Speaker 3 (00:54):
Guys. Good, thank you guys for having me. You know,
I'm sure you guys are honored to have the best
mystery of all time on your show.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I think we are.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
And also the best mustache of all time in wrestling.
So let's just go ahead and bullet there and mullet,
mullet and mullet.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I'm trying to get there like you, but I've got
some I got some ways to go.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
It's okay. The awkward phase is a little you know,
you just got to pull through.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I'm kind of like phase at the moment. This is
like the Joe dirt redneck face. So I'm trying to
get to that that domb uh you know, uh mullet face.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
So we'll see how that plays out.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
But I'm gonna try. I'm gonna try. So let let's
kind of talk about this for a second. You know,
over the past couple of years, you transition from being
known as Ray Mysterio Junior son to establishing your own
identity in w w uh. What challenges have you faced
during this journey and how have you worked overcome them?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Man, there's there's been multiple challenges, you know, from even
just beginning my training to little hiccups I had in
every place I stopped that there was living in Tampa,
living in Canada, back in San Diego. Like I always
there's always struggles. But I think one of the biggest
things for me was not having to worry about, you know,
(02:12):
the name and the legacy, right because I feel like
everyone gets so caught up with that. Like every time
I saw someone or my deadbeat told them, oh, yeah,
my son's training. You know. The first thing I always
heard was you got some big shoes to feel, kid,
And I'm like, and that was always the first thing
I heard. I mean, it was always just you know,
how are you going to fill it? Your dad's shoes?
But I tried not to think about it that way,
(02:34):
and like filling his shoes, I almost wanted to just
do me, you know, I wanted to create my own
path and I wanted to kind of do my best
to step away from him. But I think that was
one of my biggest struggles, is just having not to
have that in the back of my head, just you know,
you got some big shoes to feel, how are you
(02:54):
going to fill those shoes? Like You're never gonna be
a legend, But like your dad, and It's like I'm
four years in and I'm already bigger than him. I'm
already more of a legend than his is. I'm established
myself as the greatest mystery of all time. You know,
I can keep going on with my accolades. First on
the main event and nixt t raw and SmackDown took
the North American title to actual all of North America
(03:17):
and Germany, like like everywhere Champions has been around the world,
you know, So like I think for me that was
that was a key part.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Yeah, that makes sense. And you know we always talk
about you know, nepo babies, and you know, in the
wrestling world that's not always a positive. You know, like
some people will box you in as your so and
so's kid, or you almost have to emulate their style
or moves or stuff. So sometimes that can work against you.
So it's it's been really awesome to see you kind
of become your own person. That's been very good speaking
(03:47):
of your own person. So let's talk about Judgment Day.
So Judgment Day has been comprised of superstars that are
just a well of knowledge, yourself included. How is being
a part of this group, you know, helped you grow
as a competitor and as a character in ww.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Oh man, I think Judgment Day all forms of the
Judgment Day, you know, because we started off with the
couple different people. Now we have a few different people in.
But I think everyone that's been through the Judgment Day
has has just been so helpful to me in their
own way. Right, I debuted in twenty twenty, so I
(04:28):
I'm going into my fifth year now. I don't have
much experience, you know, all my experiences visually through what
I've seen and what I've heard from other people. But
the fact that you know, guys like Damien Priest, guys
like Finn Balor even you know, I hate to give
her credit, but like we're ripley. Just the help and
the confidence that they gave me, like helping me come
(04:49):
up and helping me forget about my deadbeat dad and
then moving on from them, you have people like Carlito
coming in, Raquel, you got my wady to live Morgan.
So like I feel like even after we kicked out
Damien Priest and Rhea, we just became even closer and
(05:09):
live Raquel, Carle Jd, Finn. They've all just helped me
grow so much. You know, they all have so much experience,
from you know, being in the Indies to Finn being
in New Japan taking over New Japan, Like Finn's the
legend in his own way, you know. So the fact
that I can be in there with those guys and
just learn and pick their brains, it's it's honestly pretty
(05:32):
pretty amazing.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, absolutely, And of course you got the who's who
then you like you said, You've got a lot of
people inside that group with knowledge, I mean you think
about it. Just the knowledge of Carlito and Finn Balor
right there in itself is good to have on your
side for sure. And you know one thing that we've
always noticed when you watch on TV, and of course
you may hear it. When WW comes to the Bridge
(05:54):
Done Arena on February tenth for Monday Night Rap, the.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Booze like it was extremely loud.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
It was extremely deafiniting to where you couldn't barely hear
you when you had the mic in your hand. Is
there an adjustment process obviously for the noise level? And
do you thrive on that during your performances because it
seems like the booze have now not been as loud
for you, but it's now for the New Day.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, I mean I the New Day can keep trying.
