Montoya and Cheryl Piggeys who both won those. We had
(00:27):
to get Cheryl off the pickleball court here. She was
over on the pickleball court. We almost gave those those
seats away to somebody else for a second because she
did not get up here.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
But she managed to come running around.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
From the pickleball courts that got here at the Sporty

Romy How you doing, guys, I'm doing well, you know,
but not some fires.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
But we're good.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
We're good now, Yes, Firefighter romy Bean on the show. Now,
I know it's good to hear your voice. You know.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Obviously we had the snaffoo earlier, but you know how
it is. We we are ready to roll.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
We were talking a little bit earlier about uh, just
sports in Colorado over the over the weekend, and yeah,
I was a bit of a disappointment.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
We'll start with see you a little bit, you know, getting.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Sort of relaxed there by uh the Nebraska Cornhuskers, which
I know the rivalry runs deep, and that's got to
feel a little worse for Colorado fans.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
But is it is?
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Is Colorado souring on coach Prime because the media coverage
locally feels like it has taken a turn recently. I
don't know if that's just me observing it that way,
or if that's the way that it's that it's really gone.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
I think it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
I think there's obviously there was a lot that went
on in the off season that had a lot of
people kind of take it one side or another with
the media situation.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
But I think the steam's under such.
Speaker 6 (01:54):
A heavy microscope and they think what happened in the
Nebraska game is where some people started to feel like.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
A lot of the issues that were issued last year,
you went into.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
The border, you got all these new guys, but.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
They appear to be similar issues.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
And I think that is a thing where people now
I think the verdicts still out, have a lot of questions,
but they're wondering, right, you brought into all these new.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
Alignment a lot of new players, and yet.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
It seems like a lot of the same problems are presents.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
And that is something that I think is it is
concerning the charity concerning.
Speaker 6 (02:26):
You look at the offensive line for example, right, the
offensive line you brought up in a whole bunch of
new guys, but it's still got the same offensive line problems.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
And so I think it's all gone on with the
theogenis experiment. Right, he's trying to do it the way
nobody's done it.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
But something like an offensive line, it's you got to
slow cook them.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Right, and he's trying to microwave it.
Speaker 6 (02:47):
And I think people are maybe do have some doubts
can it work.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Roman when you look at the fact that you know,
see you for back to back weeks will be on
a role in Houston territory again. Last week they were
in Nebraska. This week they're playing against RIVALU CSU. What
are you expecting in this rivalry game because last year,
remember there was a lot of talking back and forth
and there was an issue with coach Prime and his
(03:13):
eyewear and his interviews. Do you think some of that
be from last year has smoldering enough to trickle into
this Saturday's game.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
I mean, I think that there is always heat, there
is always tension.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
With this rivalry.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Gene Orvel talked today and he certainly tried to play
it down. He didn't really talk about anything from last year.
But when you look at the heat of the rivalry
in general, it's always been hot. It's always been heated.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
It's one of those things that, honestly, it feels like
it's always meant a little.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
More to the Rams than it has to see you,
you know, kind of historically.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
If you look at it. But I think it's kind
of a different layer going into this year. First of all,
the first time.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
In Fort Collins in nineteen ninety six, which is so
it's going to be wild, but there's a lot of
anger because there's for stuff that happened last year. I
think on both sides and along with many people, I
will tell you that based on my social media comments,
nobody wants you on Tenders to fail.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
More than Rams fans. So there is added to.
Speaker 8 (04:13):
The rivalry this year, whether they admitted or not, it
is more intense and so it's going to be he
that's going to be crazy, and it's I mean, that's
how rivalry should be though, right they should.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Bring a lot of I don't want to say animosity
all that stuff, but I do think there's.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
A little bit added in with the state of the
program talk.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
With Roby being from CBS.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Roby how big a letdown was the Bonnicks premiere because
there was a lot of hype that was surrounding that,
and I, you know, I felt bad for because the
hype had reached a crescendo based on some preseason games
which they'd scheme things up with the starters against backups
from other other teams and all.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
That kind of stuff. I felt bad because.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
I didn't think that Bowl was going to get a
fair shake based on the amount out of hype that
has come into this thing. Now we've seen the first
game out there was it as bad or as big
a disappointment as people making it out to be. Or
is this just a byproduct of the preseason hype.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
You know, it's so funny. I'm not disappointed.
