Speaker 1 (00:00):
Live from King Supers on Colorado and Yale till nine
p m. It's the fifth annual KOA Hot Today Food
Drive benefiting Food Bank of the Rockies, presented.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
My Redbird Farms and Colorado Buick GMC Dealers. Here's Broncos
Country tonight.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Welcome back to it the fifth annual KOA Food Drive.
Got just just an hour left here benefiting Food Bank
of the Rockies. I always love doing this every year.
This year certainly a little bit warmer, although Shannon's goott
always make sure we're prepared. He's got the campfire heater
going on out here. It was appreciate. Uh, it looks

(00:42):
like we got somebody honking out there, is it? Of
course it would it would be Shandon's that the said
skillet there. You guys can join us. Tell now, I've
got about a hour left here at the King Supers
of Colorado and Yale to help those in need cays
following day food drive benefiting the Food Bank of the Rockies.
We'll take all your donations. Turkey's food cast. We got
the QR code. It's presented by Red Bird Farms and

(01:03):
thank you for their generous donation of four thousand pounds
of chicken breast and Colorado GMC dealers. Visit your local
GMC dealer for the full Syra family lineup. And it
has been it's been fun. It's it's been a lot
of fun out here. It's always fun to just say
hi listeners as they drop stuff off or whatever we
go right there, as we said, right as I'm saying,
if we got people dropping stuff off, we appreciate your

(01:24):
very generous donation of the Food Bank of the Rockies
and hoping that you know, everybody eats well this year
at the around the holidays, the boy the Broncos defense
is eating up on eating on opposing offenses right now.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Absolutely, And shout out to the listeners.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
We had someone with Food Bank of the Rockies just
telling us how so many more turkeys than last year,
like eight times as many turkeys, a whole lot more
food than they had last year. So shout out to
everyone who showed up and donated today, because we've got
a good.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Haul for a lot of needy people this year.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yeah, and I still have yet to see one of
these alleged twenty seven pound.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Turkeys that let's go rifling through those.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, we'll go rifle through that shopping guard here and
a little somebody's gonna think we're taking them at that point,
a few other things to get through. Got an NFL
six back coming up bottom of the hour here. You know,
as we look forward to this season that the rest
of the season, the road looks looks pretty paved. There's
a couple of games in there where you you know,
the Jacksonville where we're not quite sure what they are,
the Chargers they've had our number. We got the Chiefs

(02:24):
game of course on Christmas. But the rest of these
games look pretty winnable. I mean, the Raiders are you know,
a bleep show. The Commanders if they don't have Jayden Daniels,
I don't see any any way they're winning that one.
And this schedule, you know, the Green Bay Packers have
been hit or miss. That was a game you probably
looked at when this schedule came out and said, I
don't know about that, and especially when they added Michael Parsons,

(02:47):
but they've been hit or miss this year. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
I was gonna say, right after the Micah Parsons trade,
it looked like that might be the hardest game on
the schedule. Now, you know, you don't know what version
of the Green Bay Packers you're gonna get. They're like
a box of chocolates. I thought a Forrest Gump line.
They just are so unpredictable, and I both a good
and bad way. Like, when they're at their best, I
think they can beat any team in the NFL, and

(03:10):
when they are at their worst, they can lose to
the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I just there.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
So I'm worried about that game because you could get
the good version of the Packers and then you are
in trouble.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
You can also get the bad version of maybe cruise
to a victory.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, It's it's been a fastinting story, and really the
hit or missed part of it has been the offense
for the Green Bay Packers this year. You know it's
not I mean the defense, Jeff Hafley, You's done a
pretty good job there, but the offense, which has been old, faithful,
the reliable board for the Green Bay Packers. This is
really falling off a cliff and I've yeah, I've made
no secret the fact I'm at the world's biggest Shordan
love fan. But you know, at the end of the day,

(03:43):
I think you didn't expect him to you know, to
de Thelm and Louise. The offense you know, right off.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
The cliff here and now without Tucker Kraft and Josh
Jacobs is going to miss a good amount of time,
right that, Like those were kind of the foundational pieces
of this offense. Now, like Christian Watson, who's super inconsistent,
has to become that foundational element that that sun that
everything else is orbiting around, and it's just not working

