Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in to a Broncos country tonight, Benjamin, I'll bright
here with you. Sorry, I was swallowing a drink of
my beverage chair post see you bust Men's Basketball edition.
Appreciate you guys being along for the ride. It is
a obviously a victory Monday, the Broncos beating the Kansas
City Chiefs in a game that not many gave them
(00:24):
an opportunity to win. Most of the pregame predictions were
Kansas City's way, but the Broncos found a way to
do it, battling back for yet another fourth quarter comeback.
Somebody on Twitter tried to say that it wasn't a
(00:45):
fourth quarter comeback. It absolutely was. The Kansas City Chiefs
were winning at the start of the fourth quarter, so
a fourth quarter comeback, That's exactly what it is. Broncos
win a twenty to nineteen on the last second field
goal by Will Lutts. Overall, the lutz made five field
(01:10):
goals in that game. Broncos scored one touchdown. That was
Julian McLoughlin. Bo knicks twenty four of thirty seven two
hundred ninety five yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, took two
sacks eighty nine point four quarterback rating RJ. Harrett Harvey
got eleven carries for thirty yards, although most of those
carries came late. It was McLoughlin leading most of the way.
(01:32):
Gloughlin had six carries for nineteen yards, a long of
five and the loan touchdown for the Broncos. Harvey did
have eleven carries, but only thirty yards a two point
seven average. Bo Knicks had three carries for eight yards,
Marvin Mims one for two. On the receiving front, Troy
(01:52):
Franklin continues to be the Broncos' most targeted receiver four
catches out of eight targets, only two first down. Out
of that eighty four yards twenty one per led the
team for the game, although most of that came on
a thirty five yard reception. Pat Bryant five catches on
six targets eighty two yards sixteen point four per reception
(02:12):
long of forty eight four first downs. Four of his
five catches went for first downs. Courtland Sutton four catches
for fifty nine yards of fourteen point eight average. All
four of his catches went for first downs. Evan Ingram
four catches for thirty three yards. None of his catches
went for first downs. R. J. Harvey also caught the
(02:35):
three balls for twenty yards and that's six point seven
per one of his went for a first down. Adam Prentis,
Adam Trautman, and Tyler Bedey each had catches for fourteen
to eight and no yards, respectively. Jalil also cut a
ball for negative five yards on the loan target that
he got. We had already mentioned well. Lutz went five
of five long of fifty four for field goals and
(02:57):
did make the extra point he had to attempt. Jeremy
Crosshaw had a pretty good game four pts two hundred
eleven yards. Three of those four punts went inside the
twenty an average of fifty two point a is a
pretty good day for Crosshaw, who had a bit of
the yips in the first half against the Raiders. On
kickoff returns, Tyler Bday had three kick returns for seventy
nine yards an average twenty six point three and along
(03:19):
of twenty eight. Marvin Mims definitely had been missed three
punt returns thirty three point seven average. Seventy was the
long on his punt return. On the defensive side of things,
three sacks for the Broncos, two of them Jake Uy
McMillan one of them Dj Jones. McMillan also had the
(03:39):
lord interception of the game if you, since obviously barons
didn't count as a penalty happened on the play. Leading
the team in tackles Justin Sternad with ten of them,
Hufanga had six, Jay Kuan had six and obviously was
player of the game for the Broncos. Green Law four,
(04:00):
Brandon Jones four, John Cooper four, Riley Boss for aver
Strain Foe Barron four and a couple of Dj Jones
had three. Wazur Kait two. Overall pass defenses, Hufunga had won,
Jake one had one, Brandon Jones had one, and amver
Straight had one. And that's a rundown of the Broncos
(04:20):
statistics on the chief side of things, Pa Mahomes forty
five passing attempts, twenty nine completions, two hundred and seventy
six yards, one touchdown, one interception, took three sacks twenty
seven yards. Kurrab Hunt did all the rushing for the
Chiefs thirteen carries for fifty nine yards four point five
average and one touchdown. Pat Mahomes had one carry for
three yards. Travis Kelcey was the leading receiver both in
(04:44):
receptions and yardage for the Chiefs nine catches ninety one
yards and a touchdown on thirteen targets. Five of those
were for first downs. Taekwan Thornton one catch sixty one yards,
Hollywood Brown four catches for forty yards. Rashie Rice the
second volume guy, six catches for thirty eight yards. Didn't
