Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to It, Broncos Country Tonight, short Show Tonight Post
Rockies edition. We got a game on Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers
Denver Broncos right here on KOA. You guys can turn
the radio on early nine am. Myself Ryan Edwards be
doing the gambling and fantasy shows and get started at

(00:27):
nine am here with that, and then we got Alet
Jojo with the Broncos game Day and then we kick
off our game time coverage immediately following that with Ryan Edwards,
Dave Logan, Rick Lewis was Awards and the whole cast
and crew right here on KOA five six, six, nine
Zeros text line, A little bit of injury news to

(00:47):
catch up with you guys on, but not gonna be
Russell Wilson. It's gonna be justin Fields on Sunday for
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Russell Wilson remains limited with a
calf injury that basically kept him out of action since
last Thursday. Wilson was initially named the Steelers starter for

(01:07):
Week one, dealt with titness in his calf and required
imaging and treatment before the team's game against the Falcons.
There aren't any signs of significant aggravation. Although Wilson was
among Pittsburgh's in actives against Atlanta, would appear to be
headed down that same path this week. Head coach Mike
Tomlin told reporters back on Tuesday that the team is
preparing as though fields will get another nod against Denver.

(01:28):
There's been nothing to alter that line of thinking thus far.
Based on Wilson's level of participation. Thirty five year old
signal caller is going to miss his chance that the
revenge game against the Broncos remains to be seen if
he can work his way back for Pittsburgh's Week three
home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers next week. Other

(01:48):
Steelers news, right in Cam Heyward didn't participate, although it
was a vet day for him, he's fine. He was
played thirty five snaps against Atlanta, should be full go
starting against that. Linebacker Patrick Queen was a new entry
on the report with a groin injury that caused him
to miss practice. He played fifty six snaps against the Falcons,
missed four tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. Starting left

(02:10):
n Larry Ogunjobi was a full participant after he was
limited on Wednesday. With a knee injury. Rookie wide receiver
Roman Wilson, who's done with an ankle injury since the
beginning of training camp, was a full participant for the
first time this season. Starting left tackle Dan Moore return
to the return to practice as a full participant, and
he was held out Wednesday with an ankle injury. Corner
Darius Rush is out of the contracussion protocol, also returned

(02:33):
limited participant after missing Wednesday's practice, and starting left guard
Isaac Samalo remains out with a pectoral injury he suffered
back on August twenty eighth. That's probably the biggest loss
for the Steelers in this game, as their starting left
guard arguably their best offensive lineman. When all is said

(02:53):
and done, as well, the Broncos have some injury outs.
Uh and we'll get uh. We'll get the full report
on that here in a second, But divide Vala being
out is one that uh is gonna be is gonna
be tough. Vala led the Broncos and catches in Week one.

(03:14):
You know he's got the rib injury. Troy Franklin is
expected to be active for this game. So for those
of you who wanted to see him there you go,
you know he he I don't know how much run
he'll get, but he is expected to be active for
this one. There are a few other bumps and bruises

(03:39):
for the Broncos that are out there, obviously. I think
everybody knows about Garrett Bowles. He had a limited practice Thursday,
at full practice today. Josh Reynolds, same thing, Luke Wattenburg,
same thing. Jodah Ellis has had full practice the last
two days. Ellis is gonna be fine. He's gonna be
He's gonna be a go. Garrett Bowles had an ankle,

(04:03):
we'll see, but he had a full practice today turning
the right way. Josh Reynolds full practice today is probably
a go, and Luke Wattenberg expected to be a go
as well for the Broncos. So not a whole lot
of outs for the Broncos. But the vallet officially listed
is out. For the Steelers. We went over those. Russ

(04:25):
and Rumble. Wilson, by the way, listed is questionable, so
uh see him allows out and all the other guys
had full practices. Rush Queen Morgan, Joey Old's guys had
a full practices, so they are probably probably good to go.
For those who don't know the the NFL's status definitions