(04:07):
out great for them.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Like I like the Broncos.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Defense in that matchup, and then you know, even the Chargers,
which I think that's another one where a few months
ago would be really concerning the Broncos, as you've highlighted,
have really struggled in that matchup. Since Jim Harbot, they
yet to win a game. But the Chargers are so
beat up now with as you called them the last time,
in a junior high offensive line, Like they're a very

(04:31):
vulnerable team and I don't think they scare you in
the same anymore. The case on the road is I
would say definitely the only game the Broncos will be
underdogs and the rest of the way, I bet they're
favored every other game.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
That's that's entirely possible. I mean, we'll see, you know,
obviously it depends on the wins and losses as we yes,
we continue through. But as you sit right now, you
would think that would be the case. That's gonna be
an interesting game too, Thursday Christmas game. It gets the
chiefs ad arrowhead. Would we do to to draw the
ire of the football guys with that that draw?

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Yeah, it's gonna be a game I'm excited for. I
think we'll get the first iteration of the all white
Broncos uniforms, white helmets on white jerseys, on white pants.
I think hopefully we get a Christmas miracle or a
nice gift. I don't know, it's not even a miracle
after what we saw this on a nice gift under
the tree.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I was gonna say, you gonna open the presence and
then open the presence as it were. You know, I
don't know, and I don't know if that game is
really going to have a lot of bearing or meaning
for Denver the same way it will for Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
At that point, No, they'll probably be playing for their lives.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, they're probably scrapping for you know, for a for
a playoffs. By with the Broncos. I mean, just based
again on what we're looking at for for this schedule,
they're they're probably putting neutral right around then and trying
to make sure they're they're they're cruising into the playoffs healthy.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Yeah, and I feel pretty good about the Broncos chances
in that game. Like, obviously it's the Chiefs, obviously it's Arrowhead.
I do think they'll be underdogs, but I just you know,
they were without their best, most valuable player this past game.
I think miss so many opportunities, like the early short
fields are great opening script drive, they come away with
six points on that, Like, there are so many things

(06:08):
that I think would have killed you against the Chiefs
teams of old, and we would be lamenting it and going, well,
that's the reason they couldn't pull it off and they
lost to the Chiefs. But this year's Chiefs team is different,
and I feel good about a stronger, healthier Broncos team
and going into Arrowhead and doing it again.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Like Navan Chos has said, and the clip before.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
The Broncos and as you point out, they they're building
for more than just beating the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
But the Chiefs have been a.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Focal point for them, and how do we beat this team?
And I think they're very well set up to continue
to do so.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yeah, and we'll see, we'll see what they're able to do. Obviously,
got another game still against the the Raiders that that
figures to be a gimme game. I wonder what they're
going to do after this year. I mean, I don't
think you can fire Pete Carroll after one year, but
you gotta, you might need to. You might need to
move on from Chip Kelly. You certainly need to move
on from Geno Smith. And you've got to fix that

(07:00):
offensive line. You know, it doesn't matter who's back there.
You could have the clone of Joe Man Cunningham back there,
and because that Raiders offensive line is so bad, you
wouldn't know it.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Yeah, it's it's untenable. And I think you look at
the offensive line. I don't want to put it all
on offensive line coach. I think it's John Carroll, Pete
Carroll's kid. But it does seem a little convenient that
this guy with you know, not a ton of great
bona fides on his resume, is running a Raiders offensive
line that has seriously regressed at pretty much every position

(07:30):
from how they played last year without a lot of overhaul,
and it's not like Antonio Pierce's coaching staff was getting
plundered by the rest of the league for being overly impressive.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
I think you could maybe see Pete Carroll be one
and done. You don't want to have to resort to that.
But he's on a weirdly short contract, only three years.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
And you know, Pete Carroll, I don't think is the
guy you hire at this point in his life to
be the full scale rebuild guy. I think he was
supposed to be the quick turner guy, where we pluged
this guy in and hopefully we're winning eight nine games
the next year. Now that it looks like a more
substantial rebuilt, I wonder if they do usher Pete Carroll
out and.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Bring a guy in who can maybe see it through.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, I wonder who that would be. Tom Brady had
a lot of input on it being Pete Carroll. You know,
they they tried to flirt with the Ben Johnson thing,
but really that was just Johnson's agent looking for leverage
of Chicago to get the deal that they wanted. He
was never going to the Raiders, you know, And it
was Pete went to Bill Belichick and asked him what
he thought about Pete Carroll as as the coach or whatever,
and Bill highly recommended, you know, Pete Carroll, And I

