this week we'll hit on that alittle bit later, but this is another
(01:10):
edition of Beef up Front. You'reone stop shot for all things college football.
Before you hit send on any ofthose NC double A wagers, trust
me, you better press play hereas always leader of the Pack, Ryan
Coyle, I am sean brace Ryan. A good evening, sir, as
everybody's listening to us right now.A big week of college football in front
(01:33):
of us, with a six gamewhere all six are ranked opponents like this
is a huge card on Saturday.I love a couple games on Friday and
even Thursday night's got some potential aswell. A good evening, sir.
Yeah, this is the weekend sewnother than you know, week zero,
week one officially getting kicked off. This is the one I've had highlighted on
(01:55):
my calendar dating back to the offseason. And now we even got a few
more games where a few teams areout there surprising, and we got even
a few more ranked, ranked matchups. But Florida State Clemson, that was
really the big game of the week. Clemson's kind of sputtered out of the
gate. They're actually not even rankedthis week, which is weird to see.
But then you got the big NotreDame Ohio State game as well,
So some huge brands this week, some of the biggest brands in college football
(02:16):
swearing off, and we're going tofind out what direction I think some of
these teams are going, whether they'regoing to be pretenders or whether they're going
to be legit playoff threats down theline. Not only is Clemson not ranked,
they're not favored at home against FloridaState, and the look aheadline from
the summer at Clemson favored by twoand a half Flip the script. Here
we are on a Saturday, kickingthings off at noon with that huge ACC
(02:39):
matchup, and Florida State is atwo and a half point favorite on the
road at Clemson. It's been along time since Florida State was favored favored
at at Clemson. Ryan, let'sgo ahead and just real quick your thoughts
from last week. A few gamesthat maybe stood out to you that we
discussed, you know, leading intowe put so much work and effort into
trying to find the edge and hopefullya winner or two. I know you
(03:01):
did as well last week. Menot so much in the early part,
but in the end of the evening, I feel like I couldn't miss.
Let's go ahead and start with Floridaand Tennessee. Florida too many points at
home. They were by far thebetter squad. Really tough for Tennessee to
go in there and come away witha dub. Yeah, that was a
big game with the trends, orit was since two thousand and three Tennessee
(03:22):
hadn't gone to the swamp and oneand sixteen out of the past eighteen Tennessee
had won themselves out a right orexcuse me, Florida had won sixteen out
of those past eighteen in that rivalry. So trends were certainly on Florida side
and that one, and they tookadvantage of that, and I think they
might have built some of what ofan identity for themselves. Graham Martz isn't
going to be the quarterback that goesout there and throws for three hundred yards
(03:44):
and lights it up like some ofthese Pac twelve guys have been, but
up front at the line of scrimmageand in the running game, they showed
that they could push Tennessee around, and they made Tennessee looks off. They
ran all over them. They shutdown that passing attack, and now they
kind of got some hope I thinkgoing for the rest of the season,
because that's what we talk about lastweek. You go out there, you
dominate Tennessee, you win that game. You want to know an SEC play.
No one cares about that Utah gameanymore. And now you got full
(04:08):
steam ahead, everything going in theright direction confidence wise. Let's go make
some plays now in the SEC Eastwhere they have a shot to kind of
be that next team I think behindGeorgia. And we saw Georgia two last
week not looking like they're they're dominantself. I was all over South Carolina
plus twenty seven and a half andthey struck some real fear into Georgia's eyes
(04:29):
going into the fourth quarter. Sothe the SEC East I think is wide
open. Behind Georgia, they're stillobviously the top dog, but there's room
now for Florida to kind of getback there. And what was after week
one looking like a potential loss seasonand Billy Napier already being written off,
now they got a full seam aheadmomentum going. So that was the I
think the biggest overall win of theweekend. We'll talk more about Utah and
(04:50):
that home field avantage that they possessed, because it was really tough to ask
Florida to go up there and winWeek one I did. Didn't happen.
We got a re visit that ofcourse, UCLA in Utah. Other items
from a Saturday last weekend and allthings college football. Sixty one yard walk
off. If I'm not mistaken,Missouri over Kansas State. That was exciting.
(05:12):
Penn State though, let me getyour thoughts on Penn State holding it
down against Illinois. I didn't thinkAller played all that well defensively, they
stepped up in a big way.If Penn State's able to bring that type
of defense with the potential that theypossess an offense, they very well could
win the Big Ten. Yeah, that's what we talked about last week as
well. Sean. I think goinginto it, my big concern or not
(05:34):
even concern, but what I wantedto see was Howes drew Aller or face
off on the road, his firsttrue road start as a Big Ten quarterback.
You know, Illinois wants to kindof slow it down and muck it
up and make it an ugly game, and they did just that. He
only went sixteen of thirty three fortwo hundred eight yards. But the big
thing was he didn't throw any interceptions, he didn't turn the football over.
(05:54):
They had two rushing touchdowns from therunning backs. They had forced Luke Altmeyer
into four interset he eventually got benchedfor John Paddock later on in the game.
So that defense is legit. Andthat's the thing I like most about
this Penn State team. They canwin either way, and last week's just
another way of showing it. Wesaw them. I know it was only
against Delaware, but went out andput up sixty three points. They went
(06:15):
up and put thirty one points upagainst the West Virginia team that held Pit
last week to only six points. So they can go out there and they
can put up some points, orthey can win games where if the offense
and the passing game isn't clicking, that defense and the running game is good
enough to withstand some of these uglygames. And I think that's what they're
going to kind of be in storefor this week as well, with an
Eyewa team that, as we know, doesn't exactly light up the offensive scoreboard
(06:38):
out there, but they are goingto win games with the beef up runt
at the line of scrimmage and getsome defensive plays as well. So this
is another good test for Drew Aller, and we talked about this last week
a little bit. You win this, you get past this, you're going
to be six and oh heading intothe Ohio State game with Northwestern UMass up
next. So another good test forhim, and I do want to see
(06:59):
a little bit more out of himin the passing game. If they can
eventually go and beat o Highest State, they're gonna need to be able to
throw the ball around a little bit. Beef up front, Ryan Cole thirty
five on socials, Beef upfront tobe able to find on socials as well.
