Speaker 1 (00:01):
In its earliest days, the major function of radio was news.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Going on, here, beautiful, let everybody go.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Why don't you put on a show and charge a mission? Okay,
so I would say something with music and comedy. Now
you're talking, will be a show for everyone who loves
music and murder. Come on, Chuck, we got it that
show to dude. Showtime? Are you ready? I'm ready to
(00:39):

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Hi, how are you? It's it's Friday. Wow, it's Friday.
That's fantastic. It's Friday and the election is almost over.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
The days. I just watching all the crap that's going on.
Oh my god, it's exhausting, it is.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
I am mentally k What freaks me out is just
everybody's already starting to spew the it's rigged thing in
every state, and.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
It's like, oh no, no, no, no, no, we're not
doing this again, are we?
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Come on?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
No, no no no.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
So it's like, are we actually going to be Look,
whoever wins wins, right, and that and that's the way
it is. But are we actually going to play the
game either side where we pull this this crap again?
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Yes, yes we will. Oh my god, I can't. It's
going to be miserable for the next two months. I can't.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, speaking of I saw a picture of the overfloat
crowded Kamalist thing in DC all the way back to
like the monument. Yeah, did you see that? How many people?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Did they?
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I know initially that night they said it was like
seventy five thousand, But if you look at those photos,
you're like, WHOA, Like, I wonder how many people? Like
please have you seen? Have you seen any numbers on that?
I have it not since the I want to dig
into that salmon if they have an estimate of how
many it actually was.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
There was that split second in me that started to
go down there. I'm like, oh, I should go see that,
and then like I'm going to bed.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Same yeah, and then I went and then I went
these to people. That's I mean, that's not just people,
that's really people, a lot of people. Can you imagine
trying to get out of there? People?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
And I would have I would have taken the train.
Can you imagine trying to get in and out? Oh,
that would have been a nightmare.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Well, I would have. I would have walked down. Well
easy for you. I would have had to train. Yeah, hmmm.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Well, it's almost over kids. Well no, it's not. No, dammit,
No continues in drags. It's getting closer.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
To being almost over, and then it'll it'll go away eventually.
Six eleven d you See's Classic Rock.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
General Manager If you're Washington Washington Commanders Adam Peters will
join us on the show this morning at eight thirty.
I was chat with him last night and uh, I
said something about how do you think we match him
against the Steelers. I said, my brother's coming in for
that game, and I said, uh, he goes, let's just
(03:15):
concentrate on on the on this week In my head,
for some reason, I got ahead of myself and I
was like, oh, it's the Steelers this weekend.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
My brother's coming to town this weekend, and so I
was just, you know, so he won't even get ahead
in real life.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Like he's like, He's like, well, I was talking about, like,
you know, stuff we could talk about, and he said
we should just concentrate on the Giants. I'm like, oh crap,
that's my bad. I meant the Giants. I'm excited for
the Steelers game just because I got family coming in
for it.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
So is your brother?
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Is your brother going to embarrass you and like wear
his Here's Steelers, Oh, here's the bar when he comes in.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Now, if he wears a Steelers jersey, I will allow
a T shirt under a jacket if he were.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
If he tries to wear a your or tries.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
To bring in one of those damn towels, he's gonna
find out how long of a walk home it is
from Landover. It's a long walk. I've warned him absolutely,
Dude's it's out in the middle of nowhere. This is
gonna suck. It's not like you can just go across
the street and you know, so we'll see. That's up
(04:21):
to him, man, that's up to him. We will also
have some tickets to give away for Kathleen Madigan this morning.
Things I know coming up and will wrap up the
big War of the week and your trans your chance
to win Trans Siberian Orchestra tickets this morning to about
seven twenty. DC's Classic crock It's big one hundred. DC's
Classicrocket It's big one hundred.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
As picked Floyd. Another brick in the brick in the wall.
I have the uh.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
An app on my phone right right connected to my car.
It's a Toyota app and it says, uh, it'll it'll
give you notices like hey, you left it unlocked or
a window open or whatever.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
It's kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Technology is great. It'll especially the part where it says,
you know you forgot to lock it. And I got
one this morning, just a few minutes ago, and it says,
check your back seat.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I'm like, what the what? Look in there? I walked
down there. I looked in there, and I.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Have a suitcase sitting back there, and I'm like, that
must be the weight from the suitcase. But I'm like,
why would they tell you that? Check your and I
I guarantee it so people don't forget their kids.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
I put money on it, like a mass murderer in
your back seat hiding to get well that yeah, but
I mean I.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Have never seen such a thing. Check your back seat?
Speaker 6 (05:42):
What?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
And the Apple that yeah, just it sent me a
notification that said check your Toyota's back seat.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I get the warning on my dash, but I don't.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
And I'm like, okay, and I had to go. I
had left my phone down there, so I went down
there anyway. That's when I saw it. I went down
there because I left my phone in the car. I
went down, pulled the phone out, and I had a
notification check your back seat. I'm like what And then
I loved to just suitcase on the seat and I
went I guarantee it.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
That's what it is like. Don't forget your kids.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
You hear those nightmare stories about people that like just
are so exhausted, so tired, or the people that like
go to work and they are getting out they realize
I forgot to drop my kid at daycare. You know,
you just go an autopilot.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
And I will say that the only people who get
online and are judgy, well, I can't believe. You know,
did you hear about hard car? Oh my god, oh
my god. Those people who do not have kids.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
You have not had a kid, because you do go
into autopilot and there are times where you're like, oh
my gosh, yeah, absolutely where you forget to drop them
off or I've done the thing where like.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
You forget to pick my kid up. I get a
text are you gonna pick me up?