(08:35):
think I think there was like an expectation when you
hire Pete Carroll that there was a floor. You know
that this is a culture builder, and there's a floor,
kind of the way when you when you hire Sean Dayton,
you kind of expect that, right, seven and nine is
the floor, right, And so I think with I think
with Pete Carroll that was sort of what they were expecting.
And I think at the end of the day, I
don't think they got what they they thought they were getting.

(08:55):
And I don't know if that's just Pete's old I
don't know, if that's just a lack of personnel there
with the Raiders. I don't know if that's too much
of Pete's former guys that don't have it anymore. What
are we doing with Geno Smith and Tyler Lockett like
they put them out the past year?

Speaker 5 (09:08):
With all due respect, Yeah, I think you know, you
saw how they played against the Jags, how they played
against the Broncos, and maybe you could try and tell yourself, Oh,
they are turning a corner. You know, it was a
slow start. They got brought Bowers back now and now
now we're rolling. But then you see that Monday night
performance against the Cowboys where it looked like you know,
Alabama versus Citadel. Yeah, and you know you're getting that

(09:30):
result at the end of November. You know, you want
to see the rebuild taking hold like Dan Campbell's. You're
with the Lions where they barely first year with the
Lions where they barely won any games, you felt like,
this is a team playing hard, They're they're taking steps in.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
The right direction.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
I think there's little to none of that with the
Raiders right now, Like what are you building on from
this year going into next.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
I And you've got pieces, like you've got a piece
or two there that you can build around. It's not
like Janny's you know bad. You know, brock Bowers is
phenomenal and Max Crosby's phenomenal, and You've you've got a
few pieces that you could build around it. There's none
of that. There's none of that upward trajectory feeling like
you felt with Campbell the Lions or when you had
Arizona in Gannon's first year where they were playing over

(10:13):
their heads with the I mean they had no talent
on that roster, but they were playing over their head.
There was just never there was never this that sense
with the Raiders this year, that oh, it's just okay,
all right, I see you know, we're not winning yet,
but I see where we can.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
And I think that's kind of the damning indictment of
the coaching staff. Chip Kelly in particular, like I mentioned
the following line, well, we know.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Was six runs for Ashton Jenny.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
It's great, You've spent the sixth pick on this guy,
and you need to be It's not a you know,
one carry per draft slot thing like you should be
given that guy the ball twenty times in the first half,
especially when you can't throw it with with how much
Gino Smith is regards.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You're up against then eber Flu's defense, it's weak against
the runs, a four man front.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
That's how you beat that.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
That's how you beat you know, any of those defenses
that do like that, like Dan Quinn or Matty Eberflus,
of those guys, that's how you beat them. You've got
to run at that defense.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
But you look at this offense.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Gino Smith, this is the worst version we've seen of
him since he re emerged as a starter.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Brock Bauers was a phenom last year. This year he's
just okay.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Granted there's the injury, the offensive lines regress, the wide
receivers have regressed. It just feels like every you know,
good coaches get the most out of their players, it
feels like they're getting the least out of their players
at so many different avenues to where you know it's
one and done with the staff is never something you
want to do. I think this is starting to go

(11:30):
the route where it's justifiable.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
My question is who do you hire? Who's going to
take that job though? At this point, because I mean
ever since John Gruden, who sort of had them headed
the right direction. Beyond that, I mean, it's just been terrible.
I mean, you hit the Josh McDaniels thing that was awful,
Antonio Pierce was terrible. It's just been one thing after another.
There's just been hot garbage.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
And Antonio Pierce was interim but effectively a one year
head coach. You only got the was the official title
for one season, so you'd have the back to back
one and done thing. That's a nightmare, especially for Mark Davis,
who is it's a little different now that he's in Vegas,
but notoriously one of the cheaper ownership groups. And Chip
Kelly's a very, very highly paid offensive coordinator. I already