(04:48):
are full practice, which is one hundred percent of reps
and then out will not play, doubtful and likely to play, questionable,
uncertain to play, and then you know obviously in so
there you go. Broncos are going to have to do
something different on offense because what they came into this

(05:08):
Steelers the Seahawks game with was absolutely ridiculous. You didn't
commit to the run, you weren't using any of the
stuff that you you did in the preseason, and it
just seemed like they wanted to get quick hitters and
keep his completion percentage high. And it didn't feel like
that there was any cojing or coherent game plan. I've

(05:29):
talked to a couple of different guys. Talked to an
NFL defensive coordinator today, watch it game and he, you know,
he said that he didn't know what was going on
with with that, what it was they were trying to
do in that game. It didn't really seem uh, it
just seemed like, Okay, we'll try this now, and I
will try this than than anything else. So we'll see.

(05:50):
But they're gonna have to They're gonna have to commit
the running the football and building off play action, and
you know, bo Nicks is gonna have to settle down.
I think it was on both of them. I don't
think that this this loss at Seattle that we just
had was one thing or the other. I think that
Boknicks looked like a rookie quarterback at the game was
too fast for and Sean Payton looked like a guy
who decided to scrap everything that he did and setting

(06:12):
him up in game planning in the preseason. So we'll see,
We'll see how it goes. I think the Broncos can
win this game. I do. I know Pittsburgh's defense is
pretty formidable. I don't particularly care for their offense with
justin fields in there. You know, we'll see. The main
thing is making sure Boenicks doesn't look overwhelmed because he

(06:35):
did no run game to give him support. You got
him out there throwing forty plus times. It didn't really
utilize his legs until the final drive. It just we've
got to do better. We've got to craft a game
plan around what this guy can do in order to win.
And it's just frustrating to see sort of the same old,

(06:59):
the same old Sean Payton, where we're shuffling in and
out these different personnel groups and the formation is static
from the snap and we don't use any pre stap
motion and it's just, you know, it's just it's frustrating. Honestly,
it's frustrating from my side. I'm sure it's frustrating from
you guys as side as well. A strength of both

(07:20):
these teams is their defenses. It's difficult to think that
this game gets to blow out territory or anything like that.
I know we've had pundits on the air saying some
wild stuff. I think I saw somebody predict the Broncos
by two touchdowns in this one. That doesn't feel right
to me. But we'll see. The Steelers haven't lost a
game by multiple touchdowns since Week thirteen of last year.

(07:43):
Rookie quarterbacks against the Steelers all time against Mike tomlin
Er six and twenty five. So I don't you know,
I don't know that this is something to me that
favors that never Broncos at all. I mean, you're talking
about it, You're talking about something that's a fifteen to
twenty winning percentage Rookie quarterbacks so last year you had

(08:07):
two rookie quarterbacks that did beat the Steelers, c J.
Stroud being one of them, Dorian Thompson Robinson who did
just enough, being the other one. But it's pretty strong, Uh,
it's pretty strong against that. So we'll see, we'll see
if if we can come up with a coherent game plan.
I think the the defense here is set. I think
the Broncos defense is is certainly set to make Justin

(08:29):
Fields look silly. You look last year statistically, you know,
Fields had a good game, one of the best games
of his career. Right, It's it's it's interesting the Bears
lost obviously in that game, but Fields had a game

(08:54):
that was well, pretty prolific for him. I'll say he's not,
you know, not really the world's most prolific passer, but
at three hundred and thirty five yards in that game
on eighty percent completion percentage and four touchdowns to one interception,
it's a pretty good game. Now, he did also lose
a fumble in that game and took four sacks as well,

(09:18):
and did lose to the Denver Broncos. But you know,
it's most of the time is passing product. His passing
profile has not been that good and he only had
four carries for twenty five yards. Vance Joseph typically does
a good job against mobile quarterbacks, but they really just
didn't have an answer for Dj Morri cole Kmet you know,