Speaker 7 (05:13):
But what I think it is is you hit the
nail on the head. The expectations were way too high,
like all of a sudden, he's gonna run out and
he's going to be incredible from the jump, And it
didn't matter that he played against twos and.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
Threes and first whatever reason.
Speaker 8 (05:27):
The hype got.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
You know, maybe I think it's just the hope of
everything that transpire in the last eight years for Broncos fans.
They got so excited. I think that this fan is
the chosen one that then they're for him to come
out what I expected to be a rookie performance, among
other things, in Seattle, of all places, which is hard
for any quarterback to play, let alone a rookie.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
And you even Baul went into a thing.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
I played in.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Loud places, not like that, Right, There was so many
things that kind of going against him. And you look
at the other rookie quarterback numbers, right, it's not like
anybody else.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
I don't even know how the bear got to win.
I mean, let's be honest, so one that one of
the three rookies walks away with the win.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
None of them have great numbers.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Obviously you can go you know IXes and know it's
lots to fix. But for me, it wasn't a disappointment.
I think the fact that he stayed.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
Poised, that he led that drive towards to the.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
End, that the Broncos actually had.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
A chance to possibly go for the win late in
the game after all that he.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
Had been through.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Didn't look rattled. You know, you talked to him post game.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I think he's got the mental.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
Fortitude to deal with the adversity of a rookie season.
And I think people just need to practice patience, which
I know that's fellow fans do. But but you got
so for me, I wasn't diappointed.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Well, I mean you mentioned something about you know, Bo
Nickson probably the hyde catching up. But last season when
Russell Wilson came here, that was kind of the same thing,
and the Broncos seemed to be victimized by that. But
Russell was expected to play here in Denver. This hopefully
that he does, and it's not a cat injury, but
fast forwarded to that game just a little. Do you
(07:02):
think that the crowd or better yet, his former teammates
are going to be impacted by the fact of him
coming back, but now in a different uniform, You know.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
I don't think so as much.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I mean, I think it's one of those things that
the players, Yeah, Lebroncs want to get the better end
of it. The players, especially those are the ones that
played with and they want to be the ones that
come out and win.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I think that's natural.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
I think that's normal.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
I don't think there's like vitriol or hate for him.
Do I think the fans are going to boot?
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Yeah, because that's what fans do, you know. And I
think that that you know, there's anger fans are you know,
angry at rust? But I think it's sure. I think
I think the defense will be excited.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Right, you get to go against the guy that you
practice against and know a lot.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Of his tendencies.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
I feel like it'll mean a lot to the defense.
And I also think don't want to win for bo.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Right now that he's this quarterback and Russ was the
quarterback of old and these are all the things that
I think.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Are going to happen.
Speaker 7 (07:56):
But what I will say is I do not think
the booze will be as loud as they were in Seattle.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Two years ago.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
I've never heard somebody get food so loud in my
entire life.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
That was that was I'll talk with somebody up in
Seattle this week and they said, that's sort of the
animosity for Russell Wilson that Seattle had, and that return
game has sort of faded as they've watched him not succeed.
You know, if the only thing if you went out
there and blew the doors off and then you're mad
he left you and you know.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Jilted you and improved, but when you go you go
out there, you don't play all that well.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
For a couple of seasons, there's kind of a soft spot.
Now he's one of us, you know, he's got that
kind of thing.
