Speaker 1 (00:00):
Go out to the Kawakollas breath, I know, and bring
on Roby Bean from CBS.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Roby How you doing?

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Oh, you know what? How you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Doing pretty well? It was an interesting week for the
never Broncos.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
You picked up two w's, but maybe added more questions
than answers when it comes to quarterback bow Knicks, especially
in that snoozefest. There was the Thursday night football game
I was forced to sit through. As we look at
this thing and where it is with Kansas City coming
to town a week from yesterday, what is the confidence

(00:33):
level for you in both bow Knicks and this football team.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
You know, it's so interesting, Ben, because we're at such
an interesting place. It's in a long time since the
Broncos are eight and two, and yet you can send
that there's a very disgruntled fan base, and I guess
the luxury of a team having a winning record you
can pick up things more and feel I don't know
less that about it. It's a very interesting kind of

(00:58):
dichotomy that we've got going on. Even at the game,
which was very difficult to watch, but a lot of boots,
a lot of booze all day long. That Broncos Raiders game,
and I think that this game is so important for
both teams. It's going to be such a great game
because the Chiefs need it right, This has been a
long time since. The Chiefs almost need this win more

(01:18):
than the Broncos do. But at the same time, and
we know, we heard Sean Payton say you are what
your record says, and a lot of that is attributed
to the defense. But this feels like the confidence level
of the fan base and maybe even internally will skyrocket
with a win over the chief Maybe you come back
with again even more questions. I think SAMs would have

(01:40):
a lot of doubts about how the Broncos offense can
do in the playoffs if they struggle against Bags and
the chief defense. But this is one of those things
where I think for me, the concern, perhaps wise, is
that the problems you've seen all season long. We're now
ten games in and so you know, every week on Monday,
Sean on this conference, as you know, it's confident they

(02:01):
can fix this, this that and the other, this that
and the other. But we're seeing, you know, habitual patterns
at this point, and what feels like a game plan
that doesn't necessarily suit Bow as well as it should.
Maybe a lack of confidence that we're seeing from Bow
and things that everybody's talking about, the footwork, you know,
escaping the pocket a little too fast, things that ten

(02:22):
games in you're kind of hoping he'd get more settled
in and oh maybe that was just the beginning of
the season, but none of that has really resolved itself.
So I think that you come into this game everybody
is kind of hoping that it changes. It's going to change,
and it's going to you're going to see more consistency,
But it just it feels like there's a lot of

(02:43):
pieces to that and who's that false, Well, that's you know,
there's a lot of ways you could spend that one.
I think everybody has a little bit of a hand
in it. So, you know, I think you're just you're
still waiting to see the consistency, which you've yet to see.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Well, you mentioned a lot of booze writing down from
the crowd, but a lot of booze was also what
I needed to consume in order to watch that game
on Thursday. It was something else, and it did like
the fan base does seem a bit shaken all of
a sudden I think the more interesting thing is how
the national narrative immediately following that game the next morning, Uh,
the usual suspects who were calling bo Nicks and MVP

(03:19):
canded on Sunday were suddenly calling saying that Sean Payton
was potentially going to draft bo Nicks's successor this draft.
We seem to have come a long way from Sean
Payton up there smugly saying we just evaluate quarterbacks better
than anybody else.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, it seems like all of a sudden, this marriage,
which seemed like a match made in heaven and last
year every national analyst thing, but these guys are just
a perfect fit and Bonick couldn't have landed in a
better situation, And now it feels like it's a bit
of a bit of a strange marriage at this point.
And you know, is Sean Catery in the game plan

(03:56):
as best as he can for bo? I think, you know,
should he will find it a little bit And it
feels like that would be kind of the first obvious
answer is just just simply a little bit right. You
don't need so many personnel changes. But at the end
of the day, it is interesting as to your point,
the usual suspects who seem to have the ear you know,

(04:17):
of certain people. For that to be going makes you
wonder what's going on inside? Is there some tension? You know?
That's I think everyone seemed to kind of pick up
on it too. It didn't it felt a bit obvious,
which was interesting, right, And then it's one of those
situations where you know, I don't know, I think that's