From the podcast perspective, all right, we're gonna mix the two because
the biggest story in college football is, of course Colorado and Dion. Last
(07:21):
week, I struggle, Ryan,I said it on air all throughout the
course of the week on a dailyticket. I look at Colorado from a
gambling lens. I love it,Don't get me wrong, dude, I
was a big time Dion fan growingup. Of course I had the bandana
even I think there was one yearwhere he played for the forty nine ers
and he rocked a headband. Thinkabout this at Nike headband around the neck.
(07:44):
I'm pretty sure if you go backin time look at some of those
pictures, you might see that maybethat I was rocking at a practice,
never in a game, but atpractice. But bottom mine is this huge
fan of Dion and everything it bringsto the table. Shador is unbelievable.
I look at it from a gamblinglens. There are twenty four point favorites
against the team that they said theywere taking it personnel. They barely squeaked
(08:05):
out that win. I know it'sexciting, and watch out if Deon stays
and he continues to get the recruitsand he's adding Warren Sapp to the coaching
step next year, It's going tocontinue to be a story. But when
it comes down to it, theycame up small. Your thoughts on last
week against Colorado State and then let'shit the fast forward button? Fourteen points
(08:26):
spread two weeks leading up to thisgame now twenty one Travis Hunter out.
You know how big of a rolehe plays on both sides Oregon minus twenty
one at home. Your thoughts onthat game? First things? First,
though last week and versus Colorado State. I'm just amazed at the way that
Dion and Colorado have been able tojust take over at the country. Just
(08:48):
listening to other podcasts, like there'sone I was listening to they said They're
at A guy was at a parkin Boston and he heard two moms talking
about Deon Sanders and Colorado. Andthen I was at I was at the
bar last week and everyone was gluedto the TV for Colorado Colorado State like
it was the Super Bowl. Likeif you said that twelve months ago,
(09:09):
or even six weeks ago, Iwould have looked at you like you had
ten aheads. No one would havecared about that game. But it's just
crazy how they've really taken over theentire sport and just really have become must
watch TV. They're going to bemust watch TV again on Saturday. But
I think there is a little bitof the wheels starting to fall off with
this team. They got the hypetrain going, they had the momentum at
(09:31):
the beginning, but the issues thateveryone talked about throughout the off season I
think are going to slowly start tocome to fruition. We're already seeing with
Travis Hunter, this team just doesn'thave the depth and the guys talent wise
to just make a run at thisthing. You're gonna lose guys throughout the
season. They don't really have peopleto fill in right now. That's what
you're saying, though. He Deon'sgonna get the guys, gonna get the
(09:52):
recruits. All this publicity, whywouldn't you want to go and playing Boulder
right now? And that that stadium, the atmosphere looks sick to be a
part of. But those guys aren'tgoing to be able to help you this
year. And I think that's theproblem with this Colorado team. Why at
the end of the day, they'llprobably be i'd say a seven and five
team by the end of it.And I think we start to see them
kind of get mismatched a little bitbecause the rest of their schedule in the
(10:15):
Pac twelve is going to be tough. Back to back week's Organ USC,
I just think Organ is much moretalented from top to bottom. And when
you look offense wise, this wasthe stat that really stuck out to me
the most. This Organ team's averagingfive hundred eighty seven yards per game on
offense, three hundred and fifty seventhrough the air in two hundred twenty nine
on the ground, So talk aboutbalance with this team, they can hurt
(10:39):
you on the ground. Bo Nickshas more experienced than basically any other quarterback
in college football. He can goout there and beat you with his arm.
Colorado's only averaging four injury or they'reexcuse me. They're averaging four injur
eighteen passing yards per game, butonly sixty one rushing yards per game.
This is a completely one dimensional team, and organ is going to be so
much better up front in the lineof scrimmage. They're able to just shut
down that running game, make makethem completely one dimensional where Shador has to
(11:03):
go out there and throw for fivehundred yards just have a shot in this
one. It's going to be along day. So I think this is
the first time we really see Coloradosare at a disadvantage and the mismatches start
to come into fruition. But westart we started to see that last week
against Colorado State. Thing's only goingto get worse from here, but they're
going to be tough. They're goingto fight, and Dionne has showed that
(11:26):
he can coach these guys up withthe best of them, so never rule
them out. Twenty and a halfstill a big number, and we saw
the last time they were twenty anda half point dogs. But I'm not
feeling comfortable, comfortable and confident enoughto say that they have a chance to
win this football game. All right. Follow up, of course, we
gotta come with the almighty equalizer.Let's just call it twenty one. I
know DraftKings had a flash at twentyone for pretty much the course the full
(11:46):
course of the day here today aswe're recording this. And second, I
want to ask you the difference inthe spread that Travis Hunter makes right like
going into this game, as Isaid last week, up into Saturday afternoon
before the game kicked off. Gamewent off at ten o'clock. Oh,
by the way, most stream gameand ESPN history top five ever on television.
