Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's a Broncos country tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Bevinsman, Albright here with you, Zack Seyears back there behind
the glass. Five six sixty nine zero is the text line.
He doys want to get involved in the conversation. Man.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
The Lakers, Uh, you know, we were just cracking jokes
about them.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
They got out to a forty thirty two lead the
first quarter gets the Denver Nuggets. Not not exactly what
I think anybody was expecting there. Bronnie James off the
bench five points for the Lakers, Austin Reeves leading them
with twelve points in the first quarter to uh to
start that thing. It's uh not not the greatest start
there for the Lakers against the excuse you of the

(00:32):
Nuggets against they depleted Lakers team.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Oh that hell.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
We're going run out to the KMI couster of the
hotline though, and bring on Patrick Keyotico host the Altitude
Adjustment to believe in Broncos.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Patrick. How you doing?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
I'm doing good? Ben? How are you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Man? Oh, I'm doing pretty well.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Uh. Broncos Country little I don't know, melting down a
little bit this afternoon over the Cooper Cuff stuff.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
I think if I am correct.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
You received a text message relayed to you from a
friends of tipping you off that this wasn't happening last night.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yep, yep, yep. And you know what, it honestly like,
it was a pipe dream to begin with, right, like,
especially after you know, signing Evan Ingram and then all
the reports about you know, his his price tag being
so high. But I was still holding out hope, right
I was still like, maybe there's a chance. And then
when I got that text from that friend, everything kind

(01:28):
of came crashing down for about sixty seconds, and it
was like, Okay, life's normal, everything's fine, The world's not collapsing.
The Broncos are still potentially going to have a good
offense even without Cooper. Cup would have been a nice
cherry on top of the Sunday. But it's fine. He
can go to Seattle and catch balls from Sam Darnold

(01:49):
and and you know, get his local shine. That's perfectly fine.
But you know, the rest of Broncos country should relax.
It was it was a pipe dream to begin with.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Let's not panic.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Well, I told that mutual friend to make sure you
were sitting down before he passed it to you.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
But you know, just in case because I know you
actually you wanted Cooper Cup.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
You're correct, because like I did not even want him here,
so that I think that's that's the different, Like you
were one of the people that wanted him.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah, well so I kind of saw it as like,
you know, you're bringing in this guy, like all the
conversations have been, you know, Sean wants to get a
veteran wide receiver, and I think he got like his
he essentially got his vet wide receiver and Evan Ingram
right right. But my thought process was like, if you
want to run some of these two tight end sets,

(02:35):
but you want to have a little more athleticism out
on the field, and you still want to have that guy.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Like Cooper Cup.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
You can put him in at the Z, you can
move you know, you can move him around all over
the offense. You don't have to have him on the ball.
He's a guy who can still you know, he can
give you enough and the Broncos would have enough weapons
with Ingram, with Shutting, with Men's, with these other guys
that it's like, maybe there's some chances for one on

(03:01):
one balls with Cooper Cup. Maybe there's some chances for
him to get open underneath and get some of those
easy quick hitters. I think it would be a nice idea, again,
a little bit of a pipe dream, maybe a little
bit of a Madden scenario, But I didn't hate the idea.
He's a vet. He kind of would fill in that
Z role pretty well, I feel, and he's a guy

(03:25):
that you can move around at the line of scrimmage.
I think that it would have been a really fun
idea for Sean and he probably would have figured out
a way to use him.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Pocout, Patrick Keyotti from altitude adjustment players that we did get,
of course, on the defensive side of the ball, you
got a Fogo, we got Drake green Law. But I
think those guys add some edge to a defense that
needs and I think they take a good defense and.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Make it great.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And I got reminded by Matt Varrows earlier today that
the altercation involving the Philadelphia Eagles sideline security guy dom that.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Was Drake Randlaw.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
He Hey, you know what, like this defense needs some dogs, right,
Like that's the whole thing is they need some dogs.
We heard Nick Bonnido say that in an interview this
offseason that you know when he got to Denver, they
didn't have they didn't have enough dogs on the defense.
Now I feel like we're kind of getting back there.
Hufungus one of those guys who just loves to come