You know, they're they're what thirty forty years in and
they're trying to catch up to me. So we'll let
those We'll let those old geezers keep trying. Yeah, But honestly,
it's it's surreal, man. The adjustment was huge for me
(06:40):
because I didn't understand like what to do or how
to handle it. I never everything. Everything has been new
for me from start to finish. I'm always constantly learning
on the job, adapting, just trying to be the best
version of myself. So like when I started getting booed,
(07:02):
I didn't I didn't understand, like I thought I had
to couple promos. I thought I had to speak. And
there was just a few guys, Triple H being one
of them, just helping me out on how to manage
all of that right, how to control the booze, how
to just do what I have to do right. So
I think it started off to where like I wouldn't panic,
(07:24):
but it was like I have to say these things.
And now it's like you guys don't want to hear
me talk, like you're the ones missing out because I
got some It's been like two and a half years
since I've been able to say anything, right, you know,
like coming on to three years now, So like it's
kind of th real, like we're we're an unprecedented water receiver. Yeah,
(07:44):
so it's it's kind of cool to see.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Yeah, it's uh, it's it's incredible really. So, you know,
talking about Judgment Day, you know, they're always in the
storylines and always a focal point on TV with the
recent storylines and kind of these power struggles. I mean,
where do you see yourself currently in the hierarchy of
Judgment Day? I mean, have we decided on a true leader?
(08:08):
Do you see yourself maybe trying to like really solidify
yourself and go on a singles run or something like?
Where do you see yourself currently?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
I mean the thing about this new Judgment Day was
there was no leaders, right, there is no leaders. That's
that's kind of been our thing. But I don't know, man,
it's it's it's kind of it's it's hard to say
because you know, we had fit we have fin knacking
up every now and then, but as far as it
(08:40):
goes with with the Judgment Day, and man, I don't
really know. I feel like it's kind of you got
me there.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yeah, yeah, well it's it's a it's an unusual.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Time, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah, yeah, definitely definitely, And of course, uh, the time
is coming up very very soon. H February tenth, Bridge
Down Arena WW returns to Nashville Monday night, Raw Live
on Netflix, which, by the way, you can still grab
tickets ticketmaster dot com. One thing that we have been
noticing as we watch every week is uh, I guess
(09:16):
the situation between you and and Liv Morgan and you know,
unfortunately Live lost her title and now she seems to.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Be, shall we say, a little colder towards you recently.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Any any update, like where do you guys stand at
the moment, because I mean, I've been in this position
before where your significant other is very upset with you
and seems like you're kind of in the doghouse.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
But any anything you can share with us, She says
she wasn't mad.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
You know that's true.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
I believe her.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I tried to explain to her that what happened with
the whole thing three you was cute. I haven't had
a chance to explain myself. So here I go. Right,
she has her back turned in my head. We had
a we had a plan, right. The plan was, I'm
gonna steal this fucking title. Sorry, okay, I'm I'm gonna
steal this thing and we're gonna run away. And you
(10:13):
just went through that whole match, so I'll meet you
somewhere with the title. Right. My plan was I'm gonna
snatch this thing, and she's not. She can cry about it. Well, Hi,
she ain't gonna have a title, so the worst thing
they're gonna have to do is either give her a
new one or she's gonna have to keep chasing us.
So I was like in, like I said, it sounded
like a good plan. I was prepared for the worst,
and the worst happened, so I was slide in there,
(10:36):
take the title. She'd hit me a couple of times,
so I wasn't planning on hitting her back. But you know,
if she happened to trip and fall while I stole
the title, you know, so be it. But that was
the plan that didn't really go on how I wanted
it to happen. She kind of like the ring is
very you know, it's very sensitive, so soon as someone
(10:57):
slides in or something, you can feel it right away.
Assume her evil spidy senses were tingling, and she just yeah,
she she wanted to kick me in the balls for
some reason. Because I chose, I chose to live over.
Her lives way better. So she's got upset, but whatever,
lives not mad at me, though we're still we're still
(11:17):
working through that. She's you know, I got you.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Yeah, Well, hey, if you need to when you're in
Nashville if you need to take her out somewhere fancy
to kind of make sure she's really not mad at you.
Down the street from Bridgestone, there's a place called Bob's
Steak and Chop House. Fantastic, by the way, great chicken tenders.
Across the street from Bridgestone over at Hattiees at Fifth
and Broad.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
So oh, I love Hattie Bees.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yeah, what do you How do you.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Get it like a certain heat in as to it
or do you just get regular?
Speaker 3 (11:46):
So I the first time I had Hattie Bees was
in I believe, Alabama with one of my buddies, and man,
it was life changing. Likes the crispiness of the chicken
and the cake like he was just so good. I
don't remember the spiciness because I but I remember I
went one below this like.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
The super hot smart move because if you if you
get the the shut the cluck up is what it is.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yes, you cannot taste anything after eating that. You're done.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
No, my buddy ate it because he has like, uh,
like some dead taste buds or something. So the only
way he can like actually taste certain things is like
eat super spicy food. So I cut off a little
piece and bit into it. Oh my god, and a
Mexican dude, I can, I can hand right right? Not
that that was you gotta enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
I would like to.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, like you said, I would like to enjoy tasting
my food. We did a thing here where we everybody had,
as punishment, had to eat one of those tenders.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
I was.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
I had to call out of work the next day
because I was that miserable for one tender.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
And if I'm having to cry while eating, I'm not
doing it. Yeah, not whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
You gotta enjoy your tends, dude, the one, one time
taste and yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
It's it's done though, So of course, you know, we
got to talk about some really cool things. Recently, WWE
made the announcement about the multi year deal with TNA.