(12:09):
It was a ten o'clock game betweenColorado and Colorado State. That's just
madness. But Mountain West team toColorado win four games last year. I
don't think they did our Colorado Yeah, yeah, maybe one and eleven,
two and ten. It's crazy anyways, So Travis Hunter does he move the
(12:31):
line that much? Or is thisa matter of Oregon looked impressive last week
and all three weeks at they're threeand zero and bo nix and they're throwing
up crooked numbers. I know it'sgonna be tough. As you said,
they'll fight, though, I believeDion has enough talent on that squad.
I'll tell you right now, TravisHunter was there, and you're giving me
twenty one. I'm taking twenty oneall day fourteen. I'm thinking twice about
(12:52):
it. I'm actually looking at theteam total from Oregon's perspective. I do
believe they throw up points, asyou said, with the defense all that
on Colorado not being all that muchthere, I think they're gonna I think
Colorado's walking into a buzz saw,as they say. But Travis Hunter,
know what type of difference does hemake to the point spread? And as
far as what we're talking about withyou know, Colorado and Oregon and the
(13:16):
fourteen point spread, would that bea difference in your mind? I think
if Shador was out instead of TravisHunter, it makes a much bigger difference
than the spread because he's the guythat's touching the ball every play. Travis,
he plays both ways. That's obviouslya very welcome asset for a team
that is lacking playmakers on both sides. But I but he can only make
(13:37):
so much of an impact. He'sa corner. It's not like he's dropping
back to throw every play, sohe has somewhat of a limited role.
I think in this spread, Ithink it would probably been, you know,
maybe a two and a half threepoint line move with that. But
I think they saw what we sawwhere they're not as good as advertised,
certainly to the public. And Ithink this is going to be a year
where very Vegas is going to berooting against in Colorado every game because it
(14:01):
feels like everyone's just gonna be ontheir side trying to take him. Like
you you bet. There's going tobe a lot of tickets this week on
Colorado money Line because people are like, oh, you can't. You can't
be a twenty and a half, twenty one point dog in this in this
spot. They got this, wecan we can make rich money off of
this. There's gonna be a lotof money on Colorado all week. But
I that's ships sailed. That shipis sailed. That was there for for
(14:24):
Nebraska, that was there for TCU, and they got lucky against TCU,
but hey, look they came outon top. That ship is sailed.
They're not going in to Oregon comingaway with the victory outright. Yeah,
it's just I think that the talentdiscrepancy is going to start catching up to
them, but it's it's still gonnabe a fun product and damn well,
you know we'll be there watching it. So until proven otherwise, and unless
(14:46):
Shador Sanders comes off the field,I think they're going to be in every
game and have a shot. He'sthat good and he can elevate the guys
around him. But it's gonna befun to watch him go head to head
with Bonnicks and Caleb Williams and see, really, is he that Jake,
Because if he is, he canplay himself right up there, I think
to that quarterback two spot behind KaylebWilliams. In the long run. Yeah,
(15:07):
well, we're going to see alot that just molds and takes shape
over the next two to three weeks. In college football, as always,
the saying is it works a cellphone. Right. We know that with
the College Football playoff for the fourspots next year might be a little bit
more difficult with the twelve, butbottom line is the heisman all these awards,
they work themselves out and contended versuspretender. I give all the credit
(15:28):
in the world. It's been agreat start to this Dion situation in Colorado.
One question I want to ask youis how long does he stay there.
I'm not trying to pour cold wateron this, but we gotta be
honest with this. It's a dogeat dog world. The almighty dollar controls
all. I know he's doing wellin Colorado, but he can do better
(15:48):
off in other spots. We allknow that we're no dummies, and he's
like Taylor Swift. The economy thathe's brought or the the you know,
the spike in economy that he hasbrought to Boulder, It's documented, it's
out there. So my point is, what if I don't know, gains
Well calls or Texas A and Mwho spend all that money on Jimbo Fisher.
(16:11):
What if it's not his season,or what if they get rid of
him at the end of this year, which could very well take place places
with big pockets. What if theycalled don this offseason? What does he
say? Well, I just wantto say too. At the beginning of
this It's funny. We're about fifteenminutes into this podcast now and we probably
spend half of it talking Dion Sanders. So you know that ads around the
(16:33):
country are having the same exact conversationright now, like what can we do
to get him there? I thinkhe'll stick it out at least this year
or for the next season if especiallyif Shedor comes back, but just for
Travis Hunter as well. Just letme stop you, Let me stop you.
Shdor ain Stain. I don't knowhe was he was saying today.
He was saying, you can maketop ten pick. He was saying in
(16:56):
college, Dean was saying at himself, why he comes from the background,
all right, but if you mademe make a call right now, mil
Kuiper says, you're a top tenpick, You're a top ten pick.
I think he's gonna go top five. I said. I saw one drive
and I'm like, why is noone ever said anything about him? One
(17:17):
half against TC and I'm like, dude, like, how is he not
a top twenty pick in the NFL? I said it. So here we
are now, and it's only gonnaget better. He is so poised,
polished, smoothed, and his Deon'soffspring. How are you a general manager
gonna be there on draft day whereasa Green Bay I don't even know where
it is this upcoming season. Howare you gonna say, no, I'm
(17:40):
good, I'm gonna pass on Deon'skid. Are you out of your damn
mind? He's going top five thisyear? Well he stayed. That's a
good call by you because he's gotmoney. He's already driving around in rolls.
