Speaker 1 (00:00):
Need a debate during the break there between Nick Ferguson
and Zack Seekers back.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
There behind the glass.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Listen, man, I'm just saying, when it comes to Bow
Nicks and a lot of this heated discussion of what
this young guy isn't.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
I just have my opinion, and.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Great, you and I may have somebeill cast something by
accident when we look at why is Bow not constantly
under center like he should have set up plays?

Speaker 4 (00:33):
And I'm thinking, well, could it be that playing on
the center, would.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
It explodes deficiencies and Bowl's footwork?

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Maybe? But here's what I do know.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Putting your quarterback under center will work on the timing
and the rhythm of plays and the spacing because sitting
in the shotgun already sitting in the five to seventh
step drop is a lot different than being under center
and being asked to drop five to seven steps.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
That five step drop.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Get on your back foot literally all forward on a
timing route with your wide receiver. Who's where you're supposed
to be? Yes, and I be a sight to see
him broncos Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Jong Seekers was saying, well, both can't even seeker routes.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
I'm like, come on, don't I'm saying he struggled to
read them out, and I stand on that.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
He's peace pool Man, it's been rough. It's been rough.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
You know what I will And you said, you say
Tim Jenkins had this play, right, I'll send it to
you right now, Send it to me because I want
to look at the play because there are so many
dynamics that go into a play actually being successful run
a pass. And the way that I explained it to
people was first getting the call, disseminating the call. How

(01:47):
much time do I have to look at the defense,
break it down and see where I want to go,
identify my matchups right? And then all of a sudden, too,
are my guys running routes to win their routes because
you know where you are in the progression if you
are number one, number two, or number three.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Maybe if you're number three guy, you may not be.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Thinking I'm going to get the ball because I'm the
third guy in the progression.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
We've seen guys quit on their routes already this year,
that's right, We've seen it.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Hell, we've seen Marvin MAM's catch a pass that was
designed to go.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
To credits and because he turned around, yep, right.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So, so we don't know where guys are in the progression.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Well, I know where we are in the progression of
the show. We need to head out to the koa
Common Spirit health hotline and bring on our girl, Brie
mastis one of our favorites here on Broncos Country tonight, Bre,
How are you this evening?

Speaker 6 (02:39):
Gentlemen?

Speaker 7 (02:40):
What did I walk into this evening?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
There is I wouldn't say in fighting necessarily, but.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
It is in fighting.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
You walked into a Hord's mess.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
Fine, I'll put the boxing gloves on, let's go. What
are we fighting about?

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Well, young seegers and I were having a gent men's
discussion about one bone Nick. So I'll ask you, from
what you've seen of bo Nicks, what do you think
about his love of production? But more importantly, what do
you think his major issues are?

Speaker 7 (03:14):
Well, you went into this season hoping there was a
lot of optimism. Right, There was a full off season under.

Speaker 6 (03:21):
Sean Payton's system, there was familiarity. It looked like bo
Nix was finding a lot of comfort, and he was
being well regarded both nationally and within the organization. Sean
Payton was very complimentary. And then you've got this idea,
and what you're seeing play out right now is the
offense really is not holding up their ends of bargain.
I think that there is an argument that can be

(03:42):
had that we've seen some regression and a lot of
what Nix was successful with, but a lot of it
comes down to and I don't know who's arguing on
which side. I'm not taking sides on this, but there
is foundational issues with bo Nix, and I've come to
kind of the assumption until we've heard otherwise, that is
a pretty cerebral individual. I think that there's a lot

(04:04):
of overthinking. I think there's too much time to make
these mistakes. The offense is not going up tempo enough
to allow for that instinctual connection to happen. Because I
like what Sean Payton has said publicly about resisting putting
that growth meter on Knicks each week. I think it's
really important not to do that.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
But what we find ourselves, both.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
As analysts and fans and everywhere in between, is this
idea that you want to see this exponential growth. Now,
we saw that payoff in the last half of the
season last year, but now you're seeing a.

Speaker 7 (04:39):
Lot of those same problems.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Really reintegrate themselves and sort of throw these these.

