Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you for listening to Community Access. My name is
Alison Demurz. Today my guests are Tom Butler, general manager
of Butler Equipment and Chris Palmer, Operations manager from Butler Equipment.
We have a great event going on. It's the Butler
Family second annual golf Tournament. It's at the Stanley Golf
Course in New Britain, September thirtieth on a Monday. Let's

(00:22):
talk about why was the Butler Family Foundation created in
the first place.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Well, we've been in Hartford, Connecticut for all our lives
and we wanted to give back to the community. There's
a lot of great foundations in the community. We wanted
to support a bunch of local communities, such as the
Nag Cancer Center at the Yukon Health Center that just started.
My father was diagnosed with leukemia and they did a
wonderful job helping my father through his care. Doctor Melvito

(00:47):
was a phenomenal doctor that my dad really really appreciated.
I think he's leading up the Nag Cancer Institute there
at Yukon.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
That's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
We support the Village of Family Services, which is a
two hundred year old mission to rebuild draw families. They
recently opened up the Crisis Center for Youth Mental Health,
which is very important in our family, and they're making
great strides there.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
So who was the person was it Big Bill that
started all of this?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
We started this in honor of Big Bill. He's a
great guy. He's a true horticulturalist and entrepreneur, and he
wanted to start a scholarship fund for students for two
and four year programs at College for Agriscience. It's been
important to our family to continue to give back. We
also do the Laila Lynn Bober Foundation. Wonderful four year
old girl who unfortunately passed away from a bacterial infection

(01:34):
and she was just a proud kid who loved sports.
And so this family gives back to kids that couldn't
play sports because they can't afford the sports equipment, and
so they give them to the families in need. Great, great,
great causes.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So these are all of the reasons why you do
the golf tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yes, the golf tournament is a big piece of our
fundraising for our foundation.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Let's talk about the tournaments.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Basically, registration starts around eight o'clock in the morning. We're
having ten o'clock is our t off where we actually
will hit off from there. In between then we're having
a putting contest which will start as soon as you've
registered with us. Purchase raffle tickets, hang out. We've got
gift bags for everybody and a bunch of good things.
You got golf balls and towels and stuff like that,
all with our other Family Foundation logos on it. So

(02:20):
it's really nice little gift bags ever give. The putting
contest is actually a five thousand dollars cash putting contest
which will hopefully we're going to do it so we
get more revenue into the actual foundation through that, but
it's also a chance for people to win up to
five thousand dollars if they can sing about all so
it's really nice.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
What are some of the other contests.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
So we're having a hole in one contest, actually having
four of them. One is a twenty five thousand dollars
cash price, so if you hit it in in a
hole on one and it's you do it properly, then
you get twenty five thousand dollars cash. We're actually doing
a hun Dai skidstier, which is a wheel skitser which
is valued at well over eighty thousand dollars by itself.
So if you get a hole in one on a hole,
you get an day skits here just like that, also

(02:58):
an next Mark radius lawnmower zero turn for mowing. You know,
it's basically a semi commercial zero turn that we're going
to be able to give you if you get another
hole in one, as well as a Yanmar tractor which
actually will have a bucket loader and everything, which is
valued at about twenty two thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Wow, I didn't understand almost any of that. It was tractors, cars,
and it's.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
A tractor, it's a construction piece of equipment which is
a skitsier, and also a zero turn which is for
mowing lawns.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
And a cash price and a cash four hold on
one prizes.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
You Wow, that's awesome. What is the cost of the event.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
The cost event is for four golfers. It's one hundred
and fifty dollars and then gets you all inclusive with lunch,
It gets you dinner, it gets you in a happy hour,
gets you all included to all the golf and everything
all included with that all the contests.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
So you would need volunteers maybe to help out.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yes, we always need volunteers. We need people at the
holes to witness the actual hole in ones. That's part
of the what we need, as well as just overall
hanging out the gift bags, doing the registration stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Tell me about the sponsorship packages.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
So spons packages they value we call the diamond, the platinum,
and gold to We're looking for a meal sponsor, to
drink sponsor, so anyone that actually sponsors this. So if
you do like the drink sponsor, then while we're having
the happy hours, we'll have all the names and logos
and of the peaceful and we'll actually speak and say
thank you so much for the drinks for everybody as
well as the meal sponsor that we'll do that during

(04:22):
dinner that is provided right before the raffle prizes. So
and then we have diamond sponsorships, so that is if
you do actually do that, you get to actually eight
golfers that can golf into the league part of that
package deal as well as we'll announce them on the
radio ads that we have going on as well as
do logos and polos with their logos on there. And
then the packages go down from there all the way

(04:43):
down to a golf ball sponsorship, which if you will
take your logo, we'll actually print it on a golf
ball and we'll pass it out to all the golfers,
so the name is always there and as long as
they don't lose their ball, then we'll lose your logo.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
It's great advertiser, it really is. It's so smart. Tell
us about Butler Equipment for people who don't know about it.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Butler Wuopmen's been around in nineteen sixty eight. It's in
a family business. We fix and repair lawnmower, snowblowers, outdoor
power equipment, excavators, wheel loaders. We sell service and sell parts.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
And re rent equipment too, and everything that we sell here.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
And where are you located.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
We're in West Tarterick, Connecticut.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Back to the event for a moment. I'm sure you
would love donations. If people can't make it, of course,
and they can go to the Butler Family Foundation.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yes, there's a link on there just for donating, even
just donating fifty dollars, you know that goes a huge way. Obviously,
the more we get, the more we give back. So
there's a link right on our website. He says, donate
here and then you can just donate, which we've already
received a couple donations.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
And for those people who can't golf, you can just
come have dinner with us, enjoy the raffle prizes, have
a great dinner, and you can just sign up for
dinner as well at the Butler Familyfoundation dot com.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I honestly know a couple of women who landed husbands
at these events. They learned golf on purpose single women,
and then they went to these events and they met
nice guys and some of them actually got married.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
So we have a lot of single men golfers that
will be at the event. Yes, we also have single
women that will be at the event as well. Last
year was a great event. This year is even better.
Please come September thirtieth, sign up at the Butler Foundation
dot com and come on and enjoy great day. We're
gonna have a full course. We've got a lot of
people there, a lot of great prizes and it's just
go can be a great event.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So just to reiterate, the Butler Family Second Annual golf
Tournament is at the Stanley Golf Course on Monday, September
thirtieth in New Britain. Eight AM's registration. At ten is
the Shotgun tee off. There's lunch, dinner at five, awards
at six. It's all for several great causes. Again, go
to the Butlerfamilyfoundation dot com. Thank you both for being

(06:39):
here and for all of the great work that you
do in our community.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