(04:21):
downhill and hit dudes. Kreen Law is another guy that's
gonna really really throw his weight around. I'm really excited
about what this defense could be, especially if they're healthy.
And that's the big thing. Right those two guys have
missed what seventeen eighteen games over the last two years.
That's a little bit of a concern, but apparently, you know,

(04:42):
the injuries are something that maybe we should put by
the wayside. Plus how well the Bronco's training staff has been.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I think that it's.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Awesome to see them be aggressive and go out and
get guys that they know can add that that little
bit of nasty that they need to get over the
I mean, dude, watch that playoff game again. The Buffalo
Bills out dogged us, right They they were outdogging us
on the on the you know, the offensive front, they
were outdogging us on the defensive front. Sean is saying, no,

(05:14):
we're gonna get nasty, We're gonna add some attitude to
this defense. I love it. I love both the signings.
I just you know, just keep them healthy, please please
keep them out.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
That is that is the task. I mean, both those
guys come in obviously with injuries. But who in the
NFL hasn't been hurt before? Now you're especial teams coordinator.
In high school, we lost a couple of special teams
players Tremont Smith, Riley Dixon. But we did add a
guy that I'm a big fan of and and yeah,
you know you watch him. You watch the tafe on
this guy, and he is not afraid to get in
there and mix it up.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
It doesn't matter who you are.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Yeah, No, Trent Sherfield man like two hundred and thirty
four snaps last year on special teams. You know, a
lot of kick return, a lot of punt return coverage.
There was a clip going around of him playing gunner
when he was with I think it was with the Cardinals.
Got pushed out of bounds. This guy comes back in
and textbook special teams tackle lined up. The guy bought

(06:10):
him down for a tackle. I loved his blocking reps
in line too. I know, I'm sure you've seen. I'm
one of those little Jordan Humphrey fans, But man, this
guy looks like he might take some of those reps
from Little Jordan Humphrey.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
This.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
I feel like this was a very strategic signing. And
I saw you say this too, but it's kind of
one of those two for one deals right where you
get a guy who can play special team. He can
play that special team's role, but in those limited snaps
like the ones that we saw Little Jordan Humphrey take
where he's doing the dirty work, Trent Sherfield's a guy
that can do that as well. I'm really excited about

(06:44):
this signing. I hope that you know he's not gonna
be a guy who's gonna get forty to fifty targets
a year. He's going to be a guy to go
in there and just lay someone out, and I can't
wait to see it. This dude is a great run blocker,
high energy, special teams guy. I'm really excited to see him.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Lou's Riley Dixon the punter as well.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Well.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I'm not as concerned as some people are about that
because I think here at altitude, unless you're just bad,
you can probably find a punter. The thing I am
concerned about though, is the hidden component of that that
nobody talks about messing up the field goal apparatus?

Speaker 1 (07:18):
He's the holder. Is that something that concerns you?

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Yeah, you know, like that relationship is always one that
is really important, you know, and I don't think a
lot of people understand how crucial that is. Like holding
I held in my playing days, and it is stressful.
It's not easy, right, So you gotta be you got
to have a really really good relationship with the kicker.

(07:45):
It's something that you just have to rep, rep rep
you know. They used to have the backup quarterbacks to it,
and we shifted to the punters because while they're spending
all their time together. So I think that's that's in
the hidden aspect that they're definitely gonna look for. I mean,
Dixon wasn't he wasn't all that bad as a punter.
He you know, he wasn't a world beater per se,
but he was pretty dang good. And it's gonna be

(08:07):
I think it's gonna be harder harder to find someone
who can really replicate what he was doing, especially last season.
I felt like last season was one of his better years.
But yeah, like the field goal unit is gonna have
to get on the same page. The punt team is
gonna get out, gonna have to get on the same page.
I know a lot of people were pining for Ryan