really didn't go anywhere with those six catches. Xavier Worthy
(05:06):
three for twenty five, Noah grah had two catches for nine,
Shark Smith two catches for eight, Kareem Hunt had a
catch for three, and Tanyan got in there with a
catch for one yard. Rny Mkleigen Mitchell got a target,
did not rid reception. Harrison Budker two for two on
field goals, long of thirty one, one for two on
(05:26):
extra points thanks to the block by Frank Crumb. Mattareza,
who has an incredible leg fours two hundred and thirty
eight yards a fifty nine point five average, zero inside
the twenty zero touchback sixty six yards on the long
on the kickoffs, Taekwon Thornton three kick returns eighty five
yards twenty eight point three average. Romigio had three for
(05:48):
seventy two twenty four average. He also had two punt
returns for nine and a half yards. Defensively, Connor led
the team for the Chiefs and the eight tackles. He
also had a Chris Jones had the other sack, no interceptions,
pass defenses for Nick Bolton, Roland Wallace, the Oshanal and
(06:11):
not Drew Trenkle was second on the team and tackles
with seven. Nick Bolton had six, and then a host
of people less than that. Overall, I mean, I thought
the Broncos played pretty good, pretty good game. They outgained
Kansas City three forty two to three eleven. They outgained
them in the passing game two eighty three two forty nine.
(06:31):
They were slightly behind him in the rushing game fifty
nine to sixty two. The time of possession wound up
being fairly close to equal, although Kansas City had held
it most of the game. When the Broncos tried assalted
away there at the end, it kind of padded the
totals a little bit. Kansas City had thirty minutes thirty
one seconds of possession Broncos twenty nine minutes twenty nine
seconds of possession, so basically a minute difference. In the end,
(06:56):
a third down percentage Broncos much more effective forty six
points seven percent on the third down while holding Kansas
City thirty eight point five percent. Broncos of course led
in sacks three to two, interceptions one to none, and
neither team had a fumble recovery in the game. That
led the Broncos to their eighth win in a row
and drop Kansas City to five and five, basically putting
(07:17):
the Broncos in the driver's seat for the AFC West Division.
They just had to close things out as we go,
and you know, this team looks like it's finding ways
to continue to win games. There's been a lot of
trepidation coming off the Thursday night game against the Raiders,
but I think this one put a lot of that
to bed. So it'll be fascinating to see what the
(07:38):
Broncos will do with the Commanders on Sunday. Excuse me,
Sunday Night Football a week from Sunday. And for those wondering,
the game is not being flexed, Broncos course eight in
a row. The Commanders lost five in a row. Both
teams want to buy this week, but those streaks will
remain be on the line in prime time and not
(07:59):
just the afternoon. Our old friend Nicki Chavala reporting per
sources that the game is not going to be flexed.
Commanders currently don't have starting quarterback Jadan Daniels, who suffered
a dislocated elbow during Washington's most recent Sunday night game
back in Week nine. If he does not play, it'll
be a bit of an Oregon quarterback reunion game, I guess.
With Boonix victim facing Marcus Mariota. It will be the
(08:23):
fifth night game in sixth standalone game for the Commanders
in twenty twenty five. So far, they've lost every one.
In Week two at Green Bay on Thursday night, Week six,
against the Bears on Monday night, Week eate against the
Chiefs on Monday night, Week nine, against Seahawks on Sunday night,
and of course the Week eleven debacle against the Dolphins
in Madrid this past Sunday morning. All flex and non
(08:47):
flex decisions are made by the NFL, so with three
Thursday games on Thanksgiving and a Black Friday game, there
were few available options than usual for a Week thirteen
Sunday night game. The three most viable possibilities for the
flex out in theory would have been the Rams, Panthers, Texans, Colts,
or Vikings Seahawks. None of the three appear to move
the needle any more than Broncos Commanders. Different rules limit
(09:11):
the league options from CBS and Fox. They have the
ability to protect certain games to the requirement that won
of every team's home and home division rivalries land on
a Sunday afternoon, and with the Colts and Texans playing
again in Week eighteen, moving their first meeting to Sunday
night would presumably exclude the rematch from sliding to Saturday
(09:32):
night or Sunday night. A bit of a third rail
on that is that Broncos Commanders is an NBC game.