(04:41):
all very interesting who it's coming from, what they're saying,
and you know, you get a big look, you get
a big win over Kansas City, all of a sudden,
everybody's good, everybody's gravy. But right now it does feel
like tensions are a little bit high. Four an eight
and two team.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
M h, Yeah, for a team that's tied for the
NFL lead, it certainly does feel like there's are we
even any good narrative going on with some of that stuff?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
How concerned are you about the injury to JK.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Dobbins.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I'm very concerned. I think that there's been obviously not
a ton of information. I'm very concerned about it. I
think that I'm concerned about the run game in general,
because they don't run the ball enough. No, that's another
story for another day. But I personally feel very uneasy

(05:30):
about what that could mean and how long he could
potentially be gone for, and then catapults R. J. Harvey
into a bigger role. But then you look beyond that
and you say, Okay, well, well who's beyond that Julie mcgoughlin,
who's been in purgatory. You know, I don't know who
he upset, but he's been in trouble. Right, He's been
healthy scratched for what nine of ten games? So what

(05:51):
does that look like? If JK is out for significant times,
He's out for the season. Whatever that looks like, it's
not I When you look at when we talk about
down the stretch and how key the run game could
be in the postseason, A lot of the Twitter doctors
seem to be really positive about it, so maybe I
should listen to them. I feel concerned about it.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, I would be, especially if esty miss like the
amount of time Kansas City coming to town. Of course,
the Broncos snapped a streak last year, although with a
bit of an asterisk as it came against Kansas City's
backups at the end of the season when they were resting.
People didn't really care how do we do it? How
do we feel going into this game? Because as I

(06:33):
look at this thing, Kansas City started to get rapped
up before getting their bucks kicked by Buffalo, and they're
just a confusing team. To me, it looks like all
the ingredients are there, but then at the same time
they lay inexplicable leggs when they shouldn't. And this Broncos
team has finded a way, you know, whether you want
to call it lucky, you want to call it whatever,
but they're finding ways this year.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Yeah, I think that you know, the Broncos in recent
years too, obviously, the one at the end of the last
season is you got to put an asterisk on it.
But they've played them well, They've played them tight, they've
played them close. I think that for Sean Dayton, this
is a very significant game for him. And you know,
it felt like, you know, she said he wanted to
make a statement in that Cowboys game. You know he

(07:12):
wants to make a statement in this game. And I
think internally in the locker room, you beat the Chief,
then you really believe about what you can do. And
everybody knows is they've always said that you know the
path or the af seed still goes to the Chiefs
until proven otherwise. So this is very much a proved game,
a confidence builder for the rest of the season game.
I think there's a lot of implications for the Broncos

(07:34):
that the Chiefs, as you mentioned, are very confusing, and
I think defensively this team has matched up really well
against them. But one thing that I feel like never
gets a ton of credit is Fagged in the Chief's defense.
And he's a great, great defensive coordinator and a lot
of the things that I'm sure that bo has really
struggled with this year. He is going to key it on.
So this is going to come down to another game

(07:56):
that you might just have to rely on your defense.
I know that people want to hear, but especially and
if you're missing a JK. Dobbins, I don't love that either,
And so I think Denver's defense is going to have
to come up really big in this.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
On Charlie with Roby Bean from CBS Today, Brian Dable
fired by the New York Giants. They would liketed to
keep Joe Shane for the time being, one of the
names associated with potentially the head coaching job in New York,
which appears to be centered around defensive candidates would be
Vance Joseph, who previously worked with Joe Shane when he
was in Miami. Davis Webb as a possible OC candidate,

(08:29):
of course, Web a former New York Giants cornerback. What
would be Would that be a huge deal for the
Broncos to lose Davis Webb and Vance Joseph this offseason
if that were to come.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
About, Yeah, I mean I think it wouldn't. I think VJ.
I think everybody realistically knows VJ was going to get
another head coaching opportunity, and I certainly think he deserves one.
His first time around here, I think there was a
lot of things that he didn't have control over and
he didn't really get a fair crack at it. So
for Vance, you know, I'd love for him to get
the opportunity to be a head coach again. I think