(08:28):
Stonehouse from CSU, but I put out a tweet saying,
you know this guy, he out kicks his coverage quite
a bit, and that's a that's not the best thing
that you want to do in the NFL. So I
hope they find someone. I don't know if they're gonna draft.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I don't know if we would spend the.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Draft pick on a punter. I wouldn't put it past
them those Sean has done it in the past a
couple of times. But I'm kind of heading for a
UDFA guy. You know, there's a couple of players out
there that people had brought up. There's the kid from
Florida that I know, Jacob Romano is brought up and
that would be a lot of fun. But yeah, man,
that holding aspect is going to be big. I'll have

(09:06):
to go watch some film on some guys holding field goalkicks.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, that's uh, it's you know, and obviously what a
treat whenever you get the opportunity to, uh to do
that so I yeah, right, you know, a free agent guy,
Matt Hack is somebody that's been suggested to me they
might be interested and we'll see if that that ultimately
comes to fruition, you know, as far as that goes,
not not trying to turn.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
This into punder a country tonight, as far as that
kind of stuff goes.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
But what what is your favorite overall signing that they've
made so far?

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Oh Man, Like Evan Ingram obviously is like that's the
flashy one, right is like, you know, I'm not going
to use the term, I'm not going to say it,
but you know, Sean kind of gets that guy that
he was looking for in the offense. He's getting a
guy that he can put in the slot, that he
can spread out wide, that that is athletic enough to
run underneath. But I'm honestly, I'm really excited about the

(09:58):
dra green Law signing because now we have a linebacker
who can cover running backs out of the backfield with
the best of them. That was one of my biggest
issues with the defense last year was like every week
I was like, win, Win's the running back wheel out
of the backfield going to come. I know it's going
to come at some point when is it going.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
To get here?

Speaker 4 (10:18):
And now we have a linebacker who can cover that.
So I think that's probably the one that I'm most excited.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
About anybody else in free agency, you'd you'd like to
see the Broncos get Listen.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
I'm pushing an agenda right now. I know that you
said that they're probably done with wide receivers right now,
but Brandon Cooks is one that makes a ton of
sense for me. If we're looking for a veteran receiver,
we're looking for someone who can play zee in this offense.
Brandon Cooks has done it before for Sean Payton. He
understands the offensive scheme. He's a vet guy. I know

(10:49):
he wants to play for a contender. And if this
team is contending and they're looking for a veteran wide
receiver who can fill that role and maybe even be
a mentor to someone like Troy Franklin who their skill
sets might be a little similar, looks would be a
fun ad. He won't be nearly as expensive as Cooper
Cup And like, honestly, it gives me Emmanuel Sanders and

(11:13):
New Orleans vibes right Like he was able to get
over seven hundred and fifty yards and five touchdowns out
of Emmanuel Sanders, you know, the year before he retired.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
So that would be.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
A fun one for me. Outside of that, like, there's
not really anybody else, Like the center market isn't that
great after Dolmon's gone. I'm kind of looking for the
draft in that the running back market. Nah, Like there's
maybe one or two guys out there that I would
kick the tires on, but I think for me personally,
Brandon Cooks is the guy that I'm looking at the most.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Well, it's good that you mentioned that name because I
think that they are going to flirt around a little
bit as far as we're seing where they were not
in on Cooper Cup at all, Like there was no offer,
there was no nothing then. But I will say that
a lower mid tier type of free agent, somebody who
knows the system, somebody who costs down there in that
five to six million dollars per range.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Might be somebody that they'd look at.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
And I you know, I don't know that they're necessarily
looking for somebody to be the Z because I think
they think Mims is going to be that guy. But
I think they I think they would flirt around with
that idea if you still.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Happen to be a little bit available Wave two, Wave three.
So that's one name that to keep your eye on.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
I'm not gonna throw a wet blanket, all bright water
on that right off the bat when I'm when I
think that that has a reasonable chance of being in
play based on uh, some conversations I've had, So you know,
go with that as we look around the division, Uh
did did the Broncos get better relative to the other
teams in this division? Where does this division stack up
as it currently stands heading into the season.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
Man, I feel like the Chargers had a pretty decent,
uh pretty decent free agency, you know, the Raiders trading
for Geno Smith, like yeah, and they've made some good
signings that chief lost some people. They also brought some
interesting pieces in. But I I really think that the
Broncos made a bigger step as far as like getting

(13:06):
better from last year. Now again, the asterisk is there, right,
like if they stay healthy, this like these editions could
be really really good. But if they don't, we're going
to be in a pickle. And you know, is the
depth going to be good enough to keep up? Like
this team was a playoff team last year, but we
lost some of those key guys, so I just don't know.

