean pretty awesome to just take
it to another level, right,to go above and beyond. They just
never stop working. It's in beautifulfeeling good. Is always here to point
(12:56):
out the great things going on outin our world. You need a little
pick me up, hang with us. We'll do it again this morning.
A nine to twenty on Stylinal fivepoint seven Movies, music and all the
gossip in one place. It's thecelebrities Goop on Star one oh five point
seven. No doubt you saw quitea bit of swifty content over the weekend
as Taylor Swift started the international legof her aerostour in Buenos Aire's, Argentina.
(13:20):
And yes, the Kansas City Chiefsdid indeed have a little bye week,
which meant Travis could jet on downnow. Friday night's show was canceled
due to inclement weather, but Saturdaynight fans were treated to a little bit
of a lyrical change in Taylor's songKarma the Guy the Chiefs. Yep,
not Karma is the guy on thescreen coming straight home to me, But
(13:43):
Karma is the guy on the Chiefscoming straight home to me. A lot
of fans even caught Travis's reaction fromthe VIP tent. He is beaming and
starts doing this really cute dance.Of course, afterwards, there's video that
surface of Taylor literally running to himas the two start kissing and making out,
(14:05):
and then they respotted at a restaurantlater that night with a ton of
PDA. I mean, they justseem like the honestly seemed really really in
love. Taylor's dad was also there, and a lot of fans say he
gave his stamp of approval, wearinga Kansas City Chief's lanyard with Taylor's VIP
pass on it. The flame ishot right now, Schmidy, that is
for sure. Do you think though, that you know when you change the
(14:26):
lyrics to a song that used tobe about your ex. They used to
be about your boyfriend. It wasact you've moved on or is it?
I don't know. That feels likeweirds to me, like, oh thanks,
thanks for that. It's just goingto be really hard for them because
Taylor has a lot of travel withthis international tour. Travis clearly has a
very very packed football schedule, sohopefully, but I mean distance is definitely
(14:48):
going to be a thing for thepair. Over the weekend, Leonardo DiCaprio
ringing in his forty ninth birthday.Packed with celebs. The party went down
at a space in Beverly Hills. You're ready, Kim Kardashian, jay Z,
Beyonce, Lady Gaga, So I'ma high, Ek Snoop Dog,
Sole Moonfry, Yes, Sole Moonfrywas there. Zoe Saldana, two Chains,
(15:13):
Rita or A Beck, Chris Rockand I haven't even touched the iceberg
of Like all of the names onthis list, it looked to be quite
a good time, with video evensurfacing of forty nine year old Leonardo DiCaprio
trying to wrap that's Leonardo DiCaprio andI gotta tell you guys. He definitely
(15:35):
has like the white guy moves.Oh yeah, he is embracing his almost
fifty year old life. Worth pointingout, though at least one of his
supermodel ex girlfriends turned away at thedoor. Apparently the guest list was very
very exclusive. Uh you know,I know, I didned him for a
little while. Yeah, get inline, sweeto exactly ninety star. Kel
(15:58):
Mitchell finally explaining what landed him inthe hospital last week, and it was
at first very very scary. Hetook Instagram over the weekend to show fans
his face that he was home, healing and happy when he broke down what
will happened on Tuesday. I wasout shopping when suddenly the whole room started
(16:18):
spinning, So I was like,I must be dehydrated, so I need
to go get some water some food. When I did that, the whole
right side of my arm and myleg was numb, okay, followed by
me not being able to swallow, and that's when I panicked. Yeah,
I mean, anybody listening right nowthinking, oh no, this sounds like
(16:40):
a stroke. Luckily, it wasa bulging disk along his spine from a
previous injury that had flared up andwas rubbing against a nerve. But that's
why doctors kept him in the hospitalfor as long as they did to make
sure there was nothing further. That'sfreaking disk is gonna make you know,
my throat not be able to swallow. Yeah, several other butts. Wild,
(17:02):
Yeah, glad he's okay. Finally, Lions fans, you celebrating this
morning. Wow. Going into Layesterday for an unbelievable game Jrmy James is
right in the middle for forty oneyards. The cake is good and the
Lions come to Los Angeles pick upanother big win forty one to thirty eight
(17:25):
over the Chargers, taking the Lionsto seven and two on their run toward
that number one seed in the NFC. It's wild to be using any,
let alone all of those words inthe same sentence for the Lions. I
mean it truly is. It wasalways us getting beat by the last second
field goal for years and years andyears to be on the other side of
(17:45):
that field, say, I sawso many people posting like ooh old,
Lions would have definitely messed that up. But look at us now. It's
a great call, great end ofthe game. Got some video for you
with your scoop at West Michigan Stardot com to you, Mac and Schmidty.