(09:40):
in that game, Comett had seven catches eighty five yards
and a pair of touchdowns, and there were some busted
coverages that looked pretty bad. And Dj Moore is an
incredible receiver. We've all seen that, you know before. And
it didn't hurt that Khalil Herbert was was running the
ball well. He had eighteen carries for one hundred and
three as well. But you know, Nick Buto forced uh

(10:01):
forced to fumble in that one that Jonathan Cooper recovered.
You know it was Kareem Jackson had an interception in
that one. Butito had himself a game against the Bears
in that two and a half sacks and a forced fumble.
Cooper had a sack, Zach Allen had half a sack.
And I think that this Steelers offensive line is not
even as good as the Bears offensive line was last year.

(10:25):
This this Steelers offensive line, if you go back and
watch against the Falcons, this is not very good. Their
best We already mentioned their best guard is out uh
in Isaac Simbolo, and that presents the problem. But they
you know, they've they've got Zach Frasier, who's a rookie
h sitting in there at center. You get Dan Moore
at the left tackle and Broderick Jones at the right

(10:46):
although Troy Faltano might might get in there a little bit.
James Daniels at right guard. It's it's just not a
very good offensive line. They're not very deep. They don't
have a lot of a lot of depth, a lot
of bodies, and it's really not the strength of what
they do. They also don't have a whole heck of
a lot of receiving talent on the team. You know,
they've got George Pickens is the starting acts, but you're

(11:08):
the rest of your receivers are Van Jefferson, Scottie Miller,
Calvin Austin, and an injured Roman Wilson. They do like
to go twelve personnel and double up on the tight ends.
You get guys like Friarmouth, Michael Pruitt, Darnell Washington, uh
doing that that Connor Hayward as well, But that that's
really their base. They love to go two tight ends

(11:28):
to start and they power run you with with Najee Harris.
They've got Jay lib Warren, who I think is actually
their best running back who they kind of use to
change of pace guy. And then Quarterell Patterson who gets
some you know, some some run as well. But they're
not really The Steelers are not a team as this
designed to be a high flying offense. They're not really

(11:49):
They're not really wired that way. They don't have the
bodies for that. You know, they don't protect all that well.
They don't have guys that can get open that well.
And so if you're the devil Broncos, you got to
look at this and say, okay, we're going to do
our best to you know, to try to try to
limit things and forced them into situations that they're not
gonna be comfortable in. You have patzer tan On, George Pickens, well,
then the rest of these guys are gonna get opportunities

(12:09):
to make plays on the ball. You know, if you
look at how Justin Fields targeted that out. Pickens was
by far the guy who went to the most against
the Falcons. He had six receptions on seven targets for
eighty five yards, but nobody else was really much of
a contributor. Friarmuth was targeted four times, made four catches
for only twenty seven yards, and nobody else had more

(12:31):
than two targets even thrown at them. Nagee Jalen Warren,
Michael Pruitt, Calvin Austin, and Van Jefferson and most of
those guys didn't even get into the double digits and
receiving yards one catch for nine, one catch for nine,
one catch for seven, one catch for five, one catch
for one. They just the game plan was hitting the
short stuff and you know, and trying to create something,

(12:53):
and it just it just really wasn't working for them.
They did get a little bit of success out of
Najie Harris, but a lot of his yard and he
had twenty carries for seventy yards came on one carry,
had twenty twenty yards on one carry, the other nineteen
went for you know, fifty yards. Fields himself had fourteen

(13:15):
carries for fifty seven yards, twelve of which came on
one play. So it wasn't what you would call a
very successful day for Pittsburgh's offense against Atlanta, and I
don't Atlanta's defense isn't as good as the Broncos defense
new additions that they have. Notwithstanding, it's just not You