(13:27):
So the health has to be the biggest thing for them.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
To really make that jump.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
But overall, I think that the Broncos did take a
big enough leap to potentially be, you know, the AFC
West champion. I'm not going to crown him yet, but
if they can stay healthy, then I think there's a good.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Chance time with Patrick Keyoti from altitude adjustment, Yeah, that
would be I mean that would be a significant step.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
I think that has to be the goal for this season.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
If you're the Denver Broncos, it has to be win
the division, win a playoff game.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Those have to be the stated goals, Like you're not
sneaking up on anybody this year.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Nobody's got you at five and a half wins in
the books, nobody's underestimating bon Nicks.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
They're gonna be gunning for you this year.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
So I think that goal has to be, all right,
we set the standard higher, we're coming back for you.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Two. We're not setting the standard at we want to
meet what we did last year. You want to beat
what you did last year. If his team comes away
and doesn't.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
As Zach posed, an interesting question if if they don't
win the playoffs, they don't win the playoffs or or
they don't win the division, what does it take to
make this season a success?

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Yeah, I think if they don't make the playoffs, I think,
like it's still got to be you know, bone Knicks
taking that next step. If you know, how is he
performing under pressure, how is he performing against the better
teams in the league. I think for me, that would
probably be the measuring stick for success. If he takes
a big step back. I mean, we're going to have

(14:47):
a completely different conversation, but I definitely want to see
this defense, you know, still still remain one of the
top defenses in the league. But there's still so many
question marks along the offense, right like who's going to
be the starting unning back. We don't even know at
this point. Right now, it's like audreck Estime and Julium mclaffin, right,
So that's that's that would be something that would hinder

(15:07):
us from getting, you know, getting into the playoffs and
making a run. So I think if we're if they
don't make the playoffs, but like they still show a
good enough growth on offense and the defense is still
you know, a couple of pieces away. I think I
would still probably put that as a successful season.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Patrick Keyoti from Altitude Adjustment. Always enjoy having you on, Patrick.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Always brother, Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I appreciate you all.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Right, man, Take care, Patrick Keyoti, Altitude Adjustment, Broncos Country Tonight.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Benmin Olbright, Zach Seager's here with you. We've got we
got an NFL six.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Pack coming up for you here after the break, we'll
get to your text messages and anything else.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Is six sixth nine zero is the text line, and
we will be back after this.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Benjamin Olbright, Zach Seger's back there. I six six nine
zero is the text line. We did get a question
from the nine on nine who said, how close are
we extending.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Zach Allen feels like he's a must.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
If it's much harder to develop great interior pass rushers
like him, and what about Sutton and what about JFM,
he's being KG Well. JFM had a head a little
tweet out there.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
I think some people saw it.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
He he had already expected to be kind of topped off,
I guess on his deal, and there's a little bit
of frustration. With with John Franklin Myers. I do expect them
to work something out there sudden. I don't want to
get in to that today. That requires more than a
couple of minutes here before the six pack. Uh. As
far as Zach Allen goes, he is his his extension,

(16:39):
Aick Benino's extension.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Those are in the works, those are those are targeted.
They're in the works. They're getting all that stuff done.
They needed to.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Get through the gotta gets out of free agency before
they got to that, because to figure out how much
you can uh when you're doing the new money, what
you're putting into next year, what you roll it over all,
that kind of stuff. So they had to get some
better calculus in terms of that kind of stuff. I
would expect to see both those guys extended before the
start of the season, but I don't think that there's

