Speaker 1 (00:00):
Congratulations to Girardo Cruz was our winner for the tickets
to the Raiders game the Raiders Broncos game this week
at Girardo Cruz was our winner.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Congratulations to him.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
We are going to go right out to the KWA
common spelled hotline and bring on our guy, Tim Jenkins,
t Jenkins Elite on the on the social somewhere in
the Jenkins Elite hat right now. It's a little dirty.
I get made fun of for it. But Tim, how
you doing this weekend?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm doing great. I'm doing great.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
How are you guys doing doing?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Doing pretty well? We'll get to it here in a
minute with the bow Knicks breakdown and all that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Are you a pickleball player at all?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
You know? I've gotten into it a little bit, all right.
Me and uh me and the wife went to somebody's
fortieth birthday party and it was a co ed pickle tournament.
I'm not gonna act like me and Emily live in
the same world with competitiveness, so I don't think it
helped for Austin in a co ed setting. But no,
it was fun. It was fun. Iron join it. I

(01:02):
just I you know, I'm a little worried about adding
another hobby that I'm just going to be mediocre at,
so I'm trying to avoid that, like golf. But but
it seemed it seemed addictive when I started to play it.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Well, we're here at the Sporty Pickle Bar. Girl. They
have literal pickleball courts in this bar.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Now their their walled offense was a glass on the
other side, so you don't have to hear it all
the time. But there's pickleball in this bar, and every
time I'm like, you know what I need to do.
I need to invite Jenkins out because we both have
the same level of hyper competitiveness. And we'll get out
here and play some pickleball and and talk some trash.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I think it'd be great. I'd probably lose some clients
up there, or some people that'll be like, I'm never
trying to jink asleep, but I think it'd be great.
I think, uh, pork a little sweat, plus a couple
of cold Modellas after we'd be living to dream.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I look, I'm putting it out there. If you don't
like it, sent it right back. You know how things
work around here.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Tim.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
We saw a game up there in New York, New Jersey,
as it were, that maybe set football back one hundred years.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
In terms of offense, the elements there not can do
sift a great passing game, but the Broncos is getting
done with the power run game on the ground.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Bow Nicks the winner or excuse me.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
The second lowest passing total yardage in a win in
modern football history. It was again not exactly an explosive
game for the Broncos, but there were things to.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Like, Yeah, I think it was. I mean, honestly, it
was a It was kind of a brutal watch on
the film, and it wasn't like particularly a bad thing
for Nicks. It was just we've all been in those
situations where it's hard to grip a football and you're
not moving it. Well. The reality for Broncos fans is like,

(02:38):
and I get people are like, oh, I don't want
to hear about it because you know their NFL quarterbacks
gotta yet. Yeah, but like if Aaron Rodgers is struggling
to throw the football on the other side, right, like
you have an issue. Right, no one's ever been like,
you know, who can't throw it very well? As Aaron Rodgers, right,
Aaron has always been one of the better just pure
throwers in the game. So you saw in the first
half both offenses kind of were just stagnant. I I

(03:00):
think the thing that to like was the Broncos. I mean,
we're finally coming on here and talking about them find
they're finding a way to win. I think that's the
biggest takeaway is for the first time in what I
feel like the history of me and you talking about
this is like they found a way to win a
sloppy game. It feels like these are the ones we
always found a way to lose, or we were actually

(03:22):
playing decent and still found a way to lose. So
to me, it's like, I think, if anything, you take
a little bit as all from the fact that, hey,
the Broncos found a way to win, and this offense
found a way to come alive when they needed it most.
I think, you know, the twenty yard dig the sun
was pretty darn good, and then all of a sudden,
if they connect on one of those four third and
medium shot plays they took, we probably feel a little

(03:44):
bit different about the game. Those just you know, they
kind of went over four on those on those one
on one takeoffs to Courtland and the rain, and then
all of a sudden you have the kind of output
you had. But to me, it's like they found a
way to win. And I think that's probably the most
important takeaway from this game, because I don't think you're
going to find out anything from a scheme or like
a true evaluation of Bonix in those conditions.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Well, Tim, Usually I hear from a lot of the
individuals who evaluate quarterbacks they want the quarterback to be
a pocket passer, because is just believe as though that's
the defining moments of a quarterback. But what I continue
to see show up we can week out for bow
Nicks and I go back to the coiling sudden touchdowns

