Right, so you better have beef up front. They have
the skill position players, they have the defensive backs, they
have the quarterback.

I have not spoken to you via Beef Upfront since
your trip to Knoxville, so just give us the sixty second.
It's Knoxville trip, catching the balls in action victory on
a Saturday night.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
What was it like?

Speaker 7 (03:06):
Yeah, it just means more.

Speaker 8 (03:08):
The phrase definitely fits the description in the atmosphere. It
was really cool for a first time going to SEC country.
I think the biggest thing was just like the noise
and the amount of people in their seats, like an
hour before the game, Like we got in there, I
think fifty minutes left on the clock for warm ups
and that stadium was seventy five percent full already. It's

(03:30):
just like you think the links big with sixty five thousand,
and then you kind of look across the sideline and a.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
One hundred and three.

Speaker 8 (03:38):
Thousand seat stadium and you're just like, wow, it's it's massive,
but really cool, really like old though, like you can
tell it it's an old stadium. The concourse was about
like could fit like three people wide, So that was
my only kind of complaint. It was hard to go
back and get another beer. But yeah, awesome experience. And
already look in too for a trip for I think

(04:00):
we're talking South Carolina, LSU or Alabama potentially.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Oh, I like it.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
We're gonna talk a little bit about Tennessee. Of course,
they got a big matchup this weekend against Georgia. We'll
find out how Nico looks and in person, and whether
or not he'll be playing on Saturday. We got a
lot to discuss here, all things college football for the
next hour.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
All right, beef.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
People are yelling, and it feels like it's a little
bit different than years past, where I have always been
on the side of everybody relaxed.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
This is going to work itself out and then I
get it.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Last year with Florida State undefeated, some might say it
didn't work itself out, Georgia missing.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
Of course, you could roll that into the equation.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
But for the most part, ninety percent of the time,
these sort of things just figured themselves out over the
long stretch of the season, which, oh, by the way,
we have three weeks of regular season action and then
conference championship games. But this feels a little different with
the twelve team playoffs. It seems like somebody's tie breaking

(05:02):
options as you.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Go down are a little fluky.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Nothing is really the same for some of these teams.
They don't play the same schedule, might be in the
same conference. You're gonna have some teams, some good teams
with two losses.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Some are even trying to.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Pitch the idea of LSU with three losses. Again, I'm
not gonna get too crazy, but where do you stand
as far as the meter is concerned. Five being yo,
we're gonna have anarchy as soon as this bad boy
is done versus one it works itself out.

Speaker 8 (05:34):
I think five for sure, because I think you're going
to have potentially an eleven and one team from the
Big ten on the outside look in. But I definitely
I'd say there's a ninety percent chance that there's a
ten to two team from the SEC that gets left
out between Alabama, Tennessee, Ole, Miss Georgia. I think those

(05:54):
are kind of the four kind of teams there in
the running for that Texas you throw them in there
as well at five Texas A and M could be
six as well.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
There's there's going to be two really.

Speaker 8 (06:06):
Kind of sour teams at the end, I think, one
from the SEC, one from the Big ten, because you
can also kind of ump Notre Dame into there as
well if they finished the season at eleven in one.
But there's there's a lot of there's gonna be a
lot of ten to two and eleven and one teams
and only basically eleven spots to fill because you have
to fill the G five spot, you have to fill

(06:27):
the big twelve in the AEC are only going to
be one bid leagues I think, and then you kind
of got to go from there.

Speaker 7 (06:33):
Like there's a path still where LSU can go.

Speaker 8 (06:36):
To the SEC title game, and if they win the
SEC title, they're obviously automatically in the playoff and they
would be in there as as a three lost team
if they don't win.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
It's kind of like in the conference tournaments.

Speaker 8 (06:47):
In college basketball, like a bid stealer, like a team
that wouldn't be going to the tournament or wouldn't be going
to the playoff. In this scenario, they get that kind
of bid steel due to some tie breakers and one
of their losses being at the being of the year
to USC. So that is one of the potential flaws
in the system right now. It's like LSU has a
really bad loss to USC, but only has two losses

(07:08):
in SEC playing because of tiebreakers, who they beat, who
they lost to, who they played on the schedule. They're
still path for them to get in and they're not
even one of the five or six best teams in
the SEC, and they might leave out, you know, a
Tennessee or Georgia because of.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
That, even though they're six and three.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
But at this point in time, sure, that's if they
run the table over the next three weeks.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
Correct, Yeah, Well they would have to run the table
and then they would have to win the SEC title game.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
What's yeah, So, what's the chances of LSU going over
the next three weeks beating Florida, Vandy and Oklahoma? Like,
I just see a slip slipping up there one of
those games. They're not a good football team, right, Like
I could see Bandy hanging with them. I know it's
on the road in LSU, but I would give Vandy
probably the best shot out of those three. Florida's playing

(07:55):
a little bit better, and that's a road game down
in a swamp. Of course, that's coming up this week.
But for you, where do you stand on that conversation?
Is LSU going to run the table?

Speaker 7 (08:04):
Yeah, it's a weird spread this weekend.

Speaker 8 (08:07):
It obviously is dependent on the Lagway, but I think
by the spread it's kind of baked in there that
Lagway will be back.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
And you said the last game's Oklahoma quick believe, Yeah,
I mean I think there's a chance that they go three.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
No.

Speaker 8 (08:20):
LSU's biggest problem has been running quarterbacks this year. You
look at what obviously Milroe did last week over one
hundred yards and four touchdowns on the ground, and then
what Marcel Reid did. If you're just getting some stationary
kind of pocket quarterbacks, so your prediction of potentially Vandy
there being the biggest threat, but if you limit and
you look outside these mobile quarterbacks, they've been pretty solid.