That's said. The league says every May that teams with
few night games on the original schedule have the ability
to play the way into primetime, which again means the
teams with heavy prime times late we'd have the ability
to theoretically play their way out of it, and if
(09:54):
any team had done that this year so far would
be the Washington Commanders. But the league sees fit to
keep it as is, so for those of you who
have been wondering, the Broncos will remain on Sunday Night
Football one week from this coming Sunday. What the Broncos
do with the bye week, Sean Payton gave the coaches
(10:15):
and players basically the week off, the entire week off,
to kind of rest, relax, recuperate, get away from football,
all that kind of stuff. And I think it'll be good.
You got to a point in the season where you know,
you're trying to balance everything on a knife's edge. Let
everybody flush everything out and get healthy and start over,
and having fourteen days to do that after having had
(10:37):
ten days to play the Kansas City Chiefs, I think
it's pretty beneficial. Just sets this team upright at the
right time, and I think it'll be good. I think
it'll be good for him going forward. You know, as
we look at this thing, the Broncos are probably going
to have a well, they're gonna have a playoff game.
I mean, barring an epic collapse, they gonna have a
playoff game. Probably gonna have a home playoff game at
(11:00):
least one. We'll see. Right now, they're they're in the
driver's seat, But we'll see. And so it's gonna be
interesting to see. Now, what what is the expectation? What
is the they have to perform to this level? You know,
last year you're playing with a bit of house money,
you make the playoffs, even though you got blown out,
nobody expects you to be there. This year, Sean Payton
painted the Super Bowl target directly on their back. And
(11:24):
so I guess the question becomes as they get closer
and closer to the realization of a home playoff game,
is uh, is that enough? Is having a home playoff
game enough? Is? Does it take winning one? Does it
take winning two? What is the what is the standard
now this year for the Denver Broncos, because you're going
to have to meet or exceed that standard going forward.
And I wonder, you know where the where the fans
(11:45):
are with that. Obviously, everybody's jubilant that, uh, they beat
Kansas City and it looks like we've knocked off Kansas
City from the you know, their af their rain over
the AFC West. But I think the larger question is, UH,
as we as we move forward, you know, what are
the expectations, what is the what is the minimum success
(12:08):
and what is what is expected of this football team?
And I think that that bar just got raised. I think,
you know, I think this team kind of needs to
win a playoff game. I don't think you. I don't
think you can take this team as it is and
what you've seen out of it and host a home
playoff game and lose. I just, you know, I feel
like there's there's a set expectation level now, and I
(12:33):
am happy for Broncos fans. You get to stick your
your chests out. You get to say, you know, hey,
who are you know? We run this We run the
AFC West, it runs through us. Now, you know you
don't have to listen to Chiefs put the asterisk on
the most recent win because it was against backups. If anything,
Denver was shorthanded, uh here at home, missing their best
(12:53):
offensive and defensive player, missing their green dot player. There's
there's no qualifying or equivocating. It comes to this victory.
Denver just flat out beat Kansas City, and it's time
that you got your your bragging rights to be able
to do that. This team is now a contender, and
(13:13):
with that comes a certain amount of expectation as as
they move forward. There's no there's no sneaking up on
anybody anymore. Those those days are over. Now it's the
expected wins, and if the team is not performing to
a certain standard, it's it's time to hold people accountable.
That's that's what happens. When you you get to a
certain level, then the accountability starts. And I think that's
(13:35):
that's where the clock is starting now. It was interesting
watching over the past week national media outlets that Seohn
Payton had previously worked with all talking about the Broncos
potentially drafting another quarterback this year, and now all of
a sudden, they're back on the MVP stuff they were
on two weeks ago. It's certainly funny to watch the
pendulum swing on some of that stuff. I think people
(13:56):
it's interesting to me because people wonder why don't get
caught up in that. I don't hate whining about refereeing
or officials. I hate getting caught up in the hyper
minutia of the moment of you know, is this person
at m VP or are they getting you know, benched
or what that's you know, you gotta let things play out,
You got to you gotta look at things in the aggregate.
You gotta look at things, you know, in the in
(14:17):
the bigger picture. I mean, we can drill down of
some of the micro stuff at times, but you also
have to have a macro outlook at times too. And
I think that's I think that's a part of why, uh,
some people have grown with a wet blanket thing, you know,
is because I've been like, all right, well, I'm not
jumping to the conclusion here until we get a bigger picture.