Royce tom Brady's texting him he doesn'tneed to go to the NFL to
the worst situation. But the NFL'sthe NFL. There's only thirty two teams
in the world. If you canget one of those starting spots as a
(18:00):
rookie quarterback, you go and getit. If he's drafted, he's going
to be starting day one. Ithink too though this year we could see
six or seven quarterbacks potentially going roundone, So I think it could be
a lot of what teams finished towardsthe top, because I think Deon's going
to try and drive that decision twoto make sure his son's going to the
(18:21):
right program, because who knows, maybe even Dehon doesn't want to stick around
college, wants to make that eventualjump to the NFL level. Don't rule
that out as well, either.I think you dog you it could happen,
because you've seen him go from thehigh school ranks to the FCS to
the FBS. Wouldn't surprised me,is especially if they keep winning games they
(18:41):
find themselves like a ten and twoseason, some desperate owner with deep pockets,
like you were saying, come calling, like who knows, maybe the
Saints or something like that get himdown in like New Orleans. I don't
know. That was like the firstteam up in my head. People were
saying that potentially the Falcons or something. But they're off to a two and
our start as well. But backto the year, what was the original
(19:02):
question? I meant, I know, well again, it's just let me
pain you down. It's twenty onepoint spread. Which way you going?
I'm thinking I'm taking Colorado with thespread. I'm taking Colorado with the spread.
But I do like the the over. I think Organ's going to go
out there and pour some points onthem. It's like seventy two and a
half right now, I believe,But I do think Colorado puts enough fight
them, and Dion's not going tolet them go over there and get rolled.
(19:22):
So I like them to potentially havelike a back toward cover situation.
But I am expecting a lot ofpoints in this one. Throw the ball
around the yard. I think organis able to put up fifty plus potentially
on this this defense. I like, where you what you just said?
Because the one play that I'm lookingup the most is is because I gotta
get action in this game. Weall gotta get actions. Game Sea thirty.
Everyone's watching, it's gonna be rocking. And Oregon it's gonna be a
(19:45):
lot of fun. I like theteam total for Colorado or for Oregon forty
five and a half. That's thefirst thing that's jumping off of me.
This number has dropped down total downto seventy and a half. It's holding
steady at twenty one for Oregon.Money line is just not there for me
from the perspective. Even if Iwas in love with Colorado and I was
like, oh yeah, he's gonnamake a way to win the game,
(20:06):
win the one for the Gipper,it's plus six fifty. Like, if
you're telling me to go on theOregon to win that game, outright,
I need a little bit more scratchedthan plus six big plus like eight ten
for a TCU game. I'm surea lot of money's coming in on them,
and you know, odsmakers are like, hold up, we gotta we
gotta you know, we gotta bend, so we don't take it like we
did the first two weeks. Ijust think these numbers have been outrageous in
(20:30):
the market was completely wrong, orthe odsmakers were completely wrong, and all
things Colorado leading up to it.To your point, though, as you
said, we are now nineteen minutesand forty one seconds into it, and
we've definitely spent three quarters on tothe end. But I do want to
say that the name of this showright now is Beef Upfront. Title of
the of the episode is six BigGame. That's true. With that being
(20:52):
said, let's talk about some ofthe big games, all right. I
don't want to tee you up onthis one right from the jump, because
I already know where you're gonna go. You're a Florida state guy even back
and from the beginning. We'll savethat one. Instead. Let's talk about
Ole Miss in Alabama, and I'mreally interested to hear your thoughts on this
one. Two to three weeks ago, I said to my coach John Janssen
(21:15):
that Old Miss. Let me justpull this up so I know that exactly
I'm talking about Ole Miss. Yes, I said this Ole Miss will be
either Alabama or Georgia this year.Said it to him two weeks ago.
As we sit here right now againstAlabama, Milton back in the starting quarterback
position. But it felt a lotmore confident of Nick Saban tried to roll
(21:37):
one of those two bums that hehad playing quarterback from last week. I
definitely would stick to my guns onthis. I don't know if Alabama will
lose the Old Miss because of thespot that they're in the way that Alabama
has played as of late, butI do feel comfortable saying I'll take the
seven. It's now down to sixand a half. Let's just go ahead
and say seven points spread right nowOld Miss versus Alabama game being played in
(22:02):
Tuscaloosa. Actually it is right nowat seven points. On Draft Kicking sports
Book, Sorry, fifty five anda half is a total three thirty kick
as well. This is a bigone. This is one of the six
featured matchups that have ranked opponents goingend to add fifteenth ole Miss thirteenth Alabama,
Ryan Coyle, where do you stand? Here? Is my big picture
(22:22):
advice on this game. If youbelieve that ole Miss has a shot to
go into Tuscaloosa and win this game, don't bet this game. Don't bet
their game against LSU next week.Just take the future right now for them
to win the SEC at plus eighteenhundred. They win this game against Alabama,
they win next week against LSU,which is at home. And you
(22:44):
said they still have Georgia on theschedule, but that's on the East so
that doesn't matter for them. They'regoing to have They're in the driver's seat,
they're they're leading the pack to goto the SEC title game. I'd
rather take that long shot future atplus eighteen hundred if you think that they
have a chance to win both ofthese games instead of just taking them straight
up. Here. Also, JacksonDart at the Heisman at plus twelve thousand,
(23:06):
I believe it is take him aswell. He's been lighting it up
so far, over a thousand totalyards of offense, nine touchdowns so far.
He wins these next two games,He's right up there in that top
five. He's got a bay andespecially with some of those Pac twelve teams
I think gonna cannibalize themselves. Theymight have some two three lost teams,
but with Pennex and Bownecks and CalebWilliams, they're gonna be up there.
(23:26):
But if ole Miss is in thereat eleven one, Jackson Dart's gonna be
right up there in the conversation. So I'm not saying exactly ole Miss is
going to win both these games, but if you have any merit, any
decision of thinking that they might,I'd go and sprinkle on those instead,
because if they take care of businessthese next two weeks, they're in the
driver's seat going forward. But justgoing back to this game itself, I
(23:48):
do think ole Miss puts up afight. It's kind of a question mark
what's going on in TuS closer rightnow. But Nick Saban's only lost nine
games. He's one hundred and threeand nine in his career in a seventeen
year career at Alabama just lost theirlast home game. You can't really predict
him to lose back to back homegames. I know what happened with Texas.