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Oh crap? But the check your back seat is new?
And I think that is Honestly, I think that you
don't forget your kids or there's a mess. Yeah, exactly,
or a mass murderer in your back seat. It's given
you a little heads up the hatchet, there's a there's
(07:13):
a dude in your back seat? What six twenty three?
The Commander's just posted the coolest thing. I always love this,
get this is even better. I always love.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Listening to the Spanish broadcast of a touchdown, right, I
just I love it and it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
And they posted the Hail Mary call in several different languages,
So whoever was calling the game in that language, which
ones do we have?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
First? We have Spanish. Listen to Spanish first, because Spanish.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
And let me just say, when you hear this guy
say touchdown, yeah, yeah, is the greatest thing I've ever
heard in my life.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I don't I'm gonna. I gotta find out. I'd love
to talk to him. I'd love to interview him, the
guy that calls the games in Spanish. He is fantastic dude.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah, well, listens, I said to call Puska Mary lamare
(08:18):
mal Mary no los a nice my submisur us a stampos,
Jane Daniels, w Glorna level Washington, come.

Speaker 2 (08:54):

Speaker 3 (08:56):

Speaker 7 (09:00):
That would be ty like sipson that come Pussim quiet up, Swazi.
Speaker 3 (09:06):

Speaker 2 (09:09):

Speaker 3 (09:13):
They come in there? Why yum? Let me by ya?
If pussy if the kid money a bossing time? How's that? Chinese?
How does that be? All doos?
Speaker 1 (09:28):
All up?
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I'm like, come go you are hows up with us?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
All be sad? Whoa?
Speaker 3 (09:44):
That was amazing? Wow, that is so good.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
You can tell those like the French and the the Spanish.
You can tell those guys have called soccer games before
letting the whole touchdown like go. That was awesome. And
that's on the Commander's Instagram or on their website. That's fantastic.
You should check that out. All right, Okay, let's take
care some business here. Things I know coming up, Timburry,
(10:10):
you'll help you get your wagers straight. Coming up at
about seven to ten this morning, Tim from the Big Wager,
which you can hear pregames right here on DC's Classic Rock.
And I should have listened to Tim. I talked to
Tim yesterday and he said, uh, he's taking the Jets right.
And then I pull up Florio's podcast. He's got a
picks podcast where they make their picks for the week,
(10:31):
and he's got a pretty good record, He's pretty solid, and.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I was like, I'm gonna go with Florio's pick. He
picked the Texans. I lost.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I should have gone exactly, I should have gone with
the damn betting guy, the guy that does it for
a living.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
But no, I listened to Florio. Oh, well, what are
you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (10:49):
All right, quick break here, We're back to in just
a few it's DC's Classic Rock, Big one hundred. DC's
Classic Rock's.
Speaker 6 (10:56):
Big one hundred.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
It's Journey anyway you want it. Six forty one. Good
morning to you. Time for things I know.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Hard to imagine now, but just forty years ago in
the nineteen eighty four, Holy crap, that just put those
two things together.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Nineteen eighty four was forty years ago. Wow, Wow, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Somebody, a young person recently said a friend of my
friend of my son's, He said, you people that were
born in the nineteen hundreds, and I went.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Oh, shut up, God, born.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
I was watching a Nickelback documentary that talked about how
big they were at the turn of the century.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
The turn of the century Nickelback.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
In nineteen eighty four, the US had its second largest
landslide in a presidential election that was on behind Franklin D.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Roosevelt.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Ronald Reagan was re elected for a second term with
five hundred and twenty five electoral votes, carrying every state
except for Minnesota. He did not carry DC either, So
he didn't carry Minnesota or DC. That's like thirteen electoral votes.
Minnesota was the home state of his opponent, Walter Mondale.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
This was the last time any candidate won the popular
vote by double digits. Reagan had fifty eight point eight
percent of the vote. There are eleven teams in the
nc doublea's Ohio Valley Conference, but none of them are
from Ohio, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana. Tennessee might consider
(12:48):
renaming that. After Jennifer Lee watched herself in the famous
shower scene in Psycho, ever took another shower, she said
she only took baths for the rest of her life.
Astronauts in space can't do laundry, so dirty clothes from
(13:10):
the International Space Station gets sent out into space to.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Burn up in the Earth's atmosphere. That's the way to
do it right there, Just throw it away, let it
burn up in the atmosphere. NASA has offices in a lab.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
In a building in New York City, right above Tom's Restaurant,
which you'd recognize as the diner from Seinfeld. I love
that NASA's upstairs. DC's Classic Rock, it is Big one hundred.
We'll take care of some business here. We're back to
just a few six forty four.
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Good Morning, WBIGFM, Washington and iHeartRadio Station, live from the
Nation's Capital. This is Big Rock Mornings with Jackson on
Big one hundred, DC's Classic Rock.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Good morning, do you it's seven o'clock. Coming up here
just a few minutes. We're gonna chat with Tim Murray
from The Big Wager. You can catch his show pre
game right here on Big one hundred before the Commander's Games,
and he'll give you some insight, little advice, and maybe
where to place your wager this weekend.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
That's coming up just around the corner on DC's Classic Rock.