(12:10):
talked about how bad that looks right now. Pete Carroll
is a fairly well compensated head coach. He's I think
above the mean in that conversation too, and those coaching contracts.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Are fully guaranteed.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
We've seen Mark Davis be hesitant to make moves in
the past over stuff like that. A lot of speculation.
That's why they hired Antonio Pears in the first place.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Well yeah, I mean, well it was the combination of
that and then the Rich Pasachi thing. So you know,
Rich could come on and won some games as the
interim and they didn't retain him, and there was no
sentiment that they should have. So when Antonio came on
and went a little bit is the interim, They're like, okay,
we got to keep the interim this time, even though
you never do that ever for any reason.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
And you know, it blew up in their face and
now you're looking at a coach like Bronco's ownership.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
I don't think would be sweating it.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
But you're looking at an owner that feels uncomfortable about
paying too many coaching staffs at once. Looking on the
barrel right now, I of having to pay three to
four coaching staffs and it's in an unappealing job anyways.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
And that leads you to I think the biggest question
of all and is I tie this segment full circle?
If they fired Pete Carroll, would they reach across the
division for one Vance Joseph.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
That's interesting, you know what. I think they'd be smart
to do.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
So if I were Vance Joseph, I'd be going I'd
probably get one last bite at the apple here, you know, yeah,
maybe the big apple, but very unlikely you get a
third swing as a head coach unless your your second
stint goes amazing and you really want to stake all
that on this.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Raiders rebuild and Mark Davis and everything.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
Like Vance Joseph has gotten to see the dramatic different
ends of the ownership spectrum up close.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
In Personal Bengals to.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
The Dolphins with Steven Ross, who's not the most popular guy,
the bid Wells at Arizona, who maroncos.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Before the Penners, it was the the you know, the
the trust.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
Yeah, and then now you do have the Penners who
have brought so much much stability to the franchise. They
can do so much to support of Sean Payton and
George Peyton's vision with this team. I would hope that
you know, vance Joseph ein what might be his last
opportunity to be a head coach, is looking at you know,
the Giants ownership group, the Giants roster and talent, and

(14:18):
hopefully holding out for for an opportunity that will set
them up for success, because I feel like so many
of these coaches don't just don't stand a chance, yeah,
based on the surroundings and the ownership and the roster. Like,
I just I think whoever hired or gets that Raiders job,
we're going to talk about being fired in three four years.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, It's gonna have to be somebody who's who's able
to put it together quick. Like as much as the
Ben Johnson thing was leverage against him, that's the kind
of guy that you need, uh in there a guy
that's that's young the first time or and able to
put it together quick uh. And and and go from there.
And that's I think, uh, that's I think the thing
you you'd be looking for. We should to get a

(14:58):
little bit of time down here. We're at the King
Supers of Colorado and Yale. Is the the parking lots
starting to get a little less full. So if you
were thinking about coming to donating you didn't want to
wait in line, now is your chance, guys, come on
up here. We're still going for about another thirty minutes
or so, we come back. We got the NFL six
pack right here on Broncos Country Tonight.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Live from King Supers on Colorado and Yale till nine pm.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
It's the fifth annual Kaway Holiday Food Drive benefiting Food
Bank of the Rockies.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Gears Broncos Country Tonight.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Welcome back to it the fifth day Can't Wait Food
Drive benefiting Food Bank of the Rockies. And we were
down to about the last thirty minutes or so. We're
gonna be out here live doing this. We appreciate all
of you guys stopped by. I just had a gentleman
stop by just a minute ago talking about one of
the original Denver Broncos ok Crazy Lags, who was on

(15:55):
the original team one of his one of his coaches,
I guess back in high school. And so I always
appreciate you guys stopping by a Santa Kaid word and
regaling us with your stories about Koa over the years.
And we always appreciate that you guys come on down
here and you still got like I said, we still
got about twenty minutes for you to make donations benefiting