(09:00):
he has the luxury of being picky right He's got
this incredible defense right now that he can go when
he wants to go. He doesn't have to rush to
the first offer because he's in a good situation right
now with this unit and with everything that's going on.
But I think that I'm sure advance wants another opportunity
to prove himself as a head coach, and I think

(09:21):
personnel wise, this defense is so strong that you know
it wouldn't be a huge drop off without VJ. But
I think the way VJ just kind of let lets
him play almost almost wait, philips Esk's right, keeps it simple,
lets them play ball. It's significant and it would be
a huge loss. But I think at some point, whether
it be this offseason or the next VJ He's not

(09:42):
going to be an Orange of Blue for a tremendous
amount longer. I think Davis Webb is one of those
guys that I mean a lot of people wish he
was calling place here. He's going to get that opportunity.
He's young, but I think that's a realistic thing as well,
that neither of those guys probably will be here for extended,
extended years.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Roby Bean from CBS.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Of course, the CU Boffs took on West Virginia this
weekend was the debut of the starting debut for Julian Lewis.
I thought he acquitted himself pretty well as as a
true freshman quarterback starting his first game.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
On the road in West Virginia.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Ultimately, the bus did not win that game, but the
it's We've had a few you know, text messages of
people coming in that that were up and down about
the performance. I thought he did pretty good for a
true freshman his first.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Start on the road.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
You know, I was there and I loved what I
saw a couple of things. I think he's a real
cerebral quarterback, and he works from the neck up in
a lot of ways. The way he was so comfortable,
you know, manipulating the pocket. Obviously there are things you
got to work on. He kind of had the way
too many sacks and you know, sacks for incredible losses
of yards. But he's got just a great, you can

(10:51):
kind of head for the game. And for such a
young kid, I was really impressed. I mean, he can
sling it. He can really sling it the great you know,
pure passer. But his confidence just operating that offense and
the offensive line was abysmal. Abysmal for a young kid.
He was kind of in a situation you don't want
to be in where this line couldn't protect him for anything.

(11:13):
They did commit to the run and stick to the run,
which I was happy to see for him, but you know,
he just has the makings I think of a real quarterback.
It was interesting, you know. I had Charles Johnson DJ
on my show tonight and he was talking about, you know,
some especially in college, there's a lot of quarterbacks that
are athletes that you got to turn into quarterbacks. And
he said, from his perspective, he feels like Juju's a quarterback,

(11:37):
you know, almost even more so than the athletes. So
he's a quarterback first. And the other thing I got
to say is, you know, postgame, in his postgame pressor,
I was really impressed. I think this goes a long way.
All the things he just said, all the right things,
and for such a young kid, you know, all the things,
taking it on the chin, saying it's on me, it's
on me, you know, not making sure nothing's on his teammates,

(11:57):
talking about not going home for the bye week. He's
got sure, he said, I'm not even thinking about that, right,
I'm here to play ball. He just said all the
right things, which I know might not seem like a
big deal, but those are significant when you're the quarterback
and you're that young to already kind of have that
sense of how to be the leader of the team,
how to take the blame when you're the quarterback and
take the glory. And he just seems like he's got

(12:18):
the head for it.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Talker with Roby Bean from CS the Buffs two and
nine in their last eleven against Power four opponents. You know,
they've kind of quietly, I guess, demoted punt schrmer punted him.
If you will, back into not being the play caller.
They're going to have to figure something out going forward
on the offensive side of the ball. This would be
what the third or fourth you know, change that the