It's Big one hundred.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Tim Murray from the Big Wager, which you can catch
pre games right here on Big one hundred and Tim,
I can't remember what I had for breakfast, so I
don't remember what it was you told me to jump
on last week.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
But I thank you because I did win.
Speaker 8 (14:35):
It doesn't matter because Hail Mary was caught in the
back of an end zone. Someone was celebrating in the
corner of the end zone, and the Commanders won. That's
all that matters.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Wow, how amazing was that. It's one of those things.
Speaker 8 (14:49):
My son's seven years old, not super interested in watching
football with old dad, and I go, son, please watch this,
and I paused it and he found himself very interesting.
And then the next morning, I swear to you, I
picked him up from school. We're walking out and he's
talking with his buddies. He go, did you guys see
(15:10):
the end of the game they threw the football, it
got hit up in the air and they caught it.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
For a touchdown. That's awesome. That's so cool.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah, And I love I keep talking about this because
I love that old the Tyreek Stevenson was like chirping
at the crowd at the end of the game.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
There.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I don't know if he saw that, and yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
He turned around and was like, oh crap, play, play
is happening, and he ends up being the one Little
Karma ends up being the one that tipped the ball
up in the air.
Speaker 8 (15:37):
Yeah, it is a It's a play that I don't
think will be forgotten for many, many years. And look now,
we as Washington fans, we've been dreaming for the day
of a team that we could back as much as
we want to back this team, and for that game
to end that way, let's be honest, a game that
(15:58):
Washington shouldn't have been trailing it. I mean, that was
a game that Washington was the better team for the
majority of the time. Uh, found themselves down. But maybe
that's just a sign of what the season's going to be.
I don't know, but that was remarkable, incredible.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
You gotta wonder.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
It's like I think it was Mike Florio. I think
I think that's who was talking about it this morning.
Where it's like you start to see things like that happen,
and you know that these these teams that are destined
to just do great things always seem to have things
bounce in their favor like that. So it's like may
who knows man six and two. Dude, they're six and two,
Which makes me even more concerned about the Giants this weekend.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
What do you think, Oh, yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 8 (16:37):
I mean, look, the way I've been betting my whole
life is you know, when a thing is when a
thing is great, you go the other way. And the
Giants have been dreadful their fans, I mean especially at
home too. Gosh, they have been absolutely horrendous. But you
look at that point spread and you're like, ugh, only
three and a half. It just seems like, you know,
(16:58):
in the in the theme of Halloween on Thursday, just
taking candy from a baby.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
This is so easy. So that's where I always get very,
very worried.
Speaker 8 (17:08):
You know, you've you've known me long enough now these
couple of years, we've been doing this where I like
to kind of take those ugly dogs. Last week it
was Cleveland against Baltimore. I haven't bet New York yet,
but man, I look at that line. I'm like, yeah,
that line. Yeah, So what do you get your eye
on this week?
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:26):
I know it is.
Speaker 8 (17:27):
It's kind of a tricky week when I look at it.
A couple of games that are that are jumping out
to me, it's funny. I look at Cleveland and the
Chargers Cleveland. Now it feels like teams are buying in
on on Cleveland after just one game after they beat
the Baltimore Ravens. So you do wonder as a sports
better you try to be a little bit of like
(17:48):
a day trader.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
You want to buy low and you want to sell high.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
So there is part of me that looks at the
Chargers and I kind of want to take the Chargers
in that particular spot as a one on one and
a half point underdog. But the other one that I'll
take a gander at here is Minnesota. Minnesota coming off
of loss, they are about a five point favorite against Indianapolis,
(18:12):
and the talk of this team has been the decision
to go away from Anthony Richardson and bring in Joe Flacco.
Did you know that Indianapolis? Yes, the Colts, Ladies and Gentlemen,
are the best team against the spread this year in
the NFL. They are seven and one against the spread. However,
(18:32):
when you look at the Indianapolis Colts, who are seven
and one against the spread, they're covering by just one
point five points per game. To put that in perspective,
Washington's six to one and one against the spread, Detroit
six and one against the spread, and they're both covering
by over nine points per game. So Indianapolis is just
getting by the skin of their teeth. I'm gonna lay
(18:55):
the five with Minnesota on Sunday night football against the Indianaple.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
All Right, I like it.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
I like it all right, not to get a to
get ahead. But you're a fan, so it's all right.
It's not like I'm talking, of course not. It's not
like I'm talking to one of the coaches here. How
do you think we match up against the Steelers? I'm
really looking forward to that game.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Wow. I think the biggest thing is what are we
going to do as fans?
Speaker 6 (19:19):
Right?
Speaker 8 (19:19):
You're going to keep out those ugly towels because you
know they're coming. I mean, look, I've I lived in
that town long enough. I remember how many of those
towels have residency in uh in the DMV, So uh no,
I I at this point, is there any team that
really scares you? I mean, I know it's crazy talk,
(19:39):
and the defense is getting better, and when you've got
Jayden Daniels, I feel like.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
You're in any any game. But yeah, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 8 (19:47):
And uh, I wish I could be there from you know,
three thousand miles away. But those towels I have, I
have some vivid memories of them taking over that stadium.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Right now.