(17:06):
anything that's happening like tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
If if that's what we're we're asking.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Are the sides Obviously they still some things to still
work out. But are they relatively close together.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Or oh, everybody knows what the numbers are like, those
are accurate, Yeah, those.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Those numbers are pretty accurate.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
The numbers I saw out there were a little high.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
They're player side numbers, but they're everybody's in the ballpark.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
There's not a there's not a situation where we've at
like with the Niners and Brock Party where you know,
Brock parties like yeah, I won fifty five million a
year and the Niners like yeah, we're offer thirty.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
You know, like that's not there's not a situation like that. Okay,
that's good at least is there?

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Sorry?

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Never mind? You sure? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (17:46):
I guess with Zach Allen ed trying to get that
or more so Nick Benito, I guess did Max Crosby
and Miles Garrett you think impact the player side numbers
any did those well?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
You took them up a little bit, specifically for Benito,
but I don't think it really affected too much overall.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
They kind of knew where the number was going to
be for.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Both those guys, and they're still pretty close to those numbers,
So should be fine.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Let's get to the NFL sixpect. It's time for the
NFL sick pad.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
I'm going to trade insight and inside information you can't
find anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
I know six the top six NFL headlines was starting
out here with the news of the day.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Cooper Cup finally made his free agent decision and he'll
be joining the Seattle Seahawks on a three year, forty
five million dollar deal. Talked a lot about the Cooper
Cup angle of it and the Denver Broncos angle of it.
But what do you make of the Seahawks making this
move in the middle of seemingly rebuilding, cutting Tyler Lockett,
trading away DK Metcalf.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Are they even rebuilding? Well, I don't know if rebuilds
the right word. They just blew up the entire offense,
you know. I mean they brought in Valde, Scantling and
Cup to pair with Smith and Jigba. They got rid
of as you mentioned, Locke at Metcalf, I got Regino, Smith,
got Sam Arnold. You know, he is the offense. The
offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is gone and now.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
It's it's klin Koobia. So it's gonna be a it's
a it's a different offense there.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Even I as far as what they're trying to do,
I think that defense is going to be dangerous, especially
with the addition of DeMarcus Larrence.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
But the offense is is kind of a question Mark.
I don't know that they got better.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
They got different, they got different, but I don't know
if it's better. You know, is Sam Darnold is what
he did last year replicable? Or was the end of
the year really? You know kind of the thing as
far as Cup goes, what does he even have left
in the tank?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Valdez Scaling I I thought that he had a couple
of nice games. He's a he's a bang nine, bang
eight guy. But you know, I mean, is he is
he a season long guy? Like? What are we doing
with this? Smith? And Jigba is really the best receiver
they have.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
He's kind of a whiner if he has guys, Let's say,
he whines out there on the field all the time.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I don't know. I don't know what this offense is
going to look like. I don't know how good it's
going to be.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
But they've certainly they've they've cleaned house and to try
something different here.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
Yeah, I think the common thread with those late Sam
Donald struggles where the offensive line kind of got bullied
by the Lions and then bullied again in the playoff
game against the Rams. That Seattle offensive line is right
there with the Texans for you know, worse than the league,
especially in terms of past protection. I worry that we're
going to get a lot more of the Jets version
of Sam Donald seeing some ghosts instead of the Viken's version.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Yeah, that's I think, and I think that's really the question.
You know, what, what version of Sam Donald are you getting?
How much of what you saw last year is replicable?
What is it that that you're getting there? Because the
line that he played behind in Minnesota was decent.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
In this line and especially.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Internally, I do expect him to go after some line
in the draft, you know, to their credit. But I
don't know this is not I don't know that this
is better. And that's probably the best way to put it.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Miles Garrett is reportedly trying to recruit Russell Wilson to.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
The Cleveland Browns. It seems a little funny to me
that he's doing.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
That right after pretty publicly trying to claw his way
out of Cleveland. What do you make of Miles Garrett's
recruitment pitch to Russell Wilson, Well.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
You know, they need to get better at quarterback and
better than what they have, and nobody throws a quarterback
like a football throws Kenny Pickett like a football If
you've ever watched that play, you know what I'm talking about.
I mean Russ, Russ has three options and all of
this hinges on there Rogers Domino, so you know that
that's kind of the thing. You know, they need to