(12:41):
coach Prova has made since he's been here. Do we
expect Byron left which to take over next year? They
got to go outside. They're going to keep the guy
that they've got now, who was one year of the
play color down there at Jackson State.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Like, what do we know about that situation?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah, you know, I've heard rumblings about Byron, but there's
really nothing kind of firms here nor there with that.
But you know, I think the challenge that that Dean
Sanders has is a lot of these guys when when
they get the head coaching opportunity, let's say advanced Joseph
He's got a list of everybody he's worked with, three
deep at at each you know, coaching position. So you know,

(13:16):
Prime comes in and didn't have as much experience. So
a lot of these coordinators, like a Robert Livingston, is
someone who was recommended to him as opposed to I
worked with this guy for five years.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
I worked with this guy for five years.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
You know what I'm saying. And so I think that
a lot of it's been a little trial and error,
and you know, bringing in former players that he plays
with is one thing, but in regards to like a
big coaching tree, there's less experience there. And I think
that's why we've seen a lot of trial and error
and a good amount of error, and so it becomes
you know, relying again on the people, you know, in

(13:51):
some of the recommendations that you're going to kind of
bring in somebody externally. I think there are some people
who would really like to see Byron left which get
that opportunity. But you know, nonetheless, you got to hit right.
You got to hit right because hope is kind of
renewed now with Juju, there was an uplift in the
fan base kind of in the program that oh this
could really go somewhere, and so you got to put

(14:12):
him in the right situation to succeed. And it's important
for recruits too to see who you bring in. So
it's going to be really maybe one of the biggest
decisions of his tenure this far.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Roby Bean from CBS or Robbie, are they going to
be able to keep Juju?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Like that?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Is that seems to be the question at this point.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, I mean that that is the question right and
after the game, Juju, you know, made it seem like
he's here and he's here to stay. But honestly, in
this day and age of the transporter, like you just
don't know, like I don't know, I have genuinely no idea,
but you hope that he stays because it certainly could
change the trajectory of the recruits you bring in and
do a lot for the program now season.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, that's true, Robbie.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
I appreciate the time as always and look forward to
catching up with you here hopefully during your Kansas City
I mean dry A Bronco's w over Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
I should say, oh, no, I like it. There you go.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Appreciate you, uh as I always look forward to talk to
you gnsum.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Robyvian from CBS. Oh did you tip your hand there?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Well, I'm trying to reverse Jinx has always Oh okay,
now I met a W against Kansas City like I
just yeah, I I farted one out there.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Uh do you think? What do you think? Do you
think the Buffs are gonna be able to keep juju Ik?

Speaker 3 (15:30):
So?

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I do.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I think they'll have to pony up some additional money.
And if I were you know, if I were him,
that's exactly what I would do, is make am pony
up with some additional money and make them promise me
whoever the OC was going to be that kind of thing,
I would have a say in that. I like the
Byron Leftwich idea, Well that's I'm saying. I mean, he's
been an NFL off, it's a coordinator, work with Tom
Brady before. That feels like the natural thing to do,

(15:53):
and just move on from Pat Shermer, who's you know,
been a boat anchor on the Ferrari since he's been there.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
And could be a succession as a head coach, you know,
whenever Dion's ready to wrap things up, if it goes well,
I mean, Byron Leftwich has shown that he wants the
opportunity to be a head coach somewhere before came.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Very close to getting the Jacksonville job before Doug Peterson. Yeah,
so that could work out. Well, Yeah that it blew
up in his face when he tried to tell them
they need to move on from Trent Balkey and that
he wanted his guy in there. Well, Balky rested power
away and managed to get Doug Peterson in there, and
there you go. Now Balky's gone and Iron left, which