(04:26):
that was not thrown from the pocket, that.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Was thrown with Bow on the move.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
So explain to the listening audience, how does things change
for a quarterback playing from the pocket opposed to playing
on the move.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, I mean I think you kind of look at
it twofold, right, or like, hey, are they scrambling because
they are comfortable scrambling? Right? Like are they bailing on
clean pockets or is it a true pocket evacuation? Right? Like? Hey,
do we have a reason to move. I think, you know,
sometimes we kind of hamper some guy in by saying, oh, no,

(05:01):
he likes to move, but in reality, you know, the
pocket breaks down, so then he's movement moving, or you know, hey,
the play is completely broke down and now we're going
to start to scramble to see if you know, scrambled
drill can give this play kind of second life. So
to me, I think when you saw Bow moving around,
I think a lot of it's him either the pockets
breaking down and heck I got to get out of there,
or he's trying to give the play second life. You know,

(05:24):
I think the Courland Sutton touchdown anytime you can see
you see Courtland doing that is pretty darn good. That's
the one that I wonder, you know, I don't know
if you guys really, I don't know if you guy
got a chance to watch to all twenty two on
that one. That one's funny to me because it's like,
you know, everyone right now runs that mesh concept right
where one receiver on each side runs a shallow and
then they have a guy on the DP pank behind

(05:44):
it and really read a shallow to deepank a shallow
on the other side, Courland, it looks like that's the
play they call on. It looks like Couryland the season
opening and takes it. I wonder, you know, if that's
what's what happened there, or if what happened was, Hey,
you know, that's what the way they designed it. So
I'd be interested to see what actually happened with that
with that touchdown.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, it was from what I understand, it was, you know,
his basic dagger play. And you know, I think we
all saw the We also throws a little bit high.
One of the things that I've been talking about. Both
had a habit of throwing the ball a little bit high.
And you know, we talked about nerves, we talked about
impressing a little bit whatever that is. But what can
we do to get bow Knicks to quit throwing the

(06:25):
ball so high?

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Mine, I think it's shoulder level. I think if you
kind of see him sometimes on those double hitches where
he throws the big dig at Courtland, you can kind
of see his shoulder level. Just that front shoulder kind
of just gets pointed up a little bit too much.
And to me, it's like, we don't mind that front
shoulder getting high if we're throwing those true level three
like dropping the bucket go balls. When you're trying to

(06:49):
throw those intermediate routes right like those you know, sixteen
like twenty four, you really want to still stay level
because it's like, hey, we've at times we got to
get over the linebacker, but really we still want to
get that thing Doug be down in front of the safety.
So to me, I think it's shoulder level I think
would really help that. And obviously keeping his back foot
engage versus kicking that backfoot up is going to help
maintain that shoulder level. Betw me. If you can kind

(07:10):
of level out his shoulders and then also keep that
backfoot engage, that's usually the way that we've been able
to cure it. I don't think it's a I don't
think it's a unfixable issue, right. I think sometimes we
do see quarterbacks where it's just like, hey, they're triggers off, right,
like their aim is off and no matter really what
you do. I don't see that with Bow. I see
it as like, Okay, there's an actual mechanical issue that's addressable,

(07:33):
which to me is always exciting. I don't listeners don't
always like hearing that because they feel like, Okay, hey,
that's a you know, a process it and it is.
With that being said, though, you'd rather, you know, to me,
i'd always have something where it's like, hey, I feel
like we can fix this versus you know, I have
no idea why he's inaccurate. I think that's you know,
a bigger issue if if that's what you're seeing.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
So, now that we've talked about bows technical issues, let's
look at things from a schematic standpoint. What if you
scene or let me rephrase that, what would you like
to see moving forward? With everything you said about Bo's
technical issues at times? What can coach Peyton too in
your mind, to kind of get Bo a little more

(08:14):
settle and acclimated to what he's saying defensively?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah, I want to see that continued. They've been pretty
darn aggressive, right. I think since Tampa they've been aggressive
in their play calling. I just want to see that continue.
I think driving the ball down the field, I think
some of those deep over shots that they're taking now
are really exciting. But to me, it's like keeping them
on this path. What's funny is, you know, you go
the first three weeks of the season, right or the

(08:40):
or the first to whatever, the first two games, and
you go, man, this is pretty brutal, right, like we're
not being aggressive with the football. It's like we're kind
of just you know, like like everything is like very
like a neutered version of an offense, right, Like it's
just like, hey, everything's underneath. Everything's like we're playing scared
and then obviously and then we come out is like