(21:37):
get better and there aren't really other better options other
than Russ out there.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
I mean, what is he you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Trade for Kirk Cousins. There's there's just really not a
whole lot of options out there. When all said and done,
I think that would be interesting. Russ sort of knows
that offense. I don't think he's a very fit for it,
but you know, he sort of knows it. I think
Miles Garrett's just just playing good soldier right now because
he got what he actually wanted, which was more money.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
He put out this this flowery letter about winning Super
Bowl so all this other you know whatever, and they
came back with a Brinch truck and he was like, oh, yeah,
I'm good now.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Money, money tends to smooth it all over, especially with
these contract negotiations.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Can he Pickett?

Speaker 5 (22:16):
I feel might be in the running for someone who
dislikes Russell Wilson even more than Sean Payton was allegedly
reported to because my goodness, stole his starting job in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
But you mean his saw kn't he Pickett? They were like,
we would like Russell Wilson. Yeah, oh he isn't fair.
But Russe Wilson came it. He quickly demanded a trade
out of Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
Lean, who's gonna lose it winds up landing in Cleveland.
It looks like maybe he's gonna be their starter. Like
he said, they're kind of desperate for a solution, and
here comes Russell.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
I'm here for the symmetry, but I don't I don't
think Russ winds up in Cleveland. To be honest with you,
I think it's gonna be Pittsburgh, New York. Whichever one that,
whichever one that Aaron Rodgers doesn't take anxious.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
Sorry today, Daniel Jones, another one of those quarterbacks that
were on the move in this year's free agency period,
remarked to the Indianapolis Press that he's excited to compete
with Anthony Richardson for the Colts starting quarterback job. When
this when the desk dust settles, all of a sudden, done,

(23:17):
season's over, Who do you think will have started more
games for the Indianapolis Colts in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Jos, you said that fast by a wide margin. I'd
start every game. I don't think Anthony Richardson will beat
him in.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
A competition, if you okay, dang, that's interesting. I was
thinking it would be a majority Richardson. So if you
were having to set the line on that, if you
were a Vegas odds maker, where would you put the
line for Anthony or for a Daniel Jones starts?

Speaker 2 (23:44):
I would put the line at fifteen just because it's wow.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Because the starter is going to get most of those
starts and they know they need to win. Wow, they're
all gonna be gone.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
That is fascinating. I did not realize that Daniel Jones
was such a heavy favor there.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
That's exciting. I mean, that's me.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
I mean, but Anthony Richardson stinks like he's just not
I mean, there's tools, but he stinks.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
He's not good. He's the guy who pulled himself out
of a game because he was winded.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
And if it wasn't for Justin Fields, he'd be the
worst starting quarterback in the league.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
We'll get to that here very shortly. I'm excited for that.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Now four, this is a.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Good to it.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Oh, actually will be later on first I lost minds
and fields one. Anyways, well we'll circle back to it
for number six.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Buffalo Bill's defensive.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
Lineman, Michael hoy Actually Justin bomb sorry, Justin Fields is
better than this.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
I'm gonna requitment before wait the Bills thing, just to answer.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Your question there, before you even get into it. They
knew about Hoyt. They did not know about Ogunjobi.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Ooh, that's not great.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, how he told him ahead of time. They knew
that was all taking care of Ogunjobe. Didn't tell him
he was getting a bed suspension.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
That's messy.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
But going into Justin Fields here, Uh, he signed a
forty million dollar deal with the New York Jets over
two years thirty Mili guaranteed.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
I know, of course, we're on opposite ends of the
just the Fields things. So I had to ask you,
what do you make of this move? Are you surprised
by the money he got?