Speaker 8 (08:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Do you feel like Broncos fans will will have that
animosity if for us, you know, comes out there, if
he if he plays well, or do you feel like
that Bronco fans largely don't care. They're invested the bon
Nicks thing and they don't really care anymore.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
I think the fact that you've got bo Nicks, and
there's this hype despite week one that that poppens the blow,
and I think.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
They're all in on bo Nicks and so that makes
a difference, right if.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
You're rolling out city, maybe we've got a different situation here.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
So I do think that helps.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
But I do think you know, fans of fans, I
think you will get foods.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
I don't think he's gonna get food all game, you know,
and it's going to be like it was in Seattle,
because at the end of the day, I think a
lot of Broncos fans don't feel like Brussell Wilson is
going to have a resurrection in Pittsburgh either. The fact
that he had to really battle with justin Fields for
the whole offseason to win it. It's like I think,
I think Barbson's are okay with it because they were
(09:24):
ready to move on.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Well, let's kind of move to a more positive known
what I mean by that. Even though the Broncos didn't
not win yesterday, there was some negativity coming into the
season as far as what would the defense look like
for a second year in a row. On dd'z a
coordinat advanced Joseph Me myself I was impressed with the
defense overall, after watching the game, probably multiple times. Like
(09:50):
Ben and I, what's their impression on how the defense
played in Week one?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Yeah, I mean I loved how they played, and when
I went back in Washington today, especially in.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
The first half, obviously kind of a little bit of
tail to have there. And I know they said, no,
it doesn't matter how long we were out.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
There for, and they were out there for a long time.
Speaker 6 (10:08):
But what I liked was that there were areas we
talked about how to improve, and they have the pass rush.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Looks a lot better.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
That front looks a lot meaner.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Obviously, Seattle really.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
Gash them on the ground in the second half, so
it's something that.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
You that you got to go from and you got
to learn from and get better, and we'll see how
they progress.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
But to come out that way, especially for a unit
that was pretty determined to come out and not have
a slow go, I like, I loved how they started.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
I liked what we saw from.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
Riley Moss across the utan.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
You know, obviously he's going to have a tough test
and some of the other young guys. So I was
impressed with how they played the front for.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Me looks a lot better.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Is their room to grow? Yeah, but I think that
first half especially was fantastic. And special teams, I mean
two years ago, this is the worst special teams.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Unit in the league.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
So to do everything that they been doing, special teams
continues to get better.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
I think that's just been huge as well.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Talking with CBS is romy being robby shifting gears a
little bit here. The Broncos got Jamal Murray extended what
do we think of the Nuggets and where they're at
right now? Do we feel optimistic about them going forward?
Is the window for Nicola jokicch remains open?
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I mean I feel like right now that the window
is open. And with all these things like Jamal's contract,
I assume you know, Nicole is like, these are the
guys I want around me, so pay them the money
so that they have one of the most unstoppable two
man games. So it makes sense to lock down Jamal Murray.
I know some fans had mixed emotions on that, but
the biggest question mark for the Nuggets has been and
(11:41):
will continue to be the bench.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
And so now you got Russell Westbrook and what does
that do?
Speaker 6 (11:45):
I think it definitely gives them a huge playmaker on
off the bench, which they need oh tremendously, and I
think it's just going to be I think.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Christian Brown's ready to step up in that role and
step in for KCP. But that's I guess a little
bit of a question as well.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
But the window is very much so wide open, and
you know, I think that they have all the pieces.
You just got to arrest them.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
You hope that having Westbrook and there means you're not
playing your starters as much, because I really.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
Think that's the most significant thing for.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
The Nuggets, the seedson.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
You just cannot wear down your starters, because we saw
what happened when you do well.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Rommy. That's really interesting because it's it's always with the
championship team. Is the window open or is it closing?
And in this case for the different Nuggets, but you
mentioned a very important part right for that window to
remain open, then that means that you under need quality minutes,
quality production from your bench. And the Nuggets didn't really
(12:42):
do that much to help their bench. Do you think
that they there's somehow there's master plan that coach Malon
could come up with some things scheme wise to get
that bench to play better this year collectively than they
played last year.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Well, I mean simply, but they have to, Nick.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
I mean, this team is very fair. Their culture has.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Always been drafted and development, and they believe in their.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
Young guys and they believe in Peyton.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
Watson and a lot of these young guys to step up.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
But it, you know, it goes back to what you're saying,
you cannot waste the Colaoka just windows. So if you're
gonna believe in the young guys that they got to
step up and they got to step up quick, there's
no way to there's no waiting on them, you know.