And you know I'm seeing this pictureon our Facebook page at West Michigan
Stars. Yeah. First things first, I'm proud of you. I'm proud
(18:07):
proud of my own self because ifyou've listened to the show, you know
I am an absolute toddler when itcomes to trying new things, especially food,
like I will go. I wentto two really fabulous restaurants in Vegas
last weekend, and I definitely checkto see if chicken tenders or mozarellisticks were
all the menu. Like, I'mjust very, very close minded when it
(18:29):
comes to food. Drives my husbandnuts because he's an absolute chef and loves
everything, and it kills him thatI'm just so picky. So I had
a girls' night Friday night. Mybest mom friends been seeing each other all
together since February, so we'd beenplanning this for a while and decided to
go to Madrid, that restaurant atthe top of the Amway Nice. I
had never been, and two ofthe other girls hadn't either, so for
(18:51):
the three or four of us,it was our first time gorgeous, I
mean beautiful. Service was stunning, and the tap us they have there are
just very all kinds of different things, yeah, small plights. And so
the girls are also very into seafood, unlike me. And so the waitress
came and she's like, we werekind of waffling about the octopus. I
was like, wow, I meanI'm good. I'm gonna have more of
(19:14):
the Bravos frittatas, which are justpotatoes tater touts and delicious to us.
And the waitress is like, ohmy gosh. If you guys are really
back and forth on it, theoctopus is incredible, Like we get it,
we brin it for twenty four toforty eight hours, we have all
this seasoning, like it's really tender, and so they're like, yeah,
oh, it's gonna be so good. And then this I mean octopus comes
to the table. Well it wasdead, it was dead, but like
(19:40):
there were so many tentacles and Ijust I don't eat this kind of stuff.
So it's very wild to me.And so the girls are devouring it.
They're like, this is delicious. And my friend Megan, who tends
to be the one that pushes me, it's like try a bite. She
goes, I will find you likea bite that I think you could handle
towards like the middle of the tentacle. I said, as you don't call
(20:00):
it the middle of the tentacle,I might have a chance of doing that.
So I call it the arm.Can I call it the arm?
Yea. So she gives me thislittle bite and I look at it and
I put it in my mouth andit's the texture. Right away. I
was like, no, the robbery. This is not for me. This
is not for me. So Ido that thing where I'm like speed chewing.
I put an entire glass of winedown to like get this thing.
(20:21):
And I was like, okay, well that was my no thank you bite,
and you guys enjoy the rest ofthat. But I was very proud
of myself for actually trying it.So I posted about our trip to Madrid.
By the way, that's just me. The octopus was incredible, the
girl said, I mean every pieceof food was so good. So I
posted about this, and John, who I know listens every morning, messaged
on my Instagram and he said, our son ordered for us all in a
(20:45):
Korean restaurant, not telling his momthat, among other things, there was
octopus in the pasan I told her. Two years later, he said,
my wife, I've never had octopusme. Actually, do you remember that
Korean restaurant in Tucson? And Ithought the long con and I just thought
(21:07):
it'd be so interesting to ask thewildest, weirdest, most out of your
comfort zone thing you've eaten? Anddid someone have to trick you into doing
it? So I think life trickedme into mind. I've eaten like fried
crickets before, I've eaten chocolate coveredbugs before, things like that. It
doesn't really bother me. I loveall seafood. We ordered fried squid calamari
at the Italian restaurant. I atethe I love the little time Ye squid
(21:30):
of Madrid so good. But thething that I feel like my entire culture
life bringing up tricked me about washagis. Oh, the traditional Scottish dish
of hagis. If you're unaware asI was when I put it in my
mouth, what haggis is. It'sit's a pudding that is comprised of a
sheep's heart, liver, and lungs, all mixed together until it's like a
(21:52):
paste. And then they stuffed thatinside of a sheep stomach and then they
cook it and then they serve itto you. By the way, not
just Scottish. I think anybody ofa certain age that had depression air apparents
knows that you eat everything, youdo not waste anything. No, so
hagis to me. I was like, oh, you know Scottish, So
I'm want to eat this. AndI ate it and it was disgusting and
(22:14):
I didn't like it, but Ithought in my head, I'm like,
oh, sort of like liver patie. I'm not a big fan of any
of that either. And then theytold me it was like oh no,
but it's got heart and it's gotlungs, and I'm yeah, and it
came in a stomach. I'm like, none of this made it any better
at all. So would you believethat? From age like four until full