(16:29):
is here. It's funny o those things work out. We
come back, We get the NFL six back right here.
Okaywa thanks to Broi b for joining us in the
last segment. Park Gabriel joined us in the last hour,
and Ryan Michael of course joining us in the first hour.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
And there's to be part of any of that.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
You can go to Broacast Country Night dot com, slash
podcast or which podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify, the free and
redesigned I Heart Radio app now it did where you
can peruse that you're taking it for granted podcast archives
and try to shame him into doing.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
New episodes as well. People still listening, Thank you if
you are one of them.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
That's just me on repeat one day. Oh my goodness,
one of these days I'll shave you into doing you
tow episode.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
We'll see, We'll see. Let's get to the FA six pack.
It's time for the NFL six pad.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
I'm going to trink a lot hear insight and insight
information you can't find anywhere else. No.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Six the Top six NFL headlines on.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Paul tag Laboo, former NFL commissioner and member of the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Centennial Class, has passed away
at the age of eighty four. He became the NFL
commissioner in nineteen eighty nine and was the seventh full
time commissioner of the NFL. He was voted to succeed
Pete Rosel and after seventeen years, was followed by Roger Goodell.

(17:48):
In between, tag Leabou navigated the NFL through the expansion
from twenty eight to thirty two teams six divisions to eight,
threw the game globally, achieved labor piece, established league's own
website and TV network, and navigated it through the tragedies
of Hurricane Katrina and nine to eleven. Once the league's attorney,
Tagliabu left an undeniable mark overseeing the NFL and became

(18:11):
the fifth chief executive of the league elected to the
Pro Football Hall of Fame. He died on Sunday, as
I said, at the age of eighty four, and Roger Goodell,
the current NFL Commissioner, had some comments on Paul. He said,
all of us in the deep NFL are deeply saddened
by the passing of Paul Tagliabu, whose principled leadership and
vision put the NFL on the path to unparalleled success.

(18:34):
He went on to say, throughout his decades long leadership
on behalf of the NFL versus outside council, and then
during a powerful seventeen year tenure as commissioner, Paul served
with integrity, passion, and an unwavering conviction to do what
was best for the league. Paul was the ultimate steward
of the game. Paul and stature, humble in presence, and
decisive in his loyalty to the NFL. What is your

(18:58):
lasting memory of Paul taglia Aboo as commissioner of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Well, he was single handedly responsible for the most awkward
transition in radio when on Sunday, as the news broke
and I had Ryan Edwards on the Fantasy Show. I
was talking about Paul Tagliboo and then I said, speaking
of dead my fantasy team's fantasy chances for the championship,
and it was.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Uh, yeah, it was not that.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
My penchant for dark humor may have gone a little
overboard there. As for the rest of it, I think
it's interesting because tagli Boo kind of got run out
because of the sort of lawlessness that was going around
at the time. Roger Goodell was going to commit to
be Sheriff Rodge. He was going to crack the whip.
He was going to clamp down on the discipline where
all these players run amok.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Uh and it nearly did.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Roger Goodellen actually yeah, you know, he ended up backing
off a lot of He used to have commissioner purview
over all.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
The punishments and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
It used to be solely and and all that sort
of changed and said a lot of people I think
forgotten about all of that. But when guys like Chris
Henry were running a mock in the league and and
you know, all those kind of discipline problems, the Roethlisberger stuff,
and in the end it turned out to be, you know,
just whatever I would say. Goodell's lasting legacy is going
to be how much he grew the game in terms
of revenue. Tag LaVoo, I think brought football from a

(20:07):
sport in America to the sport in America and is
largely responsible for that.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Two.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
As we mentioned earlier, Brian day Ball.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Out as the Giants head coach, and he was the
Bill's offensive coordinator from twenty eighteen to twenty twenty one
under Sean McDermott. And Sean McDermott was asked about a
possible reunion with day Ball today, McDermott said, I understand
why you're asking that. At this point, not any consideration

(20:37):
for that. The Bills ranked second in total offense, including
first and rushing and six and scoring. Yet some Bills
fans are unhappy with offensive coordinator Joe Brady, especially after
their team only scored thirteen points.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
In that loss to the Dolphins.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
On Sunday, McDermott answered yes when asked if he is
committed to Brady for the rest of the season. He
went on to say, Joe as a good coach, she
really is. We've got a really good offensive staff. They've
had really good games. You're going to have some games
you want back, some play calls you want back. Those happen,
so it's how you respond to them. I'm fully confident
in our offensive staff and Joe is our leader, will

(21:14):
make the adjustments we need to make and move us forward.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
We've seen the Bills make some.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Offensive changes to their staff in season before. Do you
think there's any fire to this of day Ball being
reunited with the Bills as the offensive coordinator this season,
or if you said, like you said earlier, if he
leaves Joe Brady that is for the LSU job. Could
we see a reunion next year in Buffalo?