(08:41):
And Lagway is more of a pocket passer himself. He
can run, But there is a path if you want
to go off on a little bit of.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
A side thing. I saw a tweet yesterday.

Speaker 8 (08:51):
I want to just see if I can find it though,
for the path to LSU to make it through the playoff.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Well, again, like I said to me, I think we
could push LSU to the side, right, Like, if they
run the table, that's that's that's a hell of a
run to close up the season where they haven't been
playing all that well. They got smacked against Alabama in
one man's opinion, one man's take on that. So I
don't foresee them running the table. So I would almost say, like, okay,

(09:16):
let's put them to the side. Now, you do have
a team like Texas A and M. They'll have an
opportunity to go up against Texas. Texas has what one
loss on the season.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
Yeah, they're eight and one.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
So if that's like A and M in the last
game at A and M, and that's the first sept
that rivalry game has been played in I think over
a decade.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
So it could be a chance to you know, look
in the grand scheme of things, I think you're right,
we will have anarchy. I don't know necessarily if it's
going to involve LSU. I understand it's on the other
side coming into the SEC Championship game.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
I get that perspective.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
But yeah, it's looking like and I guess it's looking
like it's going to be air and anarchy. But it
brings me to the next question and the criteria. I believe,
and I haven't read the thing in great detail, and
I would honestly believe I said, I said to you
a couple of weeks ago that I felt like something
might slide in last second. Like to me, these people

(10:09):
just go about it week to week and I don't
have an issue with that. Some people do. Some people
want X, Y and Z on the paper. I want
to know if this team does this, that's what like, dude,
this has got to have some feel to it. If not,
then go to the computers, go to the BCS. It's
got to have some feel to it. So I guess
long winded question would be at the end of the

(10:32):
deal here and you got to make the selection. You
got your automatics, but then do you want the next
best teams?

Speaker 6 (10:39):
Are you going teams.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
That you think deserved to what they did in their conference?
Like to me, it should be. Hey, man, I want
the twelve best teams. That's what how I.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
Look at it.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
Now, does that necessarily mean four SEC teams gonna know?

Speaker 6 (10:55):
It can't. It can't.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
There are other good football teams. And if you're in
this position make a selection to be on the committee,
then you should know, you know, be able to separate
who's a lucky team, who's a team that's been dominant,
who's a team that's getting hot at the right moment.
Like I think we're making too much of a big
deal about it is of course it's a huge deal.
So where do you stand on that? Is it the

(11:18):
best teams at the end of the day.

Speaker 8 (11:20):
Yeah, I mean it goes right back to the NCAA tournament.
But the thing with the NCAA tournament you have so
much more of a sample size of these teams and
so many more games.

Speaker 7 (11:28):
In college football.

Speaker 8 (11:29):
It's only twelve games in some of these teams, case
could be thirteen games with the title game that was
the biggest I think gripe and discussion point this morning
after Georgia will have just left out because they have
the number one strength of schedule in the country and
the number three strength of record and they're on the
outside looking in with two losses right now, obviously a
huge opportunity.

Speaker 6 (11:50):
Let me let me stop you there, let me stop
you there. It's focused on that, all right.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
They lost those two games though, Like they lost two games.
They lost to Alabama and they lost to Texas.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
HM.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Right, Like you could talk to you about the strength
to schedule, but when you don't, when those games, I
don't know, I kind of chock it up as hey man,
you had your opportunity, you lost, yep.

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Yeah, but then it kind of also goes back to.

Speaker 8 (15:15):
Do you think Georgia is one of the twelve best
teams in the country? And I think that's I think
that's going to be the most fascinating thing about Notre
Dame because I know Florida State's not much, but still
you're being in acc school fifty two to three last week.
Some of the beatdowns that Notre Dame has put on
some teams this year, But at the end of the day,
they're still going to have that loss to Northern Illinois,

(15:35):
who might not even make a bowl game on their schedule.

Speaker 7 (15:39):
Is that going to be used against them?

Speaker 8 (15:41):
Or do they want to put the twelve best teams
in because Notre Dame is a team two that doesn't
even have the opportunity to win their conference. They have
to obviously get one of those at large spots. And
then you can look at Indiana too. Indiana's look great,
they've dominated, but who have they really played against? Who
have they beat? Michigan was their toughest game last week,
and that one came down to the wired. Obviously, they
have a chance next week against Ohio State to completely

(16:05):
put themselves in, lock themselves in with a win there,
But are they one of the twelve best teams in
the country. Are they one of the teams with the
twelve best resumes in the country. It's we have nothing
to point to though for years past. It's all a
new ordeal, new experiment, no data points to turn to.
So I think that's the most fascinating thing and why
some people might be really caught off guard, because my

(16:26):
most surprising takeaway from the playoff rankings last night was
Penn State being at number four. They're to the number
six seed in the bracket, but sitting there at number
four with one loss, that makes me believe that as
long as they win their last two games, they're safely in.
But you look at who if they've beaten Wisconsin on
the road, USC on the road, and then Illinois at home.

(16:47):
Those are really kind of their three marquee wins, and
they pissed down their leg in the biggest game against
Ohio State.

Speaker 7 (16:52):
They won that one.

Speaker 8 (16:53):
They're obviously in the playoffs, So that's my biggest kind
of thing.

Speaker 7 (16:57):
You got four big ten teams there in the top five.