(13:39):
look at Pittsburgh's defense and TJ. Watt continues to be
a monster. I think Montravius Adams plays plays pretty well.
Dante Jackson had a big interception, a couple of passes.
Defense there was he was kind of feeling himself in
that one. You know, Minka Fitzpatrick, Alex high Smith cleaning
up on the you know, on the tackles. Interestingly, big

(14:00):
free agent edition, Patrick Queen. He had two tackles, two
solos to assist, but he had four mistackles in that game.
And that's something to kind of keep your eye ones
he's been dealing a little bit with with an injury.
Watt had a sack, three QB hits. Ogn Joby didn't
get a savvage to get two QB hits. They get
after the quarterback, they do, and so you know, you've

(14:21):
got to be You've got to be cognizant of that.
And I hope that we have a game plan that
allows for bo Nicks to get it out quickly, but
not in the same way that we did against Seattle.
Now Seattle is playing camped out in his zone, and

(14:41):
and that you know that eliminates the lot of the
yards after the catcht white Belt waiting on you just
to shut you down. But we've got to get high
percentage plays. And I think the thing we need to
do is establish a run early and and then the
screen game is going to be vital. If you can
run at T J. Watt and then screen him, I
think you're I think you get him, you know, back
on his heels a little bit, take him out of
his element. It'll ma everything else a little bit easier
to do. Get the ball down a field if you

(15:03):
want to, and go from there. So I'm looking forward
to this one. I do believe the Broncos have a
good chance at winning this one. I know I was
a lone person on the station to PI Seattle last week,
probably be picking Denver in this one. I think it'd
be a close game, though, I think we're looking at
something like a like a twenty seventeen type game. I know,
like I said, I know I've seen some pretty optimistic

(15:24):
predictions out there, but that's that's not really where I'm at.
I think I think this team can win, and I
think but I think it'll be a closer game. I
think it'll be a hard fought, physical football game, and
I'm hoping that the Broncos can re establish themselves with
sort of an attitude on offense, specifically on the offensive line.

(15:45):
You know, if we can get if we can get
this offensive line, which is very, very highly compensated outside
of Wattenberger is still playing a rookie deal at center.
You tackles and guards are getting paid a lot of money,
and so it's it's time to get them going downhill.
It's time to you know, with this offense, it's time
to uh to get them roll. And they needed to

(16:07):
earn those paychecks. You know, Quinn got paid in the
off season. Mcglinchan Powers got paid last offseason. Bol's been
paid for a couple of years. These guys know what
time it is, and so I'm I'm hoping that what
we see is a downhill rushing attack with some screen
game stuff and maybe a little rpo you know, uh
here and there, a deep shot early to kind of

(16:27):
keep them honest. I don't necessarily need to see a
ton of deep balls, but I want to see one
at least early to to kind of keep them honest,
maybe open up with it, have shot pay and open
up with it and see where see what bow Knicks
can do, and you know, and kind of go from there.
We'll see what that looks like right here on KOWA
on on Sunday morning. So we come back, we go

(16:47):
around the league. We got a lot of news and
notes to catch up with Christian McCaffrey out for the game.
Talk about that next year. Brocos Country Tonight, KOA. We'llcome
back to it. Broncos Country Tonight. Benjamin Albright here with you.
Michael Coover producing tonight short show obviously post Rockies edition,

(17:09):
looking forward to the game on Sunday Broncos Steelers. I
told you guys want to be in there. He plugged
in on KOA about nine am. Ryan and I will
start off with the Gambling Show, through the Fantasy Football
Show immediately after that, and then I'll launch you into
Broncos Game Day with Jojo big Al and then you know,
all our coverage the rest of the day with Ryan Edwards,
Stave Logan, Rick Lewis, and Susie Warden. So keep it

(17:32):
locked right here on Koway on Sunday. We got the
big csu CU match up this weekend. I took CSU
in the points. We'll see see what happens in that one.
I know we are the official home to see you buff,
so you can also listen to that game right here
on KOWA. It's this. This Broncos game this weekend continues