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Possibly, although I think he has a site set on
something else. First, we'll see. I would suggest that he'll
be in play as an offensive coordinator for a number
of different teams. We won't get a head coaching gig
this cycle. He'll go back to being an offensive coordinator first,
but you'll probably be back as as a head coach
sooner than later. Keep your eye out downther in Arizona
if they make a change, Brian Dable might be down

(22:01):
there as the offensive coordinator. Something to keep your eye on.
There's a couple other places that that that could come up.
I don't think he'll. I think Buffalo is the parachute,
not the goal.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Okay, follow up to the Giants head coaching search. What
names are you seeing for that and were you surprised
that Mike Kafko was the intrum head coach.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Not surprised at all.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Kafka is going to be trying to demonstrate for teams
like Tennessee that he, you know, that he can do
the job. Some of the names that will be out there,
Lounarumo we'll get We'll get an interview. Vans Joseph will
probably get an interview with Davis Webb would be would
be his OC in that scenario. Web of course, a
former quarterback with the New York Giants. Vas Joseph has
worked with Joshane before in Miami, as has louon Arumo.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
You can see mostly defensive names in this.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
As a matter of fact, Antonio Pierce will probably get
an interview as well. Believe it or not, applied for
the Giants, he will probably get an interview as well.
So there's there's gonna be I think you're you're probably
looking at, you know, at names like that. You'd probably
be a defensive guy with uh, you know, whoever can
sell them on a strong oc you know, quarterback developer
that's not going to get Jackson Dart hit as much.

(23:08):
That's the thing about Brian daviles offense is that it's
designed for somebody who's built like Cam Newton, and you
know that doesn't really work, just that just doesn't really
exist outside of those two guys. So you know that
that's one of those things that I think at the
end of the day that that sort of did him
in is the reason that he had Dart running so much,
you know, and that styles already you know, a chance

(23:28):
to get him injured, and we saw what happened. He's
in the concussion protocol, so that that's a.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Part of the reason.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Brian Dabble was like, maybe good for your bet with
sax Seekers, Maybe I need three touchdowns out of us,
that's all right.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Yeah, he has been bad.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
I tried to be a be a fan of Justin Fields,
but he has not looked good this year. Forty nine
Ers head coach Kyle Shanahan's Monday injury update featured some
optimism about wide receiver Ricky Piersall. Peer saw has been
out with a knee injury for the last six games,
but Shanahan told reporters on a conference call that the
team is hopeful that Peer Saw will practice on Wednesday.

(24:03):
He has twenty catches for three hundred and twenty seven
yards in the first four weeks of the season.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Shanahan did not have.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Any positive changes to report about wide out Brandon Ayuk.
I've had him on my pupp list all year on
my fantasy team. He remains on the physically unable to
perform lists as a result of last season's knee injury,
and Shanahan said he will not return to practice ahead
of the team's Week eleven game against the Cardinals. Shanahan
said on Sunday that there's hope quarterback Brock Perdy he

(24:32):
will play this week and didn't offer any further update
on his condition Monday. What are you hearing about piersall
Ayyuk and Brock Pardy right now?