(14:38):
The Broncos don't have anything left to prove this year.
I mean, you got to handle business. You gotta go
out there and win your games and all that stuff.
But there's nothing left to prove on this go well,
one thing, one thing let's to prove, I guess not
any major things left to prove on this schedule. You
gotta beat the Chargers at some point. You can't go
for Harball in the Sean Payton era and expect that
not to be a thing. So you got to beat
the Chargers at some point and and get that, you know,
(15:01):
check that box. But but otherwise there's there's nothing left
for this team to prove. I mean, if if he
done it against the best, done it against the worst,
done it against offenses, done it against defenses, done it
on a short week, done it with rest, dethroned the
the both teams that went to the Super Bowl. You know,
there's there's nothing left to check, no box left to
(15:22):
check except for I guess the hardball box. Otherwise, though,
I think now it should be about handling business and
getting set up for the playoffs. That that needs to
be the sort of the redirected focus. I think with
this football team, you're gonna have to figure out the
run game, which was severely lacking without JK. Dobbins. Jaliel
was significantly more effective than R. J. Harvey was. We'll see,
(15:46):
will continue to see if that continues to be the
case or not, and what the usage is. I had
talked all week about how I expected Jaliel to take
some of the first down work, and he certainly did
got the only touchdown, So but it'll be it'll be
interesting to see what that split is going forward and
how long this team can go if they if they
(16:06):
aren't effective, because Jalil was vastly more effective than R. J.
Harvey and still wasn't very effective, So it'll be it'll
be interesting to see. I think you've got to figure
something out with the Troy Franklin stuff. He's coming up big,
you know, in the fourth quarter, but it's still the
team's least efficient wide receiver and he can then the
most targeted at the same time, which is a ludicrous
(16:28):
thing for me to say, I think. But otherwise, I mean,
you know, this team has done it without its best players.
It's it's faced every hurdle thrown at it, and I
just I just don't see any excuses anymore. This is
a contending football team. It's going to be a contending
football team, and now you've got to figure out, Okay,
is this thing maximized for a deep playoff run. Guys
(16:49):
who listening to Broncos Country Tonight right here on KWA,
welcome back to the Broncos Country Tonight post. See a
buff men's basketball addition shitch Guys being along the celebrating
the Broncos victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. We got
into a bunch of that. In the last segment of
this segment, we'll look at some other things around the league. Well,
(17:10):
the main ones I wanted to look at rothbat the
epidemic of no spitting in the NFL, and we had
another incident. We had an incident earlier than the year
when Jalen Carver spinning at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The NFL has suspended Bengals wide receiver Jamark Chase for
(17:32):
a game without paying for spinning on Steelers safety Jaylen
Ramsey yesterday, and the official announcement the league says Chase
spit on Pittsburgh quarterback Jail Ramsie valleying Rule twelve, Section three,
Article one, which applies to any act which is contrary
to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship. Chase obviously have
the right to appeal the decision. If he does, one
of the three hearing officers, which are Jordan Nelson, Ramon Foster,
(17:55):
and Derek Brooks, will make the final decision. All three
are jointly hired by the NFL and the NFLPA. In
the opening game excuse me the season, Jayalen Carter ejected
first spit that occurred after the opening kickoff before the
first play. The league suspended him, but treated the full
game ejection as the playing time missed. Carter find in
the amount of game check simulating the final outcome of
(18:17):
a suspension without pay. Most importantly, Carter did not appeal
the decision, and that gave Chase the ability to argue
that the long standing practice of finding players for spitting
should not be ignored. It's gonna be difficult for Chase,
who denied spitting, to prove that he didn't. The video
emerged and made it very clear that he spit toward
and most likely on, Jalen Ramsey. The league has access
(18:39):
to many high definition cameras at every stadium and should
make it more clear and obvious. Zach Taylor's comments today
on the matter essentially conceded that Chase did spit on Ramsey.
For those wondering, he said that Jamar Chase crossed a line,
but people are allowed to make a mistake. I this
(19:03):
is stupid. I don't know how Chase is going to
prove that he didn't, because he very obviously did and
it's on camera. But you know it is what it is.