And if not, then you got to go out and
get playmakers. And so I think that they feel like
bringing in Westbrook will really help them the way Westbrook
can you know, control the game.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
And I think said he's.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Also a big guy on defense. I think they're gonna.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
Payton Watson take a big step up on defense as well.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Now you've got a lot more power offensively and defensively
on the bench, But they simply have to get that production.
Christian Brown has to step up, you know, ready or not.
Like I said, I think he's.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Ready, but he has to be, there's no choice because
you can't waste the window of an all time player.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
So Ronnie, last question for me.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I think we all had this game circle to Sunday
and you know Russ's return and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Sou Asie stied with the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
Do we care anymore?
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Do we care if Russell Wilson even plays in this
or if it's justin field.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
I mean, I feel like you hope Russell Wilson plays.
I know the NFL helps Russell Wilson plays, right, It
certainly brings more hype, But big picture.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
Do you really care?
Speaker 8 (14:16):
Now?
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Like, does it matter?
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Maybe it matters to Brono fans a little bit to
beat Russell Wilson, But I don't know if it matters
all that much.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
You're paying them thirty eight million to.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Sit on the bench or to play in the game.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
It doesn't matter. I think the fact that you have
bone Nicks and you have a direction and people are
really invested in where this young team is going to go.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
But I think it doesn't totally matter. But at the
same time, I think it'd be more fun.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah, Rustlay certainly more fun. Storyline. Well, well, Mey, we
always appreciate you joining us.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
We'll catch you tonight on CBS and look forward to
the next chance we get to talk to you.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
I'm so sorry about earlier.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Yeah, you need to come out of this forty pick
up telling you you can play pickupball out of here,
but we'll be being c Yes, we always love having
her on the show. Nick I asked the question to
you that I asked a romy Do we care if
Russell Wilson is the start for Pittsburgh in this game?
Speaker 4 (15:10):
No, it really doesn't impact anything with the Broncos moving forward.
If Russell's tenure with the Broncos was something that we
could write home about, maybe so, but it'd be because
it was and something that hit hard as far as
where he took the Broncos and how the departure and
(15:30):
the separation or the divorce if you want to look
at it between the teams kind of inn generally not
so much now to some fans. I mean, fandom is fandom,
and if you get a chance to kind of boo
against someone who normally played, who used to play in
the uniform, yeah you gotta do it. For some fans,
they may rulish in that idea. But for me, it
(15:51):
really doesn't kind of make a difference because where's Russell
right now in his career. I mean, he hasn't really
played that much in the preseason. He didn't start against
the Falcons. Now, let's just say if he was that
starting quarterback not Justin's fields, that went into Mercedes Band
Stadium and beat Kirk Cousins in the Falcons, maybe it's different.
(16:12):
But because he did, they didn't do it, not too
many people don't really care about it.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, I think I'm I'm in the same boat. We
had to hit a break. We come back.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
It's the NFL six pack helous Nebroncos Country tonight right
here on Ka.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
You live at the Sporty Pickle Bar and Grill. Guys,
it's been a fun night out here.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
They got the pickleball courts, they got the games going,
they got the food.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
The cheesecake's delicious. Nick, you, I believe you had a salad?
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Is that what that's called?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
It look leafy and green whatever.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Why are you trying to out me like that.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
I'm just not sure what those things are called. It
looked some type of some type of yard. The assembled
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yes, it was green, it was grassy. H it did
have some proteins.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Did you get enough fiber?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
I don't know. We don't want to have the fiber.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
I did the waitress say, I was like.
Speaker 9 (17:03):
You picked something mouse. She brought me some cheesecake stuff.
It was delicious, so U yeah, get on that into
this forty pickle. It's it is an absolute hoot down here,
and I appreciate everybody who came out here, was out
here for a while.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
He's still here over there. We had a lot of
good people coming out here, so a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Let's get to it.