Speaker 1 (24:42):
They've kept Party on the pine because Mac Jones is
more or less Mick Jones more or less getting it done,
and they need to make a decision. They need to
know if Mac Jones is the guy going forward, if
they need to jettison Party. This all season or not,
And so they need to make a decision between those
two and go the financially committed to party. But you
could get cheaper with the you know, with mac Jones,

(25:04):
and then turn around and have money to go get
other pieces.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
And they've had a.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Horrible run of injury luck as far as that kind
of stuff goes. Pearcell is supposed to be back, right
I don't believe it's close to coming back, honestly, gonna
play this year. I would be surprised if he's there
in San Francisco next year, just being honest with you.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
That situation has always.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Been tenuous and then they wound up paying him and
then you know, anyway, So we'll see how that goes.
But as it sits right now, they're kind of trying
to figure out next year in this in this scenario,
within the confines of trying to win this year as well.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Where do you think brock Purdy would land if the
forty nine ers decided.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
To move on from New York with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
With the Jets, Kyler Murray I think would be the
guy there. But I think if they have the opportunity
to get Party, they would shift to that and.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
You think Kyler Murray is not going to start again
this year for the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
He won't be for the next three games for sure.
After that, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Good week for him to get put on the IR
with a new Call of Duty game. I just say,
look timing everything.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Four.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
Doran Payne will appeal has one game suspension for punching
Aman Ross Saint Brown. I'm sure you saw this in
the game. And now the rain and Spain. I love
this headline. The rain in Spain may or may not
fall on Doron Pain. The Commander's defensive tackle, will appeal
his one game suspension for punching the aforementioned a'm on
Ross Saint Brown. With the Commander's playing in Madrid on Sunday,

(26:26):
he won't be able to make the trip unless he prevails.
It's been a mixed bag this year for suspended players.
Line safety Brian Brian Branch's one game suspension for hitting
Chiefs receiver Juju Smith Schuster after a Week five game
was upheld. One game suspension imposed on Broncos linebacker Dery
Greenlaw for accosting a referee Brad Allen, and we know

(26:46):
what he said after a Week seven win, over the
Giants also was upheld. More recently, the one game suspension
of Commander's linebacker Frankie Luvu for his third hip DROC
tackle of the season was modified to a one hundred
thousand dollar fine.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Of course, the season began with.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
The spitting incident of Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter for
a one game suspension on Dak Prescott. Carter did not
appeal that. Payne was also ejected in the game. Do
you think his suspension will be upheld?

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yes, it will absolutely be upheld. He will stay suspended.
He throw a right cross and I'm on, he is
getting upon staying suspended. There is I don't even know
why you're appealing this, like it's ludicrous to try and
appeal this absolutely ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
And the Commanders, you know, they've.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Been The defense has been bad this year, but also undisciplined,
uncharacteristic of dan quin Tea, which is probably why dan
Quinn is taking back over the defensive coordinator duties and
moved you'll wit onto just being an advisor and you know,
and moving back up into the box. But dan Quinn
taking over the defense. Overall, it's it's been a bad year.
For Washington. We knew a little bit of regression that
were due for based on the luck they had last year,

(27:52):
but this has been awful.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Yeah, I am with the injury to Jaydon Daniels. Do
you think Jayden Daniels will be back when the Broncos
play him.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
They're trying, They're trying for that. Yeah, well all the more.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Next week we also saw Dan Campbell take over the
play calling duties on offenses.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
John Morton Zer, I try to tell people, like when
he was jumping ship and getting out of here with
a couple of the other coaches.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I try to tell people like, get that's not gonna
last very long. I've seen him coup plays before us.
This said gonna last five.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Well, speaking of things not lasting any longer, the Dolphins
have parted ways with co directors of player personnel Adam
Ingraff and Anthony Hunt. Both men remain listed on the
team's official website, but after the Dolphins drubbed the Bills
thirty to thirteen, the team's parted ways with both of them.
Hunt had worked for the Dolphins since nineteen ninety four.