Speaker 7 (04:44):
I would call them orange flags at this time, but
that sounds a little too positive. At this point, I'm.

Speaker 6 (04:49):
Worried that it's a plateau and it's not progressing forward.
But I think there's multiple hands in this kitchen that
are creating this backlog because I I think Nix and
Peyton should have a better connection. I think there should
be fewer negative plays. I think Peyton's offense needs to
unlock a little bit. But I think there's just this

(05:09):
perfect storm of it's not hitting yet, it's not firing
on all cylinders. I'm worried a lot of it has
to do with these individual parties trying to bring too
much of themselves to the plate instead of trying to
make this beautiful concoction that will carry them through the
second half of the season. If we could name it
right now, guys, if we could.

Speaker 7 (05:27):
Say this is the problem and this is how you
solve it, I think the Broncos, Sean Payton, and bo.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
Nicks would have already done that. I think there's just
a lot of things handcuffing this offense. That includes now
you know, ramping up the injuries, the run game not
taking off of the way that it should. You need
to take the pressure off of b Nix's shoulders in
order for what he does well to continue to flourish.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Talking with bre Masis here on Broncos Country and I Breathe,
a host of Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in the
Broncos podcasts, you talked about the optimism level going into
the season. Then also in that last answer you mentioned
the lack of the running game and some key injuries
for this Broncos team.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Of course, we know JK.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Dobbin's going to be out this Sunday as well as
Alex Singleton. How optimistic are you feeling about this game
against the Chiefs at empower Field at Mile High this weekend.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Well, if we're talking about perfect combinations and the concoctions
that go into the Mile High magic, you're taking a
Kansas City Chiefs team that in the past has seemed
like an overcoming monster that is just breathing down your neck.
And now the Broncos are on a seven game.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
Win streak, they're eight and two. They have a huge
opportunity in this game to solidify, you know, a huge
deficit for the Chiefs Steven had a chance the top
AFC West plus this is the top AFC. I've been
tweeting about it a lot because I think there's a
whole lot of optimism that allows people then to go,

(06:48):
what if they don't show up in the moment. This
matchup against the Chiefs allows the Broncos to play up.
They get to take a step up rise to the occasion.
I think Bonix has the propensity to succeed under pressure.
Even though we were talking about maybe alleviating some of
that on the field, I think the threebleness and.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
The thought process here is you got to.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
Dig really deep. This team is already doing a fantastic
job on the defense, showing up through the adversity of
having to overcome what the offense can't get done, and
then you're able to really play up to your competition. Now,
when we say that about the Chiefs this year, they're struggling.
They are in this disadvantage to this Broncos team because

(07:35):
they've been struggling so much to really get back to where.

Speaker 7 (07:39):
They've been in the past seasons.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
And that's a weird circumstance for Patrick Mahomes and Andy
Ree combination because they're.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
Going to be backed into a corner.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
They need this.

Speaker 7 (07:47):
Win more than the Broncos do.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
And I think that's what makes it fun in the
emphasis that you can use this top tier defense to
unsettle an offense that is going to be cliing, you know,
scratching and clying and trying to climb to the top
to score more points than the other. It's going to
be gritty, and it's going to start up front, which
I think.

Speaker 7 (08:06):
Is just going to bode well for this Denver Broncos team.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
That is built so cohesively and solidly through the trenches.
It's going to allow you know, uh, maybe it doesn't
have to be a chess match per se. It can
be very gritty, and it can be very physical, and
it can be a defense overwhelming an offense that is
really finding themselves out of sorts.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Brie, this defense has been performing at a high level
off season long with defense mcgiver. Thank you the mcgiver
defense on the significant amount of pressure on Sunday. Obviously
a huge task against Patrick Mahomes and the cancer the Chiefs,
even though the Chiefs are five and four. What are

(08:49):
you looking for the Broncos defense to actually do in
the game on Sunday. I mean it could be an
individual performance or it could be a group type performance
both what would make you satisfied? Because I know you're
going to be in the stands and you're going to
be rooting your hand of Well, what is it you
want to see from this Broncos defense on Sunday?