Speaker 8 (17:00):
That just gives me more of a reason to believe
that one of these SEC teams, and in this scenario
for this week, Georgia was the one on the outside
looking at.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
It's interesting, but here's the.

Speaker 7 (17:11):
Here's the UH scenario that for the for the SEC.

Speaker 8 (17:15):
So it's if every SEC favorite wins the next three weeks,
plus Arkansas beats Missouri, then the l s U. Then
LSU would be in the SEC championship game against Texas
A and M.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
So that's like, that's the crazy thing.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Like, and then with A and m's got two losses
and LS who's got two losses at.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
That point in time? Or A and M only has one?
So A and M would only have one.

Speaker 8 (17:40):
Well, they would have I assume they Yeah, I would
assume that would be them beating Texas.

Speaker 7 (17:46):
Correct. The graphic that I have is.

Speaker 8 (17:48):
A little bit confusing, okay for for who's winning.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
Yeah, look that the the committee is going to have
to weigh how unbelievably talented the SEC is.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
And I don't think that they've had an issue in
years past doing that to a point, and I don't
suspect that they will this year.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
Now you're right about Penn State.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
You know the fact that they are viewed in such
manner with that spot at this point in time.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Can that change over the next three weeks? Maybe not?
Maybe not.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Plus these championship games come into play, right, don't they
Like do you get extra extra points for making.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
It in the committee's eye getting to that championship game?

Speaker 8 (18:26):
The one second the reason why I was a little
bit confused. I lumped them both together. If every SEC
favorite wins the next three weeks, plus Arkansas beats Missouri,
then it is LSU in the championship verse, the winner
of Texas and Texas A and M which.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Is less makes sense, makes sense?

Speaker 7 (18:44):
That makes sense?

Speaker 5 (18:45):
All right, Well, we're not gonna get We already got
bogged them. It's okay, though we got three weeks.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
It's a lot of.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
People yelling on my timeline, all of our timelines right now.
So I just wanted to make it as about as
simple as possible. And again we are painting, uh, the
most chaotic scenario, no matter the league, no matter to schedule,
no matter the team. And there's a good chance that
it won't happen. But if it does happen, we'll see
what the Committee does. One last one on Notre Dame, though,

(19:12):
and I'm curious to know where you stand, because the
pushback I would say is, man, it was on September seventh.
This team has been rolling, They've proved their worth, and
if they run the table from September seventh all the
way to their final game, I don't know how you
keep them out.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Yeah, I think Notre Dame is going to be in.

Speaker 8 (19:31):
Like if you may be picked between if it came
down to the last two spots and it was eleven
and one Notre Dame versus eleven in one Indiana and
Indiana's only loss was to Ohio State, I think it
would depend maybe how close of a game it was,
but I would still probably put Notre Dame in just
because I believe Notre Dame is a better football team, and.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
I love Indiana. It's been an awesome story. It'd be
awesome to see them in.

Speaker 8 (19:55):
But I just think Notre Dame has been a better
team and they had one slip up, obviously a major
slip up, But you can't tell me that they're not
one of the twelve best teams in the country right now.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
I agree with that.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
Throwing up fifty one against Navy, fifty two against Florida State,
handled Georgia Tech.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
On the road beat Louisville. You know, look, I get it.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I mean they threw sixty six up against Purdue. It's
not even like they're skirting buying on some.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
Of these these games. They are absolutely crushing them.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
They got Virginia, they got Army, and they got usc
the close up shop. Three very winnable games style points
are there. Man, it's the NBA Cup taken over. Go
ahead and run up the score and we'll see what happens.
What's exciting. I did not think that Notre Dame would
be in this position. So credit to them and for
making it happen and getting here. All right, so we

(20:48):
got some big time college football action. Of course, every
every game means much more these days. And we are
taping this on Wednesday night, So Thursday night, let's kick
things off there. Anything for you on e c U
and Tulsa as we will have the Eagles and Commanders
on a screen uh on screen one, but this could
very well get screen two.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Knowing that I am, you know, supportive of the Pirates.

Speaker 8 (21:11):
Yeah, nothing for me on that one. My focus is
on Eagles minus three in that one. I think to
the NFL point in there. I think the Eagles are
gonna roll tomorrow. But it's when when you look at
this kind of spot. Eastern Carolina definitely motivated they win
this game.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Eastern Carolina. Yeah, East they don't go like Eastern Carolina.

Speaker 8 (21:32):
SR disrespected pirates, but they get they get to their
sixth win of the year and the gain there.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
It is so kind of in that.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
Spot all right.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
Jansen's and alum and I tried to go to school
there but things didn't work out, so I attended the
community college and bartender there.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
So how about that? Anyways? Moving on college football weekend?
Oh anything?

Speaker 5 (21:55):
On Friday, we got Wyoming in Colorada State North Texas UTSA.

Speaker 6 (21:58):
That's a small spread Ucla.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
I know that half of the Gambler gang is and
UCLA under five five and a half, so I'm sure
that everyone's pulling for Washington. They're their four point favorites
and Arizona Houston to close up shop Friday night at
ten fifteen one point spread for Arizona.

Speaker 8 (22:16):
Yeah, I like two plays on Friday night. Actually, I
do like Ucla plus the four there. They've won three
in a row and I think quietly have been playing
really well, like they got rolled by Indiana in Week two,
but since then their losses are at LSU, versus Oregon,
at Penn State, and versus Minnesota. Those are all, you know,
quality losses. And then since then they've beaten Rutgers, Nebraska, Iowa,

(22:39):
at Washington. I think that they're they're a live dog.
They haven't given me a reason to not believe that
they've been playing really well recently.