(09:00):
three straight shot plays and then even against New York
in the rain, it's like we're throwing vertical. So to me,
it's like it's almost the third and medium calls. I'd
like to see grow of, you know, a true mesh
where we're giving our guy a shot to hey, let's
pick somebody off and with the rub route on the
on the man coverage, or hey, you know a true
option route, true stick concept. Those I kind of see

(09:23):
us get back to on those third mediums because third
medium is New York. Man, we're throwing shots still, So
to me, I liked it. We're getting aggressive and I
understand a little bit of the game plan thought process,
which is, hey, on third down, soul is gonna heat
us up. They're gonna play man let's see if we
can hit one right. I get the thought process. I
just do think it'd be nice to see, you know,
maybe hey, a shot designed to one side of the

(09:45):
play and the other side of the play is hey,
you know, if we do hold up in protection, we
got a little option route runner underneath, and we're gonna
kind of, you know, bump his guy with a dig
route and some of those. So to me, that's where
I'd like to see him grow. Honestly though, I've been
pretty please these last two weeks with just how aggressive
Sean's been, and I think that's more where Sean wants
to live. And I do think like I'd be one

(10:08):
to bet if someone actually gave him like truth serum
and asked him, he'd be pretty disappointed with how he
called the first two weeks compared to the last two
weeks in terms of aggressiveness.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Well, we certainly agree with that.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Listening to Broncos Country Night, Tim Jenkins joining us here,
certainly agree with that.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Love the fact that he was aggressive early in the
Tampa game.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
I didn't like, you know, because there was some aggression
later in the game and the in the first two games,
but it was when you needed it. You know, I
like being aggressive when you don't need it, you know,
keeping yourself unpredictable, keeping a defense off balance. So we
saw that early when when in that first drive against Tampa,
when Bonix was just going up up the field, they
were and we're talking about the shot play, they ran it.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I think twice that drive.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I you know, I think that they need to harness
that and be aggressive earlier.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
But what I haven't really seen any deep shots. We
talked about the shot play. I'm talking about just deep balls.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
You know, why aren't we getting Marvin Mims on the
field for the deep bot.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
We got Troy Franklin out there.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
It's just it's not you know, it hasn't been working
with him. We don't have a whole lot other speed.
Why aren't we getting Marvin Mims, you know, running deep,
just just getting that bang nine and put the ball
out there for him to go get.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Well. I mean, that's an interesting thing that you bring up,
because I do think the way they've got to the
deep shot really has been strictly one way, right, which
is Hey three by one and iolight Cortland backside right.
Like that's really you know, when you talk about throwing
driving the ball down the shield. That's kind of the
only way they've done it. I do think it's interesting
that we haven't seen some of those New Orleans staples

(11:36):
that we even saw last year with Russ, where we
haven't seen some of those New Orleans staples that that
Sean had with you know, he was kind of the
guy who invented Samurai, right, Like I feel like I
talked about all the time on the YouTube channel with
the deep post and the deep over, he kind of
invented that thing in New Orleans. Like I know he
really didn't, but he, you know, is the one that
ran it so much that it kind of took over
the NFL. So to me, it's like those are surprising.

(11:56):
I think we tried to see it that one play
where Bo's moving to his last and he ends up
checking it down. You know, if they can hold on
to protection there, I think they're trying to create something.
Personnel usage is a whole different discussion, and I think
who we decided to keep at certain positions. I think,
you know, Tim Patrick must have done something in the
Lion's game, because I saw Twitter blown up about Timmy p.

(12:19):
But I do think receiver is a position in which
I just don't know if ross or makeup is you know,
I don't know if we nailed it, that would be
my one thing, you know. And obviously everybody has criticisms
for every position and every team, but I do think,
you know, explosive place in the wide receiver group we've
been lacking and usage of those guys have been lacking.

(12:40):
Part of me it's like I do wonder, right because
and I'm sure you guys go through this too, where
you sit there and you go, man, I mean outside
looking in it, I can't, for the life of me
figure out why this kid isn't on the field right
the mems are doing some of these takeoffs. Part of
me wonders like what he is actually going because I
sit there and I'm like, man, are we just like that?
Are we just not comprehending the playbook at like to
that degree where we're not confident putting them on there?