Speaker 6 (09:11):
Well, I think that you have to be dominant, and
the Broncos defense has already done that. But I think
you have to leave no doubt. There can't be any.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
More question marks of is this the best defense?

Speaker 6 (09:23):
I mean since we've seen since twenty sixteen? But why
is it not just these numbers that keep surmounting?

Speaker 8 (09:30):
Right?

Speaker 6 (09:30):
The Broncos lead the league in facts at forty six.
Patrick Mahomes has been fact ten times over the last
four games. I'm hoping for that total to really climb
up this Sunday. And then what it tells you is
that opponents are having a hard time moving the chains.
They're having a really difficult time scoring and escaping pressure.
That's the homework of an elite defense. And what this

(09:51):
Denver Broncos defense.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
Does well is the pass rush and the disruption quarterback.
So I think this defense really needs to.

Speaker 6 (09:59):
Face their identity of consistently forcing those issues. The hurry
throws the sacs, creating mistakes, fluctuating that momentum, because.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
I mean, we could talk at nauseum about.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Nick Benito and Jonathan Cooper and just the combination of
edge rushers edge rushers there, But for.

Speaker 7 (10:16):
Instance, you have an.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Entire line that is fully capable of causing the.

Speaker 7 (10:21):
Amount of disruption needed to really go a long.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
Way towards elevating the defense from very good to formidable
to absolutely lights out. And I think that is going
to be the conversation moving forward, because obviously the offense
needs to play better, they need to match that intensity.
But defense wins championships, and this defense is one.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
That truly is special.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
And as far as individual performances go, whoever puts Patrick
Mahomes into the grass that is the star, breakout player.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Of the game.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
And I hope it happens many times.

Speaker 7 (10:52):
On Sunday Taga with.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Bre Masas on Broncos Country and I switching gears here
for just a second. We have yet to mention tonight,
Nikolay Jokic last night dropping a double nickel fifty five points.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I know you're a huge Nuggets fan.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yokicchen his last three games one hundred and twenty two points,
forty four of fifty six from the field for a
seventy nine percent field goal percentage. How lucky are we
to watch Jokic's brilliance here in Denver as Nuggets fans?
And what have what have been your thoughts on the
season so far?

Speaker 6 (11:22):
You know, I am always kind of slow on the
uptake of trying to pour into the Nuggets, but it's
really hard when they're this quick off the start, I mean,
right out of the gates. Nicole Jokic the master class
that is a fifty five point masterpiece, and then the
Knights topping it off by actually winning the game right
like he wasn't in there trying to catch up and

(11:42):
make up a deficit. They were dominant, and it was very.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
Exciting but also enticing in the idea of what did
the Nuggets do.

Speaker 6 (11:50):
To fully prepare this?

Speaker 7 (11:51):
They didn't want to waste the prime.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
That is Yokic's career, because as we sit here as fans,
and as we sit here as we talk about this team,
this is something that will be remembering for decades to come.
And I think the Nuggets.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
Are in an incredibly strong place right now, and you
can still fill the remnants.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Right of the championship team. Colorado Sports are thriving.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
And I think it marks something very significant.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
The energy is trending upwards. They've made the right moves
to create that strong depth along the bench where Jokic
can rest and still put it out and average a
triple double at this point in the season. To me,
I think that kind of performance is sensational. It's a statement.
And what's funny to me is that we'll still hear

(12:34):
the national bulking talking heads of.

Speaker 7 (12:38):
Yeah, you know, but there's so many other MVP caliber.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
No, the baseline is super clear here. It's high level
execution from the Nuggets. You've got key players performing at peak.
Jamal Murray's coming and ready to play day one, and
I think the energy just feels different. There's that leadership
and continuity without theman, and you've just got the expectation
and the culture of winning and digging in and performing

(13:04):
to have this solid season going forward. So I'd like
to see that aligning. And you know, you can't win all.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Eighty two games, but you can sure make it interesting.
As they have this very hot start really quickly.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
We got about a minute left with you, Brie Rich
George kind of steps aside at CU.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
When you first heard that, what was the first thing
that came to mind?

Speaker 6 (13:29):
You know, it was really shocking. I got the email
two minutes faster. It had ended up in my inbox,
and it begs.