(28:38):
Ingroff had been employed by the team since nineteen ninety nine.
This is ten days after the Dolphins fired GM Chris
Greer and seemed to revitalize the Dolphins team. Greer was
an employee of the franchise since two thousand. Champ Kelly
is now the interim general manager. Coach Mike McDaniel will
reportedly finish the season and with more games like Sunday's

(28:59):
win over the Bills, he could be sticking around for
twenty twenty six and partnership with a new GM. Were
you surprised with the Dolphins partying ways with Adam Ingraff
and Anthony Hunt and who do you think will be
the next GM in Miami?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yes, and no on the surprise, I mean, this is
a weird time to do that because this is the
middle of scouting season, right so you're you're blowing that out.
But those guys' positions were redundant, they've been and basically
they're blowing out the culture guys, the people who have
been in Miami for a long time and have been
entrenched and that losing culture. They're blowing those guys out
as it sits right now. If you're going to do
that in the middle of the season, that suggests to

(29:34):
me that you've already got your eye on a replacement
and know who that is. And in this particular case,
they haven't interviewed anybody, so that would suggest that would
be Champ Kelly, the interim general manager who near nearly
got the Raiders' job or nearly got the Broncos job.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
He's you know, he's been a.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Guy who's been in contention for several general managerships and
just not quite landed to play. Maybe Miami is where
he ultimately does that. Very you know, very smart football guy.
I'm rooting for him. I don't know that Mike and
Daniel be there beyond this year eat away, but we'll
see six.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
In a non football story, major sports books limit pitch
by pitch bets and baseball to two hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Sportsbooks usually aren't.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
In the business of reducing the amount of business they
can handle. In the aftermath of Sunday's federal indictment of
two Cleveland Guardians pitchers micro wagers for manipulating pitches, some
sportsbooks are taking proactive steps to stave off a potential
reactive goring of the Golden goose. This is via David
Purdam of ESPN dot com. Prominent sportsbooks will place a

(30:36):
nationwide two hundred dollars betting limit on baseball wagers based
on individual pitches. Such prop bets also will be excluded
from the extremely multi leg parlays. The goal is to
reduce the incentive for manipulation of the wagers by players.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
It's a simple concept.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
If the easy money that can be made by rigging
such bets is drastically limited, gamblers hoping to acquire and
edge will be less inclined to offer easy money to
those who can rig them, even if there's no such
thing as easy money, especially for the folks who will
end up going to.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Prison for their pursuit of it.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
DraftKings and FanDuel the Coke and Pepsi of American sports betting.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
I've agreed to the caps.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
It's unclear whether and to what extent other sports books will.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
What do you make of this story coming out of
baseball stupid and it doesn't solve the problem?

Speaker 1 (31:25):
It seems like it does on the surface, but it
really doesn't. The reality is you got to quit capping
winning betters down to like ten cents on the dollar
and while exploiting losing betters, and even the out if
you allow winning betters to have it and you know,
an ex multiplier and a shot at getting their kinds
of bets in, then.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Then they're gonna be you know, they're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
What you're gonna see out of this is you're gonna
see either people either parlay those things together and now
you'll have you know, you have players out there missing
those three things or whatever, or you have them throwing games,
you know, whatever, whatever the case, maybe that you've got
a mechanism.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
In a place that's catching these guys.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
You don't need to you don't need to mess over
the betters are betting on things. What you need to
do is come down hard on the people that are
doing it.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
You know it.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
If people are doing it, then the penalty for getting
caught isn't stiff enough, right, And I apply that across
the board, not just to gambling, but that applies across
the board to any law that's out there.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
On the land.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
If the if the penalty and the enforcement mechanism for
stealing cars isn't you know, if the cars are still
being stolen, then the discouragement or the punishment is not
strong enough, and you got to find something that will
that will discourage people from doing that. And that's the
way to do it, is through the punishment mechanism for
doing wrong, not the people who are out here trying
to do things right and can only bet two hundred
bucks now on you know, on a prop bed because

(32:37):
you know it, which again helps the books, right, you
know that favors the books. So you know, at the
end of the day, it's it's it's just silly. You know,
these air quote solutions they come up with aren't real solutions.
They sound like they are until you you know, you
bother to look at the math on them.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
I appreciate you guys. Uh, get along for the six pack.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
There get a more Broncos country tonight.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Right for this? Yeah, it's pretty simple. I win.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Google me gambling problem caller text one eight hundred gambler,
you know, part one out

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