Speaker 10 (17:17):
NFL six pack, It's time for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
I'm gonna trade a lot of deer d insight and
insight information you can't find anywhere else, I know.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Six the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 10 (17:30):
What well if you'll never guess who's back in the
news today, a new lawsuit was filed against Browns quarterback
to Sean Watson for Browns fans who have concluded that
Watson isn't the answer. The question becomes whether the new
allegations could allow the Browns to escape the balance of
a five year fully guaranteed deal, and the.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Short answers maybe Uh. The longer answer comes from his contract.
We have a taint of copy of the key provisions
in paragraph forty two, full language basically says that the
player UH referred to to Shaun Watson, has not been
charged with, indicted four convicted of, or pled nolo contendre
to any felony and or misdemeanor involving fraudum more leptitude,
(18:08):
has not engaged in any conduct which is subjec get
to go a charge, and no circumstances exist that would
prevent him from continuing the availability to the club for the.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Ration of his contract Watson.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
If Watson disclosed this specific potential claim to the Browns
in writing before he signed the contract, that's the key question,
because if he did, the lawsuit can't activate paragraph forty two.
If he did not, then things start to get complicated.
Based on default language connected to the various guarantees hees,
Watson doesn't necessarily even have to be suspended for the
payments to be voided. Instead, if he quote violates any
(18:38):
material term of the contract.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Included the non limited to paragraph forty.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Two, Watson has defaulted, and future guarantees can be avoided.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Could he be suspended on the personal conduct policy?
Speaker 1 (18:48):
The first question of MAT's where the league even knew
about these allegations. As previously mentioned, the NFL has declined
comment regarding the new lawsuit against Watson. As a practical matter,
this is about twenty twenty five to twenty six. He
still did receive ninety two million fully guaranteed after this
current season.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
If he would be suspended before the twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Season against, the Browns could declare default point the contract
and move on from Watson. It is the older way
they could get out from under that contract. So to summarize,
did Deshaun Watson disclose this to the Browns before the
person who filed this suit? And in filing this suit
this occurred allegedly in twenty twenty You guys can read
up on the details. I don't want to get into
the allegations and all that kind of stuff. You guys
can read up on that. But if he does, this
(19:28):
could potentially void the last two years of the deal
and put the Browns out from under the hook as
Watson has not played up to the level of the
contract that he signed.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Well, that's a very interesting case. That you present, because
it's like, well did the Cleveland Browns No, And how
do you, if you are Sean Watson, bring this up? Yes,
there were twenty something women. Oh, by the way, there
was an additional four.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Well here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
So when he signed that, I know what went doubt Well,
he signed that contract. They sat him down on room
and they said, okay, you have to disclose everything.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
That has put They could potentially come up in a lawsuit,
whether he did it or not. I come up, it
could be potentially in.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
A lawsuit, whether it's consensual or not. And even if
that lawsuit has him be a file. So are there
other cases outstanding? If DeShawn Watson had to list those
other cases that could potentially come up or not.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
And I don't know if this was in that or not.
That's the part I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I do know that he sat down with them and
went over things that were not in the lawsuits were
already filed and disclosed those. If he did not disclose
this specific one, they can get out from under that contract.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
This is interesting because obviously Deshaun Watson was in charged
criminally and he didn't do any time from that standpoint,
but he did miss a year of football, which makes
this situation that much more interesting. But it's going to
be something to pay attention to because if it does
come to pass that this is someone that he did
(20:55):
not include, this could actually void some money in his
contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Yeah, the rest of the contract they get off under that.
And I'll be honest with you, Cleveland's considering making the
switch to Jaenis Winston based on play already the lease
show Deshaun Watson is is pretty short at this point.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
I want one more thing to add. You don't think
that Cleveland would ever out' you know?
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Could they of the highest paid back up in the
history of ever?
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Jeez.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
I talked to it doing my podcast with Bruce Harrit's
kid Jake Arians today and we were talking about that.