teen years, I lived for liverpeate really because I didn't know what it
(22:34):
was. My grandma, Oh mygosh, my grandma to Hoogie would get
it every time we'd go to grossPoint, and I live for bread crackers,
pretzels. And it wasn't n tillater and I was like, I'm
eating what six one six four eightone oh? Five seven. Do you
have like a weird dish that's afamily tradition, something you ate and loved,
(22:55):
something you ate and didn't find outwhat it was until later four or
five eight one o five seven? How have you snuffed those weird foods into
your life? You know, wegot a big Polish population here, smiddy
that duck blood soup comes out withmy father in law's family. Oh well,
have it a Thanksgiving yepine. Theseare the current events that you really
got to keep up with headlines onStar one oh five point seven. Go
(23:17):
ahead and kick us off with thefirstdbine. Yeah, this one had me
turning my head. The playboy parrotflew the coop for the weekend. Yes,
apparently there were a lot of animalsthat Hugh Hefner also housed at his
infamous mansion that are still being caredfor. And somehow they say do to
a Santa Anna gust one of theprized parrots got out. La Fire Department
(23:38):
had to respond to the La CountyCountry Club to get it out of a
tree. Well, I hope it'sa talking parrot, because that thing has
seen That's lots of stories, lotsof stories, huh, Schmidty, this
could only happen in Florida. Floridaman reportedly has five alligators in his bathtub.
I yes, A anonymous call wasmade to Florida dept. Who searched
(24:00):
Florida man's home to find five youngalligators hanging out in his bathtub. Schmidty,
that's what we call a Florida fishbowl. I'm pretty sure, honestly,
not even close to a weird storyfor Florida. Adbye. Washington, DC
CVS's have replaced shelves of toilet paperwith framed photos of the product because of
(24:22):
rising theft. This photo has gonespral because you walk into this CBS and
half of the store are just framedpictures of the products and you have to
go up to the counter to getthemedine. Schmiddy. Crew aboard US bound
plane discovered a missing window pane atthirteen thousand y This is horrifying. Yes,
(24:42):
a passengers said the cabin seems noisierand colder than they were used to
when a crew member noticed that awindow seal was flapping in the back of
the aircraft. How is it thatyou can notice whether every single person on
the plane has got their tray inan upright position, but you don't notice
a missing window. Oh boy,A deer rampaged through a Lancing lingerie store.
(25:08):
We've seen we've seen these stories before, right this time it was a
grown buck that made its way intocurvaceous lingerie Lancing's Old Town. The deer
ran around the store, destroying lingeriedisplay stands, even busting into a changing
room with a customer inside, asif a nice, healthy buck wasn't attractive
(25:32):
enough to hunter Schmitty. Four chargedin stealing gold toilet Did you see this
one? Four men charged on Mondayfor stealing an eighteen carrot gold toilet from
the mansion where Winston Churchill was born. The toilet is called America, I
mean solid British toilet humor right there. Best of all, Schmitty said,
(25:52):
when the toilet was on display, visitors could book a three minute appointment with
this. I've seen a documentary aboutit. We're very, very proud of
that golden toilet. For all yourheadlines and send them our away. A's
West Michigan, Star movies, musicand all the gossip in one place.
It's the celebrities goop on Star oneoh five point seven. Well Britney Spears's
(26:15):
memoir The Woman in Me has beena hit, selling over one point one
million copies just in the US throughits first week, So not surprising we're
hearing the memoir could be headed tothe big screen. Huge names are set
to bid on rights to the book. Margot Robbie Brad Pitt, Reese,
Witherspoon, even Shonda Rhymes are amongjust some of the power players in Hollywood
(26:40):
set to bid somewhere in the mideight figures range, it's being reported,
for the rights to The Woman inMe. Now, it's interesting Shonda could
have a little bit of a legup here because what you might not know
is she is the one that famouslywrote the screenplay for Crossroads, that two
thousand and two film that starred Brittany. Interesting. I mean, I could
see it being a pretty big movie, especially if he got some other big
(27:02):
names behind it too. Who wouldplay Timberlake, I don't know, be
interesting to see who they would throwin some of those It would be a
no name person. Yeah, that'sgetting a very first start on it.
Speaking of Brittany, sharing a reallycute throwback of her and Taylor Swift over
the weekend, Now naturally, theSwifties were going wild after Travis Kelcey was
spotted at Taylor's Argentina stop on Saturdaynight, the two even making out.
