(00:00):
I hear community is proud to bea part of Bertie's for Charity this year
with the Travelers Championship taking place atthe TPC River Highlands through June twenty third,
we will be out there in thefan zone from the seventeenth through end
of play supporting every single one ofthe nonprofits taking advantage of the Berdi's for
Charity program presented by Webster Bank, where these charities will earn fifteen percent on

(00:22):
every dollar donated. And one ofthose charities is on the line with us
right now, the CJK Foundation,Please welcome their executive director, Chrissy Dorsey.
Hi, Chrissy, how are you? I'm good, Thanks, how
are you excellent? And congratulations oncoming back to Birdie's for Charity. Very
exciting news, right, Yes,we're always excited to participate in this program.

(00:42):
Tell everybody about the CJK Foundation, who you are, how you help,
and even more importantly, how thepublic can help continue your mission.
Yeah. Absolutely. We started fiveyears ago with the basic idea of just
how can we best improve mental healthin Connecticut and we came up with the
idea of initially helping families and individualswho are seeking mental health treatment, better

(01:04):
afford their payments for copays and treatmentsthat are out of network and those types
of needs. So the main thingwe do is our co pay program,
where we do exactly that we helppeople who are seeking treatment be able to
either start, continue, or trysomething that maybe isn't covered by insurance.
And then outside of that, wehave our education and Research branch, which

(01:29):
is providing educational materials for the generalpublic so they know how to handle mental
health crisis, what they can dofor themselves to improve their mental health,
how to help a loved one.And then we support people going into the
mental health profession at three Connecticut institutions, so we help with scholarships while they're
working on their degree so they canget out into the field and do some
good work. How can we directlyfind you online social media? You know

(01:55):
where can we make instant donations orget more information even volunteer. Yeah,
so we're on Instagram and Facebook atCJK Foundation And then we have our website
which is JK dash Foundation dot org. The website is you know, filled
with all the different things we do, volunteer opportunities. It goes more in

(02:15):
depth into our program. It reallyhighlights our reachion program with just something we're
excited about, especially in May forMental Health Months, which encourages people to
reach out to one another instead ofexpecting those who are struggling, you know,
to contact us to just reach intothem, check in on your loved
ones, you know, send everybodya note, hey, how you doing.

(02:36):
And you can also donate on thatpage as well and find out you
know, what's upcoming for us interms of events and also how you can
participate with us in a way thatworks for you. And what are these
extra funds from Bertie Seer charity meanto an organization such as yours? And
they're just a huge help. Theyhelp us say yes to the people who
apply and that's you know, ourmain goal is for people who are working

(03:00):
toward improving their well being and strugglingto ease that financial burden and not have
that be an extra stress is hugeand so being able to be a part
of Bertie's for charity just let ussay yes more often or for larger amounts
and those types of things. Andwe're really looking this year in particular to

(03:23):
expand our programming into helping people whoare interested in equine therapy and family therapy
as a whole and things like that. So Bertie's for Chuarity just you know,
let us do that and let uscontinue to expand. You know,
each year we've grown in the pastfive years, and we're really thankful that
through our donors, through Bertie's forCharity, we've been able to kind of

(03:45):
stay on a consistent path of growthand being able to do more good in
the mental health community. And that'swhat being a part of Bertie's allows us
to do, is to really helpthe people who need it most. And
just for people listening and nonprofits, because we keep saying how easy it is
to take advantage of the bird Reaseefor Charity program presented by Webster Bank.
I mean, tell everybody how easyis it to do this program? Oh
my gosh, it's so easy. The tools that Verdies provide for the eat

(04:11):
from the easy setup then to youknow, helping with how guts to post
on your website, post on socialmedia, reach out with emails and get
other people involved, and the opportunitiesto show up to the course. You
know, this interview is just anawesome way to reach people that might not
be in your philanthropic networks to beginwith. And also, you know,
for us, it gets our messageout there that hey, if you're struggling

(04:34):
with mental health, you know there'san organization that is ready and willing to
help you. And the ease ofit is it's kind of you know,
it's silly not to participate because itreally isn't that much. You know,
it's not work with the Bank forthe Buck here is really really great.
I think that's I don't think anyonecould put it any easier or simpler than

(04:55):
it's silly not to participate. We'regoing to just totally coin that for the
rest of the tournament. That's whatwe're going to say. But honestly,
the work you do is just soimportant. And obviously mental health is so
important right now, and it's sucha concentrated pillar for so many organizations right
now because you know, the pandemic, even though they say we're out of
it, the lasting effects of thatand what it has done to our youth

(05:15):
and our seniors and so many people, and the isolation. It's just organizations
right right such as the CJK Foundation. You're so important to our society.