He's like, I don't see any way they could do it,
which means.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
That they'll probably wind up doing it because the Browns.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Next story two ride receiver Roma Dunes fade his NFL
debut on Sunday, but appears it's gonna be some more
time before he gets a second appearance the Duons. They
went in for an MRI on Monday after hurting his
knee and the Bears comeback winn with the Titans, where
the multiple courts the Unday has been diagnosed with an
mc L sprain is considered week to week from time being,
the dudes will not play in Houston on Sunday night,
(21:52):
and we two the week three trip to Indianapolis may
be at risk and dues.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
They had one catch for eleven.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Yards playing forty three offensive snaps against And we've kind
of seen MCLs be sort of an issue this year
so far looking around the league.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Yeah, usually people blame the fact of not playing enough
preseason games, or they blame it on the strength of
conditioning staff, but sometimes things happen. I mean, this is
the context sport. You hate to hear this for Romadonze,
but he was a great part about it. If you're
Chicago Bears fan, you're not hearing something where he is
out and definitely, but this is mcl sprain. I've had
(22:27):
it before. It is very painful. It affects your lateral movement.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
For a guy of his.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Athletic ability, he definitely needs to sit down and let
it hill and then get back out there with his teammates.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Mean, it's interesting how many MCLs we've had around the league.
But the Bearers, who struggled on offense, they won that
game on defense, the special teams against the Tennessee Titans
and getting that pick six, which might have been the
funniest surrender cobra of all time as you see what
letters down on his edge of his hands back over
his head making a horrible decision.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
No miss him on offense. Keenan Allen did play.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
After level they thought, I thought we'd get more out
of dj Mold.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
We really didn't.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
So it'll be interesting to see how the Bears adjust
to that.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Next story.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Three had wide receiver Brandon and a Yuk and left
tackle Trent Williams against Jets tonight, but they did not
have Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey soon on Friday they had no
doubt he would play, and there were plenty of optimism
from head coach Kyle Shanahan general manager John Lynch as well,
but McCaffrey was still listed as questionable and he is
on the was on the team's in active list today.
McCaffrey missed most of the summer with the caffe Injuries.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Listed with an achilles issue as well.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Jordan Mason took over in his stead. The McCaffrey thing
golt kind of funny to me because it felt like
they were sitting there saying that this was gonna happen,
and then it didn't. And now we're hearing reports that
it might not even happen for next week either against Minnesota.
The Niners are at this point as we're talking right now,
rolling past the Jets was a twenty nine. It looks
(23:53):
like it was twenty nine to sixteen something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
They haven't missed McCaffrey tonight. But that is a peace
of what they do well.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
It is a huge part of what they do and
initially it was just kind of a lower leg soft
tissue injury that quickly escalated to something more severe when
you talk about the Achilles, and I think the forty
nine ers are doing the right thing because when you
look at the level of production offensively, you can talk
about brock Perdy all you want to, George Kittle, Deevo Samuels,
(24:22):
even Brendan on you the oil that greases the engine
on the legs of one Christian McCaffrey. So it's kind
of super Bowl of Bus for Kalishnihan and the forty
nine ers right now and the god the goose that there,
the golden egg. You don't want anything to happen to
it right away. So they're doing the right thing, being
precautious and holding out Christian McCaffrey. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
I mean for me, I was grumbling about this because
he was on my fantasy team and I that's why. Yeah,
now we know how does it affects me? And that's
really all that matters. But I know, I mean, this,
this looks like it could be something that that lingers,
you know, potentially, So we'll see how the rest of
that shakes out.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
In that story.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Four Dolphins did not practice today, but they were required
to provide an estimation of practice participation with a Thursday
night game this week.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Running back to Avite eight.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Chain ankle and Raheem monstered his chest were estimated as
non participants, as was wide receiver Elak Washington. Either a
change nor mostt left the game with their injuries, Although
the Dolphins did give Jeff Wilson Junior five rushing attempts
in the fourth quarter, with Ahane getting four, Monster getting two.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Achan played thirty seven total.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Snaps muster thirty one in the victory over the Jaguars,
And couldn't this be a situation where the Dolphins are
without two of their top running backs going into Thursday.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
There is a good possibility of that. But with the
being this short week and knowing as though you just
had a game playing in place against Jacksonville at cold,
I like to think that as crafty and smart as
coach Mike mcdangelz, he's gonna come up with some kind
of plan to get other players involved. Look, I mean
with Chris McCaffrey, we've seen start with Zu Deebo Samuel
(26:01):
kind of line up in the backfield. So Mike mcday
is working around and being around, and he's a smart job.