(16:16):
the the Food Bank of the Rockies. And again we
appreciate Colorado GMC dealers at Redburo Farms who have done
such a great job with their generous donations as well.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
And with that, it's time for.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
NFL sixpect It's time for the NFL six path.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
I'm gonna trade a lot of beer night insight and
insight information you can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
No.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Six the Top six NFL headlines.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
What Cleveland Brown's rookie quarterback and former Colorado star Shador
Sanders is set to make his first career NFL start
on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
What are your expectations for Shador's first career start.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
And do you think it's that all likely? He challenges
Gabriel for the starting moving forward.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Well, you know the first things first, are they going
to retire his number. That's the real thing we need
to we need to know. Uh No, I think I don't.
I mean, and I don't know that that that that's
necessarily a merit based thing either. Dylan Gabriel is represented
by C A A and Jimmy Sexton. Kep Stefanski is
right by C A A and Jimmy Sexton.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
That's so those of you who have been wondering what
the beasting piece was the entire time, there you go.
I'll give it to you. Also, if you wonder why
Dane Rolowski can't stop gushing about both of them, you'll
never guess. So he's represented by it's Jimmy Sexton and
C A A H. As far as your door goes,
I mean, I don't think he's gonna I don't think
he's gonna out and play Dylan Gabriel either. I mean
he's this will be his first week of snaps with

(17:42):
the with the starting offensive. Guys, the same problems we
saw in college are still there. You know, blin out
of the back of pockets or are trying to run
backwards and and create plays and it's just you know,
you can get away with that in college. You can't
get away with it the pro game. I hope he
has a successful day. I hope that he goes out
there and does well, But I'm that's not something I'm
holding my breath for.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Are you worried to look as bad as it did
this past week?

Speaker 3 (18:04):
And is in his statement? I don't think anything could
look worse than than what we saw after those first
two passes this past week, next or two.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Second year Falcons quarterback Michael Pennix will miss the rest
of the season with an ACL injury. This is the
third time in his collegiate and NFL career that he
suffered a season ending ACO injury of some sort. Do
you think the Falcons will continue to build around Michael
Pennix in twenty twenty six and beyond or do you
think we could see that make another quarterback.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Edition this offseason. If so, who do you think it'll be?

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Well, I do believe the lad to the room. That
question will be answered once we figure out whoever the
OC is going to be there, because I don't think
it'll be Zach Robinson. But so at that point then
you'll you'll want somebody who's got a relationship with that
you know that offensive coordinator. Yeah, is it possible that
they bring Jamis Winston, who's got a history with Rahee Morris,
you know, in this is kind of the guy I

(19:00):
would be opposed to that. That feels like, you know,
kind of a smart move. I think you'll get one
more year of trying the penis experiment. I just I
think it's a waste. I didn't you know when he
was coming out, I was like this, you know, this
is the guy who's oft injured. He's left handed, and
as much as it sounds weird to say that, left
handed quarterbacks just just struggle in the NFL. We've seen
it with too, We've seen it with Pennix. I just

(19:21):
you know, for me, if the Falcons, the Falcons have
too many pieces that are being wasted by not having
the quarterback out there.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
And you know, Jameis Winston, he's a respectable veteran.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Who's been in the league for a while.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
But if you're Raheem Morris and your jobs on the line,
I don't know if Jameis Winston is whose hands you want.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Your career in. Well, that's who's career started with. Rahee
Marris was the coach down there. In Tampa. So it's yeah,
so it's kind of a full circle moment. I think
there would be a full circle moment if that.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
Were to happen the Young Rebucks the back when Raheem
was thirty years old and Jamis was with twenty two
coming out of the coach Next.

Speaker 7 (19:58):
Story three, Jackson Dart was limited at New York Giants
practice today, but he is expected to be ready to
play in time for this weekend's matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Will we see Dart play in that game this weekend?

Speaker 5 (20:13):
And what do you think about the Giants chances of
pulling off the upset with Dart in the Lineupnil?