Speaker 5 (25:05):
And do you think Justin Fields could be the Jets
quarterback of the future.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Ben, He's the quarterback of the now until Tyrod Taylor
takes a job from him. Look, no, I'm not it's
not any money. He got twenty million dollars per year.
That's just nothing. There's no there's Is there another starter
in the league that's not on a rookie deal that
makes only twenty million dollars a year, because I don't
think there is. I'm pretty sure that's worst starting quarterback
money in the league, which would be reflective of his level.
He was offered twelve million by the Steelers, which tells you.

(25:32):
And they had him for a year, so that tells
you what they think of him.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Wait till Rest signs, so episod been. Wait till Rest signs,
it'll be more than twenty million.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Would you like to lose more money?

Speaker 1 (25:45):
He will outpace him.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
And I don't think that Russ's you know, Russ's is whatever,
But I mean it was, it was obvious last year.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Guys. This does not need to keep being a debate.
Like I get it.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
The Fields truthers are hanging on with fingernails for dear life,
hoping that round three is is the charm or whatever.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
But it doesn't need to be like this. He's on
his third team in three years. He got bench, he.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Got punted out of Chicago where he couldn't even you know,
he didn't play better than Andy Dalton in the snaps
that he had. He turns around and goes to Pittsburgh
where he gets benched and outplayed by Russell Wilson of
all people, and then they punt on him offer him
twelve million dollars a year as an insults, and then
they punt on him to take a shot at the
shell of Aaron Rodgers or or bring Russell Wilson back.

(26:26):
And they signed Mason Rudolph to the you know there
to be the backup quarterback. Justin Field stinks like whatever.
You know, there were some cool quotes that he had.
I thought there were some great quotes he had last year.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
I think he handled it like a pro.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
But the reason I'm so derisive about is because he
has this fervent fan base that absolutely refuses to concede
that he stinks that's.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
Gonna be a lot more annoying when he signs for
more or when Russ signs for even less money than it.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Okay, bye, is that Audio.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
Kirk Cousins just to celebrated Eric quotes one year anniversary
in Atlanta today? Where do you think Cousins is celebrating
next year Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
I originally didn't think that the Browns thing was gonna
be real, but I kind of think it is now.
Atlanta's trying to play hardball, but everybody knows it doesn't matter,
Like you're gonna have that dude beat be a backup for.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
One million dollars or whatever it is.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
And oh, by the way, if he's there long enough,
some of that money vests for injury turns into a
guarantee next year. So he we run into the Russell
Wilson kon under him with him anyway, So I think
I think he winds up in UH.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
I think he winds up in Cleveland and that ends
up being being the guy for the year.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
There is a an outside scenario here where the Niners
don't get it done with brock Purty and they trade
him like to the Titans, right, and then they they
bring in Kirk Cousins on the vet men, you know
type deal. There is there is this outside the box

(27:59):
sort of thing going around in the UH.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
We'll call the insider circles. But I mean, you know
what I mean, check there is just sea.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
I'm just saying there is a There is this theory
working its way around that Kyle Shanahan could wind up
with mac Jones and Kirk Cousins as his booze and
uh and punt on on Brock Party.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
That would be so funny if that was the quarterback room,
because I remember when Cousins was still a team.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
I've still been in with Qwaji Durder.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
You'd just gotten to Minnesota and people were thinking, hey,
then Kyle, the Niners had the void at quarterback at
the time, and they were there.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Was a lot of names and teaming up. And then
of course with the twenty twenty one draft, Wow, those
are the exact two names. And then they wound up
draft from Tree Lance.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Yeah, rock Party draft pick really bailed about on it.
They should probably be fair. Kirk Cousins bailed him out
on r G three. I can Washington also true. Maybe
they'll get lucky again.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Six NFL dot Com put out their list of the
best and riskiest free agent signings of the cycle, so
we are all focus on the positive. First, they listed
in order, the Chris Godwin resigning, the Laramie Tunsel trade
by the Commanders, the Ronnie Stanley resigning with the Baltimore Ravens,
the Drake Greenlaw signing by the Denver Broncos, and Khalil

(29:14):
mack re signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as the
five best moves of the offseason so far.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Green Law is the only true free agent signing on
that list.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
What do you make of that list and do you
feel like there are any big emissions?

