(00:00):
It may be a wee bit prematuremaybe, but it's tough to contain my
excitement. So uh, we played. We are the champions for Coach Quinn
and the Commanders, right. Sonow let's cue the music to bring him
on. Oh yes, let thatplay a little build, build the anticipation,

(00:29):
head coach. If you're Washington Commanders, Dan Quinn, Dan, that
is your walkout music. Little bonJovi for you this morning, Jackson.
I appreciate that you always bring thesuits at uh. I appreciate it person
to start with a little Queen LittleJovi. I don't know what you have
up your sleeve, but I wouldbe that whatever's coming next is gonna bring

(00:51):
it as well. Man with youyou got it? Man, Hey,
first and foremost, congrats on agreat draft. That has to feel good.
I mean that grades around the aroundthe league, or you know,
you listen to sports radio, watcha little sports TV, whatever the case
is. It's like everybody's giving you, guys an a A plus, A
plus plus, like fantastic job.Man. Yeah, we knew and this

(01:14):
team and the staff really worked atit. Man. We spent a lot
of time together to make sure weknow how important this is. For the
team, for the franchise, forthe fans, and so we don't ever
take that lightly. And so knowingsomething like that so important, you put
a lot of time and effort intoit. And honestly, what I'm most
excited about is these guys getting intotown. Man. So we begin their

(01:34):
full on process of you know, becoming a commander this weekend, and so
we'll start with a rookie camp andprogram to kind of indoctrinate them, and
then as we get into next week, we'll start the process and then jumping
right into this competition here man,at every spot all along the way.
So it'll be a pretty cool acouple of weeks here as we're starting to

(01:57):
build this whole group together. SoI'm really pumped at yeah. Yeah.
So I had the chance to chatwith Adam Peters last week and I was
saying, hey, man, youguys, you got your number two pick,
and he stopped me right there andhe said, let's be clear,
He's like, we got our numberone pick. He's like, Jaden was
the best guy on the board. We wanted him, we got him.
So tell me, like what yousee in this kid that's just going to

(02:20):
make him a great fit and hopefullya generational quarterback. Well one, I
think what really like sets you knowhim apart, and what makes it unique
is like at his core and thisis a dog ass competitor, like he
will fight for it, get better, He'll fight for improvement. He's got
a lot of stars. And ifyou just kind of see the progression you

(02:40):
know that ballplayer makes and like howhard they take for it, how hard
they go, that's to me likethe mark of somebody that's really going for
it. When you're already playing good, it's easy to sit back. I'm
doing a nice job. I'm doinggood. He went to LSU, you
know they did well, so theya little different than going and I'm staying
and I'm coming back and I'm goingto go for it in the biggest way.
So like that alone, mindset goesand then Jackson, I think the

(03:05):
next thing is like his ability likeoff schedule plays to go make it happen
like that happens to comes to Blissto beat that. There comes you know
a rusher that cuts, you knowaround the corner and he can you know,
make somebody miss and you know killyou either with his feet or keeping
the play alive and throwing it.So those are traits that every good quarterback

(03:25):
has. Everybody runs, but everyquarterback who really lights it up, they've
got to be able to move inthe pocket, get rid of the ball,
you know, when they need to. And so he has those traits,
and uh, we'll work our assoff and help them, you know,
with all the supports, the needsand guys like you know Marcus who
are here, you know, arereally you know, part of this whole
competition that we're just kind of pushingin every part of the program. Mat

(03:49):
So that's really cool, right, and that you know, that dual threat
really opens up the field. Imean when you got a quarterback that,
like, you know, he canthrow, but when they have to fear
that run too, right, Yeah, better you better watch it, you
know, because when somebody is thatway, you know, it kind of
dictates how you have to play. You know, you can't turn your back
and you have to have more visiondefenses. And so when you have that,

(04:10):
it does alter you know who youare and how you want to play,
and so it you know, itdoesn't handcuff you, but it does
make you play a little bit differently. And he's somebody that's athletic enough and
on the move to to make youmake you pay. Yeah, so you
guys drafted, I mean practically everyposition. I always love to ask this
question because I'm always curious, andnow that the draft is over, it's

(04:31):
not like I'm asking for strategy oranything. But but when when you see
all these great players, you knowon the board, are you looking at
like best player available or are youlooking at a need in a certain position
or is it a combination of booths? Yeah, it's a combination, because
it's always a fun question that weall discussed every time this year. You

(04:54):
know the need or I you know, the best available. The other thing
that like goes into play is youknow, if you a picture of thirty
two draft boards, they wouldn't beidentical. You know, who where,
who's into this? How does itfit? And so like that's what makes
putting this whole puzzle together like somuch fun because you want to make sure
that you're just continuing to add theright kind of guys. And I think