Speaker 8 (19:59):
We're on the up and up right, Yeah, keep those
damned you can't keep them all out, but try to
keep him out right.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Well, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
My brother is a monster Steelers fan and he's actually
coming in for the game, and I yeah, and I
told him, no jersey, no towel unless you want to
walk home. And I don't know if you've ever been
to Landover, but that's not going to be a fun
walk home.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
It's gonna be a long one.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's not a fun drive, right right, Tim Burray, thank
you so much, man, always a pleasure to speak with you.
Have a great weekend, and I'll go with your picks again.
I've been lucky with you so far.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Fingers cross.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Let's go home, all right, buddy, Thanks man. DC's classic Crocket.
It's big one hundred, Tom Petty free falling, it's Jackson here,
good morning.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
Do you.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Let's give away some tickets for Trans Siberian Orchestra Will
wrap up the big Word of the week here and
your final letter, the big Word.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Of the week on Big one hundred. Today's letter is
the letter E is an equal the letter E elephant.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
That completes your word. Give us a buzz if you
know the word, win the prize. TSO tickets one eight
hundred and four and Aine three one double O three.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Good luck from Big one hundred.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, DC's Classic Rocket's Big one hundred, and let's see
if we can get a winner here on the Big
Word of the Week.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
It is complete. We'll go to the phones. Hi, who's this?
This is a show, Joe, how are you this morning?
I'm fine? How are you good?
Speaker 6 (21:25):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (21:26):
If you've been keeping track of the letters, you know
the word. What's the word dodge? It is indeed dodge.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
You got it?
Speaker 6 (21:34):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Hey, we're gonna set you up with tickets for Trans
Siberian Orchestra.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Yeah, stand by man, we'll get you all set up
all right.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Okay, next week we will have tickets for Iron Maiden
for the Big Word of the week right here on
DC's Classic Crocket's Big one hundred. Well, DC's Classic Rocket's
Big one hundred.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Oh, holy crap. We're into November. You know, it just
hit me.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
It's November first, it is. Hey, don't forget this weekend
is the weekend you set your clocks back, You get
that extra hour of sleep. This is the good one.
Don't waste it. Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday. Was
that like two in the morning, Yes, Sunday.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
And I've always wondered about that, Like if we can
all just like get together and mutually agreed at two
o'clock is really one o'clock. What stops us from getting
together on Monday morning and just mutually agreeing that it's Friday.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Night, Well, nothing at all. By that logic, we can
do that. Let's do it. I think we should roll
with it. What's holding us up? Nothing, there's nothing, there's
no reason we can't do that. We'll get a memo
from corporate it says you can't do that.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (22:42):
We mutually agreed a few things you can look forward
to in November outside of that extra hour sleep. Daylight
Saving Time ends on Sunday. Election Day is Tuesday, of course,
thank god. And it looks like the NBA season, of course,
just got started. The MLS playoffs are underway. The NASCAR
(23:02):
Cup Series Championship goes down the tenth to November. Jake
Paul and Mike Tyson are going to finally fight on Netflix.
That's on November fifteenth, if all goes well, and Yellowstone
is finally back of part two of their fifth season.
If you're a fan, but more exciting for me, part
two of the sixth season of Cobra Kai.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Is this the final part or is there going to
be a third?
Speaker 6 (23:27):
No?
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I think this is the final part and it's on
Netflix on the fifteenth, and I sat down and watched
part one. I did not know that it was going
to be split into two parts, and it's so much
Keyese that it's awesome.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
I need to make sure that there's not a third
it is, because that's why I held off on watching
the first one.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Oh my god, it's so good. It's so cheesy and
so bad that it is fantastic. Cobra Kai, my son
and I just are obsessed with it. And I watched
the first half of the sixth season not realizing that
it was going to be into two parts, and I've
never been so frustrated.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
In my life.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
He got to the best part, like, oh my god, wait, wait,
where's the next episode?
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Where to go? And it wasn't there.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Dune Prophecy premieres on HBO and Don Max on the seventeenth,
and of course the holidays this month, Veteran's Day and
Thanksgiving on the twenty eighth, which means, well, Thanksgiving, it's
a little late this year, so your old Black Friday
and Cyber Monday and.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
All that good stuff will be a little bit later
this year. Twenty eighth is the latest day possible for Thanksgiving.
Last Thursday in November, right, yeah, there you go. So yeah,
all right, November first, here we are.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
We're in and the commanders are six and two and
we're gonna chat with that in Peters about that coming
up at eight thirty this morning. It is seven forty
two DC's Classic Rock, Big one.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
Hundred WBIGFM, Washington and iHeartRadio Station, Live from the Nation's Capital.
This is Big Rock Morning with Jackson on Big one
one hundred DC's Classic Rock.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Hey, good morning to you. It's eight o'clock. We will

first shot.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Just after nine o'clock this morning on DC's Classic Rock.
It's Big one hundred. DC's Classic Rock is Big one hundred.
Down hunder.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
There's been at work. It's Jackson here, Good morning to you.
We'll chat with Adam Peters coming up here in just
a few. Here's the headline. You can't make this stuff up.
Astronomers found something cold and wet near Uranus. That's the headline.