(17:54):
to kind of confound me a little bit because I
keep going over the Seattle tape and I'm just shaking
my head and I'm hoping that they are able to
put together an offense that is worthy of the fans
that are coming out to see this thing. A lot
of fans had a lot of optimism in this thing,
and I feel like that we need to put something
together that it gets them what they deserve, gets them
a win, sets this young quarterback up for success, and

(18:15):
I'm hoping we see that on Sunday. One team that
not been set in your fantasy team up for success
will be the San Francisco forty nine ers. Christian McCaffrey
has been ruled out against the Vikings on Sunday, and
it might even be several weeks before he rejoins the
lineup at Coach Kyle Shanahan ruled out McCaffrey during a

(18:36):
press conference today and he said that injured reserve stint
is a consideration for the running back Shanahan said that
the team will be discussing that possibility over the next
twenty four hours and McCaffrey, who has calf at achilles' injuries,
would miss at least four games if the team does
go in that direction. McCaffrey didn't play in the first
game of the regular season. All of the Niners waited

(18:56):
until game day to rule him out at that time,
and it said on Friday that McCaffrey experienced the most
paint he's had on Thursday, which likely led to the
decision to rule him out and mind as your reserves
into the conversation, George Mason will be in line to
start at running back until McCaffrey returns to action. And
while McCaffrey was the main storyline, and he had also
said the Niners will be listing safety Talada Hoofnaga as

(19:20):
doubtful and linebacker d Winners as questionable. If you're like
me and you drafted Christian McCaffrey first overall in your
fantasy draft, you're feeling pretty crummy right now. Hopefully you
guys got Jordan Mason in there to spell some of that.
I got lucky enough wound up with a chain as well,
So I just got to got to ride it out
until Christian McCaffrey's back in there and hope that hope

(19:42):
that I'll be good to go. The Houston Texans starting
tight end Dalton Schultz against the Bears on Sunday Night football.
Schultz returned to practice after not practicing on Wednesday or
Thursday while re you having an ankle injury. He has
no designation. Made three catches for sixteen yards and the
opener Jaxson's list starting center jew Strugs and backup running

(20:04):
back Damian Pierce as questionable. Scruggs has a growing issue.
Pierce at a hamstring neither of practice today after both
popped up on the practice report yesterday as limited participants.
Jared Patterson took first team reps at center today. Pierce
played only nine offensive snaps five on special teams. In
the openers. Starter Joe Mixon played fifty seven snaps and

(20:24):
third stringer d Ogunbowle played thirteen. I messed that name
up every time. The Texans have cam Akers on the
practice squad as well, and he would replace Pierce against
the Bears. Safety MJ. Stewart was ruled out with a
knee Bronco's previous opponent, Seattle Seahawks, are preparing to play
without running back Kenneth Walker against the Patriots this Sunday.

(20:47):
Walker has been out of practice this week with a
bleaque injury, and the Seahawks listened him as doubtful to play.
As a result. Walker ran twenty times FO one hundred
and three yards and a touchdown on the season opening
win over the Broncos. Zach Sharbona and Kenny mackinsh Or,
the backup running backs for Seattle Seahawks, also expected to
be missing right tackle George Phant because of a knee injury.
He joins Walker in the doubtful category. Tight End Farrell Brown,

(21:10):
like linebacker Uchenna and Nuosso, have been ruled out. Linebackers
Jerome Baker and Tyrol Dodson are considered questionable. Teams have
lately been exploring selling off minority shares. We already talked
about the private equity laws of the NFL pat rules
the NFL passed, most of which I disagree with, but

(21:30):
we'll be seeing some teams coming up for ownership stakes
here soon, and the Dolphins are right out in front.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross could be one of the first
owners to try to turn to the private equity rules
and use them to turn into cole Heart cash. Either
New York Times, Ross currently is talking with multiple private
equity term firms along with individuals, to sell up to