The three and seven Bengals, they'll be hosting the nine
and two Patriots on their next game, So Chase's appeal,
if he pursues one, should be resolved in the next
day or so. Doubt that doubt that he will. Uh
(19:23):
Bill's wide receiver Keon Coleman told reporters after yesterday's went
over the Buccaneers that he knows he has to be
better and do the right things. After he was a
healthy scratch for Sunday's game because he was late to
a meeting. Today, a coach Sean McDermot said the team's
going to take it one day at a time, noting
the importance of Coleman learning from it. McDermott, who said,
you grow from it. Excuse me, you grow from it.
(19:45):
We can move forward. You don't grow from it. It's
hard to move forward. So ultimately it comes down to
developing trust, and that trust your teammates having you, and
that trust builds through repetition and consistency. It's obviously not
the first disciplinary action Coleman has faced in his young career,
which is part of the reason why the there's less
tolerance for what he did among the coaching staff and teammates.
(20:05):
Keon knows now he's in the hot seat and he
needs to come on and show up for it. And
that was left tackle Dion Dawkins. Pats are uh, pats
on the back are over with. It's time for him
to grow up and he knows it. Coleman, who was
the thirty third overall pick last year's draft, has thirty
two receptions three hundred and thirty yard street touchdowns this season. Yeah,
(20:27):
I missed a meeting on Friday, got a healthy scratch.
Michael Hardman was brought up, just another headcase. And Coleman,
who's trying to sort of force his way out of
Buffalo apparently or it feels that way, has got a
lot of work to do. It's interesting when your teammate'll
put their name on it and tell you it's time
to grow up through the public it's time to grow up.
(20:48):
I guess one of those things that I think is fascinating.
You know, players generally don't put public their names on
public criticism as far as that kind of stuff goes,
But Dion Dawkin's coming out and outright stating it in
Keon Coleman's cases is certainly something I think that Keyon
Coleman should take the heart. We'll see if he's able
to he's able to turn things around. College football coaching
(21:13):
carousel has started. One of the many vacancies in powerful
conferences has already been filled. Pete Thamil of ESPN said
Virginia Tech is finalizing a deal to hire former Penn
State head coach James Franklin. The move is expected to
carve significantly into Franklin's forty nine million dollars buyout with
(21:34):
the Nitney Lions. It's unclear whether any current NFL coaches
would have been interested in the position after the current season,
and possible that back channels were activated is to one
or more potential candidates. Regardless, it's it's a challenge for
every NFL franchise and major university when they're you're firing
a head coach and who the replacements going to be.
(21:57):
Sometimes the determination is made with a clear plan. Sometimes
it's just moving on. But the NFL's coaching carousel, which
has already created two vacancies, I was going to be
cranking up here in about seven weeks and it'll be
interesting to see how that goes. Two weeks ago tonight,
(22:17):
the Cardinals had ended a five run a five straight
excruciatingly close losses by depending the Cowboys in prime time,
and then the two games since that victory, they've been
blown out by near identical scores of forty four to
twenty four to the Seahawks forty one twenty two to
the Niners, and the latest loss has prompted some speculation
in Arizona the third year coach John Gannon won't be
(22:39):
getting a fourth caumn this Bob mcnamon of the Arizona
Republic raised the question after Sunday's loss, which included a
franchise record seventeen penalties. During his press conference today, John
Gannon was asked about the hot seat talk and said, yeah,
that's not a controllable for me. I didn't hire myself.
I'm not going to fire myself, so seriously, no, I
know it comes up. That's the business where in if
(23:00):
you don't want to be in that business, we we laugh,
we joke, go work somewhere else. I'm going to control
the variables for myself. Come to work, do the best
job that I can and try to get our team
in a position to win games. The Cardinals, who've never
had a coach coach more than six years, Jim Hanifan
and Ken wizen Hunt both got six. You know it.