Speaker 3 (20:20):
I think the better chance to win with James Winston. Honestly,
you know, as far as that stuff goes at Dart,
I mean, you gotta get him the reps this this season.
That's what that is is get this is getting him
the reps and getting getting acclimated for whomever is going
to be the next the next head coach next offensive.
Cording to the New York Giants, as much as I
want Russell Wilson to play, just for our personal weird

(20:40):
bench that we had going about, who's the worst quarterback
between Justin Fields and in Russell Wilson. I don't think
I'm gonna get too much opportunity on that thurminded of
the season, so I've resigned myself to my fate. Uh
and we'll be uh, we'll be playing you off of
a stake dinner or two. I think finished at the
establishment of your choice, sir.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm looking forward to it, and I'm I'm not picking
a Freddy's or something where we're going. We're going all out.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
We're going Donny Friscos.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Does I think they do the steak Burgos?

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Oh, Freddy Steak Burger's. I said, no, you gotta go
to a steakhouse, right, No, it's a steak I told
you you could go to Freddies.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
I'll pay for that if you want a twenty dollars
doing that.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
I'm going to uh uh go to that.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Steakhouse in Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Well, no, he's got to be local markets. But you know, yeah,
you're not going to like nine Steakhouse. You're not going
to nine in Chicago. Next story.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Four four Broncos were listed among NFL networks. I think
it was Tom Pellisera to be specific. Their list of
young coaches to know for this upcoming hiring cycle wasn't
just for head coaches, but upcoming potential offensive coordinators, defensive coordinators,
et cetera.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
They highlighted Davis Webb, Jim Leonard, Zach Streef, and running
backs coach lou A y any Am I saying that
any all getting some love?

Speaker 4 (21:56):
How much brain drained? Do you think the Broncos will
suffer this offseason end?

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Which of these coaches do you think is most likely
to leave Denver for a bigger job?

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Well, I think I think Webb will get an O
C gig somewhere, so I think that's the most likely
streetfull stay. I don't think lou Anyma is in line
for anything. I mean, he'll be moved on if if
Web goes, he might go with him, that kind of thing,
go with Vance Joseph, But I don't think, uh, I
don't think he's in line for anything. And then what
was the fourth name on there? Leonard's probably back as
the defensive coordinator is if when win it at Vance

(22:27):
Joseph gets a head coaching gig. So yeah, I think
all those guys could be promoted. There's guys with Broncos ties.
I think you need to keep your on Decklan Doyle
if they're in Chicago. I think people are are, you know,
kind of noticing, you know, he could be in line
for something. So uh, there's you know, there's some there's
some names there to keep your eye on. I don't
think any of those guys are in line for a
head coaching job.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Do you think Johnny Morton could come back to Denver
now that he's lost play calling responsibly?

Speaker 4 (22:51):
Interesting? Okay?

Speaker 5 (22:52):
And then another follow up Jim Leonard if he doesn't,
if just stays as the defensive coordinator, I guess do
you think Jim Leonard will leave for elsewhere for a
defensive coordinator somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
If Yeah, if he didn't get the job, he'll have
he'll have offers college ampro. So yeah, I mean maybe
I think he'd have to get like a defensive coordinator
and waiting tag to keep him here and a pile
of mone He's already the assistant head coach. I mean,
he's vance Joseph subordinate, but he's the assistant head coach
title in an effort to kind of play games there

(23:26):
and keep him around.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
So yeah, we've seen that the McVeigh and Shanahan Tree
has really brought that in where it's like, how many
titles can we.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Throw on to your position today?

Speaker 3 (23:34):
I was looking to see, like, I don't know Jim,
he doesn't have it yet, but at some point Jim
Leonard's gonna get Mother of Dragon's breakthrough chines added to
his length the lengthy title go Now next Door.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Five got one of your all time favorites in this one.
The NFL announced it's nine at Senior candidate semi finalists
for this year's Hall of Fame class. The semi finalists
are in alphabetic quarter, Ken Anderson, Roger Kraig, Henry Ellard,
Elsee Greenwood, Joe Jacobi, Eddie Meeter, Stanley Morrigan, Steve Tasker,

(24:08):
and Otis Taylor. Of these final semifinalists, who do you
think is most likely to get the NOD.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
And who do you personally want to see it?

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Well? The most likely will be Ken Anderson or Roger Craig,
maybe Steve Tasker. The person who absolutely head and shouldered
deserves it before any of them is Henry Ellard. Ellard,
when he retired from the NFL, was second old time
in passing yardage. He's since been passed because the gold
Beyer of passing happened. With all that, Ellard didn't even
really get started until he's twenty six, twenty seven years old.