(05:16):
Jackson always felt this way, likeyou get the right guys on the bus
man and then you can put theminto the right seats and so adam you
know, really orchestrated this whole thingfantastically of adding guys onto this team that
are just ready to bring it.So I'm really excited to you and our
fans and everybody's watch some of theseguys and the roles that you know,
they create for themselves, because that'sreally what now. And then we get

(05:39):
into training camp and in the earlyparts of the season is when some of
those roles come to life and ittakes a while to figure out, you
know, somebody's superpower and how dowe feature them? And those are the
things that make coaching, man,it's so much fun. Well, I
tell you what I'm excited about.I'll jump ahead here, but what I'm
excited about is McCaffrey. Because youwere talking about putting guys in the right

(06:00):
It's like, that's a guy thatstarted college I think at Nebraska's quarterback.
They went to Rice and he wasplaying quarterback and then he makes the move
to wide receiver and arguably he's justas good, if not better than his
brother. You see something in thekid, maybe that he may turn out
to be a superstar down the road. I think what you see when you

(06:23):
put somebody like you know, especiallyin the slot as a receiver, you
know, can they beat somebody oneon one? Can they understand a leverage?
When things happen in the slot, they happen really quickly, Jackson.
So like you have to almost thinklike a quarterback, Well, guess what
this guy was, you know,a quarterback, So who's taking snaps?

(06:44):
You know behind? You know, looking at in games, they have a
different perspective on the things. Solike if you put that person and then
enter them into another position, it'sa really big deal. So having the
mental quickness to make quick decisions insideand slot, it's a really cordon facet
to it. Like you know,we go to a combine and we see,
you know, how fast somebody isand we get their measurables, but

(07:04):
we don't know how quickly they process. You know, there's not like a
combine for that. So what yousee is, hey, you know how
quickly somebody can work a route, work a leverage, get open And so
to see that happen in a shorttime, I would bet that, you
know, the quarterback background has someability to do that. And then the
first can develop them man and puteverything we have into him and the seammates

(07:27):
to make sure, like we cantake him absolutely, you know, as
far as we can. And noone likes the rookies, Like there's learning
curse for all of them, andthat's our job as coaches man to like
help move that out. Man.So they got a bunch of really cool
teammates to learn from. If Iwas a receiver, I could promise you
and you told me I got togo work with Terry mcfarne, Like I
would run to that opportunity if myname was McCaffrey, you know, like

(07:51):
I like like, hey, youneed more water, I'll go get it,
Like we're going to talk all day. So those are things that like
as a rookie, when you havesomebody to take you on, you know
a little bit like mentor mentee.A lot of us have those in our
lives, people that we really counton, we call for advice, we
go. Let me tell you it'sno different as a ballplayer. You know,

(08:13):
when you're coming in as a rookie, if you ask a lot of
the veterans and man who took youunderr wing, who helped you almost I
bet you know, seven out often guys can rip off somebody that was
super influential their first year as aballplayer. Sure. And so you guys,
I mean obviously are going to bepretty happy with what you were able
to accomplish in the draft. Doyou feel like there's still some areas in

(08:33):
there where you'd like to like toimprove, whether it be through free agency
or yep. And I think thatpart what I want, you know,
like you'll hear it from you alot. We'll talk a lot, but
like the competition is like literally whatwe're built tom Man, it's a central
theme of that. We're going todo it so like getting better never stops.

(08:54):
We're literally going to go for itat every single moment that we can
to help our team, you know, like that's our response ability to do
that. So the best of thebest. You know, you don't pick
your team. Okay, this iswhere it is, like we're always going
to compete, man, to seecan this change? Can we keep pushing
it to go? And what alsohappens is like all that competition brings out
the very best in everybody. SoI would say, no, we're not

(09:16):
done, but that's kind of ournature of how we'll go about it,
and so that won't that won't everstop, you know, finding ways to
compete, see how we can improvedif it's by small margins Jackson like we're
going for it. Yeah, andwhat look nine players in the draft?
I think it was like eleven undraftedfree agents. You got the rookie Minnie
camp coming up, and you're gonnahave a lot of guys there that you

(09:37):
know may very well end up beingpractice squad guys important position. But sometimes
in those camps you do find asCinderella, right, you do? You
do see some guys that that standout and uh And I think the first
couple of people I thought of waslike that quarterback Sam Hartman uh and running
back Austin Jones. And it's likewhen you're when you're watching these guys in

