Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning at Schmidty, and we try to make you
feel a little better about having to get up at
this early hour. And in honor of Veterans' Day, yesterday
we saw so much recognition for the men and women
who have served our country have said yes to that call,
and sometimes that means the ultimate sacrifice, and one of
those veterans was officially honored yesterday. A portion of one

(00:24):
thirty one south of Big Rapids has now been dedicated
in honor of a US Army soldier who was killed
in the line of duty nearly two decades ago. Sergeant
Matthew Webber, originally from Stanwood, was injured when an improvised
explosive device on ied otherwise known as detonated in Iraq
in two thousand and six, passing away just over five

(00:46):
months later from his injuries.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Well, it's official.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
The stretch of highway alongside one thirty one from eleven
mile to Old State Road in Macosta Township will now
officially be known as the Sergent Matthew Weber Memorial Highway.
It was an amazing moment yesterday where we were reminded
of what Sergeant Weber has done for our country. Today
we salute a hero and tomorrow and we will continue

(01:12):
to live in the freedom that he preserved. Now, of course,
as I said, this comes very bittersweet. Andy Is, Sergeant
Matthew Weber's brother, talked to Wood TV about how tough
it still is to be without someone in the family.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Anytime we organize together and get together, there's always a
little bit of bitterness and sadness too, because it's not
just about the good things that are happening and remembering him,
but there's always a little piece of memories lost and
time lost and future lost.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Now, this is a very beautiful part of it. The
stretch of one point thirty one that is now known
as Sergeant Matthew Weber Memorial Highway includes a bridge over
the Muskegon River where the Weber family has a cabin
and has long since enjoyed kayaking, one of Sergent Weber's
most favorite activities. Once again, it cannot be said enough.

(02:04):
Thank you to each.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
And every service member for your service.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I've got the video West Michigan Star dot com and
we'll get you feeling good again.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
This morning at nine twenty

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