I'm sure he's definitely gonna have a plan.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Yeah, you know, I've got h on my fantasy team again,
so you can see why we.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Did this story as well.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
We're going to run down my fantasy roster and discuss
that next story. Five Rams Lions Dude drew twenty two
point seven million viewers.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
On Sunday Night.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Football opening Sunday Night of the twenty twenty four NFL
season is a pretty big TV audience NBC Sports announced
that the viewers on NBC and Peacock at twenty two
point seven.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
That is a three percent increase from last season's first.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Sunday football game, a matchup of the Cowboys and Giants
that drew twenty two million viewers. Thursday night season opener
between the Chiefs and Ravens also saw a viewer inns
viewership increase over the last seasons over the NFL all
to a very strong start on TV ratings. Front viewership
totals from Sunday afternoons games on CB Amerson.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Fox have not yet been released. NFL ratings sometimes declined.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Election years when viewers shift from watching sports to the news,
but early returns this year suggest that football ratings are not.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Taking a hit two months before the election.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
What do you think about NFL viewership being continuing to
hit old time highs.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Well, the game continues to grow every single year when
players moving around. Yeah, the numbers are just going to
keep jumping off the chart because think about the league
is great when it comes to building certain matchups because
we know there are no heroes without villains, and that's
how the league has been able to continue to grow
(27:31):
the game and that's where basketball used to be at
one point. So the game has grown. And then here's
the biggest thing. You were talking about a couple of
topics here on the six pack about your fantasy football team.
That's how the league has found ways to grow the
game because they make every fan a fan. Like even Ben,
even though I know you hate the Raiders, you may
(27:51):
be a Raiders fan. I probably was because when Josh
Jacobs on the roster, only because of fantasy. But this
is how the league has brilliantly expended the game.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yeah, and I don't hate anybody. I don't hate any
team Raiders.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I don't hate the Raiders. You don't hate them for
that said, I'm Ambivolotos. That's not important enough for me
to hate him.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Okay, Bro, that's the only reason why you don't have
any current players on your fans and team, So you
don't really don't care right now?
Speaker 1 (28:13):
No, Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I get some Raiders on the fan.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
I just don't.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
I mean, they're just not They're not good enough for
me to hate them.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
I don't hate the New York Giants right now, Like,
why why would you hate the New York Giants?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
They're not good enough.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
No, very true.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
I'm just saying. Next story six Tyreek Hills.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Attorney Julius Collins released a statement on behalf of the
Dolphins receiver today. Colin said Hills is considering all options,
including litigation. Police handcuffed Hill placed him on the ground
near hard Rock Stadium as he was arriving for the
season open against the Jags on Sunday. He'll receive citations
for carols driving a seat belt violation during the traffic stop.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Mister hills legal team is exploring all legal remedies that
may be available to mister Hill, as we believe the
officers' actions on September eighth were excessive, Colin said in
his statement. As mister Hill is appreciative of his status
as a celebrity, it is not lost upon him.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
How so many others.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Similar situations have been a different fate, and how unfortunate
all parties involved were able to walk.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Away from this matter.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
To be clear, the traffic stop of mister Hill by
officers of the Miami day Police Department originated as a
traffic infraction, but it's then escalated after mister Hill provided
officers his driver's license and rolled his window back up.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
One of the.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Officers then knocked on his driver's side window and advised
him to keep his window rolled down, otherwise he was
going to get him out of the car. Mister Hill
had his window rolled down, and that officer demanded mister
Hill out of the vehicle, even after he complied with
that officer's request to keep the window down. Immediately after,
another officer that aggressively approached his vehicle, stating something to
the effect that if we have to break that bleeping window,
we will.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Mister Hill rolled down.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
His window each time he was requested to do so
by the requesting officers. He understands the inherently dangerous job
law enforcement is tasked with and understands that officers safety
is important.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
However, no point did he pose a threat to these officers.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
We believe that this matter was escalated due to over
zealous officers attempting to impose their authority on mister Hill
because they were not pleased with how fast he compla
of their request, and that mister Hill did not roll
down his window far enough to their liking.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
This gerald the.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Entire Hill family are thankful for the many prayers, blessings
and concerns that you got shared with them. Do we
think that Tyreek Hill, and we've seen the video. We
talked about this a little bit. Does Tyreek Hill have
a case here to go suing the City of Miami
or is this one of those best situations as best
left unlitigated.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Bro I think he has a good case. I'm out
a lawyer. But at the point when the guys pulled
him out of the car and drew him alone the
asphalt and was kind of overly aggressive in my opinion
with the way they handled the situation. Yeah, I do
think that he has a claim. Now in the video,
I mean you could say, well, he rolled this window
(30:42):
back up, he didn't comply with the officers at that time.