(13:03):
Because to me, it's like, you know, shoot, I coached
second grade flag football for MAC and I sit there
and I laugh because it's like, you know, we got
some kids, obviously they're second graders, right, we can really
figure out how to tire shoes for sure. I don't
know all twenty eight plays that I hammer into Mac
Jenkins every night, but guess what, the dude knows the
two that he's got to go defunt right to me,
I'm like, man, if we can figure out that level,
I know Sean can, and you sit there and you

(13:24):
kind of those are the things that I do wonder
is what's going on in the building with situations like that,
because you would like to see them utilize some of
those personnel and listen, both can throw the heck out
of it right like we've seen him drive this thing
down the field, So I do think that would be
one way in which you're kind of dead on. It's
been disappointing, and we've really been simple and just being
three by one in the way in which we're going
to generate a shot play is really just backsied ice

(13:46):
lay with Portland.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Tim.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
We appreciate it as always, always love getting a chat
with you.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
Man.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's been too long. We got to get out there.
I got to get tuned up with the turkey ball, man.
I might need to have to rework my mechanics.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
We gotta get you dialed in. I appreciate you guys,
You guys have a great night.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Absolutely take care Tim Jenkins to give you whistbur T
Jenkins lead on on Twitter. Always loved breaking down the
tape with Tim. Looking forward to bringing him back and
get a chance to talk to him all this season.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Now the Rocky season's over, there's no excuse.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
PCT's on every night, started at six pm right here
on ko You guys should be tuned in.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
We already gave away the tickets today to Gerardo Cruz.
Gerardo Cruz won the U the Raiders tickets.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
But start tomorrow right here on KOA, we're giving away
Chargers Broncos tickets. So it's a steady stream. You always
want to always be even paying attention.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
You can win all sorts of free stuff, cool stuff
here right here on Kowa.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
We come back.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
We got the NFL six back right here, o Ka.

(15:08):
I had a whole lot of stuff going on here,
you know, at a wild into the Miami and Tennessee
game there with a declared on side that was waved
off as a fair catch after a safety which you
can totally do is a thing that we all knew.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Apparently, and somehow the Titans got the ball back for
whatever reason even though they goofed on that.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So anyway, guys starting tomorrow through eight pm next Monday
and are to win Chargers tickets and came away.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Here at Sporty Pickle.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
But with all Brad Dick Ferguson here enjoyed our time
here at the Sporty Pickle.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Tonight they get pickle ball still going on, the food
and drinks still flowing.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
So come on out, can I congratulations at Generald Cruz
who won the Raiders tickets earlier.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
With that, let's get to an NFL six pack. It's
time for the NFL six path.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I'm insight and insight information you can't find anywhere else
the top six NFL headlines.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
What well it?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
So?

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I've been twenty two days since the incident between Dolphins
receiver Tyreek Hill and Miami Dade police officers, and there's
still quote early in the process of determining what, if anything,
Hill should do about the situation. Via Safe Dean of
the USA today, Hill's lawyers remain in the quote, begating stages.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Of potentially pursuing legal action.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Hill's attorney Julius Collins told Dean that the lawyer's currently
submitting requests from public records the Miami Dade Police Department.
Colin said every legal remedy is on the table. He
told Dean, does he want police reform?

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Does he want this officer terminated? Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
We want to figure out if there's a systemic problem
within the MVPV as.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Far as how they police.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
The investigation also includes interviewing individuals who have had similar
experiences with Miami Dade officers. The end result could be
a federal civil lawsuit for a violation of Hill's civil rights.
The officer who escalated the situation, based on available body
camp footage, remains on administrative duties. On October eleventh, Hill
will plead not guilty to the citations he received that
day caroless driving in a seatbelt violation. That legal actions

(17:06):
minuscule compared to the one that could be coming. Would
your first action be to have that that officer fired?
That you know, with the Tyree kill situation, the officer
escalate the situation is the first thought for you to
get that officer fired.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
For me, I'm more about what is his record. If
this is a.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
One off, can we get some administrative action to kind
of correct that behavior or as they're trying to find
out is this something that's systemic.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
If this is repetitive behavior, I would say that the
officer needs to be relieved of his duties.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
If it was a one off.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
Now we're still talking about education, right how to bridge
that gap. But the one thing I do know, I've
been in situations like this before with officers, But if
it's a repeat of vendor and someone abusing their authority,
you can't allow this to continue in any police dept.
So that's the case that they find that is true. Yeah,