That's one news outlet put out after scientists although this
(25:59):
is interesting and said one of Uranus's moons might have
liquid water. They think it used to have an ocean
that was about sixty miles deep. Some nerd news for you,
and some of the water they think is still there.
If it is, that could also mean that there's life
orbiting Uranus. Stop in fourth grade. Come on, man, it's
(26:27):
eight oh nine, Florida.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Man is coming. Would you drink water found on Uranus?
That's probably saltwater?
Speaker 1 (26:36):
So hey, look, if there's life on a moon, orbiting uranus.
That's pretty big news. We will take a break here.
Florida Man's coming up, Adam Peter's coming up, and we'll
give you a chance to win some tickets. We have
one last pair of tickets for that comedy show with
Kathleen Madigan right here on DC's Classic Rocket's Big one
(26:58):
hundred DC's Rock this Big one hundred and white wedding
from Billy Idol Jackson here. Good morning, it is Big
Rock morning time once again for Florida Man.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Florida Man.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I saw a meme this morning, you know how, like
especially on your phone, when like little ads will pop
up right and the little X that you have to
hit yes is like microscopic y or completely invisible. You can't.
It's like your fingers are too fat and you just
can't close out the ad.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
You gotta like power your phone down to get out
of it.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
It popped up again in front of me this morning.
There is a story this morning, nothing too crazy, just
kind of I don't know if I'd be going back
in the same water. There's a guy that he just
a couple of days ago shark attack in Florida. He's
a surfer and he was surfing at a a place
(28:01):
called the Bathtub Bathtub Beach in Martin County, Florida, and
he came back in with his feet in the air, screaming,
I got bit, I got bit. He told the CBS Miami.
He believes he was attacked by either a bull shark
or a tiger. A tiger shark both of his feet.
He says, we're in the creature's mouth.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
So his feet dangling off the board, and the shark
came up and took both of his feet in the mouth.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
He said it was like the sharpest knife you could
ever imagine, times ten, and he says it just cuts
right through you. He told the CBS News Miami that
it was probably his quick thinking and his faith that
saved him.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
He was able to use the surfboard.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Leash around one of his thighs to cut the blood
off to used it as a tourniquet. He said, he
got to the beach, his girlfriend put a towel around
his feet, and they put him in a truck.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
And he tore off to the hospital.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
As his friend Zach was driving, and got there a
heck of a lot faster than he thinks.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
An ambulance would have ended up with ninety three stitches
and eight staples in his feet. He says, as soon
as he's healed, he'll be back out in the water again.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Here's the interesting part. This is not his first encounter.
He was bitten by a shark ten years ago and
on this in the water, off this exact same beach.
Back then he only required like twelve thirteen stitches. But
he kin got bit by a shark surfing these waters
(29:35):
ten years later, gets him again, this time almost takes
both his feet off, and he's healing up.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
He's gonna grow right back out to the same beach again.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
I mean, one of the odds, you think, one of
the odds of being a bit twice pick a different beach.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah, but that's where it's start going.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Yeah, I don't know, man, the shark is starting to
realize lunch is here just about every morning.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
It's about every late morning.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
Right.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
It is eight twenty six DC's Classic Rock. It's Big
one hundred.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
We're gonna chat with Adam Peters, general manager of your
Washington Commanders, coming up in minutes right here on Big
one hundred. It is eight thirty two DC's Classic Rock,
Big one hundred and our chat with Adam Peters every
week powered by fog Enigma, Command the cloud and dominate
cybersecurity operations with fog Enigma. Adam, you keep winning games,
(30:24):
and I'm going to complete my shrine to you. I
know it sounds a little weird, but I got a
little zinc garden I got. I got a picture of you.
You're surrounded by palm trees. There's a lucky pair of
underwear in the corner. It's it's kind of long messer.
Congratulations man, on another great win.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
That is super creepy.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Wait till I started sending you pictures of it. No,
what a what a fantastic win man. Clearly the It's
Jackson's birthday speech that you gave the team worked.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
Oh yeah, that was really the catalyst.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
I actually gave it right before the hail Mary. Oh
you sideline all together and then.
Speaker 6 (31:07):
Do it for Jackson, and they did it for you.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
But it that's awesome.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
You know.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
It's funny. As we were talking about.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
While I was talking about wanting to steal his job,
your stadium anouncer Mark Fredo, he sent me a message
inviting me to stop by the booth anytime He's like, Hey,
I heard you talking to Adam Peters this morning. You're
more than welcome to stop by the booth and say
hi anytime. I'm like, God's so funny.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
So that's awesome.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Yeah, he probably you're gonna throw him out the window.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Yeah, take a job. Yeah, it'll be it'll be a
little just a little nudge.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
So I saw the camera panned to you and Josh
on the sideline right after the Bears scored, I believe
and and you both kind of had that same look
that Will had.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Wow, tough game. Looks like we're gonna end up losing
this one. At the end of the game.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
What was the the swing and emotions like when that
hail Mary was caught on the sideline, Like, because you
were down there on the sideline when things are erupted,
what was that like to go from a bummer to
holy crap?