(10:00):
these camps, are you looking forthat next Senderella story? I think you
also have to, you know, once you see him and you see them
move that that's the job as thecoaches to find out what unique things a
player has and then you try tofeature that thing to say, all right,
think of like, you know, for an example, like an NBA
person like this guy you know it'sa catch and shoot three point player,

(10:24):
Like, how do we feature thatperson being able to do that? Thing,
let's know different in football, tofind this guy can really play man
to man. This running back andreally, you know, almost double as
a wide receiver. He's got thatgood of hands, this quarterback, you
know whatever that looks like. Youfind the unique things that a player has
and then you try to feature themearly on. And our whole league is

(10:46):
filled with stories like why didn't youknow, how did that happen? Where
ecology was an undrafted player or whateverthat looks like. It's hey, man,
it happens all the time. Itwas just a system there in circumstances
and injury whatever. And so it'sour job to help find the vision of
what the player can become and thenwork our asses off and help them,
you know, come to life right. And I love the fact that you

(11:07):
guys picked up some veterans, likesome mentors on this on this team,
and one of those guys being aguy from Philadelphia. There's one guy who
I just love and was so excitedto see that you guys picked up zach
Ertz. And I think he's goingto be a great addition to the team.
He's obviously an older guy that isgoing to be able to mentor some
of these younger tight ends, Andhow do you feel about zach Man?

(11:30):
That's I'm excited about that one.Yeah, And like I can't wait for
you know, this city to meethim, because not only is he a
great player, this is a greatteammate. A great teammate. So if
you were here yesterday, you wouldhave saw him explaining a certain route to
some of the tight ends, thedetail that went into it, the body
position, like the smallest of details, and so that kind of wisdom man,

(11:52):
like you just when it comes fromplayer, from one of your guys,
from a pier, it just makesso much, you know, impact.
And so I'm kind of like whenwe were using the McCaffrey and mccorn,
Like if you're a tight end,you imagine like coming in here,
this this person set the record forthe most catches that's ever happened like in

(12:13):
NFL history in a single season,Like we've been playing football a long time,
Like that's a pretty good record.Clearly has unique stuff to him,
but uh, but I also Iwant to make sure like he ain't here
to coach it, like he isreally still a good player, and uh,
you know, like everything we're gonnafind out all the stuff he does
and find ways to feature him andattack and every way that we can.

(12:35):
Yeah, I think, just asan observation, you guys might want to
get Jayden like a couple more.I'm thinking maybe different colors, a couple
more Commander's hats, because I don'tthink he's taken that one off since Draft
night. Yeah it is, man, you get that one hat, you're
like, man, it's just onebroken and good. It feels right and
uh, you know, you keeprocking it. You know, goes like

(12:56):
go to the wheels going, Soit's good. But yeah, he'll have
once sim and his guys get here, they'll have more hats to know,
do that. It's one of thegood things being a pro ball player.
You get free gear, get freegatorade. It's the hell of a gig
if you can get it. Yeah, there you go, There you go.
So you got to promise this thatyou will do everything in your power.
I know the history, but yougot to promise this, You'll do
everything in your power to absolutely destroythe Dallas Cowboys. I will promise you

(13:22):
this. I will do everything inmy power for us to be the team
we can be. Man, Icannot wait for you everybody to see it
go, Like, we're going togo for it as hard as you've ever
seen anybody go for anything. Andthat's how you have to do it.
Like this league is super competitive, man Like our division is tough, and
like it's one of the cool partsabout the gig, you know, like

(13:43):
the NFC East is, you know, one of the giants in our league
and it should be. And thatto me is why you want a job
like this, to go on thebiggest stages and go kick ass at the
highest level. So you know,we got a bunch of games and we're
gonna go for it, man likeevery single time we go, we are
bringing it every time, so likewe're not putting them above another club.

(14:05):
Man, we are absolutely going totry to kick ass at the highest level,
man like, in the biggest way. I love it, man,
I swear to God, every timeI talk to you, I just want
to run through a wall. Youget me pretty excited for the season,
man, really looking forward to it, really looking forward to it. All
Right, Hey, let me sayit this time, Coach Quinn. Let's

(14:26):
get rocking. You already know, man, you better bring a deuce with
something strong, like you've done goodyou got clean, you got some job,
so I'm gonna leave it on hereafter you hang up. So something
to really get this day kicked offand Kickstarter, so bring it. You
got it all right, let's playhim out? What's do you have some
more joke you can play them outwith. There you go, that's coach

(14:46):
stan Quinn. Head coach, you'rewatching your commanders, coach. Thank you