(18:02):
he needs to be reluding his dudish.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Next story, two forty nine Ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed
to what Matt Miaco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported
on his podcast that running back Christian McCaffrey has bilateral
Achilles tendonitis, which means Achilles ten and iights in both legs.
Forty nine Ers placed McCaffrey on the injury reserved September
fourteenth of a lingering calf injury and Achilles tendonitis. He

(18:26):
cannot return until at least week six, but it was
not public knowledge until today that is bilateral Achilles tendonitis.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Shannonan said during.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
The time, he's had it in both via David Bonio
of the forty nine ers web zone. I think it
started in one. You had to overcompensate. It went to
the other, but mainly one of them has just been
bothering m He's had it in both. McCaffrey, of course,
recently traveled to Germany for treatment. Shannan said on Monday
he's not spoken to McCaffrey about how he's feeling after treatment.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
The forty nine Ers.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Zero planned to ramp up McCaffrey's rehab this week after
he had two weeks of rest.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Is unknown when he will be able to return.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Guys, Christian McCaffrey having ten and lights in both legs
surprise you.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
No, it doesn't, because you look at the usage or
dare I say over usage of Christian McCaffrey dating back
to his Carolina Panthers days. And that's not to say
that Kristen can't come back from this, but you've seen.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
The emergence of Jordan Mason.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
So when Christian does come back lighting and low, all right,
give him a little time off and kind of split
those carries. But I can understand, you know, Kyle Shanahan's
point of view, because when you look at the San
Francisco forty nine er, since Christian McCaffrey has been there,
he's carried a heavy low. He's been a key, intricate
part of forty nine ers getting to where they need to.

(19:47):
And when you look at the Schneyhan offense, it starts
by running the ball to set up the pass. So
when he comes back, I wish him all the healthy
in the world. But when he does come back, the
ideas need to split carriages between he and Jordan Mason.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
I we'll see how that one shakes out.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
I think a lot of workload would do warders from McCaffrey,
and Mason has certainly shown that he's more than capable
of being able to dispel him in the meantime. Next
story three that Boys linebacker Micah Parsons has never missed
a game due to injury. The only game he missed
was his rookie season of twenty twenty one, when he
sat up the final game of the regular season with COVID.
Parsons has a high ankle sprain. While the Cowboys haven't

(20:23):
ruled him out for Sunday's game against the Steeler, and
yet the All Pro has acknowledged he might not play never,
Parsonson said via Patrick Walker the team website.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
Never.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
In my whole life, I've never missed a game.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
I've played hurt, played through pain, So to me, playing
through hurt isn't really the problem. Parsons is considered weak
to week, but has been wearing a boot and riding
a scooter as of today. It's just frustrating for real,
Parsons said, you put a lot of energy to getting
ready being out there for the team, so being out this.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Hurts me because I'm letting people down. I'm just letting
people down. I figured myself invincible for a while. I
also said it's humbling. It's part of the test I
was talking about. It's faith. Got to come back strong.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Parson says he wants to come back as quickly as possible,
but he also doesn't want it to Linger. Raiders edge
rusher Max Crosby tried to play through a high ekals
spring and end up missing this past Sunday's game against
the Browns after playing sixty one snaps. On Week three,
Cowboys played the Steelers and the Lions before their bye week.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Parsons said, I'm trying to shake back.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
I got in the office head athletic trainer Jim mar said,
you're probably not gonna be able to go against Steelers.
Probably makes sense to some to sit out after the
week off, but when you're a real competitor, like I said,
you only get seventeen chances at this and missing one
of those opportunities to perform at the highest level bothers me.
I feel like I want to play on Sunday. I
want to play. If I can play, I will play.
To me as long as I can run, move I

(21:36):
want to play. Sounds like one of those undrafted guys.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Huh, it sure does.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
But I would say show Michael Parson because he has
a long term effect on the ball club. Then being
short term, and here's a guy who wants ceedee Lamb
get paid. He watched Dak Prescott get paid and he
has yet to get his money. So until I get
my money, I'm just gonna sit here and relax. And

(22:04):
the high endle sprain. I don't know if you have
ever had one of those things, man, but it comes
all the way up your leg and this agonizing pain
and you just can't push through that with a little
medication In a couple of days off, so he should
sit down, let himself get healthy, even if that he
means that he sits out for two weeks, then come
back ready to play, because I mean, two weeks is