(23:26):
From what I understand the people I've talked to is
that Arizona's going to keep this coaching staff and general
manager Monty Austin fort they'll move on from Kyler Murray
at the end of the year. They may move on
from their offensive coordinator, Drew Petsing, But overall, I don't
expect Arizona to move on from John Yannon. And you know,
(23:47):
they did game this week. You look at the injury
report and Arizona's has so many injuries. It's a it's
a wonder that score wasn't bigger. But you know, I
think I think Arizona fans are discarnted was expected to
be a big season for them, and you know, then
you had those five losses by a combined thirteen points,
and then now you've got injuries going on and all
(24:08):
this kind of stuff. It's just it's it's been testy
for him. But I don't believe Arizona's going to make
a change. I do believe that again it'll be back
next year. And that's so we'll general manager Money Austin
for him. We'll see see how that goes. But you know,
certainly a tough time down there is a season that
was expected to go a lot better has has not
(24:30):
so far. Bills who expected season to go a little
bit better and it hasn't be Michael Pennix. Pennix Falcons
head coach for he Marris confirmed today that Penix is
going on injury reserve after injuring his knee and the
loss of the Panthers, but declined to delve too much
deeper into the outlook. Report today indicated there's damage to
(24:51):
his ACL. Marris said that he can't really elaborate on
the nature because he's still gathering more opinions from doctors
at the moment. The injury was to pennix left knee,
which is the same one he heard earlier this season
towards right ACL twice while in college. Mauras said there's
always a concern about a season ending injury when a
player has to go on IR, and he said, is
he's hurting for Pennix. Kirk Cousins will take over as
(25:13):
the team starter east and Stick will move up from
the practice squad to be his backup. One of the
things that we've talked a lot about recently has been
sports wagering, and it looks like we've got some some
(25:34):
people admitting to some things more and more coming out
and as a former University of New Orleans basketball player
Dante Hunter admitted his role at a point shaving operation.
The wild West days of legalized, normalized, and frankly heavily
monetized gambling continues to rage. The league is trying to
(25:58):
do things about it, but hasn't done any thing tangible.
No full time officials, no efforts to promote the kind
of consistency and transparency that'll get people to understand that
normal incidents of the game are not the result of
abnormal motivations. And of course, we had a recent development
today when former UNO basketball player dat A Hunter admitted
his role at a point shaving operation. Hunter and others
(26:21):
are accused of losing or attempting to lose by more
than the point spread in at least seven the University
of New Orleans games. Appearing on ABC's Good Morning America,
Hunter said he did it to get money to support
his family. Same quote. I just had a child. The
school wasn't paying me money, so I was trying to
get money to take care of my child. Hunter also
(26:41):
admitted that he lied to the NCAA when asked about
the situation. Same quote. I told him I wasn't doing it.
I told him I didn't know anything. But basically the
whole time I knew everything, whether it's a desire to
get money for a family member, chase extra money because
it's there, help childhood friends, make a little scratch betting
the under on prop bets. Ski of abuse is certainly
out there. It's critical to reduce the temptations, in part
(27:06):
by minimizing the universe of inside information the communities used.
But in this case, it was insidious one about sharing
individualized secrets or engineering you know a thing. It was
engineering team performance, really and that's a far more difficult
task to accomplish, and it frankly a direct assault on
(27:29):
the integrity of the games in which it occurred. Something
like that, ever happens in the NFL and the NFL
doesn't choose or manages to cover it up, the consequences
would be pretty dire for the league, probably take years
to recover, which is why, and I keep saying this,
it's important, more important than ever for the NFL to
(27:50):
spend time and money necessary to to sort of stain
proof the sweater. It requires people who care about the
sports to push against the whole like relax buddy stuff
that goes on, and find ways to make sure that
the integrity of the game is never at risk, because
(28:18):
if if you've gotten into bed with these these books,
and in the interest of full disclosure, we have a
deal with BET three six five, you have to make
sure that the product that they're offering is not in
any way rigged so that people putting their hard earned
money on it, you know, aren't aren't aren't putting those situations.
(28:38):
And that's it's frustrating to me the way the NFL
doesn't seem to recognize that the NBA like you good
that you're catching the people that you're catching, and you
need to keep doing that and make that public so
that looks like you're doing something. But at the same time,
you can eliminate certain things that put it at a risk,
and it looks like thus far, not many have been
(28:59):
willing to do so. Brown's quarterback Shoodoor Sanders, made his
NFL debut on Sunday. Wasn't a particularly great debut. He
hit his first two passes for twelve yards and then
was pretty ugly after that, still bailing out of the
back of pockets. He did throw an interception, should have
had another. Not a great debut, but again, his backup quarterback,
(29:22):
he's never had any snaps with the starters. So we'll
see going forward if he's able to get some more
time and able to to do anything with that time.
While the game was happening, something happened in his house.