Speaker 7 (22:45):
But sure, I'll take the plus.

Speaker 8 (22:46):
Four and then I really like Arizona on Friday Night.
Been a pretty disappointing season for them, three and six,
only one in five in the Big Twelve. But Favida
is still a quarterback, McMillan's still at wide receiver. A
chance for these two guys kind of their last year
together at Arizona get a big time, a long time
win on Friday Night. So you're giving me them might

(23:07):
just one against a Houston team that has been a
surprise in a kind of positive LFE for a team
that was expected to be a two to three win team.
They already have four wins, but there's still nothing great,
nothing special. I like Arizona to win that game at
home on Friday night.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
All right, let's get into the Saturday card and talk
about some of the more yelling on the timeline big
noon kickoff?

Speaker 6 (23:28):
Are you a fan of it, Beef?

Speaker 8 (23:30):
I watched college football from noon to midnight every Saturday,
so it's whatever is on.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
It's on.

Speaker 8 (23:38):
I don't really complain, but the three thirty slot is
definitely my favorite this.

Speaker 7 (23:43):
I would go three thirty seven thirty noon. If you're
making me rank the.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
Three, yeah, I'm with you there.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
But I have no issue with Fox creating this and
getting a noon kickoff. I understand it from the perspective
of a house state. I think you have to mix
it up.

Speaker 6 (23:57):
And they should take inventory on some of the complaints
and not just push them off.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
No, you need, you need to listen, especially if you
care about you know, the the the the programs, the university,
the fans, which should be number one.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
I think you gotta be.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
You got to take that under weisement and move around
and try and find some bigger spots and work with
the commissioner.

Speaker 6 (24:19):
Come on in. It can't be that difficult.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
So yeah, with six Street games, I think stupid ye stupid.

Speaker 8 (24:27):
Against Marshall on like week four or something like, we
seriously can't find a better game to put if you're
trying to make it a appetizing window.

Speaker 6 (24:35):
That's correct. All right, let's go ahead.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
Possible dogs here covering from the jump.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
You're ready.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Three games noon window. You got Northwestern in that game,
twenty eight and a half point dog there, Arkansas catching
thirteen and a half at home against Texas, and Pitt
catching ten at home against Clemson. If you had to
tell me one dog or multiple dogs that are barking
where you're at, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
With Pitt there plus ten.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
They had a demoralizing loss last week against Virginia. Must win,
absolute must win. If they have any chance at making
it to the ACC title game, they're gonna need to
win this one and get some help along the way.
It's probably not gonna happen, but I think they're a
very desperate team, and this is a spot that I
think a team gets up for. You got Clemson, still

(25:21):
a national power in most people's eyes, come into town
this week. I think it's a game that Narzoosey is
able to get them up for. I think that they're
a live dog. They could win that game, but I
definitely like them to keep that one under ten. Clemson
their hot streak on offense is really kind of cooled
off these past few weeks. They had the loss to
the Louisville Last week they only put up I think
it was twenty four on Virginia Tech. So that high

(25:42):
powered Clemson offense that we saw taking advantage of some
inferior opponents has came back down to earth a little bit.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
I like pitt to keep it closest we can cover
the ten.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Ohouse during Northwestern twenty eight and a half in Texas,
Arkansas thirteen and a half.

Speaker 8 (28:59):
Yeah, I think Arkansas plus thirteen and a half could
be worth a look. This is the same Arkansas team
that shut down Tennessee in Arkansas, but then also got
right off the field and led up sixty three points
to Ole Miss just a couple of weeks ago. So
which version of Arkansas shows up? Arkansas did beat Texas
a couple of years ago with Pittman and Sark, so
that's something.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
To look for.

Speaker 8 (29:20):
Maybe he has his number, but I think this one
could be held within the thirteen and a half. Texas
looked really good last week, but DJ Lagway wasn't playing
for Florida. They had a third string quarterback in there
who is a transfer from Yale slinging the rock for them,
so not much of a test last week. I think
Arkansas could give him a bit of a scare and
keep that one close as well.

Speaker 7 (29:41):
If you're looking at another dog.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
All right, noon kickoff as well. Colorado eleven and a
half point home favorites against Utah. Here Colorado, they are
absolutely getting a lot of attention, and rightfully so. Seven
and two on the season, five and one conference, of course,
BYU remaining undefeated after last week's unbelievable win against Utah.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Here they are nine to zero on the season, at
the top of the Big Twelve. Before you at in
this one.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
Because they'll tell you what, I don't know too many
teams that have been covering the number quite like the Buffalos.
Dion's got that team ready to play eleven and a half.
I'm willing to lay that number. But it is a
little interesting spot here noon kickoff early. Maybe reading the
you know, the press clippings a little bit here, but
I don't know what's what hasn't been said already about Colorado.

Speaker 6 (30:28):
So but I would lay the number here at eleven
and a half.

Speaker 7 (30:30):
Where you at, Yeah, what is that ten am out there?

Speaker 6 (30:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (30:34):
At least yeah, that's a that's a real early kickoff
for these guys. But if I was making a play,
I don't have one in this game, I would lay
it with Colorado. I think when you look at Utah,
last week was their super Bowl. They've had a real
demoralizing season. Projected to win the Big Twelve, the Big
Twelve favorite, and here they are sitting right near the bottom,
and the team kind of right behind them was Oklahoma State.