(24:37):
He was a punt returner, kick returner. Before that they
finally got out there, was putting up thousand guys, they
get three four thousand yard seasons after he turned thirty.
You know, he was a guy that was out there
putting up thousand yard seasons with nobody's throwing to him.
If you guys remember the Washington back when through the
Washington Redskins. Yet he's sure Gus Faratt throwing this guy balls.
And he was still putting up thousand yard seasons with
the guys who could barely throw the football. He he

(25:00):
was an absolute star. He was a guy who was probably
too small back in his era, but was so fast.
Just a great football player. I had a great conversation
with Jim Everett who told me that man if Henry
Heller doesn't get into the Hall of Fame or something
wrong with.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
The Hall of Fame, I think that's very well put.
Why do you think he hasn't made it yet because.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Colia passing just screwed him. I mean, he was this guy,
the guy that they retired at exactly the wrong time,
right when you had all these monster passing offenses take off,
and so guys, you know, guys were getting in with
right around the time that he retired, some of the
other people that retired were getting in and the numbers
just didn't look as good. And now I think he's
at fifteenth, seventeenth and passing yardage all the time because

(25:40):
there's so many people that have passed him. But he
was one of those guys who did it. I mean,
I mean he did it with nobody. Don't look at
the people that were throwing him the football. He did
it with nobody's thrown in the ball.

Speaker 5 (25:49):
And if you're that productive, I think even if you've
tumbled to top fifteen, top seventeen all the time, and
it's that like receiving yards, that's good enough that you
should make it in.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah, he's one of those guys, so absolute belongs in
the in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Next year six.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Last one for you here.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Junior remains out of
the lineup following his appendectomy.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
When do you think.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
We'll see Harrison return to the field. And do you
think the Cardinals are experiencing any Buyer's remorse after his
slow start to his career.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
FA Like a lot of that was predicated on the
there's the lack of any chemistry with Kyler Murray whatsoever.
And we're seeing what a Coga over second ever set
just set the record for completions in a game with
forty seven uh in the losing effort against the San
Francisco or Seattle who which every one the lost. Yeah,
I mean, it was just no connection, no chemistry, And

(26:45):
you know, I think Harrison needs a very specific quarterback
to get in the ball in a specific way. I
don't know about Buyer's remorse. I mean, you know, I
remember when when when that draft was happening and I
had it ranked Elite Neighbors as the best wide receiver
in that class. I'm like, Harrison's gon told before, but
Neighbor's the best, best one, and that's that's kind of
how it wound up. And you know, I mean, I
guess there's probably in a back in mind like we

(27:07):
could have taken Malik Davers, you know, that kind of thing.
But at the end of the day, I think Harrison
is still a good player. You know that that career
has got off on the wrong foot with you know,
with everything else, and then and now you know, you
get the injury. I think you try to reset next year,
take a look at what you got, and I suspect
him be a lot better next year.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
Yeah, I'm curious to see who their quarterback is because
I think so much of the problem is Kyler Murray,
like Marvin Harrison, made his name at Ohio State on
these inbreaking routes, Like he is a six four to
sixty five receiver who doesn't move like a six four
to six five receivers.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Should be able to move. He he just kind of.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
Breaks the laws of physics that way, and I think
to best take advantage of that, you want him on
some of these in breaking routes. Kyler Murray notoriously, I think,
as a result of his five to nine frame, really
struggles to operate over the middle of the field.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
It's something we've consistently seen with shorter quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
You know, if you swap him out for Jamis Winston
or whatever, I don't know how much it will improve,
or you know, you keep chacope set around, But if
they're able.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
To plug that, you know, a solid quarterback in there.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
If they hit on a first round pick or get
some exciting veteran, they find the next Daniel Jones. I
think you could have a huge breakout season next year
because he'd finally have a quarterback that matches his skill set.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yeah, I mean you think keep Pett saying you're gonna
need somebody who's verse in the West Coast offense because
that's what they run, and that's just not Kyler Murray.
They got saddled with Murray. That staff got saddled with Murray.
And like you said, you can't hit the middle of
the field. And if we saw it, that's like with Russ,
you know, I mean he need long strider, got You
need a long strider that they can play fifty fifty
balls like Courtland, and you need a burner on the