Speaker 7 (13:37):
The question of why are there signs that Rick George.

Speaker 6 (13:41):
Was going to step out of the way here and
move on. I mean, he made the huge, you know,
era defining decision to bring in a coach prime, and
I think that it has changed the state of not
only Colorado Athletics, Colorado football, the Buffalo's the just the
when you think of CEU in general, and I think

(14:02):
that you want to go out on top. You're not
leaving the institution. You're not leaving the university. You're simply
making way for this new era that you were really
a part of. You created that directional shift, and I
think he was an absolute transformational for you're in Boulder,
bringing in a ton of resources and money and shifting

(14:23):
the conferences, and that move shakes the foundation going forward,
but it introduces a period of change. So it'll be
really interesting to see where CU goes in the next
couple of years.

Speaker 7 (14:33):
You know.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Right now they've got to build and show stability, have
that upward momentum really carry them forward. But it's a
make or break phase for them as well. And I
think Rick George can step aside, take on the emeritus
you know, title, and be fond and proud of everything
he's given this university during his time.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
You're the best. Enjoy the game on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Appreciate you guys so much.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
Have a great evening.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
We'll react to.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
That on the other side on Broncos Country on KOA
A fifty am ninety four to one FM. Zach Seger's
doing a great job behind the glass. Thanks to Bree
Masis for joining us in the last segment. Also Rick
Lewis Broncos Color Analysts earlier in the show for is
what the Funk segment Alex Gold from the fan up

(15:20):
there in KC giving us a preview of the Chiefs.
If you miss any of that, you can find it
at Koacolorado dot com or on the free and redesigned
iHeartRadio app, where you can now set KOA as a
preset just like you do in your car. Also at
Koacolorado dot com You can hear the full interview the
one on one with Jack Corgan, Voice of the Rockies,
alongside Paul Dipdesta, the new president of baseball Operations for

(15:43):
the Rockies. Here is a portion of that interview.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I think it's.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
Unique, you know, in all sports, and it's not easy.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
But that's part of the fun, right I think it's
part of the fun.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
You know.

Speaker 8 (15:55):
I talked to a lot of my friends in baseball,
and almost all the ones I saw at the gas
meetings in these last couple of days.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
They all were a little jealous. You have to be
able to.

Speaker 8 (16:04):
Take on a challenge like this, so you know, I've
said it before, I'm a bit of a sucker for
a challenge, and I think this is a great one
to take on.

Speaker 9 (16:12):
One of the things that people may not realize that
your breath of experience in multiple sports kind of puts
you in a unique spot, if you will, where you've
had all these experiences to gather information and now to
attempt it as the boss, if you will, to.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Make it happen. No, absolutely, I've been super fortunate.

Speaker 8 (16:36):
I mean, five different Major League Baseball teams and then
getting over the course of twenty years and then getting
to spend a decade in the NFL an unusual path, you.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Have to say the least.

Speaker 8 (16:45):
But no, I'm anxious to do that exactly as you said.
To take all those different experiences, all the learnings, not
only from all those people, great people, and all those
different organizations, but even from the different leagues, and what
are things that we can learn, you know, from my
experience in the NFL, and hopefully and those into competitive
advantages here for the Rockies.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
That was Paul Deepaedesta talking with the voice of the Rockies,
Jack Corgan, on why he's excited about the challenge for
rebuilding the Rockies. And I would have to say this
may be his biggest challenge of his career.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I would definitely concur but I root for him to
kind of turn things around and try to make this
team into a respectable team again.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
So look, he's got my support for right now.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Right now, me too.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
And yeah, the Rockies can drive you to drink.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
And speaking of that, let's get to the NFL six pack.
It's time for the NFL six path. I'm going to
take the last beer insight. Information you can't find anywhere
else on.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
The NFL has time cut off off there yourself.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
Then to get to the music, and I was just
so excited to get to this beer.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Fairly.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
The NFL has filed a grievous against the NFLPA for
their annual team report cards, with the move reportedly being
led by Jets owner Woody Johnson, who notably earned an
F grade for his ownership capabilities in last year's edition
of the NFLPA team report cards. What do you make
of this move by the NFL in its ownership and