(30:56):
So you look at kind of the two favorites in
the conference at the beginning of the year going to
finish probably first and second to last potentially, which is
just college football in a nutshell for you. But last
week was their Super Bowl against BYU. It's a really
tough to come back from a game like that. I
didn't see the call, but I heard they got robbed
in a call lead and they lose on a walk
off field goal. That's something like tough to bounce back from,

(31:17):
and especially tough season in Colorado has got that swag,
he's got that mojo kind of going right now, sky
high confidence. I think that could actually be like a
lower scoring game with just a little bit of a
sleep walk through the first half kind of. But if
you made me take a pick, I will get with
Colorado Miners eleven and a half.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
They's hit the three thirties.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
Penn State and Notre Dame, we've seen them face off
against each other, and the prediction as far as the
bracket is concerned.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
Last week, I like that game.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
They're both kicking off at three thirty Notre Dame against
Virginia twenty two and a half Penn State twenty nine
point favorite against Purdue, favorites both ways one and one.
Dog's barking, where are you staying at three thirty on
Saturday here.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
Virginia has been a frisky team this year.

Speaker 8 (32:00):
They've won a couple of games that they shouldn't have
last week going to beat Pitt But Notre Dame just
looks different right now. Man. I think last week too,
with Virginia beating pit they might be riding a little
bit high coming off of that one. I think Notre
Dame is able to kind of bring them back to
earth and take advantage in that one. And then Penn

(32:20):
State and Purdue. I'm not touching that one. But James
Franklin historically beats up on these teams when he's when
he's a large favorite, likes to bake that in. And
you were saying and at the beginning, like both these
teams sitting there at eleven and one, but any real
kind of quality wins on that schedule, I mean solid wins,
but not top tier wins. Bake up your your stats
as much as you can get those points per game up,

(32:43):
lower your points again, and just make a more intriguing
resume for yourself, and Notre Dame has certainly been doing that,
and Marcus Freeman actually the number one coach against the
spread since.

Speaker 7 (32:54):
He was hired in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 8 (32:56):
If you're feeling confident in the trends, potentially to lay
Notre Dame there. But if I'm thinking of picking either
of those games, I'm layding with the favorites.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
That's an interesting stat there.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
You're right, something to keep an eye on because look,
in its simplest form, they will look at common opponent
if it's there. And when you have Notre Dame throwing
sixty six up against Purdue back in Week four, whatever
it was, yeah, here's your opportunity to throw up eighty,
throw up seventy five, at least sixty hit fifty, you know,

(33:27):
make it look ugly. Not to say that you need
to score more points, but it's definitely got to be
a substantial victory. Let's just put it that way, or
else it could come back to bite you at the
end of the season. All right, staying at three thirty,
LSU and Florida end the swamp the tag it four
and a half point road favorites. Fifty five is our
total here talked a little bit about Florida. You were

(33:48):
discussing the quarterback situation been extremely disappointing. Nape You're coming
back next year. It's understood. I think people got to
realize the NIL is a different monster these days. When
you gotta pay everybody, you can't be right in these
checks left and right for these coaches.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
That's my assumption.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
I don't know if you got an add on that
they're four and five on this season. Of course, we
already talked a ton about LSU at six and three.
They cannot afford another loss to really mess things up.
Four and a half point favorite on Saturday. Where you at.

Speaker 8 (34:16):
Yeah, if you want to go on a little side
quest real quick, Billy Napier coming back. I think Mike
Norvell will be back, and I think Brett Venables will
be back. If this was three or four years ago,
those schools are probably saying, you know, screw it, will
write you, get the check and pay you the buyout.

Speaker 7 (34:31):
But they're roped in.

Speaker 8 (34:33):
Mike Norvel got that extension because he was a rumored
for the Bama job. Brett Venables, I still don't know
why he got the extension. I was really against it.
When it happened this offseason and then Napier. I kind
of on the side of Napier just because he has
the quarterback and I think if he's able to go
to administration and was able to convince him like this
is my guy, that kind of what would give him

(34:53):
another year.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
But if Lagway leaves and they're kind of screwed.

Speaker 8 (34:56):
But that was a situation too where the they don't
have a president right now, so that would be an
interim president letting Ad hire his third football coach.

Speaker 7 (35:06):
That rarely ever happens in the SEC.

Speaker 8 (35:08):
So it's my little side tangent on kind of some
of the coaches on the hot seat. Potentially you might
not many have many major opportunities or openings this year.
But I like the under a fifty four and a
half in that game. Ls USE defense has been playing
better when they haven't been playing mobile quarterbacks. When they
played mobile quarterbacks, it's been a bit of a different story.
But also, if Lagway is playing, I don't think he's

(35:30):
going to be one hundred percent if that backup are
the third strings in there. I watched that game against
Texas last week, really struggled to move the ball.

Speaker 7 (35:37):
I think that could be an ugly one.

Speaker 8 (35:38):
You get an LSU team that just got their head
kicked in and like a must win spot, but they
have no room to feel sorry for themselves because they're
still alive in the SEC. So they got to go
out and get this win. But I think it's going
to be an ugly one. I got that on my
card this week under fifty four and a half.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
Yeah, Florida State had to, I believe, fire both coordinators,
and if I'm not mistaken, yeah, both coordinators out.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
But Norvell with the buyout, sixty million dollar buyout, Yeah,
you ain't firing him, homes, you ain't fined.

Speaker 8 (36:08):
I don't think Florida State's got the money like Texas
A and M did with Jimbo. So that's a that Atkins,
I believe was the defensive coordinator. He was like rumor
for some potential big time head coaching jobs last year,
like he was one of the main candidates, and now he's.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
Without a job just a year later.

