(00:23):
pick one, two or more.I'm sure they won't mind that, and
one of those charities is on theline with us right now. Please welcome
from the Angela Marada in Ho Foundation, sisters Allison and Jen in Ho,
the co founders. Hello, ladies, thanks for being here, Hi,
thanks for having me. Oh absolutelyNow, ladies, first and foremost,
before we get into the Birdies forCharity angle and how important it is to

(00:45):
you, guys, tell us aboutAngela Morada and this foundation, what it
means to you and how the publiccan help. Yeah. So, Jen
and I started this nonprofit in memoryof our moms, Angela Mrada and how
pass in twenty twenty one. FromStage four lung cancer. And she was

(01:06):
a man smoker, very active, you know, in great shape, and
very conscious of our health. Andso it was really really a shock to
us. And she was fortunate enoughto be treated up at Dana Farber in
Boston, and so she was youknow a big proponent of trying to reduce
the stigma and raise awareness for lungcancer because it's one of the least funded

(01:27):
for cancer research. So we justwanted to carry on that legacy and do
something to support, you know, others who may be diagnosed with this disease.
So we decided to start this nonprofitin her memory, and the donations
will go directly to her long oncologist, doctor MARKA. Wad his research fund,

(01:49):
and last year we actually pledged onehundred thousand dollars over five years to
donate to him. And then we'realso hoping to lend further support this year
to some action to a lung cancerpatient as well during Lung Cancer Awareness Month
in November. Yeah, you know, lung cancer, they used to call
it a silent killer because a lotof times when you would find unfortunately some
of the markings or the bumps orthe you know whatever, they're they're looking

(02:12):
for in some of these X rays, it's oftentimes caught a little later on,
and so they've come so far withtechnology and research and through organizations such
as the Angela morata Inho Foundation. Thanks to you guys putting money towards research.
You know, a lot of livesare saved. What an honor to
Angela. This is from the bothof you. What an honor to be
able to say that you're saving livesand doing such good and being so committed

(02:37):
to this. Tell me, tellme about what that means to you and
your legacy and your family. Yeah, sorry, it is. It's just
so important for us because our momwas such like a champion to the cause
while you know, during her threeyear battle, and so for us to
be able to continue it and justsee all the people who are willing to
rally around us and are always youknow, had such great connections with our

(02:58):
mom. She was such a peaceperson. She was always doing something out
in the community, especially the Hartfordarea and you know surrounding community. We
grew uprom Rocky Hill, so youknow, just all local around here,
and you know, for us tokind of see all the ways people are
coming together to support our mission andyou know, which is so personal to
us. But then you know,we have people that we meet just randomly

(03:20):
who have also been touched by cancerand to give them something to look forward
to and maybe you know, seethat people are working hard for this research
and preventative treatments and all of that. It just it really means a lot.
So it's been. Last year waswas awesome. It was our first
walk and we had almost three hundredpeople and we were able to send thirty
three thousand dollars to Dana Farber, which just blew our minds. Honestly,

(03:44):
we did not think that we could, you know, we were going to
get that far in year one.So we're really excited for the next you
know, this next year coming up. I'm excited for you both as well.
I mean, what an honor isto speak with you, and what
a great thing you're doing. Andnow let's talk about Berdie's for Charity and
these extra dollars right that, especiallyto a newer organization, you know,
built out of obviously you know, tragedy, now giving hope and now saving

(04:06):
lives. What do these dollars meanto you? It is so awesome.
We were just talking about it beforewe got on with you. We're almost
at an extra thousand dollars donated fromthe fifteen percent, and it's just amazing,
like knowing that all these people aredonating on behalf of us, but
then them also knowing, oh,we get an extra fifteen percent. It's

(04:30):
kind of a no brainer and ofcourse helps us in our mission and get
there a lot quicker. So weare grateful to be a part of it.
And it also is such a greatplatform because we're able to be seen
by way more people. Right,Like you said, it's a small nonprofit
we just started, so it justkind of gives us a larger platform and

(04:50):
larger voice as well. So we'rereally excited. Yeah, we're really excited
to be a part of it.All right, Well, let's tell people
how to get to you directly rightnow. So we we have a website.
You can go to www. DotAmi Dashfoundation dot com and if you