Speaker 6 (32:08):
Yeah, it was wild.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
I never I don't think I've ever been a part
of anything like that. Right there, I was really actually
pretty close and next to Jaden where the play was happening.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
And then I mean I just blacked out after that.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
I just started running. I don't know what I was doing,
And it was wild, and then I started running towards players,
and they running towards me, and then I started getting
scared because they're gonna off me over, so I ran
away from him and I went to self preservation.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
After that, Yeah, well I saw I saw dan Quinn
run out too, and he's like he's like ripping his
head set off, and he just looking for a place
to put it. So he just throws it on the
ground and he looks like it's one of those things.
It's so unexpected. It didn't even look like he knew
which direction to go or where to go. He probably
had the same reaction you did, kind of blacked out.
But I have watched that play. The fantastic thing about
(32:58):
social media is seen video of that play from just
about every angle you can imagine.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
From the sidelines, from the stands, I.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Think a little karma came Stevens's way, the guy that
was chirping at the fans right before that play went down.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
I've seen that video. Just amazing.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Jaden played banged up and and still looked really good.
And it comes down to like leadership and being a
tough player, and obviously he's very tough and getting the
job done. He's he's really made a statement here and
says a lot about who this young man is and
who he wants to be for this team.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
You got to be super proud of this kid.
Speaker 6 (33:38):
Yeah, I mean it.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Every week, you know, you're you're more and more proud
of really him and the whole team.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
You know, we're going in a week nine here and
really we haven't had a.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Buy yet and we don't we still don't get to
buy it for a while. We haven't really late by.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
So there's a ton of guys playing banged up.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
I know Jaden got a lot of the attention, and
rightfully so being being the quarterback, but he's just he's
just one person that really embodies, you know, who we
are as a team and a lot of guys going
out there and getting it out and it's just I'm
really proud of him, proud of the whole team for
just battling and really to the last second every game.
Speaker 6 (34:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, and you must be.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
You must be thrilled for the fans because I think
about the fan base and I see how into it
everybody is, you know, and after some lean years, these
fans remained loyal.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
They're out in full force. They're enthusiastic, they're excited for
the team.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
And I was talking to somebody the other day, might
have been LeVar Arrington who's saying the great thing about it,
was like, Commanders fans really deserve this football and the
DMV matters again. And that is a direct result of
what you guys have done with this team and the
players you've brought in and the atmosphere you've created. But
do you ever stop, and like I'm sure you do,
(34:48):
like stop and look up into the stands and go, wow,
look at this fan base, Look at this.
Speaker 6 (34:53):
Yeah, it's been awesome. All home games have been great.
Our fans have been.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Awesome, and you know, hearing things that that's really cool
to hear. It makes you proud, It makes you you
want to go out there and keep doing that. And
the players really feed off that. I can't tell you
how pumped the players are for this fan base and
how they feed off those.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
Third downs, those fourth downs.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
You saw it with the false starts in different precint penalties.
That's starting to really come alive and we.
Speaker 6 (35:19):
Got to keep building that.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
And really it's a neat special feeling to be in
the DMV and to feel this this fan base really
come alive. It's awesome and we want to keep it going.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Yeah, and you've you know, you've played worked with teams
around the country, uh, and have been a part of,
you know, some very successful organizations. Could you share, like
a story of a coach or a player, or you
know even a peer that made a significant impact on
you personally throughout your career.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Yeah, that's a really that's a great question. And a
lot of times I think if.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
You ask me or anybody you know, and this.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Is whether it's a coach or a player, you always reflect.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
Back on, you know, your time as a younger, younger.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Person, you know, a kid in high school or college
where somebody really impacts you, you know as you know,
as you're developing and teaches your life lessons. So I
had a great high school coach, Dave Viera, who's he's
actually coming out to our Steelers game. So he's gonna
fly out to come to our Steelers game, which is
gonna be really cool.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Yeah, taught me just a lot of incredible lessons, just
you know, how to push through things, mental toughness, consistency.
He has this saying and it was he actually coached
baseball too, and I'll never forget it. Repetition is the
mother of learning, and so you know, it's really uh,
I mean, it holds true to baseball, football. It's whatever
(36:47):
you do in life, and and you know, just keep
keep doing it over and over and over again.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
And DQ says it.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
All the time. Just keep doing the same things, the
right things, over and over and over again and and
really become really good at something. And so I think
that if you if I would talk about play or
coaches that had an impact on me.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
It's really not so much.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
You know, the guys that I'm around now that've been
around a lot of great ones and certainly taking lessons
from them, but the ones that have impacted me the most.
Coach Gierra I had coached in college, Don Johnson was
my line coach, and really those guys, you know, really
mold like me, and really whoever they worked with and
the people they are now.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
Yeah, that's you know, it's fascinating too, because if you
think about it, he asked people that question, and I
see it with my kid playing football and the coaches
he's working with now, and I realize how much of
an impact they're having on him and who he'll become
as a man. And when I think back to like,
like who made an impact on my life?
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Same thing.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
I go all the way back to high school and
I had like a creative writing teacher who who actually
walked by my desk one day and threw a bunch
of brochures on the desk for colleges that had broadcasting
programs and said, you have a really big mouth, you
should put it to you.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
And I'm not kidding.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
That's where my interest started in media, which is just insane.