Speaker 8 (36:26):
It's crazy what Jordan Travis breaking his leg against North
Alabama of all teams did to that program in the trajectory,
because that was a team that that was my team
last year. I had him twenty to one all year
to win the national title from the preseason and ever
since that leg injury, man, the trajectory of that program
is plummeted.

Speaker 7 (36:46):
But how do you respond to that next year?

Speaker 8 (36:49):
Like, how do you have convinced guys to come play
for you out of the portal or recruits? I know
recruits have been leaving there left and right too. That's
an ugly situation right now in Tallahassee.

Speaker 6 (36:58):
Well, I would say, you know, you don't want to.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
Build a program by nothing but the transfer portal. I
would assume that probably is not something that would lead
you to, uh building.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
A solid program, but it might. It is out of necessity.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
He has to hit the portal, And I mean, at
the end of the day, dude, they fight. Like That's
how I would react to it, Like, you know, what's
wrong with chalking it up as a bad season.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
It happened. It's been a horrible season.

Speaker 7 (37:27):
We're gonna really bad.

Speaker 8 (37:29):
They were nine, they were number nine in the country
going into the year, and they're probably finished.

Speaker 7 (37:35):
They have Charleston Southern left.

Speaker 6 (37:38):
Is that a win? Even at this.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Point, I'm just saying from the standpoint of like obviously
had hit the fan.

Speaker 6 (37:46):
Everybody's got to take a step back. We're running the back.
You're not like, why fire the OC and the DC.
I get things have been bad.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
I understand that, but maybe keep everything together, reset, bring
it in, get new, hit new from the transfer portal.
At least you're showing some of these kids like, hey,
they know what they're coming into play for.

Speaker 6 (38:04):
I don't know. I'm sure there's there's ways of looking
at it both ways.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
But if I'm a recruit, if I'm somebody looking at
Florida State right now, you know I'm not looking at
them as they're on solid ground to say the least,
so I might look elsewhere. But if you kept at OC,
that DC coming back, who from what I read, are
going to be okay, they're gonna get jobs instantly.

Speaker 6 (38:26):
Not that bad.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
The previous season atrocious this year, we get it. I
just think you might have been in their favor to
keep everybody back with norvel But that's a tough spot
and Novelle's got to really believe that.

Speaker 6 (38:37):
Dude.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
If he doesn't deliver next season, he's absolutely done. But
at the end of the day, dude, you want to
fire me, I'll take my forty million.

Speaker 6 (38:44):
I'll take my forty million to see you. I'm good.

Speaker 8 (38:46):
Yeah, yeah, and go be a head coach at like
North Texas or something and do that because he was
kind of he was on the hot seat going into
last year.

Speaker 7 (38:56):
Last year, that's true, looked at it as kind of
like a make or break.

Speaker 8 (39:00):
But also it's Florida State too, where it's like coaches
are going to want to go there for the opportunity
to be the oc ort DC and look at it
as a stepping zone into a potential head coach job
in a few years down the line.

Speaker 6 (39:12):
All right, so your team this year is not in action.

Speaker 5 (39:15):
So let's take this brief moment to talk about Miami
and that tough loss last week Georgia Tech.

Speaker 6 (39:20):
Again, where do you stand on Hurricanes right now?

Speaker 5 (39:24):
That is a tough conference because there's some teams that
are probably going to be tied at the end of
this season as well.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
But where are you at right now with Hurricanes?

Speaker 7 (39:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (39:33):
This week is weird, like it's a heavy bye week.
You look at a bunch of teams and Miami is
one of those. It's been a it's kind of a
downslate this week. But I still think Miami I put
their offense up against.

Speaker 7 (39:44):
Anyone in the country.

Speaker 8 (39:45):
They show time and time again they can go out
there put up forty to fifty. Just some of the
silly mistakes, like Kim Ward is making a few bonehead plays,
and I remember seeing a tweet about him or a
quote from like a coach at the beginning of the year.
Kim Ward's either going to take this team to six
and six or go twelve to zero win the Heisman,
and he certainly has looked more like the Heisman and

(40:06):
the twelve to zero team. I'm still certainly a path
there for them to win the ACC and go to
the playoff.

They have to win out and they're if they have
another loss, it's probably going to be SMU and Clemson
going there, so no more room for error. ACC and
Big twelve are both without a doubt one Big Leagues.
Then you get the G five and then the rest
are the one SEC Auto, the one Big ten Auto,
and then kind of pick your poison between the last
whatever it is five or six teams between the Big

(43:37):
ten and the SEC and goes back to someone's gonna.

Speaker 7 (43:40):
Get left out.

Speaker 8 (43:41):
But I'm still holding that over nine win ticket for Miami.
Just win that one vACC I think was four to
one as well, and I have a twenty five to
one like bonus bet on them to win the title
and a twenty to one or twenty two to one
on cam Ward to win the Heisman.

Speaker 7 (43:57):
So still got some hope left.

Speaker 8 (44:00):
It might need an injury by gent Or Hunter for
Kim Wore to get the Heisman, but can certainly still
cash in that over nine and the ACC two as well,
And I would consider that a success for the people
laughing at me at the beginning of the year with Miami.

Speaker 5 (44:15):
Why can't we get the Hurricanes and SMU in the
championship game?

Speaker 6 (44:19):
Like that's just make that happen.

Speaker 7 (44:22):
Yeah, that would be a fun one.