(21:50):
fifteen percent of the franchise. The valuation would exceed seven billion,
which means that fifteen percent would cost roughly one point
five billion. In two thousand and nine, he finalized the
purchase of the entire team at At Stadium for one billion.
Ross previously had been talking with Ken Griffin for a
minority piece of the team. At one point, Ross reportedly

(22:14):
declined and offer an excess of ten billion, presumably from Griffin,
for the team It's stadium and the Miami F one race.
Part of the new report. The minority piece would include
equity and hard Walk Stadium and the annual F one contest.
Ross reporter is looking to sell as much as fifteen
percent of the team. The new rule would cap the
private equity investment at ten percent. The only problem with

(22:37):
minority interests comes from a complete lack of control that
goes along with them. It is a passive investment, silent
partnership of nity play for a lot of people, but
a pretty good investment given the ongrowing growth and the
value of NFL franchises. Again, Ross, who bought the Dolphins
in two thousand and nine for just over a billion
dollars and now selling fifteen percent of it for one

(23:00):
point five billion, would mean he's playing with house money
in terms of the rest of the franchise and goes
to show you exactly how much in fifteen years that
the value of the franchise went up seven times. That's
that's pretty good. Cowboys' depth of tight end's going to
be tested Sunday against the Saints. Only two Dallas players
have designations for Week two. Both play tight end. John

(23:22):
Stevens has a hamstring he's already out, and starter Jake
Ferguson with the knee is doubtful. Luke schoon Maker, who's
a second round pick in twenty twenty three, expected to
make his first career start. He played three hundred and
sixty eight snaps last season as a rookie, made eight
receptions sixty five yards two touchdowns. Reverend span Ford is
also active rod in the roster at the position. Princeton
Fant could get a call up from the practice squad.

(23:45):
Ferguson's injury looked worse than what it was. He was
diagnosed with a Grade one MCL sprain. Although Ferguson said
earlier this week he thought he could play this week,
he did not practice. Made three catches fifteen yards before
exiting the opener. Rookie defensive end Marshawn Nieland returned to
full practice Friday, does not have a designation. He sat

(24:05):
out Wednesday's practice and was limited on Thursday. Jordan Love
is being listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Head coach Matt Lafleur kept the possibility alive Love playing
on the table his Friday press conference. Packers QB one
suffered an MCL injury during last Friday's season oper against

(24:27):
the Eagles. He's doing well, what Flora said the Wes
Hotwitz of the team's website. He's got a great attitude.
He's working hard get better every day. Malik Willis will
start in Love's place if he isn't able to play.
As expected. Receiver Jaden Reid, who has a calf and
shin was added to the injury report as a limited
participant on Friday. He's listed question running Back Marshaun Lloyd

(24:48):
as a hamstring also questionable after limited all week. Running
Backs Josh Jacob, defensive lineman Kenny Clark, linebacker kway Walker,
corner Corey Ballentine, and linebacker Edgeran Cooper all have no
game status. They're all set the play in Week two.
Linebacker Terrell Bernard's pertoral injury is not season ending, Bill said.

(25:08):
Coach Sean McDermott confirmed what was reported earlier today. Bernard
will miss multiple weeks with a strain. The Bills continue
to discuss whether to put him on the IR, though
that seems unlikely. McDermott said, Unfortunately, he's going to be
out multiple weeks. Via Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network,
we're talking about whether it's not an IR conducive type
situation or not. I'm aware of the report. We still

(25:29):
have some internal conversations to determine if he's going to
end up in IR or not. Bernard played fourteen of
Buffalo's defensive snaps Thursday night. For leaving with his injury,
he was a team captain with thirteen total tackles this season,
McDermott said he would anticipate Bayalin Spector starting in Bernard's stead.
Spector played sixty two snaps total ten tackles, including a