But it goes all the way back to high school,
very similar.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
That's that's great, great, and he really realized how much
of an impact that teachers have. So when you have
great teachers, great coaches at a young age, it really
really helps a lot. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah, here's a here's a question for you because I've
been thinking about this. Players they have agents. The agent's
job is to get that player the best deal they
can get them. Your job is to have the team's
best interest in hand. How do you build relationships with
these agents while still advocating for the best interest of
(38:44):
the team.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Yeah, that's another great question, and I think you know
it's something that's essential to be in really good too
well run organization and good at these jobs. And to
have you really have to have great relationships with all
the agents, and he try to and you strive to.
It's never you know, I think when you get into
you know, contract negotiations, it does get contentious, and that's okay,
(39:09):
but because you're advocating for something and they're advocating for something,
and as long as but it starts with developing and
respect and or rapport long before those negotiations come along.
And I'll give you an example, like with Sam Cosm.
He has great agents, Ryan Tolner and Chase Callahan, and
they have known those guys for years, and whether it's
(39:30):
you know, talking about draft guys, whether it's just signing
a guy off the street, whether it's doing a tryout,
you know, you develop relationships with them, you know, on
the road, in college, on pro days, whatever it is,
during the combine.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
So you really you start off on the right note.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
You start off with with a level of respect for
each other and understand their ad advocating for a great
player and Sam and trying to find a middle ground
that works for Sam and for the team. And you
always want to do right by the player. You never
want to in my opinion, you really don't want to
win the negotiation because you know that doesn't feel good
for anybody, And so you want to find something that's
(40:06):
fair and and that starts with having that respect going
into it. And so there's tons of agents, and you know,
people you know will portray agents one way or the other.
But I can tell you the vast, vast majority of
them are really good people and really good at their
jobs and good to work with.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Yeah, that mutual respect is what it sounds like.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
So being a part of again, some exceptional organizations over
the years and seeing what's in folding unfolding in front
of you now as we approach week nine, do you
see any similarities in this team, in this organization, players
embracing coach Quinn, anything that reminds you of a winning
culture and a total buy in like you've seen at
(40:51):
other organizations.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah, I mean, I think you know, it's hard to
compare teams in different teams in different eras and different coaches,
and you know, everybody has their own style, but I
think you know what we have here is probably the
common denominator is the players in the locker room and
the leadership that you have in the locker room and
incorporate the guys that can you know, keep the ship
(41:14):
steered in the right way. And you know we have
you know what's cool with Deeke you has really done
and really the whole coaching staff and along with the
players is just built a really strong bond really quickly.
And to have the brotherhood that you hear guys talk
about here. You know, you hear that word a lot
when you interview our players and it's a real thing.
And so having that leadership, having that togetherness, I think
(41:37):
that's it's different every everywhere you go, but you like
a different style maybe and the different maybe use different words,
but it is that togetherness. It's that teamwork, that's having
each other's back. So when you do get into these
you know, big time moments, you know you can trust
the guy next to you and you're playing for the
guy next to you. And I think that's really the
most common nominators throughout really all good teams across you know,
(42:00):
sports and eras.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Yeah, that camaraderie. Yeah, yeah, it's just like willing to
you know, fall on a sword for the guy next
to you. That's that's what you want to see, and
that is what we're seeing, which is amazing. So trade
deadline is coming up next Tuesday, I believe, and I
know you can't discuss specific trades, but who you're.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Going to trade for?
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Yeah, I gotta try. Actually, yeah, I heard a little pause.
I was like, maybe it's gonna say no. Actually, the
question I had is just about the process that goes
on behind the scenes for stuff like that when a
team is considering a deal, whether they're shopping a player
(42:47):
or they're interested in someone.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
On your roster, what steps do they take? Is that
like a direct phone call to you?
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Do you have guys under you that they deal with
those things before it reaches your desk?
Speaker 3 (42:58):
How does that work?
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Yeah, you're right, it is a process and you have
to have you know, you have to be organized. And
so we have we have a handful of guys here
or making calls, and they're calling their counter parts across
the league, whether it's pro scouts, you know, assistant gms
like Lance new Mark and UH player personnel directors like
David Blackburn, and they're calling their counterparts around the league
(43:23):
and just you say like, all right, well you guys
are going to be active at the trade deadline? Is
there anything you're looking for? Is there anything anybody you're
shopping and so you put together I mean essentially it's
like a Google doc, you know, where everybody compiles the
information and then you know, if something gets serious, and
then that's when it kind of gets run up the
ladder to me or do they run up to their
(43:45):
GM calls me or I call them and you just
discuss it and see if it makes sense, like how
serious it is. If it's you know, a lot of
times it's a false alarm, you know, where you maybe
something that wards got crossed up or something like that.
But you really just have to be you know, continuing
to call and ask around and read reports and just
be active all the way up to the point of whether.
Speaker 6 (44:07):
You're going to do it or not going to do it.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
But you really just pushing, push and pushing until you
get to that point and then you make that decision.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Yeah, And it's Look, I have a ton of respect
for for what you guys do because that cannot be
easy because you always you've always got the team's best
interest in mind.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
You're always looking at building now versus building for the future.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
It's just amazing to stand on the outside looking in
and see how you guys do this, and uh, thus
far Man, you're doing a pretty good job, Adam, you
really are.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
I appreciate you saying that, but it's, uh, his team
is awesome. And the people that are in this building
and come in here every day and work their tails off,
you know, from the beginning to the end. It's it's
a lot of fun and we're having a great time.
And you know, we're eight games in, so we got
a long way to go. But I appreciate you saying that.