They didn't look great and then theycertainly didn't look great last week.
(24:10):
In South Florida. But still it'sone of those things, Nick Sabans still
on the sideline, you can't fadethem to that extent. So I do
like Old Miss to go in thereand put up a fight in this one.
If we're just taking the spread here, I do like them to cover
that. But Alabama at home,I'm just not going to take them to
lose this football game. But goingback to that Old Miss thing, I
(24:30):
do think they have a legit chanceto pull off these upsets. But I
will just ride with Alabama on thisgame. Make September a month to remember.

Ole Miss is two and twenty nine. Tuscaloosa Lane versus Nick is owing four
in the career, oh and threeat Ole Miss. Like I said,
this is if there's any year todo it, this is the year this
Alabama teams looks ripe to get pickedoff. And yeah, Ole Miss headed
(26:22):
in the right direction. It certainlycould happen. You know, It's kind
of what I was saying in theNFL Sunday when I'm like Trevor Lawrence and
Jacksonville they're gonna be Kansas City. And then look what happened. More of
the same again. You know, these are the moments throughout the course of
the season that make or break yetand you remember these games and when you
come out on top, you flexand you feel great. When you come
(26:45):
out on the other side, you'relike, damn, I knew that was
gonna happen. I'm rolling with allmiss. I just believe that they have
looked really good. How could youhave any confidence in Alabama this year right
now? Like Milton's the better quarterbackhe is, there's the opportunity and cheese.
What were they think? Was thata matter of like, hey,
we're going to motivate the young manby rolling these two bums out here that
(27:08):
can't throw a complete pass over tenyards? Or is this a just a
huge problem on the inside with theoffensive coordinator play calling, And to be
honest with you, to go deeper, we gotta be we gotta be realistic
that the portal has changed everything andand on top of that that Georgia has
(27:30):
been Alabama for the last few years, so they're losing the big recruits.
They're not the same old Alabama. And I'm not gonna sit here and tell
you that the game is even doubtfor all teams. But when you can
pay players, you can get betterplayers. So is that what we're seeing
right now? Dare I say isthe game passing off? Nick Saban?
It's wild that they have just gonefrom Tuh Jalen Hurts, Mac Jones throwing
(27:57):
to DeVante Smith, Jalen Model,Henry Ruggs to Jayla Milrow. Now,
if you go around to just likea casual college football fan, I bet
they can't name a single skill playerson this Alabama McClellan the running back,
a solid player, Corey Brooks,Barton good decent receivers. But you had
(28:18):
first round pick after first round pickafter first round pick. We didn't even
talk about Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, Amari Cooper. There's not one difference
maker on this entire Alabama offense. And that's why all offseason I was saying
Jayla Milrow has to be the guy, because if you're gonna win, You're
gonna have to win this game runningthe ball forty times, and twelve of
those times is gonna have to bewith your quarterback that has four speed.
(28:40):
You're gonna have to hope to beateveryone up at the line of scrimmage because
you're not going to be able tothrow the ball around the yard with these
guys. So that's the biggest thing. And when you look at kind of
Clemson in the same light as that, they haven't been bringing in skill players,
where year after year they were theywere churning out guys Sammy Watkins,
Mike Williams, justin Ross for thatstretch there before he got hurt. They
were just having stud after stud intheir in their passing games. So I
(29:03):
don't know what's happened. Like yousaid, the transfer portal, we saw
Florida State bringing Dion Kane. Wesaw Texas they've brought in Mitchell, the
guy from Georgia who had a fewbig plays in that game against Alabama.
So I mean, just time aftertime, some of these these schools are
just not adapting it. But you'resaying has the game pass Nick Saban That
rans to be seen. But it'sreally weird that Alabama is really starting to
(29:27):
I mean, like you can't reallysay on ravel because they only have one
loss, they only lost two gameslast year, but they're not looking like
good old Alabama. And then whenyou look at the NFL with Bill Belichick
and the Patriots, they're not thesame in any light that they were for
the past twenty years. So aresome of these older coaches a little too
stingy to adapt and change some oftheir philosophies. That's what it's starting to
(29:48):
look like. But whatever is goingon in Tuscaloosa's not right. Like I
was reading up on some tweets onAlabama Twitter this week that said Jayleen Milro
actually was suspended last week. NickSaban would never announce that. Apparently it
was behind the scenes type thing, but there was no reason for him to
just not start. Buckner showed nothing. The other kid was a five start
(30:08):
quarterback coming out of high school. He showed nothing. So what's going on
down there? It doesn't sound good. So that gives you a little bit
more optimism that maybe old miss cango in there and pick them off.
If you're going to do it,this is the year, which is why
I was saying, if you dokind of believe that they have the chance
to sprinkle on that future instead. But this Alabama situation doesn't appear to be
(30:30):
headed in the right direction, andI'd be surprised if they're able to turn
around and make a run at thisSEC West. But that's what Saturday is
for. That's why you gotta goout there and play the game, all
right, Ryan, A couple ofrapid fire ones real quick, and I'm
gonna mix them one other one andI don't want to know your thoughts too.
There's nothing better than being on theright side as far as a blowout
(30:51):
is concern. Right when you getthat one, you're like, that's the
team I like, and that matchup, this is going to turn out a
blowout. It's a fourteen and ahalf point spread, huge, Fay,
but they went by twenty eight.I want to challenge you from moving forward,
try and find those ones you knowhere on Beef up Front when we
record weekly, to go ahead andpinpoint and point our listeners into that direction,
(31:12):
because that's the one we want.I'm curious because I wonder if I
found it. I think I foundit this week, and the game that
is jumping up the page at meis Texas and Baylor. Baylor's terrible.