(25:51):
TfL in the win over the Dolphins. Bills did not
need another injury at the position, with Matt Mulano out
after tearing its bicep back in August. Left tackle Talisi
Fuaga corner Marshawn Lattimore remain out of practice on Friday,
but the Saints haven't ruled either player out for Sunday's
game against the Cowboys. Wagga and Latimore are both listed

(26:11):
as questionable for Week two. Wagga was limited by a
back injury Wednesday before sitting the next two days. Latimore
missed all three days of practice with a hamstring injury.
Safety Tyrad Matthew and tight end Foster Moreau, where both
participants on Friday, have no designation going into the game.
Saints ruled out linebacker to Marco Jackson and defensive tackle

(26:32):
Kaitlin Saunders with calf injuries. In the aftermath of the
latest concussions suffered by Dolphins quarterback to A Tagavaloa Many
have chimed in with an opinion that he should retire,
and those advising retirement include Amazon Primes, Toty Gonzales, Raiders
head coach, and Toonio Pierce. The decision to retire would

(26:54):
come only after he's cleared to play and decides not to,
But before he can retire, doctors would have to decide
that he can and should be cleared. Despite officially three
and unofficially at least four concussions, including at least two
that was serious enough to spark the fencing posture. Those
of you who don't know what that is, it's kind
of that that arms extended fencing. It looks like you're
fencing after you get hit, and he had that on

(27:17):
Thursday night. On the one hand, it's it's not time
to talk about money. On the other the money is
probably too big to ignore. A copy of his contract
is out there and it confirms that it contains the
usual standard language that would put him in the usual
standard situation if you were to retire from the game

(27:38):
only two games into this contract. Contract does not have
clauses or exceptions or waivers regarding concussions. The word concussion
isn't even mentioned in it, so all injury guarantees apply
even if the injuries in question are concussions. Likewise, the
same consequences would arrive as for any other player. If

(27:59):
Two were to choose to retire only two games into
a five year contract. The contract carries more than one
hundred and sixty seven million in injury guarantees, and he
earned a forty two million dollars signing bonus upon execution
of the deal. The contract requires fifteen million to be
paid before August thirty first of this year, and then
a fifteen million to be paid before October fifteenth of

(28:20):
this year, and the remaining twelve million to be paid
out as part of his eighteen weekly game checks. If
two are retires after of course being clear to play,
he would lose the balance of the guarantees, and if
the Dolphins were inclined exercise their right to recover paid
but unearned signing bonus money, they could seek eight point

(28:41):
four million for each year remaining on the deal, along
with four hundred and sixty six thousand dollars roughly for
each game left in twenty twenty four after he were
to be cleared, and these numbers are important to consider
when looking at the broader crush of whether he should
retire for financial reasons. Two years ago, retirement wouldn't have
come with a massive nine figure financial consequence, so he's

(29:03):
going to have to sort of look at that. The Dolphins, meanwhile,
face the prospect of paying more than one hundred and
sixty seven million over the next three years if he
isn't clear to play. The real dollars also become cap
dollars that the Dolphins wouldn't have for other players, and
it sort of sets up an awkward dance because in
the end there could be I guess, a negotiated compromise
with too retiring and Miami retaining a certain portion. But

(29:26):
however it plays out, everybody knew we was one snap
away during any game, and the contract negotiated has no
language affording any special rights to the player or the
team in the event that this particular thing happened. I know,
we're all you know. My thoughts are with two. I
don't really didn't want to get into the money. I
just I kept getting asked so much about this on

(29:46):
Twitter that I felt like, you guys deserve to know.
And plus it saves me a little bit having to
explain it fifteen times exactly where where this is at
in terms of what will happen should he elect to
discontinue his NFL career retire, And I mean I can't,

(30:12):
and I couldn't in good conscience sit there and advise
him to continue on. I thought he was going to
retire after the last concussion. To me, it felt like
it's only a matter of time type situation. And you know,
I don't know, I'm just not I'm not the kind
of person who's gonna sit there and say that that