(18:23):
do you think this reflects poorly on all of the
league's owners or primarily its worst defenders like Woodie Johnson
and maybe did well in Arizona.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Well, I think this impacts those who did not get
a high grade or high praise.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
I think it's great.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
I mean, it wasn't available when I was a player,
but I'm glad that the players actually have a voice.
And what it does is it would put teams and
owners on blast as far as how the players see
that they're being treated, and they would force the ownership
to kind of make some subtle changes because you don't
want to be at the bottom of that list every
single year. So I like the idea, but getting rid

(19:03):
of it, man, I mean teams will go back to.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Being business as usual.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah, I mean, I think the Bengals ownership's got to
be a part of this with Woody Johnson. But you've
seen it create subtle changes around the NFL. When some
team gets a bad report card, great, and then you know,
like the Broncos are like, oh, we're gonna look at
this and we're going to change things to make the.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Experience better for our players.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I liked the transparency by the NFL and the NFLPA
with these report cards, and I think this is a
horrible look for the league.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
I fully agree, and it was effective.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Like the way you get I think that's honestly why
they're cracking down on it, right, The way you get
billionaires to invest all this money into childcare better meals
for the players. All these things that the fans aren't
necessarily pretty to is dragging it out into the sunlight
and embarrassing ownership. They should be shamed for giving their
players a grill cheese sandwhich when they're making a few

(19:55):
billion a year.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Well, why is it okay for players to be evaluated
every single year?

Speaker 4 (20:00):
As we take day?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yes, every single day. But they can't be evaluated. Come on,
there's a problem with that.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Every Sunday night we see every single player come up
on the screen and say whatever college they went.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
To, and right under their name, every ranking terrible player.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Why can't we have that for owners?

Speaker 2 (20:20):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Two, The New England.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Patriots are unveiling their special Rivalry Addition unifice. You have
it right there on the screen in front of you.
What do you make of that new look and how
do you think it compares to the other rivalry uniforms
we've seen this season. I believe we've seen the like
Rams blackout thing, the Cardinals have like an eggshell looking thing,

(20:45):
and then the Jets like Gotham Nights thing, and the
Dolphins blackout.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I think we've seen so far.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
You know, I'm like a lot of these kind of uniforms,
alternate uniforms, whatever. They're a whole lot better than the
color Rush uniforms you saw some years ago and the
Patriots uniforms. I mean, it may look kind of drab
because I don't know if that's a that's.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
A denim or is it gray gray blue?

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Yeah, it looks kind of a It looks fucking to me.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I like it you know what, I would like to
see the Broncos have a little uh black in their uniforms,
so like the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Just a little, not a lot, just a little.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
And I think my favorites of all of them were
those Dolphins ones.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Those were sweet.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
When you get the black and then a little bit
of the bright color popping off of.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
It, you're out numbering.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Both Seekers didn't like it, and me and Ben didn't
like it.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
I didn't dislike it as much as I was, like,
why are the Dolphins doing a blackout?

Speaker 4 (21:39):
That's fair?

Speaker 1 (21:39):
I mean, what's what's the purpose here? I guess you
black out when you're in Miami.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Well, well that's been knowing. That happened on the side
of beat. But the whole idea is to sale uniforms.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Ye, merch, move merch, that's the whole idea. What do
you think the Broncos rivalry uniform will look like?

Speaker 5 (21:55):
I'm dreading we're gonna get brown and yellow.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
I really don't.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Plays like the Pitsburg Steelers with that little ex or
whatever on the front.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Oh my gosh, there was a reason they quit making
those jerseys.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Leave them, leave them gone.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
Three the Texans have ruled out c. J. Stroud for
this week's game, meaning Davis Mills will get his second
consecutive start. I've got to ask, how worried are you
about Stroud and him missing all this time from a concussion.
We're talking about two and a half games at this point.
That's definitely more than average.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
And do you think.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
There's any chance the Mills could steal the Houston starting
job from Stroud with how could the offenses looked under
his command?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
No, that's like saying that Brod Perdy is gonna lose
his job to mac Jones.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Was I don't foresee happening.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Doesn't agree with me, but no, I think this is
the proper way to do it. And the reason I
say that remember what we saw of Jackson dut when
he play against the Eagles. I mean, Brian Dabo rushed
to the tent because he wanted his quarterback bet out
on the field. And the neural just your job is
to make sure that players have care for So if