He wasn't anything that Tyreek Hill was presenting. In my opinion,
that seemed to be that he wasn't really listening. Well,
he's just being overly aggressive. So for me, his attorney's
probably approached from that standpoint and maybe he can call
enough buzz with the City of Miami to make them
(31:03):
change a little of their rules. And it was the
saying that the lawsuit is pushed through where there's some
financial conversation for Tyreek kild and his family just may
be enough to draw more attentions to situations like this.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah, I think it would be in Tyreek's best interest
in terms of a public relations sort of rehabbing type thing,
for him to be the guy that donates any any
proceeds of that to you know, be the guy who
who comes across and donates someone enough aware sets up
a fund for how to help people have been even
either illegally pulled over, or educate officers on how to
(31:36):
do this.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
I got a better way to do it, and we
can donate it. There is some financial conversation. Donate some
of the money to families of officers killed in the line, you.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Know, something like that that it turns the Dr Batau.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Tyreek has been a guy.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Who's been troubled by some some of his previous actions
in life, and it might be nice to to put
a footfold or something like that.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I think, uh, if I were.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Him, that's your NFL six pack. I did want to
briefly talk about. I don't know if you saw it today.
Canary As Tony is signing with the Cleveland Browns on
their practice squad.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Don't they have enough trouble already, you know, I mean
ideas with you, you don't, you don't add more to
the mix.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
He's always been a talented guy, but he's just not
ever been able to put it all together.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Been a bit of the head case.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Drops, some miscues in Kansas City. Obviously his uh you know,
his time in New York, where he was drafted was
was cut short as well. This is now a third
chance for Canaria as Tony.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
You're we expecting anything out of him in Cleveland?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Not not that much. I mean Cleveland has a very
talented roster receivers in their own right, Jerry Judy Carter
touchdown in this past week, You'll see that. But I
mean every team is trying to collect talent. Does it
change anything for the Cleveland Browns and their playoffs and
Super Bowl ambitious? No, they don't.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Yeah, I don't know how he makes that roster, I mean,
without injury or whatever.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
I don't know how he makes that roster.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
It just feels like an acquisition to have an acquisition
at this point, And you know, I don't I don't.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Blame anybody for rolling the dice and taking a chance.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
There, especially in a practice squad edition. I don't I
don't feel like that's really I don't feel like that's
a really big risk for the Cleveland Brown Soaly not
signing him to any sort of record breaking deal or
anything like that. But it also feels like, Hey, you're
taking on a project who's been a.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Bit of trouble for a roster that's dealing with some turmoil,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
I mean, Look, that's the great thing about way the
rosters are formulated now, with the practice squad having sixteen people.
It's something that you could do. If it works out, great,
If it doesn't, what do
Speaker 1 (33:40):
You do to new fair enough Roncos Country tonight here
on Kawakam not for one time, Who's works