(22:25):
not gonna eliminate the Dallas Cowboys from the playoff rates.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
Let's be totally honest.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
I mean, they're still in the NFC East, where you know,
the Giants is still not playing well, so they still
have an opportunity.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
So rest, rest up well and come back stronger.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Absolutely. Next story.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Four Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed one thing that
is going to be on the team's to do list
during their bye week.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
The team has lost two straight games.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
That they led at halftime and then did not score
any points in the second half. Against either the Steelers
or the Chiefs, they gave up seventeen points in the
fourth quarters of those games. Arball said on Monday, the
team needs to find a way to save some of
their best for last.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Quote both last two games, two games we've lost.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
We haven't been our best the fourth quarter when our
best was needed, ar Ball said, via Chris Reem of ESPN.
Definitely stands out. That's definitely an area for us to attack.
Chargers allowed thirty three points and two losses, so their
defense has had them in a position to win both games.
Fixing whatever is causing the offensive roundouts will be the
key to not wasting any strong future efforts on the
other side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
But you say about the Chargers melting.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Down on the fourth quarter over the last two games
despite having second athletes.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Well, this is I guess familiar phrase that was Mitchem
and north Turner was there. The Chargers are going to chargeer.
This is what we anticipate from the Chargers doing. But
knowing as though Justin Herbert isn't one hundred percent, and
let's be totally honest, there's not a single player in
the league right now that's one hundred percent. But when
your quarterback is laboring, that makes things a little difficult.

(23:53):
But it goes back to the defensive side of the ball.
How well are you playing? Are you able to slow
teams down? Are you able to create turnovers? When you're
not able to do that, that makes things difficult on
your offense.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
But being a Bronco fan, I like what I'm saying, and.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I hope the tray continues fair enough, I uh Bronco
has played the charge. They've got the Raiders this week,
and then they've got the Chargers of course the week after.
Next story five, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is feeling
the after effects of a rough night against the Raiders
defense Raven's defense. Excuse me, it's nothing that looks like
it will impact his prep for.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
The team's Week five trip to Houston.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Head coach Sean mcdermot's Monday press conference began with a
question about injuries, with a specific mention of how Allen
is feeling after taking a big hit on an ill
fated trick play. McDermott said, Josh a sore, should be fine.
As we move forward here, continue to take it one
day at time. It should be fine, McDermott said. Safety
Taylor Raps on the concussion protocol. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir
will also take things a day to time after hurting

(24:48):
his ankle. Two things here, as if Josh Allen looked
to be pretty hurt on that trick play, and then
the other part of that, what in the world where
the Bill's doing On that trick play?

Speaker 2 (24:57):
You had an offense that was in rhythm. You took
him right out of them running a trick play. It
didn't seem to have anybody open. It got your quarterback hurt.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
But this is one of those times where you maybe
a little overly confident and now you want to try
something to trying to throw the opposing defense off, and
you get a little too sexy with it and your
quarterback gets injured.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
And once again, let's keep this in perspective.

Speaker 5 (25:21):
When we think about Josh Allen, we think about him
as a part time what I mean, part time quarterback,
part time running back. So it's up to Joe Brady
to make sure that you don't put your quarterback in
those situations where now he feels as though he has
oppressed and.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
He's trying to make plays.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah, it just I was watching. I was baffled.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
I was like, this was not the moment for the
trick play. This was the moment that you had the
offense and rhythm. This was the moment to hand off
the cook and keep keeping matriculating, moving the ball. Give
your defense a rest because they're having a struggle of
a time trying to stop Lamar Jackson, especially Derek Henry.
Next story six before the Browns lost to the Raiders
on Sunday. Multiple reports are running back Nick Chubb will

(26:01):
begin practicing with the Browns this Wednesday. At coach Kevin Stefans,
he confirmed that is the plan for Chubb to take
the next step in his return from last year's knee injury.
Chubb's on the physically unable to perform list, and his
return to practice, we'll kick off a three week window
for him to work with the team before reaching a
deadline to activate him. Stefanski did not speculate on how
close Chubb might be that final step, say, we won't

(26:23):
get too far down that road.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
He's working very hard.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Natural progression for him to start practicing. We'll see where
it goes from there. Browns are in Washington and Philadelphia the
next two weeks, and then they return home for a
divisional clash against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns have not
performed well at the quarterback position with the Shan Watson,
despite having traded big time draft picks and paid him
the largest contract in NFL history. Guaranteed, it'd be interesting