(23:03):
it takes some time for CJ. Stroud to get his
mind right figuratively and literally, I like the league taking time.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Yeah, but it is worrisome when you start to miss
multiple games from a concussion. I think it's smart that
he's out again this week, if there's any question for it.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
And who knows.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
You get those extra yards from that long neck of
Davis Mills. You know, you get a couple extra inches
every play. But I don't think his jobs in jeopardy.
I think him and Demiko are on the same page
and he's just taking a little time to get healthy.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
They've had a tough year this year.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
We've seen him regress a little bit. I think this
is just a play for the long run.

Speaker 9 (23:40):
Four.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
I agree, think it's good they're taking the long way there.
But like you said, Dick brock Purty at mac Jones.
Brock Perty is expected to return to the forty nine
ers starting lineup this Sunday, Pretty mac Jones on the bench.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Now.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
I think you're right that starting job doesn't seem in jeopardy.
But my question for you, do you think Pretty will
provide an upgrade to the forty nine ers offense on
what mac Jones was giving them or do you think
we'll look back and wonder if they were better off
with who back.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
No, we're not wondering anything, because if we were going
to wonder all of that wonder would have happened this
time and we would classified it as being wonderful. And
even though the forty nine ers have won games, keep
this in mind. Brought Purdy before he got his payday.
Remember what he did. He actually took the forty nine

(24:30):
ers and as sending them to a stratus fare they
hadn't been in years. I mean, they lost against the
Cassie the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but mister relevant
not a number one draft choice, and Met Jones got
them this, So don't forget that.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
I think that the danger in this is it seems
like Brock Purdy keeps rushing himself back and not but
putting his best performance on tape because he's worried about
losing that starting job.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
If I'm him, I'm not worried at all. You just
got paid. Like, let it play out out.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
And you can see that Mac Jones is a capable backup,
like if he's going to put you in a good
position for when you're fully healthy to come back, which
I hope brock Perdy is this time around. I do
think brock perty is a better quarterback, but not when
he's not fully healthy.

Speaker 5 (25:14):
I think that's well put and thankfully they've stumbled upon
maybe a great backup for the long haul.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
I wonder if some.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
Of brock purty rushing himself back is to take it
back to those twenty twenty run reports and how infatuated
with Mac Jones Kyle Shannan was. It's like your partner's
high school sweetheart is coming back in town.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Why do you get a greased with them all the time?

Speaker 2 (25:37):
This is a little his friends, It's no big deal.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
I don't think brock perty has anything to worry about.
That's what they all say.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
The New York Jets have placed Garrett Wilson on IR,
meaning he will miss at least the next four games
for New York, with the Jets potentially heading towards an
off season fire sale.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Do you think we've seen the.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
Last of Wilson with the Jets? And do you think
the Broncos should try and make a move for the
talented receiver?

Speaker 4 (26:10):
That'd be a know on both.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
I don't think the Broncos should make a move for
Garrett Wilson because here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
I mean, that's still money for a veteran.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Wide receiver where you can go into twenty twenty six
draft and you can find another guy that is cost effective.
More importantly, you have him on a rookie deal. But
the Jets need playmakers, they need guys.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
And Garrett Wilson is a foundational piece for them. And
I don't see them moving on passing.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Yeah, I don't think that Broncos need to make a
move for him. Obviously he's a great wide receiver, but
we're not using the receivers we have right now. Also,
I think Garrett Wilson's in the long term plans for
the New York Jets. I think he's going to be
great again once they get a quarterback that can throw
the ball unlike.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Seekers guy Justin Fields.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Hey, I'm just happy that Fields getting me those slaving youngs.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
That's that's all.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
That's all I'm looking for.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Hey, Dinners, you're gonna win two two.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
One for the wins, one for the touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
Unless Russell Wilson pulls off the greatest comeback of out
this will out perform any of the comebacks, and he
performed some great ones in Denver, but this might.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
Take the cake.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
By the way.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Russell Wilson not getting the start this weekend with Jackson
dart out Jameis Winston getting the start, and he had
this to say, and as an introductory press conference as
starter for the New York Giants.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I'm on fans and know that I'm gonna do my best.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
You know, obviously I'm gonna have fun, but.