(30:33):
somebody who's had multiple concussions is it's a good idea
for them to keep playing the game. You go back
and you look at you know, some of the players
who have had those issues, and you know, we all
know where u CTE is at this point. Those kinds
of things, I think that you really have to it

(30:58):
really had to have a good grasp on where you
are in order to make that decision to go forward.
Some of this game takes a lot out of you.
And so he needs to get together his family, get healthy.
Not think about that right now, but once he gets healthy,
then come to a collected decision. Because we too often
we've seen We've seen what becomes of people that continue
to do that after multiple concussions, and you know, what

(31:20):
is one more concussion? You know, at this point going
to do I mean, you know, I already feel like
he's in a bad way, and so hopefully good sense
prevails here after he gets healthy. The Lions listed a
key pair of offensive players as questionable play against the

(31:41):
Bucks on Sunday. Wide receiver Jamison Williams right tacker Pinay
Sewell both drew designations due to ankle injuries. Williams was
limited and practice all week, so will miss two days
before getting a limited session in today. Lion's also listen
to Kirby Joseph as questionable, so they've got outstanding issues
on both sides of the ball. Defensive lineman Marcus Davenport

(32:02):
not expected to play safety if two. Melifon Wu and
wide receiver Issaiah Williams have been ruled out as well.
Kyle Van Noor returned to practice, but his officialist is questionable.
On Sunday, Ravens outside linebacker Kyle van Noy limited in
the day's session after he did not participate on Wednesday
and Thursday. Van Noy recorded a tackle ant a QB

(32:23):
hit against the Chiefs season opener. Corner Nate Wiggins ruled out.
Outside linebacker Adisa Isaac finished the week limited in all
three sessions. Listed doubtful linebacker Roquant Smith had a shoulder issue,
but he's a full go Thursday and Friday. He is
set to play Cleveland Browns Miles Garrett Zadarius Smith both
going to play on Sunday. Both return of the practice

(32:46):
field today. Neither has a designation. Zadarius kind of downplayed
his absence is more of a vet day for rest
than anything else. Garrett conceded that there was something to
his foot issue, which he was dealing during with the
Browns loss to the Cowboys, saying, I wouldn't say there's
nothing to worry about, just something for us to manage,
be conscious of, at least for myself, be conscious and
the little cautious. He made two tackles, a sack and

(33:08):
a forced fumble against the Cowboys. The Browns won't have
left tackle Jedrick Wills, tight end David and Joku. Right
tackle Jack Cockin is questionable. Uh, It's there's a bit
of attrition out there in the in the league right now,
with a lot of these injuries. Malik Neighbors, though went
through full practice, has nossignation for Sunday. Giants coach Brian

(33:30):
Davis said earlier Friday has no concern about rookie receiver
Molik neighbors knee injury. The status report second at that
Neighbors was a full participant in Friday's practice as nossignation
for Sunday's game against the Commanders. Neighbors said his he
didn't feel right during Thursday's practice. The team elected to
play it safe limited participation. He was the number six
overall pick us pass draft had five passes sixty six

(33:53):
yards against the Vikings. The Giants ruled out dB Nick McCleod,
linebacker Darius Massau, and wide receiver Gonal Lushki, who was
growing issue. Wide receiver Darius Slayton had a concussion return
to full participation that does not have a designation. So
a lot of injuries around the league. I mean, you
look at this right now, and even Joey Bosa was

(34:14):
sidelined for another practice. He's questionable on Sunday. Steve Avilo,
who want to win an e procedure. Rob Havenstein set
the play. Keenan Allen Rollmadones are listed as questionable for
the Bears. A lot of injuries run in the league
early on this year. It's interesting to watch the course.
We're valet out for the Broncos and we're keeping our
eye on Wattenberg and Bulls who are expected to go.
But yeah, a lot of injuries around the league early

(34:35):
on this year, and some of football's a war of attrition,
as we well know. You are listening to Broncos country