Speaker 8 (44:24):
I think the only other team that would probably still
be a solid game would be Clemson. But yeah, definitely
rooting for SMU Miami. That might be the highest Power
five total of the year, Like it might be like
seventy three and a half. I think if those two
teams were facing off in the AEC title game.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
All right, Well, SMU is an action this weekend. I
don't think it's a lock that they run the table.
I just don't. And this weekend they got you know,
the Boston colleges and a team to write home about.
But it's the team that we watched a few times
and they made an interesting a few times on television
as well. I think it's a nineteen points spread, Yeah,
nineteen SMU three thirty kickoff fifty four any chance BC

(45:05):
hangs tough on Saturday.

Speaker 8 (45:08):
I think they're in a little bit of disarray right now.
Thomas Cassianos got benched on Saturday, stepped away from the program,
and now they announced today that he will be entering
the transfer portal. So you have a backup now in
for Boston College. Maybe Casianos wasn't beloved in the locker room,
or maybe he wasn't really getting along with teammates.

Speaker 7 (45:27):
Maybe the rally around the backup quarterback.

Speaker 8 (45:29):
But SMU knows they're in a position where they have
new room really to slip up right now. I think
since that BYU game, and obviously the BYU loss doesn't
look as bad, but they've been on a role a
SMU and I think they can continue to do that
this week. The thing I liked most about Boston College
with Casianos his ability to run the football in lower
possessions for an SMU team that's able to go out

(45:51):
there and put up points. The last time we saw SMU,
they were putting up forty eight points on pit. They
put up thirty four on Louisville, forty on stand for
forty two Florida State, sixty six on t TU they
can score with just about the best of them.

Speaker 7 (46:03):
So you said it best. Let's just get Miami in
SMU fast.

Speaker 8 (46:07):
Forward to the ACC title game because that would be
a fun fun track meet potentially in that game.

Speaker 7 (46:12):
But I like SMU to take care of business this week.

Speaker 6 (46:16):
Is Castiani's gonna be hot in a portal?

Speaker 7 (46:18):
I think so.

Speaker 8 (46:19):
I don't know with a power conference team, but like
he just screams a guy that goes to like a
school in the American and it's like the American player
of the year. Like send him down to like Memphis
or something, and he just like lights it up, takes
Memphis to ten and two.

Speaker 7 (46:35):
He's he's a fun player to watch.

Speaker 8 (46:37):
But I always thought it was a weird fit with
Bill O'Brien, you know, like a pro style drop back system.
He's your prototypical college quarterback zone Reid. Let him run,
but he can also make some plays with his arms.
He's definitely gonna have some shooters in the portal. But
I'm interested to see if any more news comes out
of if it was just kind of a benching and
he got upset, or if there was more to the

(46:57):
story about that.

Speaker 6 (46:58):
All right, Boise State, real quick on this one.

Speaker 5 (47:01):
Give me thirty seconds against San Jose State thirty thirteen
and a half point road favorites.

Speaker 6 (47:05):
This could be a spot that they trip up here.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
I don't know a damn thing about San Jose State,
but there's a lot of pressure on Boise State where
getting at the end here. Of course, you got to
like when you do have the opportunity to watch Boise State.
That's a fun team. They've thrown up some crypt numbers
where you're at in that one.

Speaker 8 (47:21):
I'm gonna take San Jose State to keep us in
that one. The seventy fifth best run defense, which isn't great,
you know, just a little bit below average. But their
former coach is the or their head coach right now
is the former Navy coach. So he's seen just about
every different running scheme in his life that you can
and so he's definitely had to cook up some pretty
creative run defenses in the past. He's gonna do the

(47:43):
old kitchen sink, throw it at Ashton genty and hope,
hope something hits in this one. That's your best chance
force Maddox Matson to go out there and.

Speaker 7 (47:51):
Throw the ball on you. And I think that in
this kind of scenario as well.

Speaker 8 (47:55):
For Boise State, if they are gonna be the G
five team, they need a game like this where the
quarterback goes out there wins that and gent He just
doesn't do it because if they're playing like in Ohio State,
you know, Gents has been a fantastic talent this year.
Obviously a great player, potentially gonna win the Heisman, but
you're gonna need to be able to throw the ball
against these power school teams. I think they're gonna need
a game like this where Maddix Madson has to go

(48:15):
out there and make some key plays to win. And
I think the San Jose State rushing defense in the
coordination of it could give Gente some problem. So with
that being said, gent will run for four hundred yards,
but kind of looking at it like that angle that
the coach has seen every single running play in the
history of football, he's gonna have a few kind of

(48:35):
looks up asleep.

Speaker 7 (48:36):
I think in this one.

Speaker 6 (48:37):
All right, let's get to the big one. Let's talk
about Tennessee and Georgia.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
Here.

Speaker 6 (48:41):
What's the latest with Nico ten point spread them? Doald's
favored at home? I don't like that number.

Speaker 5 (48:47):
Man, I just think that's a little disrespectful unless you
tell me Nico doesn't play.

Speaker 6 (48:51):
Where are we at with that? Though?

Speaker 7 (48:53):
Yeah, I think that's kind of baked into the number.