They're absolutely putrid. Man, it'sa fifteen point spread. I know Texas
didn't look all that good last week, but when they play to their potential,
(31:34):
come on, man, they're gonnalump up Baylor. What do you
say to that play fifteen point spread? I think Texas went by twenty eight.
As I said, that's the mainthing with Texas that I'm still a
little bit wared of. They're goingto rise to the occasion in these big
games, I think, because that'swhat they're looking forward to, but can
they avoid those downfalls that disappointment thatstill remains to be seen. They were
(31:56):
tied coming into the fourth quarter lastweek against Wyoming, so ye, so
who knows. I mean, they'recoming off that huge win over Texas.
That's kind of like, oh,we should just go out there and this
should be a layup. All ourguys, get arch Manning in the game
and a halftime type thing. So, I mean, this Baylor game,
they're not a very good football teamthis year, but it's it's still this
is Baylor's big game. Now,this is Baylor's super Bowl, This is
(32:20):
Baylor's most attended home game this yearwith number three Texas big brother in the
state coming to play them. I'mstaying away for Texas from Texas betting wise.
If I had to pick an angle, I would ride with them with
the fifteen just because they can bethat explosive team and can blow it open.
Would inspise me at all to seethem go out there and win by
twenty eight. But personally I'm stayingaway from from betting on them just because
(32:42):
I don't know which team is goingto show up every week. It's just
a frustrating thing. I think, just with that whole program as a whole,
you're and you're out. Just whenyou think Texas back, they stumble
and lose to an opponent that theyshould blow out. This is one of
those examples. You are correct though. Way to point out, this is
a huge game for Baylor prossibly theirbiggest game on the schedule, definitely at
(33:06):
home. So this might be stayaway completely, but I'm kind of leaning
towards Texas on this one. IfI had to make a call as well,
all right, staying with the sevenththirty kick. Like I said,
rapid fire here Iowa and Penn Statewas at fifteen. Just ticked down a
matter of fact, right in frontof me here, fourteen and a half
point spread. Forty is your totalwith that lo lo low total. My
goodness, you can't tell you're gonnatell me that Penn State can't score forty
(33:29):
themselves against Iowa. Where are youstand in this game? I'm laying the
fourteen with Penn say, I'm takingthem there. They showed me enough last
week going on the road and doingwhat they did to Illinois, turning him
over four times. And Altemeier isa pretty solid quarterback. He was previously
at Old Mess. He's a guythat has played in some big boy football
games in the past. Iowa nowstill bringing that pedestrian offense to the table,
(33:52):
going to kind of resemble what Illinoiswanted to do in terms of slowing
it down and trying to run theball a lot. Penn Sate just go
out there and forces turnovers. They'rejust such a tough team from the front
seven to the back end, andthen on offense they can dominate and every
which way as well. And talkingto to my friend Joe this week,
he says he said it best. It's Penn State, It's the white out.
(34:14):
Don't overthink it. That's the mostjuiced up game of the year in
Happy Valley, and the fans aresure going to show out for it.
So I'm feeling very confident in PennState to win that one. I could
see them win by three scores. All right, let's keep it moving.
Seven o'clock kick here featuring another tworanked teams. Just let everybody know Iowa
twenty fourth ranked, Penn State nowseventh in the polls. Let's talk about
(34:37):
Oregon State in Washington State. Reallyinteresting game both squads, of course in
the PAC twelve three and Ozero andthree and l if I'm not mistaken,
the only two teams that have notdecided to go anywhere else here. You're
looking at the PAC twelve pack twofuture here between the Oregon State and Washington
State. Tight spread Oregon State theroad three point fa here fifty eight and
(35:00):
a half is your total kind ofleaning towards the home dog. But I'm
hearing a lot of people saying that, as well, where do you stand,
Ryan Coyle? You should continue tolead towards towards that home dog because
Wazoo is going to win this oneoutright. Cam Ward is the best player
in college football that you probably haven'theard about unless you're a diehard Pack twelve
(35:22):
fan. This guy is flying underthe radar. With Shadoor Sanders out there,
Bonnex, Michael Panax, Caleb Williams. This dude can ball in his
own right. Nine hundred eighty sixpassing yards, nine passing touchdowns this year,
and he's leading Washington State to fortyeight point three points per game Washington
State football putting up nearly fifty anight. Like this dude can play.
This dude can ball, And I'mreally looking forward to this game because I
(35:45):
think this game is kind of gettinglost in the shuffle of some of these
bigger brands Ole Miss Alabama, NotreDame, Ohio State, which we haven't
even touched on yet, Florida State, Clemson, Like there's so many big
games. This one's flying under theradar, and I think this one could
actually be on the field once theads are trapped on in the helmets.
