it's already being hailed as a major move from sexual
assault survivors. Five new bills are awaiting action in the
Michigan House that could reopen the doors to court for

thousands of survivors of sexual assault who were told long
ago their time to seek justice had run out. It's
a package of Senate bills two fifty seven through two
sixty one. They were passed earlier this year with bipartisan support.
It would extend the Statute of Limitations for civil lawsuits
involving sexual abuse. Supporters say the measures represent an overdue

correction to a system that has very often favored perpetrators
over victims. With that passing the Senate, the House will
begin conversation. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, of course
gearing up for opening day of rifle season or firearms

placing restrictions on fishing gear for three West Michigan ports

through the month of November. The DNR is banning single
pointed hooks at Grand Haven, Muskegan and the Whitehall Montague
Ports in order to help protect Lake whitefish. Surveys show
a large part of Lake whitefish harvest comes near those ports,

the announcement yesterday. They'll be helping with talent selection and
other major production elements. This is a multi year partnership.
