It's Not The Holidays Without A Little Drama

We are West Michigan's official Christmas station. I'm Schmidty and
with the holidays comes the drama. I'm trying to look
at this unbiased because I'm a mom and this would
probably break my mama heart. But we've got a few
people that maybe think he's in the right. I got
this message from Curtis. He's planning to do with something

a little different next week for Thanksgiving. Hey, good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I've planning on doing something a little bit different this
year for Thanksgiving And instead of going to my family's house,
I'm glad to go to a friends giving instead of
like real Thanksgiving. Like sorry, mom, but you know, I'm
just close with my friends and like i wanted to
do something different this year.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well it's very different. And like I said, I'm trying
not to take this personally as a mom, but I've
got to think his mom is going to be absolutely heartbroken,
especially if this is a tradition. Right Like with my family,
we kind of trade off holidays between spouses, and Thanksgiving
is always the year we are or the holiday we
are all to get four. Do you think he's coming

a little too far? He can't just you know, move
friends Giving to another time. Make sure that I mean
she gave you life, sir six one six, four, five eight,
one oh five seven. What would you say if your
kid was bailing on Thanksgiving for a friends Giving? Got
Jamie listening and Byron Center?

Oh? I think not Kirk. I mean he's an adult.

I think he's probably spent. I would assume he's spent
a lot of you know, family Thanksgiving so far, and.

It's also his holiday, and I think.

You should be able to go and spend it with
the people if he'd like to see on the holiday.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Man, I feel like there's something deeper here, like who's
coming to family Thanksgiving that you don't want to see? Dude?

who's planning to head to friends giving instead of his
family's Thanksgiving, and I mentioned it as a mom would
kind of break my heart, but I'm trying to have

Oh beautiful, Raven. Okay, is this kind of a red flag?
What would you do if one of your family members
bailed on your family Thanksgiving for a friendsgiving?

Yeah? You know, I have a lot of friends that
you know, participate in friendsgiving. I think it's such a
subjective thing where it's like, what is that relationship? Like
what if Thanksgiving's been like in the past for that person,
Because if there's a lot of baggage there, then it's like, yeah,
I'm gonna go hang with my friends.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Raven. I think that's a beautiful piece of advice. There's
family and then there's chosen family.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Right, yeah, right, it's kind of where I'm I'm from.