This is going to be I thinkthe best game of the day. So
if you're able to get a multipleTV set up, make sure you get
(36:07):
in front of this one because camWard is a guy that is going has
capable plays of having like those Heismantype moments, and he's playing this organ
State team which is built more solike a big ten SEC team, where
they're really good up front in thetrenches, but skill wise, I don't
think they're as strong. So thisWazoo team showed me enough by going or
(36:28):
excuse me, by beating Wisconsin, which is similarly built to this Organ State
team. I think that that showedme enough where I'm confident enough in cam
Ward and Wazoo to win this oneat home. So take take the two
and a half with you and justgive me the straight up money line in
this game. I like that. All right, Let's keep it moving and
we'll stay in the Pac twelve. The cliche is you never bet against Utah
(36:50):
at home, and it played outWeek zero against Florida four and a half
point favorites at home against Chip Kelly, who has, I believe, leave
the third overall running game in thecountry and possibly one of the best,
possibly the best freshman quarterback in DanteMoore. Where do you stand on this
(37:12):
when it's a four and a halfpoint spread Utah favorite. I've always been
in love with Chip Kelly's offense andthe fact that they're able to run the
ball down your throat. With DanteMoore already bet against them once. Let's
go oh for two, I'm gonnatake you in the bruins here, Where
do you stand? Make September amonth to remember. At bet mgm,

but Utah Home has never seen DanteMoore. I'm a huge fan of
this kid, the number three recruitcoming out quarterback wise behind Arch Manning and
then Nico down at Tennessee. Butthis is the only one plan and just
(38:42):
an interesting note on him. Thisis a Detroit kid. Chip Kelly was
able to get him from Detroit togo out to La to UCLA. But
I think that's kind of cool too. With UCLA transitioning into the Big ten,
he's going to be able to playmost of his career there in the
Midwest, but getting the chance toget these starts early in his career,
he's going to be the future kindof face I think of that big tangoing
forward, because this guy can reallyplay. UCLA has won all their games
(39:07):
so far this year by double digits. I'm not that confident that they're going
to go in there and win outright, but I do like them to cover
that spread. Utah has clawed theirway to three and zero without rising in
the lineup. But this is definitelytheir toughest toughest test yet UCLA five hundred
and twenty seven yards per game andforty point three points per game. But
then on the other side, Utah'sdefense only allowing ten point three points per
(39:30):
game. So this is a battleof kind of contrasting styles. Whether we
want UCLA to run it up,run it up the scoreboard, or if
we want this Utah team to reallyplay like slugfestball. Who who did ever
decides the tempo? I think willultimately win this game, so I will
take Utah at home with the outrightwin, but I do like UCLA to
keep it close. I think DanteMoore kind of has that welcome to college
(39:52):
football moment because he's only played CoastalCarolina North Carolina Central in San Diego State.
He hasn't had all eyes on himyet. This three thirty slot is
like a perfect kind of opportunity forhim to really raise some eyebrowsing and get
the attention. So give me UCLAsyou cover there and downtay Moore to kind
of put the world on notice.Yeah, I've read something the other day.
(40:14):
I'm trying to find exactly what itwas, but a third down conversions.
I think they've had thirty seven opportunitiesthat as a defense Utah, and
I believe only like seven have beenconverted the first downs. Pretty darn good
defense, but they haven't seen anoffense like this. So what gives We'll
see four and a half points spread. I'll take the points as well.
(40:34):
Like you said, all right, let's keep it moving a little rapid fire
edition if you don't mind, let'sget to your game already. Know where
you're going. Tell us why theSimilars are going to go and do Clemson
Death Valley as they say, andwin the game? Outright? They're two
and a half point favorites. Wheredo you stand? Beat down City here,
statement game, the breakthrough year forFlorida State to be officially back.
(40:54):
I've heard all the Texas is back. Flori State wins this game, They're
back. I don't care that doesn'thave the number next to their name.
Right now, you're still going intoClemson, who has ran this conference for
the past decade plus now, reallyever since I started being a college football
fan, this has been the teamof the ACC really the team I think
(41:15):
kind of of the East Coast ingeneral. They've just been so good each
and every year. But Florida Stateis better at every single position I think
in this matchup, except at insidebacker. With Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Charter
Jr. Those are probably the twobest inside linebackers in the country playing together,
that's kind of hard to overcome. But quarterback, I'm taking Jordan Travis
over club Nick any day the week. This Florida State offensive line, that
(41:38):
was my main point with them throughoutthe all season. Over two hundred returning
starts. That is unheard of incollege football. So much continuity upfront,
and then the receivers. You lookat Wilson six foot seven out there,
Dion Kane, he was the guyI said last week because it really impressed
me the most out of any nonquarterback in college football. Just so many
playmakers, so much depth across theboard. There is better at every single
(42:00):
spot than this Clemson team. Ido think though, if Clemson is able
to make it a lower scoring gamewhere it's we're going into the fourth quarter
and it's only like seventeen thirteen, that is definitely in favor of them.
But if Florida State can go outthere and make Kate club Nick go score
for score with Jordan Travis. Ithink that'll be a long day for Clemson.
I think Florida State can go outthere and put up thirty five forty
(42:22):
points in their sleep. This isreally the game. There was so much
made about that LSU game getting startoff on the right foot, but make
no mistake about it, this wasthe game that this coaching staff, the
strength staff, the players, everysingle person a part of the program had
scheduled because they know this is theone that they need to get to their
biggest goal, which is the collegefootball playoffs. So give me, give
me Florida State with an absolute beatdown here, I'll go winning by double
(42:45):
digits on the road. This ismy favorite play of the week. I've
hitched my wagon to them all year, at all off season, put that
plus two thousand wager on them atthe beginning of the season. This is
my team, and they win this. They're they're looking pretty a very comfortable
slate ahead to go undefeated. Plustwo thousand of what to win? What
(43:06):
to win the National title? Wow? You own that ticket? Yep,
not much on it, but Ido on that ticket. Hey, hey,
hey, hey, we first ofall, we never we never judge
units that's number one. Number two. I never want to be in your
wallet. But it's a great play. I mean, if you believe,
let's go, and you obviously do. I've seen you, We've talked about
it, and this is a game, like you said, year and year
(43:30):
out, you want to make thethe you know, when you break down
these games, you want to seethe vision of like Clemson going in there
and getting the dub and then Clemsonwill beat them fifty five twenty eight,
you know, fifty to thirty one. So here we are. They're two
and a half point favorites, whichI don't know the history as far as
that is concerned. When the lasttime they were favorite, But you're talking
(43:51):
about floor State had a run inthe nineties. It's probably going back the
end, maybe a game in likethe early two thousands that they were probably
favorite. But it's been a longdamn time and it's been a long damn
time since they've won there too,So I want to see it. I'm
right there with you. I'm riding. There wasn't even a question, and
it was based off of what tookplace in that game against LSU. I
(44:13):
went against you in that game. You said, nope, trust before States
to play here we are. Iknew you were gonna say that, and
I gotta I gotta ride with thebeef man, I gotta ride with the
beef. Sip all right, finalgame on the card here, and this
is probably the best one as faras you know. Fan perspective, Ohio
(44:34):
State and Notre Dame. I've hearda lot this week about athleticism versus scheme
and college football college basketball. Youneed to go after the athleticism. If
you can be on the side ofathleticism at a decent number, that's always
a good spot to be in.Does it come out on top all the
time? No, think about OhioState in Miami back in that national championship
(44:58):
with Maurice Colorade and how good Miamiwas. And I know it's a long
time ago, but that's the firstone that jumped in my head. We've
seen upsets before, right, butthis one. This is a big damn
game. And I look at whatNotre Dame brings to the table with Sam
Hartman. Defense been oppressive, They'veplayed better football. Ohio State. God,
(45:21):
they got some good players, butquarterback is a little suspect right now.