And we're going to keep keep working to keep getting better.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
So who are you going to trade for?
Speaker 6 (45:07):
Well, nobody can keep asking that question.
Speaker 4 (45:09):
I got work.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
No final question. How do you how do you it's
a it's a division game. Division games you can never
take lightly. They're always tough games. How do you take
your guys match up against the giants?
Speaker 4 (45:22):
You said it? Division games are always harder. Division games
on the road were even harder. And you know each other,
you know what you do well, you know what you
don't do well, and so these things are battles. You
just want to go out there and come out with
the win, Harvey, you can and.
Speaker 6 (45:39):
Do you throw the records out the window. That's whether
we're you know, oh to eight and they're eight no,
and vice versa. And you know, you just got to
go out there and grind all the very end like
our guys do every week. So, uh, this is gonna
be a.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
Really tough matchup. They have a really, really tough defense.
They have some really like explosive guys up front that
we have to block, and they have some explosive playmakers
on offense too, so you know it's going to be
a battle. They're well coached team. They have a you know,
good head coach, good GM that I've known very well
for a long time. And I know they're going to
be ready for it. But I know our guys will
(46:13):
be ready for it too, and they're they're dialed in
and ready to go.
Speaker 6 (46:16):
So you know, classic NFC rivalry, man, that's what you
live for.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Yeah, they're the games I absolutely look the most forward
to because they're always so hard fought.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
They're just fantastic games.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Whether it's you know, the Eagles or Dallas or the Giants,
is like those are always the best games because, like
you said, you kind of throw the records out the
window and it's like this is division and they're always good.
So I'm really looking forward to this one.
Speaker 3 (46:41):
Adam.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
It is always a pleasure to speak with you, my friend,
and look forward to talking to you again next week.
And I hope we keep talking about wins, so we'll
check next week.
Speaker 3 (46:52):
Yeah, right, all right, Adams Jackson on great weekend about YouTube. Man,
We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
That's Adam Peters, general manager of your Washington Commanders with
this every Friday, powered by fog Nigma Command the Cloud
in dominate cybersecurity operations with fog Enigma.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
I of the Tiger DC's Classic Rock. It's a big
one hundred DC's Classic Rocket. It's big one hundred. I
have a Tiger Survivor. I was I was looking. I
was like, I hung my headphones up. Crash.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
That's so I was like putting my thumb up. I
was throwing my thumb up to say, can I talk yet?
Because I put my headphones away too early, and I'm like,
I can't hear it. I didn't know what you were doing.
I think that song is ending, but I can't hear it.
And time I didn't have time to dig them back
out a big tanks. To Adam Peters, always a pleasure
to chat with him, and I love talking to him.
(47:46):
He's never going to answer that question, though, is he?
Speaker 4 (47:48):
No?
Speaker 1 (47:48):
Never, Well, deadlines next week so we won't have to
call come up with something else.
Speaker 3 (47:52):
He won't answer.
Speaker 6 (47:54):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
They're good like that, man.
Speaker 1 (47:55):
You know, you talk to these coaches, you talk to
these players and Adam the GM and it's one week
at a time, one game at a time. They never
want to get too far ahead. And you know, they
don't reveal their secrets, which they shouldn't. I love the
fact and I felt like it was a page right
out of and as a matter of fact, Adam was
(48:16):
in New England. I thought it was a page right
out of Belichick's book where And I love seeing them
do it when you know, we were all wondering if
Jaden was going to play against the Bears, and you
know when did we find out?
Speaker 3 (48:30):
Twenty minutes before the game.
Speaker 1 (48:32):
No, that's great. You know what you're doing when you
do that. Look, they may have known he was going
to play days before that. Maybe they didn't, who knows,
but they didn't reveal it until they had to reveal it,
and that makes the other team prepare for two quarterbacks
right up until game time.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
Like they have to strategize.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
They have to think about what's it going to be
like in for playing Mariota, what's it going to be
like and for playing Daniels, And so they have to
prepare for both, which gives you.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
A little bit of an edge.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
Then you're right.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
It was like minutes before the game when I found out.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think. I don't yeah, I
don't think. I think Dennis texted me maybe an hour
before the game instead he's playing. I was like, oh okay,
finally there's some news. But yeah, it's you know, it's
all part of the game, all part of the game.
It's eight fifty five. It's DC's classic crack. We have
one last pair of tickets to go away for Kathleen Madigan,
a comedy show coming up.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
If you'd like to be there, we can set you up.
We'll do it with what have we learned on the
show today? What do we got? Scientists found something near uranus.
Let's be mature what they find. Oh okay, okay, start
trying to think.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
I was thinking of the headline and I'm like, no,
it was a specific thing they found. If you know
what that is, one eight hundred four nine three one
doublow three good luck from Big one hundred, DC's classic crack.
It's Big one hundred, Big congrats going out to Dave
and McLain scored the tickets our last pair. As a
matter of fact, for Kathleen Madigan, they found water. That's
(49:59):
what they found. They found water on the moon next
to uranus, which means there could be there could be life.
That's big news in nerd News this morning. Next week,
we're gonna have tickets to feel away for well every day.
We're gonna have tickets for the Steelers game. The home
game is against the Steelers. Some nice prize next week.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
Make sure you tune in.
Speaker 1 (50:23):

big commercial Free Hour. Here's the cars.