(27:26):
Spotted at a restaurant together, shechanged the lyrics of karam Off for him,
so late Saturday night, Brittany posteda really cute picture of her and
Taylor back in two thousand and three, saying, this was during my OOPS
tour. I got a knock atmy door and my good friend at the
time was the assistant to my managerwho was trying to become a manager himself.
He said, I have a girlnamed Taylor who wants to come in
(27:48):
and sing for you. I waslike, of course, she sings this
beautiful song with her guitar, andI thought, wow, she is truly
unbelievable. That's when we took thispicture. And of course now she's the
most iconic woman of our generation.Kind of cool that she plays stadiums.
I even prefer her videos over regularmovies any day. Absolutely stunning, total
girl crush. I mean, that'san early moment. I'm mad crazy at
(28:11):
that time. Just be like,I'm Taylor and I would love to sing
for you, Miss Spears. Imean, it's like freshman year of high
school. Tailor's pretty wild. BarbaraStreisand is the reason that Aerosmith had their
nineteen ninety eight hit I Don't Wantto Miss a Thing. Now. This
is in Barb's new memoir, andit's very interesting. It was all due
to a little pillow talk. Soaccording to Barbara, her and then boyfriend
(28:34):
James Brolin were laying next to eachother in bed one night and they had
this kind of conversation where James said, I don't want to fall asleep.
She asked why. He replied, because I'll miss you. And Barbara said,
what a beautiful, poetic thing tosay. So a couple of years
later, she was doing an interviewwith Barbara Walters recounted that sweet moment,
(28:55):
and apparently Diane Warren was watching thisinterview. She was the one who wrote
Aerosmith's I Don't Want to Miss aThing, No What, which of course
became their first number one hit inninety eight. It was used in Armageddon,
even nominated for an Oscar. Wellthanks to barbar Streisand, I cannot
think about anything other than Bruce Willissaving the world every time. I love
this gosh and Finally, I thoughtthis was so cool a celeb sighting in
(29:17):

No way, Yes, it wasvery cool. I noticed this big shout
out to Chad Vaaraway at the intersection. He posted this yesterday. He said,
I'm still in shock that Valerie wasside stage watching her son and boy.

Ye, So this is incredible andI just love it. Having grown
up and lancing myself, we allknow about our hometown hero, Magic Urban
Magic Johnson and his Magic Johnson Foundationthat does so much for families. Once
again, on Saturday, the formerNBA star showed up to Lansing to host
his Holiday Hope for Families, givingout food, toys, personal care items,
(33:58):
and tons more to more than eighthundred Lancing families. Johnson is,
of course, an Everett High Schoolgrad before his NBA career took off,
and for him, he realizes thathe's in a very beautiful position and that
means it's time to give back, telling Wilex he never forgot about home.
Economy is not doing well right nowfinancially people are hurting. So how can
(34:24):
I, since I've been blessed tobe in this position, come back and
help some families out? And hehelped so many of those families. He
had more than one hundred and twentyvolunteers from churches and other Lancing organizations show
up to help as well, andhe tells Wilex, make no mistake,
this was a holiday homecoming for himas well. To see all my friends
(34:46):
here who I've been getting so manygreat hugs in high five, so it's
a blessing for me too. Yeah, if you want to learn more or
give to the Magic Johnson Foundation, they do things like this all year long.
You can check it out on Facebook. You know, not only one
of the greatest players of all time, but just a great human all the
way around. Absolutely all right, schwiddy, this is pretty powerful. Of
(35:07):
course, Saturday we celebrated Veterans' Dayand there is a program done by one
of the high schools here in Michiganthat I thought was a beautiful way of
making sure that every veteran is honoredwhen it comes time for their passing.
There is the Pallbearer Ministry Program Schmidteeat the University of Detroit Jesuit School,
(35:29):
where teenagers step up to serve aspallbearers for military veterans who didn't have any
family or who were homeless when theydied. So this actually started when six
seniors volunteered to do this back inOctober of twenty fifteen, and since then
they have continued to do this eachand every year since. One of the
(35:52):
members of the school just said thatassisting at their funeral or at their committal
and burial is a way of honoringtheir lives, even though we may never
have met them. But what anamazing thing to do for complete strangers,
to make sure that you pay thoserespects and give them the honor they deserve.
Incredible School feeling good comes at youtwice today. I always here to
pointing out the great things going onout in our world. We'll do it
(36:13):
again for you tomorrow. Come joinus at six forty five and nine someonet
to here on Star one oh fivepoint seven Mack and Schmidty in the morning
weekday starting at six am on Starone oh five point seven