Speaker 9 (27:31):
I'm going to execute, have a surgical execution, and just
and just play ball, man, like this is something I've
been doing since I've been four years old.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Now just get doing it in the.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Greatest city in the world, my son, what's the greatest
city in the world.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Yeah, that's a Hamilton reference with y'all don't know. It's
heye reian educating the people a New York. I love
James wison.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Man followed by followed by, Lord, please deliver me from
the pis.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
He is an all time great quote.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
You got to give him that.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
He really is.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
Six last one for you guys here, Vikings wide receiver
Justin Jefferson said he's itching to return to quote savage
mode amidst the Vikings offensive struggles this season. Do you
think we'll see the Vikings offense return to savage mode?
And if not, do you think we could see Jefferson's
frustrations boil over like we've seen with Aj Brown in Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Canny get back to savage mode.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
That all depends on the continued growth and health of
JJ McCarthy, the.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Alter ego of k J McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
I mean, we know what Justin Jefferson is capable of
just physically by himself, but it starts with having a
quarterback that's reliable and that can get him the ball.
If they continue to build that relationship once again, Jajon
McCarthy being healthy, yeah, he can return to savage mode.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
I think there's still a lot left in the tank
for Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Obviously, he's a guy that.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Also got paid, like, he's not sweating anything and he's
happy in Minnesota. I think once JJ McCarthy continues to progress,
and I think he will. I have not been the
biggest believer of JJ McCarthy, but I think there's a
lot left to grow into for him and that alter ego.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
You know, you never know what you're going to get
from him.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
So he's got the best quarterback coach in the league
in my opinion, I think he's going to be fine.
I think it's just going to take some time, which
people don't like to give young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
We see here with bone Nicks and Denver, it takes time.
Like you look at the stats of.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Some of the all time greats Peyton Manning, John Elway,
it took them time to figure it out at an
NFL level. And I think that's what's going to happen
with JJ McCarthy and bon Nicks.

Speaker 5 (29:44):
And I think you don't even have to go back
all that far. I mean right now, Sam Dardwood might
be the favorite for MVP and was objectively bad in
New York, Like, I don't think they evaluated it. They
just went he didn't have it, he needed some time
to develop, and he got there.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Why don't think it's just time to develop? That is
a portion of it. But also being in the right
system with the coaches that believe in you and that
can set you up, that's a high part of that. Hell,
I would even say that that might be eighty percent
of it.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
But you got to think JJ McCarthy is in the
perfect situation to become the best quarterback.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
That he could be.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Right well, considering the fact that when you look at
Daniel Jones and Sam Donald, who spent some time in
the same organization.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
You got to figure that answer is yes.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
You think Kevin O'Connell's kicking himself a little bit? Like, Man,
we had Daniel Jones and Sam Donald in our room
last year and both of them are front runners for
the MVP this year.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
No, you know you're not gonna kick himself. What are
you going to say is like, we did that. I
did that, And.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
If those two guys can have success elsewhere, if we
can duplicate the same thing with JJ McCarthy, we could
do the.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Same thing here in Minnesota. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
And as the young core back for JJ McCarthy, I
mean that's got to speak volumes to you, like, Hey,
these guys really believe in me.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
This is what you could be.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, and hopefully he gets there. I think he will.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
I mean, like I said, he's in the best situation possible.
Oh man, time always goes so Fascinick. I appreciate you
making it easy as always.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well, appreciate you hanging in here with me.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
My friend Zach Seeker's great, great job behind the board
as always. I'm Grant Smith filling in for Benjamin Albright.
He'll be back tomorrow on Broncos Country Night on KOA.
Eight fifty AM ninety four to one FM

Speaker 9 (31:33):
Normady like, I'm just playing for the Lord to deliver
me from pick sixes.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