Less of an experienced guy going upagainst Sam Hartman. We know that
most people are most quarterbacks are stillgot Marvin Harrison, still got an unbelievable
coaching staff, still got a greatscheme themselves, and they just threw up
an amazing amount of points against WesternKentucky. But if you're going to give
me three, and I'm the hometeam in South Bend and this is probably
(45:44):
the biggest game in quite some timeat Notre Dame, I'm gonna take the
Irish. Where do you stand?Just like Wazoo, you can keep the
points, give me Notre Dame athome to win this one outright. I
think my two most teams that Italked about this offseason, Florida State and
Notre Dame. I really loved theiroff seasons and I loved what they kind
(46:04):
of built from the second half oflast season on and carried through to what
they did in the portal to whatthey did in recruiting. And I thought
Sam Hartman was the biggest ad inthe entire transfer portal and he's looked nothing
but great since he put on thatgold helmet so far. My big thing
with Notre Dame was this offseason theyhad three Golden Golden tickets on their schedule.
This is the first one against OhioState. They have the USC game
(46:29):
at home as well, and thenthey're at Clemson too. Depending on what
Clemson kind of shakes out and figuresto be the rest of the season remains
to be seen, but they needto win two out of those three games
to have a shot at the collegeFootball playoff just because they don't have that
conference championship game as well. Butif they're able to get off on the
right foot here, they're they're goingto be kind of controlling their own destiny,
(46:50):
I think going forward. This isjust such a big game for that
program, for Marcus Freeman to kindof prove you don't have to go to
Ohio State or Michigan. If you'refrom the Midwest and want to be a
major college football player, you cancome right here to Notre Dame because we're
back as well. The thing thatsticks out to me the most with this
game last year, Notre Dame heldOhio State to twenty one points. That
(47:13):
was their lowest of the season besidesthe Northwestern game, which if you remember
that game, it was played inlike a hurricane. It was fifty mile
pour wins pour and rain. Itwas just a complete mess out there.
Other than that, Notre Dame reallyschemed up well and really showed the way
to kind of slow down this spreadit around passing attack. I know that
was only Week one, but MarcusFreeman knows what to do. I think
(47:35):
against this Ohio State passing attack, and especially a young quarterback in McCourt.
He made one start before this season. This is the first big time road
start. Don't give me that Indianagame was a big time road start.
This is the first big spot whereyou want to be the Ohio State quarterback.
You want to be the quarterback ofa national championship team. You got
there and win this game. I'mnot I don't have the faith in that
yet. I don't have the confidencein him. Just like Week one with
(47:58):
Kate Clubnick going to I mean thatwas their biggest game. This is Notre
Dame's biggest game. They've shown,They've shown me nothing to go against my
original take this off season of themwinning this game at home against Ohio State.
So I say, once again, keep the points. If you want
to play it safe and take thethree, do that. But I think
this is Notre Dame's game to loseand being at home even more of the
(48:20):
reason. Give me the fighting Irishhere. Yeah, plus one thirty six
on the money line for the Irish, that's definitely setting up some signals.
Plus three. I'd almost rather takethe three points and enjoy the game.
This is a huge matchup seven thirtykick and man, they're all big.
This is definitely the biggest card. And like you said, we've been talking
about this one for close to twoweeks, you even longer than that.
(48:40):
But man, this has been agreat joy to break them all down and
hopefully get on the right side. It's you've been nailing it so far,
so let's keep that going. Beefup front once again, Ryan Coyle,
thirty five is right. You canfind them on socials. We're showing this
live on things. As far asa stream meaning is concerned, we're gonna

every single week before you make yourcollege of football selections. Ryan Coyle.
Before we get out of here, any final thoughts from mister Beef himself,
just enjoy it. I mean, you don't really get these type of Saturdays
going forward. I was supposed tohave a work event on Saturday and that's
canceled now, so I'll be postedup watching from noon till till the games
(49:27):
are are done at whatever it ispast midnight. So I really really excited
for this Saturday and really excited toget back next week and kind of talk
about some of these big games andwhat we learned about some of these teams
in the direction that they're going ingoing forward. Colorado Colorado State had us
up till two o'clock in the morning. Let's do it again, right exactly,
And I'm right there with you thatNorris they're supposed to come through on

so pick a very comfortable one.Let's put it that way. Ryan,