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Well, I want to start with Khalil, if only because
he gives me the opportunity to talk about.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
The return of the mac.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
But as far as the rest of it goes, most
of those were pretty well known. That the trade was
what was I think the only surprise out of that
whole group. The Texans understand that they're going to have
to They've got a unique problem here because they feel
like they're in a competitive window.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
But they're going to have to pay CJ.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Stradd Will Anderson at the same time coming up because
they drafted them two and three.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
They have to pay them at the same time. And
by the way, they got to pay Stingley as well.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
The cornerback market just Keith Vaulton upward thanks to J
Horn and in those deals it came.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Through, So they recognize they got some problems. They gotta
get cheaper.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
That's part of the reason they traded to begin with,
was just get rid of him, get some draft picks,
and hopefully we can draw some cost effective replacements in here.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
I like the Trey green Law thing.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
I mean, obviously there's the injury concern as far as
that goes, but he does bring the Broncos at edge
and an ability I don't think they've had in years.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
So I liked virtually all those. I mean, I don't
think there's any one of those moves I disliked.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
Are the guarantees out on the green Law deal yet?

Speaker 2 (30:27):
The numbers aren't out on it that I've seen that?
And the Hufuga deal. I haven't seen either one.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
The number three yeah, twenty on the Hufanga deal, I can't.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
I couldn't log in and see if from the NFLPA
thing it's in there yet. But it's like I hadn't
seen him yet earlier today when I looked.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Interesting, maybe that not official yet? And then what do
you make.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
Even of the Texans' strategy here with this line? I mean,
like you said, they they've got some guys to pay,
but offensive line was such a problem for them last year,
and I know Kenyan Green was a problem area, but
Laramie Tunson was their best lineman. And it seems like
they're only getting worse right now.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Well, I would say that they are getting worse personnel wise,
but they could to get better schematically. Last year, Bobby
Slowing didn't change up anything about. What they did with
their protections was the same thing from the year before,
and teams figured it out because what they do is
they put the one tackle out on an island and
they slide the rest of the line right.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
And so what they would do is they would they
would sugar.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
You know, both the tackles, then drop one out and
the other guy would just whicheverone was going on island,
whichever direction they were going, they just dropped through through
the gap. And there's nothing you could do about it.
You know, you got two guys going through one spot,
like what are you gonna do? So you know that
they got figured out, and that's part of the reason
Bobby Slowic's not there anymore. He wanted to get paid,
so you know, I mean, end of the day, the
Texans just had an economic reality. They're like, hey, we're

(31:42):
gonna have we got three huge contracts coming up.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
We can't.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
We can't spiff this guy and then still make these
other things work. He's at a peak, We're at an
inflection point. He's at a peak value right now. We
can trade him, get three good draft picks and see
what happens.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
That makes sense to your schematic point.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
People might remember the Natt Ryan Colts that had such
a terrible offensive line, and then the very next year
they turned it around and the offensive line was a
lot better. Coincidentally, the same offensive line coach was there
for Matt Ryan and left the Colts the next year.
So I do think there's reason for optimism that they'll
at least be better coached. But yeah, I think there's
still a Jimmy's and Joe's problem even if they've solved

(32:21):
the x as.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
And I'm not disputing that.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
I'm just saying that there was a very very problematic
x's and o's problem with that offensive line last year.
And uh, he really is the reason that Slowek isn't
there because he didn't make any changes to that, you
know as well, and so that's you know, that's a
large part of that. And you know, Demiko ryans mighty
slow to go back, you know, like there were boys,
so he hit a fire if he had a fire's boy,
you know.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
Which I think says a lot about Demiko Ryans and
his huge president NFL head coach that he was willing
to make that tough call.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Yeah, he's like, look, I mean, you know what am
I gonna do here? So yeah, anyway, it's good week.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
See what happens uh over the weekend?

Speaker 1 (33:00):
A Broncos country that came up Cheles
