people don't realize dB is one ofthe hardest positions, not just in football
but in all sports. Realistically,you are trying to think for other other

you. Everyone's gonna have to answerthis question though. What is the hardest
part about the dB position itself?I say the hardest part of buy like
the dB position is just like youjust one on one most of the time,

can't make no mistake, there's noroom for errors. It's just really I
just feel like it's more like oneon one and you got to really use

I think the mindset you gotta havebecause most of the time, you know
you're just playing man, so right, you gotta have a mindset to dominate
that another dude in front of youalways, so I think that's the hardest
thing, being like mentally prepared.I had a good interview with Charco Bears
Jayalen Johnson recently, like, likeyou said, you could have a game
where you're locking dude up and itmight be fourth quarter, getting down to

the nitty gritty one one bite ona fadeball, a slant, whatever it
might be, and it's like you'rethe villain all of a sudden. It's
that pressure, and unless you're gettingPBUs or pick sixes, you really not
getting that much glory if you're sittingquietly. Realistically, people don't understand the
average like fantasy football guy, theguy who just turns it on and likes

big touchdowns. He doesn't realize thatdude's doing an insane job, and in
a lot of football positions don't getthe credibility to deserve. You know,
I've had old Lignman on here whereyou're like, do this, dude's at
eleven year NFL VET stud might bea Hall of Famer. Half the time
people don't even half the time don'teven know I would say ninety percent time.
People couldn't name one old lineman inthe NFL man, you know,

and DV is part of that deal, you know. And I think it's
a confidence factor too. What wouldyou say, because you know, as
a wide receiver be on the otherside of that spectrum, like, yeah,
you've got to be confident and trustyourself and know your plays and know
your job and your assignment how toreact to what you're gonna do. Maybe
you're giving me a certain leverage showingsome kind of look, but on your

guys end, you got to havethat confidence, just a different swagger of
like at the end of the day, there might be a time where I'm
put in a position where it's meon an absolute island out there, and
you got to have that confidence becauseif you don't, nobody's going to have

What have been some of the bulletpoints that have ultimately got you this point

you got to keep stacking up thosedays, brick by brick, gaining
those confidence points and overcomes. Butthere's levels to the And if you were
on the freshman team in high school, then you get moved up to JV.

That's a new level. You gottaprove it again. Whatever you did
at freshman, that's sick. Nowyou gotta do it again varsity. Your
first varsity game. I'm sure youguys remember your first varsity You're ready,
You're in there, but you gottaBut you gotta get that confidence because you
know you could do it. Butthere's a I don't care how confident you
are. You can know you coulddo it. There's a small percentage in
your brain though, that is thinkingto itself, like I know I could

like, you know, when youcome in as an eighteen year old,
nine year old whatever the hell oldyou are a freshman, there's some growing

wrong with that, but it's definitelyit's a little bit of a different change
of just, you know, groupof dudes you're used to being around.
There's sophomores in high school, theydon't got driver's license yet, barely got
armpit hair, and now all ofa sudden, you've got growing them in

sixty years, got car payments,real life, you know, real life,

that confidence for you? I justfeel like when I step on the field,

to live family ties. Like I'vebeen seeing this uh professional professional athletes play

whatever, do whatever you do yougotta do to no, just be great.
And every time I just step onthe field, it's just like either

was like COVID so I didn't reallyget a chance to do visits. But

helping me. Like they helped meset up my classes for high school so

a short period of time now,like having coached Teddy like new it matters

train three hundred and fifty days atleast a year for this thing, for

finished my athletic crew. You hitthis point where you have pretty much two

you finished playing when you're twenty oneyears old for a quarter of your life

So you try to figure out,how can I take that same energy,
that same attention to detail and gritand commitment to excellence that it took to

you what time you need to besomewhere. You hurt your ankle, all

love an opportunity to help make yourteam better. Can you get me anything?
Nine out of ten times you're gettinga job and because of your approach,
if they know you're a student athlete, they know you know how to
get somewhere on time. Otherwise youget ticked off in the first what three
days. So people are out theretrying to hire student athletes, but to
have that transition, I'm like,Okay, I'm not just out here.

Shout out to my boy Josh Woodsfor the Arizona Cardinals. He came up
with this. I'm not just outhere checking boxes. I might really doing
it because I've caught myself and I'msure you guys have caught yourself in your
athletic career where you're used to yourroutine. Yeah, you're used to like,
yeah, you know, I'll getup early. I get there ten
minutes O there every day. That'sjust that's what I do. I'm a

vet. Yes, I get inthe cold to for eight minutes after practice.
Yes, I watched twenty minutes worthof film and do this that I
catch ten ten jugs on each sideeach day. Well, okay, are
you getting better every day? You'regetting better, You're getting worse. Shout

You never stay the same every singleday, and so you have all
these like call them what you want, like cliche, cheesy sayings, built
you know, locker room talk,things that are painted on the walls and
in the halls and whatnot. Likeit really does hit home though, and
when you have to become an adultand realize you're you're trying to be the

best version yourself as an adult andyour competition. It doesn't matter what their
forty is or how many touchdowns theyscored. At this point, it's it's
still who's gonna be the who's gonnawho's gonna be the outfit here, who's
gonna kick? And if you lookat guys who maybe they're business owners that
didn't go on and have crazy NFLcareers, but they have those same principles

that were installed with them from theirexperience of playing college football or some sport
college. Because they all you guysare in the training room, you gotta
respect like I respect them. Thefreaking women's lacrosse team, women's equestrian team,
soccer team. They go through thegrind just like we do now.
Football it is different. I've talkedto baseball dudes and tennis dudes. It

is different, but you can't.Doesn't mean that it's their fault that it's
not at the same pace. Necessarily, they're playing more games like there's a
grind and there's a mental barrier thatyou have to overcome in order to gain
that confidence. Like we were talkingearlier, you really become a VET when
you say it's fall camp. Hey, we're doing the conditioning test right before.

I know what my splits are.I'm gonna give good effort, make
sure I make my times, andI'm gonna pick up the young bucks who
come in say hey, come seeit next to me, Bro. I'm
not gonna make fun of them oror push them aside. A real season
vet doesn't say and says, hey, check me out if you If he's
too big time, no problem,Bro, no problem at all. But

those just becoming a well rounded humanbeing is something coach Tedford so good at
doing. And I'm just going offfull of tangent just saying like, yo,
this really does translate. And I'vehave dudes, I have best friends
who scored lots of touchdowns at PresidentState when instead of taking that mindset and
applying it to the next phase oftheir life. They're chilling on their girlfriend's

couch. Bro, And that's whatyou want to do. Choices, everyone's
got them. But at the endof the day, choices, you got
a decision to make. And rightnow you're playing football. I tell my
brothers, play football, have fun. It does not last forever. I

through an APAs practice this year,like you miss it because once it's done,
it's done. It's over with,like it is, and like you
got to move on. And Imean I'm exaggerating, but like it's it's
you wish you knew you were inthe good times when the good times are