The details are still being gathered, but apparently there was
a break in at Shoodoor Sanders home. It's unclear at
(29:44):
this point whether anything was taking no suspend, no potential
suspects had been identified, just yet another example of inherent
security vulnerabilities of pro athletes is publicly known when they're
at work they work on live TV. In recent years,
pro athletes has been victimized on multiple occasions. Victims include Mahomes,
(30:06):
Travis Kelcey, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Saints Devincent, and Camp Jordan.
And basically everybody knows when you're going to be outside
of your house and that's the point when they go
over an attempt to break in. I personally have just
said that the Broncos should, you know, have security personnel
that you know, or hire people to watch the game
(30:29):
at their house during that kind of stuff. If you
sure if you're at risk for those kinds of things,
which not every athlete is, but there are some that
live in and make top end money as some of
the names that we've noted, and puts them in a
position to be a bigger target. The Washington Commanders cut
Matt Gay. Didn't play very well this season. Thirteen of
(30:52):
nineteen field goals missed two in Sunday's overtime lost to
the Dolphins. Is sixty eight point four percent success rate.
Ranks thirty second or thirty four kickers who've had enough
attempts to qualify this season. Gays also played for the
Colts and Rams. Cowboys activated safety Malik Hooker off the
(31:14):
ir getting some more defensive help as they have needed.
Hooker was sidelined by a toe injury he suffered back
a week four his twenty tackles so far this season.
Cowboys placed offensive tackle as Johnny Cornelius on the injury
reserve with a knee issue, so elevated running back by
Leak Davis from the practice squad. Davis appeared in three
games so far the season, playing ten snaps, and he
(31:36):
was fifty two special teams snaps. The Rams safety Quintin
laks is going to miss some time with an elbow injury.
He had to get an MLR on it Kevin Stefanski said,
(31:56):
Shador Sanders has done great work and we'll get better
with the reps that he's got. Browns, of course, haven't
named a starting quarterback for the Week twelve game, but
there's a good chance it'll probably be shaudor Dylan Gabriel
did not return to Sunday's game against the Ravens after
a halftime due to a concussion, and then Sanders saw
his first NFL action over the final thirty minutes, completing
his first two passes as I said, for twelve yards. However,
(32:19):
when twelve two of fourteen, excuse me for the next
set of passes for thirty five yards, had an interception,
his first work of any kind with a starting offense
since joining the team. Satelly kind of shows how the
unfamiliarity with other players on the field has impacted him.
He said he looks forward to having a week to
prepare stuff I like to do before getting back on
(32:41):
the field. Brown's head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that
he also thinks that kind of preparation will benefit the rookie.
Say quote, shitter is putting in great work on the field.
In the meeting room, he'll be better with the repsis getting,
like any player would be better. We trust him and
he's somebody that's continued to put in the work and
will continue to do so. The Browns return to practice
on Wednesday, and Sanders should be getting plenty of reps
(33:03):
on the team eyeballs Dyllan Gabriel's progress through the concussion
protocol and it'll be, uh, it'll be fascinating to see
if if he's able to do better. There were several
quarterbacks that came out and came to his defense on
social media today, you know, after people were dogging should
(33:26):
Or for his performance and then report came out that
he didn't take it a single snap with the offensive
starters throughout since he'd been with the Browns organization. And
there were guys like Luke McCown and guys like that
who'd come out and been like, look, I was a
career backup. I never got snaps with the thing. This
is what happens. You know, they want to give the snap,
(33:46):
the snaps to the offense because the starters, because there's
a limited number and and this is what happens in
your backup. You just got to make do. So they
expect should order to have a better week in his
next if he gets more more snaps than he did. Neither.
Quarterback Dylan Gabriel didn't look any good either. He had
seven to ten for sixty eight yards on a sack
(34:07):
in an eighty eight quarterback rating in the first half.
Sanders also had three carries for sixteen yards. I neglected
to mention. So we'll see. We'll see if see you
Door is able to get a week of practice in
and be a little bit better. You know, obviously Rep's
help and the timing and all that kind of stuff helps.
(34:28):
But he looked pretty bad in that debut, and certainly,
you know, that's certainly something to keep your eye on.
Is that situation in Cleveland seems to be imploding just
a little bit. Appreciate you guys being along for the
ride here on an abbreviated version of Broncos Country. And
I don't his date Wednesday, we got that food drive
you guys listened to Kawe