Normally in the past, WWE kind of stayed in their
own sandbox, but it now seems that everybody is getting
to play with WWE. What do you think this means
for business with WWE working with another wrestling company? And
(13:22):
is there anyone on that TNA rossa that you'd like
to step in the ring with.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
You know, I can't say I'm I'm too focused on
anybody in TNA. But but I don't like to say
his name. But I think we know who we're talking about.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
We know we're not gonna say his name because he'll
probably just show up behind me on the screen somewhere.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
I'm not gonna say his name. He just he beat Dolph.
I've beaten Dolf, so yeah, I'll just leave that at that.
That could be interesting. But as far as WWE being
able to, like you said, they're always in their own sandbox.
They never really played well with others, as some might say.
(14:06):
But I think this is huge. You know, this is
such an amazing opportunity for not only ww for TNA.
You know, I I grew up watching all sorts of wrestling.
You know, my godfather Conan was on UH on Impact
doing the lax, you know, so like I like, I
grew up on that on those guys and and seeing
(14:29):
that like suicide and you know, Christopher Daniels and all
those guys, like it's it. It was. It was crazy, right,
So now being able to go back and now we're
you know, in cahoots with them, like that's that's pretty cool. Dude.
I'd love to show up on TNA, you know, like
why why not. I'd love to go and take overy.
(14:52):
I just went down that next and to go over
at next, so why not go down to TNA and
take over TNA.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
You know, you know, and you're speaking of lax mister Mike.
Santana is killing it in ten A right now. Yeah, yeah,
I could see you too, maybe Tang going.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
You know, he's Puerto Rican. I'm Mexican, so there's definitely
a I've had some issues with Puerto Ricans in the past.
That is correct, ye, being Damien Priest, and it's not
like he hides being Puerto Rican. Dude has a tattooed
on him. He wears a Puerto Rican flag shirt every
day that he can, so he makes it well, Yeah,
(15:26):
for sure. I don't know. I don't know if Santana
is going to have a problem with me, but that's
something we'll have to wait and see in the future.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Just thinking about that, that's going to be incredible.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I know we don't have much time left with you
because I know you got some other things to do,
so we've got one last question. We always like to
have fun towards the end of these episodes, and uh,
you know, my my seven year old is a big,
big wrestling fan, and he always likes to send some
sort of item with me when we have wrestlers on it.
And of course he has all the Wrestling Action figures
(15:58):
and whatnot, and so he wanted me to send both
of his DOM figures with me so he could show
you that, yes, you still have the tag titles. And
uh he actually had a sharpie that he was drawling
over the shirt because this is your She's my Mommy shirt,
So he was starting to drawl over that.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
So he was like, he's not with her anymore.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
You seem like you seem like you're not a deadbeat.
You got your son some Dominic Mystery Action figures. Yeah,
good on you.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
You know he picked h he picked the dom Action
figures over ray when we were in there one day, so,
uh so I wanted to bring those over and show
it to you.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
But last question before we let you go.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
This is always a fun one because you get to
kind of be creative on this one. But if you
had a microphone in your hand and you're face to
face with a w w E legend, who would it
be and what would you say to make it a
memorable moment.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
With the legend?
Speaker 1 (16:58):
I mean, you've already done it with your dad and
you've you've already you know, pushed that one out.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
I don't even consider it a legend. He's just because
I'm better than him. Man, that's a hard one. You know.
Maybe I gotta I'll throw I'll throw a couple out there.
I like, I like the rock just to ask him
like why, you know, m M, why Sina? Because I
(17:26):
have a personal vendetta against Sina that he did something
to me that was that didn't I didn't sit with
me very well. So I'd like to ask him about
that and he knows what I'm talking about. I'm gonna
go rock see And then you know, I've always had
I've always I've always been a big Ricky Steamboat guy.
(17:50):
So I'd love I'd love to get in Ricky the
Dragon Steamboat's face and just look at him and ask
him be like, Hey, how did you do that arm drag?
Because mine's way better than yours. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
There's some words.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, pretty solid stuff right there.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Well, Dominic, it's a it's an honor and a privilege
to have you on the show again. Monday Night Raw
in Nashville, Bridge, und Arena February tenth. Tickets still available
ticketmaster dot com. Can't wait to see you in Nashville.
Maybe we can go get Hattie Bees after the show.
One you're intenn have some Hatti Bees. We'll actually not
cry while eating it this time.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
There go, Yes, that's the plan. Dom. It's an honor
and a privilege to have you on the show, sir.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Thank you boys,