Speaker 8 (48:56):
When that came out, I was like, all right, that
that has to be like he's he's not playing or
he's questionable, it's a concussion with him. The backup quarterback,
Gaston Moore has only thrown forty two passes in his career,
so not a very experienced backup quarterback there. But in
this spot, like if you're not looking for a side

(49:17):
in this one, I really like the under a forty
eight and a half. Tennessee hasn't given up more than
twenty points in a game all year. We know what
Georgia's defense can look like at times, but Tennessee's defensive
line is just as good, if not better than ole Miss.
And that's where ole Miss dominated last week up front.
And it's crazy to say that Georgia got dominated in
the trenches, but that's how ol Miss beat or built

(49:39):
their roster to beat Georgia up front in the trenches.
Tennessee is built just like that. I think they have
the ability on the defensive end to just get to
Carson Beck, and if you get to him, he's going
to turn it over. He's turned it over fourteen times
this year, has eleven interceptions on the season. If they're
able to kind of flip field position, get the ball
in some short field territories, and have a really good

(50:00):
running game still with Dylan Samson, even if he goes out,
I think that they can certainly hang in this one.
If Nico's playing, I think they're a live dog for sure,
because all they're gonna need to do is hit one
or two of those deep shots, and Georgia's secondary is
not what we've seen in the past. So if Tennessee play,
if Nico's playing, I'm probably gonna even take Tennessee on
the money line and take a swing with that there,

(50:21):
eliminate Georgia, send them pack, and send them home. But
I think the under forty eight and a half some
play here. I think Tennessee does everything they can to
limit possessions and then go out there and they force
a couple turnovers on Carson Beck. I think this one's
played it in the low forties. You're looking at like
a twenty four to twenty type game, and you're hitting
the under of forty eight and a half.

Speaker 6 (50:38):
There, all right.

Speaker 5 (50:39):
I like that angle and got one last week finally
when went with Ole Miss in that spot. And I'll
tell you what, two drives into that game, I wasn't
feeling good.

Speaker 6 (50:50):
That's for damn sure.

Speaker 7 (50:51):
Sack, sack, pick, touchdown. Yeah, and then do what comes
in that kid.

Speaker 8 (50:56):
Out of hell of a drive like that is a
season saving drive from that kid. I thought he was
going to go in there and play, but great drive
marches them right back down the field and then they're
right back in it. That was a I don't think
it's been talked about enough this week how important that
kind of bounced back off that drive was. But super
impressive performance by Ole Miss and another team where they

(51:17):
have a bad loss to Kentucky. They have that loss
at LSU which they were winning most of the game.
They kind of gave it away at the end there.
But there's no way you can tell me watching Old
Miss if they're not one of the twelve best teams
in the country.

Speaker 7 (51:29):
They have to be in the College Football Playoff.

Speaker 5 (51:32):
I agree, Well, they spend a ton of money in
the offseason.

Speaker 8 (51:34):
Right, Yeah, they were my SEC pick and they're still
alive to win the SEC. But if you're making me
pick between Ohio State, Oregon and an SEC team to
be my national champion, I'm going with ole Miss right now.
Over Alabama, over Tennessee, and over Georgia and over Texas,
I'm taking Old Miss. I think the experience there, I

(51:56):
think the defensive lines there, and they've been missing some
playmakers on offense. Once those guys are fully back, that's
going to be a group you don't want to mess with.
And they look like they're hitting their shots sixty three
against Arkansas, twenty eight against Georgia, and the defense is
as legit as a group in the country. Lane's kind
of pushing the right buttons right now. Ole Miss is
definitely a force to be reckoned with. They just gotta
they can't run in tenny slip ups over these next

(52:18):
two weeks with Florida and then Mississippi State in the
last two games.

Speaker 6 (52:22):
Yeah, I'm right there with you, Beef.

Speaker 5 (52:24):
There's no reason why I'm back in Ohio State to
win it all. At plus three twenty Oregon at plus
three forty, I just feel like it could be Oregon's year.
That's a really tough Team Texas a plus four to
fifty all pass Georgia. They're gonna be gone after this weekend.

Speaker 6 (52:40):
I believe.

Speaker 5 (52:40):
I think Tennessee might even get them out right, who knows.
We'll see what happens. They're ten to one, Ole, Miss
Bama ten to one. I'm always gonna try and talk
myself into Alabama.

Speaker 6 (52:49):
Penn State No. Eighteen to one, Notre Dame.

Speaker 5 (52:52):
You'd grief at twenty to one right now, Tennessee, Indiana
twenty five to one, Miami four to forty to one,
Clemson fifty to one, SMB fifty to one, and then
we'll stop there. But I just brought up Indiana twenty
five to one. Next week's look aheadline. You know the
number against Ohio State.

Speaker 7 (53:10):
I didn't see that. I'm gonna guess.

Speaker 6 (53:13):
If you had the guess is it out yet it
is out?

Speaker 7 (53:17):
I'm gonna guess Ohio State minus seven and a.

Speaker 6 (53:19):
Half gotta go, continue to go north.

Speaker 7 (53:23):
Really nine and a half, nine and a.

Speaker 5 (53:25):
Half open yesterday, I believe it opened. I saw somebody
talking about. And then today ten and a half. So
a house State is a ten and a half point
favorite against Indiana.

Speaker 8 (53:34):
And when you still look at the college football playoff
just odds to make the playoffs.

Speaker 7 (53:39):
Indiana is minus four.

Speaker 8 (53:42):
To fifty still, so I think that goes to say
like they're baking in a loss there and they still
have Indiana at eleven and one, probably going to the playoff,
which is interesting because who, once again, who.

Speaker 7 (53:55):
Have they beat?

Speaker 5 (53:57):
College football? You gotta love it, man. You start one
way over here and then where you end up you
only you only know.

Speaker 6 (54:04):
But that's why you gotta enjoy these weekends. Man.

Speaker 5 (54:07):
I don't miss Travis Hunter when he opens up at
sixty to one to win the Heisman and now he's
minus one ninety or something like that.

Speaker 6 (54:14):
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (54:15):
We'll see what happens for Colorado's perspective. Though, a lot
of fun in this episode, Beef. We hit on a
lot once again, Thursday nights. We got a lot going down.