(26:47):
to see if Zach if Nick Chubb can add something
back to that offense. As far as the Browns goal
in your mind, would you pivot to Jameis Winston.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Know, I wouldn't do that rather too soon, and for me,
I would give it maybe one more game before I
consider it.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
And then once again, look at the coaching staff.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
Are they putting the plays and plays for Deshaun to
be effective? If they are and he's not really hitting
the mark, then that's problematic. But if you've told me
at the beginning of the season that you had Lamarin Cooper, Jerry,
Judy David and Joku and guys like that on that team,
that I would have figured as though that offense would
have been performing a lot better than.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
It has this far.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
But look, there's a lot of money invested into Deshaun Watson,
and not just money, but time, effort and everything else
that happened off the field. So you want to make
sure before you make this decision, Ben, that you have
exhausted every single thing before you make this decision, because
unless Jameis Winston comes in he gets hurt, You're not

(27:53):
going back to Deshaun Watson after you make that movie.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Well that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Once you pull the plug on Watson, you're not going back.
So you need to You're exactly right. I think that's
the thing with the Browns is you need to exhaust
every single option that you had, anything that you can
do to try to get that on track.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
And if you can't get it on track.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Well then then you eventually do have to pull the
plug for the for the sake of your team. I
the Browns have just looked like a disjointed team this year.
The offense does not like it's almost like Deshaun Watson
doesn't want to play football. Watching him play, it's just
it's just not there. I mean, you talk about a
guy who was lighting it up down there in Houston.
When Bill O'Brien was running things, he had Nuke Hopkins

(28:33):
to throw to. They were lighting it up down there,
and it just to me, it just doesn't look like
he's even interested in playing football anymore. Part of that
could be the time off, the rust whatever. Maybe this
offense just does not suit him. I don't know, but
it's it's been bad. Jerry Judy, by the.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Way, he was a little leading receiver this past week.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
Well, I would say this, While we could point to
things on the field being a distraction, there was I
think was a week or two weeks ago where there
was another person who said that they had some allegations
against him.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
I mean that could be a factor too.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
When when your career and your life is threatened in
that particular way, how many people will have an opportunity
to focus on their craft and to add to that.
Once again, this is where it's on the Browns coaching
staff to help get him together mentally, to kind of
settle him down with some very simple plays offensively, because

(29:26):
everyone is human, we all.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Impacted by a lot of different things.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
But you have to lean on your coaching staff in
situations like this.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
And right now, Shaun Watson and the Browns are in
the slump.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
They are, they really are, and you've got too talented
a team that they've built from the ground up. At
this point you start to wonder, because if Deshaun Watson
ends up having to go, do they make a change
at the head coach position?

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Do they make a change at the general manager?

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Because Andrew Barry and Kevin Stefanski, this thing that they
built is kind of their brain child. And while the
Browns are talented across the board, they've not been able
to get it over the finish line with Watson. You know,
you had I thought the coaching job last year with
something like five different quarterbacks was very well done. But
Andrew Barry traded all that away and gave all that
guaranteed money, you know, to Watson that you feel like it.
Sometimes there's got to be repercussions for that. However, we've

(30:16):
certainly seen George Payton has recovered from the Russell Wilson
trade here in Denver.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
Well, I mean, you look, you can't really fall Barry
for what he did. He was trying to do something
to rebuild that Brown's organization. And listen, if they ultimately
decide to part ways with both their GM and their
head coach, if this would be familiar territory, right, because
the Brown have historically done this particular move.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
So the idea may be to just.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
Kind of try to see if things work out, give
it one more week if it doesn't go with Jamison,
and hopefully that the chemistry would be there offensively and
it would change things. We've seen jameson coming into different places.
Think about his time in New Orleans, right, and the
depression wasn't on him. He was a backup guy coming
in and he made things happen. So that may be

(31:04):
the case for the Browns at this particular moment.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
But you can't.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
You shouldn't blow it up right away until you've exhausted everything,
because once you do, there's gonna be jobs on the line.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Yeah, and that's that's sort of the thing.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
It'll be an interesting watch as far as things go
this year to see, you know where that goes. There's
a couple of jobs. I mean, there's a couple of
guys on the hot seat right now. You got to
think the Jaguars with Doug Peterson, that situation.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Certainly looks like it will be. But uh, more time
for that down the line.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