(28:40):
other side that can get north when the play breaks
down that he can just fling it up to. We see,
we saw how that worked for Russ there in Seattle
when you hit dk Metcalf and Tyler Lockett they could
still do it back then, and so that's kind of
what you need with Kyler too. You need a little
bit of that that kind of offense that get kind
of ability and those kinds of receivers. And you know,
Harrison's a guy who, like you're right, works in the

(29:01):
middle of field. He's more more seedy lamb than he is,
you know, than he is those those guys. And so
I just think he needs the right quarterback going to
the ball. And you'll see next year. I think when
they when they get that that worked.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
Out, do you think there'll be enough demand for Kyler
Murray that they'll be able to trade him or are they.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Going to have to cut him? Yeah, they'll be multiple
suitors and Jets, the Raiders, they'll be multiple suitors.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
What's the going fred do you think they get they
can't get a first round?

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Oh, you're probably looking at a pair of twos or
two or three. I mean that was the Alex Smith
price tag back in the day. I think that's that's
roughly what you're looking at.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
I mean, that's a pretty good haul. I'd say, like
it's guy they probably want to move off with. Anyways,
Terracobe presents outplayed him in this offense and you can
flip that for a two and a three.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah, and you've seen I mean there's always done pretty
well drafted. Look at their drafts last couple years, they'vene
pretty well drafted.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
And for it's done a good Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Yeah, that money Austin Fort's a pretty good GM. And
so you know, I think, uh, I think you get
a couple of draft picks and you know, and you
kind of you kind of see what you can. I
think they take it two and of three for Kyler,
but I think they're going to advertise it as you know,
they're advertise it as a one settle for you know,
they walk that off to two twos and those settle
for two or of three if you know. At worst.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
Yeah, I think they've still got a ways to go
in terms of this this rebuild. But in their defense, uh,
you know, Gannon and Austin for it, I think this
was the most extreme rebuild job in the league when
they took over, like they had to fully tear this
thing down and build it up. And in the midst
of that that rebuild job, they unfortunately uncovered that their

(30:22):
quarterback wasn't the guy, and that kind has set everything back.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, and that's that's that's what happens. I mean, they
got saddled with a quarterback that you know, that predated them,
and they had to try to make it work. And uh,
they they originally were we're gonna move on Fromkyler when
they got there and they sort of got you know,
ownership kind of sort of walked them back into into
keeping that and you know that that's how that stuff
goes sometimes, and well well, I mean yeah, and and
so that that's the thing, like, and they're going to

(30:46):
be back, that staff is going to be back, you know,
next year. You know, I think I think there are
people that did asked me about that quite a bit,
that is that you know, uh, they're gonna blow his
staff out, and I'm like, first of all, don't think
they should. You know, this team has been competitive despite
having noticeable gaps and talent in certain certain areas. But

(31:08):
second of all, I mean, no, the bid Wills are
not gonna pay three coaches to not coach for him,
in addition to a coaching staff to coach for them.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
So yeah, they're just you said it perfectly, that's not
at all in their repertoire. They kept Steve Khime around
for decades upon decades of bad drafts and the off
field headaches and all sorts of nonsense they are.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
It's gonna be hard to be ousted by by that
ownership group in Arizona. That it is.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
We appreciate you guys. I've made along for the ride today.
Obviously our our fifth annual food drive for the Food
Bank of the Rockies and uh well you know we've
had a great time today. We appreciate you guys coming
out here. We donate your turkeys, your food, you cash
your QR code, doing all that kind of stuff. It
was presented by Redbird Farms and their generous donation of

(31:55):
four thousand pounds so chicken breasts, and obviously Colorado GMC dealers,
guys go they're visit a local GMC dealer for the
full Sierra family lineup. As well as that it's been uh,
it's been fun, been real and uh well guess we'll
see you tomorrow night.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Yeah, see it then and there.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
All but take care Broncos country tonight. I got this

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
